Thinking about my desire for a mistaken identity time travel fic where Obito and Sasuke get tossed into the warring states, but bc Sasuke looks like an Izuna clone and Obito for some reason gets the wild hair look back, they keep being mistaken for Madara and Izuna.

Notably, they keep being mistaken for Madara and Izuna as they are in the middle of attempting to beat the ever-loving shit out of eachother.

And because Obito likes causing problems for Madara and Sasuke shrimply does not give a fuck and might even appreciate the fake identity alibi, they do nothing to actually deny the mistaken identity. Obito actually encourages it, usually by loudly agreeing with whoever shouts "omg its Uchiha Madara" as he lights shit on fire.

Anything to cause the real Madara more problem, right? Karma, bitch aa

ANYWAYS. Thinking about all of the above again w the context of my "Kakashi is related to and bears a resemblance to Tobirama" agenda thats been steadily growing in like. Actually, I think almost every Kakashi fic Ive written so far (oops)

Maybe I want Kakashi in this now. Maybe I'm also thinking about Tenzo, who got the same "oh for some strange reason my hair is longer now" treatment as Obito and with the Mokuton, can now be mistake as Hashirama by those who have never seen him. Or even people who have seen him but logically assume he's wearing a henge.

There's only one known man with the power of Mokuton-- why would the ever believe it wasn't Hashirama (unless they were close enough to the man to truly doubt it on a personal level)

I have no real ideas for an overarching plot, but like. Obito, Sasuke, Kakashi and Tenzo mistaken identity time travel my beloved,,

Kakashi and Tenzo traveled + landed together and Obito and Sasuke did the same so neither group is aware of the other

(Kakashi and Obito eventually figure it out bc of the shared eye connection I think)

But in the mean time they actually keep managing to avoid each other bc they'll hear rumors ab "Uchiha Madara" being spotted in the town over (Obito continues to be very loud about it very on purpose) and then avoid going there, while Sasuke hears the same, figures its Obito, and sprints over to try and bash his face in

Obito finally eventually gets cornered by Kakashi, Tenzo, and Sasuke and gets his shit rocked fr fr send tweet

Sasuke and Kakashi bonding moment(s) where we tackle the uhh. Everything. Of canon. And Sasuke gives Kakashi a crumb of respect back or smthn

Idk but I just want to see Sasuke call him sensei, don't ask me how we'd get there

Meanwhile when they're finally like, exposed or whatever there's just SUCH a mess there to be had

I'm choosing Uchiha Hikaku as my first contact bc I love him dearly and think he serves as good middleground between ranks of importance and relevance

So like. Picture this.

You are Hikaku. You're sent out to investigate some rumors about Madara and Izuna fucking shit up and causing a general mess some ways away. A henge, a slander campaign, the real Madara-sama is sure.

You get there and find 3 people fighting.

(Obito, Kakashi and Tenzo's first interaction. It's tense. They may all come from the final battle, after Obito changed his mind, but there were a lot of things left unsaid and also they all probably just wanna beat the shit out of eachother anyways. Things happen, things are said, a fight is had)

Two of them bear a passing resemblance to Madara and Tobirama respectively, and the 3rd has the look of a Senju to him.

Ok. So, Senju slander campaign? Gone... wrong, he'd assume by the fact that they were all fighting.

You then recognize that the fake Madara has mismatched eyes (!!!! What the fuck !!! Culturally significant thing there !! Was he born like that? Was it a transplant?)

And the fake Tobirama(?) has a whole stolen sharingan he seems to be ACTIVLEY using (WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!! SOUND THE ALARMS!!!!! BLOODLINE THIEF ALERT !!!!!!!!)

You debate between just watching or entering the fight, but then the fake Tobirama makes some sort of reference to his sharingan eye belonging to the fake Madara's.

All thoughts come to a screeching halt.

Ok. So. Gonna get involved now.

There's a clear side here (Uchiha vs potential Senju) Hikaku can not leave his clanmate to die, and he doesn't yet know how he might have been involved in the slander campaign so it's honestly best to put this guy in his pocket and bring him back to Madara anyways

So Hikaku enters the battle, everyone makes appropriate shocked pikachu faces bc no one noticed him and aw shit it's gonna get more complicated, cool, awesome, great

(Also note; Hikaku became the eventual Uchiha head after Madara's defection so there's also a "oh shit no way" reaction from Obito specifically who knows this information. And also maybe Kakashi who I imagine knows a lot of Konoha's history and politics)

Battle continues, Tenzo uses Mokuton, Hikaku gets appropriately freaked the FUCK out at the idea of another mokuton user

Then Sasuke comes crashing out of nowhere , yay !!!

(Kakashi and Tenzo, who did not know Sasuke was here yet and are only seeing him for the first time, make more surprised pikachu faces)

Sasuke, who... possibly knew Kakashi and Tenzo were around and may have been avoiding them, wanting to signal that for now at least they were all on the same side (against Obito) nods to Kakashi specifically and gives a tense and sort of stilted, "sensei."

SO. HIKAKU IS KIND OF GOING THROUGH IT OVER HERE NOW.

Sasuke is a dead fucking wringer for Izuna in the way that only a direct relation can be. I'm talking they could absoloutley pass for twins kind of relation. Worst of all, they look around the same age (Sasuke is only a few years younger)

Hikaku is no longer fighting with a strange Uchiha against Senju agents he's now fighting with an Uchiha against another Uchiha (who's a dead wringer for his clan heir !!!!) He does not know who to believe or what side to exist on.

(Had this false Izuna called the fake Tobirama sensei? Oh god—)

Things happen, whether they lose or escape I don't know but it ends with an incredibly confused and concerned Hikaku returning to the Uchiha clan compound with tales of bloodline theft, another mokuton user, and horrifically— A possible sibling, lost and raised by the senju in secret.

Yeah. So. Madara won't react well to that. Madara won't react well to that at all.

(Izuna won't either, in the slightest. Does... does he have a twin...? Did he have a twin once, lost too early for their parents to bear to tell them...?)

It's incredibly hard for the Senju to deny any involvement when Hikaku has sharingan perfect memories to share of the fake-Izuna (Sasuke, they had called him Sasuke) standing side by side with a man who resembles Tobirama and another who is very fucking clearly using Mokuton. And that's "very fucking clearly using mokuton" seen by someone who has SEEN mokuton used in battle. Multiple times. He will not mistake it for anything else.

OMG, HashiMada shipper in 2024? Hello! Just want to say, when I'm into Naruto fandom, what I know, this ship is not too popular, but I always love them... And Gaara/Lee, never ship them, but it's interesting, thanks for opening this new door for me...

I have always shipped Gaara/Naruto (but mostly one sided) because my #1 ship will always be Naruto/Sasuke. My 2nd fav ship is Kakashi/Maito Gai (please don't laugh at me, I know, Kakashi/Obito is way more popular, but I just really love Gai as character, too). My 3rd fav ship is....HashiMada, of course ...

Can, I ask your top 5 (or top 3) fav Naruto characters and your top 5 (or top 3) fav moments?

Hey! Sorry it took me so long to answer...

But yeah, I always loved HashiMada. I mean, how can you see their Romeo & Juliet backstory and Madara's insane hyperfixation on Hashirama and come away with anything else. Madara got Hashirama's face on his titty ffs. I'm surprised they are comparatively unpopular in the fandom. On AO3 they are in the top ships of the Naruto tag, but compared to ObiKaka or KakaIru they aren't that prominent. Even TobiMada seems a bit more popular than them (which I don't understand, could never get into that ship).

GaaLee is also something I got into relatively recently, never considered it much beforehand. Saw some great fanart of them and read some fics by a_gay_poster and somehow got hooked. They honestly have a great dynamic in canon. Gaara is used to hurting the people around him and Lee has an insane pain tollerance and a good enough heart and a tickle of insanity that he doesn't hold Gaara's numerous murder attempts against him. Although he doesn't forgive blindly either. Something about the two finding together despite how much they hurt each other is very intriguing. Lee was the first person to break through Gaara's sand armor, his defence, and make him experience pain. Something completely new for Gaara, just how Lee won't break that easily in his grip or even if he breaks, he keeps moving forward regardless of the pain. A different kind of monster/beast you could say. I also mainly eyed Gaara and Naruto as a ship, would even say it's somewhat one-sidedly canon, but tbf I don't like Naruto that much as the story progresses and I was never fully convinced that Naruto would return Gaara's feelings. Feels to me like he would always be 2nd best after Sasuke. GaaLee has much more for me to get into there.

KakaGai surprised me too. I always liked them as friends, but some fanart and fanfics made me revisit canon and Konoha Shinden full-on converted me. I love how Gai is a constant at Kakashi's side no matter how traumatic his life becomes and how lost in PTSD and depression he becomes and when Gai is the one who tries to sacrifice himself, Kakashi is there by his side. They are also both so suicidal in their own way. Both think they have to proof something by sacrificing themselves, the best thing they can ever do for someone they care about is die for them. They think they need to break themselves to be of worth because that's all they ever learned. Both feel like they have to atone for their fathers in different ways and feel guilty. And yet they are forced to survive until the end and grow old together. Also, personally, I love Gai's journey from thinking punishing his body, literally burning it up to reach unparalleled power, is the only way to show his worth, even teaching it Lee. But then his immense physical strength is taken from him, his glorious death is taken from him and he learns to live with it and find joy in the ordinary things. He is worthy to be by Kakashi's side even when he can't physically beat him, they don't need to surpass each other.

Well, I could go on and on about these two... 😅 ObiKaka doesn't do it for me at all. Sure, they are important for each other, lots of angst there, but I only really like Obito when he's around Madara. Otherwise I find him quite annoying.

Gai vs Madara (always makes me really emotional in the manga, particularly the inclusion of his backstory)

Gaara vs Rock Lee (perfect showcase of Lee's character and his relationship with Gai...also best example of Gai's philosophy being hurtful despite all the good intentions)

Naruto vs Neji (probably the moment where I felt Naruto's "never give up" spirit the most and I also liked Neji here even more than in his fight against Hinata; too bad Naruto never kept his promise to him...)

Ahaha, I've been called to the hearing so fast, eh? I don't even have a lawyer. Jokes aside, thank you for the ask!

Alright, in order:

10% rule: I know there are two of them, but the ideas are different, I promise! I based this off of the thing we learned in Botany. The 10% rule which states that only 10% of the energy from one trophic level (like plants) is passed on to the next level (like herbivores), while the rest is lost as heat, waste, or used by the organism itself. And my stupid brain got another idea.

I haven't worked out all the parts yet, but it follows Naruto and Sasuke, where Naruto is emotionally burnt out by giving too much of himself and Sasuke's been hurt by the world. Naruto's always been the one to carry the emotional load, always overcompensating, but never receiving the same in return. Sasuke's tired, and he's developed a a certain numbness to giving and receiving love - a poorly written metaphor for this rule of ecology, like the energy lost at each trophic level.

The story is just about the realization that love is all about balance. That even though some energy is lost in the process, the ten percent they choose to give can build something glorious, something sustaining, a garden worth growing. Where you realize that love doesn't drain you, but can fuel you in the right proportions.

dressed to disaster: This is actually a Boy Meets World Shory fic, where it's based off the fact that I don't know what the story is about, but that I have a first line, which is: You'd think that after causing disasters and being a disaster himself, Shawn would know how you dress to one.

I have no clue where to go with this one, I wrote a bit more about him attending Cory's wedding, and going somewhere with it. I'm entertaining time travel, but nothing solid yet.

THOUGH, this story has another branch where it's SasuNaru, where I thought about how after someone makes a comment about how Naruto always dresses like a homeless street urchin + how he always wears orange, do you not know another color, Uzumaki? He's used to it, but when they mention it's weird how Sasuke hangs out with him as Sasuke is always in fashionable clothes (and rich, in this story) it's a very stark difference.

The comment nags at him, and so then, Naruto starts to panic. Especially as he somehow - for plots reasons - starts to think that Sasuke will never see him as a romantic partner, if Naruto doesn't dress up like it. And so, he ends up on Ino's door, wailing his little heart out, and she and Sakura decide to help him. Woo-hoo, everyone's love to hate it makeover montage.

And Naruto hates it from the very beginning. He's used to baggy clothes and these are all form fitting and the jeans fucking itch and the shoes hurt. And it's such a pain to make sure they don't get ruined. And, well, while that crisis is going on, Sasuke's jealous because Naruto's dressing up for somebody and he doesn't know who and whoever made Naruto think he had to change himself was going to die—

And so, idiots in love, everyone's favorite. Very cliché, I know. But Pinterest is the reason it happened. Blame it. Don't come for me, I will cry.

shory and no sailors: I have nothing to defend myself with. Literally a crackfic idea because ever since I heard the ship name I thought about sailors on shores, leaving the dock. And well, I just wrote that down. God knows what I'll do with it.

serpents in eden's embrace: Ooh, so this one is interesting. Because it is FNAF W.I.P and I have two different-but-also-the-same-thing-kinda idea for it.

a) The Bite of 83 does happen, but it doesn't happen to Michael's little brother, but instead, the brother of an OC who needs therapy. This changes everything. Michael is thrown for a shock, as they had been planning it and now he's dealing with the guilt that his brother would have died. This sets off the domino chain as Michael will do anything to keep his siblings alive, even if it means turning a blind eye to missing children's reports and all evidence pointing towards their own basement.

b) Michael gets thrown back into his past body, where he swears to save everyone. But day by day, his priorities dwindle. For one, William is suddenly so much more nicer now that Michael is becoming the golden son, and his tasks falter. So maybe he can't save all the kids. What does it matter? Until the last tackles down to Henry's daughter and his own siblings. I just wanted to delve into the toxic household. When people do back in time, when we wish that we, ourselves good go back in time - because for me, reading Time Travel Fix-It is about taking canon to the back, sure; but also fulfilling that urge to go back in time and fix all my past mistakes, to try to prove myself that if I could just go back, everything would be fine - and the truth is, we romanticize it. The situation sucked, but now that you're out of that situation or grown from it, you can see all the ways you would do it now. But, if you're placed back into it, wouldn't you crumble? I wanted to explore that aspect.

the ten percent rule: Not to be confused with 10% rule, I didn't even realize I named it the same thing until I was taking screenshots.

Three ideas for this:

a) The deep seated trauma that makes up the behavior to give just enough effort to maintain relationships—friendships, romantic relationships, or family bonds—but never truly committing beyond 10% of themselves.

b) My parents own saying which is: always give just 10% more than what’s expected of you, and you’ll be successful - causes 100% more burnout.

c) 10 percent rule is a part of an underground code used by criminals, and people of the black market. It's a law, only revealing 10% of the truth to keep people guessing or safe. Which makes it worse because as you try to unravel a mystery, the rule means that nothing is ever as it seems—every truth has a hidden layer, and every person holds something back.

we're fated to unravel, love: Most self-indulgent. Magic AU! Where Sasuke and Naruto are in an arranged marriage and have been married for a decade. In this, Sasuke is the leader of a clan and is known for his battle/ destructive magic (shut up, no one talk about the name) and his strategies.

He's married to Naruto, the person everyone thinks it just wasting life way, tinkering with paper and runes. Naruto's an inventor, and he makes magic do what he wants to do basically. But, Sasuke thinks Naruto is childish and naive due to his sunny disposition and brash manners - and due to the public poisoning his view, his own advisors thinking that the marriage is to “put Naruto on a leash” - and since the idiot doesn't talk to his fucking husband, or spend time with him, the misunderstanding stays.

Naruto's hurt. Because he wasn't expecting love, but he thought he could have friendship. He feels lost amongst the ugly glares and even uglier rumors. And just stays away tinkering with his inventions, feeling hurt with every moment that passes, with every dismissing word that passes Sasuke's lips. He gives back good as he gets at first, but that doesn't do anything but worsen the rumors. And Naruto doesn't want deranged-fangirl assassins to kill him on a mission to “save their Sasuke-kun” so he withers away. Closing himself off. Losing hope. And thinking himself foolish to believe that there could be love in the first place. After all, isn't it the hopeless romantics that carry the most hope.

And then a war happens. And a bunch of people die. And they win nearly, by the skin of their teeth, thanks to Naruto's inventions - and oh, look, Sasuke's paying attention now - but it's a pyrrhic victory. So, Naruto creates a seal that'll send them two years back into the past, just before the war begins, so they can be prepared and stop it. Only, something goes wrong, and they get send back ten years instead of one, to their six month wedding anniversary. Naruto is disheveled but resolves to make the situation work, focused on stopping the war.

And Sasuke, being the whipper than whipped cream fucker that he is, is just besotted by his husband, and wants to fix everything. Because fuck the war, he wants Naruto to love him. Cue Naruto just interpreting everything Sasuke's doing as "part of his efforts for the war" even though it makes no sense.

Like, oh, Sasuke's hanging out with him now in his messy workplace? Well, it must be to plan about the war.

Sasuke offers to make Naruto dinner? Naruto, squinting at the strange ingredients on the counter, assumes it’s a working model for cooking up a strategy for the war. Sasuke buys Naruto flowers? Naruto, deep in thought, believes they represent the nations Sasuke wants to ally with.

Sasuke rubs Naruto’s shoulders, trying to ease his stress? Naruto, staring into the distance, mutters about how Sasuke’s clearly practicing pressure points for war interrogation techniques.

Sasuke literally pins Naruto to the wall, about to kiss him. Naruto, thinking he’s about to hear a covert mission briefing, goes, “Oh, is this an intimidation technique. Cause I have a device that'll work.”

Sasuke proposes to Naruto in the middle of a crowded square, flowers and a ring in hand. Naruto, completely stone-faced, whispers, “Ah, I see. You're making me the figurehead of a new war alliance."

I'M SORRY, THIS WAS LONGER THAN EXPECTED. YOUR HONOR, I'M A FOOL. I DEMAND MY LAWYER.

okay so first of all, for dttb/my Izuna In Canon timetravel fic one of my alternate ideas was to have Izuna wake up as Sasuke, which was… a special kind of fun :) I decided to go with the fic as it is now, but I did think about it a lot back then. So the following drabble is in part inspired by my considerations back then.

I also love pain, so here you go with a lil Izuna POV for “what if Madara and Izuna wake up in the bodies of dead children during the massacre?” under the Read More. It totally didn’t take me down a rabbit hole of “omg that would be so neat” and I absolutely didn’t spend a whole lot of time on it

Izuna wakes up to, unsurprisingly, find himself bleeding from a deep wound in his chest and fierce pain radiating through his entire body, making his thoughts hazy. The latter might explain why his chakra stores feel utterly parched, his hands when he tries to instinctively reach for a weapon are… tiny, and he’s… surrounded by bodies? Very small bodies. Izuna wipes at his face and succeeds in dragging himself into a mostly upright position. Then he startles badly because there’s someone else in the room. “Izuna. Izuna!” The kid—a girl—hissing his name while grabbing his shoulders painfully tight is unfamiliar beyond the typical Uchiha features, but the way she says his name… The way her eyes spin into a Sharingan and then further into a dizzying and achingly familiar Mangekyou pattern. “Nii-san?” Izuna rasps against all hope, spattering flecks of blood across the girl’s pale face. “Yes,” she says and presses one of her hands right atop of the stab wound on Izuna’s chest. “I… something went wrong. This wasn’t supposed to happen, I—you weren’t supposed to be still hurt.” The hand begins to glow a dim green, and almost immediately Izuna can breathe a little easier. Izuna has a lot of things to say, most of which include shouting, questions, and shouting questions, but the girl’s—no, Nii-san’s… this is going to be so confusing—Madara’s chakra is nowhere near the usual hurricane flood and draining frightfully fast even as Izuna feels less and less like he’s still dying. “That’s enough, stop,” he demands and follows it up by shoving Madara away. They stare at each other. Izuna now, however small he is, is still nearly a head taller than the girl’s body Madara has somehow ended up in. “...perhaps my imouto can explain the situation a bit more,” Izuna eventually says, the corners of his mouth twitching despite everything. He knows this is Madara, he knows that they’re both alive somewhere they shouldn’t be; but together, what can they not figure out? What can they not do? The girl—Madara huffs. “Well, you died, and then—” The room is suddenly filled with shinobi, strangers, in bone-white animal masks. It’s only the rapid flick of a single handsign from Madara—so quick it looks nearly accidental—that stops Izuna from burning everything around the two of them with a Katon. Follow. There’s some irony in this; usually it’s Izuna telling his brother to wait before turning to decisive action, to gather more intel before striking.  But Izuna has a feeling Madara knows far more about this situation, far more about these strangers-maybe-enemies than he does at the moment, and he trusts him. For now, he’ll play the part of a small and injured child just like Madara will.

Okay, ngl, the first thing going through my mind after reading your prompt was “WHAT IF Madara… but reincarnated into a tiny girl?”  + Izuna immediately and gleefully regarding himself as an older brother because of that :D 

putting both of them into the bodies of killed children and using that to put some constraints on the power they can wield at first (Izuna being injured, tiny chakra stores, etc.) is a neat way to introduce some tension and also force them to interact with the current Konoha, as imo if they had all their original power they might just decide to flatten the entire Village immediately.

You also mentioned “other Founders” but consider: there are very few conveniently killed Senju or Uzumaki descendants around for certain people to be reincarnated into.

omg hiiii welcome to the fandom! im glad you like my blog, dont feel bad about like-spamming. and to answer your question, i do know of some fics that are critical of konoha/the shinobi system, but theyre all sasuke-centric in case that's not ur thing. theyre not all necessarily of the revolutionary variety, but the underlying calls for justice are consistently present

the first one i always rec in these situations is A Lack of Wisdom. it's complete, the characterization is great even though it's technically an SI OC fic, the plot developments are unique and rational

looking for forgiveness (i ran into your madness) is a great exploration of a genin era sasuke who's slowly becoming unhinged as the true nature of konoha becomes painfully obvious to him, yet disappointingly unnoticed by those around him

Kizuna Hikari is an SNS (sasunarusasu) fic that diverges after chapter 699. it has a very empathetic take on sasuke and sakura in particular

TakaGang and onepieceofharry have both written multiple sasuke-centric/anti-konoha fics, theyre all definitely worth reading imo

Funny you reblog Naruto I was working on my shikanaru fic, I wanna get back into it I crave Shikanaru soft content and Shikamaru saving Naruto from thoughts of Sasuke as in hes missing him after he left is my favorite thing about them. Realistically Shikamaru knows he cant just take it off Narutos mind but he can damn sure get him far enough away from it to enjoy life with being tormented by the mer thought of Sasuke. He can make it easy but he cant make it go away completely and that's such a sweet thing for him to do non-romantic or otherwise platonic him being there for Naruto will make Naruto think about him and that's where I plant of gay trans seeds of destruction that Naruto will want to be be around Shikamaru cause he makes him feel safe and Shikamaru being a Chunin meaning he doesnt have time for Naruto all the time, they cant hang out all the time but hes going to try and soak up all of Shikamaru's time and ppl around them are gonna be like

omg this was a lot, im reading this after a really long day and this just put a big smile on my face!! i fear i can't address everything here but i love the idea of shikamaru getting closer to naruto bit by bit while he tries his best to take sasuke out of naruto's mind, its hard work but he doesn't mind (surprisingly). he knows it won't happen in a day or two but every time naruto smiles at something he says he thinks its worth it!! i also like to think of naruto slowly falling in love without even knowing, because he had all these loud and confusing feelings about sakura and then sasuke, and what he feels for shikamaru is so different, its so calm, like the waters in a lake compared to the storm that he feels when he thinks about sasuke. and even though he's always been hyperactive he finds himself craving the calmness and softness he only seems to get when he's with shikamaru....

also about shikamaru and sasuke, i see their dynamic as so complicated, but in simple terms i just don't think shika likes him, he tolerates him because he's someone naruto loves (even as a friend) (and im basing this kn how i see them in boruto). but he just can't understand him, and i think they would have a lot to talk about and shika is a fair guy, he would give him a chance, but I think they would never be friends fr, he likes suigetsu tho, he's fun and there's a lot of trans and queer talk to have!!

So, I've been reading some of your blogs recently on sns dynamics and homosexuality etc. and I thought I would ask your thoughts on a certain trope that I read in a fic recently. Ostensibly a travel fic but the beginning covers some pretty dark mental health and sexual health topics from Narutos point of view. Kinda disturbing. But anyway, it's the first in a line of fics I've read more recently where Naruto is portrayed as being the smaller, feminine, 'twink' of the duo and Sasuke being described and acting as the masc, physically broader and bigger. And there were comments made in the fics about how this is somehow linked to canon internalised homophobia? Idk. I guess I don't see sns in this way, and just wanted your thoughts on that dynamic 🤔

OMG ME NEITHER!!! i can't believe someone else actually agrees with me on that too. personally i don't like it cuz i think their love story is lame and they're not good parents to naruto. minato is worse for obvious reasons but my unpopular opinion is i think kushina isn't a great parent either. when she's talking to baby naruto she's mentioning all the things they she wants him to know of, and she mentions girls 😭 like lady he isn't even 5 minutes old!! and she says this world is made of men and women and you'll eventually notice girls...but knowing he did NOT notice girls 🤭 just makes me wonder how she'd react to him being in love with sasuke. and i don't think she'd react positively. (another unpopular opinion) even before that scene she was talking really traditionally and i feel like she'd also put expectations on naruto and want him to behave exactly as she wants him to and she won't accept anything else. i feel like she'd be just as bad as everyone else who puts expectations on him already. and his story with sasuke would end in tragedy even if his parents were alive, bc the way she was talking only about girls as if there's no other option...yeah she's definitely one of THOSE parents. another thing i don't like is when she said everything and minato didn't bc she's the mOtHer and kishi has every woman's entire personality bc a mother and a wife but that's the narrative writing, not her. he even made her give up her dream of becoming the first female hokage 😭 cuz women sacrificing their dreams for dumbass kids is fine bc their dreams obviously aren't as important as men's 🙄 anyway ppl always make her and minato the "good parents" in sns fics and make sasuke's parents to be the "bad" ones as if little miss red hot jalapeno wasn't the one talking to naruto about girls only 🤨 i need then to lay off on sasuke's parents fr...i feel like the only reason they might disapprove is bc they're really traditional and want to uphold their family name...but they clearly don't have any specific expectations for sasuke, if fugaku telling sasuke to walk his own path, a different path from his brother itachi, is anything to go by. so we not only have evidence that kushina would most likely not approve of naruto being gay but we also know sasuke's parents are more accepting of him being different. case closed. this is similar to when in fics they make naruto the nice kind angel and sasuke the jerk for no reason 😭 they truly think sasuke and his family are just jerks naturally and naruto and his family are sweet and accepting, just bc they're louder and more extroverted...it's like how ppl treat introverts irl, they think we hate ppl and are rude for no reason. anyway that got kinda off topic but yeah that's why i don't personally like minakushi. i feel like most ppl just have a bias towards them bc they're naruto's parents and everyone has a soft spot for the MCs parents. especially if they're dead and the Mc never got to be with them. what's your reason?

Omg I'm so sorry, I'm not sure how long this msg has been in my inbox as I haven't gotten on Tumblr in a hot minute. Thank you so much!! I try to include a lot of narrative themes and imagery descriptors because they are what I love reading. Writing this story has been honestly therapeutic for me; I try to approach trauma in a way that feels realistic and messy. I've loved these characters since the tender age of 10-11 and have such nostalgia for them given I sort of grew up alongside them. (I'll date myself here: I used to get Shonen Jump delivered to my house in middle school bc not everything was available fully on my family's dial up internet.💀) I feel that Kishimoto did an incredible job setting up an immersive world with a diverse cast that also allows for a lot of varied character dynamics. It helps with characterization a lot when you have so much to work with already! Exploring those in the BP is the perfect setup as it's got room for extrapolation and filling in the blanks, so to speak.

Anyways I really appreciate the kind words. This story started as just a way for me to read the fic I wanted to read, to be honest. 😂 I've been very influenced by all of the great sasusaku fanfiction that already exists (Ghosts, Home is Where the Heart Is, Of Fate and the Unexpected, Unspoken, Samsara, etc.). There's so much already out there, but it's been quite a ride to throw my hat into the ring. I'm all invested in reader feedback and becoming a better writer in the process now, which is something I never expected. It's been so rewarding in that, as well as realizing someday I may want to write my own fiction with original characters and all that jazz. (I'll have to finish LG first, obviously, though I do have some original stories I add to now and then.)

Izuna would be fucking insufferable actually. Like, he was proven right on virtually every level— Hashirama betrayed Madara w a literal backstab, Tobirama proved he could and would fuck over the Uchiha even in death, the village in general was the downfall of the Uchiha.

Even his brothers pipe dream of "creating a safe for the children" (which he never really got that invested in or believed could become real) is proven wrong w the village and its record of fucking Mr. 6 year old chunin Kakashi and 11 year old ANBU itachi over there.

Izuna kind of sucks as a guy actually, like, he's good enough for warring states standards person wise— but "warring states standard shinobi" and "modern day standard shinobi" are two very, very different things. There was not much room for mercy or kindness from the era Izuna was from, nor teamwork, and Izuna is used to either being in charge or being directly opposed with little inbetween. I'd say Izuna is out here living his best life but he's really not and is super fucking mad ab everything actually, which just makes him worse.

He's on a trip first to find his brother and find out wtf happened— then when he learns exactly what happened, on a trip to beat the ass of everyone he can get his fucking hands on

He's SO mad about it and has literally no information ab what's going on at all bc hes locked in a fucking tube !!

Bonus points if Orochimaru doesn't even specifically know who he is

They unearthed him w the rest of the founders on a whim but bc no one really requested him specifically, the body just kinda sat there and eventually got mixed in w the rest of the Uchiha corpses, till Orochimaru requests an Uchiha corpse and they shrug and send him over

He still has Madara's eyes too (left alone either by oversight / or bc they decided not to pull them before he got mixed in w the other bodies, who had by then already gotten scooped of their eyes so they assumed he'd already been harvested)

Ok but like. No one even tells him what happened/where he is/that madara made the village. Why would anyone?? The only one Izuna sees regularly is Orochimaru, and he doesn't know those facts would matter??

Izuna doesn't even know what Konoha IS, he isn't gonna recognize the name

From Izuna's perspective, he died in his bed and then BOOM. Tank time.

Orochimaru might tell him it's been some years since his death (thinking he died in the massacre) and even if Izuna doesn't believe him bc like, enemy, enemy territory, he sure as fuck probably won't be thinking "Ah yes it's been decades since my death and my brother went against my dying wishes to make that village"

Tho he might get nervous and start picking up those cues when he sees the tech

Oro mentions offhand that the Uchiha were all killed and Izuna immediatley assumes the Senju won the war and loses it

Ok actually but like. Suigetsu's shape-shifting but bc Izuna has a fire chalra nature, make it liquid fire shape-shifting. Fuckin, fire mermaid Izuna. He has an awful time retaining his form and actually for the first chunk of time, him being in that tube is genuinley just for the best. He keeps turning into liquid fire with no real solid body and can't put himself back together for hours.

Izuna hears his brother is still alive and running Akatsuki and is so down to clown till he realizes THATS NOT HIS FUCKING BROTHER HOW DARE YOU USE HIS NAME

Anyways oh my god Izuna on team Taka,,

He and Sasuke would be SUCH a dynamic actually, they look alike so much?? Sasuke doesn't recognize him but he's clearly a close relation, so there's some mystery there. Sasuke is like super shaken by finding a member of his clan and Izuna, by that point aware that apparently the rest of his clan is dead, is sticking to him like GLUE. Sasuke is bitchy little brother coded and Izuna understands this is probably karma bc he is also bitchy little brother coded

They probably clash a lot, especially bc both are expecting to be in charge here, but ultimately I think they'd get along better than Sasuke does most people, and there's also that bonus vulnerability of like. Izuna is an older Uchiha boy who's trying to brother him (with a noticeably different brother-ing style to Itachi too) and Sasuke has been alone for so, so long.

Sasuke accidentally calls him nii-san then promptly has several break downs about it

Suigetsu and Izuna either get along ALARMINGLY well or they hate eachother. I think I wanna go with the first bc it sounds more fun. They couldn't talk to eachother in the tanks but they could still see eachother, so maybe they kind of developed some sort of code to communicate?

They are "cause problems on purpose" friends. They're also "wdym I can't kill him???" *looks of genuine confusion* buddies. They're giving Sasuke the biggest headache actually, someone stop them. If you leave them to "take care" of a problem, there will be carnage.

Also, like, Izuna literally has Suigetsu's DNA in him. That's a thing.

Mmm maybe some complex thoughts ab how Izuna has effectively become a bloodline thief against his will (the ULTIMATE taboo for shinobi from his era) and he's like, actually fucked up about it.

Running joke where they refer to each other as cousins, could be funny. They argue over who's the bastard child (it's Izuna obviously but he won't just take that title lying down)

Izuna is like, in his 20s, and Karin is around 16 or 17 at this time I think?? She definatley has a bit of a crush on him (which helps take the edge off Sasuke) but like, he's not acknowledging that beyond patting her on the head. She'll get over it eventually. (Sasuke hides behind Izuna when Karin is trying to flirt w him and Izuna absoloutley laughs at them both)

Izuna is actually really impressed w Karin's sensing abilities specifically. I think he'd be a bit on edge around her at first, bc Uzumaki -> Senju ally. But he'd quickly assume she's a deserter (he has no idea the Uzumaki are pretty much wiped out rip) and becomes cautiously chill after a minute or two (also when he first escapes, he REALLY doesn't have the luxury to pick and choose his allies. He's instantly attached to Sasuke and cautiously fond of Suigetsu, and Karin seems to have Sasuke's trust at least, so he'll keep an eye on it but otherwise trust Sasuke's judgment)

Izuna and Karin besties arc where they paint eachothers nails is a must. I love the take that Izuna is really into fashion n stuff and he and Karin should like, trade hair tips or smthn. Karin knows modern soap brands where as Izuna bought his soaps from clan vendors who no longer fucking exist, so like, it's definatley helpful.

Karin is the only one of them to have any real hint of where tf Izuna came from (tho even she doesn't have the full details) it'd be cool if she was the one to figure out more details ab his general mystery— maybe something about her chakra sensing gives her a hint as to how old he really is?? Or she finds the paper trail that hints towards the bodies being mixed up???? Idk but she deserves to have an "aha!" moment

Also Izuna's medical knowledge/standards are NOT up to modern and Karin is so mad about it, she's giving him hella lessons on first aid n shit and he's very, very interested in all this free medical knowledge

I know the least about Jugo so bear with me on this one pls— I think Izuna would find Jugo to be pretty fascinating as a person actually. He enjoys tentatively poking him with sticks, and comes to genuinley like him as a person (when he's calm) pretty quickly

Also cats love Izuna so he gets bonus points from Jugo bc of that, they can bond while petting Izuna's contracted cats or smthn idk

Yeah I really don't know much ab Jugo so that's all I have to offer sorry

Ok let's backtrack a bit, back to Orochimaru ->

Fun scene towards the very start of the fic, where Izuna still has no fucking clue what's going on, but recognizes Orochimaru as a member of the Orochi clan. He says as much, and Orochimaru has to pause.

No one's mentioned his clan to him in years. They haven't been relevant in Konoha since Orochimaru was born— even before that, they were barley relevant. Izuna should not know who they are.

(The only reason he does know is bc they had a neutral to positive relationship w the Uchiha back in the warring era, and Izuna had visited them once before)

Immediatley, Orochimaru is squinting at this guy. He's giving Danzo a ring asking who exactly he got sent over, but Danzo doesn't actually have anything to offer him??? The paperwork is a mess and there were a LOT of Uchiha. He's not registered as a shinobi tho.

Hmmmm.... ok.

Orochimaru is suddenly aware there's some kind of mystery here now, which is dangerous for Izuna. Izuna is, again, in enemy territory, and he's able to pick up on the fact that Orochimaru doesn't actually know who he is. This ofc means that HE sure as hell won't be telling him.

Maybe he bares his teeth and sarcastically says he's the second coming of Uchiha Madara (not even that big of a lie when u think ab it)

Izuna is listed in the data books as like, being equally as talented as Madara and I think we should talk ab that more actually

Then he just fucking bodies them all bc hes a nightmare actually AND on whatever special test trial edo tensei steroids they gave him

Izuna is fueled on rage and spite and he's full up on both

Imagine he gets the full story of everything that happened while he was dead too, like.

Ok so Madara goes against his EXPRESS dying wishes and makes his village. (what the fuck!!) Then backs out (yay!!) but in an awful way that effectively fucks over the entire clan for years to come (nii-san what the FUCK)

Then gets literally backstabbed by Hashirama (HE FUCKING TOLD YOU!!! WHAT DID HE FUCKING SAY!!!!!)

Then the Uchiha seem to thrive and like. Ok. He's still mad about it, but at least something... kind of nice came out of it.

THEN BOTH THE VILLAGE AND MADARA'S(?????) SCHEMES KILL THEIR ENTIRE CLAN

Izuna is SO mad at literally everyone, holy shit. The only one safe from his rage is Hikaku, god rest his poor, poor soul

Actually, I think it'd be funny if Izuna was like, indescribably extra awful mad at everyone— but then is like. Normal mad amounts at Tobirama, who was a bitch but at least didn't seem to carry on a personal fucking vendetta against the Uchiha like EVERYONE ELSE INCLUDING FUCKING MADARA FOR SOME GODDAMN REASON

Izuna is going like, "FUCK you, FUCK you, OH, EXTRA FUCK YOU—" then squints at Tobirama and goes "...fuck you." Then goes back to screaming

To be clear, Tobirama absolutely contributed to the end of the Uchiha, but like. A) it'd be funny, and B) at least his seemed slightly less on purpose than literally everyone else

There's also I think a difference of like. Izuna never expected Tobirama to suddenly turn around and be pro Uchiha

Where as everyone else (again, including his brother!!) Was like. A genuine betrayal

Tobirama fucking over the clan was never a surprise

He never pretended to be on their side (like Hashirama lowkey did)

Tobirama vs Izuna but it's them getting to relive their rivalry where as Izuna vs literally anyone else is emotionally charged as hell and filled with demented screaming
