The fan favorite for TYC may end up being Tibe, which kind of surprises me, but here's a rundown on him:

Tibe is Princess Chima's personal guard. He's tall and lanky and has green eyes, and he's quite stoic while on the clock. He's Chima's best friend and is offered to Arvin as part of a betrothal/prenup package.

Tibe is a mamas boy who's homesick during his stay in Niro with Arvin, but he's also trying to befriend Arvin.

Tibe is mixed. He's half Okalan (Igbo) and half Loscioran (Colombian). Though he's not connected to his Loscioran side at all. His father was a pirate.

He's outgoing and friendly under normal circumstances! But he also hates his job as personal guard and would rather remain at home to live with and care for his mother.

Hoseok is the god of luck and money, but he’s also the reason Arvin almost died while his mother labored with him for more than twelve hours. Arvin knows he shouldn’t, but he doubts the notoriously selfish god’s interest in helping him.

His mother clears her throat, setting her glass of white wine down and pulling Arvin out of his thoughts. “The Okalans are lying to us.”

The subject change gives Arvin whiplash, but he doesn’t let his puzzled expression form, sensing this is something everyone but him is aware of. He reaches for the platter of rolls on the table, but a sharp look from his mother stops him.

It's for this reason that Jaali, Okala, and Niro are all LOOSELY based on India, Igbo Nigeria, and Korea. It's all much less than a one to one translation, I can see in my head that a lot of the fashion is different from what we see in today's time for various reasons, and I know for a fact that the food is different as well.

For instance, fresh fish would be a much higher part of Okalan cuisine when it isn't in irl Nigeria because Okala has a big ol river w a million branches coming off it. on the other hand, Niro is mostly land locked, and their river branches are not as many. They'd import a lot of fish products from Okala since they don't have real access to an ocean.

the bank of nigerian films set in the time period im looking for is slim, and ik that there's plenty of kdramas and bollywood films from which to draw fashion inspiration, but I think my biggest inspiration would be the green knight, if only because the costume designer said that they weren't going for 100% historical accuracy, and you can vaguely put a time on the period based on people dress without everything in there being 100% from that time period. its "historically inaccurate" but in a way that looks good. thats what i want for the young court
