couldn’t sleep last night from thinking isn’t it crazy how the one ep cover art represents all 3 songs together ??
⚠️Warning : I’m just yapping , not really a musical theory craftsman (lyrical and technical sense) just pointing out the visuals of the cover only
Thread the needle
The well…needles the art style of it looks like cross hatching and (maybe it’s just me) if you squint it looks like needlework, purposely made to look like it’s made of stitches (i think).
Furthermore the title is also an idiom to which I discovered recently “to skillfully navigate through a difficult conflict” or “To manage to find harmony or strike a balance between conflicting forces, interests, etc.”
If you want this, truly want this ... the consequences of our journey will be ugly and difficult , a balancing act
When the bough breaks
A bough is a main branch of a tree *cough* apparently it’s not a bowl my mistake *cough* from a tree of Sakura flowers !
I remember somewhere they are a symbol of the life and death cycle… for the Victorian era language of flowers it’s new beginnings oh…oh I’m sure, personal interpretation could be that this is the first line of their discography from the band or you could say…the first offering to a new life of worship
The other meaning is optimism, I doubt putting it here at first cuz idk what type of optimism could this be referred to until last night ahh …maybe it’s the twisted kind, where offering himself to sleep means this new relationship would work out this time after going, through so much pain in your past life maybe…just maybe this new life would give you something to feel like you’re worth it for once
Field of Elation
All we have are pieces of dandelions, not the whole flower. It probs doesn’t mean anything
but symbolically from the Japanese language of flowers or hanakotoba sincere love, oracle of love, happiness, and separation in english vers it’s resilience hope and healing (forgive me if these flower symbolisms aren’t 100% right). Dandelions can mean freedom too, ppl blow dandelions to make wishes make that what you will
I had a few messy writing from my first raw thoughts to the ep for the first time in the early start of march, that it means a different land of great happiness and exhilaration a symbol of escape, I also wrote separation—> vessel giving up his humanity to fully give in starting his worship to sleep but the fields of elation thing works just as well
What’s my conclusion?
I just wanna point it out there’s no meaning I’m not sane for the language of flowers and it all went down hill
#sleep token#hackus rambles#is there a tag for this ep#one ep sleep token#idk man#not normal for this shit#if someone notice this way before me then I’m glad it’s not just me woohooo#if you see any changes i tend to edit stuff midway cuz my english is good but also not the best no inbetweens

Outside of being a very intimate and, in some ways, soft song, one of the things that always gets me about Telomeres is the lyric "You guide me into safety and silence."
Firstly, while on the surface level (and just in general interpretation) it's very simple; Vessel feels safe with this person. However, with the knowledge of Sleep's tendancies, the line between 'safety' and 'danger' blurs a bit.
Secondly, in the chorus of Higher, one of the main juxtaposing lyrics is "And you need the melody, I only need the silence." So, Sleep, in all their want of constant noise and song, gives in to make Vessel feel comfortable. That's why Telomeres feels soft.
Along with this, we're also brought the question of: what is the significance of silence? Or at least a semblance of it?
Firstly, the most obvious example of silence is found in sleep, not the deity, just the action, itself. Most people (asides from sleep talkers and walkers like me lol) are dead silent when they sleep. Plus, obviously, the night is much more quiet than the day. In a place where "there was no street lights: just pitch black and passing headlights", the only noises you'll truly be hearing is the wind in the trees, the night time bugs and the odd owl.
Further, the Feilds of Elation are described to be "quiet and loamy" (which, fund fact! I always used to mishear as "could endow me"), which we could inferr means silence = joy. In The Offering, the second person is "silence on sacred shores", again, showing a link between silence and something positive.
Also, in Atlantic, we have "just orbiting the vaccum I am". Vaccum comes from the Latin word 'vacuus', which means void, vacant, idle etc. While this is most definitely in reference to how Vessel feels empty and drained, I think it's worth the mention that inside the biggest vaccum we know (space) is is completely and utterly silent.
Plus, Fall For Me, arguably the most heart wrenching song on that album, is dead quiet asides from Vessel's vocals.
I find it quite ironic, almost tragically so, that the man who yearns for peace and quiet is the one who 'speaks' the most.

Happy 1 year anniversary of me discovering Sleep Token and listening to The Summoning for the 1st time 🥹
Shout out to that annoying ass-dude that kept appearing on my Instagram's fy page with That Part of The Summoning for months prior. If it weren't for your slightly-pretentious, male-targeted videos about ceiling mirrors and waterproof blankets and whatever else, I would've never listened to them 🙏
I kept a little journal while going through their discography, and from June to September I did a track by track first impressions review of every album/ep lol.
Here some of my favourite entries from the first week of TMBTE listening / ST tumblr engagement 🥺
"[...] They are so babygirl. I've made some friends on tumblr simply because of them, how cool is that? What a [lovely community.]" (continued on second page)
"[...] BRO. I'm struggling over here. That video lives in my head rent free. Brain rot. Head empty, only Sleep Token thoughts. [...]" (will give you a smooch if you guess the video)
"4 - Aqua Regia: JAZZ PIANO SO SEXY AND FOR WHAT. *That* chord progression?? WIG. Frothing (hehe)"
And at last, my favourite:
"I get it, his teeth are very sexy"
(this was about Vore)
#some of this are very cropped because [redacted]#i've been down bad for Mr Grumpo funky goth music man since day one#the funniest bits are actually the next albums#because at this point I had very little knowledge of them and was doing short paragraphs about the music#but once I started to actually engage with the community and learn more. my commentary got very unhinged and hilarious#the eps and Sundowning reviews were in late July#and TPWBYT was on the 2nd of September. so 3 months later#i will say there's A LOT of praise for ii even back in TMBTE 😌👑#anyways. specil day for me 🥹 I'll listen to TMBTE as it was the first time ✌️#sleep token#tmbte

Sleep Token: A Mesmerizing Discography of Harmony and Depth
In an era where musical cohesion and thematic storytelling within albums seem to have taken a backseat, Sleep Token emerges as a breath of fresh air. Their discography, consisting of "One," "Two," "Sundowning," "This Place Will Be Your Tomb," and "Take Me Back to Eden," stands as a testament to the band's unwavering commitment to crafting aural experiences that transcend the ordinary.
The journey through Sleep Token's discography is akin to embarking on a profound spiritual odyssey. From the hauntingly ethereal "One" to the enigmatic "Two," the groundwork for their sonic universe is laid. However, it's in the final trilogy – the awe-inspiring progression from "Sundowning" to "This Place Will Be Your Tomb" and culminating in "Take Me Back to Eden" – that the band's genius truly shines.
It's an experience like no other to listen to this trilogy in succession. The albums are woven with a meticulous thread, each song seamlessly transitioning into the next, creating a coherent narrative that's both immersive and captivating. It's a rarity in today's music landscape to find albums that not only possess individual standouts but also present a holistic journey where each track complements the others, all working together to amplify the overarching theme.
At the heart of Sleep Token's captivating allure lies the extraordinary songwriting prowess of their enigmatic lead singer, Vessel. With an uncanny ability to delve deep into the recesses of human emotion, Vessel crafts lyrics that resonate on a profoundly personal level. His songwriting transcends conventional boundaries, exploring themes of spirituality, vulnerability, and the human experience with a poetic eloquence that leaves an indelible mark. The lyrical tapestries he weaves evoke a sense of introspection, drawing listeners into a world of intricate narratives and haunting melodies. Vessel's gift for storytelling, coupled with his literal emotive delivery, results in songs that not only captivate the ear but also touch the soul, leaving a lasting imprint that lingers long after the music fades.
An integral facet that elevates Sleep Token's discography to unparalleled heights is the impeccable music production and audio engineering work contributed by the talents of Carl Brown from Treehouse Studios and George Lever of G1 Productions. Their collaborative efforts have played a pivotal role in bringing the band's vision to life, with every note and nuance meticulously crafted. The albums bear testament to their skilful touch, as each instrument resonates with clarity, and every whisper of Vessel's vocals is imbued with raw emotion. Brown and Lever's expertise acts as the invisible hand that guides the listener through the intricacies of Sleep Token's ethereal soundscapes, making the auditory journey as enchanting as it is immersive.
When it comes to translating their studio brilliance into live performances, Sleep Token is nothing short of exceptional. The band's stage presence is mesmerizing, drawing the audience into their spellbinding world. Perhaps even more astonishing is the fact that Vessel's vocals remain untouched by the heavy hand of autotune or vocal correction software. His voice, heard live, is a mirror image of what you've come to adore from their recordings, showcasing the band's authenticity and musicianship.
A noteworthy aspect of Sleep Token's artistry is their visual identity, thoughtfully brought to life recently by Alex Tillbrook Design. The graphics for their albums and merchandise resonate harmoniously with their musical essence. The attention to detail is evident, reflecting the band's commitment to a holistic experience that extends beyond just the auditory realm.
In a musical landscape dominated by singles and fleeting trends, Sleep Token's discography stands as a masterpiece of cohesion, depth, and unadulterated passion. Their commitment to crafting albums that weave a seamless tapestry of themes and emotions harks back to a time when the 90s music scene was known for its dedication to storytelling through albums.
I am deeply enamoured by the captivating allure of Sleep Token's enigmatic anonymity, a sentiment beautifully encapsulated in their profound statement, "Our identities are unimportant. Music is marketed on who is or isn't in a band; it's pushed, prodded, and molded into something it isn't. Vessel endeavours to keep the focus on His offerings." Within the realm of Sleep Token's music, the conventional fixation on individual personas is gracefully set aside, allowing the divine essence of their artistry to take center stage.
This intentional detachment from personal identities enables a pure connection with their music, permitting listeners like yourself and myself to be swept away by the ethereal melodies without the distractions of the mundane world. As I immerse myself in the mystique of Sleep Token, I find solace in the idea that their music is an offering, a sacred creation meant to transcend the limitations of the known, inviting us to experience a profound and unifying journey guided solely by the resonating notes and unspoken emotions.
As a dedicated listener, I can't help but yearn for the day when I can witness Sleep Token's magic on stage in person. The anticipation of their live performance is enough to send shivers down the spine. And as the music world eagerly awaits their future creations, there's a sense of excitement and curiosity about where their artistic journey will lead. Here's to hoping for a chance to witness Sleep Token's live magic and to eagerly awaiting the next chapter in their evolving musical saga 🥂.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading. Hope I can produce an album of this magnitude some day. - worship - Murdered Doubt

One EP Art. I wasn't ever able to get confirmation for that dandelion, but I'm still confident enough to say that it was used for the Fields of Elation Single. It pains me that it's not square like TTN or WTBB but that's the only copy of it I've ever been able to find.

for the lyrics thing: “there’s something in the way you lay / that makes the dead switch graves / you take your leave” from Jericho. is “you lay” a euphemism for sleeping around (so the person is so sexually active that they make the dead roll in their grave)? or is it saying that the person is so wonderful that they can even move the dead? i’ve never been able to figure it out so i’d love to hear your thoughts!
I was hoping someone would ask about the Two ep! Just my luck, thank you anon <33
In the UK, and in America as well I'm pretty sure, "lay" is used as slang for having sex with someone, so you're right on that part, definitely. However, the line "there's something in the way you lay" brings both negative and positive connotations to me. He's saying 'there's just something about you. The way you look like that.' There's either a sense of stillness and serenity with it; a calm brought about by the way they lay, possibly asleep next to their partner.
On note of the next line, which I'll talk about in a moment, a large amount of people are known to 'sleep like they're dead', and others note that having Sleep Paralysis feels like death. The Dead are often confused for the sleeping as well, as long as they don't have any noticible abnormalities.
Even though two is quite sexually charged, I mean hey, take a look at Nazareth, I'd like to go with it being they're just so wonderful, or, in the least, appear to be so.
"Enough to make the dead switch graves" Is a stupidly powerful line. Whoever this is is just asleep, or sleeping around, and they have enough authority to make the dead switch graves.
In addition to this, a typical euphemism you may hear is 'make the dead roll in their grave'. It's one thing to do something so disgusting that you make the dead roll around, but this is something enough for these corpses to get reanimated, dig their selves out, get up, walk to another grave, and switch. This person's mere existence is potent enough that it causes the deceased to get up and leave.
It gives the vibe of a shift in the natural order of things, if that makes sense.
Plus, plus, in Islam (I know, I'm back at the religion again, bare with me lads), after a person has died, it is believed they will rest in their grave until The Day Of Judgement where they will be full body resurrected and either be taken to Paradice or Hell. Aka, the corpse will be reanimated to be eternally judged. There's also a similar idea in Christian theology; some denominations believe they die and either straight up go to Heaven or Hell, or will wait in their grave to be reanimated and judged on Judgement Day. Just something to think about.
Further, Jericho is the 'oldest city in the world', and makes an appearance in the Bible and the Qur'an; Israelites conquer the city and destroy it's protective walls. Nazareth was the home of Mary in the Bible and also where she received Annunciation. Calcutta is the old name for the capital of British India (now called Kolkata). Overarching theme of big cities with violent histories.
Lastly, we have "you take your leave". It's sung in a very final tone, if you get what I mean. Basically a 'you leaving isn't a big deal...but it means a lot to me. You've hurt me; again.'. There's not much to analyse here; it's simple and it's final. Whoever this is is gone, either 'dead' and so thoroughly disgusted/angered by Vessel that they've reanimated themselves and walked off, and Vessel will spend his time dissecting old encounters and feeding off of whatever he can salvage.
On the note of 'death', a bed can also be a grave for some people, either a metaphorical one or a literal one.
#again thank you for this one anon!#I'm sorry I went off on an analysis tangent from your original ask 😭 I hope I didn't go overboard#would love to hear everyone's ops on this one though!
