Monolithe - Black Hole District

Progressive Doom/Dark Metal from Paris, France

Black Hole District is a story in a Tech-Noir style, inspired by Blade Runner, but also Dark City, Matrix, Ghost in The Shell, as well as “hard boiled” literature. The narrator lives in a decaying city, in a dystopian future. Black Hole District is part of the band’s evolutionary logic since their beginnings: progression in continuity. If Monolithe’s musical style remains identifiable, new influences and musical desires enrich each newalbum. This is the case with BHD, which drew on the aesthetics of the 1970s and 1980s, especially in terms of synthesizers, in particular with the use of the famous CS-80 synth popularized by Vangelis, and the appeal of soundtracks of science fiction films. The album is also designed as a movie would be, with a scenario, an atmosphere, a central character whose train of thoughts is provided to the listener through narrations in a “hard boiled” detective style. Eager to offer original music, Monolithe does not hesitate to break the rules of its primary genre, Doom Metal, while preserving its substantial marrow and roots.

Lying Figures is a Melodic Death/Doom Metal band formed in 2012 in Nancy (France). Brutal yet melodic, heavy and oppressive, their music is inspired by tortured arts coming from music as well as cinematography or literature. "Inheritance" is the second full length from the band and is resulting from 6 years of introspectives and personal thoughts. The explored themes are more complex and more intimate. Necroferum - Visions from the Necrorealm (EP)

Today we have the privilege of sharing an early stream of ‘Visions From the Necrorealm‘, the debut EP from San José, Costa Rica-based death metal quartet NECROFERUM. The EP will release via Nuclear Winter Records (LP, CD, CS) this coming November 4th. NECROFERUM was established in 2023 by Juan Salas and Justin Sanchez, both of Mortual, in their pursuit of a heavier and more punishing sound. The line-up was completed with the addition of drummer Juan José Fernandez, who introduced bassist Kevin Venegas to the group. Based in San José, Costa Rica, NECROFERUM is dedicated to conjuring the sepulchral sound of spectral mists.
