So thanks to the incredibly strange fandom overlap in fnf mods the idea of an OMORI + The Mandela Catalogue AU has been presented to me and oh my god can we talk about that for a moment?

The idea of OMORI + TMC is horrifying in its on special way because think about it- if an alternate was in Sunny’s house he would have no idea, he’d just assume it was a hallucination and not question it which simultaneously gives him an advantage and makes him the perfect victim depending on how soon Sunny figures out what’s going on

And god. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO BASIL? He’s also a very very good candidate for an alternate encounter, one could pretend to be Sunny or Polly or his parents even- is Basil composed enough to know not to listen to it? Can he handle the faces of people he cares about telling him truths beyond man’s comprehension? Probably not but I’d like to see him try!!!

I think Hero would probably also be attacked by an alternate, it would turn into Mari and tell him it was his fault and he should feel guilty and it would most certainly work if not for Kel living in same house (a situation that could get messy very quickly)

If Aubrey encountered an alternate it would probably try to take advantage of her more religious side, Aubrey has family troubles but those tend to manifest in her more as anger then fear, if an alternate wanted to scare her to the point of break it would twist something she found comfort in… maybe it would take the form of the preacher? But that makes me wonder what might happen to other notably religious characters in faraway … like the Baker family, so many horrible things could happen

All together I think an omori TMC au would be so fucked up and very interesting to explore and someone write it before I do <- definitely going to write something

pulp - i first listened to separations and it might be my favorite, but i recommend beginning with different class

club 8 - really love their album the friend i once had

eiafuawn - they only have one album but it's so good in my opinion

ethel cain - i really like her 2022 release preacher's daughter! haven't checked out the rest yet

alex g - ignore whatever he's tiktok famous for. i personally love beach music, then from there moved on to listen to house of sugar. trick is also great. im obsessed with watching his live performances

blur - i really enjoy 13, parklife, and their self-titled

casiopea - they have a live album called mint jams so i started from there and then put all their other songs on shuffle

carissa's weird - they have this really good (but depressing) album called songs about leaving

Omori theory/discussion (SPOILERS!)

Only read if you’ve beat the game! Spoilers under the cut!

Aight so, I have a theory that everything that happens in HEADSPACE (White space and Black space) is semi real. I think that headspace is a world that one can travel to in their dreams. Before the events In Omori, it’s implied in-game that Sunny visited Headspace/day dreamed often, but it wasn’t until after Mari’s death that he practically lives in his dreams.  Reasons why I think the HEADSPACE world is semi real: when you go to the cemetery in the IRL world, there is a statue you can interact with that says this:

I believe that this “better life” can be traveled to in dreams. In WHITE SPACE, Sunny dreams about a “better life” where he can play with the idealized version of his friends without having to confront his guilt about the TRUTH.  Religion is very prevalent in the IRL world. This gateway statue can also be seen at the lake in the secret hideout. There are judgmental statues that are placed around the town and the church be kinda sus too ngl. I don’t have a screenshot but I think two? days before you have to move, the old beardy man in the cemetery says something along the lines of, “the spirits here are howling, they are getting ready to welcome somebody/someone will be joining them soon.” which I think is foreshadowing what happens to Basil and/or Sunny in the Bad/Neutral endings. The Preacher also states that he feels something ominous coming from the cemetery on that same day. I kinda got off topic there lol but another reason why I think what happens in HEADSPACE is semi real is bc in the Neutral ending: If Sunny picks up the knife on the kitchen counter before heading to bed, stabbing himself in WHITE SPACE will cause the resulting effects to impact his physical body. The answering machine continuously rings as Sunny lays on the bed, clutching a knife into his bleeding chest. (taken from the wiki).  This theory kinda ties into my other theory regarding Mari. Throughout the game, the Egret orchid flowers are often associated with Mari and are prevalent in certain scenes and areas. The flower’s meaning is “My thoughts will follow you into your dreams.” I took this to mean that Sunny will never forget Mari, even in his dreams AND/OR Mari’s soul stayed with Sunny and he can visit her in his dreams. The main reason why I think Mari’s soul stayed with Sunny in his dreams is after he comes back to WHITE SPACE and Omori travels alone with Mari in the foggy ocean area. 

One thing that kinda disproves this theory tho is the Coral Tree that you meet in the DEEP WELL area. The tree answers questions and states that Omori is a human who dreams about an ideal world where his sister can never die, “you gave your sister an undying soul...she will always be the one who leads you to the truth.” (paraphrased but more or less what it says)  I have seen some theories and some stuff in-game that implies Sunny has difficulty distinguishing reality and dreams, which is why you see some of those fantasies leak into the IRL world? So much stuff to pick and analyze through TT_TT This wasn’t a very organized theory/analysis but I hope this at least got your brain thinking! There’s a lot more to be discussed about Omori and many more things to analyze, I just havent seen anyone talk about the religious stuff in FARAWAY town so I at least wanted to start a conversation about it!
