Tengo muchas cosas que decir sobre Llámame por tu nombre de André Aciman que estoy abrumada. Por lo mismo me he tardado en darle una reseña.

El libro, en general, me gustó, en especial su prosa. Elio cuenta LA historia de amor de un verano que lo cambió. Lo hace ya con años de separación pero no por eso sus sentimientos y su pasión es menor. Su estilo de narrar es mucho de ‘enséñame, no me digas’. Nos muestra lo mucho que ha pensado sobre esto en sus largos párrafos llenos de preguntas y en cómo se detiene y expande hasta en los más pequeños detalles. También sus descripciones evocan a los sentidos de manera que encaja muy bien con las emociones del narrador.

Otra cosa que me gustó mucho es la cantidad de referencias literarias y culturales que hacen los personajes. Aprendí varias cosas investigándolas cuando estaba anotando el libro. Además que no se sienten de que están ahí nada más, si no que quedan con los personajes.

La mera razón por la que no le pongo un 5/5 es la cuestión del age gap. Más que nada porque el hecho de que uno de 17 años se involucre con uno de 24 no parece tener importancia para los personajes. El centro del libro es ese amor que te marcó para toda la vida y por más que se sienta como el correcto, nunca lo será. Pero yo no puedo dejar de pensar que Oliver está trabajando en su maestría y Elio va a empezar su último año de prepa.

Round Eleven: Jeremy vs Michael

Okay so. Technically Michael was the sole winner of their tickle fights for most of their friendship, however, this was mostly because he would take down Jeremy before the other boy ever got a chance to actually fight back. I feel like Michael would both know about and have The Kink (not necessarily sexually, that's just the only term that doesn't sound stupid for it lol), so he's always nervous about people tickling him because he's worried someone's gonna figure it out. So for a lot of their friendship, Jeremy believed that Michael just wasn't ticklish.

Until one day, around their sophomore year, Jeremy accidentally went for this spot on Michael's knee and the latter let out this shriek-y giggle sound and immediatelly fled the fight in his scramble to get away. And Jeremy's eyes are so wide because wtf you aren't supposed to be ticklish. But of course he has to test this out, which is when he realizes that apparently Michael Mell is unbelievably ticklish everywhere and a mess when tickled. So after that, their fights became more 50/50 (as Jeremy still loses a fuckton of them due to being a ball of ticklish nerves)

Round Twelve: Elio vs Oliver

I feel like Oliver wins most of their tickle fights unless he's purposefully letting himself fail. Elio's definitely the more ticklish of the two, which makes him more likely to lose and more determined to win. Oliver is pretty ticklish himself, but you have to catch him in the right mood or else he's good at resisting it. Early mornings are the best time for this, when he's all soft and sleepy. It'll start with Elio's fingers gently brushing his sides, and then warm, ticklish kisses on his neck and breath in his ear, and all of a sudden Elio is pinching his hips and Oliver is curling up against him and letting out these very un-Oliver like giggles. He won't fight back in the morning either, so most of Elio's wins have come from this. However, the majority of the time, no matter who instigates it, Elio is losing hard.

Round Thirteen: L vs Light

Just to start this off, I don't think that these two would engage in that many tickle fights to begin with. It does occur sometimes, but in general they're not that touchy of people. HOWEVER. When they do occur, Light is almost always the victim. L has detective advantages and can pinpoint his worst spots. He likes to catch Light off guard and wrap their chain around his other wrist before he can notice, and then he'll just casually poke along Light's frame, commenting on all of his reactions. And Light is hissing and struggling to break free and doing everything in his power not to laugh despite how scarily good L is at tickling. Also, Light has this spot on his neck that kills him every time and he cannot fight back at that point, all of his efforts are devoted to blocking off the area. L usually only loses when he hits too ticklish of a spot and Light gets hit with this bolt of energy that allows him to turn the tables.

Round Fourteen: JD vs Veronica

It's almost perfectly even between the two, they're like children about it. Both only siblings, both having never had to deal with tickle fights, both with pretty equal sensitivity. JD is more vicious in his approach, but Veronica is methodical with it and will allow herself to be taken down for a bit if it gives her time to strategize. I'd argue that JD might lose a bit more purely because he not-so-subtly enjoys the affection and will give up the fight just to get wrecked. Not that he'll ever admit to it, of course.

Round Fifteen: Nancy vs Robin

NANCY. Robin cannot hold her own in a tickle fight to save her life. She can win against Steve because he lets her and doesn't mind it, so I feel like she developed this cockiness with it that was quickly disproven when she first tried going up against Nancy. Nancy IS ticklish, don't get me wrong, but she doesn't really enjoy the sensation or the lack of control it gives her. Sometimes she's more okay with it than others, especially when Robin's the one doing it, but she can't help her body's natural fight or flight response to it. She gets mean with tickling to, going for worst spots right away and using her long nails to her advantage. And Robin, who is a mess of nervous energy to begin with, never stands a chance against her. I would argue that while sometimes Nancy will let her tickle her, if she's in the right mood, Robin can never win if it's a genuine tickle fight.

DILFiano largely came out of my evolving relationship with Call Me By Your Name. In 2018 that movie changed my entire world like nothing else has. I read the book in a single sitting…three times. My first ever “controversy” on here was condemning Lucrezia Petracca. She was 34 years old when she dated 17/18 year old Damiano. Of course I had to justify Elio and Oliver’s relationship to myself at ages 17 & 24. I wanted them to transcend the age gap.

At the time I wrote: “I'm never sure whether Call Me By Your Name is an epic story of fate and the sanctity of deep human connection or a warning about the life long damage of age gap relationships between children and adults. And it can't be both one is a form of abuse.”

Luca Guadagnino & cast marketed CMBYN as a love story, but fascinatingly the book never calls it love. Despite this, Elio is haunted by their affair for decades. So if love isn’t the powerful, driving then what is?

CMBYN may describe a once in a lifetime connection, but Andre Aciman wrote from Elio’s perspective. He’s an especially dramatic, but highly educated teenager with a sexual fixation on an adult man who he perceives as his intellectual equal. Oliver’s existence shatters Elio’s self concept as a heterosexual and he both lusts and loathes him for it. His perception of the world is distorted accordingly by Aciman. Factually, Elio and Oliver have known each other for 6 weeks and been intimate for 2. However Elio’s obsession consumes him and compels him to sexually peruse Oliver, who should resist but fails to. Maybe because Elio is beautiful, intelligent, compelling, and insistent enough that he can’t stop himself from giving in. Maybe his desperation soothes Oliver’s ego and he justifies it to himself. Either way, Oliver makes this toxic obsession material and cements himself in Elio’s mind.

It destroys Elio. Even though they’ve been casually hooking up for a <2 weeks, it feels like losing his soulmate because he’s 17. It’s a painful irony by Aciman: Oliver worries about messing him up the entire book then does. Elio thinks they have a transcendent connection, but he’s just emotionally stunted by having a sexual relationship with an man 7 years older.

In a way, y/n is Elio. She hasn’t been groomed. She’s the aggressor. But in my story she’s also a consenting adult. But does that mean her sexual fixation doesn’t distort her perception? No. Is it okay?

Elio paid attention to where Oliver showed him with one hand where he could still feel things. In his mind, he tried to memorize the area like a map but he had the feeling this was something he might forget in the heat of the moment, hopefully, Oliver would forgive him if that happened. This was an adjustment for both of them. It was a lot harder on Oliver of course but even then they barely even had the time to get used to being intimate together before the accident happened and now it felt in a way like they both had to start over from scratch.

"Why am I even surprised you still have that somehow?" Elio laughs when he notices that he has magically conjured up a lube bottle that looks familiar. One he did not remember bringing here when he moved his stuff over from the guestroom. How had he even managed to keep it all this time without being found? He continued to surprise him.

His laugh quickly turned into a moan when Oliver wasted no time and started to open him up. It had been a while so it was a bit painful but once he grazed that sweet spot he heard himself cursing in French. Guess he couldn't control the language he was speaking anymore now either. "Y-Yes." He managed to utter against Oliver's bare shoulder "Just take it slow okay? It's been a while." Way too freaking long but that no longer mattered now he was right back in Oliver his arms as if no time had passed. Oliver was losing himself in the moment, the warmth, release, intimacy with the slight danger of getting caught. Even while the Perlman's were more than understanding about Oliver and Elios love affair he was sure that the reality of seeing the older guest make their son naked and unravel and fall apart in his arms would be quite the scene. As grateful as he was about being able to be their lodger in the specially converted out house, he still felt as if he had to be on his best behaviour, as if he owed them something. Oliver wished he had not been told that he would never be able to walk again while still in the hospital. The ease of the words flew out of the doctors mouth and then left him alone with the initial shock of something he had already guessed. He was left nothing but endless hours of thinking. He went over how this new state would effect him, independence, work, friendships, relationships... there was not one satiation he could think of in his previous life that would not be altered by his disability. There was one particular subject that bought up the most questions, sexuality. Bluntly asking the doctors questions, wanting to figure out this issue. It was a devastating feeling to lose the intimate connection with Elio when he had just had a taste of that they were capable of. In the moment with Elio, tangled in one another's lust it felt like such a natural thing to do. Oliver Sucked in a deep breath as Elio grasped his member. "Yes" he nodded. It just seemed that way because of everything that had happened. "You need me?" Elio repeats looking slightly confused. It was annoying that his brain was so slow to understand the meaning of certain things. That confusion quickly changes into his eyes growing wide when he feels Oliver's hand slip underneath his waistband and take him in his hand. Fuck, fuck.

"Y-Yes very fuzzy." He mutters while his eyes briefly dart to the closed door and then back to Oliver. He has lost track of time but he couldn't have been in here for long right? Besides this was Oliver it must be safe otherwise he wouldn't do this��� Right? Either way, he can't stop his body from reacting to his touch nor can he focus on more than one thing at a time. He definitely had his entire attention. Elio can feel his cock twitching with interest and instinctively his hips push upwards wanting more. "Oliver," He whines while once again wishing he had two functioning hands and an arm that wasn't attached to an IV to pull him close.

“I’m sure you wouldn’t complain” Oliver chuckled as he drank in Elio’s need for affection. Elio’s ranting and silly behaviour made Oliver laugh softly “I don’t mind being distracting” he spoke lowly. His hand drifted down to Elio’s waist and under his shirt to feel his skin, the odd scrape could be felt but nothing serious. “I find you distracting, I think it’s just what I need right now.” Oliver internally begged that the nurses would leave them be, not walk in as Oliver was touching Elio under the covers. “Fuzzy mind hmm?” He smirked as he pulled back a little to look at Elio’s face as he slipped his hand under the waistband and cupped Elio softly in his big hand.
