This man-child slays me! We watched an Air Bud movie, the football one, and of course he had to dress up one of his stuffies in a football uniform. so I was making dinner and I had some thoughts.

I don't totally think kats to blame for everything that happened. true, whe went too far with everything that happened, but she didn't start any of it. she died, and for all she knew, that was it. but her dad decided to bring her back. he decided to use rip.

Matilda also went a little far, but what can anyone expect from a person who has just the lost her best friend, the person she cares about the most in the entire world. Matilda was given the change to bring back Kat, and in a moment of pain and heartbreak, she would do anything, even kill. but as time passes and she realizes the consequences of everything, and sees the person that Kat has turned into, she stops, and fixes her actions to the best of her ability. if she hadn't brought Kat back, she knew the guilt she would feel would rip her to shreds, and she makes the only choice someone in her situation would make. she felt completely alone, thought that no one was there to support her. it was only after she realized that there would be other people who cared about her that she was finally able to move on from Kat.

Kat, on the other hand, has just woken up after dying, and is understandably confused. she has just been completely betrayed by her father (finding out that he didn't tell her about her mother's death), only to learn that he just brought her back from the dead, with the help of her best friend. and she most likely isn't exactly in the right mind to realize that the "sacrifice" he made really only benefited himself by destroying his only political rival. I'm not saying that he didn't care about his daughter, that much is clear, but she can't see the whole situation, how the poison she drank was from him (even if it was meant for another), and how, by saving her, there was a sort of debt between them. she forgives him, at least a bit, and begins to pick some things up from him, like the cunning, the ruthlessness, the trickery. again, I'm not saying this is all his fault, I'm just saying that their relationship became somewhat weird, she (even though she still disliked him) began working with him for her own survial, and it led to her changing.

In addition, her life suddenly became the question of 'would you like to know when you were gonna die or not?' except she didn't get a choice. everything in her life had been turned upside down,and on top of that, she now knows exactly when she's gonna die, and exactly how to prevent it. in a situation like that, where the closer and closer you get to imminent death, the more desperate you get, the more you're willing to do and sacrifice to survive.

props to mk's acting, you can see the desperation and fear as she realizes that Matilda is turning against her. you can see how fall she is willing to go, when she stabs the fake bard (who's name I cannot remember for the life of me rn, sorry. it's like oldsocks or something. definitely). Matilda has never seen her so desperate,and clearly isn't used to it, which means that Kat has never been that way before. she feels like her life is closing in on her, which it kind of is.

she also did not start flirting with Ichabod in the mind that she cared about him. she didn't. so that betrayal for her was not hard. and by the time they're in the church, even Brom walking in is not enough. she is so determined and scared that honestly nothing could have made her change her mind at the point.

I'm not saying that she didn't do anything wrong, she definitely did, I'm just saying that maybe we all would have done the same. maybe her choice wasn't evil, maybe it was just human. made in the face of fear in death, where almost no one makes a truly good decision. or maybe I'm just sad that we aren't getting a happy ending for Kat and Ichabod. idk.
