kiss cam surprise - gojo satoru
word count: 2.8k warnings: none! :) summary: when (y/n) kisses shoko during a kiss cam at a baseball game, satoru gets a little ~jealous~ this is half fluff half crack tbh lol a/n: ok i don't take fic requests but someone dropped this in my ask box awhile ago and it resurfaced in my mind so... ur a lucky duck. also! if u like kiss cam fics y'all should check out kiss cam! by @naosaki <3 one of my fav megumi fics <3 ___
For being at an event that they couldnât care less about, Shoko and (y/n) had been on their best behavior for the entirety of the baseball game. Satoru and Suguru had been so excited to gift the tickets to the girls so they could join them in a fun outing, that theyâd tried their best to accept the offer graciously.
Even though neither of them had any interest in going. It was obvious when the tickets were presented to them, from the awkward smiles theyâd worn to the way their eyes shifted towards one another as if to make sure the other was thinking the same thing- why wouldnât they just go on their own?Â
Shoko and (y/n) wouldâve happily spent the day doing their own thing had Satoru and Suguru gone to the game just the two of them. Maybe some light shopping, or maybe theyâd hole up in one of their rooms and eat junk and watch romcoms all day. Either way⌠any activity would have been more entertaining to them than this.
They barely even knew the rules of the game, only cheering when the guys did, and sharing knowing looks when they tried not to laugh at just how uninterested they were.
Still, they did their best to participate. Both glad in the same colors of the cheap merch Satoru and Suguru had treated them to. (y/n) was in a jersey too big for her that hung off her body awkwardly, and Shoko wore a hat with a bill that wouldnât stop dipping over her eyes, but they didnât complain. They were very good sports for their friends, only sneaking off for a smoke break one time. They even made a few trips for snacks and drinks so that Suguru and Satoru wouldnât miss any of the games. Sure, maybe they were trying to stretch their legs and ease the ache in their butts from the uncomfortable plastic seats, but they had the right intentions!
âThis is fun, right?âÂ
When (y/n) turned to him, Satoru was beaming from ear to ear. His sunglasses were slipping down his nose due to the way his ball cap bumped into them, and his bright eyes seemed to hold even more light from his obvious joy.
She couldnât lie to him if she wanted to. It was too cute to see him this excited just from sharing the experience with his friends. Heâd had his arm draped over the back of her seat for the majority of the game, and whenever his team got the upper hand, heâd eagerly tap or shake at her shoulder to involve her in the hype. (y/n) was grateful for the que to pay closer attention to what was happening, but she did fluster and blush every time heâd touch her.
This didnât go unnoticed by Shoko, who would knowingly knock her elbow from her other side, a small smirk on her face when (y/n) would peek at her from the corner of her eye. She tried to ignore the silent teasing, but after a while it got hard with how much it was happening.
With a smile and a nod of her head, Satoruâs expression lit up even more. âYeah, Iâm actually having a really great time,â She said. It didnât matter that she was more interested in all the attention heâd been giving her than the great seats they had for the game. He didnât need to know that part. âWe should do this more oftenâ She adds before thinking.
Once again, Shokoâs elbow was bumping into hers, and this time a less-than-discreet snort could be heard. (y/n) sent her elbow back into hers in retaliation, silently scolding her for eavesdropping.
âYeah?â Satoru fixes his cap so that he can push his sunglasses back up the bridge of his nose. âTickets werenât that expensive, we could go to more games this season, if you want?â He suggests.
Bullshit, she thinks with a smile telling him thatâs exactly what she was thinking. Nothing was expensive to the Gojo Satoru.
âYeah, maybeâ She says without much commitment.
Going to baseball games just the two of them? The idea had her heart soaring. Having to sit through a game that could take more than three hours was less than ideal.
Soon enough a break in the game came, the announcers hyping up the crowd with some silly chants and trivia on the big screen. (y/n) found herself slumping down into her seat, aimlessly tapping around on her phone to pass the time. She hadnât been paying enough attention to notice the change in game on the big screen, that is until there was a hand smacking at her shoulder again.
Looking up, sheâd almost expected to see the game in motion again. Satoru had only been tapping at her like that when an exciting play was in action. However this time, heâs pointing up at the screen.
She gapes when she sees that sheâs displayed on the screen. The camera has a wide angle that includes Shoko and Satoru on either side of her, the words Kiss Cam spelled out in pink cursive above them. Itâs complete with lipstick stains and sparkles for dramatic touch.
âOh my godâ She mumbles, hoping that her blush is undetectable by the camera, seeing as her face felt scorching hot from embarrassment.
The longer the camera is focused on her, the rowdier the crowd around her becomes. Eagerly chanting âKiss! Kiss! Kiss!â like a bunch of teenagers at their first house party.
Satoru is grinning so hard his face hurts. This was like a dream come true. The easiest excuse in all of history to get a kiss from the girl heâs had a crush on since he was fifteen was just presented to him on a silver platter- and the crowdâs cheering only spurred him on further.
Even Suguru is giving him a smirk and a nod of approval. Heâd heard more earfuls than most about the ins and outs of Satoruâs feelings for (y/n). Although on occasion, Shoko or Nanami were on the receiving end of his lovesick rambling.
His heart is about to burst out of his chest when he turns to (y/n). His smile is starting to hurt and for a second he realizes heâs going to have to relax to actually kiss her.
âAre you okay with-?âÂ
The question barely comes out before heâs cut short.
(y/n) had already turned away from him, swiveled in her seat to face Shoko. Itâs like heâs watching it happen in slow motion.
They both giggle at their idea, and (y/n) takes off Shokoâs hat while sheâs quickly tucking her hair behind her ears to clear her face. And then time goes back to normal and all too quickly, Satoru watches as they lean towards each other to share a kiss.
Itâs just a peck, so swift and chaste itâs over as soon as it happens. The crowd hollers and then are just as quickly getting excited over the next unsuspecting pair on camera.
(y/n) and Shoko laugh a bit more before sitting back in their seats, going back to their phones and striking up conversation about some anime theyâd been interested in. Both, or at least (y/n), completely oblivious to the offended gape on Satoruâs face.
That was totally his kiss, after all! It was his perfect moment to finally take things to the next level with his long time friend that heâd harbored a crush on.
To make matters worse, Shoko wasnât as innocent as she was pretending to be, sending a smirk his way when (y/n) was too focused on her phone. He scowled back at her. She knew about his crush! She knew he was going to go for that kiss!
With a huff, he stood up from his seat and made his way out of the stands. He needed a bottle of water, or a snack, or just some damn space away from his so-called friend that was teasing him for snatching his kiss.
Satoru leaving so suddenly finally perked (y/nâs) attention. He was gone too fast for her to call after him, but she worriedly watched him scale the steps with ease as he headed towards the hall of vendors. She locked eyes with Satoru, raising a brow in silent question.
âHeâs just being pouty,â Suguru replied casually, shrugging his shoulders before turning back towards the field. âYou wanna go after him? Be my guestâÂ
(y/n) sighed, turning the other direction towards Shoko.
âWhatâs he so pressed about?â She mutters. âWhat even happened?âÂ
Shoko rolls her eyes, a lazy grin stretching on her lips.
âI dunno,â She says in a teasingly melodic tone of voice, suggesting she knew exactly what set their friend off. âMaybe pluck up some courage and go ask him?âÂ
With another sigh of defeat, (y/n) slumped back into her seat, her thumbnail wedged between her teeth as she mulled over the idea. A nervous flutter settled in her chest, a persistent buzz of confusion and anxiety distracting her even more so from the game starting up again.
When she suddenly shot out of her seat, muttering some excuse about needing to stretch her legs before she raced up the stairs in the direction sheâd seen Satoru head off towards.
Two sets of eyes watched her as she hurried off. Suguru and Shoko locked eyes once she was out of sight, both of them snickering between themselves. It didnât exactly take an active imagination to know exactly what was coming next.Â
To her surprise, (y/n) found Satoru as soon as she left the stands. Moping around the upper part of the arena with a half-empty bag of cotton candy. She couldnât help but laugh at the sight, effectively getting herself caught by him.
âWhyâre you up here eating your feelings?â (y/n) speaks first, eyes narrowed inquisitively. Satoru scoffs as she approaches him, snatching a piece of the pink sweet right out of his hands.
âIâm not eating my feelingsâ He replies unconvincingly, digging the hole deeper as he shoves a rather large piece of cotton candy into his mouth.
(y/n) rolls her eyes, but the smile on her face is impossible to hide.
âSure,â She remarks. âYouâre totally not pouting right now. Câmon just fess up. Whatâs wrong?â
âIâm not pouting. My friend betrayed me, I think Iâm right in being upset about that?â Itâs a rhetorical question, followed by another shove of cotton candy into his mouth.
(y/n) frowns.
âBetrayed you?â She repeats. âDid I miss something? Who betrayed you?âÂ
Satoru groaned, tossing the remainder of his cotton candy into the trash dramatically. (y/n) had to resist the urge to laugh, not understanding where this whole little tantrum came from.
âShoko! Obviously! I mean she knew that that kiss was-!âÂ
He stops mid sentence, realizing where this outburst was going to lead him if he didnât relax and go back to his usual suave demeanor. (y/n) shook her head in confusion, her brows pinching together.
âWas what?â She asked, a breathless laugh escaping her. âMeaningless? A joke between friends?â She suggested. âYouâre mad about a kiss?âÂ
âOf course Iâm mad-! Well, I- I guess not mad, Iâm not mad at her,â He stammered over his words, not knowing how exactly to explain the complicated feelings.
(y/n) tried to be patient while he stammered and struggled to make himself clear. Mostly because she was partially amused by the whole thing. Satoru prided himself in being what he called a smooth-talker, and while normally sheâd laugh at him for that, it was a shock to see him behave the total opposite right in front of her.
âBut that wasnât exactly fair, I mean, she was just trying to rile me up. And- like- yeah, thatâs what we usually do, we pick on each other but that just- that just wasnât fair! That was my kiss and she knew it! And she just-âÂ
âWhat do you mean âyour kissâ?âÂ
Finally Satoru had been rendered speechless, his mouth still hanging open mid rant, jaw slacking a bit as he realized heâd gotten carried away. (y/nâs) expression almost mirrors his, her eyes wide and lips parted, even as she holds her breath and waits for him to clarify.
But heâs completely frozen in front of her.
âSatoru,â She waves her hand in front of his face, trying to bring him back to reality. âWhat did you mean âyour kissâ?â She repeats, shaking her head at him.
âI- I just⌠I meant that-âÂ
Words are spilling out of his mouth without direction, without knowing what the hell the right thing to say was. Heâd known (y/n) for two years now, and in all of that time heâd been pretty proud of the persona heâd built up to be sure that he was always the cool one, the guy she could rely on to be smooth and popular. He felt pathetic now, letting his own secrets slip and stuttering over himself like an idiot.
The corners of (y/nâs) lips twitched into a smile the longer he flustered over who-knows-what. It catches his attention when she unintentionally lets out a little laugh.
âSorry,â She apologizes right away. âSorry, Iâm not laughing at you. I just⌠are you trying to say that you wanted me to kiss you? For the cam game?âÂ
She tries not to sound so hopeful that it comes across desperate, but the mere idea that Satoru had wanted a kiss from her had her chest thrumming with butterflies.
Satoruâs throat feels dry, and suddenly her gaze feels like a spotlight. The intensity has the hair on the back of his neck standing up. He pulls the hat off his head to run a hand through his hair to relieve the heat.
âWell⌠yeah,â He admits, sounding more bashful than she ever would have thought he was capable of. Her small smile turned a little brighter, and he tried to get his voice back. âNot that I need a silly game to kiss you, obviously-âÂ
âObviouslyâ She repeats the word fondly, giving him a small nod.
âBut- s-still, the kiss cam, wouldâve been⌠funâ He admits sheepishly. She giggles, nodding her head again.
âWell, it was fun, for the record,â She teases, earning a roll of his eyes from behind his shades. She steps closer to him then, a tilt in her head as she takes in the obvious nerves written on his face. âBut if you wanted to kiss me, you couldâve just askedâÂ
âI was going to,â He argued, his hands moving about erratically. âIt's not my fault Shoko beat me to it!âÂ
She giggled at his drama, reaching out and grabbing his hands as they flew around, still laughing as he froze up again from the sudden touch.
âYou know, it didnât exactly mean anything when Shoko did it,â She suggested. âI know thereâs not any cameras⌠butâŚâÂ
Satoru raised a brow.
â(y/l/n) (y/n),â He gasped dramatically, âAre you asking me to kiss you?âÂ
Her cheeks tint pink as she bites back her smile, giving him a small nod of her head. He smiles back at her, pulling his hands out of hers and dropping his hat so he could lay them across her jaw, tilting her head upwards so he didnât have to lean down as far to reach her. Â
She doesnât wait a second longer for him, closing her eyes and leaning up on the tips of her toes so she could press her lips against his. Satoruâs quick to reciprocate, his fingers flexing against her skin, holding on as tight as he can without hurting her as he deepens the kiss right away. She has to grab him by the shoulders to keep herself balanced.
His lips are soft, and taste sugary like the cotton candy heâd been eating. Sheâd always thought heâd taste a little bit like sugar, what with how much of it he consumes. It makes her smile to know first hand.
When they break the kiss, he steals one more quick peck from her, grinning with excitement before he pulls away so he can pick up his forgotten hat from the ground.
âFeel better now?â She teases as he slings his arm around her shoulder to head back towards their seats.
âMhm,â He hums, pulling his cap over her head and smiling as it slips down her forehead. He pokes it upwards with his index finger, then pokes the tip of her nose. âBut next game I bring you to, I get the kiss cam kiss, alright?âÂ
Thereâs a gleam in her eye and a blush on her face as she leans into him, matching his steps as they head down the stairs to their seats. As shameless as ever, she canât help but tease him.
âThen sit on my left next timeâ ___

bitch, iâm a mother! | f1
female driver x f1 drivers (platonic) i like that almost every story i read about a female driver her team ends up being porsche and Iâm not mad about it :) so for this fic, the reader is driving for porsche lol also Iâm just making up names for the engineers and team principal. also because Iâm in love with charlie hunnam, my man is gonna make an appearance
part 1 part 3
Y/N BEING THE MOTHER OF EVERY DRIVER IN THE PADDOCK
âY/n is so great, youâre going to love her. Sheâs the best.â Oscar listened to his new teammate as they walked into the Porsche hospitality. The rookie immediately felt out of place with him being the only one in papaya colors while Lando was in casual clothes.
âHey, Lando!â
âLando! Howâs it going?â
âNorris, hey!â
Lando greeted most of the Porsche team with a smile while Oscar nodded at them. âI hang out here sometime if you couldnât tell.â Lando joked.
âSo if I canât find you in Mclaren . . â
âThereâs a big chance I might be here.â
Oscar nodded once again. âNoted. Whereâs Y/n?â
As if on cue, Y/n walked into the Porsche hospitality with her team principal by her side. Once she spotted Lando, she called out his name. As the Brit approached the driver and team principal, he gave her a big hug. It was the start of the 2023 season and they hadnât seen each in a while, of course he was going to give her a hug.
âIâll see you around, Y/n. Nice to see you, Lando, and you must be mclarenâs rookie. Welcome to F1, Iâm Adam.â The Porsche team principal greeted Oscar.
âThank youââ before Oscar could continue, Y/n cut him off.
âIâve heard so many great things about you! And youâre an Aussie too! What is it with Mclaren and Aussies? Whatever, Iâm glad youâre here, Oscar. I hope you enjoy yourself. Have you eaten yet? I was just in my way to get breakfast. Let me tell you a secret, the Porsche hospitality has the best food in the paddock.â Oscar instantly felt at home with the female driver. She had a comforting presence that Oscar immediately took notice of.
âTold you sheâs the best. Just wait until itâs your birthday. She bakes you a cake.â Lando told Oscar.
The entire grid was together for their drivers briefing early in the morning. After going over every detail of the upcoming Grand Prix, the race director decided to let the drivers voice their concerns.
âDoes anyone have any questions?â
Y/n raised her hand. âI wanna know who banned the pit wall celebration.â
âAnyone else?â
âYeah, Iâd like to know as well.â Lewis added.
âWe can discuss pit wall celebrations at a later time. Excuse me, I am needed somewhere else.â The race director excused himself.
âDonât worry, I donât care about being banned. Iâll be there like a proud mom taking millions of pictures of you when you win.â Y/n whispered to Lewis as she layed her head on his shoulder.
âAnd Iâll be doing the same when you win.â Lewis replied.
âWhat about when I win? I also want millions of pictures taken of me and the exact same chocolate cake you baked for me for my birthday a year ago. Extra sprinkles please.â Lando smiled innocently.
âFine, win first then Iâll bake. Shouldnât be that hard unless you got a tractor for a car.â Y/n teased. âI love you, Lando. Of course Iâll take millions of pictures of you when you win.â
It was a perfect day to race in Silverstone. Like always, Lando had his family in attendance. He was in the mclaren garage when he spotted Y/n on one of the tvs being interviewed by Lissie.
âHey, thatâs my grid mum!â He told his engineer as if his engineer didnât already know. His smile quickly faded when a blonde man appeared behind Y/n in sunglasses. Lando then watched as the manâs name appeared on the tv.
Charlie Hunnam, actor.
Who was he and why was he with his grid mom?
âHey, thatâs the dude from Sons of Anarchy! My wife watches that series.â Lando heared someone say. He continued to watch the screen as Lissie asked Charlie a question about Y/n.
âSheâs incredible, absolutely amazing. Iâm happy I finally get to see her talent in person.â Charlie replied, smiling at Y/n which made her blush.
âHeâs British . . â he mumbled.
After Lissie thanked Y/n and Charlie for the interview, the camera kept rolling on them as they walked away. Thatâs when Lando saw Charlie hold Y/nâs hand then pressed a kiss to the back of it.
âSheâs dating a British man and she didnât tell me?!â
Lando immediately walked out the garage and straight to the Porsche garage. He had a strong feeling Y/n would be showing her new lover around so he started there. He soon spotted the couple talking with the Porsche team principal, Adam.
âOh, hey Lando! I was about to look for you. I want you to meet Charlie.â Y/n excused herself from Adam and introduced Charlie to her grid son.
âItâs very nice to meet you, mate. Y/n had told me a lot about you.â Charlie smiled.
âYeah, Iâve heard nothing about you. Nada, zero, not a single thing, zilch.â Lando then turned his attention to Y/n. âI think we need to talk.â
âOkay . . â Y/n said confused as she turned to Charlie to tell him she would be right back. Lando took her hand and dragged her to a corner away from Charlie. âLando! Whatâs wrong? Are you nervous about today?â
âWhy didnât you tell me you had a boyfriend?â
Oh.
âYou always tell me everything and now I kinda feel betrayed. Especially when i also found out heâs British!â Lando said dramatically.
âLando, Iâm sorry I didnât tell you, but it just sorta happened. We met a few months ago and heâs made me the happiest ever since. I wanted to introduce you properly today.â Y/n explained.
âHe makes you happy? Like genuinely happy? Because if he doesnât I will run him over repeatedly.â Lando warned.
Y/n laughed and brought Lando in for a hug. âI know you would, but thereâs no need for that. I think heâs the one.â
âBefore you leave, thereâs actually one more gift for you and you donât have to guess who itâs from.â
Logan was confused, but happily accepted the gift. It was the annual F1 secret santa and he had just finished unwrapping his present. A gift wrapped perfectly with a blue bow was placed in front of him. The tag read âFrom Y/nâ in neat handwriting.
âThank you, Y/n! I donât even want to open it, itâs wrapped so good.â Logan chuckled.
Every year, anyone who got a nicely wrapped gift knew it was from Y/n. And any year that someone new entered the season, Y/n would give them a gift during secret santa. She did it for Lando, George, Alex, Charles, Yuki and Guanyu when they were rookies and now she was doing it for Logan and Oscar. She had even sent Nyck a present as well, she wished he was in the paddock doing secret santa as well though.
âOkay, Iâll open it, Iâm too curious.â Logan finally unwrapped the present and saw it was a Miami Heat jersey singed by LeBron James. Logan almost freaked out when he saw the signature.
âHoly shit! Wait sorry, I canât curse, but holy shit!â He took the jersey out of the box and admired it. âThis is incredible.â
âYou love it?â He heard the familiar comforting voice of Y/n from behind him. âI hope itâs the right size.â She joined Logan in front of the camera.
âIt is, donât worry,â he chuckled as he gave her a hug. âThank you so much, I love it.â
âI think you just adopted another son.â The camera man told her.
âI love all my grid sons equally.â

Y/N POV
"Love, is this okay?" I ask for a second time tonight. Lewis and I were gonna be going to a post-season party now that everyone was back in Monaco and wanted to celebrate the end of another great season.
âNo. Go changeâ Lewis tells me roughly making me groan and roll my eyes.
"Baby, what is wrong with this one?" I ask softly while approaching him. The first outfit I came out in was just my lingerie wanting to tease Lewis but this was what I had been planning to wear and I was a bit confused as to why he was saying no.
"Doesn't match my outfit," Lewis tells me softly making me laugh and shake my head.
"So glad it was because the color of my dress was wrong and not you becoming an insecure man worried about my legs showing," I tell him softly making him scoff jokingly before we both break into a small fit of laughter.
"Never that, can I pick," Lewis asks with a boyish glint in his eye making me smile softly and nod my head yes. Lewis softly pushes me off his lap before we both make our way into our large shared closet where he instantly starts looking for a dress that would match his outfit.
"How about this?" Lewis asked softly while holding up a light blue dress with a deep V neckline that showed off my tits and curves perfecting. It was one of Lewis's favorite dresses I have ever owned so I'm not in the least bit surprised.
"I don't know. I feel like it shows too much skin," I tell Lewis softly while walking over to the other side of my closet where I pull out a dress in the same shade of blue but a bit more modest making Lewis's face turn upwards in disgust.
"Do you enjoy pissing me off?" Lewis says almost in a joking manner.
"I picked this one 'cause I wanna show you off tonight," Lewis explains softly making me smile and nod my head.
"Fine, only because we are celebrating you and your final season with Mercedes coming to an end," I tell him softly while slipping off the first dress I had on and letting Lewis help me into the dress he had picked.
When Lewis had the dress all the way zipped up we both walked over to the full-length mirror where we both looked into it and smiled.
"God, you are the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen," Lewis groans softly making me smile.
"You really know your stuff," I joke while stroking my hands down my dress making sure it's laying on my body just right.
"We leave in 30 minutes, are you all ready?" Lewis asked softly while still longuing in just his boxers knowing he will only need a couple of minutes to throw his outfit on.
"Ya, just need to put my lipstick on," I tell him softly while making my way to where he was sitting on the bed before crawling into his laps.
"30 minutes is enough time to let me ride you," I saw with a smirk making Lewis groan and helps rut my hips into his hardening cock.
"Fuck, you little minx," Lewis says with a smirk making me whimper and pull off the dress Lewis had just helped me pick out.
Once I'm down into just my thong I feel Lewis pull his hard cock out of his boxers making me whimper when I see how hard he already is.
"Go on," Lewis says with a smirk while rubbing a few fingers through my soaked folds making me whimper as I situate myself over his cock before sinking down slowly.
"Oh god," I whimper once Lewis is fully seated in my pussy. I start rocking my hips trying to stretch myself as much as possible on Lewis's cock before I start bouncing.
âGonna let me cum in you? I know you wanna have my baby,â Lewis groaned out making me whimper and nod my head.
"Yes cum in me tonight Lewis, please," I beg bouncing faster trying to hit all the right stops before Lewis roughly flips us over so I am now on my back letting Lewis fuck into me making me whimper.
"Fuck, I can see you in me," I gasp when I look down and notice Lewis's cock is creating a bulge in my stomach everytime he pushes in.
"Soon, instead of my cock giving you a bump it's gonna be my babies," Lewis groan speeding up his actions making me cry out when i feel his fingers on my clit.
"Oh god, it's too much," I gasp through tears pouring down my face making Lewis smirk at the sight.
âGod, I love watching your makeup get ruined,â Lewis comments when he sees my tears starting to streak my mascara.
"Fuck Lewis, slow down a bit," I groan which only makes Lewis speed up sending me into a quick and powerful orgasm.
"Oh god," I cry out as Lewis continued fucking me through my first orgasm of the night.
"Lewis, hurry I have to fix my makeup," I whine when I notice he is in no way slowing down.
"Wrong, wanna try again," Lewis groans when he hears the mention of my makeup being fixed.
"Just take it off then. I'm not done with this sweet little pussy," Lewis continues making my head spin from all the pleasure.
"Lew, I feel like I might cum again," I whine out making Lewis speed up his thrust a bit.
"Fuck I'm gonna put a baby in you," Lewis groans when he can feel himself getting close to the edge as well.
"Cum with me," Lewis says roughly before he starts spilling his seed deep into my pussy sending me into another screaming orgasm. Once Lewis helps the both of us ride out our orgasm he quickly moves my thong back into place to capture as much of his cum as possible.
"Don't you fucking dare change those! Want you to feel my cum all night, remind you that you're mine," Lewis tells me while leaning down and kissing my lips before finding my discarded dress on the ground and helping me back into it before I head into the bathroom to see the damage done on my makeup.
It wasn't the worst it could have been but it could be better. I quickly touch up my makeup slightly keeping some smudge mascara around my eyes. To anyone that wasn't Lewis and I they would assume I was going for a smoked-out eyeliner look but Lewis and I would know the truth that it came from crying while he filled up my pussy.
"Gonna look so pretty pregnant," Lewis said softly while coming into the bathroom and wrapping his arms around my waist.
"You think it's only gonna take one time," I tease with a raised brow.
"Oh don't worry I'm gonna fill that pussy up every day until I see a positive test," Lewis said with a smirk making me laugh lightly.
"When we get home can we have a serious conversation about this. I don't wanna get my hopes up if you're not serious," I tell Lewis softly making him smile and nod his head.
"well, to ease your mind I am very serious. I will be the father of your children and you're the only woman worthy to carry on the Hamilton legacy. But yes we can have a conversation tonight," Lewis tells me softly pulling me in for a quick kiss before we got a call letting us know our driver was here.

The Tip Of The Iceberg ¡ Owl City
Grumpy x sunshine
Winter wonderland
DPxDC Love at Frost Sight
Jason's favorite season of the year was fall. Early fall, to be exact, when the trees become red and golden, and the air smells of pumpkin spice because of all the coffeeshops simultaneously deciding it's the time to bring it back once again, and it's not yet cold enough to wear a coat, but just cool enough to put on a comfy sweater.
On the other hand, his least favorite season was winter. All of it, starting from late November and ending in early April. His bones ached in the cold that no coat could manage to keep out, the roads were always slippery, no matter how much salt was thrown over them, and he despised the amounts of hot tea he had to drink to keep himself from freezing to death.
Not to mention the lack of sunlight, the vitamins he had to take daily, the shiver that ran down his body when he stepped out of the shower and-
"You know, if you keep frowning like that, people are going to start thinking I've brought you here under the threat of a gun."
Jason blinks and tears his gaze away from the dimly lit, snowy scenery of Robinson Park and looks to Jazz, who is walking just beside him, a steaming cup of coffee in her fingers. She looks beautiful, even wearing a puffy purple jacket that makes her look like an off-color penguin and a knitted hat that hides all her red hair.
Jason huffs and rubs his forehead, smoothing the wrinkle between his eyebrows manually.
"You still hadn't told me why are we taking a walk in the park instead of doing literally anything else," he reminds her, and Jazz smiles, holding her chin higher.
"I have my reasons," she tells, her voice full of mischief. Jason rolls his eyes and hides his freezing palms deeper in his pockets. "We're almost there, don't roll your eyes at me," Jasmine shorts a short laugh and pokes him in the side.
Almost where, he wants to ask, because he is pretty sure she can't show him anything he hasn't seen before in here. He is a Gothamite, after all, and she just moved here two years ago, and Robinson Park couldn't have changed that much since his whole dying and coming back act.
But then, Jazz finishes her coffee in a few large gulps, tossing the empty cup into the nearest bin, and takes his elbow, all but dragging him forward, off the path and into the who knows where.
Jason stumbles over his feet but catches himself quickly enough to not faceplant the snow. Yet, that doesn't help in the slightest with figuring out where they are going because, well, it's half-past-six, which means it's already rather dark around them even with all of the street lights, and Jazz can be really fast when she wants to, and-
"Here," his impossible girlfriend suddenly stops, so abruptly like she's just ran into a wall. Jason, despite all his vigilante training, is not capable of canceling the laws of inertia on command, so he takes a few more steps forward to slow down.
"And what exactly is here?" He shakes his head, trying very hard not to snap, because he is cold, and he doesn't like surprises, and Jazz can be frustrating more than she likes to admit. But, before she can answer, and before Jason is able to put all that winter irritation into words, there's a snap.
Jason turns his head sharply, looking for the source of it just out of habit.
And halts, feeling his eyes go wide and his head completely empty.
The lights appear one by one, a slow, charming process of illuminating the small clearing they've run into. Warm and fuzzy, like tiny stars, or maybe fairy lights, but with no strings to hold them, they light up the trees and the sparkling, untouched snow under their feet. Jason blinks. The sight that he's grown to associate only with those decorative glass balls full of fake snow doesn't shatter.
And, to be fair, Jason knew winter could be beautiful - he's seen countless pictures and movies, and he understood the appeal it had on some people. But he's never really felt it, what with winters in Gotham, even at Christmas Eve, being more glum and gray than sparkling white and twinkling pretty.
But this is exactly that.
The tall trees covered in white snow, the gentle fall of snowflakes over them, the bright yellow lights that surround them.
"Close your mouth, love, you'll catch a cold," he hears Jazz say with a fond, soft laugh, and only then he realizes he is gaping.
His mouth closes back with a snap as he turns to face his girlfriend.
"How did you..." he trails off, not even sure what he's asking. How did she bring a fairytale into life? How did she find this place? How did she manage to bring him here?..
Jazz's teal eyes hold the reflections of countless warm lights around them, and she is grinning from ear to ear, her hand finding Jason's to intertwine their fingers.
"Danny helped," she admits, "But I just wanted you to see it. See why I love winter - not just because my brother is a living icicle, but because winter is magic, in a sense. It's only in winter that you can feel what's really warm and what's not."
Jason has half of a thought to ask her what she means, but he gets it just a moment before the words fall out of his mouth.
Because this, standing in the silent snowfall among the tiny lights of miniature stars, holding Jazz's hand in his, is warm. Not in a literal sense - his skin is still moments away from freezing - but something inside his chest feels like a tiny, flickering flame.
And that flame makes him smile.
"It's very pretty," he says, not taking his eyes off Jazz, and watches her cheeks become pink.
Somehow, he is certain it's not because of the cold.
~â˘~â˘~â˘~
This was written to not one but two Owl City songs. The first one was, as requested, 'The Tip of The Iceberg', and the second was 'Peppermint Winter', my all-time favorite winter song.
And here's the additional aesthetic!
Danny, who is responsible for the gently falling snowflakes and keeping the lights from going out, sitting invisible in a tree above them: what great lengths do I go for you, Jazz, you better get me something nice for Christmas or I swear to Ancients-

pls take care of him :(
finds the other boys annoying when they're high lol but still does it with them because they're his baby brothers and he loves them no matter how much they piss him off <33
cannot smoke without you because he'd spend the entire sesh going "where's my baby?? i wanna see my baby, i miss them so much :(("
ěëš SOOBIN âđ
the kind to just stare blankly at the wall for hours
"bin, you okay?" "uh huh..."

you honestly kind of love it because you'll have conversations about your future and your relationship that gyu wouldn't take seriously sober
he's very upfront and straightforward with his feelings when he's stoned, which is so unlike him
says some corny shit with stars in his eyes like "i wanna spend forever with you" and then regrets it later because he sounded like a dweeb
he's so whipped for you and he can't hide it :<

âdo crabs think fish are flying??â type mf i love him very much
íí TAEHYUN âđ
this might be an unpopular opinion but tyun is absolutely the biggest stoner out of the five of them
i feel like he would smoke to relax, not necessarily to get high-- he's on stress overdrive 24/7, especially during comeback season,, he smokes to finally make his brain go quiet for at least a night
big social smoker but also enjoys smoking alone or just with you
i see him the most like his sober self, quiet and content and not really paying much attention to anything
normally you have to fight him to get his picture taken but when he's stoned he'll just let you shove a camera in his face and you love it sm,, "tyunnie!! baby! smile!"
very content with letting you sit on his lap while he zones out, nuzzling his neck-- he loves feeling needed, loves taking care of you
thinks everyone else is very entertaining, just enjoys watching his brothers act like idiots
he's such a bottled up guy, doesn't like to show or talk about how he's feeling ;; but he'll open up easily once you get him loosened up
í´ëěš´ě´ HUENING KAI âđ
i want to smoke with this boy so bad. it's not even funny.
he's so cuddly and sweet and giggly,,, i lob him,,
he gets too out of it to kiss you so he makes your plushies kiss eachother instead hehe
kiss his freckles :< just give him so many smooches all over his face while he laughs that it tickles
spooning is a need not a want. he'd rest his chin on the top of your head and hold you soso close while you lay on his bed watching a movie ;;
like soobin he probably gets overstimulated easily,, he needs the lights off and he likes when you wear soft/fuzzy clothes,, ur his plushie now :<
will not let you get up for anything at all. will literally follow you to the bathroom and wait outside of the door like a puppy
SOOO much skinship he needs to touch and be touched so badly
goes totally nonverbal when he's stoned. will not say a word for hours
TUMMY RUBS also lays his head on your belly ;;
thinks literally everything is funny. show him a picture of like. a horse and he'd laugh at it

everybody wants a taste vol. 2 l Lando Norris
a/n: i just had to write this to have a clear mind. it'snot the best, i'm sorry but i hope you like it anyway <3 i have a project in mind that I CANNOT WAIT to share so i needed to write this after months of promising, i'm sorry.
summary: everybody wants a taste part ii
Lando did everything he could to stop his mind from thinking about you and why you still werenât in the hotel room.Â
You were wrong, you were oh-so-wrong from walking away like that in the middle of an argument, especially when he was trying to let you know how he was feeling, letting out the repressed emotions boiling in his chest for weeks, maybe he didnât want to say out loud that they had been gnawing his insides for months now. Â
But when he noticed the expensive velvet dress lifeless on the floor, his heart beat faster and his hands started sweating as he reminisced about the FaceTime call while he was racing in Mexico and you were in Paris, trying to get the phone to stay upright to show him the different gowns for the multiple red carpets awaiting, planning on the color of his bowtie and shoes, whining when you insisted he had to shave, at least for the Oscars.Â
He was sad, yes, but it didnât mean he wasnât pissed off still. Lando was not going to back off, not this time. The problem was, neither were you while you walked towards the hotel room to collect your things.Â
It probably was the most silent plane ride either of youâd ever been on, with Lando putting on his headphones and playing a random video game as you pulled the covers and tried to get some sleep, dreading the moment you stepped inside your precious home in Montecarlo, with fans, mostly Landoâs, trying to get a peek inside the luxury car carrying you, and the painfully obvious discomfort and sadness that would go beyond the polarized windows and bright flashes.
Because that was it for the rest of the time.Â
Silence.
Itâs not like you decided to sweep it under the rug and pretend it never happened, no, it was lingering in the air; whenever you woke up, when he texted âI love youâ when you let him know you got a new role, when he spent some days in England and only texted once he was there, when he felt an enormous surge of pride when your name was announced as a nominee for the Golden Globes, but seconds later his name was announced as well.Â
And it all came back.Â
Rumors started flooding, and you werenât stupid, making an extreme effort to fly to Abu Dhabi to support him during the last race of the season, even if it meant not sleeping for almost 48 hours and flying from one continent to the other in the middle of a press tour.Â
Maybe that was the beginning of starting to feel like yourself again, when he spotted you and gave you his thousand dollar smile, with his eyes shining so bright in the night, his arms embracing your body as your lips found his forehead before his traveled to their home on your lips.Â
It was blissful, going Christmas shopping together hand in hand, carrying a list to not forget something, walking hand in hand in the cold weather, and smiling at anyone who recognized you, even if the security guard walking a few steps ahead of you warned you werenât stopping for photos that day.
The problem was the loud places outside and cute gifts, mixing families and kisses over the helmet, were just a moment during the loud silence, the plastic smiles, falling asleep alone on your bed while you listened to his high-pitched laugh through the walls.Â
And in the blink of an eye, Hollywood called back and you were gone again.Â
It was hard to hide the fact your boyfriend wasnât with you during his free time as he usually would, he was more than acquainted with movie critics and journalists, just as you were in the different tracks, whenever possible people knew Lando would be by your side and youâd be right there next to him.Â
Maybe the saddest part, you thought, was the text you received saying he wouldnât be able to attend the Golden Globes, the night you were expected to win and keep hyping up the way to the golden statue.Â
âcanât go darling, they need me in HQ and then some quadrant stuffâ
You ignored the pain when the stylist asked the color of your dress and if Lando was gonna wear a matching bow tie, when fans asked where he was and you had to answer he was busy even if there were videos of him on TikTok driving around Monaco and spending nights at Jimmiz.Â
Lando swears he didnât start acting like that to hurt you, things just happened that way. The likes under some random beautiful girl on Instagram were just a thing of the moment, she was the girlfriend of a friend and could use the boost, or she was super nice during a night out, or she was at the apartment of some random person youâd never heard about before.Â
Testing started and you werenât there, but it was easier for Lando to explain your absence: âSheâs getting ready for the big night, the Oscars are around the corner and none of us need the distractions right nowâ
User1: yikes, not Lando saying his girlfriend is a distraction ON A LIVE INTERVIEW
User2: I give them 3 months, tops.Â
User3: nah I think they broke up already, theyâve been miserable since her movie premiered
User4: you mean y/nâs been miserable bc I know my boy Lando has been hitting the clubs and the likes
User5: he deserves it after his gf fucked tom holland though
User6: itâs called acting.Â
User5: it sure as hell didnât look like it
User7: what was the name of that portuguese girl again????
You swore you wouldnât see comments, but it was an impossible task, even if the result was you crying in a hotel room, alone, helpless as all you received were heart emojis, blue tickets, and voicemail.Â
The Oscars came and he promised heâd be there.Â
It was tense, but you tried your best to ignore it and say it was nerves, youâd never been nominated before and it felt like you were going to be sick.Â
Then, a streak of light appeared the night before when he held you tight, kissed your forehead, and said you were the best, that you were going to win and if you didnât it wasnât important because this was the first of many.Â
And then, your mind cleared of all the comments, the seen messages, and the little white lies.Â
You both walked the red carpet, with big smiles, and sparkly eyes as the crowd swooned while watching Lando help you with the dress, fixing your hair, carrying your purse. It was all a blur until they called your name.
Lando was the first one up, ignoring etiquette and bending and kissing you while you were processing what had just happened. The thing is, even in that hazy moment you noticed the grip of his hand on your waist tightened when Tom congratulated you before you started the short walk to the stage.
You thanked the crew, the producers, fellow actors, and Lando for his unconditional support. Even if you and he knew it was a blatant lie because of the months of uncertainty if he was with someone else, the miserable feeling of doubting yourself because maybe, just maybe, you werenât enough for him; beautiful, rich, talented, exceptional Lando Norris.Â
Lando maybe suspected it but didnât say anything as the flight from Los Angeles to Monaco repeated itself, but one thing was different. Yes, it was quiet, but not tense, he saw you concentrated on reading a book, not giving him much attention.Â
The car ride was the same, with flashes and people trying to reach both of you, but Lando more as he stayed behind.Â
You were inside the car and observed him, the beautiful women asking to have five seconds with him and he did everything with a smile. Maybe you could throw a tantrum because he was always surrounded by beautiful and smart girls who wanted a little bit of his attention, a part of his job? The answer was bitter.Â
The apartment was tranquil, the view of the marina breathtaking, but you knew this was the last of you there, this wasnât home anymore.
And Lando knew it right when he saw you standing in the middle of the living room, not letting go of the luggage you were carrying, and your eyes were watery as your lips reddened.Â
âPlease donât,â he whispered, you were barely able to hear him.Â
Tears were streaming down your face as you shook your head, âYou know it has to be this way. Itâs not fair for usâŚâ You took a deep breath. âNo, you know? Itâs unfair to me because youâre living your life, which is fine, but you left me behind because of what? Jealousy? No, Lando, justâŚâ
Lando was silent: âI know, I know it was wrong Iâm so sorry,â he mumbled.
âI know you are, but I think⌠Iâm done for now, I deserve better and you do as well, you have to be with someone who makes you feel secure and thatâs not me⌠Iâm sorry.â
So you left Monaco, left Lando, hung the VIP McLaren lanyards, and said goodbye to the track.
You didnât feel better, Lando didnât feel better, but it was for the best.
Or something like that.Â

Another JWCT season 2 Kenlynn analysis because I'm obsessed and I don't know if the writers are geniuses, or if I'm getting worked up over a whole lot of nothing đ.
So, bear with me.
Kenji's arc in season 2 is clear from the first episode: he's throwing himself at danger because of the losses he's suffered. He's broken.
But in all that sadness, he has one last glimmer of hope: Bumpy's egg.
He's the one the most attached to it, even more so than Ben. After all these losses, it's the first sign of something good happening in his life. It's the contrary of death, a birth, "someone" new he can love.
During the entire season he's the most concerned with the egg, obsessed with getting it back, almost dying for it (more on that later).
Now flashfoward to episode 8: he discovers that Brooklynn is alive.
When he finds out, he's confused, hurt, mad, shook to his core (but props to the animators, for a split second...you can see that he is just... so happy).
"She's alive?"
But the hurt and feeling of betrayal is too hard for him to grasp, so he pushes all his feelings away. He knows it's not the time.
And what does he do in order to push away his feelings about Brooklynn?
He focuses on the egg, as we established the only thing in his life which isn't tarnished or hurtful. And he desperately needs it right now, now that his whole world is crumbling down even more. This shift in his priorities is shown when he says this:
"The eggs... Brooklynn took Bumpy's egg..."
At this point, Kenji's motivations are still unclear, but this line suggests that his main goal, the thing the most important to him at this moment is the same as it was at the beggining of the season, aka getting Bumpy's egg back... not getting to Brooklynn.
So when he goes berserk, driving like a madman, running as if his life depended on it to get to Brooklynn, of course we have the feeling that he wants to see her, but he's also running to achieve his objective, which has always been to take care of Bumpy's egg, and it just so happens that Brooklynn is the one obstacle to his goal.
We can see he's desperate, but it's left to interpretation as to exactly why.
Until he finally catches up to Brooklynn.
It's Brooklynn's hand he grabbs, not the case. The thing he wanted the most is in his direct reach, yet he grabbs her hand. In this moment, he completely forgets about the egg, not even sparing it a glance, not mentionning it even once.
"Brooklynn..."
All that matters to him is that the girl he loves is there, in front of him, which he thought would never happen again.
We finally have the confirmation that the reason he was so eager to run to that airport wasn't to get the egg back, but to see her. And not to get mad at her, no, just to... get her back.
And then, Brooklynn leaves.
She leaves them, but she leaves him. It's him she looks at the last, his grasp she frees herself from, him who utters her name afterward.
They're still at the center of the scene, and the scene is a direct call back to the break-up scene (also... their colors are matching, it's like not even a little subtle, which tells me there's a reason Brooklynn wore a dark blue shirt the entire season...which is SO NOT her color).
Notice how even there, it's Ben who remembers to ask Brooklynn to give them the egg.
"Wait! Bumpy's egg... it's in that case..."
It's SO FAR from being something Kenji can focus on right now, now that Brooklynn is in front of him.
We then find out that before boarding the plane, Brooklynn has given Kenji the egg. Not Ben (who was the one who asked for it), not Darius, but Kenji.
...And Kenji looks the most heart-broken he has ever looked.
He has just gotten his hands on what he thought he wanted the most, his ultimate goal this season, the very thing he threw himself into fire for, into an ocean beaten by the storm... and yet he's not even looking at it, his eyes instead watching the plane take off with Brooklynn inside.
He's gotten what he thought he wanted, but at what price?
It's not to diminish his link to Bumpy's egg. As I've shown, he risked his life countless times for it. But it just goes to show just how much Brooklynn matters to him. In that last scene, it's made clear that the thing he wanted the most, was for her to come back to them, to him. But she didn't, and gave him the egg to make up for it, as some sort of consolation price.
But it's not, and it will never be.
#I'm soooo over interpreting but idc#don't know if the writers thought about all of this but I did and it's f*cking poetic and tragic#he loves her so much#and I love them so much#romeo and juliet who?#no shade to Bumpy's egg#we love Bumpy's egg#kenlynn#jwct#jwct season 2#jwcc#camp cretaceous#chaos theory#chaos theory spoiler#dreamworks#jurassic park#jurassic world#analysis#kenji kon#darius bowman#yasmina fadoula#sammy gutierrez#ben pincus#brooklynn jwct

FIA Awards
AG5 Universe
summary: Ace and Lando are in Rwanda for the FIA Awards
warnings: Ace thirsting over Lando (like the rest of us)
Spending a few days in Monaco was refreshing, it was nice to be back in her and Landoâs home, doing some errands together. But as soon as they arrived they left for Rwanda for the Prize Giving Ceremony. Ace was there for two prizes this evening which is something she never expected.
âWeâre joined by Lando Norris and Ace Giovanelli, how are you both today? Ace you look lovely.â Ace and Lando smiled politely. âShe does doesn't she?" Lando agreed, "Weâre great, and you?â Lando added sweetly. âYes weâre great. Are you excited for tonight?â
âOh yes we are.â Ace spoke up looking at Lando. âWeâre very happy to be in new places and Rwanda is a new place for usâŚâ
A day priorâŚ.
Ace and Lando were on stream with Max playing Tarkov once again. âWhy the hell do we have to fly all the way to Africa?â Lando groaned as his and Aceâs phones buzzed with an itinerary from Zak. âThatâs such a long flight.â Ace also groaned. âWell you two must have been doing something right this season to have been invitedâŚ"
The opening ceremony was very special to Ace. Being a person of color in this world was hard. Everyday she was fighting 10x harder just because of the color of her skin. Seeing the unashamed culture of the country, from the continent of her ancestors warmed her heart. They would never be able to shut their culture down.
Lando was sitting next to her, in their own row. F1 had their own row in the front. Landoâs hand was interlaced with her left hand brushing over the engagement ring. âThis is our first outing being engaged.â Lando whispered to her. Ace looked down at their hands then his face. âAnd I couldnât be more honoured to be the most handsome man in the room's fiancĂŠ.â Lando blushed lightly at her. He really did look so amazing.Â
The first award of the night was Karting Championships and Ace was very ready to see Lando give Kenzo his trophy. Ace watched with heart eyes as Lando spoke and handed out the awards, his engagement band shining in the lights.
âAdvice?â Lando repeated as he was asked to give advice to three karting champions, going shy. âI have trouble with these kinds of things, but just do what you continue to do, believe in yourself, youâre holding this trophy for a reason, continue to work hard, and you may take my seat one day.â
Ace smiled as Lando was a natural talent when talking to the younger generation. He stayed to give Kenzo another fan voted award, before he was free from stage duties. âI know Lando was giving out awards, but who does Kenzo look up to the most?â They asked his dad.
âWell, as some may know, Lewis Hamilton, but towards the end of this season heâs said how much he adores Ace Giovanelli. So both of them I would say.â Ace placed a hand to heart at the new information. Her and Lewis were always supporting him, but to hear that he looked up to her was something she never imagined.
Lando came back from behind the stage and sat next to her lacing their hands. âI just gave him an award and heâs trying to steal my wife?â He joked. âYou have serious competition, heâs already taken your Karting award.â Lando laughed, bringing their hands to his lips. âIâll fight for you, if I have to.â Ace shook her head, a feeling of warmth clouding her. âJe t'aime.â She whispered, kissing his hand. They went through the next set of awards and through them Lando just played with her hand and ring discreetly through them.
During the memory of everyone that passed this year Ace got emotional. Everyday would she think of Jules, and what his tragedy did to the world of motor racing. Lando squeezed her hand as he saw her eyes gloss over.Â
Ace cheered when Klara won the fan award for WRC. Women were taking this sport over one award at a time.Â
Tom then asked Christian about Mclaren and how they did winning this season constructors. After that, they moved onto Formula E. Ace, Lando, and the rest of Mclaren cheered when Sam Bird won the fan award for Formula E.
The next set of awards were rookie of the year but before that were performances from some of Rwandaâs finests. If Ace walked out of here with nothing, she walked out with appreciation for cultural representation.Â
Ace was proud to see her name on the rookie list. Max gave the award to Gabriel Borteleto whom Ace had gotten to know as he was a McLaren junior driver and had driven her car in the past.Â
Ace was proud when Nyck won, he deserved it after everything that happened in F1 for him. The lifetime achievement award was up next. Mohamed went back up on stage as everyone listened to his small speech. â... she came into this sport and fought endlessly, she is making history every day. Ace Giovanelli is history.â Ace clapped a hand over her shocked face, she did not know what was happening.
âAce, you made so many milestones this yearâŚâ He continued as Lando helped her stand up and get to the stage, she was still in shock. âI donât deserve this.â She whispered to Mohamed. âOh, yes you do.â He shook her off. âNow, Ace this was surprise but I want to show everyone a video of why you were chosen for this.â
The lights dimmed as the room hushed in anticipation. A video began to play on the massive screen behind them, the opening frame showing a black-and-white photo of a young Ace Giovanelli in her karting gear, a determined glint in her eye.
The montage began with clips of Ace's early karting days, weaving through tight corners with precision and winning junior championships.
A voiceover from Alain Prost played: "Even then, you could see she had something specialâa fire, an intuition for racing that canât be taught. She was destined for greatness."
The screen transitioned to her F3 debut, a young Ace climbing out of her car after a podium finish, grinning ear to ear. Moments from her F2 career followed: her first win, her daring overtakes, and the celebrations with her team as she secured the championship title.
"Ace came into F2 like a storm," said Max in an interview clip. "She dominated, she inspired, and most importantly, she paved the way for others. Watching her was like seeing a masterpiece in motion."
The footage shifted to her in F1. The McLaren garage erupted in cheers as Ace crossed the finish line in P1 in the Qatar Sprint in her rookie season.
"Iâll never forget her first podium in Formula 1," Charles shared in his segment. "She wasnât just fastâshe was fearless. She outbraked me and I thought, âOkay, this isnât just a rookie. This is a future champion.â"
The montage grew more emotional as it chronicled her historic first win at Hungary. The screen showed Ace standing atop the podium, tears streaming as the Monegasque anthem played. Then came the images of her claiming the Constructors' Championship with McLaren, the first female driver to achieve that feat.
"Ace changed the narrative," said Lando Norris. "She didnât just break recordsâshe shattered ceilings. Being her teammate has been the honour of my life."
The video slowed, showing personal moments: Ace helping young girls at karting academies, mentoring junior drivers, and celebrating with her family and friends.
The final clip was her second GP victory, the race where she clinched P3 in the Drivers' Championship. As she stepped out of the car, fists raised high, the roar of the crowd was deafening.
The montage ended with a simple quote from Ace herself: "Itâs not about being the first woman to do these thingsâitâs about ensuring Iâm not the last."
The room erupted in applause as the lights came back on. Ace stood frozen, tears streaming as Mohamed gently nudged her forward.
Mohamed smiled warmly. âAce, this award is not just for your incredible achievements on track. Itâs for your resilience, your trailblazing spirit, and the inspiration youâve given to generations of fans and drivers alike. Youâve changed the sport forever.â
The crowd rose in a standing ovation as Ace took the microphone, still overwhelmed, her voice trembling as she began to speak.
âWow. I⌠I truly donât know what to say. This is such an incredible honor, and Iâm still not sure I deserve it. But standing here, looking at all of you, I feel so overwhelmed with gratitude.â
Ace paused, her voice thick with emotion. âRacing has been my life for as long as I can remember. From those early karting days in Monaco and France, dreaming about one day driving on the streets I grew up on, to standing on the podium there⌠itâs been a journey of passion, perseverance, and a lot of help along the way.â
Ace smiled, her eyes finding Lando and Max in the audience. âTo my teammates, my mentors, my rivalsâyouâve all pushed me to be better, faster, stronger. I wouldnât be the driver or the person I am without you. And to the woman in motorsports⌠youâre the heart of this award. Thank you for believing in me, even when I doubted myself.â
Her tone softened as she looked down at the award in her hands. âThis really isnât just for me. This is for every girl who was told she didnât belong here. For every kid who dared to dream of something bigger. If my journey proves anything, itâs that thereâs no limit to what you can achieve when you fight for it.â
She straightened, her voice clear and firm. âI promise to keep fightingâto keep pushing boundaries, to keep paving the way, and to keep making history. Not for me, but for all of us.â
The room erupted in applause, the sound echoing as Ace stepped back, her smile radiant and her heart full. As she walked off the stage people took pictures of her with her award before she was headed back to her seat. âI love you. Thank you.â She whispered to the three boys next to her. âYou deserve it Ace.â Max said, squeezing her hand.
More awards for the WRC were next. Then was the FIA presidents award. Ace was still in shock when they transitioned into the Formula 1 section of the night. The video played of F2 and F3 championship battles.Â
The championship awards were given to Gabriel and Invicta. Then it was time for F1. First was the fan award for Action of the Year award. Ace and Lando looked at each other when Monza came up. They could laugh about it now, but then it was a little rough.Â
Before they announced they moved onto Tom who was speaking with a Ferrari driver from a different motorsport. Checo ended up winning the fan award, before they moved onto highlights of the year.
The video was very well put together. This season was definitely one to remember. Max got his special moments which Ace made sure to poke his leg at, knowing he hated it. They showed how the season started as another Max run, but then Carlos in Australia and Charles in Monaco and Monza and Cota played, then went back to Carlos in Mexico.
Then it went to Mercedes, showing Geroge and Lewisâ epic wins at the beginning of the season. Then the famous papaya colour filled the screen.
âEnter McLaren.â
It showed Landoâs amazing win in Miami, then the rough win in Hungary. Then back to Lando in Zandvoort, then her in Azerbaijan where they took P1 in constructors. Then Lando again in Singapore.
âMcLaren's rise was volcanic.âÂ
âIt brought a new battle, Max versus Lando.â
Ace hated watching this back, it was hard enough watching her two best friends go at it and risking their lives. But it got happy again when they showed Max winning the WDC for the 4th time. Then it went into Abu Dhabi.
âWho will we crown the constructors.â
It went into Max and Aceâs crash in the start and showed a few clips of her recovery mixed in with Landos race.Â
The video turned off after showing the team's post celebrations. âWow, what an amazing year as a fan. First we present our third place.âÂ
âYes, she took massive wins in Hungary and Baku, ladies and gentleman, Ace Giovanelli.â Ace walked out waving to the audience before greeting the presenters.Â
âAce, such a great season for you and for Mclaren. Down to the last race and ending up champions, it must make you hungry to go at it again.â
She nodded her head with a wide smile. âYes, definitely hungry for next year. We were fighting with Ferrari until the very last race but the season ended in our favour with amazing drives from Lando and I. Iâve achieved so many things this season, my first wins and then the constructors. I was on the podium in my home race next to Charles, it was everything to me, hopefully next year we can switch spots,â she laughed softly, âbut Iâm very ready to fight for more wins and even for the drivers championships next season, and hold onto the constructors.â She finished and they thanked her as she walked off with a small wave.
After her speech she walked off the stage but stayed on the side to watch Lando take his award. Everyone was so proud of him, for fighting like a champion everyone knew he would become. âI retract that comment that said it was all luck. The media likes to change things.â He disclaimed almost immediately.
They rolled Landoâs car on stage behind him which made Ace very happy. âCan we bring Ace back out please.â
She walked back out and stood next to Lando who kissed her cheek in greeting. Zak and Andrea came on stage soon after, and they four alongside the president of Rwanda and Mohamed took pictures.
Zak spoke for them, âOf course weâve been celebrating, here in Rwanda. The weekend was fantastic there in Abu Dhabi, the team, myself and Andrea, everyone at the factory did an amazing job. The fight put up by the competition was amazing. Ferrari kept us honest until the very last lap. Itâs just very nice being here and accepting awards and making history and getting it done after 26 years.â
âWell, thank you very much. Congratulations again.â
They exited the stage and Ace cheered quite loudly for Max when he was called on stage.Â
â... both Lando and Ace brought the fight, and it looks like theyâll bring again next year.â When he walked off the stage Ace and Lando faked wrestling the trophy from him. âAlright you two, at least let me have it until the new season.â
At the end they took a photo of all the winners and runner ups. Ace wasnât sure how she ended up with two trophies that night but she did. Walking out of the auditorium she was stopped many times. Many people congratulated her for her Lifetime Achievement award, P3 in the drivers, and her and Landoâs engagement. She gave as many hugs as possible with two giant awards in her hands. Her, Lando, Zak, and Andrea were pulled to the âblue carpetâ to take photos of them and their trophies.Â
The first one was just Ace and her two awards, then Lando and his runner up award. The two of them together with the constructors and their personal awards, all four of them together, then the last one was just Zak and Andrea with the constructors. Ace and Lando also took one with Max in podium order.
They all went to a different room for dinner once awards were given to some officials. F1 was sat together as normal, and Ace and Kelly spent the night taking pictures of everything and everyone. The night was filled with delicious foods and enough laughter for months. This may have been the end of the season, but it was just the beggining of everything that was to come.

You shut your eyes, exhaling. The breath that came out was shaky, and you hated it. You hated feeling this weak and unstable before a game, when usually you were all collected and confident.
Your brain was a battle of emotions. Your school, USC, was facing off against UConn in a pre-season match today, and since it was the first game of October, the administration on both teams had agreed to dedicate this game to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In a kind gesture that had left you at a loss for words, your head coach Gottlieb had organized custom pink shirts for the entire team to wear during warmup, with a painting of your grandmaâs face in the front and one of her quotes on the back - âStrength is not the absence of fear, but the courage to confront it.â Your grandma had been a force in the basketball world, being one of the founders and fighters of the WNBA, and you knowed that part of the reason why both USC and UConn were rallying so hard for breast awareness was because both coaches knew of your relationship with your grandma.
After taking a few more deep breaths, you felt calm enough to rejoin your team as they warmed up their shooting. Looking around, you laid eyes on Paige, who was silently stretching in the corner. You took her in - her blonde hair was up in her typical game day do, with her braids in the front and the rest of her hair collected into a tight ponytail. She looked good, her cheeks slightly rosy, her eyes concentrated. You felt your heatt flutter as you examined her, but your heart suddenly dropped when you realized what she was wearing.
You knew this was bad idea, but you couldnât help yourself. You found your legs pacing towards Paige, carrying you with a level of authority you didnât know you had.
âWhat the fuck is this?â
Paige turned around, her resistance band now hanging limp in her hand. She did a double take once she realized whoâd just spoken to her, her eyes carefully and unashamedly taking you in. âWhat?â
You gestured aggressively at her ahirt. âTake it off.â
Paigeâs eyes hardened as she leaned back from you. âExcuse me?â
âI said, take it off.â Your voice was icy and unfamiliar to your own ears. In your peripheral vision, you saw heads starting to turn, as girls from both teams watched with curiosity as you stepped closer to Paige, anger drawn on both of your faces.
âWhere did you even get it from?â Your voice trembled as you studied Paigeâs shirt again. It was familiar to you, because you had the exact same one, just in different colors, hanging up in your room. It was your grandmaâs jersey, from her high school team in the 1960s. As far as you knew, she only had a few, and sheâd given one to you, one that youâd viligantly taken care of since youâd received it.
Paige raised her chin defiantly. âShe gave it to me.â
Those words knocked you off your feet, and you stumbled even though youâd been standing still. âNo, she didnât.â Paige only gritted her teeth without responding. Desperate for a reaction, for anything than just silence, you continued, âShe wasnât even your grandma.â It was a low blow, and you knew it. Over the course of your friendship and then relationship, Paige had gotten almost as close to your grandma as you were. They had adored each other, and back then you had loved the way they loved each other. But now, you couldnât seem to hate anything more.
You were spiraling, a destructive disarray of grief and bitterness and jealousy. When your grandma had died two months ago, youâd wished that Paige wouldâve done more then send a couple of DMs on Twitter. But she didnât, hadnât reached out after that, which you couldnât exactly blame her for because she owed no obligation to comfort you. You guys werenât even dating anymore. But youâd hopelessly wanted Paige to do more, to show up on your doorstep and take you into her arms.
Paige, seemingly unaffected by your desperate words, regarded you coolly. âHow would you know?â she asked menacingly, the hostility in her tone sending shivers down your spine. âYou werenât even there for her in the last few months.â She paused before landing her final blow. âBut guess who was?â Her eyebrows cocked as she brushed past you and went back to her team on the court.
It felt like Paige had physically hit you, the way your heart stuttered and your mind reeled. You clenched your first, wishing youâd never came over here in the first place.
âHey.â A gentle hand brushed your shoulder. Familiar perfume filled your nostrils, and you turned around to see Caroline.
Holding back a sob, she opened her arms and you fell into them. This was too much. Your nasty exchange with Paige, combined with the loss of your grandma still achingly fresh in your mind, along with the guilt of seeing the team that youâd left without so much as a goodbye. Youâd been avoiding their looks the entire warmup. Nika had tried to talk to you earlier, but youâd brushed her off. And now, Caroline was standing in front of you, with the softest smile on her face as if you hadnât ghosted her for the last year.
Caroline, one of your closest friends from your two years at UConn, comfortingly rubbed your back as you embraced her. When you pulled back, you almost couldnât meet her eyes. âIâm sorry,â you rasped, looking down.
âYou have nothing to apologize for.â The kindness in her tone almost sent you into another fit.
âBut I do.â You bit your bottom lip. âI transferred to USC without telling any of you guys. And when I left, I didnât even bother to say goodbye. All I did was send a stupid text.â You kicked the ground, chastising yourself for how youâd treated your closest friends.
âYou were hurting.â Caroline squeezed your arms. âWe all understand. None of us are mad, alright? We all just miss you.â When you didnât say anything, too overwhelmed with guilt, she nudged you. âYou wanna make it up to us?â
You nodded quickly. Anything.
âCome hang with us after. At my place. No bar, nothing public. Just you and us. We can catch up, you can tell us all about USC and weâll give you all the latest drama here.â
Thoughts of Pauge flashed through your mind before you shut it down. It was time to stop putting your feelings over Paige before your friends. You had to rebuild the gap, for the sake of the girls that you loved. âIâll be there,â you responded, and Carolineâs eyes lit up with a grin.
âGreat,â she beamed. âAnd about your grandma. Iâm so sorry, babe. She was a really good person.â
You nodded. âThank you. She really was.â Caroline gave you one last hug before you both parted ways to finish warming up before the game.
âââââââââââ-
Sweat dripped off your temples. You blinked roughly, trying to stave off the fogginess creeping in at the edge of your vision. Your muscles ached, screaming for oxygen and a break from the constant back-and-forth of the game. Whenever you opened your mouth, your throat burned from all the screaming youâd done over the past hour to attempt to communicate as well as UConn was doing.
It was no use. Youâd been part of the UConn system before, and the drills that Geno had spent hours on, making sure you guys talked through every play, calling out unders or overs on screens, back door cuts, and picks, made the defensive coordination of UConn the best in the nation. Your team was starting to loosen at the seams and fall behind, and you could sense it.
The entire game had been intense, a battle of aggression between the two teams seemingly fueled by the personal vendettas between you and Paige, each captains of your respective teams. She was relentless, having scored 30 points with 2 minutes left in the last quarter. Youâd yet to defend her, which was a relief. You didnât know if you could bear all the aggressive contact, the tensions, the overflow of emotions that would occur once you started to guard her.
After Aaliyah posted up to score another latup, Gottlieb signaled for a time out. âAlright,â she declared, focusing her eyes on you. âYouâre taking Paige. I want you to press her hard. Keep your weight off your heels and donât cross your feet.â
You squirted water into your mouth, nodding. You guys were down by 5 points, and shutting down Paige was the main priority right now. USC broke, but Juju grabbed your arm. âHey,â she said lowly. âKeep your emotions out of this, alright? Focus on the game.â
You clenched your jaw, avoiding eye contact with your best friend. âI got it. I want to win just as much as you do.â
âOkay.â Juju clearly didnât believe you, but she released your arm and jogged back to her spot. You rolled back your shoulders. Right now was not the time to think about how Paige was looking at you, or how her girlfriend was sitting court-side, just a few feet from your assigned spot. You wiped the bottom of your shoes, trying to get rid of the sweat in your palms and add some traction to your feet. Leslie eyed you the entire time, smacking her gum loudly. âCome on, Paige!â she cheered with an obnoxious grin as soon as she made eye contact with you. You clenched your jaw, feeling Juju give you a warning look from across the court.
One of your teammates unbounded the ball, and you took off across the court. Rayah stepped out to set a screen, but you drove baseline away from it. You received the ball as you reached the post, and you passed it to Juju, who was waiting at the 3. The play ran beautifully, but as the ball arched towards Juju, a hand reached up and knocked it down.
Paige grabbed the ball and passed it down the court to Nika. You sprinted to defense, heart pumping, fueled by the humiliation of getting a pass intercepted, and by Paige of all people. You reached Nika, lunging for the ball in a desperate last second attempt, but she side stepped you for the layup, sending you flying across the floor.
You heard the oohs of the crowds as you landed hard on your butt, your ankle twisted underneath you. Biting your lip to muffle your shout of pain, you clenched your jersey to try and assuage the throbbing in your tailbone and leg.
You heard a commotion around you, and suddenly there was Paige, standing above you, concern etched into her eyebrow. She held out a hand, but Juju quickly appeared, bending down to touch your elbow and offering her own hand. Ignoring Paige, you wrapped both of your hands around Jujuâs as she heaved you up.
Paige stepped back, her mouth in an unforgiving line. âYou okay?â she asked, tone haughty and neutral.
âSheâs fine,â Juju snapped, stepping protectively between the two of you. âGive her some space, will you?â
Paige held her hands up in surrender and took a couple steps back. Her gaze on you stayed with unwavering intensity, though. But you avoided it, like youâd done the entire game, and let the trainer examine you.
âYou good?â Nika ran up to you, chest heaving. âI didnât see you there.â
âYeah.â You smiled in reassurance at her. âNot your fault. Donât worry about it.â
Nika nodded as the trainer helped you up and led you off the court. Paigeâs gaze burned into your back, but when you turned around, she quickly averted her eyes.
You hadnât injured yourself, only taken a rough fall, but you still sat on the bench for the remaining minute of the game. Unfortunately, with your dominating presence out, USC couldnât catch up, and your team lost by a single heartbreaking point.
You walked slowly as USC and UConn formed lines to wish each other a good game. Youâd been nervous beforehand, thinking about what to say to the girls, but Caroline had told the truth. None of them seemed to have anything against you, all pulling you in for a tight hug and telling you how good you played and how much they missed you. So although you were exhausted and your ankle was starting to throb again, you knew that you had to go to Carolineâs hangout.
âââââââââ-
âOh my god, come in!â You chuckled as Azzi opened the door and practically started jumping on her heels from excitement. You grabbed Jujuâs hand and led her in from behind you. She was there for backup, a familiar face in a sea of once familiar faces. When youâd asked the Uconn girls if she could come, theyâd all happily agreed, saying that theyâd been wanting to meet the freshman phenom that had taken the basketball world by storm.
The girls were scattered around Carolineâs apartment. Some of them were sprawled on the couch, watching an NBA game as if they hadnât had enough basketball for the night. Others were drinking wine in the kitchen and picking at a charcuterie board. Thankfully, you didnât see any sign of a blonde when you scanned the room, and let out a breath you didnât know youâd been holding.
âHey guys, this is Juju.â Juju waved her hand shyly, and everyone clambered up to meet her. You smiled at the scene. Despite rivalries on the court and the vigor that UConn played with, you knew they left behind all of that once the shot clock buzzed for the final time. These girls were the nicest youâd ever met, welcoming everyone as their own.
You and Juju found a spot on the couch. You were almost getting comfortable before the door swung open and a familiar laugh filled the room. You didnât bother to look up, trying to play it cool, but when Juju laid a hand on your arm in warning the same time an unfamiliar voice resonated, you realized that a certain brunette had came too.
Masking your face with indifference, you congratulated yourself for having the power to control your facial expression once Paige and Leslie tumbled into the family room, Leslieâs hands attached to Paigeâs waist as they both laughed, obviously already having put some drinks into their system before coming here. You ignored the silence that had fallen over the rest of the team as they realized the awkwardness of the situation.
âIâm so sorry,â Caroline mouthed from her spot on the armchair. âI didnât know she was gonna be here.â
You only shrugged, your eyes focused on your lap as you tried to maintain your facade of apathy. Juju shifted closer to you in support, and youâd never loved her more.
âOkay!â Caroline said brightly, cutting through the heavy tension in the room. âWho wants a margarita?â All the girls cheered, and the ambience in the apartment returned as conversations resumed.
This is only awkward if you let it be awkward, you thought. You and Paige had broken up over a year ago. You could be civil. You were so over her. But you knew you were lying from the way your insides jolted when Leslie leaned in to press a loud kiss on Paigeâs cheek.
Soon, some of the girls started recording Tiktoks and doing silly dances. You turned down their offers to make a cameo in their videos, content with just watching. As you observed rhem, it dawned on you how much youâd missed them. Their silliness made you laugh in a way you hadnât laughed at in a long time. Throughout the entire night, you tried to pretend as if Paige and Leslie didnât exist, although it was hard with the exuberant amount of PDA they were showing. They were sitting on each otherâs laps, their hands wandering, and they werenât making out but you almost wish they were so that you wouldnât have to see either of their faces.
âPaige! Did you come here to celebrate or eye fuck your girlfriend the entire time?â KK yelled, waving a Nintendo controller. âCome play Smash Bros.â
Paige rolled her eyes, but she caught the controller that KK threw at her. She wrapped around Leslie, who was still on top her lap, and started to press buttons on the controller as she chose her chatacter. You stiffened at the memory of Paige doing the exact same thing with you, all those late nights sheâd played Fortnite with the team, you falling asleep with your head in the crook of her neck as she gamed. Itâd always ended with her carrying you to bed, tucking you in and wrapping her arms around yours.
âWatch out KK,â Leslie joked. âP is a beast at Smash Bros.â
âYeah, Iâm pretty good at smashing,â Paige teased, her words dripping with sexual undertones. Everyone groaned, and Leslie giggled, a high pitched and screeching noise that you thought could be used as torture for prisoners if put on replay.
Leslie reached for her margarita, but her movements were sluggish from her tipsy state, causing the alcohol to slosh over the side of the cocktail glass. Immediately, Paige jumped up, hurriedly removing Leslie from her lap as she examined herself. It was only then that you realized that Paige had taken off the sweater sheâd arrived with and was now in your grandmaâs jersey, a jersey that now sported a large wet stain.
âLeslie, oh my god.â She yelled, her voice panicked. âI told you to be careful.â
âOh shit, my bad.â Leslie set down her drink and reached for Paige, who stepped backwards and away from her touch.
âYou fucker.â The words were out of your mouth before you knew it, and all eyes in the room turned to you. Juju kicked you nervously, but you ignored her. âHow could you?â You rushed over to Paige, looking closely at the jersey now reeking with alcohol. You held back tears as you saw the print already starting to fade. The jersey was 60 years old, already fragile and old, and you knew that it was now as good as ruined.
Paige turned to Leslie. âI thought I told you not to fucking drink while you were around me. You know how important this jersey is to me.â
Leslie stood rigid, her expression now calculated. âYou guys are being so dramatic. Let me have the jersey. Iâll go wash it and bring it back good as new.â
âDonât you dare fucking touch it.â You turned from Leslie, gently touching the frayed ends with shaky fingers. âYou canât just wash it. Itâll fall apart. Oh my god, you just ruined one of the only things my grandma left us.â Your voice was choked now, tears forming at your eyes. âShit!â You slammed your first into the ground in anger.
The team exchanged hesitant looks, worry clear in their eyes. Juju came up from behind you. âCome on, babe,â she whispered. âIâm sure we can do something about it. Let me take a look, hmm?â
You moved aside, but from the look on Jujuâs face as the faded patches and stressed seams became visible as she studied it, you knew there was no use. The tears started falling then, an uncontrollable stream that left you feeling broken. âExcuse me,â you whimpered, and you ran into the bathroom, locking yourself inside.
You heard murmurs of the team outside. You heard the front door slam. Soon, someone knocked softly on the door. âItâs Juju,â your friend called, and you resignedly unlocked the door and let her inside before shutting it again.
You slumped down on the ground, you face in your hands. âOh,â Juju whispered, and she knelt down next to you as you started to sob.
Another knock came in, followed by a tentative voice calling your name. You exchanged looks with Juju, who got up and slipped outside.
âAre you serious right now?â Jujuâs voice was muffled, but you could still hear the fury radiating from her words. âYou know youâre the reason sheâs crying right now?â
âI know.â A pause. âI need to apologize.â
âShe doesnât wanna see you right now.â
You heard Paigeâs sharp intake of breath. âJuju, please.â
You could practically feel Jujuâs hesitance, but she mustâve relented, because when the door opened, it was Paige who stepped in.

SunBurst duo headcannons that I have but can't explain why I have them but it's special to me.
(Look at them yall <3<3<3)
Before Wukong got comfortable with Pigsy, he was really shy about asking Pigsy to keep his food cool because he can't eat hot food. Mk started to ask for cooler noodles for Wukong.
They switched hair colors once. Wukong had dark brown hair and Mk was ginger. Wukong didn't like it but Mk really liked his. Pigsy made him dye it back because no one got used to ginger Mk.
Mk doesn't like peaches. At all. Wukong tells him it's alright and that he doesn't have to eat them but Mk forces himself to out of respect.
Mk has seen half of Wukong's glamors off. Wukong is still too afraid to let them all drop.
Mk has absolutely dressed up as Wukong for Halloween.
Mk didn't know what grooming was so when Wukong kept trying to mess with his hair, he kept swatting him off. Wukong eventually stopped and didn't attempt again. Mk then later found out monkies groom to show love and he cried. (This actually happened to me! My cousin has a capuchin monkey named Debbie and she did this to me when I was like 8. I didn't get what she was doing so I kept swatting her off. I got SO upset when I found out what she was going.)
Mk is Wukongs emergency contact number in his phone.
Mk knows some of the baby monkies by name. He even got to name a newborn.
Mk and Wukong like to color together. They even made a coloring book together!
Wukong sometimes turns into a small bird or cat and hides in Mks gold cart so he can go on Mk's noodle runs.
Mk just hops on Wukong when he wants a piggy back ride. Wukong started doing I too so now they just piggy back ride on each other.
Mk sometimes has nightmares about Wukong getting possesed or Wukong being trapped in the scrolls. Wukong usually has to comfort him.
Mk gave Wukong his own headband. Wukong uses it as a ponytail holder when his hair gets to long.
Wukong bites everyone as a love language. Not hard, just a little nibble. He first did this to Mk during midway through season 2 and season 3. Mk was confused but kinda rolled with it.
Wukong wakes up and attempts to take care of himself. Brushing his hair, teeth, and getting his clothes. Mk wakes up, puts his headband on and just goes. No thoughts.
Those two watch cartoons for HOURS on end. They have little movie nights :)
Mk was caught so off guard when he found out Redson was Wukong's nephew.
Mk before he knew about glamors, wondered why Wukong didn't look like how he was described (4 foot, red eyes.) but he was to scared to ask.
Mk stills feel bad that he didn't have faith in Wukong when he met Macaque. Wukong doenst hold it against him, he gets it.
Mk sometimes wears gold eyeshadow to match Wukong's blue eyeshadow. Sometimes they switch it up and change colors. (Bai He, Mei, and Redson sometimes join.)
I found this in my drafts and wanted to post it. Live laugh love SunBurst Duo.

As winter's chill wraps itself around the city, you find yourself once again nestled indoors, wrapped in the warm, soft embrace of blankets and layers. The frosty air outside and the biting winds are not your friendsâwinter may have birthed you, but it certainly hasnât won your favor. Fortunately, a certain blond gambler with vibrant eyes understands this about you perfectly. And, as always, Aventurine finds a way to make even your self-imposed winter sanctuary a place of light and laughter.
Youâre sitting by the window, a cup of tea warming your hands, when you feel the sofa dip beside you. Aventurine slides in, his arms draped casually over the back, wearing that playful smirk that always gives him away.
âI see my favorite winter hibernator is hard at work,â he teases, eyes glinting with mischief as he wraps his arm around you, gently pulling you closer. âTell me, loveâif you despise the cold so much, why insist on being born in winter?â
âIt wasnât exactly my choice,â you reply, rolling your eyes. âBelieve me, if I had a say, I wouldâve picked a sunnier season.â
He chuckles, his voice rich with amusement. âConsider it fate, then. The chill just had to bring something warm to this world.â
You blush slightly at the compliment, nestling further into his side, the warmth of his presence seeping through the layers of blankets. Aventurine tilts his head back thoughtfully, as if considering some new scheme. With him, everything is a game, even these cozy moments, where he skillfully makes you forget the dreariness of the season.
âSince you refuse to step out,â he continues with a dramatic sigh, âit looks like Iâll have to bring the entertainment to you. How does a little winter wager sound?â
âA wager?â You raise an eyebrow. âWhat are we betting on this time?â
He pulls a deck of cards from his pocket, shuffling it with practiced grace. âA simple game of chance. If you win, Iâll stay in and play the dutiful winter companion. If I win, youâll have to endure a brief winter stroll with meânothing too far, just enough to get a bit of rosy color in those cheeks.â
You laugh, knowing full well heâll somehow manage to twist the game in his favor. Still, you agree, because with Aventurine, even a losing hand feels like a victory.
In the end, after a series of close calls and playful accusations of cheating, you âlose,â as expected. But as you bundle up reluctantly, Aventurine takes your hand and leads you to the balcony instead of out into the cold streets. You pause, looking up at him, confusion etched on your face.
âI thought youâd try to drag me outside.â you say, shivering slightly as a gust of cold air swirls around you.
âTrue,â he replies, slipping an arm around you to pull you closer. âBut I couldnât make you too uncomfortable, could I? Besides, this way, you get your fresh air, and I get to keep you right where I like youânext to me, warm and cozy.â
Aventurineâs warmth, combined with the gentle embrace, makes the winter seem almost bearable. His presence is all you need, a reminder that even the coldest days can be filled with warmth as long as heâs by your side.

series masterlist. main masterlist.
To you, there was nothing more magical than the fall in Boston.
Everywhere you go, the streets are painted with vibrant colors and rich textures. Itâs warm, inviting, and the most magical time of the year. Winter was a very close second, but nothing beat autumn. The Tudor-style homes on your street looked straight out of a fairytale, and the yards were covered in beautiful shades of orange, red, and yellow. The air was crisp, and there was always a faint smell of burning leaves from somewhere. It always stayed under 65 degrees but never dropped below 46. It was perfect.
As you grew up, you had always taken the same path to the diner, watching Tuesday night come every single week as the seasons and the neighborhood changed. There was a building on the corner of Maple and Main that never stayed occupied, and you could always count on Francis walking her poodle around the same time. Whether or not you liked it, Boston would change, with or without you.
In Hampton, you hated watching the seasons pass by, especially in autumn. It made you long for those wintry days in Brookline, listening to the boys cheer on the patriots while your mother and Shmi prepared dinner over some wine. You and Ahsoka always did âhomework,â watching the game from a distance and mostly gossiping. Youâd attempt to watch the game from a distance in Hampton, craving that little piece of home you missed the most. Still, it was always shut down by some âextremely important soccer gameâ Nick just had to watch. But you knew he hated you for longing for something other than him- what was he made for then?
But as the weeks went by, you really began to notice just how much you missed. You joined Ahsoka and Padme in the library most days, cramming as much information as possible- wanting, well, desperately needing an A. Yes, an A was good, but it was more to make you feel in control of your life once again. You needed the satisfaction- and the distraction.
It would be hard to say you didnât notice the way Padme and Ahsoka would look at you when they thought you didnât notice. So much pity. You hated it. Theyâd have these âknowing glancesâ with each other and you felt that they were always talking about you the second you walked away. That part of high school you did not miss- but these were your friends, your best friends, and they shouldnât be treating you like this- making you feel like this. When you asked them, they swore up and down it was nothing, they werenât keeping secrets, and everything was okay. But the second you looked away- there was that knowing look between them. And it was driving you crazy.
And then there was Ben too, he was just so- not himself. Sure, Ben was always a nice guy, and he was a great person- but he was your older brother. And he always gave you a hard time, just for shitâs and giggles, and of course you always gave it right back. Thatâs what siblings are for. But after that first night back, things were so different. He was so soft towards you, so kind. He kept checking up on you, asking if you needed help with school, insisting on doing everything for you. It was nice- but it wasnât him. And it just made you hurt more. All you wanted was for things to be normal.
Despite everyone being different- you had only hoped Anakin was the same. And not to your surprise, he wasnât. In fact, Anakin was worse than everyone else. But he carried a certain burden with him- almost, guilt? It didnât make sense to you- none of it did. And you tried so, so hard not to let it bother you, but it seemed impossible. So, maybe pushing them away was the best option. You hated the way everyone was making you feel- including yourself- but only you had control of yourself, so maybe that was your best option.
And so the study dates became solo dates, the family dinners were eaten in your room, and your weekly diner travels were now just a tradition that only you seemed to care about keeping up with. It was fine- you were fine. You didnât want to admit that you were lonely- but you were, and you definitely felt it.
You pushed open the door to the diner. The sweet smell of apple pie filled your senses and calmed you simultaneously. The same regulars were lined up at the bar, playing darts and betting on football games. At least if Boston and your friends were always changing, Dexâs would stay the same.
âWhatâll you have sweetheart, long time no see?â Dex winked at you while cleaning a glass before sliding some napkins and silverware your way.
âJust a diet coke, maybe a slice of pie.â You mumbled out, tracing out the details of the countertop with a cocktail straw. Time had just flown by, and youâd give anything to be in high school at Dexâs after Anakin and Benâs football games. They swore for the longest time theyâd go pro- I suppose engineering is better. Less painful.
âWhatâs got you so down, kid?â Dex leaned against the counter, grabbing the cocktail straw and throwing it at you to get your attention. You stifled a chuckle.
âI donât know, Dex.â You sigh, mashing your fork against the pie he gave you âon the house,â âThings have just been so weird since I got back. Not sure what went wrong.â
âItâs a mess up there, huh?â He smiles, and you quirk a brow.
âUp where?â
âUp in that brain of yours.â You scoff.
âGee, thanks.â You roll your eyes, setting your head down on the bar and huffing.
âOkay, but in all seriousness, have you talked to anyone about this? Youâre not yourself, kid. Maybe Anakin could help?â He raises his brows playfully, and you roll your eyes.
âHeh. Yeah, right. Anakinâs been praying on my downfall for years. Well, maybe not. Weâll see.â You shoot a wink at Dex, and he smiles, hitting his hand on the counter.
âYou know Iâve always been rooting for the two of you; Iâm sure whatever is going on will work itself out.â
Dex had known all of you since you were children, which made going to his diner a familiar, comforting routine. It stopped when you left. Yet, when you came back, it only strengthened the urge to revisit. He had offered a job again, but you declined. When you worked for him before, you occasionally found that money mysteriously didn't make its way to you. He was sweet and kind and had brilliant advice, but reliability wasnât exactly his nature.
Regardless, you got a job at a local bar in downtown Boston. Anakin and Ben were not enthusiastic about the idea. But the staff was kind, the uniforms were a bit skimpy, and you had gotten to know some regulars. On your first night, you made $400. You didnât plan on leaving it anytime soon. MIT wasnât exactly cheap, and neither was Boston.
A mere 10-minute drive from the house, Mazzy's stood out as the most disreputable dive bar in the vicinity. You had done a lot of your underage drinking there, pretending to enjoy the various sports as you drank $3 Bud Light and played beer pong. They had a different drink special every day of the week - $5 margaritas on Mondays, tequila shots on Tuesdays, wine on Wednesdays, and karaoke + Vegas bombs on throwback Thursdays (which was always your favorite). So, it was fitting for you to work there; the manager knew you since you were a kid with a fake ID. He wasnât exactly fond of the idea that he served you underage- but you had open availability, and they were desperate.
And you were a hard worker, staying late most nights and offering to cover shifts when you could. College was hard, and you didnât necessarily need to work as much as you did, but the distraction helped, and the money was a nice bonus, too. Plus, there had to be something fun in it for you, tooâŚ
Thatâs how you ended up a champion at pool, beating all the regulars and making more money off your bets than you did tips.
Anakin heard about your little side hustle from one of his coworkers at the shop, talking about the âKenobi girl whoâs undefeated.â He felt the wrench falter in his grip and wiped the excess oil off his stained jeans as the smile spread on his face. Kenobi girl has a side deal? Oh, heâd never get over this. How the mighty have fallen.
On that note, Anakin immediately decided to pay you a visit later that night, not being able to resist the idea of breaking your winning streak. After all, who do you think taught you to play?
Upon entering the door, the loud music and dim lights assaulted his senses, and the pungent smell of smoke and rowdy laughter almost overwhelmed him. This was where you worked? What a dump. Scanning the dance floor, his eyes moved swiftly from one dancing body to another, hoping to catch a glimpse of you. The walls were adorned with pictures and writing, the chairs and tables were in disarray, and the bar was surrounded by numerous cups and beer bottles that caught his attention.
It didn't take him much time to track you down, guided by the sound of your laughter resonating in the crowded space as you approached a lively bunch of guys playing pool, holding a tray brimming with shots. Awesome. Now he was going to have to kick your ass at pool, as well as kick some asshole's ass, and then kick your ass again for entertaining it. Cool. Cool, Cool. He could do that. Yeah, he was cool.
âYou cool man? Looking for the bar?â Anakin quickly broke out of his trance, looking at the older, distressed man before himâdefinitely the manager.
âYeah, sorry. Iâm good. Just taking it all in-â
âCool, bars over there, man.â The older man pats his back, sending him towards the bar. Anakin shakes his head, furrowing his brows at the interaction. The fuck?
As he approached the bar, his eyes scanned the stools and calculated where heâd get the best view of you while remaining out of sight. He was still a little annoyed and didnât want to make a scene so quickly, you know? Plus, he needed to study your strategies. How did the little one get so good at pool that sheâs running a ring? Interesting.
âWhatâll you have, hun?â The older redhead leans across the bar, wiping down the icy surface with a bar rag as Anakin settles into his seat.
âUh, just a Modelo for now.â He quickly pulls out his wallet and flashes his ID, his eyes barely leaving your figure.
âUh huh,â Her eyes flicker at Anakin, trailing them towards you as her lips upturned in a smile, âIâll be right back with that.â
Anakin slides onto the stool, quickly propping his head on his hand as he keeps his gaze locked on you, while also trying to look as un-creepy as possible (itâs not working). He observes you giggling at one of the guys, playfully aiming your pool stick at his chest like a gun, threatening to shoot. The men all completely feed into it. You little slut. Next thing he knows, youâre leaning down to make a shot, your innocence showing as you stick your ass in the faces of 4 frat guys as they whisper. Your pigtails bounced onto the table as you focused on your shot, one eye closed and your tongue sticking out in concentration. His pants were suddenly so tight. What the fuck do you think youâre doing? What could have-
âYou know, Iâm pretty sure sheâs taken.â The redhead pushes the beer towards him, âOtherwise, with the way youâre looking at her, Iâd tell you to ask her for her number. Keep it open or close it?â Anakinâs eyes widened.
âTaken?â He stutters out, his mouth hanging open.
âNo, your tab, dumbass.â She laughs, picking up a bottle out of the well and cleaning it. âYou look like you need to keep it open. And yeah, sheâs taken. She talks about him all the time, actually. Heâs a family friend- they grew up together. Think his name is Andrew or something.â
âAndrew, huh? Interesting.â Anakinâs smile widens, taking a swig of his beer. You were talking about him. And everyone thought you were his? He might have to play along.
When he looked back at the table, you had disappeared. Anakin tilted his head in confusion, his gaze sweeping the room until it landed on you at the opposite end of the bar, where his eyes locked onto yours as the redhead tried to talk to you.
âAnakin?â You laughed, not noticing redheadâs brow raise and sudden attention towards the two of you, âWhat are you doing here? I-â You cocked your head in confusion. Something about Anakinâs unwavering smile was so unreadable.
âHeard about a certain Kenobi girlâs pool bets from the guys. Had to see it for myself.â He turned towards you, subconsciously spreading his legs as his finger traced the rim of his beer glass. His pride grew as the redness spread on your face.
âDidnât- Uh- Didnât think word was getting around that fast. Fuck.â
âYeah, fuck is right.â Anakin starts, and redhead approaches, pretending to clean bar glasses as she eyeballs the interaction in front of her. âNo wonder youâre making so much money. Afraid Iâm gonna have to end this streak of yours, though.â
You scoff, crossing your arms and rolling your eyes, shaking your head at the audacity of the man before you. One beer, and he felt like he was God? He desperately needed to be humbled.
âSo thatâs what this is about? You just hate to see me beating you at something? Didnât think after all these years you were still so desperate, Anakin. I- fine, but whatâs in it for me?â You hop up on the stool next to him, narrowing your eyes as your gaze runs over his lips, the honey of his laughter sweet in your ears.
âWhat do you want, sweetheart?â He smiles, moving closer to you as his eyes trace your lips back, the grin growing on his face.
âDonât look at me like that.â You swallow, sitting up straighter and pulling away from him.
âLike what, Y/N?â He grins, mimicking your actions as he leans back and takes another drink of his beer.
âAnakin-â
âHow about, if you win, Iâll be your DD for a month- AND- and- Iâll finally join you for karaoke. And if I win, well, I know I never want to see that outfit in public again, I want you to stop entertaining every guy you serve.â You roll your eyes at his protectiveness, sighing at his request.
âFine, but only because what I get out of this deal is so much better than what you might get. Now come on.â You stand up, offering your hand to him as you pull him off the bar stool, âAmy, would you be a doll and keep an eye on my section?â Ah, so Redhead does have a name.
As you led him to a table in a dark corner away from everyone, he shot the other men a smile. A boastful smile. He may not have known that he wanted you just yet, but he knew he didnât want others to have you. It was just him being protective, right? Besides, whatâs really the difference between those two thingsâŚ
âAfter you, sir.â You lined up the colorful, numbered balls and invited him for 8 ball, handing him a stick to make the first move.
âAre you sure, madam? Ladies first, you know. Chivalry isnât dead.â He shot you a wink, tossing you the pool cue as you rolled his eyes. He was definitely tipsy. And you were definitely taking him home tonight. Not like that.
You started the game off strongly, hitting two solid shots right into the pocket, the satisfying *clink* echoing between the tension. You grinned. And shockingly enough, so did Anakin. His eyes cold and calculating, he struck the cue ball, the sharp *thwack* followed by the soft, almost silent roll of the red-striped ball across the green felt until it finally sank into the hole. If there was one thing your families took seriously- it was a bet.
You kept the game going, sharing plenty of shit-talking and shots, making sure to feed him a few more (which, in hindsight, was probably a mistake). You hit in your 3rd and 4th balls, your eyes catching the men at the other table. But, as always, your eyes immediately went back to Anakin. You flashed him an innocent smile, not feeding into his small touches that made you dizzy and the way his eyes flicked down to your lips. Itâs okay. He was only drunk- and that couldnât happen again.
Eventually, you beat him. While completely intoxicated, Anakin stumbled, his hand a blur as he somehow knocked the 8-ball in on his third try; the cue ball spun wildly, a final, chaotic movement before settling. You gave him a pass, a condescending smile playing on your lips as you told him you'd happily give him a rematch, though the outcome wouldn't change. Unfazed by your comment, he simply stared, his blown pupils swimming with an unsettling, well-known emotion. A palpable tension hung in the air, heavy with more unspoken words. A sudden chill raised the hairs on your arms, your breath catching in your throat as an unnatural silence filled the air between you. You cleared your throat and smiled, shaking the thought out of your head.
âCâmon drunkie- letâs get you up here.â You held your arm under his shoulder, guiding him back to the bar through the dwindling customers. He wasn't exactly being easy, his laughter echoing in the air as he teased you relentlessly, his hand dropping lower and lower on your waist with each step. You tried not to pay attention to the strange way it made your heart pound in your chest. But you could divert your focus to work- finally.
It was now 2:30. And you needed to get out of there. You carefully propped him up against the sticky, mahogany bar, your finger stabbing emphatically at his chest as you barked, "Don't move!" before turning to whatever remaining side work you had been neglecting. With a shake of your head, you freed your hair from the uncomfortable low pigtails, the strands falling around your shoulders. Okay, you had silverware, trash, bathrooms, sweeping, and-
âY/N? Can you come here?â You heard Amy call from the bar as you swept, and you turned around, only to see Anakin passed out on the bar. His head lolled against his crossed arms, a soft rhythmic snoring emanating from his relaxed body.
âFuck,â You mumbled, setting down the broom and running over to the bar, shaking the sleepy man awake. His eyes fluttered open, a soft smile playing on his lips as you rolled your eyes, a sigh escaping your lips.
âHey, beautiful- you gonna take me home?â A raspy mumble escaped his lips as his fingers, warm and slightly damp, caressed your cheek, lingering just a moment too long. Attempting to ignore his continuing advances, your eyes are drawn to Amy; a subtle arch of her eyebrow and a slight nod toward the door provide your much-needed escape.
âCâmon, sleepy- letâs get you home.â You helped him up again, mouthing a quick thank you to Amy before taking him to the back door.
âI just- I- I canât believe youâre so good at pool! I mean, Iâm soooooo proud, yknow? I taught you so well. The guys were talking about it at work, and I just had to come see it for myself. So adorable.â He mumbles through the parking lot, laughing at his own jokes, and itâs clear he knows heâs not making much sense.
If this was anyone else- youâd be a little pissed off. But there was always a certain tenderness in your heart reserved for Anakin, a weakness you couldn't deny. Taking care of him when you knew you could just, well, made things better. He usually never let you get the chance, but right now, it felt like you were getting your old life back.
With a grunt, you pushed him into the passenger seat of his car; the smell of stale coffee and old leather filled the air, and you figured heâd take you to get your car the next dayâpayback, of course. You plug your phone in and turn the volume up for Mazzy Star, letting the softness of her voice fill the emptiness of the car. Anakin's head rests on your shoulder, his soft snores a gentle rhythm against your neck as you drive down the familiar streets, the houses blurring into a comforting stream of colors.
You pull into his driveway, the harsh cold biting your face as you open the door. Anakin slumped down further, his head resting on the center console. You bit your lip, the metallic tang of blood filling your mouth, as you weighed your options, watching his body move slowly as he inhaled and slowly exhaled, his brows furrowing in his sleep. What could he be dreaming about that was getting him so worked up? You didnât have time for this- it was cold, he was asleep, and you needed to make a decision.
You couldnât just tell him to get out of his car and go to bed- he didnât deserve that, even if he did get wasted at your job. Well, you kinda got him wasted. And if you did take him inside, there was a chance youâd run into Shmi or Ahsoka, and that wasnât really a conversation you wanted to have, especially considering how this looked. And if you took him inside, got away with not running into anyone, thereâs the chance that once he gets in bed, heâd ask you to stay. That would be awkward. And even if you did stay, thereâs only a 50% chance youâd have sex again and make it all weird. The question is- were you willing to risk it?
âFuck,â You watched him sleep, knowing what you had to do. You got back into the car, shutting the door behind you and turning it on. The heat kicked up again, the sound of âblue lightâ filling your ears as you watched him next to you. You didnât have to wake him up just yet. Sure, it was nearing 3:30 in the morning, but you knew he was tired and probably not feeling well.
You let out a soft sigh, sinking into your seat, and slowly reach your hand to cup Anakinâs face, gently stroking his cheek as you felt the warmth of his skin. You didn't notice the subtle, almost imperceptible twitch of his lips under your touch, a drunken smile masked by his feigned sleep.
âYouâre frustrating, you know that?â You mumble to him, knowing he wonât respond. âBut I still love you. Itâs okay. I just know I wonât hear the end of this tomorrow. Which- you owe me. I need my car at some point. But- fuck- I know Iâm gonna have to get you up in a second, and I really donât want to. Iâm so tired. Fuck.â
You glance over at him, noticing the grin on his face, and your heart drops slightly. âFuck off- are you pretending?â
He opens one eye slightly and bursts into laughter, his head hitting the back of the seat while he practically slaps his knee.
âI-Iâm so sorry-â He manages to breathe out, his face hot and red, âI actually was sleeping, but you started talkin,g and I just- I got invested.â
âUh-huh. Well, parties over. Time for bed.â
âNo-â
âZip it.â You grin, your finger against his lips to shut him up. His eyes glance down to your finger, a mischievous glint forming in his pupils as he presses a soft kiss to your finger.
âAnakin, come on. We gotta go. Itâs so late.â You grab his face to get his attention, your stare firm and unwavering against his giggles.
âOkay, okay. Weâll go. Basementâs unlocked.â He kisses the top of your hand, turning towards his car door and attempting to open it.
âWait- Anakin- I got it.â You turned the car out, rushing around to his side and opening the door for him.
âHere, hold my hand.â You hold your hand out for him, and he smirks, quickly taking it in his hand.
âGotta buy me dinner first, sweetheart.â
âAnakin, weâre way past dinner. Now come on.â You pull him alongside you, draping your purse on his shoulder as you walk around the side of the house to the basement door.
âGod, itâs fucking cold.â He mumbles, his hand slipping from yours and meeting your waist again, âMight need you to warm me up.â You scoff.
âNo, Anakin- just need to get you to bed.â Mumbling, you avoid his eye contact and open the door, practically pushing him into it.
âAlright, alright, Iâm going Y/N/N. Jesus.â He stumbles through the mudroom, kicking off his shoes and attempting to shimmy off his jacket.
Behind him, you sigh and mutter your help, your fingers slow and deliberate as you peel away the brown leather, noticing its softness and the faint, earthy smell. You hold the jacket under your arm, leaning into his back and resting your head on his shoulder. Anakin leans his own head back, his fingers dancing around to meet yours again as a smile spreads across his lips.
âI missed you.â He mumbles, his voice smooth and raspy. You subconsciously squeeze your legs together a little tighter. âJust hasnât been the same. Just need to make sure youâre okay. And safe. God, I needed you to be safe.â
Your body shakes from behind him as your breath suddenly hitches in your throat. Afraid heâll see your wet eyes again, you squeeze his hand a little tighter, feeling the rough texture of his skin against yours. But you know he can feel your tears through his thin shirt. And you hope he chooses not to comment on it. He doesnât. Anakin's sudden turn sent a jolt through you as his arms pinned yours, his brow a deep furrow, pupils dilated with alarm.
âStay with me tonight. Please.â He begs softly.
âAnakin-â
âPlease. Just tonight. I donât want to be alone.â You sigh.
âIâll stay until you fall asleep, okay?â You tear your eyes away from his, leaning closer to his chest as he wraps his arms around you. âI canât stay, Anakin. Iâm sorry.â You mumble against him, but he doesnât respond; he just rubs your back and drops his head to your shoulder.
âLetâs go to bed.â You break the hug, tearing away from him as you lead him to his room.
Stepping into the familiar space, the soft glow of the lamps and the comfortable quiet bring a smile to your faceâit never changes. The posters on his wall, the messy drawings near his desk, the random clothes on his floor.
âM sorry itâs messy.â He mumbles as he walks behind you, kicking random things out of the way as he stumbles to the bathroom. âMake yourself comfortable.â The door clicks behind him, and you fall back onto his bed and close your eyes.
How the fuck did you end up here? You squeeze your eyes, attempting to navigate the night somehow. Nothing ever made sense with Anakin- but it always, always made sense. You let your purse drop to the floor as you kick off your sneakers.
âBenâs gonna kill me.â You groan as you rub your eyes, not caring about the makeup under your fingers
âNo, heâs not.â Anakinâs bathroom door practically slams open as he stumbles out of it with nothing but some low-hanging sweats. You shouldnât look- but you do. And, of course, he smirks.
âLike what you see?â He asks before jumping on the bed next to you and practically putting you into a headlock. You scream in response, giggling at his childish antics. It was well past 4am at this point. Anakin had to be at work at 9.
âLet me go!â You squeal in protest, the feeling of his arms around you a mixture of panic and exhilaration as he holds you tighter, his laughter echoing. He pulls you up, his strong hands gripping your arms, then throws you gently to the other side of the bed next to him.
âGod, Iâm tired.â He yawns and rolls over to face you, his fingers moving toward your chin while he stares at your lips. âNeed some rest.â
âYeah.â You hiccup.
He leans in, the warmth of his breath a whisper against your skin, his eyes glued to your lips. At this point, mere inches separated you, your heart pounding a frantic rhythm against your ribs as butterflies did somersaults in your stomach. And just as his thumb meets your chin, you break into a coughing fit. You roll over and grab his pillow, coughing aggressively into it. Was it on purpose? Maybe.
His hand meets your back, rubbing gentle circles while you continue to fake your coughs, each one more excruciating than the last.
âMm- sorry.â You mumble, coming up from his pillow- your face red and eyes watery. âBetter get to sleep, Ani.â
âYeah.â He whispers, his eyes gently drooping as they never leave yours. âSweet dreams, sweetheart.â
âSweet dreams, Ani.â You hold your breath momentarily and close your eyes as you press a soft kiss to the top of his head. His skin was soft and warm underneath your lips, and you realize it probably lingered a lot longer than it needed to.
You lie on your back, staring at the ceiling, listening to his soft breaths as he scoots closer to âget comfortable,â his arm brushing against yours. He pulled you close, his legs a comforting weight against yours, arm securely around your torso, his hand resting lightly but possessively on your shoulder. If Anakin could find any possible excuse to cuddle, he would- especially when he was drunk.
Once you heard the soft, rhythmic snores leaving his lips, you carefully began to extract yourself from his bed, moving as slowly as you could to avoid waking him. You sat up slowly, his arms falling into a comfortable position, the quiet stillness of the room broken only by the gentle rustle of the sheets. Unfortunately, his bed was against the wall, and he was the closest to the edge. That would be something else you had to work around.
You shimmied your feet away, slowly inching closer to the wall and out of his grasp. Before scooting further from the man in his bed, you took a second to study his sleeping form, noticing the rise and fall of his chest and the peaceful set of his jaw. In the dim, orange glow of the salt lamp on his nightstand, Anakin's face appeared almost ethereal, his features softened by the soft light. His lips parted slightly, his brows furrowed in a deep frown, his cheek squished into the soft, downy pillow. Itâd be difficult to not want to stay.
You finally slid off the bed, your sock-clad feet hitting the cold, smooth wooden floor, the chill seeping into your toes. You snatched your shoes and purse, the leather cool against your skin, then tiptoed to the door, desperate to avoid waking him. The door creaked under your touch, a rusty groan that echoed the finality of your action as you looked at him one last time before sighing and shutting the door. You leaned against the door, squeezing your eyes shut in frustration.
The light turns on. Fuck.
At this point in time, you have 2 seconds to get out of the basement door before Ahsoka, Shmi, or Cliegg confront you about this.
So, you run. Thank god the alarm system had been deactivated (they hadnât put the new one in). You open the back door and shut it quietly behind you as fast as you could.
âAnakin?â You hear Shmi asked, muffled by the sound of the door.
You raced up the hill beside his house, the bright moonlight reflecting off the wet stones of the path as you pushed through fragrant, moonlit bushes. The fragrant jasmine blossoms brushed against you as you walked through the trellis, then around the corner to your driveway, a sense of calm washing over you. Weaving through the cars, the cold seeped into your socks as you unlocked your front door, but the warmth of your house enveloped you as you slipped inside.
You sank to the floor behind your front door, the weight of the day lifting as you finally caught your breath, the quiet of your home surrounding you. You checked your watch; the faint glow of the numbers illuminated the dark, 5:03 AM. Could be worse. At least you managed to find a secret, third option tonight. No sex, not caught, and you stayed with him long enough he was asleep.
However, little do you know, a certain someoneâs younger sister happened to be watching from the upstairs window the whole time. She would save that conversation for later, of course.
The faint sounds of birds chirping signal the rising sun as you finally settle into bed. Youâre absolutely determined to sleep in- and so you do.
As the sunlight poured in under your sleep mask, it was too bright to be deemed morning light. You stirred slightly, waning out if your dream-filled haze as images of Anakin warming his hands over a fire began to leave your eyes. You reach up, a fingertip brushing against cool silk, and poke an eye out from under the mask, surveying the bright, sunlit room.
One shoe lay near the vanity, the other by the bathroom door, while your clothes were strewn across the floor in a chaotic pile near the bed, a silent testament to a restless night. Your purse was lopsided on your chair- perfume, coins, and miscellaneous gift cards spilling out of it. The kirkland makeup wipes were left open, a couple dirty ones caked with various shades of lipstick and eyeshadow from the previous day were resting comfortably near the trash can. At least you remembered to unplug your curling iron this time; the scorch marks on the carpet from the last incident were still a fresh reminder of your near-disaster.
With a long, slow stretch, you extend your arms over your head, feeling the tension ease from your shoulders as the mask drops to your neck. Rubbing your eyes and letting out a small yawn, sleep was still taking control of you. With a groan, you flip onto your stomach, the mattress springs protesting beneath you, and grab your phone. The time was 4:36 PM and you had slept the day away. This was what Sundays were for- it didnât matter. Your eyes glanced down to the 14 messages you had received since you fell into your late slumber.
Ani- 8:46 AM: Thank you for last night. I owe you. Hope you got some sleep. Iâm glad we spent that time together. And, Y/N- Iâm serious if you ever need anything. Iâll always be here for you.
Mom- 10:32 AM: Honey, I left a quiche in the fridge for when you wake up. Just take your time, everythingâs okay. I hope you can rest today. Love you.
Shmi- 10:45 AM: Was that you leaving the basement late last night?
Mom- 10:48 AM: Iâm so sorry I texted you- hope I didnât wake you honey. Just want you to be happy and healthy. Iâm worried.
Dad- 11:15 AM: Are you awake? Momâs acting strange again. Sheâs worried about you.
Soka <3- 12:05 PM: hey, if youâre feeling up to it we should catch a movie tonight- maybe some mexican food and margs after. lemme know. itâs all totally up to you- whatever you feel comfortable with.
Ani- 12:24 PM: Need me to get your car later?
Harvardâs Elite Scholar- 12:49 PM: Hey Y/N/N, been thinking about you lately. Hope you are doing okay today. If you need absolutely anything Iâm always here for you- especially if you need some time away from the family. If you ever want to talk- Iâm here. I love you girl- hope this weekend was good for money!
Mom- 1:43 PM: Need anything from the store?
Mom- 2:17 PM: I got you some ice cream. Itâll be good for you.
Dad- 2:46 PM: I just got home. Are you awake?
Benny- 3:05 PM: Can I borrow your calculator?
Benny- 3:07 PM: Nevermind. Found mine.
Ani- 3:53 PM: Hey, got off work early. Need car yet?
âFuck,â You chuck your phone onto the side of your bed, running a hand through your hair as memories of last night filled your mind.
Anakinâs âinnocentâ touches, his eyes never leaving yours- unless it waa your lips, his soft snores in your car. And he really begged you to stay with him- telling you that he needed you. The soft glow of his lamp, highlighting every little thing you adored about the man. How could you even begin to think about those text messages?
You leaned back into your pillow and groaned, rubbing your eyes as the sun attempted to find its way into your line of sight once more. Did everyone know your secret? Did Anakin tell them? Why was everyone and everything so fucking weird in Brookline.
With two taps on your bedroom door, you groan even louder as you pull the covers over your head. You eyes were heavy, the yawns persisted. You were still exhausted. The taps continued.
âWho is it?â You croaked out as the door opened slowly.
âHey- woah. Are you okay?â Ben asked as he welcomed himself into your room, plopping onto the bed beside you.
âYeah,â You bring the covers up further on your chest, eyeing your clothes on the floor. âJust tired.â
âY/N-â
âI know itâs well past 4. I had a late night.â
âAre you okay?â Ben scoots closer, his brows furrowed as he surveyed your face for any hint of injury or sadness.
âBen- Iâm fine. Anakin came in last night and got wasted while we played pool- well, it was kinda my fault. Anyways, I had to take him home and I didnât get to sleep until around 5ish. And this weekend was long. Iâm exhausted. I still have to study, do some laundry, pick up my fucking car-â
âSlow down.â Ben smiles, âEverythingâs going to be okay. You donât need to be worried anymore, youâre okay.â
You squint your eyes at his words, an undertone behind them you canât make out.
âWhat do you mean I donât have to be worried?â You lean closer, cocking your head slightly to the side.
âNothing.â Ben avoids your gaze, moving back and bouncing his knee. âI should probably get going.â
âBen, wait-â You attempt to hop up after him- but your eyes dance back to the clothes on your floor. Fuck.
âI hope you rest today. Love you.â
The door shuts, the latch clicking softly in the sudden silence. You aggressively throw yourself back down onto the bed, grabbing the pillow and squeezing it against your face, muffling the scream that rips from your throat. You were beyond frustrated with everyone and everything. You needed to go for a hike, get a coffee, or something. But, of course, you didnât have a fucking car.
A long, hot shower was just what you needed; the steam filled the bathroom, and the heat soothed your aching muscles. With a few candles casting a warm, gentle light and the calming strains of soft music filling the air, you washed the memories and bad thoughts away. With each stroke of soapy water, the gentle friction a welcome sensation, your mind wandered to those mesmerizing deep blue eyes. The feeling of his rough hands in yours, the way they would feel on your waist, traveling down to your hips.
His fingers would dance on the tops of your thighs, while his calloused fingers kissing the exposed skin on your lower back as he lightly pressed you into him. Heâd lean closer, his soft pink lips meeting your collarbone, licking and biting while his fingers finally met the inside of your thigh. You could practically smell his cologne at this point, your knees growing weak at the thought, your thighs squeezing together.
Your eyes shot open at the next song. Mazzy Star. Your breath hitches, a gasp caught in your throat as your hand, still resting gently on your hip, lingers; the soap is long gone. You bite your lip at your thought, the guilt eating you alive as your heart pounds.
Your hand moves lower- itâs not like heâd know. Heâs your best friend- and surely heâs thought of you like that before too, right? And it absolutely doesnât mean anything- you just need that ache between your legs to disappear. Post nut clarity, right? It'll slip your mind; you won't even think about it again. You wonât. Nope. Inch by inch, your fingers make their way down until they reach your clit, and a small gasp escapes your lips. Youâre too far gone.
You turn the water off, the shower's warmth still clinging to your skin, and open the curtain to a cool breeze that raises goosebumps on your arms. You grab a towel and some lotion, drying yourself while moisturizing. That Boston dry air was no joke. When your body and hands are dry, you pick up your phone from the counter and check.
Mom- 5:12 PM: Dinnerâs almost done.
The time was 5:20. Theyâre definitely waiting on you.
The sound of your feet pounded on the wooden stairs as you swung into the kitchen, hair dripping and shirt on backward. Your mom raises a skeptical eyebrow, tossing the salad with a practiced flick of the wrist, the scent of vinaigrette filling the air. Your dad's laugh cuts through the quiet, drawing your attention to the table where he and Ben are animatedly discussing some sports nonsense, their words punctuated by the occasional thump of a fist on the table.
âThe Celtics are on an amazing run is all Iâm saying. We Wouldnât be anything without Jayson Tatum.â Ben takes a sip of his beer, turning around and eyeing the time on the oven.
âYeah, but heâs no Kobe, Ben. And the Nuggets are doing so much-â
âFuck Denver!â
âBen!â Your mom scolds, putting on her oven mitts and pulling out the steaks that have been searing. âStop it with that! I personally like Denver, I think Jokic is entertaining.â
âAnd this is why Dad and Ben wonât talk to you about basketball, Mom.â You reach for the white wine, pouring yourself and your mom a glass while she temps the steak. Your fingers shake around the glass a little, your shower thoughts finding their way back into your mind.
âTheyâre absolutely perfect! Iâve done it again!â Your mom cuts you out of your trance as she squeals. âBon appetit, my little ones.â She sets the table with dinner, and you awkwardly take a seat next to Ben.
As you begin to serve yourself and eat, the hair on your arms raises as your eyes dart between the people around you, noticing their hushed whispers and judging stares. Dinner felt oddly quiet without the Skywalkers; the missing laughter and familiar banter hung in the air, but you remained silent. The feeling washed over you again, and you glanced up to find your family silently communicating with exaggerated expressions and hand movements, certain you weren't listening. Your mom motions to you, her red lips forming a tight frown as she looks pointedly at Ben, her eyes narrowed. His eyes went wide, a silent plea in their depths, and then he shrugged, the movement dismissing whatever she had tried to convey without words. Your dad furrows his brows at Ben, rolling his eyes at the audacity of his son.
âSo,â Your mom starts, setting her fork down as the loud clatter rings through the unusually silent room. âY/N, we wanted to- well- as a family, we wanted to check in on you and see how you were doing since youâve got back. We have been worried.â
Your eyes darted to Ben. He avoids your gaze, his fork pressing checkerboard patterns into his mashed potatoes.
âI-Iâm fine. I donât understand. Is this an intervention for a problem Iâm not even aware of?â You giggle slightly, staring down at the tomatoes in your salad. The table does not reciprocate your humor.
âWe disagree, honey.â Your dad speaks up, and your breath hitches in your throat. âDid something happen in Hampton?â Your heart drops.
âNo. Nothing happened. And I donât know why youâd think that. And I donât even know why the fuck weâre having this conversation!â Your voice raises, your knuckles turning white around your fork, âIn fact, even if something did happen- which it didnât- I donât see how itâs the business of anyone sitting at this table! Can we just eat this fucking food? Mom worked hard. Drop it.â
The table goes silent. Your mom picks up her wine glass and takes a long sip. Ben and Dad glance at each other, their silent conversation infuriating you.
âFuck this.â You push your plate to the center of the table, getting up and leaving as fast as you could before your tears caught up to you.
The door slammed shut behind you, and you scrambled under the covers of your bed, the cool sheets a welcome relief. The darkness of your room provided solace within your panic. Your heart was heavy, weighing down your chest with each ragged breath you took. Getting air under your covers wasnât exactly easy, either. But within your panic, your survival instincts had vanished, and you remained where you were.
Did Anakin betray your trust? Could your best friend- your confidante- betray you like this? It didnât seem possible. But everything began to connect. The glances when they thought you werenât looking- the constant texts and âwhatever you wantâ, âwhatever makes you comfortableâ, âas long as you are happyâ. Was this all just pity?
The thought hung heavy in the air: they had to know, you concluded, a shiver tracing your spine. Whether Anakin told them, or someone else heard- they knew. They knew and that was bad and they were going to be ashamed of you. They knew and theyâd never forgive you for leaving them for a piece of shit like Nick. They knew and theyâd hurt you like Nick-
âY/N?â Ben cracked your bedroom door open, the small sound of your sobs filling the dark space.
âCan I please just get some fucking time to myself?â You croak out, throwing the covers back over yourself.
The moment your tear-filled eyes locked with his, a wave of nausea washed over you; your stomach dropped. His eyes were red-rimmed and bloodshot, his hands shook uncontrollably, and his hair was a tangled mess. Ben was the type of person to make you feel unproductive and gross. He smelled immaculate, his hair always long but perfect- smooth and shiny. At one point you went to him for hair advice. He was consistently 15 minutes early for everything, always well rested and read. He prepared for anything and everything.
But right now, Ben looked uneasy- he never looked uneasy. And that terrified you.
âBen- Iâm serious-â
âAnd so am I. Youâre not being honest-â
âNeither are you!â You shout, standing up from your bed and walking towards him, âI donât understand what you all think is going on.â
âY/N-â He cuts himself off, rubbing his chin and shaking his head, âYouâre not yourself.â
âWhat do you mean Iâm not myself? What the fuck does that even mean, Ben?â
âY/N you know exactly what Iâm talking about! For fucks sake!â You freeze and Ben stops, letting himself take a deep breath- clearly choosing his next words carefully. âY/N, you donât need to hide from me. I know.â
A sickening lurch in your stomach throws you off balance, the intense nausea overwhelming you. Any hint of saliva has vanished from you mouth, your breath caught in your throat as you gaze upon your older brother.
âBen, I donât-â
âFuck, Y/N,are you really going to make me say it? Anakin told me. I know. You donât have to hide and you couldâve told us for fuckâs sake!â
Ben pauses, his breath catching in his throat as he looks upon your face, your glossy eyes blazing with a newfound rage, hot tears streaming down your cheeks. Your fingernails dug into your palms so hard they were close to bleeding.
âA-Anakin told you?â
âY/N, wait-â Ben grabs your arm as you stomp towards the door, his eyes filled with concern, regret, and worry.
âBen- let me fucking go. This was not Anakinâs place-â
âY/N, he was fucking worried!â He pleads, his grip tightening on your arm.
âAnd I donât give a fuck, Ben! Now fucking let go of me!â You dig your nails into his arm, prompting him to let go.
The second he does, youâre out of there and down the stairs. You donât even bother to put on shoes, your mind fuzzy with anger. You throw open the front door, your parents behind you watching, probably concerned. You let it slam behind you- hoping that it keeps them from following.
The rough, uneven stone path dug into your feet as you ran, each step jarring you up the driveway and into the side yard. You wiggle the rusty basement door, its cold metal chilling your fingers. Locked. Fuck, this wasnât going to be pretty. But, alas, you turned the corner and walked to the garage.
Your hands trembled, fingers fumbling on the keypad; the button clicked, and the heavy door groaned open before you. You ducked under it, not even bothering to wait for it to fully open, and walked into the house. Shmi and Cliegg were never ones to say anything- this was typical for you and Ben to do. You turned the corner, the worn wooden banister cool beneath your hand, and ran up the creaking stairs, throwing open the study door to find Anakin exactly where you expected.
âY/N!â He shot up from his textbook, a yellow pencil tucked behind his ear, âAre you okay? What are you-â
âAnakin, what the FUCK is your problem?â You shove him forward, his brows furrow and his hand grab both of your wrists, holding you in place in front of him.
âY/N, what-â
âAnakin, how could you? I trusted you?â Your hands shake under his grasp, choked sobs escaping your lips while your eyes search his.
He bites his lip, his eyes fixated on you, a dull ache settling in his chest. At what he caused. His hand finds its way to your back, pulling you close as the sobs wrack your body, the warmth of his touch a stark contrast to the chill of your tears. You freeze under his touch- he told them. Everyone knows.
With a gasp, you shoved him back, a blur of motion, furiously wiping the tears that streamed down your face.
âFuck you.â
âY/N, I was just trying to help-â
âTrying to help? Trying to help, huh? Do you really think Iâm that fucking incapable? That I canât tell my own family and friends what happened? No, you had to do it fucking for me! I fucking hate you.â
âY/N, you donât mean-â
âAnakin! Will you shut the fuck up-â
âNo!â he yelled, his fingers digging into your wrists as he pulled you back. You knew he was seeing red- and you knew he cared. But by god youâd be lying if you said you werenât terrified at that moment.
âY/N, you need to shut the fuck up. I know you. You werenât going to tell anyone and you were going to let it tear you up inside until you were a fucking shell of yourself. You need help- you do. Everyone fucking knows it- and not just cause of me! Yes, I told Ben and Ahsoka, but Iâm not sorry. I only care about you.â His grip loosens on your wrist as he searches your red eyes for something.
Your hand swiftly meets his cheek. It stings upon impact and he gasps.
âFuck you, Anakin. Youâre dead to me.â
âââââââââââââââ

TLG: Final 10 Episodes Sketch Dump
September 2nd once again fell on a Labor Day, like it once did when the final 10 episodes of TLG dropped on WatchTLG (due to its early release on the old DisneyNOW app). The alignment of the exact day, month, and holiday five years later put me in the spirit to sketch away as I rewatched these episodes.
I was there when the countdown on the WatchTLG site had about an hour left. I hadn't seen a full episode of TLG until that point because I at the time thought I wouldn't be into it. I saw the synopses for these episodes leaked somewhere online and was doubtful yet VERY hopeful that the one with Vitani's Lion Guard was going to be a real episode simply because I wanted to see her in new content, regardless of my familiarity with the show.
When I binge-watched these final episodes with a friend, my relationship with the show improved as I went to watch the rest of the show over the next few months. I was so grateful to see so much content and worldbuilding for the TLK universe
Sketch descriptions under the cut:
1. Friends to the End
I've said this before in a review of this episode, but whether or not the writers intended this, their portrayal of irritability brought on by an anxiety attack is astounding. Kion's anxiety is piled up more and more when he's in a hurry to find a cure at the Tree of Life, Bunga repeatedly tells him he's becoming like Scar, and the rest of the group just "blind leading the blind"-in their journey SO badly because they're a bunch of unsupervised freshman-aged kids who are in their "Well I wouldn't go THAT far" or "Can I be the devil's advocate" phase.
This situation of fearing becoming like a shitty family member and being told you are by people when you're already in a vulnerable state is just SO vile and unfortunately so real. I found myself relating hard to this episode due to Kion's valid af anger in this episode, which is why I had to draw Kion claiming his "Don't you just wanna go apeshit??" era.
Kion is basically me throughout this episode and the entire first half of Season 3. It is SO HARD to get through this season sometimes when these same couple of lines keep coming at least once per episode. As soon as I hear Fuli saying "Uhh... Kion?" or "KION!!" I know exactly what's coming.
2. The Tree of Life:
Since we never get to see Sahasi and Ananda's color palettes they had in life, I took what I could make out from their spirit forms as well as some creative liberties, and came up with what they may have looked like on Earth.
Ananda is where Baliyo gets his freckles and dull, dark pelt, and where Rani gets her purple pupils, red nose, and dark tail. Sahasi is where Rani gets her richer pelt and where Baliyo gets his nose gradient, multicolored mane, and lighter tail color.
Fun Fact: According to some email responses from a member of the team who worked on TLG, they said that Sahasi was meant to be Janna's son, which for me, puts an end to a debate I had in my head where I was stuck between either him or Ananda being Janna's child: On one hand, I liked the idea of Sahasi and Surak being the foils of Mufasa and Scar, but also liked the idea of Ananda as Janna's daughter and heir since they looked so alike, as well as it solidifying the martriarchy headcanon I have for the Night Pride. Though the team member didn't straight-up provide Sahasi's relation to Janna and Surak as an absolute fact, rather it was simply the gist they got from the creation of Sahasi's character, it's an answer from a team member at all, which I can absolutely settle with. I decided to give him a similar fur color to Surak because of that.
3. The River of Patience:
I just HAD to doodle eepy Kion. It's like the one part of this episode that sticks with me outside the wholesome therapy dynamics and Kion heroically holding the flower between his teeth. This is basically him but if he fully succumbed to falling asleep waiting for the log.
4. Little Old Ginterbong:
Can I just say that I fucking LOVE Mama Binturong's character?? She's absolutely insane and constantly looks like an addict that needs her fix. She makes me nostalgic for some reason, and I think it's gotta do with her Mama Gunda vibes (which is odd because I wasn't even that young when I saw Tarzan II). I had to draw her doing the thing lol
5. Poa the Destroyer:
All I could think about throughout this episode besides the rare Evil Beshte is how insufferable Pinguino is. I mean it in kind of a good way, his personality is so ridiculous that he's made me laugh a few times.
6. Long Live the Queen:
Surprisingly, the sketch regarding this episode is probably the least expected subject matter out of anything I could've put here: An idea that's been forming in my head for a bit now was the idea of Bunga and Binga continuing the fostering/babysitting business of Bunga's "uncles". Bunga is shown to be a natural with young animals in a few episodes, and it continues in the subplot of this episode where he watches over Varya's cubs.
7. The Lake of Reflection:
The one thing that viscerally stuck with me in this episode was the unbelievably cute design they gave bby Cheezi. Had to sketch him.
8. Triumph of the Roar:
Obligatory Askari sketch because I actually love drawing him and making headcanons of his era. Looking back... he kinda looks like he's looking down at the events of the bottom drawing in slight disappointment.
9. Journey to the Pride Lands:
Drew Azaad (for what I think might be the first time) with the only thing he seemed to be doing throughout this episode -- taking any opportunity he can to comment about how much better cheetahs are at basically everything. He's fun to draw and I'd like to do more art of him one day.
10. Return to the Pride Lands
This is a sketch of what I deadass thought was gonna happen during this scene the first time I saw this episode lmao. At the time, the previous two episodes were fresh on my mind so I thought Kion was once again going to spam his tornado ability, but with Vitani as his subject for his demonstration. She already knew so little of the Roar as it was, given her absence throughout most of TLG's storyline, but could you imagine what she must've been thinking seeing how much Kion's Roar evolved?

Bobby's 2023 Media Wrap-Up
So! Like I said before, this past year I kept a running list of everything I watched, every game I finished, every new album I listened to, etc., and wrote one-paragraph blurbs with my thoughts on every single one. Please enjoy this journey through everything I liked, or didn't like, in 2023, with my favorites of the year listed at the bottom.
(Yes! This is long!!)
Some notes:
I mainly only included things I finished. Exceptions are marked with an asterisk.
I included some YouTube stuff as "TV shows" - mostly particularly long, high effort video essays and documentaries.
I was a bit less adventurous than I'd like to have been this year. Part of this was just that I felt like I was constantly playing catch-up with Big Releases I felt obligated to check out, and part of this was just executive dysfunction from burnout. Wait until you see how long it took me to beat Mario Wonder lmao
Yes, I need to read more books. I don't read a lot of books these days. I need to get back to Discworld.
COLOR KEY
Video Games ⢠TV / Web Video  ⢠ Movies  ⢠ Comics  ⢠ Music
January
1/15: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (MSQ) - Very slow at times, the Primal shit is generally extremely lame to me outside of the boss fights themselves, but god if the quality of life improvements over WoW, the JRPG energy, and the fact that it Actually Has A Story carry it pretty hard.
1/18: Sonic the Hedgehog: Scrapnik Island miniseries - One of the most creative and compelling uses of the Sonic IP⌠ever? Fantastic little self-contained arc about the struggles of Eggmanâs abandoned creations that gracefully weaves between heartfelt optimism and moody horror with some of the best art ever seen in a Sonic comic.
1/18: Mega Man X4 - Glad I finally actually beat this after never even beating any of the Mavericks as a kid! I can see why itâs a lot of peoplesâ favorites. The gameplay has very little of that X series bloat and is just fun, especially after getting Xâs armor upgrades. (But the story really is a long series of missed opportunities.)
February
2/2: Donks - Felix Colgrave continues to be an exceptional artist. The sound design on this is fantastic and really sells this short as something unique. Had to go back and watch his older stuff again after this.
2/4: Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward (3.0 - 3.3 MSQ) - I get it now. I get why people say this is just a proper mainline Final Fantasy game built into the framework of an MMO. That shit ruled. Not even walking back the drama in UlâDah from the end of ARR can sour me on it because the main storyline was so strong.
2/8: Disneyland's Forgotten Sci-Fi Rock Band - Live From the Space Stage - A nice and honest tribute to a group of artists who could have easily been forgotten. In hindsight this feels like a precursor to Kevinâs Disney Channel jingle video, a tribute to the unsung artists pouring their hearts into âlesserâ art for a megacorporation, art that was designed to be transient but sticks with people nonetheless.
2/9: Metroid Prime Remastered* - Not gonna finish because I just played through the Wii version in 2021, but still. Very, very pretty remaster.
2/16: Theatrhythm Final Bar Line - Itâs more Theatrhythm. What more could I want
2/17: JoJoâs Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean (anime) - Probably the best part of the anime so far (assuming they continue on to SBR). A near perfect mix of the more structured plot of part 5 with the goofiness of parts 3 and 4 that crescendos into a fantastic, bombastic, emotional, bittersweet ending. The use of footage from the original opening and the new ending set to Roundabout in the finale were perfect, and made me intensely nostalgic for the early days of my JoJo fandom between seasons 1 and 2 of the anime.
2/22: Aggretsuko Season 5 - I donât really know what to make of this one. Once you get past the agonizing initial arc all about Haida where Retsuko has to be his overbearing mommy GF who flips out and starts spying on him when sheâs left on read and chides him when he misbehaves, it feels like an improvement over the previous seasons. But I donât know how much of that is due to the extremely low bar set by season 4. And then the ending is extremely rushed and anticlimactic. They got legally married and the only acknowledgement was a shot of them signing the paperwork in a montage partway through the final episode?????????
2/24: Double Fine PsychOdyssey - God, what a journey the making of this game was. I already loved 2 Playerâs past efforts at documenting Double Fineâs process, but this takes it to a whole new level. This feels culturally significant. The depth and honesty with which they depict not just the nitty gritty of making a game, but also the inherent struggles of working on a collaborative creative work for years at a time, is astounding. Not to mention that they were there to capture the shift from office life to remote work as COVID hit. So much of this would have been nightmarishly stressful to watch if I didnât already know how successful the game was, but thatâs just because they really didnât sugarcoat it. And yet even after all that, it leaves me feeling optimistic about video games as an art form in a way that the constant headlines about cynical live service games donât. There are still people out there pouring their hearts into making real art, and this is their story. Everyone who plays video games should watch this.
2/25: Cracker Island (Gorillaz) - New Gorillaz albums feel like less of an event these days, but after Humanz it feels like theyâre just more chill with the project and their ambitions with it. Every couple years we get some more laid back jams from Damon along with some fun new collabs. Hard to complain. Favorite track: New Gold
2/25: Pool Kids (Pool Kids) - I discovered this band because Derek knows them and was excited when they got a song added to Fortnite through the Bandcamp collab. Always down to find more cool indie rock bands I can vibe with. The mix of dreamy vocals and energetic riffs on some of the tracks here almost fill the Crying-shaped hole in my heart. Almost⌠Favorite track: Conscious Uncoupling
2/25: Insane in the Rain (insaneintherainmusic) - I thought it was really funny timing when Carlos announced that his first original project would be a jazz fusion album inspired by acts like T-Square and Casiopea right as I was getting into those two specific bands. The final product does not disappoint. Favorite track: Insane in the Rain
2/26: Get Up Sequences Part Two (The Go! Team) - Iâve never been one to believe that a bandâs sound has to remain exactly the same forever, but it really does hit you hard that the first two tracks here sound like classic The Go! Team. Their more recent cleaner sound is still here too, though, for a nice mix of old and new. Favorite track: Divebomb
2/28: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (Season 1) - Oh my god. Oh my god. I got distracted around the time I was finishing SLARPG, but finally catching up now, wow. My assumption that the seemingly lighter tone of the series compared to the prologue was there to lull us into a false sense of security before twisting the knife when war finally breaks out was spot on. This is peak Gundam.
March
3/4: Pizza Tower - One of the best platformers Iâve played in a long time. It transcends its blatant Wario Land inspirations with the sheer speed at which Peppino can move and the way things like the level design, his wall running, and even the hidden ability to do a second lap around the level reward getting into a flow state where youâre just constantly moving. This is the type of game that wants to turn you into a speedrunner. My only real complaint is a few iffy enemy designs that I wish would get patched.
3/6: Bloons TD 6 * - I bought this before bed one night on a nostalgic whim and then the next morning woke up and saw the Steam receipt email on my phone in one of the most âwhat did I do last nightâ moments of my life. I like when the monkeys pop the balloons.
3/7: The Book of Boba Fett - I put off finishing this show for a very long time but finally caved upon the release of The Mandalorian season 3. This show spends four episodes failing to make me give a shit about Boba Fett trying to be âthe daimyoâ and drive the drug trade off of Tatooine, then just gives up and becomes season 2.5 of Mando, which in turn feels like it undercuts the main series. It fails as both its own story and as a spinoff. I know that finishing this after Andor did it no favors, but WHOOF.
3/12: Obi-Wan Kenobi - Some interesting ideas in the first half hinting at a more introspective show, but itâs mostly swept aside in the back half so it can become a generic Star Wars adventure remixing things from A New Hope and Rebels (and apparently Jedi: Fallen Order). Action scenes have zero stakes because you know nothing can happen to any of the returning characters and none of the new ones are particularly interesting. Why thereâs a second climax hinging on a Luke Skywalker death fakeout eludes me. Obi-Wan throwing the rocks at Vader is one of the funniest things in Star Wars history. But it was still better than Book of Boba Fett, I guess.
3/19: The King of Braves GaoGaiGar - Wow, cool robot indeed⌠GaoGaiGar isnât going to blow anyone away with its writing, but sometimes you just need a really fun monster of the week mecha show with great action and lovably goofy characters. This is a show where like 20% of every episode consists of recycled transformation, combination, and signature attack sequences and I ate it up every time because they look fucking cool as hell. I donât care. Iâd watch Final Fusion another 49 times.
3/21: The Last of Us (HBO) * - Watched the first two episodes out of curiosity, but Iâm not sure if Iâll continue because I donât give a shit about The Last of Us. Itâs definitely a well done adaptation, though, even if I know itâs inevitably going to devolve into miserable torture porn with questionable politics if they adapt Part II faithfully. The ending of episode 2 also lines up perfectly with where I stopped in the game in 2013 lmao
3/27: The Future is a Dead Mall - Decentraland and the Metaverse (Folding Ideas) - Another banger from Dan Olson. This time the premise inherently gives him more time to just show off a bunch of stupid ugly bullshit made by crypto guys, which is fun. My main complaint was that I wished he wouldâve brought up Second Life more as a point of comparison (a thing I basically always want out of discussion of âthe metaverseâ), but he at least did touch on it in the last section.
3/31: The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog - I canât believe after years of begging for the supporting cast to get more and better material in a Sonic game I got my wish in the form of a freeware murder mystery VN released for April Fools. This kicked ass.
April
4/7: Berserk - Completed Miuraâs run and caught up on the chapters that have been released posthumously. Itâs hard to say anything that hasnât been said about Berserk, universally agreed upon as one of the greats of manga and fantasy fiction as a whole. What begins in its first few volumes as a nihilistic and edgy action comic built to facilitate as much sex and gore as possible quickly evolves into something deeply human and vulnerable and beautiful, both figuratively and in terms of its lavish art. The world sucks and is immeasurably cruel, and you will see that cruelty illustrated in graphic, sickening detail repeatedly throughout the series. (Perhaps a little too often throughout the Golden Age, where it feels like Miura never misses an opportunity to threaten Casca with sexual assault mid-battle.) But the point isnât to wallow in that misery. Itâs the story of a victim of horrific abuse learning to slowly open up to others, having those people he cares about torn away from him in the worst night of his life, hardening himself into a cold killing machine, and then slowly learning to open back up again, even if it means leaving himself vulnerable to more hurt. Anyone who says that the series peaked with the eclipse and went downhill in the âGutsâ JRPG Partyâ era is missing the point. Guts needed to find new people in his life to care about, to begin to find happiness again. Because no matter what unspeakable things Guts has gone through, itâs still possible for him to heal and to be loved. It takes time, but eventually you stop and realize that life has moved on.
4/8: Dededeâs Drum Dash Deluxe - Skipped it upon release because I didnât particularly care for the minigame in Triple Deluxe, and I didnât miss much. Itâs fine as a little distraction, but not as a standalone rhythm game with only seven songs. If you donât bother with the hard modes or chase after high scores this game is 15 minutes long. Oh how I yearn for Kirby to get the Theatrhythm treatment.
4/10: The King of Braves: GaoGaiGar FINAL - Eh⌠It was okay. Lots of cool robot fights, but said fights are stitched together with a mediocre plot that tries too hard to be more âmatureâ than its unabashedly schlocky kidsâ show predecessor. Not crazy about the ending, either, which tries to be a bittersweet farewell closing off the series once and for all while also teasing that maybe thereâll be ANOTHER sequel after the OVA series they literally called âFINAL.â Ah well.
4/11: The Owl House - Sad to see this one go, but itâs hard to imagine them doing a better finale than this, even if they had gotten the six seasons they deserved. Iâm not as obsessed with The Owl House as I probably wouldâve been had it come out when I was, like, 20, but itâs a really fantastic show for all the reasons people always say. Great characters, great world, great story. I love that this starry-eyed fantasy story about a teenager finding love and a place where she belongs is also set on the rotting corpse of a titan with Hieronymous Bosch-inspired scenery and freaky monsters everywhere. What a great mix. If anything, I just wish I wouldâve watched the first season as it aired so I couldâve had more time with it.
4/29: Mega Man Battle Network 3: Blue Version - FINALLY beat this via the new collection, 20 years after playing it as my first Mega Man game. (Technically my first was White, not Blue, but whatever.) There are more annoyances than I remember - lots of really really bad forced backtracking sections where you have to revisit every previous part of the internet, low chip drop rates, some really aggravating bosses like BubbleMan and KingMan, etc. But itâs still a great time overall. Itâs Battle Network. In the back half the story gets surprisingly emotional, too. I was always under the assumption that the Hub stuff never came back up much in the story after 1, so I was pleasantly surprised with how relevant it was to the emotional arc of 3.
4/30: Mega Man Battle Network 4: Red Sun * - Yeah Iâm not playing through the whole thing lmao. I just wanted to play the first couple hours for nostalgiaâs sake, and as a baseline for how much better the rest are. Even before getting deep in the game and having to deal with all the shit gated between doing two new game+ playthroughs, itâs immediately obvious how much of a downgrade this one is. Tons of glaring errors and typos all over the script, blander music, a way more boring aesthetic for the internet, and a premise that mostly just recycles the tournament idea from 3.
May
5/14: The Venture Bros. - Glad I finally sat down and watched all of this with Anthony after having seen one (1) episode as a teenager and a bunch of random clips in the years since. Great show. Some jokes in the early seasons havenât aged gracefully, but what the show grows into over time... man. Hank and Dean go from being the butt of the joke to being characters you actually sympathize with - while still also being funny little goofballs. And the journey Henchman 21 goes on throughout the show. Man. Amazing that a comedy like this could run for 20 years and maintain its level of quality. Canât wait for the movie.
5/18: Future Me Hates Me (The Beths) - Okay yeah Iâm now just discovering bands through Fortnite lmao. I canât complain really, they pick some really great indie artists for the in-game radio stations. Anyway: Itâs very easy to win me over with a combination of energetic power pop, catchy guitar riffs, and earnest lyrics like this. One of those albums where three or four tracks in I know I have to buy it. Favorite track: Not Running
5/18: Jump Rope Gazers (The Beths) - Ditto. Favorite track: Dying to Believe
5/18: Expert In A Dying Field (The Beths) - Another good album. (Iâm listening to these in release order.) Iâve been a bit slower to warm up to this one, initially thinking it was a little too mellow overall, but it might be my favorite after a few listens. Some real high highs. Interestingly, the lead singerâs New Zealand accent is also coming out more in her singing? Favorite track: Your Side (or maybe Head in the Clouds)
5/19: The Super Mario Bros. Movie - As a Mario fan, I think I enjoyed it? As a movie, less so? It was decent, in spite of feeling like they came up with a list of fun action setpieces first and then wrote the absolute bare minimum possible for the story scenes tying it all together. Full thoughts here. (This is the first movie Iâve seen this year, huh? I really donât watch a lot of movies.)
5/23: Don't Know What You're In Until You're Out (Gladie) - I feel like I donât like Gladie as much as I should. Their style of noisy indie rock is very much in my wheelhouse, and I do enjoy listening to them, but I dunno. Maybe itâs that the particular style of vocals makes it more monotonous to me. A good album nonetheless, if not 100% my thing. Favorite track: Nothing
5/24: City Slicker (Ginger Root) - Yes I am still making my way through Bandcamp artists I heard on Fortnite donât @ me. Any excuse to get me to listen to some cool city pop-inspired funk like this is a good excuse. Favorite track: Loretta
5/24: Rikki (Ginger Root) - Favorite track: Why Try
5/25: Spotlight People (Ginger Root) - Favorite track: The Classic
5/29: Succession - A good dramedy series that increasingly focuses more on the drama than the comedy as it progresses, but itâs hard to complain about that since the drama is so compellingly produced. I enjoyed it. That being said, I kind of rankle at the claims that itâs The Greatest TV Show Of All Time. Itâs great, donât get me wrong. Amazing performances all around. But the show LOVES to spin its wheels, to repeat itself, and to let most of its interesting dramatic developments fizzle out before anything really comes of them, almost as if the show is constantly getting bored with its own ideas. To some extent this is intentional - Logan Roy is the untouchable billionaire, his kids fail at everything (but will nonetheless remain billionaires), and in the long run none of them really give a shit about anything other than their own status. But itâs not like things tend to visibly impact anyone else, either, be they supporting characters or the world at large. Even the Big Scary Election, where the Roy siblings are directly responsible for plunging the nation into chaos, ultimately has zero impact on the finale a mere two episodes later. Certain Other Things do have an impact in the last season, though, allowing things to meaningfully change for the cast and for the show to sit with the ensuing drama, which has stopped me from souring on Succession more. There was finally a payoff for something. But it does still kind of feel like a show that goes in circles until itâs ready to call it quits, even if those circles did contain a lot of great acting and music along the way.
5/29: Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts - Iâd watched the first 12 episodes when they originally released, but I guess the Netflix binge release and the fact that all three âseasonsâ came out in one year led to me waiting until it finished⌠and then I just never got around to finishing it. Glad I fixed that! Really fun and stylish cartoon with an art style reminiscent of Teen Titans, a hip hop-filled soundtrack, dynamic fight scenes, and a colorful post-apocalyptic world filled with mutant (mostly anthropomorphic) animals. Iâll admit that at times I do kinda roll my eyes at Kipoâs unshakeable belief that everyone can be friends in a way that I donât necessarily with similar shows like Steven Universe, and not every joke lands, but I dunno. Itâs a kidsâ show. Thatâs to be expected. It doesnât detract from the overall package for me.
June
6/1: Craig of the Creek (Season 4) - Itâs been years and Iâm still processing the fact that kids can turn on Cartoon Network and hear Jeff Rosenstock. Anyway! Craig continues to be one of the best cartoons on TV, consistently funny and creative and way more engaging than a show about a bunch of kids LARPing in the woods has any right to be. This season turned into One Piece with the gang effectively hunting down the Poneglyphs in search of a legendary treasure. The kids think itâll be magic. It isn't. An increasing number of cartoon logic gags aside, this show is firmly set in the real world. Does that make it any less interesting? Hell no. Season 3 turned a game of capture the flag into an all-out five episode war between the heroes and villains, filled with dramatic turnabouts and a climactic guest appearance from Del the Funky Homosapien. Iâm sure however they wrap things up in the (sadly shortened) final season, itâll be great. (Also? I would watch a whole show based on that âwhat ifâ episode that jumped forward to everyoneâs 20s.)
6/6: Barry - Holy shit, what a show. I ended up binging it in less than a week in a cycle of âokay, just one more episode.â The way this show is able to swing between tones and genres while still feeling like a cohesive whole is truly masterful. Itâs a layered character drama, a tragic crime thriller, a farcical comedy, an understated action series, a surrealist morality play, and a scathing satire of Hollywood, all in one. Even within the criminal underworld subplots the show ranges in tone from Breaking Bad to Paddington 2. And it works! While the show naturally gets bleaker over time as it confronts the repercussions of Barryâs murders, it never completely loses sight of its comedic roots. My favorite episode was easily season 2âs âronny/lily,â a mostly self-contained episode that somehow manages to keep throwing the perfect curveballs to escalate its dark comedy.
6/12: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) - Yâall heard of this movie? Pretty good, it turns out. (Iâd seen the theatrical cut before, but this was my first time watching the extended edition. Iâve also only seen parts of the other two movies, so itâs time I finally watch all the extended cuts. The Gollum game pushed me to this.)
6/13: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition) - give it to us RAW and WRIGGLING
6/17: The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (Extended Edition) - Iâm not crying YOUâRE crying
6/22: Clone High (Season 2) - While the first episode being about âcancel cultureâ (or, more accurately, a teenager from 2003 being transported to 2023 and putting his foot in his mouth a lot) put a lot of people off, I ended up enjoying the new season of Clone High. The new clones grew on me as the season went on and their roles in the web of teen romance melodrama crystalized, and it made me laugh a lot, and Cleo/Frida is galaxy brained. Also they played one of my favorite Antarctigo Vespucci songs like a minute into the first episode. I donât think I could really ask for much more.
6/28: The Mandalorian (Season 3) - I'd been watching this weekly but put off the last episode for no real reason. Responses to this season have been all over the place, but my blistering hot take is⌠it was fine. Is it as good as the first season? Probably not. But Mando no longer needs to carry the whole franchise on its shoulders and set the bar for how good the live action Disney Star Wars shows can be, because Andor exists, and itâs never gonna top Andor. The Mandalorian is free to just be a pulpy space adventure show where Giancarlo Esposito plays a scenery-chewing cartoon villain and a little puppet does wire stunts. These are things Andor cannot and should not do, but thatâs Star Wars, baby. Itâs delightful. I could watch Grogu get underhand tossed like a sack of flour all day.
July
7/2: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (Season 2) - LOVE WINS. (More nuanced take from way later: It definitely feels like a lot of the more messy political conflicts in this show got swept aside by the big final battle where some more easily resolved family conflicts take center stage. Iâm not sure the ending is the most satisfying. But also this show only got half the episode count that damn near every other Gundam show ever made got, so that might be a factor here. Idk. Still one of my favorite Gundams.)
7/4: Final Fantasy XVI (watched Anthony play) - I had to write my longest Medium article ever about this one because I was so frustrated
7/10: Home Movies - âThings I like that Iâve never seen in fullâ has certainly been a recurring theme this year. Home Movies remains an all-time classic of animated comedy that went out on a high note before things got stale or the characters became parodies of themselves. While itâs mostly known for its funny improvised banter, throughout the last season you can really see the arc where Brendon no longer enjoys making movies, yet he feels obligated to keep using them to escape from the real world. In that light, the ending where the nature of their dysfunctional makeshift family is cemented, Brendonâs camera suddenly breaks, and life moves on really does feel like the perfect note to end on. Truly one of the best to ever do it.
7/15: The Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom - Wow. Just⌠wow. I had serious doubts about TotK in the months leading up to release due to how close Nintendo was playing their cards to their chest. I didnât want this to be a Saints Row IV, where the game is fun enough but the recycled map makes it feel like a rehash. Instead, I found a game that made me look at BotWâs map in a whole new light, brimming with so many more things to do and people to meet. Add on a better, more versatile set of tools, more varied dungeons and bosses, and a story that I felt was told somewhat better and weâve got a real contender for my new favorite Zelda game. It was hard to tear myself away, but as this list shows, itâs been basically the only game Iâve played since it came out.
7/16: Sonic Prime (Season 2) - I liked the parts with Shadow and Chaos Sonic, but Iâve come to the sad conclusion that most of this show is just mediocre. More thoughts here.
7/18: We ⼠Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie - âIâm a dog, but I love Katamari Damacy.â Truer words have never been spoken.
7/19: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts - Pretty good! It didnât blow me away, but after how bad the Bay movies got Iâm just thankful to have a decently cohesive Transformers movie where the human story is okay and I like the bots (although half of them needed more screen time), even if it is just another Hollywood blockbuster about two sides fighting over a macguffin that devolves into a big CGI battle against an army of nameless monsters in the third act. This is basically a mid-tier MCU movie but with Transformers, which wonât do much for most people, but again: the bar was underground.
7/22: The Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart - God DAMN. A phenomenal ending for the series. While I would have loved to see a full final season to get some more one-off episodes in there, this doesnât feel creatively compromised in any wayâeither due to the time constraints, or due to a desire to make it more marketable as a movie. It really does feel like they just took their outlines for the canceled final season and gently massaged them into the shape of an 84-minute movie, and I mean that in the best possible way. Itâs completely on par with the previous seasons. A hilarious and fitting sendoff for one of the greats of adult animation.
7/23: Beautiful Katamari - This was one of my first Xbox 360 games, but a frustrating temperature-based level made me put it down for 16 years. âMaybe it wonât be as bad now that Iâve beaten the first two games and am better at Katamari,â I thought. Nope! Still an absolutely dogshit level. But also, turns out the whole game is only like two hours long lmao. Itâs still Katamari, so itâs still fun - the final level in particular, which seamlessly takes you from ground level all the way to space, feels like a logical endpoint for the series - but beyond that it just doesn't have the same soul without Keita Takahashi's input.
August
8/4: Doom Singer (Chris Farren) - Iâve been waiting so long for Chris and Jeff to do another Antarctigo Vespucci album, but god damn. This is the best of Chrisâs solo work, and a contender for his best record, period. Every trackâs a banger, with more energy than some of his previous solo work but also a good deal of variety. Favorite tracks: First Place, Cosmic Leash
8/4: Transformers Earthspark (Season 1) - This show had a bit of an uneven start, unsure if it wanted to have the emotional maturity of a more serious action cartoon or a preschool cartoon where the characters have little kid mood swings and outbursts and learn basic lessons. It also felt like it was speedrunning its Wholesome Found Family Dynamic with characters who just met, which didnât feel earned. While these problems never completely go away (see: the cheap and corny way the otherwise very dark season finale suddenly resolves), the show improves quickly, and the positives outweigh the negatives. Itâs so great to have a Transformers cartoon that feels fresh, giving us a post-war setting with a bunch of new characters and new dynamics between the Cybertronians and the humans. The returning characters are also uniformly great as the old veterans overseeing the new generation. (Reformed Megatron! Danny Pudi as Bumblebee! Steve Blum returning as Starscream! Keith David as Grimlock!!!) And those super dynamic action scenes! I can nitpick, but Earthsparkâs a ton of fun, and easily the best new Transformers cartoon since Prime and Animated.
8/5: Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (remaster) - Everyone who told me this game was a masterpiece was right. I had played the first chapter when it dropped as the demo for the iOS version years ago, but never went further than that until now. What a game. Absolutely incredible through and through. Great story, great twists, great characters, great puzzles, great art direction. Everything comes together so perfectly to form a totally unique, unforgettable package, a top tier video game murder mystery. Everyone should play this, preferably going in as blind as possible.
8/15: Itâs Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Season 16) - Wow! Recent seasons of Sunny have been kind of up and down, with some interesting experiments (Mac Finds His Pride, the Ireland arc, etc.) paired with some comedic duds. Most of this latest season is standard fare for the series with fewer big creative swings, but itâs just hit after hit in terms of comedy. Not a single dud, whether weâre seeing Mac and Dennis try to start a rental business for inflatable furniture or watching the gang meet Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, believing the entire time that the latter is Malcolm from Malcolm in the Middle. Even the attempts at topical comedy landed better. Easily the funniest season in years.
8/16: One Piece Film Gold - Itâs easy to see why this one has kind of been forgotten in the wake of Stampede and Film Red, which revolve around established fan favorite characters, but this was still pretty fun. Perhaps a little too long, but itâs fun to see the Straw Hats fool around in a giant casino and do a heist. They definitely cranked the fanservice up even more than usual in this one, though, as I probably should have expected for a movie made alongside the animeâs adaptation of Dressrosa.
8/17: One Piece: Stampede - This one goes for a different kind of fanservice. While most One Piece movies are isolated from the ongoing plot and its expanded cast of characters, Stampede instead asks âWhat if we just put damn near every active character on the same island and had them fight?â The answer: a fun time! It would get old if all of the movies were like this, but after a bunch of movies that are just like âthe Straw Hats are gonna land on another new island and fight some more weird guysâ itâs fun to see characters like Law and Buggy and Smoker get in on the fun. Itâs also nice to get a movie with the Wano era art style, and Usopp surprisingly gets some really good character moments in here.
8/18: One Piece Film Red - This really is the best of the One Piece movies, huh? (Baron Omatsuri is a close second.) It really feels like a change of pace after the last four with the most interesting and emotionally engaging story out of any of them. And even if the events of these movies are never canon, it still feels significant in my understanding of Shanks as a character as we move into the final phase of the manga.
8/21: Pikmin 4 - The opening hour of the game made me really question if theyâd changed too much, with all the focus on your new dog unit over your Pikmin and the extremely dull, drawn out dialogue scenes with your new companions back at the base. But once I got into the swing of things I had a blast. This is probably my new favorite Pikmin game. Thereâs a great mix of activities here to keep things fresh. I also really ended up liking Oatchiâs role as basically your second captain who can also serve as your tank or a rideable mount. The Dandori stuff and nighttime missions in particular show off how useful Oatchi is for your multitasking without necessarily overshadowing the Pikmin.
8/22: Never Get Tired: The Bomb the Music Industry! Story - I literally backed this on Kickstarter eight years ago (my name is in the credits!) and then never got around to watching it for no reason. Itâs on YouTube now, and Jeffâs got a new album out next week, so now feels like the perfect time to watch it. And man⌠what a great documentary. Obviously Iâm just a fan of the band, but this also really spoke to me as an artist. Jeff wanting to stick to his principles and give out his music for free and play cheap all ages shows, his discomfort over the idea of selling merch, and the struggles that come with not playing the game like that⌠It's hard. They readily admit that Jeff is an idealist, that people fight him on this stuff, that heâs missed out on some big opportunities because of these stances, and that heâs had to compromise a bit on some of these things over time. But that incredible climax with their final show, including a full opening performance of the slowly building âCampaign for a Better Next Weekendâ and the closing performance of âFuture 86â where the whole audience is singing along as the members of the band are hugging and crying⌠itâs beautiful. This may have been a band where the members had to go back to their shitty day jobs after every tour because they werenât selling out arenas, but their art meant something to people, and that makes it all worth it.
8/25: Nimona - I havenât read the original comic (yet), so I canât compare them too much, but itâs nonetheless pretty apparent that some things were softened and easy kidsâ movie jokes were added by the studio to squeeze this graphic novel for teens into a PG animated movie. Regardless, the emotional throughline hits REALLY hard, particularly the very blatant trans allegory and the climax. (Itâs no wonder Disney was afraid of this movie seeing the light of day lmao.) The animation is also very squishy and fun to watch throughout. Great movie.
8/26: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish - Spider-Verse really has done so much for animation, huh? This one was as good as everyone said. Beautiful use of stylized color and lighting throughout, and every time this movie very conspicuously shifted to different framerates for a flashy fight scene it owned. Very cute and heartwarming story, too, which thankfully gave its second act plenty of time to explore the cast and let them go on their journey, unlike a certain plumber movie that came out a few months later. Also I would let Death [redacted]
8/28: Holocure: Save the Fans! - This isn't really something I can beat, but I've been addicted to Holocure lately. I don't even watch VTubers aside from maybe seeing a funny Korone animation every now and then, this is just a really, really good freeware Vampire Survivors clone with a huge roster of varied characters to pick from.
8/31: HELLMODE (Jeff Rosenstock) - A new album from Jeff is always a major event for me. If there were any worries that he was starting to go soft at 40 (because one of the three singles off this album was a gentle acoustic piece), the frantic opening of this album put those worries to rest. The first two tracks are Jeff screaming out for help as heâs pulled in a million directions by the chaotic state of the world, a theme that becomes the thesis of the album. Iâd say it lags slightly in the middle, but overall this is another extremely well-rounded record full of bangers thatâs unapologetically Jeff, with possibly my favorite closing track heâs ever done. Favorite tracks: I WANNA BE WRONG, 3 SUMMERS
September
9/3: One Piece (live action, Season 1) - They did it. I canât believe it, but they did it. While I have my nitpicks (Usopp and Sanji donât get enough big moments to shine), this is an extremely solid and faithful adaptation of the first few arcs of One Piece with a great cast. For the most part the changes feel smart and logical, and the big emotional beats of the story are all there and executed very well. I doubted it a little in episodes 2-4, where the Orange Town and Syrup Village arcs saw some major changes to shift the action indoors, and the increased focus on the drama in favor of repeating every gag and battle from the manga 1:1 took a bit of getting used to, but by the end I was having a blast. Itâs a different take on One Piece, but it still feels like One Piece. Genuinely very excited for season 2.
9/4: Pseudoregalia - A great little N64-style 3D Metroidvania focused on platforming and very satisfying movement. I always love entries in the genre that are less prescriptive in what order you have to tackle areas in, a la Symphony of the Night or Hollow Knight, and this oneâs great in that regard. While there are a number of new moves to find, most of the map is open to you very early in the game, and smart use of your moveset can allow you to âsequence breakâ without even realizing it. (You would not believe how long I went without getting the wall run.) I do wish it had a map, but thatâs already being patched in.
9/6: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk * - Not a bad game at all, but I quickly remembered how bad I am at skating games, so like⌠eh? Not sure I have much desire to play past chapter 2. Also the soundtrack is sadly kinda hit or miss for me outside of the obvious Naganuma tunes.
9/9: The History of the Minnesota Vikings (Dorktown) - Jon Bois never misses. Even as someone who doesnât actively follow sports, Jon Bois is a master storyteller, using graphs and statistics and funny anecdotes to explore these deeply human stories. He can convey why people care so much about these teams, these people, and sports in general, and how our popular sports reflect on American culture. He could tell the story of just about any team or player in any sport and I just know Iâll come out the other side a misty-eyed fan. And what a fascinating cast of characters we have this time, with origin stories for everything from the Hail Mary pass to a Minnesota state supreme court judge to the Griddy. Nine hours well spent.
9/10: Timespinner - A fun and highly polished Metroidvania that maybe doesnât quite have enough of its own identity in its quest to replicate Symphony of the NightâŚbut also, like, this was pitched as a Symphony throwback on KickStarter in a pre-Bloodstained, pre-Hollow Knight world, so I canât really blame âem! Stopping time to avoid boss attacks is fun, the pixel art is gorgeous, and I liked the dark science fantasy story about warring empires and meddling with time a lot more than I thought I would - lore journal text dumps and all.
9/14: The Decay of Sam & Cat (Quinton Reviews) - All the stuff at the end with Matt Bennett (the actor who played Robbie on Victorious and Sam & Cat) in this was really good and sweet. Itâs that kind of thing that makes these videos feel like theyâre still worthwhile on some level. But the padding and the things Quinton chooses to spend the colossal runtime on does drive me more and more insane with each passing Nick sitcom video. I donât know how much longer he can keep this schtick up. I hope heâs able to move on to other things before too terribly long instead of continuing to extend this âminiseries.â
9/19: Marvelâs Spider-Man: Miles Morales - AKA Insomniacâs Marvelâs Spider-Man 1.5. Itâs fun for the same reasons Peterâs first game was fun. I had a good time swinging around New York again in preparation for the sequel, and thereâs a lot of cute stuff with Miles becoming Harlemâs neighborhood hero, but WOW did the Underground v. Roxxon conflict fall flat for me.
9/20: I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson - I understand so many posts now.
9/25: Spider-Man (2002) (rewatch) - Itâs you whoâs out, Gobby! OUT OF YOUR MIND!
9/25: Futurama (Season 8) - I was ready to be a hater, recalling the fact that Futurama has already had three âperfect endingsâ with the show getting a little weaker with every revival. Then I watched the first new episode on a whim and thought it wasnât bad, so I was like, eh, sure, Iâll watch the rest. Overall Hulurama is hit or miss. There are chuckles to be had, and it sure as hell beats modern Simpsons, but almost every episode is either a belated take on an overplayed Topical Issue (the pandemic, Amazon, cancel culture, etc.) or a direct sequel to an old episode people liked. Or both! Itâs also really noticeable that certain voice actors sound way older - Billy West is struggling with the Fry voice in particular, and it hurts his comedic timing. But just when all hope seemed lost after the nigh-incomprehensible toy-themed anthology episode, possibly the worst episode of the entire series⌠the last episode, where the Planet Express crew explores whether or not the universe could be a simulation, was really, really solid. Great note to end on to make me not regret my time with this season as a whole.
9/26: Spider-Man 2 (2004) (rewatch) - Once the GOAT, always the GOAT.
9/27: Spider-Man 3 (rewatch) - Revisiting this movie for the first time since I saw it in theaters⌠itâs not bad. Itâs fine! It continues to have the heart and sincerity that make the first two movies work. Itâs just not as concise with three villains vying for the spotlight, but I also wouldnât cut any of them, necessarily. I guess Eddie/Venom would be the easiest, but Peter getting the black suit and giving in to his resentment feels too central to cut. (Yes, even with Emo Peter becoming a meme.)
9/28: Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake - I wasnât really sure what to expect with this one, especially since I was never really a fan of the genderbend episodes in the original show. (At the time they mostly just felt like an excuse to crank up the teen romance stuff to 11.) But MAN. This was a fantastic coda to the original series. It made me care about Fionna and Cake and their friends as their own characters separate from their original counterparts, it gave the Simon/Betty arc a much more satisfying (if no less bittersweet) resolution than the original finale had time to do, and it even managed to be a multiverse story that didnât make me roll my eyes in 2023. A+ all around. Makes me wanna rewatch the original show again. [spoiler: I did]
9/29: Meanwhile (aivi & surasshu) - Itâs been a whole decadeâthey were busy with, you know, all the music in Steven Universe, among other thingsâbut we finally have a new aivi & surasshu album! Their chiptune/piano fusion style is familiar, but theyâve definitely grown as composers in subtle ways. Favorite track: Time Travel
October
10/1: This is Financial Advice (Folding Ideas) - A lot of the nitty gritty finance law stuff turned into white noise for me, but still, great video. I had no idea that the GameStop stock craze devolved into this bizarre cult that thinks theyâre going to crash the global economy and rise from the ashes as the new kings with the value of their GME stocks. Glad this video exists to try and balance out the narrative.
10/5: Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon DLC - Good ideas, absurdly frustrating and tedious execution. Full thoughts here.
10/10: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (rewatch) - I didnât plan this, but very fitting that I would end up rewatching this on 10/10.
10/12: Half-Life Alyx but the Gnome is Self-Aware (wayneradiotv) - ha he! (Seriously though, that finale was a fucking masterpiece. The RTVS crew has an incredible knack for using the framing device of video game livestreams to blur the lines between comedy and horror, or ironic anti-humor and complete sincerity. Iâve never seen anything else like this.)
10/15: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - Not sure how much I can say that hasnât already been said. The most visually creative movie Iâve ever seen, grounded by some really excellent storytelling about Miles (and now Gwen) thatâs probably better than his actual comics. But it also does feel like itâs about to end and then the movie just keeps going like ten times over lmao. Canât wait to watch this a second time on a better TV.
10/20: Sonic Superstars - A mostly really solid and fun 2D Sonic game thatâs unfortunately dragged down by an extremely hodgepodge soundtrack and some overly drawn out boss fights. I spent HOURS trying to beat the final boss of the bonus scenario (which is required for the true ending in this one) before giving up. Really a shame that thatâs the note Iâm leaving the game on, because I otherwise enjoyed it, but ah well. More thoughts here.
10/27: Marvelâs Spider-Man 2 - Another good Spider-Man game from Insomniac. Liked the story more than the one in Miles Morales, but maybe not as much as the first game. Extensive thoughts here.
10/28: Venom - Was in the mood for more Venom after the game. As expected this was not a very good movie, but the dynamic between Eddie and Venom made it a fun watch. Tom Hardy is constantly about to shit his pants in this movie. Itâs great.
10/28: Venom: Let There Be Carnage - I had a way better time with this one. Is this a good movie? No. But it cranks the insanity of the first movie up to 11. Goofy as fuck in an extremely watchable way.
November
11/5: Pluto - An absolutely masterful series that anyone interested in sci-fi needs to watch. The anime adaptation was great, and I immediately understand why people whoâve read the manga speak so highly of it. Really makes me want to get into Astro Boy more, and also read some of Urasawaâs other works.
11/18: Scott Pilgrim Takes Off - Wow, just wow. When news of a Scott Pilgrim anime broke I was cautiously curious to see if weâd get a more direct adaptation of the comics, and instead it veered off in the exact opposite direction in the best way possible. This is almost entirely a different story, one thatâs in conversation with the previous versions (sometimes in very meta ways), and I think itâs really valuable to see OâMalley revisiting these characters with new things to say about them. The major story divergence gives us a chance to examine the characters from a new angle - particularly Ramona, whoâs the real protagonist of this version, and the evil exes, who completely steal the show. This was a great reminder of why I fell in love with this series as a teenager. I now genuinely hope we get more Scott Pilgrim.
11/22: Void Rivals (Issues #1 - #6) - The first arc of the new Robert Kirkman series that kicked off Skyboundâs new âEnergon Universeâ is now complete, and Iâm left thinking Void Rivals is⌠okay? I thought the first issue was a decent (if not particularly original) sci-fi comic with an appealing art style, which just so happens to also briefly have a Transformer in it so there can be a Big Surprise. And the series still hasnât quite shaken that feeling to me. Itâs an okay sci-fi series that arbitrarily dedicates a couple of pages of every issue to something from Transformers, but Iâm not really sure what the shared universe stuff adds to Void Rivals, or what Void Rivals adds to Transformers and GI Joe. I guess weâll have to wait and see.
11/22: Journey to EPCOT Center: A Symphonic History (Defunctland) - Yeah, gotta be honest, I only got halfway through this one. It seems like Kevin just 1) really wanted to push himself creatively and 2) make a love letter to Epcot, and while I respect that, I think it suffers as a historical documentary. Itâs Fantasia but for the creation of Epcot. That might be very impressive on a technical level, but it feels more like a piece of Disney propaganda than prior Defunctland videos due to a lack of context and nuance.Â
11/24: Aperture Desk Job - A short, sweet, and funny little tech demo for my new Steam Deck set in the Portal universe. More effort was definitely put into this than was strictly necessary.
11/26: ESCHATOS - I am not good at bullet hell games, but I enjoy them from time to time and I really love this oneâs FM synth soundtrack, so I picked it up on a whim in the Steam sale. I only beat it on Easy, but still, I had a lot of fun with it! Itâs straightforward but very flashy, with the camera dynamically zooming around from set piece to set piece at ridiculous speeds and each level segueing directly into the next. The lack of a powerup system on the main mode in favor of just needing to know when to use your different shot types makes it feel very approachable.
11/27: Lunistice - A great little 3D platformer with a good soundtrack that I had fun hunting down all the secrets in. This is an easy recommendation for fans of games like Kirby or Klonoa - whimsical games set in colorful dream worlds where the underlying story can get a bit more somber. (Although the story in this one is mostly told through mildly cryptic lore dumps, so your mileage there may vary.)
11/28: Spark the Electric Jester 2 - The leap from 2D to 3D here is impressive, but this is very clearly a rough draft for Spark 3. Very, very fun Sonic-style 3D platforming, but the combat is lacking and the storytelling is just kinda bad. More extensive thoughts on this and the above two games here.
December
12/2: Fortnite (Chapter 4) - This was my first full chapter of Fortnite, after having been roped into the game by the siren songs of Zero Build mode and Goku during Chapter 3. This means itâs harder for me to compare this chapter to previous ones, but still, Fortnite remains a genuinely very well made Battle Royale shooter thatâs a blast with friends. If I have any complaint about this Chapter, itâs that they would regularly introduce zany ideas and then slowly reel them back in, whether it was the Augment system or the increasingly mundane movement items. It also felt like it was a little too easy to get the perfect loadout in every match, meaning the final showdown would almost always be against players with Slurp Juice and gold shotguns. And I missed the smaller mid-season map updates of Chapter 3. But overall I still had a really good time, and look forward to playing more for the foreseeable future.
12/4: Plagiarism and You(Tube) (HBomberguy) - This will get written off by many as âYouTuber drama,â but this really is an excellent video essay that feels like the kick in the pants that YouTube needs. If video essayists are gonna be a major source of information for so many, then they gotta have standards. I also think it does a good job of highlighting the people that have been plagiarized and trying to drive more attention their way in an attempt to right those wrongs.
12/6: Transformers (Skybound comic) - We only got the first three issues of this in 2023, but I just HAVE to say something about how incredible this series is here. Daniel Warren Johnson is knocking it out of the park. This is the new bar for Transformers. The hand-inked art is extremely dynamic and full of character, and the story is using the familiar beats of G1 Transformers but doing very new things with them. You can tell this from the very first page, but the emotional scene of Optimus accidentally crushing a deer in the forest and realizing how fragile life is on Earth sealed the deal for me. And yet in the very same comics Optimus can do suplexes and clotheslines and lord knows how many other wrestling moves on Decepticons, and it doesnât feel like tonal whiplash? These comics just fucking rule, and anyone with even the slightest interest in Transformers should be reading them.
12/8: What We Do in the Shadows (Season 5) - [spoilers] WWDITS has very much settled into being a status quo show. Every season has its own little arc where one or two things change to keep things interesting, but then everything returns to normal by the end. Guillermo finally becoming a vampire, only to become a human again in the end, might just be the most egregious example of this yet. But also⌠the showâs still really funny? And I continue to be happy that Kristen Schaal has stuck around as a series regular as the Guide. So itâs hard to complain. I could see the show running out of steam over the next few seasons, but itâs still hitting for me right now.
12/12: Pony Island - Finally got around to this since the trailer for the sequel dropped. I feel like playing this years later in a post-Inscryption world where Pony Island is a known quantity kind of lessens its impact, but still, itâs a fun and funny puzzle game where you try to hack your way out of a possessed arcade machine. Iâm not sure I found it particularly scary, but Iâm not sure itâs supposed to be? The way the game messes with you during the Asmodeus âboss fightâ was probably the highlight for me. I also like being able to say things like âThe part where you have to not kill Jesus was so hard. I kept getting terrible butterfly patterns.â
12/16: Breaking Bad VR but the AI is Self-Aware (wayneradiotv) - As always, Wayne and co.âs commitment to the bit is unrivaled. This kind of got interpreted as just a way to troll HLVRAI fans, but so many moments in this genuinely made me laugh out loud.
12/18: Soul of Sovereignty Prelude - As someone who would list Cucumber Quest as a big creative influence, I was naturally very excited for this first chapter of GGDGâs new visual novel. Their mentality of both scaling things back in terms of labor while also going more shamelessly self-indulgent in terms of storytelling after burning out on making webcomics has really spoken to me, and WOW, the end result of that new process of theirs is shaping up to be something really special. The art and music are sparse but extremely evocative, giving you the rough sketch of the world and letting your mind fill in the rest. The story blends literary high fantasy vibes with the style of fantasy seen in â90s JRPGs (you can definitely tell this came from an idea for an RPG), but rather than constantly winking at the audience and making self-aware video game references it plays these storytelling ideas extremely sincerely, giving them real dramatic weight while still indulging in fun tropes to their fullest extent. While itâs a far cry from their most famous work with much more mature content, GGDG always excels at creating characters and worlds that immediately grab me. I canât wait for the rest.
12/18: Barbie - Iâm only⌠what, five months late for the whole Barbenheimer thing? Perfect timing. Anyway! On the one hand, I get the critiques saying that this movie is just a major corporation funding a self-aware feminist critique of their own product as a marketing ploy. And I kinda agree with that. And the movie is a little too long, and I donât really know what to think of the way the Barbie/Ken conflict plays out. Anthony asked me to summarize what the story ended up being about, and I had no idea what to even say. But also⌠I did still like the movie? We donât get a lot of cartoonish, absurdist, fourth wall breaking comedies like this anymore, and this is a good one of those. Also the whole cast is great, the set design is kind of stunning, and the cinematography is consistently appealing. I wouldnât say itâs a revolutionary work of feminist filmmaking by any stretch, but itâs a good comedy movie.
12/21: Dr. Stone: New World - Man, Dr. Stone is great. Iâve said this many times, but I just love that this series uses all the trappings of shounen that would normally be used to hype up the protagonist learning a new move to instead hype up things like the protagonist building a loom or a hot air balloon. Itâs shounen Bill Nye. I didnât completely love everything about the Treasure Island arc this season, but it all built towards a really fun climax with a lot of satisfying turnabouts where the heroes use their ingenuity to just barely win.
12/23: The History of Mike Tysonâs Punch-Out World Records (Summoning Salt) - Truly one of my favorite Summoning Salt videos ever, even with how repetitive Punch-Out can get to watch. Itâs just so hard to beat âand that runner⌠was me.â
12/24: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - What more can be said that hasnât already been said? Itâs the best and most creative 2D Mario game since the â90s. The only real flaws are that itâs a little easy, the Search Party stages are annoying in singleplayer, and I wish that every boss prior to the final boss wasnât just some form of Bowser Jr. fight. But those arenât nearly enough to drag the whole experience down. It was a blast.
12/24: Do a Powerbomb! - Got this from Anthony as a birthday present. This is the previous series by the creative team currently doing the new Transformers comics I was gushing about a few entries ago. Even with the high bar set by those comics, Do a Powerbomb! exceeded my expectations. Holy shit. An absolutely entrancing fantasy wrestling miniseries full of dynamic, energetic action and tons of heart. These comics where a guy wrestles a giant talking orangutan almost made me cry. Twice. An instant favorite.
12/25: Adventure Time (rewatch) - We ended up finishing our rewatch of Adventure Time (the main series, anyway) on my 30th birthday, which feels appropriate. I already kinda knew this, but this rewatch has truly confirmed that Adventure Time is my favorite TV series of all time. The entire show is even better on a full series rewatch. In hindsight, even parts that annoyed me when they aired end up being important parts of the beautiful tapestry that is this series. The many low points of Finnâs adolescent love life are important stepping stones in his growth as a person, which leaves him in an extremely satisfying place by the end. Jake having kids didnât get to be a huge status quo change because they grew up instantly, but then they did a bunch of fun episodes about Jakeâs relationships with his adult children that deepened him as a character. And most of the big lore questions they kept teasing over the years (âWhereâd the humans go?â âWho are Finnâs parents?â âWhenâs Finn gonna get a robot arm?â etc.) ended up getting satisfying and creative answers, because the show left itself the room to figure those things out later. This is a truly special, one-of-a-kind series, one that lasted nearly 300 episodes and yet still seems like it was over too soon. And yes, I did in fact cry during the final montage, like I knew I would. I will always cherish this show with all of my heart.
12/25: Olive the Other Reindeer (rewatch) - Havenât seen this one since I was a kid! It was a favorite of mine back then, and while it might not be quite as funny as I remember itâs still very cute, with a 2D/3D hybrid art style that remains very unique and appealing. As an adult I can also appreciate the cast they got for this, with like half the cast of Futurama bolstered by guests like Michael Stipe from REM and The Sopranosâ Joe Pantoliano.
12/26: Guillermo Del Toroâs Pinocchio - Anthony and I capped off our Christmas with the most jolly and festive stop motion movie of all! Jokes aside, man, what a beautiful movie. The animation is immaculate, and we really just donât get childrenâs animated films like this anymore. Ones that overtly feature real world politics and religion and so many other dark themes in a way that doesnât talk down to kids or sugarcoat things. This one hits hard. We need more movies like this.
12/31: Oppenheimer - This was an interesting one. Despite being three hours, the way that first hour jumps around in time makes it feel like Oppenheimer is constantly being propelled forward through life at a breakneck pace, swept up by the rising tide of nationalism in spite of his personal left wing politics, never really reflecting on what heâs doing until itâs too late. Then when heâs no longer useful to the empire, heâs chewed up and spat out, only to eventually be honored as a national hero as a symbolic gesture. Itâs a compelling story. However, Iâm a little torn on how certain aspects of history were framed. Does the abstraction of the bombings detract from the true weight of those events, in favor of sympathizing with the man who built the bomb? Or is it clever a way to show how the realities of the war were compartmentalized away by people who were complicit in its most heinous acts of violence? One minute a bunch of physicists are talking theory, thousands of miles away from the theaters of war, and the next theyâve killed 200,000 people. So which is it? Eh, probably somewhere in the middle, I guess. But I liked it overall.
12/31: Kirbyâs Return to Dream Land Deluxe - Iâve been really surprised by how good this rerelease is. It kind of flew under the radar for me. I liked the original game, but at the time it also almost felt like the New Super Mario Bros. of Kirby. It was a straightforward throwback game where you went through a grass world, then a desert world, then a water world, etc., and also they added four player co-op. But returning to this one after the kinda mid Star Allies has made me appreciate just how solid RtDL is as a Kirby game. I really like the updated graphics, too - yes, even the new cel shaded outlines around the characters - even though I didnât think it looked that great in screenshots. Also the two new copy abilities (Sand and Mecha) are fun, the minigame collection is shockingly fleshed out to the point that they couldâve sold it as a standalone eShop game, the collectible character masks are fun, and the new epilogue mode where you play as Magolor is one of the coolest bonus modes theyâve ever done. This is a top tier Kirby remake any fan of the series should check out.

Why does the intro end with Jayce and not the sisters?
Pardon my shitty screenshots. I know I already made a post about the weird things in the intro, but there's even more that I didn't include in that post, and most of it is weird as HELL stuff with Jayce. This whole intro sequence has been weird as hell and I love it.
(I'll put it here since I'm not going to mention it later, but Ekko's first scene in the intro has his shadow as a clock ticking counterclockwise and I love it, but I won't talk about it again since we all pretty much know what that means.)
Last season's intro ended with our two lead women at each other's throats. That's no surprise. The whole show is about them. This one, though, ends with Jayce, a supporting member of the main cast. Matter of fact, he shows up a lot in this intro.
In my other post, I mentioned how his scene in the intro is eerily reminiscent of the moment he met Mel (other than the Council trial) when she shined a flashlight in his and Viktor's eyes in the hallway.
Could this be an indicator that he is once again meeting someone new who will change his life forever? Or could it be a reintroduction to someone he already knows? It could easily be Mel again, maybe after she's discovered and learned to control her magic? It seems like she wasn't aware of her powers until now. Considering how much the animators love to compare Mel with Viktor, it could just as easily be Viktor after he's gone full Machine Herald. They've already met again in the commune, but maybe they'll meet again when Viktor is more mechanical and Jayce is more... how do I put it politely... sane.
The light in front of Jayce's hand appears twice more, but something tells me it's a different light. Has the light evolved or is it a different light altogether?
This comes right after Mel on the lounge chair looking at the black rose and right before Viktor putting on the mask (we'll get to that). It is SO much brighter than before, less like a flashlight and more like a spotlight. Jayce's arm is more outstretched, too. It's less reminiscent of the hallway and more reminiscent of the moment he stepped onstage for the Progress Day speech. Bright, burning spotlights that he flinched at. Arm outstretched not only to block the light, but to wave at an audience.
The light and pose when he ends the intro also has these qualities.
I know it's a reach, but nothing is ever fucking reaching with this goddamned show.
So what does this mean?? Is it symbolic of the presence of magic in his life? Once a light in the dark, the path to success -- now burning, all-consuming? Is this another hubris metaphor??? I'm so tired of hubris metaphors. Let Man become God!
Seriously, what do you guys make of this? Because I have no clue. I have negative clues. Everything I see only opens new questions.
Okay, on to the Jayvik amalgam. :D
Who. The fuck. Is this.
Two pics since the camera rotates a bit and idk if the slightly different angle helps at all.
If you look at it from far away, the eyebrow ridge and nose resemble Jayce. If you peer closer, the eyebrow ridge looks more like Viktor's, but the nose still seems like Jayce. This person also looks to be at a healthy weight and has thick thighs, also qualities that Viktor unfortunately does possess. I want to say the hand also looks like Jayce's, but it's hard to tell. The lighting also makes it hard to determine their skin color. All in all, everything about this scene would suggest that the figure is Viktor except for the figure itself.
My gut instinct had me thinking it was Jayce the very first time I saw this intro, but then Viktor showed up with his blanket and mask later in the song and has been in said blanket for most of the show. The lack of purple limbs doesn't mean anything since the sisters also lost their tattoos, Mel lost her gold, and Ekko lost his face paint too.
And then we have this shot. Whose hand is that? NOT FUCKING VIKTOR'S.
That's Jayce's hand putting Viktor's mask on him. The hand looks like it fits naturally on Viktor's arm.
This could mean that Viktor will be wearing his mask because of Jayce. Partly in a "you see me as a villain, so a villain I will be" kind of way, but maybe also in a self-fulfilling time loops sort of way.
It's obvious that we're not supposed to be able to tell Viktor and Jayce apart in this intro. I even saw someone suggest that the animators made a whole new 3D model that was a mix of them both to be able to get the effect across. They might have also made one for Viktor with Jayce's hand.
This is basically saying that Jayce and Viktor are so deeply intertwined that they can't even be told apart. That's really ironic considering how different and divided they are right now. Could this imply that they'll end up back on the same side by the end?
#jayce this season makes me crazy#he's almost taking up more brain space than viktor at this point and I can't be having that#and he hasn't even had much screen time#what do you mean this post is Jayvik propaganda#it's clear as day that they cannot exist without each other#no that doesn't sound weird at all#arcane intro#arcane theory#arcane speculation#arcane season 2#arcane#jayce talis#viktor arcane#viktor#jayvik#analysis#citrus post
