Is it just me or does it seem like in episode 6, about 12 minuts inn when Monty is telling the crew about his suposed ghost friend Gladis, he seems a bit mad but also sad? Like when he says "and, unlike Edwin, Gladys doesn`t have anyone else" he pauses, then adds a "just me". I think he was actaly talking about himself. Maybe he was still hurt by Edwin not wanting him the way he wanted him to. Maybe Monty had actally thought about leaving Ester for Edwin and the others, but when Edwin regject him, he might have felt as though that was no longer an option for him. Maybe he was envius of Edwin having others to rely on. Also, at first i didnt get why he continued helping Ester when he cleary wantet to drag it out. It might be because, he failed his purpose to woo Edwin, thats the whole reason he was turned human. So he wanted to prove himself useful still.
