people acting like canonically c!dream and c!tommy were meant to be equally as bad are just like. incorrect. like we Know the intentions behind the writing of c!tommy and c!dream. their creators have talked about it. other creators involved have talked about it. tommy describes it as torture, completely unjustifiable, described c!tommy giving him the benefit of the doubt as unhealthy, and gets genuinely mad when people try and make that argument to him. dream has like, actually talked about the motivations of c!dream in exile, and it’s him being on an ego trip and moulding c!tommy into being his “friend”/someone useful to him. and that he only stopped bc of c!techno. c!dream's actions were not written to be justifiable during exile by the words of his creator himself. they were power tripping and controlling. are you arguing some secret third person wrote both c!dream or c!tommy this entire time. bc both of the creators are in agreement that c!dream is very much in the wrong for being a child abuser.

and other creators in the server have called c!dream a child torturer and abuser, with sam- who, y’know, had a massive storyline with him- describing him as similar to joe goldberg in you (presumably in his actions- being a stalker, abuser and murderer- and not his motivations) it seems like it was pretty well agreed upon in the writing room that c!dream's abuse of c!tommy and treatment of him was incredibly fucked up and that c!tommy was absolutely not at fault for, y’know, being an abused child (even when they agree he was extremely flawed and fucked up a lot- which, y’know, he did, he’s a character with flaws, it’s just none of his flaws were “being Inherently So Bad His Abuse Is Justified”) like. if you’re arguing the intent of the story is that c!tommy was in any way at fault Specifically for the fucking child abuse you’d have to like. disagree with like basically all the writers who were involved in c!tommy and or c!dream storylines in the slightest? like bro c’mon.

a lot of issues in the fandom stem from the fact that there are various different types of fans and viewers here. and we're all lumped together into this space and we cross paths but many of us are not doing the same things or engaging with the show and characters in the same way.

you have the people who do serious meta and analysis, who delve into canon and do frequent rewatches and are really familiar with the source material. then you have your more casual viewers, people who haven't rewatched much and their recollection is hazy. they forget details, fill things in with fanon. then there's the spn fandom-fandom people, people who aren't all that interested in the show, maybe haven't even seen it, they're just here for the fandom. maybe they read fics, but most of their knowledge of the characters comes secondhand. then there's people who don't even really LIKE the show (some of them are fandom-fandom people), who are just here for shitposts. some flavors of these fans also come with weird parasocial actor-hate that then bleeds into their perceptions of the characters. and of course then you have the different x-girl factions, the rabid deancrits who can't stand that most of the general audience and fans love dean. all these people, all in one place, all making posts abt the same show but coming from wildly different ways of experiencing the show and these characters.

so then you end up with people in headcanon land coming onto posts from the analyzing-canon people and arguing abt stuff that is Real To Them bc they're experiencing the show in a different way, maybe not even watching it. and they feel righteous that their headcanon / interpretation is correct, but the canon analysis people are gonna go "wtf is this nonsense? that never happened! those claims are unsupported. i'm not incorporating this headcanon into my beliefs about this character." and headcanon people get mad bc they're so married to this idea of the character they've created in their minds. and then we all go round and round arguing abt it.

like, people need to accept that their headcanon may not be shared by others. your interpretation is not my interpretation, especially if you made it up! i'm under no obligation to believe that.

people can play in their sandbox forever, headcanon what they like, but there's a real problem with some people going onto other people's posts / inboxes (usually when someone is discussing canon) to argue their headcanon, often in a negative way. and then these same people get mad when the person they went to with their argument responds negatively. and then there are some people who take things too far, who send threats and harassment to others for simply having a different opinion abt fictional characters. that's not a normal response to have. yet somehow it's the people responding to the hate / negativity they get that are called "bullies."

anyways, people need to accept that others are not living in their head, sharing their headcanons and we're all experiencing this show differently. some posts aren't for everyone. sometimes you can just scroll away when you disagree with something instead of making an addition or being negative abt the post in the tags. we're all here to have fun, at the end of the day.

"The Magic Christian" - queer moments

Thanks to @clueingforbeggs, I watched "The Magic Christian", 1969 comedy with Ringo Starr and Peter Sellers.

There is SO MUCH covert and overt gayness there… oh boy.

Let's start with the fact that Sir Guy Grand, played by Sellers, is an unmarried, childless, middle-aged man. He's also very sophisticated, which can kind of be considered queer coding? At the very beginning of the film, Guy goes to the park and meets a homeless man (played by Ringo); in the next scene they go to the office and Guy adopts him, giving him the name/nickname Youngman. Watch Guy tell this incident to his employees: at first he complains that he has no biological offspring, and then…

Then he introduces them to Ringo and then quotes an erotic poem? I mean, wtf? You guys are quite evident.

2. In one of the opening scenes, Guy and Youngman go to the theater. Unexpectedly, Hamlet starts doing a stiptease and it looks quite… gay. Guy is very excited, ecstatic even (he had previously announced that this was the best scene), and Youngman looks at the actor with satisfaction and curiosity.

3. Basically, the plot is that Guy and Youngman are pranking different people. One of them is to pay two boxers whose fight will be broadcast on television to kiss each other on the lips. And they do it. And Youngman's reaction is fantastic.

4. Near the end of the film, Guy and Youngman are sailing on The Magic Christian. Guy chats for a while with the man next to him, who turns out to be a racist. And in a moment THIS happens:

Yes, half-naked, muscular men appear. They hit on a racist to the rhythm of a Disney song. And Ringo whistles.

One of the travelers gives a piece of paper to the black dancer, who hides it in his underpants.

5. After another of Guy and Youngman's pranks, one of the passengers becomes very concerned. Laurence Faggot, a psychologist, comes to him and offers him a moment alone. This is the only queer moment in the film that is ugh. Faggot fits the stereotype of a pushy gay man.

6. Then we see the half-naked queer men dancing that appeared in point 4. Youngman and Guy aren't the least bit surprised.

When Guy's sister screams in alarm, Guy responds:

So I have fallen ass-backwards into (back into?) The TMNT fandom and had the idea for a ROTTMNT x TMNT!2012 fic hit me like a rubber chicken. All I've got so far is that 2012 turts show up in Rise!verse bc reasons and Rise end up just pranking the shit out of them. Because they were raised by an actor, and they're little shits. They would absolutely do this.

Inspired by the uniquely Australian urge to mess with people for no reason, and for other Aussies to join in on the act, no questions asked.

Rise!turts all look WAY older than their actual age, bc Rise were created to be supersoldiers. you can't tell me that Draxum didn't fiddle with their DNA to make them more dangerous/efficient/etc.

The massive growth spurt they all had means they're all like a foot taller than they were during the movie.

This does not help poor Casey Jr (who goes by CJ, purely to make things easier)

He kept accidentally calling Leo "dad", to the point where Leo started to respond to it

This did not help CJ.

CJ ended up getting a concealment broach, and uses it to make himself look like a mutant turtle.

When asked why, he says "because" (he wanted to fit in, and topside NY still freaks him out too much.)

Hey, trauma isn't logical

He keeps his hair as a turt though, which weirded everyone but Leo out until they got used to it.

And four fingers instead of three (purely so he knows which one to flip people off with)

When he uses the broach, he can make himself look any age he wants. Usually, he chooses anywhere between the ages of 8–12.

This was originally an accident, but Mikey encouraged it, as well as acting his apparent age while cloaked, as a healing method and a way of reclaiming his childhood.

They eventually figure out that CJ is kind of flipping between voluntary and involuntary age regression

Leo starts actually being a father to CJ while he's regressed and he absolutely thrives.

Donnie managed to recover Shelldon's memory drive from the wreckage post Shredder

He also started kind-of-but-not-really-more-like-less-than-half sharing his lab with Draxum after the yokai starts living with them full time

Thus meaning that sometimes things (like leftover ooze) might be left lying around

Unrelated, Draxum found a three-legged turtle hatchling and decided to keep it as a pet

Everyone else finds it weird, but it's not an issue

Until the turtle somehow manages to get into Donnie's lab, EAT Shelldon's memory chip  and then trip into a bowl of ooze.

Everyone FREAKS THE FUCK OUT because there's now ANOTHER MUTANT TURTLE DRAXUM WTF!

ALSO WHY TF WAS THERE A BOWL FULL OF OOZE????? JUST LYING AROUND??????

They manage to somewhat calm down, and then the new turtle tot speaks in a kiddy version of Shelldon's voice, and calls Donnie "Dada".

Cue the second freakout in as many minutes.

So now Donnie has a kid as well.

They figure out that Shelldon is now the equivalent to a two-and-a-half year old toddler.

Splinter doesn't know how to feel

He technically has grandkids now, but his kids are still kids!

Also it's Draxum's fault (again) so he doesn't know whether to thank him or throttle him

2012!verse turts appear bc reasons

They are all 16 (set early-like/s2-ish)

Rise peeps all have a standing agreement to prank the living daylights out of any alternates they come across.

They unanimously decide to tell 2012 that they are all 10 years older than they actually are, and to leave out the fact that CJ and Shelldon are not actually their biological children.

Coincidentally, Mikey had been practising his hyper-realism and special effects make-up skills for his online art degree that morning, and used Donnies shell as the canvas.

So now Donnie's shell now looks like one big burn scar

They very much use this to their advantage. *Cue evil laughter*

Draxum shows up in the middle of them all trying to figure out what to call each other

2012 turts freak the fuck out when Rise!Mikey calls him "dad"

12!Mikey: "wow this really IS an alternate universe your Slpinter isn't even a rat!" Rise!Mikey: What no this is Draxum. Splinters our other dad."

Being a streamer has many perks.

You get to play games for a living, get paid by strangers, run events for charity, and never have to leave your home to socialize or deal with people in public. But there are some unexpected drawbacks from being a streamer. Getting doxxed, being messaged by needy creeps, and getting rather...unflattering fanart was part of the gig.

However, there was also just the reality that your camera captured more than just you sometimes. One day while you were streaming, you had forgotten to lock the door to your room as you usually do. A practice that became normal after you started getting regular visits from your beloved Nevadeans.

Today, Deimos just decided to randomly come into your room while you were live. You, being focused on the game you were playing, didn't take notice of the door to your streaming room opening and revealing the humanoid Deimos to the chat.

It took a text-to-speech bit alert to let you know that someone was in your room. Upon turning around and seeing Deimos, you nearly choked on your spit in shock.

The mercenary wasted no time hurrying over and getting into your business. Giving the cam a great shot of him looking at your screen and set up.

The chat starts going wild as you internally freak out.

"Hey, what's up with this gig? Is this how you've been seeing us--"

"SHH!! D, why are you here?!"

You hurriedly whisper as you try to push the merc back away from your cam with little success. The moment he spoke, the chat was flooded with surprise and heart emojis.

"OH! This is that 'Chat' you keep mentioning! What's up, chat!!" Deimos would happily respond to a flood of pog emojis and hearts. "Look, they all know my name! Isn't that cute?"

"DEI." You say sternly, finally getting the impulsive merc to look at you.

Completely unaware that Sanford had also entered the room and was currently standing over your left shoulder, in contrast to Deimos standing on your right. The chat took notice of him quickly and also started freaking out about Sanford.

One comment about Sanford and you turn around to look at the new arrival with wide eyes.

"Sanford! Look! This is Player's "chat" and they LOVE me!" Deimos gloats as Sanford looks at the screen as the Player hunches down and nervously flicks their gaze from the two men in the room to the computer and back again.

The chat goes nuts again with pogs and heart emojis with many of the chatters screaming in all caps for Sanford to flex. Sanford can't help the smile that creeps on his face as he watches, what appears to be numerous fans, BEG him to flex his muscles.

To which, Sanford obliges and it causes the chat to go full rabid.

"Hey! I can flex too!!" Deimos chimes in as he also starts flexing, fueling the thirst of the chat by a major amount.

Poor Player can only cover their face in the corner of the camera in exasperation as the two grunts-turned-human flex and show off in their cam to excite their audience. Each one soaking up the compliments thrown at them like sponges.

"OKAY, OKAY! TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, WE'LL BE RIGHT BACK!!" You loudly shout before pressing a series of buttons, muting your mic, throwing up the 'technical difficulties: please hold' intermission, and closing the cover on your camera.

Then you turn to the two mercenaries in the room.

"What are you two doing?!? How am I going to explain this to the chat?? There's now going to be so many rumors that I live or know the live action cast for Madness Combat! When you aren't even the same people! This is WHY I tell you again and again to stay out of the streaming room when I'm live!"

You scold the two like children as you flick your gaze to the screen, seeing how upset chat had gotten after you booted them to the issue intermission.

"Oh...we're sorry, Player. I probably should've grabbed Deimos and pulled him out of the room when I had the chance." Sanford regretfully states, looking down in an ashamed manner.

"I'm not sorry. Did you SEE how my voice could make so many people melt? I got so many heart emojis! They love me~"

Deimos is then promptly whacked on the head by his taller partner as the two get into a slight argument.

I would like to point out he's talking about cheating and playing dirty and he got this idea because Daniel immobilized his arm with his secret pressure points.

Like I get that Daniel thinks his way is the best way to prep against Silver, but if they'd talked and Daniel had told him of all the Silver moves he knew, Johnny would've built lessons about ways to defend against it. Because he's literally trying to ensure they stay in the game and don't panic if they get injured like he did. Which he's been doing since the beginning by showing pretty much all his students at some point how to get out of a choke-hold.

Daniel I'm surprised you let your credit card or any financial info anywhere near something Anthony has access to after he tried to alexa order something and you struggled to cancel it.

Which, Daniel you fucked up here. Anthony never got to meet Mr. Miyagi that he remembered. So he's just hearing the whole family bond about this guy he doesn't know and it's isolating because he's got nothing to draw on to add to it. Anthony knows all the stories, he knows all about Mr. Miyagi, but do you know anything about Anthony beyond video games? Do you even know what video games he likes to play? Because you bought him kitkats from Japan and that's it. You're just not...listening. You're pissed because in your head he disrespected Mr. Miyagi. And didn't listen to the core of it. Which is there is no Miyagi magic for him and instead his whole life he's been living in the shadow of a man he doesn't know and getting teased because he should know the moves.

Also, I think if Johnny was still there, it'd suck because his training is always hard, but that Anthony would enjoy it more.

normally i tend to think whatevers in the middle of the table is the main course, but that's tomato, red onion and avocado and nothing else.

johnny is not good balancing between Miguel and Carmen.

I think what's happening is Johnny is trying so hard to not be Sid that he doesn't know what to do. Carmen literally moves later like she's going to just eat the tomato, onion and avocado as a meal/salad.

The way Anthony immediately starts apologizing for being in the dojo is kinda telling of his not so great relationship with his father. Like he found something that sparked his interest in karate but then immediately panics as soon as Daniel asks what he's doing.

Like Daniel even says he doesn't need to apologize, but Anthony just doesn't seem to know him well enough that he thinks he's doing something wrong.

Because if it is, what Daniel says related to it is wild.

I also feel like this is a long time coming, Daniel needed to have this conversation with Anthony ages ago. Lately, I've been getting so many guest kudos and I hate that I don't know if they're legit or bots run amok. I've gotten some fantastic comments from guests without AO3 accounts, so I'm reluctant to shut them out, but that might be what the future holds.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes. Sometimes I'm a little late in replying but I will reply. If someone took the time to read my story and tell me how they felt about it, then I want to respond to them. Say thank you.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I'm not a sad ending fic writer. Early on in my fic writing days, I worked on a non-chronological Veronica Mars fic series and a one-shot in that series, The Teeth by the Shoulder, had an angsty final chapter. That story was meant to connect with the one following, and what came next wasn't angsty at all. BUT, unfortunately, it didn't read that way and readers were like wtf, GC??? That was a structural experiment that didn't quite work. It happens. I still like the story though and how it sets up the one after. A noble failure.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Oh gosh, most of them are pretty happy, weirdly enough. Probably Rest Easy, because the happy ending was a departure from the Scandinavian Noir genre and I felt it was pretty earned.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've gotten some weird things.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do. What kind? I don't know. The kind with feelings, I suppose. I think sex writing is a great tool for revealing character. That's usually the best kind.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I wrote one tiny crossover for Veronica Mars and New Girl (who famously share an actor, a fact that in typical-me fashion, I did NOT take advantage of) called Legs Up To Her Waist (The French Have a Phrase for It Remix) for a remix challenge. I think it's a lot of fun, I got to delve a little into my Raymond Chandler fixation.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Probably lines here and there, fanon, but not whole stories. I think they're considered too weird by the general population.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! My Handmaid's Tale fic, We Must Refuse to Disappear has been translated into Russian.

I also have a SKAM story, A Lord's Sauce, that was translated into Italian as part of Fandom Trumps Hate. I hope to post that before the end of the year.

Yes, quite happily, The Boyfriend Experience with the wonderful @irazor.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

I don't play favorites. I am enjoying writing Isak/Even now. Probably because they have such a good foundational story to work from for AU purposes.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

The last two chapters of my CMBYN series, Piano Sonata in G Major, "Pense-bête", are so removed from fic expectations (one half of the ship is barely present/there's another, albeit temporary, love interest in one chapter, other nuanced themes are explored in the other) and are so labor-intensive. Every time I look at what I have drafted, I feel exhausted. I am not currently in a place where I can work on it, but I would like to finish it someday. So I can't say for sure that I won't do it, just not anytime soon.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Some nice language, in-character dialogue. Interest in improving.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Simplifying. Proofreading grammar.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

It's a LOT of work. However, I was very lucky when I was writing my CMBYN stories, which feature French and Italian dialogue. I got a tremendous amount of help from some lovely people.

That's partly the reason I haven't continued writing them. I don't like bugging people about translations. It's one thing to spend time writing stories, it's quite another to drag people into the vortex. Free labor is still labor.

Hating the narrative that Rhaenyra was some horrible friend who never loved Alicent because she called her a “whore” in a deleted scene. Her best friend is marrying her father, of course she’s pissed and lashing out ?? And she’s like 15 ??? And her mother just died ??? Wtf is wrong with this fandom. “Oh well she should have seen it from Alicent’s perspective.” Yes, the 15yo who’s been raised in a violently misogynistic medieval society and groomed herself her entire life should have the same understanding of feminist theory as modern adult Twitter users. People are genuinely insane.

I already argued for how show!Rhaenyra wasn't actually an evil nor the worst actor of the two and against Alicent as some people try to say HERE. How it is their fathers and the patriarchal society around them that shapes them into the persons they respectively are ANd how they choose to respond to each other's actions and thoughts.

Rhaenyra bursting out that Alicent is a "whore" would figure into my words about Rhaenyra, by being in her late teens like Alicent AND Alicent/Viserys leaving her out of their interactions until announced -> thus not having the space or emotional bandwidth to be the perfect respondent to news of her best friend marrying her father and essentially replacing her dead mother. This is a problem of how much grace people allow for which person.

So we should all just ignore how Daemon hugged his daughters in the deleted scenes after Laena's death, how Jace agreed with Daemon concerning bringing the fight to the greens, how Baela said to Rhaenys they should fight for Rhaenyra and her son's rights to the throne and thus argue that none of these scenes matter to how we should consider various black characters morality or competence....but we should take the deleted scene of Rhaenyra calling Alicent a whore to evaluate show!Rhaenyra's moral character. What a bunch of hypocrisy that shows a green/anti-Rhaenyra stance, not to mention its sexism.

The things with Rhaenyra's outburst versus Alicent's saying "queer customs" and trying to use her Queen position against Rhaenyra to force her to confess to sleeping with Daemon are that:

Alicent & Rhaenyra were supposed to be long-time best friends who tell each other everything about themselves (bc that's how very strong female friendships work, esp the younger you are) -> if they actually did things like share secrets, share secret thoughts and emotions and reactions, actually agreed on some things spiritually and intellectually and emotionally and then traded ways to resist their fathers' wills and outsiders' treatment against them.....then it is very difficult to see why Alicent wouldn't at least try to say anything at all to Rhaenyra, or hint at it, about what Otto wants to do in each and every single interaction she has with Rhaenyra -> instead she implies that Rhaenyra should be obedient to Viserys' will even before the announcement...therefore, this relationship never made sense to characterize as "close" because these two seem to have never come to a place where they could say they were close & really understood some of each other's deepest desires

we also already know (or should know) that Alicent's position against Rhaenyra mainly comes from Otto's manipulation and desire to seat Aegon on the throne (as Alicent doesn't try to think of why Otto acted as he did about the virginity loss thing, which was what is revealed in Rhaenyra's comebacks against her thought process in their garden confrontation) AND overall Andal-Seven patriarchy compelling girls to chastity -> we know that Alicent is the one in the actual wrong and that she is coming from a false perspective...further proven by how she talks to and comes to that realization in episode 9 when she finally gets Aegon away from her father and says she never saw Otto for what he did and is

A "WTF?" moment regarding Thomas Sanders

Don't worry, I''m NOT accusing the tomato salad guy of anything. But I did got weirded out by someone claiming something atrocious about him.

Bit of context: I was replying to someone claiming that the Thomas Sanders fandom is toxic, arguing that that info is incorrect. the fandom has a reputation for being very wholesome. then a different person responded to me with the substance abuse claims. That was a "wtf???" moment for me when i read that reply.

I remember a few years ago, coming across a blog post debunking the claims and breaking down the flawed "evidence" that Thomas Sanders was a p3d0. (Recently, I came across a more recent Reddit post doing the same thing. )

Now, I came across someone on Instagram claiming that Thomas Sanders uses drugs and is always high and drunk on set.

... ok, and where's your evidence to back up your claim?

... you haven't responded to me in more than a week. ok. i'm gonna assume you a hater, a troll, or just a weirdo.

Is it because he's always so happy on set? A lot of actors are gonna be happy on set if they're excited for the job/ role. And he's a very silly guy. He's independent (as far as YouTube goes) and surrounded by loved ones.

Is it because of the few posts of him drinking wine? Let the man enjoy himself. And we don't see him drinking on the job or on set. We don't know if he is anyways, but that isn't our business. He seems responsible enough to look after himself. Especially when he babysits kids alot.
