The funniest thing about Crocomom is that it’s just stupid enough that I could see Oda doing it. Like the entire concept of the cross guild or Fifth Gear being a literal cartoon character. Crocomom is real!!!

Sun (Luffy) vs Darkness (Blackbeard) foreshadow?

I think it's safe to say that we expect that at some point there will be a fight between Blackbeard and Luffy, considering that Blackbeard is the reason Ace got captured and died...

It still did not happen, but I'm pretty sure that the battle between them will come soon considering we are in the final arc, maybe it could be that Blackbeard is actually the final enemy? I don't know, but to read that specific line from Blackbeard on chapter 441 while he fights with Ace is very peculiar.. especially the choice to refer to Ace as the sun just because he has fire powers. Knowing Oda and his love for details, in my opinion it was more of a foreshadow for Luffy's real devil fruit power and the fight that will eventually happen between them.

Also we have the same chapter numbers repeating!!! Like 1044 if you read it backwards and you take the 0 or the 1 out, we still have 440/441....

Oda I love your way of foreshadowing and dropping hints here and there, this man is a genius.

Barely enough to hang onto any hope. “What are you doing?” Law growled, but he could barely hear himself. There was a hum in his ears, a white noise that didn’t mean anything, didn’t serve any purpose but to drive him even more mad. He refused to believe this. The paper had to be lying. There was simply no way, no way that Luffy lost. No way that his life was about to disappear, leaving behind nothing but a few specks of ash.

I (once again) commissioned the incredible @kagamiciel for this gorgeous piece to go with my fic Ash (from the Ashes of Life series) and I couldn't be happier with the result!! I mean, look at it, it's so so so beautiful 😭🤍

i'm really so delighted by the fact that luffy has a special gear 5 laugh. it's this あっひゃっひゃっひゃ/ahhyahhyahhya that he only does in gear 5, and he does it every time.

it's not the only way he laughs in gear five (he actually laughs in a lot of different ways, including his trademark shishishi just a couple pages before this) but i have definitely quickly come to associate this one with gear 5 specifically, especially because it shows up for the first time on the page where he's finally properly revealed at the end of chapter 1044.

1044 is a great number for One Piece. Chapter 1044 was the introduction of 5th Gear, Episode 1044 was Demonio Fluer. I declare 1044 the One Piece number!! Do with that what you will.
