I am not sorry for posting this right after the Dino ask. welcome back to bitchlessdino where nana is a mess always. today i bring you to one of my favorite seventeen dynamics. i am obsessed by how mingyuzi are together all the time and i feel like not enough people talk about it. this is a short little bit that builds up to a bigger thing and tags will be according the specific part so keep that in mind.

Jihoon wasn’t stupid, he had eyes. You were absolutely breathtaking and it took every fiber in his body to knock some sense back into him. His attraction to you was unparalleled to anything he had ever felt before, and he felt weak coming to terms with that. Not only were you physically the embodiment of sex and pure charisma, you reeled of class and genuine that he didn’t find in other people. Your setback, however, was the fact you had to be preoccupied, by his roommate nonetheless.

Mingyu was lucky beyond measure. How he came across you remained a mystery. All Jihoon knew was that out of everyone he’s ever met, you had this quality about you that drew him like a moth to a flame. Your face, your body, your voice.

God, your voice was absolutely electrifying. How these thin walls would talk and how Jihoon would listen, he could write sonnets of how absolutely wretched you made him with the delicious noise you emitted. He was starting believe he never experienced a sexual awakening until you walked right out of Mingyu’s door or moaned as loudly and boldly through the wall where Jihoon slumbered on the other side.

Although all this is true, Mingyu wasn’t the type to keep someone around like he did you.

As far as Jihoon knew, Mingyu’s lust was endless and didn’t limit any single person. As he recalled, several types of people take the walk of shame leaving the same door only to never be the same face. It was stranger after stranger with no repeats. Then again, here you were sleeping over in his shared living space for the umpteenth time. You stuck out in that giant t-shirt, thanks to Mingyu, prancing around the common area in no visible bottoms. Your smile, like a ray of light, energizes his tired mind as you pull out a mug for your serving of coffee.

“Morning, Hoon! When did you get home last night?”

He never once left the apartment complex.

Coughing, he scratches the back of his neck in discomfort. “I actually worked from home today.”

“Oh. Shit. I hope we weren’t bothering you or something. Were we loud?”

Very.

“I had my headphones in. They were noise canceling, so you’re all good.” He nods reassuringly.

“Aw well, good,” the coffee bitter, but uplifting, on your tongue, you finally start to feel alive, “Any plans today or were you gonna stay home?”

Jihoon knew why you had to ask. You were wondering whether the apartment would be free later for you and Mingyu to continue what you were doing last night, without Jihoon being a big cock block in the way, not that it stopped them before. The man simply sighs and munches on his cereal mundanely, shrugging. “I could give you guys some privacy this afternoon.”

“Oh, that's not why I asked,” you professed in a panic, “I was wondering if you wanted to join us today.”

Jihoon had to pause. “Join you?”

All kinds of thoughts ran through his head like venom, trickling into every wrinkle of his brain. Whatever group activity you had planned could only be deduced to one thing for Jihoon at the moment, and it had his blood pumping. The idea of having Mingyu be in the same room was repulsive, probably because he knows where Mingyu has been, but that look in your eyes was more than enough to convince him. And he admits even if it was for a moment, he’d take that chance.

“We were gonna grab lunch at the bear cavern and the pasta they have there is to die for. I thought you’d really enjoy it.”

Not exactly what he expected. In retrospect, this made more sense. “Uh, sure. I guess.”

“Great! Oh, and I started listening to your Spotify playlist and added it to my account. Your selection is so good. I had no idea your taste in music was so sexy,” you playfully nudge with a wink.

His throat runs dry. Even if you were just complimenting his taste in music, hearing the word roll off your tongue so smoothly was enough to burn his ears and cue the butterflies. He handles the edge of the counter with a hard grip, calming himself down the best he could. “T-thanks. I was gonna add some more finds later tonight.”

You finish your mug and clean up the remaining inside the sink, “Can’t wait.”

Jihoon understood his predicament all too well. If he could, he’d make every opportunity to have you gasp his name, have you begging to have him fuck you in every corner of the room, have him the only person on your mind. However, he knew his setbacks, his limitations, and last, but not least, where his loyalty lies.

As irritating as Mingyu can be, he’s his roommate and pretty much his best friend at the end of the day. Having a friendship like this was one in thousands. Yes, the man stood 6 foot three inches, despite being younger, and yes he sometimes uses this knowledge as leverage to occasionally poke fun at Jihoon who was of a decent height. He was so much of what Jihoon isn’t , but despite all that, he knew he could never betray his friend on any level.

His patience was tested that day when the group lunch commenced. You, of course, sat beside Mingyu, having the other roommate to witness every little private intimate gesture made in front of him. Mingyu, love stricken as can be, played with your fingers like a child amused by the simplest of things, his voice hitting the highest of pitches when you made him laugh, and the never-ending gaze he had in your direction.

Jihoon could feel his guilt boiling over and feared it spilling over to the surface, risking his friendship. He refrained from too many glances.

“Good right?”

Jihoon picks apart his food, putting on a show by stuffing a fork full of pasta in his mouth. He makes a sound of approval, nodding. You proudly grin, and go on with your meal. Mingyu on the other hand sees his friend with his mouth so full, reaching over with a napkin to dab his roommates face. “Ah, Jihoon. Chew thoroughly please, we can’t have you choking.”

Jihoon swats his hands away, wiping his face himself in defense. “I got it. Keep your hands to yourself.”

The pretty boy pouts but is immediately distracted by the person beside him pulling his arm, complimenting how cute he gets when he’s considerate. It was then at that moment, an employee made a poor lapse of judgment and had a pitcher of lemonade spill all over you. You were taken by surprise, unable to predict that from a mile away, and stepped away from your seat to let the ice fall from your lap and let everyone see the soaked mess you became in a matter of seconds.

“Oh my god! I’m so sorry.”

“You better be sorry, how could you be so careless?!”

Before Jihoon could stop himself, his voice bounced off the walls of the restaurant furious at the reckless waiter, having never had his voice resonate that loud before at a stranger. You pull him aside, ensuring him it was a simple mistake and you were fine, but Jihoon was doubtful.

“Are you sure? you’re really wet.”

Yeah, he heard it.

“I just need a change of clothes, if you have any.”

“There should be a clean set in my car in my gym bag, that ok?”

“Perfect,” you nod.

You turn to Mingyu briefly to let him know that you’d follow Jihoon back to change and Mingyu paid it no mind. As you follow him back to the car, you embrace your damp body, seeking out the sun to warm up and watch Jihoon open up the car truck to take out a clean shirt for you to change into. He gives it a good sniff before handing it to you, immediately regretting his actions. “Hopefully it smells clean enough.”

You giggle, “This will do just fine.”

You take a sniff yourself and relaxed at how surprising and pleasant its scent was. “Mmh, smells good to me. I’ll go change in the back seat.”

He unlocks his car to give your space and you crawl inside, closing the door behind you. Jihoon flushes a deep red knowing you’d be topless in the car where his back faced, so he took some deep steady breaths. Attempting to stray away from non-platonic thoughts like the underwear you wore or how soft your skin probably was under your clothes. Anything that could get him in trouble.

He was not proud of what he did that night. When he finally got the shirt back after all day of you bathing your scent in it, he couldn’t look at it the same. So, he did what any man blinded by lust could do: he masturbated. However, it wasn’t going to be any normal chain yanking, the shirt had to be involved.

Flat against the mattress, in a singular tank top, he holds his borrowed shirt in his left hand and his throbbing erection in the right. He strategically places the shirt on his face, panting like a dog as he takes control. Your perfume that ligers, a slight sweat build up, and even the bit of soda residue spill on your skin, he absorbed it all. He pictures your face in his mind. Beautiful, yet sultry, dying to have his angry cock inside you.

He whispers to himself your name, letting his delusions run wild and imagine you do the same for him. He flicks his wrist hard, the fabric of his abused shirt heaving up and down from his breath. His knees arching up in the bed, hips jutting upward, thrusting into nothing until he cums, guilty large streams of ivory heating up the large patch of his bare stomach, then the deafening silence. Simply his breathing and shame was left behind.

He had been lucky neither of the Mingyu nor you had caught him in such a weak state. He would never live to see the next day.

Ahh, thank you so much! And do you know I think this is the first time someone has asked me for recs? So it's obviously my turn to Throw Down Some Shit. I'll do a mix of things that I've read and am reading as well as WIPs and finished stuff.

OK so I probably don't have to tell you, but @pacific-rimbaud's Dramione multi-chap Love and Other Historical Accidents just wrapped and lord is it wonderful. Regency settings mixed with modern sensibilities, deeply funny, even more deeply romantic and with some truly memorable original characters. And of course the writing in unparalleled. Run, don't walk, to read it if you haven't already!

There are a few authors on this list where I want to throw their entire oeuvre at you and just walk away (I will do that with one, down the list) and @roseharpermaxwell is one of them. She writes mostly shorter stuff, mostly as gifts for others, which I find so endearing. And she's just an incredible writer. A mix of sweetness and pure, hot smut that I think no one does better. Her story Lead Me Straight Back Home is the one i'm going to post here because it's a holiday fic and so appropriate to read RIGHT NOW, but you can't go wrong with any of her things. Binge them like chocolates.

Everyone seems to be talking about the WIP Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love and let me tell you, it's for Very Good Reason. I wandered over to check what all the fuss was about and got sucked right in to delicious dialogue, extremely entertaining characterizations, moments of actually laughing out loud and really touching slow burn romance. Oh and gorgeous settings AND judicious smatterings of truly beautiful writing. I can't recommend it enough and wait with bated breath for the next chapter. If the author is out there on tumblr and sees this, pls DM me. I'm the person who wrote the P&P Dramione and I want to be your friend.

I said there were authors for whom I want to just Recommend Everything and call it good. And @provocative-envy is the queen of this for me. Every single story she does is magic. She will make you ship rare pairs you never even imagined. She will make you ship things you never wanted to ship! I can go Russian Roulette through her body of work at 4am when I can't sleep and be guaranteed to find something absolutely riveting. So, please, sample it all. But since this is a Dramione post, here is a link to her classic for that pair, Bite Marks.

Another story I started reading this year and then went off to yell at people about is Hide Your Fire by @diana-skye. It's a HBP re-do with a strong Theo (Theo/Neville side pairing--swoon) a re-sorting and absolutely fantastic writing. It just wrapped and is complete at 100k+ and 30 chapters, so it's perfect to dive into over the next couple of weeks of winter break. I will be doing the same!

A writer whom I know more from OC, tomione and wonderfully worded tumblr posts (her advice for a person just starting out in life legitimately made me cry) is @cocoartistwrites. She has a Dramione WIP, Familiarity Breeds Contempt, that is absolutely tops on my TBR list. Her writing is spare and strong and Has Personality, and I am very excited to dig in to this WIP.

I had the very great pleasure of beta'ing a story this year, Atonement by @lunamionny, which is an absolute must-read. It's 8th year that truly explores the psychological trauma the wizarding war would have visited on our favorite characters. Lunamionny is a professional in this field and it shows, because she writes so beautifully and realistically about working through that trauma and coming out on the other side. It was such a pleasure for me to be involved in this project and I can't recommend it enough!

Finally, if you'd like a quick palette cleanser of ludicrously enjoyable humor, my great friend and beta, @grangerdangerfics wrote a couple of one-shots this year that should not be missed. Malfoy Family Endowments is, as she calls it, "a 1.5k word dick joke," and Dramoine; OR, Drack Malofy, Second-Rate Detective, is a crack fic based on a typo that will have your sides splitting. Thank you for gracing the fandom with these smol gems, M.

AND if you exhaust this list and want EVEN MOAR @theshadylaine maintains a collection on AO3 called Peak!Dramione of, "stories that feature Peak!Draco and Peak!Hermione as their best selves, showcasing their intelligence, wit, character, and compatibility." It's a great list -- currently 118 works long -- and she adds to it regularly. You'll find a lot of excellent stories and authors on it that I didn't have room to mention.

There are times when I read a story and just have to stop and be like...this is free? This author isn’t a professional? I don’t believe it. These are those times:

hii pixie thanks for the ask!! god i love talking about books. and it was getting tiring to talk to myself all the time:

4: A popular book you dislike

*flexes my typing thumbs* The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake - the writing is great, but worldbuilding? the characters? the motivations? the suspense? is all crap. it's horribly paced and the last 200 pages are blatantly obvious. The author neglects one of her own characters you'd think she hates her and builds up one of the others it's BEYOND TIRING. But WORST OF ALL? Olivie Blake has no knowledge of what she writes, she tries to capture the magic of iwwv and tsh or ninth house but she's spewing science fiction bullshit which doesn't convince anyone.

The Fault in Our Stars by John green. Straight up makes me uncomfortable that he's exploiting terminally ill patients for his romantic doomsday story. Not to mention: grown man writing smut for minors is....

7: A book that left you feeling overwhelmed with happiness

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig: my favorite way of describing this book goes something like if you enjoy this book I'm glad you'll feel the reverberating encouragement from the plot but if you don't like it, CONGRATULATIONS YOU'RE MENTALLY HEALTHY! A lot of books leave me happy but the pure elation the ending of this gave me was unparalleled. I felt like I could do anything :)

I am so sorry for taking 5.4 million years to answer these (and I'm not sure if these are different anons or the same anon, just increasingly frustrated by my lack of response haha but I do apologize profusely!)

(This is in no way a complete list, ask me again tomorrow and I’ll have 15 more for you!)

fireinsideforfun - Good Sport is hands down my absolute favorite fanfic. The slow build from angst to domesticity to the eventual smut and back to angst is all just so, so good! Their characterization is spot on and their worldbuilding and OC’s in A Rational Choice are so rich and fleshed out and I just cannot say enough about how much I love their writing.

convolutedConcussion - This author does snarky banter Brio to perfection with their fic. The mixture of fluff and angst and domesticity is fantastic. Their AU(canon divergence-ish) WIP better than a harmony is one of my absolute favorites.

s_t_c_s - They have such a unique writers voice that I just can’t get enough of and they have a real knack for writing Brio in all their full blown rage-y insane glory and it’s downright delightful. People can be so cold is one of my favorite fics, featuring snowed in, overly obnoxious Brio, with some wonderful smut sprinkled in and a dash of fluff at the end.

mintletters16 - They. Have. The. RANGE. All three of their fics are literal perfection. I’ve rec’d all three multiple times and will continue to do so until I die. Thinking of You is such a gorgeous snapshot of Ruby and Stan’s relationship (which I don’t think we see enough of in fic) and Beth and Ruby’s friendship. (Bonus fanart here!)

mamey2422 - Their Bad Habit series is a top fav of mine – it is angsty Brio perfection. There is so much good fic from this author to explore, all the way back to season one, and literally something for everyone with fluff and angst and everything in between.

nachocheese26 - The Gangsitter series! Iconic! Literally fluffy perfection! I am not a big fluff person, but this series is an absolute favorite of mine! The characterization is amazing for the dynamic they’ve put all of our favorites in and I can’t get enough of it! Plus they have an equally angsty post season two WIP, Just Like We Practiced, that I absolutely love (and am hoping will update soon!).

thatbluenote - There are some really great missing scene fics from this author, like Just Picture Everybody Naked, that feature some amazing Brio power dynamics (and also a smutty one shot that features Brio + a conveniently placed pile of money!)

openhearts - The domestic Brio in for a moment we were strangers is fan-fucking-tastic. Absolutely unparalleled. Just non stop fluffy goodness ft. Emma and Marcus and also really hot smut.

greyish - There’s only one GG fic here, but it’s a good one - PTA Brio! I love PTA Vibes so much because it features so many of my favorite things – Brio banter! Amazing Rio POV! Domestic fluff with the kiddos! A really snarky, totally amazing OC! Love, love, loooove!

infernum - This author offers some really amazing Rio POV. wildfire is my absolute favorite ‘bathroom break’ fic. They’ve also written some really great alternate episode/scene endings(with some amazing smut)!

zetuslapetus - Their Vegas AU, Viva Voce, is one of my all time favorite Brio fics. They have so much fic to offer, AU or canon, and they just write beautifully. Their characterization is so good and I love their Rio POV! Plus, they are one of my fav smut writers.

emeraldcut - I love, love, looove this authors Annie POV, it is just spot on and so funny. fierce kingdom is one of my favorite Annie/Rio interactions. Their WIP, crash course in polite conversation, is probably my favorite season one canon divergence. Characterizations are on point and I feel like they’ve set up the story in a way that could happen in canon. The tension and angst (and jealousy!) between Brio is so good.

thingcalledlove - Lots of one shots, mostly canon compliant fics, from this author, including another great PTA series! They have fic going all the way back to season one, with some really amazing smut. Blurring the Line is probably my favorite fic from them, which explores an alternate timeline to the end of season one. It’s got fluffy domestic (slightly angsty) Brio ft the kiddos w/ fake dating vibes.

heretowinbitch - I love this authors unique style of writing so much! They have a fantastic High School WIP, disparate youth, that is an absolute favorite plus some excellent one shots that feature angsty Brio like, sinking like a stone in the sea, that has really amazing Rio POV (and packs a heavy emotional punch).

rebellking - Another author that writes angsty Brio so, so well (I'm sensing a theme here haha). Their fics are canon compliant, with missing/alternate scenes to episodes. put your lips on my skin and you might ignite it is a fantastic alternate ending to that 20 questions scene and features some truly amazing smut.

15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?

Ah, god. Shoving all the smut aside, probably the Harry Potter Pride & Prejudice AU. It has a Quidditch scene with Quidditch Captain Margo, you go in all the common rooms, you get a library finger banging session (tastefully filmed, of course), observatory tower confessions, a break-in to Hogwarts, rides around the castle on brooms, Fogg on a broom, Eliot with a kneazle in his lap, a showdown in the Forbidden Forest, duels, centaurs… would be a lot of fun to see on film.

28. Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

I have read a shit ton of fic, and I have a shit ton of favorite authors. Here are three, in no particular order:

No surprise that @hoko-onchi-writes is a favorite. She’s directly responsible for me continuing to write at all, but even if we’d never spoken, her fic is amazing. Organic relationships, happy endings, smut you feel in your soul (and other parts of your body, if you know what I mean).

@mixtapestar – Her fics always leave me smiling and feeling so good. I love the emotion she brings to the characters in any fandom. It’s been amazing watching her grow as a writer and every time I see a new fic from her, I know it’s gonna be a good night.

@theaudity – Underrated. This author deserves way more attention than they receive. They often write outside of popular tags, but their use of language and description and their ability to pull a story together is unparalleled. So vivid and amazing at drawing a reader in.

all of ur work is so amazing and this was really really hard. like, i literally spent like a whole minute staring at your masterlist just thinking of which one is my favorite.

and since it was so hard I'm gonna go and say my top three (3) bc yes.

this is gonna be so long I'm so sorry.

soo my super top one (1) would def be chain of command. that one is SO hot i swear. but it's not just that. i mean. it's so beautifully written and like, everything you write is so amazingly done but the way you wrote thrawn feels so... him??? and for me he's a really hard character to write bc his personality is sort of hard to fully grasp and yet you did it in the most precious way, like, i can totally hear thrawn in my head with every dialogue. and you made him so yours it's mesmerizing.

and the build up! uhGggg, i could literally quote every single thing of the "introduction" of the fic. and you know, i just love everything about it, and !!! the little moments where he shows this something I can't really pinpoint the name of but it's this mix of softness and care.

when he holds her hand as she rides the toy, or the "is it better?" and when he sounds almost fond and the whole ch’itiseb thing,,,, I– fUCk. I AM crying sam.

and i love even more how it all comes to this:

There’s a small furrow of tension between his brows you’ve never seen before; a sheen of sweat across his upper lip. A tiny strand of cobalt hair has fallen across his forehead. By anybody else’s standards, he still looks nothing short of perfectly composed. But on him… these tiny signs of his slipping control are enough to throb deep between your legs. The Grand Admiral; sweating - because of you.

I- woah. the power u have given us. and i just really really like when these bad, hard, unexpressive men turn out to break for you, because of you.

and it's sO hot. so. hot. to have that kind of effect on someone. and you wrote it so amazingly, because it's not the obvious things, but the small little ones, like the sweat and the hair and how composed he must look and also not really.

and THE ENDING !!! god.

Sitting beside you, he methodically cleans the cooling cum from your body, and you can’t quite look at him as he does. Embarrassedly, you reach to take it from him.

“Thank you, sir. I can manage.”

His tone is mild, the edges of his lips lifting as he dips the damp edge into your navel.

“Perhaps. But I would prefer to.”

I JUST— this always, always has me wanting to hide my face on a pillow and i smile SO much. because there's this,,,, this thing.

how reader tries to put back that wall of professionalism between them, because at the end he is her boss, and the awkwardness she feels must be so palpable, but he wants to do this, for her. because for him there's no wall to break down or to pull back up.

"perhaps. but I would prefer to."

I MEAN– AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

you wrote this so soft. like he has this affection for her that he doesn't know how to approach, how to act on it. so it's these little things.

and i mean yeah, this is so fucking hot u know, but also it's so sweet and it's more than just smut u know. it's these little glimpses of those things that hide behind that makes my heart yEARN.

ALSO OMG WHEN TJEY KISS I- AJSKAKDJAKDJAJS I CANT EVEN SAM THAT WAS SO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

my second favorite fic is that jealous fox one i just !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and u know at the beginning when u wrote

“I don’t need sleep,” he’d told you, sounding just slightly manic. “I’m good for at least another six hours.”

You hadn’t argued. You’re still shy around him despite this being your third date, and the last thing you want is for him to think you’re trying to brush him off. He’s just so intimidating; the Commander of the entire Coruscant Guard — so hard and efficient, his authority unquestionable.

i both laugh and cry bc first of all, fox needs a break, and second of all SAME. and i just love how relatable this is. how human. to be shy and slightly awkward and hold back a bit when you're entering into a relationship with someone.

AND WHEN.

Fox’s face looks perfectly composed, but you’re sure you don’t imagine the faint narrowing of his eyes.

“Thorn.”

IM SCREAMINGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. i have NO words to describe the things this fic does to me. I just–

and tbh it's SO HOT.

and everything that follows is even Hotter. when he says “Fuck, you’re wet. What about this? This all for me too?” DAMN.

and before this gets any longer. i gotta say the third (3) part of mutual arrangement is my FAVEST.

and i aDORE everything about this

Slowly, so he knows what you’re doing, you reach out and release the catch at the back, lifting the helmet slowly off. He doesn’t try to stop you, although you see his posture stiffening in his chair. With his face finally free, you pause to take in the sight of him. He’s frowning, always frowning, and you automatically press your finger gently to the line between his dark brows, trying to smooth his expression. He looks tired, a shadow of stubble across his jaw and his hair sticking up in messy tufts. You can’t help the little lift to your lips… you’ve missed him, even though he’s been here the whole time.

“Hi,” you whisper.

And the sight fills your chest with light; his face relaxes fractionally. “Hi,” he echoes, sounding vaguely amused. You bend and press your lips quickly to his, standing between his knees, and he catches your wrists, holding you there as he leans in to deepen the kiss. Reaching blindly behind you to leave his helm.

I just– [incomprehensible crying]

and i am TRASH for boba, and even more for soft boba. and idk if I told you this before but the way you write him is so good. so so so good. I'm always left speechless with the ease you seem to portray him and into your fics.

and this little bit that follows

“What happened to no distractions?” you murmur against his mouth, and he bites your bottom lip in warning, grinding you down onto the hardness of his codpiece.

“You happened,” he shoots back. “You can’t follow my fucking rules, on my ship,” and the rough quality of his voice would be threatening in any other circumstance but here it sends a thrill through you like a bolt of plasma.

consider me ugly sobbing and h word.

i really can't believe your talent babe, it's unparalleled. and the way you put all these emotions and make this beautiful work of pure art and make the reader feel all these things it's just– it's amazing. really.

tbh i could spend my whole life just breaking down your fics and telling you every single little thing i adore about them.

Do you respond to comments - why, why not?

I... want to? I try sometimes, if someone's comment touches me or came at a particularly bad time. It's overwhelming to respond to people - I'm a lurker by nature and never really grew out of the habit of teen-me knowing i wasn't supposed to be looking at the fics i was reading and so i wouldn't interact with them or the authors at all. So it can be hard to like. reconcile that I'm a fully grown adult person who is allowed to not only read and write what i enjoy but also that like. other adult people are reading and enjoying what i write? and that they'd want to tell me? I admit to also falling out of what little habit i'd started due to continued weirdly critical (yet not *negative*) comments that just. rub me the wrong way so I can't figure out how to respond? yeah.

What's your fic with the angsty-est ending?

Again I guess if we're going by what's actually posted, I'd probably have to say the Super Fucking Old fic I added from my FF.net days: A Late Summer Afternoon (hopefully that's the right link - sometimes copy and paste doesn't work the way i want). warnings for MCD. I...imagine you might be able to pick up on why that one's my angstiest ending xD I generally try to like. end my stories on a positive note? even if it's not all better yet - so the second angstiest would be Color of Your Eyes or Have This probably. Likely more Have This over Color of Your Eyes but they're both relatively tame as compared to my earliest writing xD

Do you write crossovers?

Uh...yes but i haven't posted any yet. Most of the reason nothing I write gets posted is because I am incapable of writing small projects and I get nervous about posting chapters before i know where i story is going yet because i feel like i can't edit if it's been posted? Anyway I'm going to try and get over that eventually. Not right now, though. I still have to edit some stuff.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Hate is a strong word. I...assume most people who have commented mean well, regardless of how their comments may come off to me on my end. Several have rubbed me the wrong way due to phrasing and an inability to read tone over text-based communication, but I refuse to believe they would have kept reading if they didn't like most of the story. Certainly it has been generally positive feedback across the board so I don't feel comfortable at all calling any negative comments i've received (intentional or not) "hate"

Have you ever had a story stolen?

As far as I'm aware, no. Thankfully I tend to write shit that people just don't care that much about so I'm pretty safe I think. Watch that come bite me in the ass xD

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nah. I hope one day to be proficient in my target language and will be able to translate my own fics myself but see aforementioned note about how no one really cares that much about what i write xD it won't happen unless i do it myself.

What is your all time favourite pairing?

What is a fic you would like to finish but don't think you ever will?

currently none are looking like "never gonna finish"es which is good. RBttB sat unfinished for a long while and I probably won't polish the ending on that one, but it's technically done. I also don't want to finish that one either so. it wouldn't have fulfilled the requirements of the question.

Writing strengths?

You want me? to compliment myself? in THIS econo- alright alright i know, it's a terrible joke. Uh...I understand i'm pretty good at smut. and descriptions? i think? I feel like my humor is unparalleled but that's also because i'm pretty sure i'm the funniest person in my apartment (we'll just casually not mention i live alone...) Seamless integration of current and historical memes? Puns? i don't know. i am super confident about writing but i couldn't tell you for sure what i'm actually strong at.

Writing weaknesses?

uh. Getting anything finished. endings. d i a l o g u e. writing. flow. pacing. repetition. writing. see what i did there? i told you my humor was awesome. no but really i struggle with actually starting to write and then it ends up being a lot of me repeating myself a bunch until i find the sentence or four that work best. and like. my pacing is weird so it can be hard to...figure out what i'm trying to say? oh and commas. i use commas wrong.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages?

I enjoy the shit out of it. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I try really hard to get it right. if I'm not 100% positive it's correct I will change the whole sentence. mostly because i only know a handful of people who know languages other than English and I am bad at reaching out for help when I need it. mostly the second part though.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

YuYu Hakusho! A friend and I wrote this epic fucking self-insert not-quite-isekai style fanfic back and forth in notebooks back in the 6th grade (which was about...oh. nearly 20 years ago jesus i'm old). Only one of my notebooks survived when she decided anime was demons and the devil trying to tempt her away from Jesus so a lot of the story was lost. It was also in pencil so it's half worn out of the notebook as it is. then there was the phase i went through where i decided i could make my notebooks more interesting by cutting them into shapes which lost me a bit of text in the margins that i'd forgotten about... look we're mostly lucky i had it at all or that i've kept it all these years. Why do i still have it?...hm.

What's your favourite fic?

Of mine? So far it's probably a toss-up between Spearwort, Iris and Ash and Lia & Em's Adventure in Thedas. you know. My two biggest projects Oh...oh possibly also the Current-Reworking-The-Title fic I've started that I've not posted anything of yet in the Arcana fandom. Which is also a huge major project. I don't write small if I can help it, apparently.

Klaroline Fic Rec - Day Eight: Quick-Fire Questions

1. Who are your favorite KC writers? I’m rushing as I head out to work, but when I come back I’ll edit and add my favourite work from them all. I’m 100% sure I’ve missed someone I love (so sorry!!!) but here are some of them - @cupcakemolotov - sooooo much incred content, like 200+ works and they’re all gold. @itsnotacrimetoloveyou - I could spend all day rereading their AO3 page, just a ton of amazing pieces. @candycolamorgan - so goooooood, especially the oneshots! I LOVE the smutty ones, and a few are unlisted to make sure to check their main AO3 page. @lalainajanes - you neeeeed to read through their KC works, they are expertly written, well planned and excecuted marvellously. I’ve reread so many, they are really amazing. @bellemorte180 - does an AU like no one else. Seriously magical. @galvanizedfriend - long or short form, one of the best KC writers of all time. @supremeuppityone - everything they write is awesome, and I’ve spent days going through the 130+ oneshots. There is literally something for everyone in there. @klarolineagainnaturally - I’m slowly but surely working my way through their AO3 page and I’ve yet to be disappointed. Every work is a killer, long or short, completed or WIP. @honestgrins - one of the best drabble writers in the fandom imo, but their long stuff is AMAZING too. So much wonderful content, and their ability to imagine scenarios is unparalleled.

2. Who’s your favorite KC smut writer? @eliliyah - you get me on a visceral level. You write the smut I wish I had the brain to write. Next level.

3. A fic that you have read more than once. Sacred New Beginnings by @itsnotacrimetoloveyou - it’s a Harry Potter arranged marriage AU. It’s sweet and fluffy.

4. A feel-good fic that never fails to make you smile.  The Sound of Settling by @galvanizedfriend - it’s a coffee shop AU, and usually I wouldn’t read that kind of thing but this is soooooo good. The plot is masterful.

5. A fic that has made you cry. Everything Everything by @anyaparadox - oh my god, this is so raw and I loved everything. It has a happy ending, so don’t be put off reading it! Caroline and Klaus wake up in an alternative universe where they’re both married, human and trying to conceive.

6. A fix-it fic that has made you feel vindicated.

7. A fic that has made your romantic heart scream. Bored of Games by @klarolineagainnaturally - it’s a short smutty piece where everyone thinks Caroline and Klaus hate each other, but they’re hooking up in secret. I love ittttttttt.

8. Your favorite drabble writer? @honestgrins writes the most wonderful little shorts - the kind that make you go oh my god this can’t be the end.

9. What was the story that made you fall in love KC fanfiction? Cut to the Bone by Angelikah - if they have Tumblr, please feel free to tag ‘em! So this might not have been the first one which did, but it certainly reinforced the love. Klaus in this is so conniving and dark, I stan.

10. A fic you love and wish more people would read. Worst Things Have Happened by @galvanizedfriend please see yesterday’s review for more detail on this, but READ THIS FIC.

11. A fic that isn’t your regular cup of tea for whatever reason but that you love anyway. Her New Skin by @klarolineagainnaturally - look, I don’t do angst, but I’m hooked on this rival family AU and it’s only two chapters deep! It’s wonderful!

12. A multichapter you wish would be updated NOW! Dragon Dust by @cupcakemolotov - I’m not big on dragons either, but this is so great. It’s only one chapter right now, but definitely worth a read. Caroline is a thief and in order to safe her friend, she has to steal from a dragon. She doesn’t have time to work out why her skin shimmers when they touch... It’s so awesome and intriguing. This Fic Rec event was SO FUN. I found a ton of awesome new works to read and hope you’ll check out some of the above authors - they’re awesome. Thanks again to @klaroline-events for organising.

Kudos: How can I possibly summarize why Macha’s works are so special? She writes with a perfect blend of compelling plot, moving emotional development, and effortlessly beautiful prose. She writes characters that jump off the page, so that we hurt and rejoice and lust with them. She adds elements of surprise and delight to even the most well-worn tropes, infusing them with the essence of Olicity. Her canon-related and AU stories always feel like just another (and in many cases, better) path that Oliver and Felicity could have taken. Every word she writes is a treat, every story is a gift to the fandom. I know this sounds effusive but it’s barely scratching the surface of how amazing her works are! I have definitely laughed, cried, and everything in between while reading (and re-reading...and re-re-reading, etc.) her stories. (Okay also I already listed 5 of her stories, but I also have to mention two more: the utterly delightful AU WIP Our Version of Events (co-written with geneeste), and fandom-favorite Little Black Dresses and King-Sized Messes.)

Kudos: anthfan’s stories were some of the first I read in this fandom, and WOW what a high bar she set. Those of you who know me know that I tend to prefer canon-related stories to AUs (well okay, more recently I have begun to love AUs too, but canon-related will ALWAYS own me), and anthfan just hits that pitch-perfect spot of great storytelling - intriguing twists, heartfelt scenes, perfect characterization, and ANGST - OH, THE ANGST - while still remaining in that familiar Arrow universe we all know and love. And nowhere does she shine as well as when she’s taking well-known tropes and giving them a uniquely Olicity twist. Devil’s Backbone remains my favorite Olicity fic of all time (probably!), but truthfully I wish I could read every one of these stories over and over again for the first time.

Bonus Kudos: I thought the first chapter of Dust to Dust would actually kill me, but it proved itself to be clever and badass and witty and FUN! As far as Devil’s Backbone goes, I watch Season Three now and just assume all the stuff from the fic is going on after hours (headcanon accepted)—one of my all-time favorite stories! -Meegan ( @it-was-a-red-heeler)

N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?

I tend to be pretty shameless about enabling people to write the things I want when I don’t want to write them myself, but as far as fics I wish someone would finish for me...all of my WiPs? I’m terrible at finishing multi-chapters/WiPs, which is why I tend to write one-shots instead, and with the exception of all the stones and kings of old and Strike a Match, I’ve only ever finished multi-chapters that I’ve co-written.

O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?

99% of the time, with the characters. I might have a vague concept, like “long distance AU” or a quote for inspiration, but whenever I have to actually come up with plot it’s usually the last thing and definitely secondary to character relationships and development.

U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

I’ll go with three that I actually know...

@letmetellyouaboutmyfeels: my darling, my brain twin, and all-around brilliant writer. A smut goddess, to be sure, but also the author of some of the most amazing, breath-stealing moments I’ve ever read and I am eternally in awe of her talent.

@qqueenofhades has unparalleled world-building skills and an epic talent for developing OCs that you WILL fall madly in love with and want to threaten her over.

@hearteyesforbuck makes me laugh, makes me cry, and really Understands characters the way I love.

this is a very hard question to answer because there are LOTS of incredible writers out there, so we’ve decided to name the ones we like but also feel are new and/ or super underrappreciated/underrated! this is not to mean the authors not on this list don’t deserve love and recognition because everyone does!

hanjoooo (purple macarons) - i’m speechless? the writing is so emotive and raw, the build up of tension in the fics is just stunning. i highly recommend this author!
