au timelines pt. 2
so, i managed to confuse myself while writing one of my fics, so i decided to make a post about the timeline of all of my au families. the little number in the () is how old they would be in that year.
there are two parts because i have too many au families and had to split it up. here's part one.

i will talk dads best friend!Jamie with you for ages!! You kept that thought going so well i swear it was like you were inside my brain!!
But continuing with these thoughts…hearing Jamie’s truck pull into your driveway was nothing new at this point, but you were still getting used to hearing it pull up when the rest of your family wasn’t home. The first few times it happened you immediately hit him with “my dad isn’t home.” thinking he was here to work on some project or fix some appliance you hadn’t even know was broken. But an easy laugh had rolled off his tongue and he lifted up a bag filled with your favorite things, so you stepped aside and let him in. He was gone before your parents got home, his (and your) ice cream spoon had been cleaned and put away, your pajamas had been switched out any lingering trace of Jamie had been expunged. And in a way, this had become a new routine for the both of you. So when weekly family night rolled around, you excused yourself from it blaming your absence on “too much homework, I’ll never get everything done in time if I go with you guys.” No one blinked an eye, wishing you good luck before heading out of the door. And before long, the familiar rumble was heard down the street, growing louder until it cut off in your driveway. You were opening the door before Jamie was even out of his truck, inviting him in and shutting the door before any of the other neighbors could spare a second glance. And everything was tame for the most part, Jamie was fun to have around - cracking perfectly timed jokes, and giving you the latest gossip he’d heard. Everything was tame…until it wasn’t. The both of you had migrated into the kitchen, Jamie had wanted a glass of water, you had wanted more ice cream and it was after you had bent down to grab the ice cream, that you noticed the contents of the freezer had slightly melted. “Jamie can you come look at the freezer, I think something’s wrong” slips out of your mouth and suddenly there he was; body pressed against you from behind, one hand gripping the edge of the freezer and the other finding purchase on your hip as he peered into the freezer. But before either of you could say anything, the front door was unlocking, and voices were calling out to you and asking if that was Jamie’s truck in the driveway. Jamie lingered for a second, squeezing your hip before pulling away and greeting your mother and chirping your father about him broken freezer - leaving you grasping onto the freezer still and breathing unsteadily
UGH oh my god your mind. i love it. i could do this for forever MORE DBF!JAMIE | gimme ur thoughts/questions! x
in a similar vein, your parents go on vacation for a week for their anniversary or whatever and you're left home alone, and obviously you're a big girl, you can handle the house by yourself, but they've asked jamie to check in on you and god, you're not complaining, it’s jamie, you know?
after the freezer incident he’d only stuck around long enough to pass along the number of a guy who could fix the fridge, leaving you flustered in the kitchen with a knowing smile and a bashful “See you later, kid,”, and you’d lied easily to your parents about how you’d apparently called jamie over to save interrupting family night, and that was the end of that (at least like, until you find yourself alone in your bed with the memory of the weight of him pressed into you.).
his checking in is pretty inconsequential, at first. he knows you’re an adult and don’t really need him, despite how your parents worry a little. likewise, despite the honey-thick tension between you, jamie doesn’t make a move, neither of you do. it feels a little like he’s at your house on business, so deeply entrusted by your parents to look out for you.
so, the first night you’re alone, he stops by on his way home from work (he’s like a handyman, freelance carpenter or something in this AU in my head lmao), only for a minute or two to make sure you’re all good, the freezer hasn’t died again, to give you his number so you can call if you actually need him. maybe he skips stopping by altogether the second night. instead he texts everything good over there?, and he tries really hard not to read into the little heart emoji you tack onto the end of the quick alive and well you send back.
on the third night, though, he’s already getting takeout for himself, and he barely thinks before he gets extra to drop off for you and he’s not sure exactly what you like so he gets extra extra so there’s more chance you like at least one of the dishes (this is a kindness he doesn’t think twice about— just does it, like it’s the obvious thing to do). when you open the door and he’s holding two fat bags of food, you invite him in: he weakly objects for self control’s sake, but a casual “I don’t wanna eat alone,” turns him quickly, because he doesn’t fully know it yet but god, he’d do anything he could to give you what you want.
it’s not until after dinner is eaten and the throwaway ‘how was your day?’ conversation ends, that you both feel it, how you’ve got all night together, no interruptions or sense of impending end. you’ve got all week, if you want it. you’re on opposite ends of the couch and he looks so big, leaning back with his thighs spread, hands balled up in his lap. you’re spit balling questions playfully when it comes from you, maybe out of left field but you have to know, “What would’ve happened if my parents hadn’t gotten home when they did the other night?” and he goes a bit quiet, smiles shyly and he looks at the TV while he says “I probably would’ve bent you over the counter, honestly. would’a made you my girl right there.” and ugh you’re a goner
#this au is my everything rn ugh#thoughts/contributions/questions welcome cos god knows it's all im thinking about :)#jamie oleksiak#jamie oleksiak imagine#dbf!jamie#ff.asks#long post#ff.doc

Miss You - J. Oleksiak
Prompt: “I can’t stop thinking about you”
Tagging: @thebookofmags @bestestbenn @denis-scorianov @chicagoblackhawkslover96 @princessphilly @itsbadgerbadgermushroom @romanseggy @danglesnipecelly @texanstarslove
A/N: this is the last of my Valentine’s Day prompt blurbs, so I hope you all enjoy it! I love Big Rig so much 😘 Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
*
“Delivery!”
You looked up at your colleague in confusion, eyes going wide at the bouquet in her arms. Holy shit that was a big bunch of flowers. Beautiful flowers. Wow.
“My God, seriously?” you gasped.
“Yeah! They’d just arrived at reception as I walked past, so I volunteered to bring them over,” she shrugged, placing them down on your desk, “looks like someone’s thinking of you,”
She walked away with a wink and a smile, your cheeks heating up as a pleased smile spread across your own lips. Wow. You could hear murmurs from the desks around you, but you ignored them as you reached for the little card attached.
~
Happy Valentine’s Day.
I wish I could be there with you.
But for now, I hope these put a smile on your face.
Jamie xx
~
You squealed softly, grinning like an idiot as you snapped a quick picture on your phone to send it to him with a heart emoji, getting an instant kissy face back. You’d only been ‘seeing’ Jamie for a month, but you’d never been romanced before like Jamie did. He was such a gentleman, a big gentle giant, and even after such a short space of time you knew this was something special.
Besides, no-one had ever sent flowers to your workplace before. How could you not be happy about that?
The rest of your day went past in a daze. Every time you glanced at the flowers you couldn’t help but smile, and every time someone complimented them you got such a giddy feeling. Yes, nothing was official between the two of you yet, but this was a good sign, right?
Jamie was away on a roadtrip right now, hence why he couldn’t be there with you, and the two of you had talked on the phone every night to make up for it. It wasn’t the same as being by his side…but it was so much better than not speaking to him at all. When your phone rang for this evening’s call, you settled onto the sofa in excitement, flowers in sight in a vase on the coffee table.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Jamie said, as soon as you answered.
“Happy Valentine’s Day to you too,” you sighed happily, “Thank you for my flowers. They’re so beautiful,”
“I’m just sorry I couldn’t be there,” Jamie sighed.
“Hey, no, you can’t control the schedule,” you murmured.
He didn’t have a choice, you knew that – you sure as hell weren’t going to get upset about it, as much as you would’ve loved to be able to spend the day with him.
“I know, I know. It just would’ve been nice to wake up with you in my arms,” Jamie grumbled, although you could tell he was smiling.
“You charmer,” you laughed, your cheeks heating up at the thought.
Jamie just laughed as well, making you smile all over again.
As you chatted about your days, filling each other in on the little stories of your co-workers and friends, easy and light-hearted, you felt your chest filling with such warmth. How were things already this comfortable between you? Even when you fell into a brief silence, it didn’t feel awkward. It just felt right.
“I can’t stop thinking about you,” Jamie said softly.
You inhaled sharply, a small smile spreading across your lips.
“In what way?” you asked, biting your bottom lip.
“In every way,” he said without hesitation, making your heart beat a little faster, “I think about kissing you. About holding your hand. About being inside you. About you moaning my name. About waking up with you in my arms. About making you laugh. I think about you all the time,”
“Jamie,” you breathed, completely speechless. Holy shit.
“I mean it, baby. I can’t believe I’ve only known you a month. It doesn’t feel real,” Jamie said softly, laughing a little.
“I know what you mean,” you murmured.
Because you did. Everything he said, you thought about too. How could you not?
“I didn’t want to do this over the phone. I wanted to say it in person. But I can’t wait any longer,” Jamie sighed.
What?
“What are you talking about?” you asked hesitantly.
“I want you to be mine. Officially. Properly. Completely. Will you? Will you be my girlfriend?”
You gasped softly at his blunt words. Whatever you had expected and hoped for from your phone call with him today, it wasn’t to define your relationship. Not in the slightest. But damn if you were complaining about it.
“Yes, of course! Of course I’ll be your girlfriend!” you grinned.
If you happened to punch a fist into the air in celebration, he didn’t have to know.
“I…wow. I really didn’t have much of a plan after that,” Jamie admitted, laughing softly.
“I’d still like you to say it in person though, make sure you haven’t changed your mind by the time you come back,” you said hesitantly, squeezing your eyes shut.
“My mind won’t change,” Jamie blurted, making your heart skip a beat, “But I will absolutely say it in person, as soon as I’m home. Maybe over dinner?”
You flopped onto your back, kicking your legs in the air excitedly like an idiot, the biggest grin on your face. He meant it. He really meant it.
“It’s a date,” you said happily.
“I can’t wait,” Jamie said softly.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you.

NHL Expansion Draft 2021: Full list of players available for Seattle Kraken
The NHL announced the protected lists for the 30 teams involved in the NHL Expansion Draft. (Vegas is exempt.) With the names of those protected come the guys who could be snatched up by the Seattle Kraken. There are a number of big names that have everyone trying to figure out just what general manager Ron Francis will do. Will he take Canadiens netminder, and future Hall of Famer, Carey Price and his hefty cap hit? Is Vladimir Tarasenko the sniper he needs or is his health a big question mark? There's also a number of guys who would fit in nicely but are free agents and the chances of signing them are not high (i.e. Alex Ovechkin). EXPANSION DRAFT: Date, time, rules & more for Seattle Kraken team selectionRegardless of what Francis, coach Dave Hakstrol and Co. end up doing, there's a good chance the Kraken will be a playoff contender in just their first season. For now, let the intrigue and the guessing WWRFD (that's: what will Ron Francis do?) begin. Here's a look at every player they can pick.

Can’t find the list but it was these two for Oleksiak! 3. “It’s always been you.” 5. “I’ve wanted this for so long
a.n: this is my first time writing again after about a month, so sorry it’s if a little rough
gif is not mine
you and jamie have been close friends for a while. you met at a birthday party allie and andrew were throwing for their daughter about two years ago. After jamie bumped into you, the rest was history.
falling for your friend was such a cliche, and it happened to you.
you realized you had feelings for him a few months ago and you tried so hard to pretend like nothing had changed, but it was hard.
it was hard seeing him with other girls at bars. it was hard to ignore the butterflies he gave you every time you guys hung out. it was hard to ignore that you didn’t just want to be friends with him.
you wanted more, but you didn’t know how the friendship could survive if he didn’t feel the same. it would probably be awkward and uncomfortable and you’d be embarrassed. you would rather have him in your life as a friend than not at all.
you were glad a co-worker/friend, michael, asked you out for drinks tonight. it would take your mind off jamie, plus michael was going through a rough patch with his boyfriend and he needed a night out.
you didn’t expect to see jamie at the bar.
you sure as hell didn’t expect him to be glaring daggers at michael. you smiled at him but he only looked away from you in return and your heart dropped.
“what’s wrong?” michael says, noticing your smile drop
“jamie’s here” you mutter as you take a drink.
“wanna leave?” he says, knowing the reason you came out with him wasn’t just to get his mind off his relationship problems, but to get your mind off jamie as well.
“nope, tonight isn’t about me,” he gives you a pointed look, “you wanted to come to this bar and we’re not leaving just because the guy i have feelings for is here”
just as you finish, one of your favorite songs comes on and you drag michael to the dance floor with a laugh, unaware that jamie was seething watching you dance with him.
a few songs later, you and michael head back to the seats all tired out from dancing when jamie storms past you towards the exit.
you look back at his retreating figure, confused.
you shrugged it off and focused on michael, trying to give him your full attention even though your mind kept going back to jamie.
-
michael and you decided to leave the bar an hour later. you guys took the same uber, dropping you off first.
when you turned into your hallway to the apartment, you were surprised to see jamie outside your front door.
“can we talk?” he says as he sees you.
you unlock the door and go in, jamie following and locking the door behind him.
“about?” you set your stuff down on the table and turn around to face jamie.
“was that a date you were on?” he blurts out.
“no, michael’s just a friend from work, plus he’s gay” you say
his jaw relaxes, “oh” he mumbles
“why would you think that?” you ask
“I don’t know, I saw you alone with a guy and kinda just assumed it was a date. I’m sorry” he says sheepishly
“is that why you stormed out of the bar?”
he stays silent
“why do you care if i’m on a date anyways?” you ask softly.
“it’s obvious to everyone but you” he says under his breath but you caught it.
“what’s obvious?” you take a step closer to him
he shakes his head, “nothing, it’s getting late and you’re probably tired” he turns to open the door but you beat him to it and stand in front of him.
“tell me” you demand
“nope” he tries to go around you to at least get his hand on the knob but you put your hand over it.
you poke his chest with the other hand, “tell me”
“no”
you poke him again, “please” you even throw in a pout
he glances down at your lips then back to your eyes, “tempting, but no”
you start to continuously poke his chest until he suddenly grabs your wrist and brings you closer to him.
you look at his lips then back into his eyes, noticing he did the same “oh screw it” he says and his lips come crashing down on yours as his hands go around your waist and pushes you gently against the door.
you kiss him back just as eagerly until you break apart, your heart racing.
his hands cup your face and he says in a soft voice “i’ve wanted this for so long”
“me too” you smile.
“I tried- I tried to fight my feelings for you. to date other people, but I couldn’t. they didn’t make me feel like you do. it’s always been you. when I saw you at the bar with that guy, I thought I had lost my chance” he says as he tucks a strand of hair behind your ear.
“I‘ve tried to ignore my feelings for you, but I can’t, no matter how hard I try” you say as you lean into his hand and his heart bursts with happiness.
“good to know this isn’t one sided” he grins
you’re both staring at each other for a few moments with goofy smiles on your faces.
“what happens now?” you ask as you wrap your arms around his neck and his go to your waist.
“now I ask you to be my girlfriend” he blushes which makes you smile harder.
“I would love to” you say and he leans down to kiss you on the forehead.
as cliche as it was, you fell for your friend, and he felt the same way.

Flight of the Dallas Stars - How Fans Came Together to Save the Flight’s Passengers
5 am
All was well, James was getting ready for work. Taking a shower. Mins later, he was greeted by his newfound friends, the Dallas Stars and Megan via Zoom. It was a crystal clear morning for his morning shift. They had lots to talk about. Ending in a "we'll see you soon."
Arriving at work. Was his buddy: Joey, who mans the Deli and his front of the store co-workers. Not knowing what was going to take place. They nonetheless put on a smile.
This day was special. For the first time; no riots, no looting took place. And hours later. James clocked off, along with his bud; Joey. Getting a text that "we would see them soon.
James took his motocross bike, and Joey took his truck. "Race ya" - joked James
Joey laughed "Your on" - Joey
The cops laughed. Not chasing after them. Rather they'd follow the fans
---
Jus then, as the plane reaches cruising altitude. The team hears a bang
Just as they were going back to Dallas after a major W
Tyler takes a look. "Hey Stars, sorry. But we'll be diverting to Seatac."
*Can You Read My Mind starts to play*
---
"Hey James, why're you slowing down?" - Joey
"I got the news. A plane has lost power in one of it's engines."
"I'll go with you."
The two headed to the Seatac airport in which the plain was making an emergency landing. This hit home with James.
The police lead James and his co-worker on to Seatac's tarmac. And several other ambulence sirens sounded off.
---
Tyler promised James and his folks that we'd be seeing them. But why now? He cried.
"And we were going to celebrate the WCF W in his hometown"
The boys agreed.
"This James. Heh, don't tell me you guys are gonna give up. No matter what, we'd face these dangers."
"He's right." - Benn
Nearing the end of the song and coming to the Seatac's tarmac. James and his bud and James' mom wait.
James takes out his binoculars and sees the plane almost to the runway
"There"
"Whoa crap, it's coming down fast"
James gets teary. As the captain touchesdown on the runway with a rough landing.
The first one out got minor injuries. Jamie Benn, followed by Tyler Seguin and the rest. Fans helped them get off the plane. It was an emotional day. Some Stars fans in Seattle came out to see the boys. And they did.
"Man, guys're lucky" - Joey
"Yeah, it was thanks to the captain." - Oleksiak
"Think it hit home with one of our fans and the player" - Benn
"Tyler..." - Bishop
Tyler promised him. But what's happened. "I'm just glad you guys're ok"
"Your not mad?" - Tyler
"Nah, I just wanted to make sure you guys are safe" And Joey, mom. I'd like to introduce you to my team. - James
it was a long night. James' fellow co-worker and mom were introduced to the team. If it weren't for quick thinking. Things could've gone sour. James' mom phoned in a nearby hotel. Close to the arena. And they agreed. So much that they had hotel medical staff on hand to get them checked up.
The fans? They got to stay free as with the Stars team and coach

Olympic Swimming: Will Penny Oleksiak make history this summer in Tokyo Olympic
The youthful Phenom has a major record in her sights: the most Olympic decorations in Canadian history. Her colleagues in Summer Games may have an effect. Olympic enthusiasts from all over the world are invited to book Olympic 2020 tickets from our online platforms for Olympic Tickets. Olympic Swimming supporters can book Olympic Swimming Tickets from our ticketing marketplace exclusively on discounted prices.
Penny Oleksiak says she's as yet developing. She's not speaking allegorically about her status at universal swimming rivalries, which she first set up at the Rio 2016 Olympics where she won four awards—including one gold—and set an Olympic precedent in the 100-meter singular free-form when she was just 16 years of age.
Nor is she discussing her trophy case, which extended at both the 2017 and 2019 World Aquatics Championships, where she won a joined aggregate of five awards, tying the record for most successes by a Canadian female swimmer at the challenge.
Gone is the moniker "The Child"— the epithet gave on Oleksiak by more seasoned swimmers at Olympic Swimming Canada's High-Performance Center in Toronto, when she first appeared in the national program four years back at an age when she couldn't have any significant bearing for a driver's permit. Presently 19, Oleksiak is additionally growing up—and into her job as one of Team Canada's key individuals heading into Olympic 2020.
Oleksiak is one of the numerous gifted youthful swimmers who will speak to Canada the following summer. Maggie MacNeil, a young person from London, Ont., upset ruling Olympic boss Sarah Sjöström of Sweden to win gold in the 100-meter butterfly at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships.
Sydney Pickrem, 22, won bronze in both the 200-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter singular mixture at Worlds. And afterward, there's Kylie Masse, who at just 23 years of age is referred to by many Team Canada swimmers as the individual they most turn upward to in the storage space. Masse won the gold decoration in the 100-meter backstroke at the 2019 World Championships, a rehash of her presentation in 2017. A large number of them have taken shot at the platform in Olympic 2020, carrying on the predominance female swimmers that appeared in 2016.
Be that as it may, Oleksiak has a taken shot at something considerably greater. With two increasingly Olympic 2020 awards, Oleksiak would outperform coxswain Lesley Thompson-Willie (who prevailed upon five awards in paddling eight Olympic appearances) to turn into Canada's most adorned Summer Olympic Games. Also, on the off chance that she wins three awards at Olympic 2020, she'd outperform Cindy Klassen and Clara Hughes to turn into the most improved Olympian—summer or winter—in Canadian history.
She's really quiet about pursuing history. At the point when approached about her objectives for Olympic 2020, she doesn't make reference to winning a solitary Olympic award or beating a specific time on race day. Rather, having neglected to duplicate a similar sort of achievement in World Championship singular occasions that she encountered in Rio she refers to something admirably inside her control: My objectives are more around showing signs of improvement in strategy.
Be that as it may if she's ever-inquisitive about her opposition on the world stage, she need just look a couple of paths over during training. Oleksiak was Canada's most youthful medallist in Rio 2016, yet scarcely; her partner Taylor Ruck—who won two Olympic bronze decorations with Canada's 100-meter and 200-meter free-form transfer groups—is just a single month more established. At the point when Canada won bronze at Rio in the 4×100-meter free-form transfer, the team all the while turned into the world's first competitors conceived in the 21st century to win an Olympic award.
In the years since Oleksiak was delegated Canada's "brilliant young lady," Ruck won a record eight awards at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, including outracing Oleksiak no holds barred in both the 100-meter and 200-meter free-form finals. At the 2019 Canadian Trials occasion to decide the group for the World Championships, Ruck outswam Oleksiak in the 100-meter free-form final, yet Oleksiak scarcely pushed out Ruck days after the fact by five milliseconds to win the 200-meter free-form occasion.
What's more, that nearby edge keeps them on their toes when they train. At an early November morning practice at the High-Performance Center, the pair swam hard in next to each other paths, Ruck regularly somewhat in front of Oleksiak.
“Oleksiak, in the interim, says she'll joyfully offer guidance to any of her partners, such as trying an alternate elbow point to show signs of improvement pull in the water. I believe we're every one of the much more centered around improving each other than we are on beating each other in light of the fact that we realize that is for more prominent benefit of the transfers, Oleksiak says.”
What's more, it's that sort of co-activity that has helped Canada exceed expectations all in all. Canada's eight swimming decorations at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships denoted an unsurpassed best, outperforming the record six awards won path in 1978.
The ladies' group won bronze in the 4×100-meter variety hand-off, 4×200-meter free-form hand-off, and the 4×100-meter free-form hand-off—the last establishing a national precedent with a group included totally of young people. You don't generally see until you hear it from others: You were the most youthful group out there, says Kayla Sanchez, the 18-year-old who swam the first leg on the free-form hand-off groups. We have extraordinary things in front of us.
Regardless of whether Oleksiak is giving a valiant effort to temper assumptions regarding her very own accomplishment in Tokyo Olympic, it's by unthinkable not to have any for the group in general. In 2016, there was an innocence and absence of weight going into the Olympic 2020, says Canadian Olympic group mentor Ben Titley. That ship has cruised.
Oleksiak took the mid-year off from swimming in 2018, avoiding significant global rivalries, to be a youngster. It got myself rationally arranged for an additional couple of long periods of extremely hard preparing for the following Tokyo Olympic, she says. Taking a break was justified, despite all the trouble.
Titley similarly minimizes any babble of Swimming Canada owning the platform in Olympic 2020. Having discussions with them about awards is 100 percent an inappropriate discussion to have, he says. We can't control awards. I can't control what occurs in America, Australia, China, Sweden—pick a nation.
But then, the signage encompassing the pool at the best in class Toronto Pan Am Sports Center offers a consistent update: This is our adventure, from puddle to platform. What's more, on the off chance that Oleksiak remains on an Olympic 2020 platform three additional occasions, well, at that point that'd truly be a first.

Canada's Commonwealth Games team looks to build Olympic momentum
For Canadian athletes, the path to Tokyo 2020 runs straight through Australia’s Gold Coast.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games begin on Wednesday Down Under and, for the 283 Canadians competing, the event is a proving ground.
Situated about halfway between the Rio and Tokyo Summer Olympics and Paralympics, the Commonwealth Games offer a mission that is twofold: Canadians will try and eclipse their previous medal tally while showing the country will be a force to reckon with in 2020.
Four years after winning 82 medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Canada is sending a mix of defending champions such as decathlete Damian Warner and wrestler Erica Wiebe and first-time Commonwealth competitors like swimmer Penny Oleksiak and beach volleyball teammates Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Parades to shoot for the Canadian team’s stated goal of 100 medals.
The last time Canada managed to reach the triple-digit plateau was 2002 in Manchester, when it took home 117 medals.
Canadian Chef de Mission Claire Carver-Dias, a two-time Commonwealth Games champion in synchronized swimming, is optimistic her squad is capable of topping its goal.
“We have an impressive team here at Gold Coast, made up of Commonwealth, Olympic and Paralympic medallists, as well as NextGen athletes who will likely compete in Tokyo 2020 and Birmingham 2022,” Carver-Dias says.
Standing in their way are 69 other nations and territories with similar goals, including star athletes such as South Africa’s Wayde van Niekirk and Caster Semenya, and Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson and Yohan Blake.
Unlike the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games have able-bodied and para events running concurrently. And at the Gold Coast Games there will be, for the first time, an equal number of medals for men and women. The following 23 sports are on the programme:
Artistic gymnastics
Athletics
Badminton
Basketball
Beach volleyball
Boxing
Mountain biking
Road cycling
Track cycling
Diving
Field hockey

Other notable Canadians slated to compete are swimmers Kylie Masse and Taylor Ruck, pole vaulters Shawn Barber and Alysha Newman, racewalker Evan Dunfee and rugby sevens stars Ghislaine Landry and Nathan Hirayama, among many others.
There are some notable absences for the Canadian squad — sprinter Andre DeGrasse, high jumper Derek Drouin, boxer Mandy Bujold and swimmer Katerine Savard are among those not competing.
Young talent
However, this event is not entirely about big names winning medals. A hallmark of the Commonwealth Games is the emphasis on developing young athletic talent on the world stage.
The biggest Canadian example of this strategy is diver Alexandre Despatie. At just 13 years old, he won gold in the 10-metre event at the 1998 Games in Kuala Lumpur, foreshadowing a pair of Olympic medals and a trio of world titles.
More than half of the 265 athletes who were members of Canada’s 2014 Commonwealth Games team in Glasgow went on to make the 2016 Rio Olympic team, and 21 of the 28 Canadian medallists in Rio had Commonwealth Games experience.
What’s new
Each Commonwealth Games has a different programme of sports; while there are 10 core events, hosts choose seven of 17 optional sports to include.
The Gold Coast edition features three sports never before contested at a Commonwealth Games: para triathlon, women’s rugby sevens and beach volleyball, where the Canadian duo of Pavan and Humana-Parades come into competition as the no.1-ranked women’s team in the world.
Also of note is the reintroduction of basketball to the programme. While it has been part of the Commonwealth Games programme in the past, it will be the first time Canadians will participate in the tournament.
The Games begin with the opening ceremony on Wednesday (watch on CBC Television and CBCSports.ca at 6 a.m. ET) and run through Sunday, April 15.

W okresie PRL, najważniejszymi produktami eksportowymi polskiego przemysłu lotniczego były samoloty An-2 oraz M18 Dromader. Pierwszy z nich był licencyjną wersją radzieckiej konstrukcji, natomiast Dromader był polską, znacznie zmodyfikowaną odmianą amerykańskiego samolotu Rockwell S-2.
Z Stanów Zjednoczonych do Polski
Koncepcja dostała zielone światło i jesienią 1974 roku rozpoczęto prace nad polską wersją amerykańskiej maszyny. Przekonstruowano jednak przednią część kratownicy kadłuba, środkową część skrzydła, usterzenie, podwozie i zbiorniki chemikaliów. Zmianie również uległ silnik, ponieważ amerykańska maszyna korzystała z silnika Pratt & Whitney R-1340 Wasp o mocy 600 KM.
PZL M18B Dromader
Budowę pierwszego prototypu ukończono latem 1976 roku, a oblot miał miejsce 26 sierpnia 1976 roku (niektóre źródła podają datę 27 sierpnia).
PZL M18 Dromader podczas zrzutu wody
W 1991 roku opracowano pierwszą z nowych wersji Dromadera, oznaczoną jako M18B. Samolot otrzymał nowy silnik PZL K-9 o mocy około 1280 KM. Tę wersję oblatano 23 sierpnia 1993 roku, a następnie skierowano do produkcji seryjnej.

Motocross and Hockey - Stars Style
James' off season. Spending time in both cities, he gets ready to head back to Dallas, his new home soon.
Showing Tyler of downtown Seattle. He took a liking to the fans. Which were really generous. Taking selfies, and other poses.
Tho, as compared to his new hometown. James was stunned to see that there were billions of Stars fans in the city as was Tyler.
And on one-on-one days when it was just the two friends hanging out, James and #91. They'd go crusin' around in downtown Seattle followed with downtown Dallas on James' motocross bike. Meeting current and new Stars fans on the way.
In Dallas' Comerica arena, they practiced puck control. And Tyler got better at it.
Then Kate comes along..."I don't get it." - James
Sorry buddy. - Tyler
So James bikes off and heads to his Dallas home
Tyler's friends wondered where their "pupper" was
---
James had thought that he wouldn't get that chance to meet Tyler. But man, was he wrong.
Having parked his motocross bike next to Tyler's car. And heads inside for the evening practice. Who would be waiting at the entrance than #91. Wearing his white BioSteel cap on backwards, and with his Stars jersey.
Being playful he rushes to tackle him. Oh boy, look at Seguin go - Benn as he smiles. James, been wanting to meet him takes off his motocross helmet. With James him wearing his motocross #91 jacket and pants. They do their own version of the chest bump
lol Someone's happy. - said Tyler as he laughs. The kids laugh. It's great to see u. - Johns. James' Mom also met them Sunday night as well. Welcoming and really hospitable.
It was either this or completely ignoring the fans and going off with Kate. Tyler opted and went with the fans and James instead. She was sour, not wanting him to meet a Stars fan. So he broke away from her.
Practicing hockey drills with James and Tyler. The kids weren't gonna get away. As the two were more tough.
Next morning. Fans and James wake up. Another gorgeous day in Dallas. Only person missing...#91. Due to BioSteel
Going about their business. While #91's in Toronto, he does keep a constant communication on with Insta DM. Showing him what was happening back in Dallas.
On one of the days that Dallas had a motocross event. Sponsored by the Stars.
Tyler was interested. So he saw a live I.G from stryker_james.91 filming the event. And was the first time that they talked with each other. Among the fans that joined the conversation
- tseguin92
- OG Kevin Bacon
- Megan
Sitting on his motocross bike. He took the day off. While his co-workers go at it racing. Johns was really happy that Stars hosted a motocross event. Yeah, no cars or trucks were allowed on the premises. Only parking was reserved for bikes
Of course, it wasn't complete without hockey as well. Which a few Sharks players were on hand. To a friendly match of Green vs Blue.
---
The 3-on-3 match portion pitted James, Joe and Jamie Oleksiak. On the blue side, it was Hertl, Couture and Eriksson. It got underway quickly. With Stars opening the scoring.
Tho, it wasn't a perfect game. Team Green won over them. With 15-10. Stars (Team Green) garnered 15 points.
The Sharks team also welcomed them to the city. Not bearing a grudge or anything. Just beriending them. Yeah, it was an eventul day.
---
After the event. James heads back to his buddy's house. With tears in his eyes.
As he parks his bike to the left of what would be his buddy's parking spot for his Ferrari. He powers down his bike. And Heads inside. He sits inside at the TV room and starts to cry when he plays Cold Steel 3.
Tyler comes inside and sees his pal playing with Gerry Seguin. "I'm not gonna pretend to know what your going through. That I promised you bud that I'd come back and we'd head for Benn's MS Society.
*James starts to cry* "If there's anything that I could make things up." said Tyler as for the first time, he got teary too
Tyler wanted to go with his bud to have lunch before the MS Society after the 3rd BioSteel day.
James forgave him. Tyler said if he could ride with him to pre-season. "It's all I ever wanted. Seeing you guys." said James
Heh, it's a deal bud. - said James
*A Stars fan and a player* fic
