Alright, you green fucking piece of shit. Where the hell did you bring Tommy? I’m guessing the prison, but you could’ve also made another secret base somewhere. How many days will you leave Tommy dead? Because even one day - I think about 3 months in Limbo - will traumatise him even more… how fucking dare you do this to him? How dare?! This won’t last long, I hope you know! People will find out Tommy’s gone and come to rescue him. You couldn’t handle facing half the server back then and you certainly can’t now! Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you. Burn in whatever this world’s equivalent of hell is. Give Tommy back, please, we already miss him.
Hmm, someone actually demanding answers, how fun :) Well, he is in the prison, safe and sound in the main cell :) And I actually revived him earlier today, so he would have spent maybe a month or so at most in limbo :)
And then, well... I may have encouraged him to apologize for leaving his exile and getting me locked in prison and tortured :) With my axe :) And okay, I may have gotten a little carried away and he may have started bleeding out. But that's okay, because I brought him back right after :) And now he's resting. Actually resting this time, not, y'know, dead :)
Oh, and it's funny that you think that many people even still care about him, or wouldn't turn on him if they knew what he did :)

here’s a hot take: most of the characters on the dream smp expressing some form of dependency isn’t actually the toxicity this fandom keeps making it out to be, it’s a natural reaction to isolation, abandonment, and general trauma.
being bedridden isn’t healthy for every day life, but it’s Necessary when you’re sick, when your bones break, when your muscles tear. you have to change your behavior to make up for where your trauma (physical or mental) has made living life normally either impossible or incredibly exhausting to maintain in a way that can Inhibit your growth when you aren’t strong enough to move forwards yet.
no, it’s not generally healthy for someone in a relationship to be overly reliant on the people in their lives to the point of not being able to be self-sufficient (with the exception of children of course). but it is actually Completely Normal And Expected for someone who has very recently been traumatized to need a more robust support system as they struggle with the emotions stemming from the trauma.
fear is exhausting, insecurity is exhausting, paranoia is exhausting, hyper-vigilance is exhausting, Trauma is exhausting and it’s Very Normal for people to not be able to handle that alone 24/7.
and that’s not even addressing the characters who have trauma related to isolation!
tommy was put into the equivalent of an angry sensory deprivation tank for months on end sandwiched between being trapped in a single room cell with his abuser for three weeks and people actually had the gall to call him “toxic” for being clingy with his friends. which isn’t even getting into how this was Retraumatization from the Three separate times he’s been exiled, once of which involved him being groomed into thinking everyone in his life hated him.
like yes ! Yes Obviously he’s going to not just want but Need reassurance in the stability of his relationships ! Yes he’s going to need to be reassured that he isn’t going to suddenly be alone again! in the same way that a broken leg Needs a cast!
while he Should be trying to get more self reliant over time (which he Did btw), That Is A Very Normal Reaction To Trauma!
and it’s even More ridiculous with wilbur. what tommy experiences was already Obscene in terms of realistic trauma, that is the kind of thing that affects someone for the rest of their life in the real world, the kind of thing that people write novels explaining the story of.
wilbur was completely isolated in one room for 9 years and people find it Suspicious or Weird that he latched onto tommy, someone who he not only loved beforehand but broke up his isolation In limbo?
like obviously the Characters are more than allowed to have their own complicated reactions to it, but we as audience members should know better ey.
it’s like people writing meta about how toxic it is that someone who had a traumatic experience in a car crash absolutely refuses to get in vehicles anymore, even in emergencies.
yeah the behavior isn’t rational, But None Of Us Should Expect It To Be.

Okay speaking again on Tommy’s self-worth issues, its an interesting contrast to Wilbur. While they were in limbo, Wilbur calmly says to Tommy how they weren’t good for the server. Which is something that they both believe and struggle over I think.
Wilbur was someone who wanted to build and create things however. He wanted to make a lasting impression, to create a nation which would be remembered. And when it was no longer what he wanted it to be, he felt like he had to destroy it, rather than let it live on in another form. Almost like if he couldn’t be remembered as a builder than he’d be remembered as a destroyer. Either way, he couldn’t simply live, was afraid of it as he felt like a failure.
Tommy likewise has begun to believe he is bad for the server, and has little self-worth. He feels like he’s a horrible, selfish person who will get his friends hurt because he might put things over them. He hesitated over choosing his best friend and wants to condemn himself over it. He fears the people he cares about are better off without him, because he cant value him right, and that he’s bad for the server. It was part of his issues in exile too, believing he got exiled because no one cared about him and that the server was better without him there. All these self-worth issues also nearly lead him to taking his life just as Wilbur had.
The differences are striking too. Tommy is not someone with big aspirations, in fact he fears power and responsibility and has become desperate to change and fix himself. He wants to believe that though he feels broken, and beats himself up over every mistake, he can be fixed and is working hard to do just that. Condemning himself as he tries to be different, looking for a rolemodel to teach him to be better. He is not content being himself and needs to change.
Wilbur still wants to believe in himself in some way, either in accepting he’s a terrible person and trying to embrace that, to cling to how he is. And to try again, see if he can build a nation, (or equivalent) once more and hope that this time it won’t fail. It’s like he fears it yet he has to try and be himself while Tommy is so afraid of being himself and can’t bear to make the same mistakes again.

Hot takes
Ranboos character is incredibly boring, he does nothing for the plot. On top of that he is such a Mary sue since everybody loves him and overall he lacks any enemies. Not to mention the pacing of his current arc is frustratingly long.
Tubbo had a promising character arc during the whole L'manburg president wall arc where he exiled Tommy. I was excited to see him develop only to have him do a full boring circle and go back to square one of being a dynamic yet flat character who's potential is on the bench catching dust alongside Niki's, Fundys, and Erets.
Wilbur shouldn't have been revived at all and Ghostbur being sent on a train in Limbo without having a decent character arc is so disappointing like Jesus they slaughtered my boy-
I'd fucking ascend if Tommy finally had a good character arc were he developed as a character and didn't just reverse it minutes later, especially since the whole story somewhat revolves around Tommy like please at least let him mature a bit.
Kinoko kingdoms residents should have just teamed up with Eret and made a whole cool arc where they access the damage dream did to them and work on making a big ass kingdom like I would love to see it since that group has barely developed throughout all arcs.
Ranboo and Karls lore is basically the equivalent of filler side quest that does nothing to the overall game but is interesting enough to grab your attention initially.
Thanks for listening I'll be here all night!
gonna answer them one by one wait
meanwhile, send me a hot take!!!
1. agreed, honestly. i think he adds a bit to the story by making other characters get some development (c!tommy and c!sam specially), but narratively he is quite useless. i think his character has a lot of wasted potential (at least for now). i agree 100% that he's a mary sue he is THE mary sue of the server. i do agree with the pacing of his arc as well- it's just very very much only internal conflict and nothing else but there's only so much you can do for development with monologues and introspective moments. it's not necessarily bad and i get that there's people who like it, i'm just not one of them bc it's not the type of narrative i like to watch/read.
2. yeah, that's true. as much as i adore c!tubbo and he's my favorite character with absolutely no doubts about it, he is in need of some development. i do think he gets it from time to time tho- the whole nukes thing, building the interrogation room, getting walls around snowchester -, all of them are signs of who he is and of how everything that has happened to him affects him. that's important. it'd be nice to see it more worked on, but i believe that's something that will come with time (or not. cc!tubbo is not the biggest rp fan tho so i don't even mind)
3. ngl i LOVE c!wilbur being revived that was something i was so excited about bc i feel like he's someone that's gonna make the story move and i want that. i want that so bad. please c!wilbur make things happen. i was extremely upset with ghostbur's demise, tho. ghostbur deserved so much better and the prospect of him just being stuck in the train station forever is really, really disappointing, specially since cc!wilbur has said he has no plans for ghostbur anymore.
4. mmmmmmm hard disagree. i think c!tommy's getting good characters arcs ever since the smp started. cc!tommy is definitely one of the better writers in the smp and i love him for it. the thing is that c!tommy's arcs are a lot of "one step forward, three steps back", which can be really, really frustrating, but still works and sets a coherent pace to his characterisation. i like it, but i get where you're coming from and respect it
5. AGREED ABSOLUTELY AGREED like what was the point......... of starting a whole new kingdom......... if they had, as you said, just joined c!eret, that would've been amazing in so many ways. it'd add so much to plot, like fr. i love that idea and i support it so bad. specially bc kinoko kingdom just feels... empty? i guess? idk i feel like it has no history or depth to it but maybe that's just me. wouldve liked it a lot more if they had merged with someone else- even fucking c!niki, since they just built on top of her city without any regard for her lmaoooo
6. oh, c!karl's story is definitely a sidequest to the main story, but i don't think that's a bad thing. it's mostly irrelevant to the smp and, honestly, id prefer it if they kept it that way with exceptions to like.... add spice? like with the masquerade episode and the egg that was just SO GOOD bc it didnt really matter overall to the story but it gave the egg arc more depth and i think that's super, super cool and i hope they do it more. i like the idea of a little spin-off happening alongside the main story, it's just cool and can add a lot to the smp if done right. for now, i like it, bc i believe it's doing just that, and the whole thing with c!karl and the other side and the inbetween bits is quite interesting and makes the "random character travels through time" sidequest just,,,,, more than it would be without it. about c!ranboo......... mainly yes but also no? like, i think if it's worked on then his lore will stop being just a sidequest. i wish they explored his relations with c!dream more, bc, to me, that was the most interesting and curiosity-inducing part of his lore. everything else feels too disconnected from the important things happening rn. idk tho that might be just me LMAOOOOO
