It wasn't a normal occurrence for Declan to take his grandchildren to their doctor appointments but he was listed as someone allowed to do so. Much to his surprise, getting the toddler, who had sat slumped in his arms during the trip from the car into the office, checked in was less of a hassle than Declan was expecting. Getting the tyke to stop climbing on the waiting room chairs after Declan had sat down was a different story. For a child that had a snot fountain for a nose and complaints of an icky-icky tummy, the youngest of Declan's two grandchildren was awfully energetic so early in the morning. It was the only time available and with one parent on a business trip and the other attending a school event for their other child, it had been left up to Declan to get the ill child to the appointment.

Declan didn't mind, even if it was a challenge to wrangle the snotty little kid and keep him quiet for the rest of the people in the waiting room. Not much time went by before they were called back to the room where it was equally as difficult to keep his grandchild from rooting through the cupboards and climbing on the paper covered bed just to hear it make noise. "C'mon kid, Pops's coffee hasn't even kicked in yet... aren't you supposed to be icky-icky?" Declan asked the child as he took the small being in his arms, tugging him from standing on the bed and flipping the child upside down to dangle him, large arms wrapped around a giggling stomach just as the door opened and Declan glanced up to spot the doctor.
