Idk if its even possible to find firewire to usb that will work for burning dvds bc i think i learned that not all of the cables can do dvd :0

I don't require the biggest/fastest/newest hardware for my software tinkering. Rather, I do most of my software development on 2012-vintage desktop hardware. (This helps ensure that code I write works on older systems.)

But it's also important to keep an eye on where the industry is headed and to occasionally develop and test on modern hardware. For instance, my desktop doesn't have Vulkan drivers---probably they don't exist for its GPU. Being on the road with my 2021-vintage laptop encouraged me to study Vulkan sooner than I otherwise would've.

I'm not in the market for new hardware. However, Jarred Walton's review of the 4060 (linked above) is interesting because it was (vaguely) cited in a very negative review of the same product by Timothy Green at Motley Fool. When I found Walton's original review (linked above) I discovered Green had quoted it out of context to make the 4060 look like an idiotic mistake. On the contrary, the 4060 appears to be an attempt by Nvidia to compete at a lower price point.
