I agree with this whole heartedly in support of women, but also how could be clearly half Black and also the palest woman in the entire comic run? Her father is Caucasian, but could arguably be Hispanic.
Before anyone comes at me, I know that mixed children can take on their Caucasian dna. I personally have family who are pure blooded Guatemalan and upon having children with a Caucasian had their girls birth as pale white. It's sad to see they went with that science instead of my other family member, who also had a child with a Caucasian and came out a twin of her mom, mixed Guatemalan.
These panels from The Magic Order #2, a Netflix-owned book by Mark Millar and Oliver Copiel show the backstory of Cordelia Moonstone, a main character from Image Comics partnership with the streaming serve.
Not so fun fact: The book that nearly topped the monthly best seller charts because According to what we've been told, ReedPOP quietky purchased 140,000 copies of The Magic Order #1 in exchange for Mark Millar appearing at cons These were ordered at 90% off which effected the entire economic demographic of the #1 issue and it's total sales in general. Was #1 popular? No. It was a cooperate deal.
It's honestly sad, because the art is outstanding.

“Queen Elizabeth and the King were always together. I remember one Easter, I was just knocking a ball about the golf course when I spotted them walking quietly together, totally at ease. There was a terrific sweetness about them. He had an elegance - an elegance of mind. After he died, there was a huge gap. It was a terrible loss and it was never quite the same again.”

Review: Better Man - Something Beautiful
Title: Better Man Directed by: Michael Gracey Written by: Simon Gleeson, Oliver Cole, Michael Gracey Starring: Robbie Williams, Alison Steadman, Jonno Davies, Stephen Pemberton, Kate Mulvaney, Carter J Murphy, Raechelle Banno, Frazer Hadfield Music by: Robbie Williams Choreography: Ashley Wallen Visual Effects Team: Wētā FX Visual Effects Supervisor: Luke Millar Production Design by: Joel Chang
"It might be cabaret but it's world class cabaret and I'm the fucking best at it. Fuck yourselves."
There are fair comparisons to be made between Better Man and Elton John's Rocketman. Both draw on fantastical elements to depict the experience of sudden and extreme fame. Rocketman does so through colourful, high-octance musical sequences and the image of the singer shooting up into the sky like the rocket man he sings about; Better Man is more rooted in reality but depicts its subject matter - the musician Robbie Williams - as a CGI chimpanzee.
Williams has spent his life, it seems, hiding his anxieties behind a 'cheeky monkey' persona but it is not to this that the ape-suit refers, i in his own terms Williams has always viewed himself as "unevolved" compared to those around him and it is this idea that saves the the CGI chimp from being a gimmick and makes it a unique and engaging stylistic choice. It takes all of ten minutes to get used to the CGI chimp and after that ten minutes it's difficult to imagine a human face and body in the same role and it is not so difficult to see the human being behind the chimpanzee eyes. After that ten minutes, the effect is almost invisible. It helps that none of the other characters allude to the fact that they are talking to a chimp. There is no wink and nudge; Williams' story is told with sincerity, making his presence as a chimpanzee and the film's energetic musical numbers - a Take That montage that jumps and flips around Regent Street, a delicate sequence in which he falls in love with Nicole Appleton, and an unexpectedly violent scene in which Knebworth Stadium is turned into a gladiatorial arena where Williams battles past versions of himself - seem utterly natural.
While the ups and downs of Williams' career aren't so different to sudden fame and cocaine blues depicted in many a musician's biopic, the commitment to the stylistic punt pays off totally and utterly. The schtick will - hopefully - put curious bums in cinema seats but the heart-felt sincerity in which the story is told will keep them there. Williams and director Michael Gracey took a massive risk and it absolutely works. There is a magic in Better Man, in Williams' words and Gracey's committed directing, that somehow, combined, make the emotions in the film more heartfelt and stronger than they would have been had Willimas been merely a man.
Other bits:
I've only written two reviews so far this year and they both reference Elton John and Rocketman so I think I should be expecting a cheque in the post soon
Good evening everybody! My name is Robbie Williams. This is my band, and for the next two hours, YOUR ASS IS MINE!" - bruh
all the song and dance sequences were outstanding - it needs to be said, it needs to be SHOUTED
that She's the One number was so beautiful
again, the absolute commitment to the bit that this film did is really what made it for me. I kept expecting, after his rehab, that he'd turn into a man, but I like the insinuation that even after sorting himself out, Robbie Williams still sees himself as a chimpanzee
"I'm gonna be fucking famous!" "Shut up, you tit." "Oh, fuck off Glenn."
Alex Godfrey's review is brilliant and captures everything that was so brilliant about the movie: https://www.empireonline.com/movies/reviews/better-man/
I wasn't a huge fan of Robbie Williams when I went to see this - I liked some of his songs but his peak as a musician was somewhat before my time - I enjoy music biopics and this one caught my interest as a bold and cool way to tell this kind of story, but consider me converted I'm absolutely sold on his music now
the Relight My Fire setting was so good and effective in conveying how overwhelming it must be as a musician to face that scale of an audience and venue
I realise that it is probably not his story to tell, but I would have liked if the film had been more explicit bout the fact that Nicole had to get an abortion because her producer wouldn't let her have a baby. It made me think of Sinéad O'Connor, who refused to get an abortion and how she is probably a minority among the many women who have been treated this way. I think it would have been a good opportunity to at least shine a light on the issue in a conversation or argument about it, even if they didn't want to dwell on it for the entire film
fucking Oasis

Time to vote for the next villain! Bet you didn’t know I read comics! Or maybe you did because I make fun of Ennis and Millar a lot, and poke fun at Moore frequently. Here’s some weird-ass comic villains I could talk about and also some Ennis and Moore villains I can rant about!
1. A child-eating monster from a horror comic. Pretty straight forward, very fucked up.
2. A racist yellow peril villain that DC keeps bringing back. He started as a giant yellow egg with a prehensile mustache and got worse from there.
3. Fat spineless alien TV show host who likes to harass the X-Men and who desperately needs to be in a movie.
4. The ineffectual satanist sorcerer who tried to make Harry Potter the antichrist. Moore’s stand in for Aleister Crowley.
5. Ancient bacteria colony who invented racism against Mutants.
6. Distant relative of that Other Doom. He is a dentist who wishes to conquer the tri-state area.
7. An anime pastiche demonic one-shot villain that Ghost Rider fought. Has caused much debate between dorks online.
8. The most major antagonist in Preacher, and one of the biggest butt monkeys in comic book history.
9. The ultimate villain of Preacher. Something tells me Garth Ennis isn’t a fan of religion!
10. Hey you know how Ennis loves the Punisher and vigilantism and guns? What if he rolled all of that love into an anti-heroic God-mode Gary Stu who reads like a six year old’s idea of a cool character?

Super Rugby Pacific Highlanders v Reds Result Round Nine Clash
Everything that happened at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane as the Queensland Reds defeated the Highlanders. To take against the Reds, the Highlanders have selected a considerably rotated squad. All Blacks prop Ethan de Groot, who started last week’s loss to the Rebels off the bench, is back in the starting lineup. Lock Oliver Haig comes into the loose forwards at No. 6, while Captain Billy Harmon switches from openside flanker to No. 8.
James Arscott and Connor Garden-Bachop have taken Folau Fakatava’s and Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens’ places on the bench and in the starting lineup, respectively. Ajay Faleafaga moves to the bench and is replaced by Cameron Millar in the No. 10 shirt. Jonah Lowe is injured and Tanielu Tele’a returns to centre field.
Highlanders 1-15: Ethan de Groot, Ricky Jackson, Saula Ma’u, Hugo Plummer, Pari Pari Parkinson, Oliver Haig, Sean Withy, Billy Harmon (c), James Arscott, Cameron Millar, Jona Nareki, Sam Gilbert, Tanielu Tele’a, Timoci Tavatavanawai, Connor Garden-Bachop.
Reserves: Henry Bell, Daniel Lienert-Brown, Rohan Wingham, Will Stodart, Nikora Broughton, Folau Fakatava, Ajay Faleafaga, Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens.
Based in Dunedin, the Highlanders are a professional rugby union team from New Zealand that plays in Super Rugby. The Otago, North Otago, and Southland unions are represented on the squad, which was established in 1996 to represent the lower South Island in the recently established Super 12 tournament. The Scottish immigrants who established the areas of Otago, North Otago, and Southland in the 1840s and 1850s are credited with giving rise to the epithet “Highlanders.”
Throughout the 2011 Super Rugby season, Carisbrook in Dunedin served as their home field; on occasion, they also played at Invercargill and Queenstown. Forsyth Barr Stadium in University Plaza, Carisbrook’s successor, opened in time for the 2011 Rugby World Cup but after Super Rugby season, and the Highlanders moved in for the 2012 campaign. News for The Daily Rugby
They placed seventh at the end of the first season, then after winning just three of eleven games, they ended last in the second season. However, in the 1998, 1999 and 2000 seasons they qualified for semi-finals; hosted the 1999 tournament final against rival South Island team the Crusaders. They lost the game 24–19, and the Crusaders eliminated them once more the next year, this time in the semi-final. They would only place in the top four once again in the next fifteen seasons, in 2002. However, they defeated the Hurricanes at Westpac Stadium in 2015 to win the Super Rugby title.
Aaron Smith, a current Highlander, has participated in 176 games with the club in record time, while 47 other players have played in more than 50 games. With 866 lifetime points, Lima Sopoaga leads the Highlanders in scoring, while Waisake Naholo leads with 45 career tries. Billy Harmon is their current captain, while Clarke Dermody is their coach.
The Super 12 included five New Zealand clubs when the Highlanders franchise was established. The North Otago, Otago, and Southland provincial rugby unions came together to become the Highlanders, a franchise that originally played on the lower South Island of New Zealand and was known as the Otago Highlanders.
Gordon Hunter was the coach and John Leslie was the captain of the 1996 squad. On March 3, 1996, they played their debut Super 12 game at Carisbrook against the Queensland Reds, whom they beat 57–17. The Highlanders were leading the competition and unbeaten after three games. But the next week, they lost to Northern Transvaal 59–29 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in South Africa. They concluded the season seventh on the table, winning just two more games that season—at Carisbrook against Natal and at Lancaster Park against the Canterbury Crusaders.
The Highlanders’ least successful season to date was 1997. They only secured three victories and came in last in the competition. Taine Randell was now their captain, while Glenn Ross served as their coach. Among their eight losses that season was a 75-43 setback against Natal in Durban. Gavin Lawless scored 50 points for Natal, setting a tournament record.Tony Gilbert took over as coach after their 1997 season ended in last place.
