大和/yamato is an old-fashioned name for japan. if you’ve seen some of my past posts about wano’s name (here and here), you’ll notice this name (yamato’s name is given in katakana, but like, it’s definitely meant to be this word) includes the same kanji i believe to be the wa in wano, 和. 

basically, the names yamato and wano kuni can be read as having very similar meanings, both being basically names for (ancient) japan.

On this note, Yamato openly refers to himself as a man on more then one occasion. He goes so far as to explain himself to Luffy.

After that, Luffy stars referring to Yamato and Yama-o the translation for the "o" part of Yamatos nickname is 男 which means "guy" and the only other people Luffy uses this for nickames with is Law and Kid.

Kaido referred to Yamato as his son in all non-public settings. I'm not sure what translation you're reading or if you're even reading a translation, but kaido doesn't refer to Yamato as his daughter at any point. Not even when he makes the public announcement in ch 985 that Yamato will be shogun

And not when Yamato is first mentioned by kaido when he's missing in ch 979

So I have no idea what you're talking about saying that Kaido refered to Yamato as his daughter. Unless it was in ch 986 because I haven't gotten to that chapter yet.

All that aside, so what if Kaido does refer to Yamato as his daughter? All that does is set Kaido up to be a massive douchebag (even more so then he already is).

Yamato refers to himself as a man, and thats all you need to know. Yamato is trans and uses he/him pronouns. That has been made very clear. It doesn't matter what other characters around Yamato refer to him as. Yamato has explained to Luffy, and by extention, to us, that he is a man. So we should refer to him as such.

What everyone else call him shouldn't matter, we know what Yamato prefers.

I’ve never seen a community so divided on a character’s gender identity as Yamato from One Piece. And the problem is…I can’t tell who is right because it isn’t clear. It’s not about their appearance, but all about the text. On one side Kaido refers to Yamato as “his son” but Oda directly contradicts that by introducing Yamato as Kaido’s “daughter”. I don’t want to believe Yamato is trans and end up being disappointed, but I’m also very uncomfortable with believing they are just…a cis girl.

It means now you will have to wait for around two weeks for the new chapters of One Piece manga series, instead of just seven days like earlier. One Piece Chapter 980 release date is set as Sunday, May 24 as per the latest reports. The manga issue will be out late on Sunday as per the Japanese time. It means depending on the time difference, some countries will get it earlier, while others will get in on Monday.

The raw scans for One Piece 980 will be leaked around 2-3 days before the release date, which will be May 21 or May 23. The latest chapters of One Piece manga series will be available on Viz media, Shonen Jump and Manga Plus official apps and websites. One Piece 980 spoilers could also come out earlier like the previous chapter and make sure to stay updated.

Hello! I already saw that there was a debate in your last post about this so feel free to ignore this if it bothers you! I just what to know what word does Kaido use to refer to Yamato? I have seen those who say that he uses the neutral term "child" instead of son when Kaido talks about him, is that true? I read the Spanish translation so that's why I'm confused about what term is used, we don't have a translation of "child" we only have "hija" (f) and "hijo" (m) so I'm not sure if there +

nope, kaidou only ever calls him his son- 息子/musuko. (or バカ息子/baka-musuko, ‘idiot son,’ as the case may be, hahaha.)
