hi!! so this isn't actually the case as while gourdy was briefly mentioned in a trial, said trial had nothing to do with whether or not gourdy was "real" per se as much as. well. murder, actually. while gourdy WAS found out to be an inflatable steel samurai this was not brought up in the case at all as the veracity of gourdy wasn't really as relevant as the fact that the witness was looking for gourdy rather than at the murder she claimed to have seen. plus this was also a relatively small part of a MUCH larger trial which for those interested not only solved the dl-6 case but ALSO marked the end of prosecutor von karma's ~40 year long record and the court records are really a fascinating read through!!

Get Back Rewatch 55 Years On: Day Five

The thing is I absolutely love the album that comes out of this mess. Like I know a lot of people do not like Let It Be, but so many of my favorite songs are on it. One of them being “I Me Mine.” The walz element is haunting, and I can read the lyrics as anti-capitalist even though George himself mostly wasn’t. 

Laughing my head off at two boys from one of the best grammar schools in England, who have at this point made millions off of their writing, genuinely not knowing whether it should be “more freer” or “more freely”

The difference in how George shows Paul his new song vs John is striking. For Paul, he’s relaxed, nonchalant. For John, he stands up and performs it. And I think both are a defense mechanism, poor baby, because clearly, although Paul was very supportive of the song while they were alone, when John is roasting it, Paul just laughs along and George has to go “I don’t give a fuck whether you like it.” 

Ah, the famous “up-against-a-wall” conversation. Paul comes in all dominant and sure. “Haven’t you written anything else? Haven’t you?” But then John touches him, and makes him laugh, and Paul’s a melted, goo-goo-eyes mess. This is the real reason why John got to be the leader isn’t it? Because Paul was too damn soft on him to ever follow through with his bossiness.

Their scouse sounds BEAUTIFUL compared to the stupid ugly RP and MLH’s transatlantic shit.

“And now John’d like to say a few words on the subject.” John starts singing, Paul strums along and joins in on the “chorus.” They can’t communicate like healthy people, but they Can do this. 

So Peter Jackson took out Paul’s bitchy nod at Yoko as he’s stealing her man in real time right in front of her eyes. Unforgivable. But he kept in this adorable laugh, so that’s something. 

Three more covers that I think *mean something* “Stand By Me” and “Spinning Like a Top” by Paul, followed by “You Win Again” by John. Yoko’s sweet little shoulder kiss. Thank you for taking care of the poor wet kitten, girly. Maybe don’t introduce the poor wet kitten to heroine, but you do you, I guess. (OP recognizes that poor wet kitten is also an adult capable of making his own decisions)

The cut from Paul literally dancing to get John’s attention straight to John dancing with Yoko while inside Paul’s head a silver hammer is clanging ominously. I can’t. Followed by the knowing, loving smile from Ringo to Paul. You know, those moments when you validate your friend’s bitchy thoughts with a look. 

George is literally SO big inside himself, you know? You have to have superhuman self-love abilities to watch your friend – who is supposed to be helping you – shamelessly make fun of your art . . . and just “Do you wanna do that walz on the show? That’d be great.”

But did you guys know John was actually a really great mover?

“Yes, alright. Just sod off.” I love John. Paul’s people-pleasing ass would literally die first and he needs John to do this kind of shit for him and John’s only too happy to.

The moment when Paul and John are on the same wavelength about Dennis O’Dell’s stage. 

OK but. Did John get the clear plastic idea from Yoko’s art exhibits? 

“Any time we do anything it’s always got to be the best.” Poor Ringo. They’re all literally so tired of carrying so much weight for such a long time. 

“See, I’d watch an hour of him just playing the piano. Cause he’s so great.” With that fond, loving, smile. SUCH big dick energy here. The others could NEVER. 

“And I’ll have the plastic when you’re finished.” Literally for what, though? John, you little hoarding goblin. 

And then Ringo responding to MLH’s “I love you” with “Yes, I love you too.” Yeah, Ringo wins the prize for most healthy beatle of the day. 

*Pattie Boyd voice* “I just wish I knew what was going on there. But something. Something.”

Ugh, John looks so hurt. So tender. So heartbroken. While Paul is over there playing a damn funeral march because that’s the only way he lets himself express anything. But I actually love how Dennis O’Dell knows the clearest path to cheering John up is to say that Paul liked his idea. And how well it works. They’re literally so obvious to everyone but themselves. 

I love the bit when John walks in on the rest of them discussing the live show and MLH calls, “We’ve decided. We’re going to Africa.” And Paul hurries to cut in, “No we’re NOT.” Because he knows exactly how John can get and he’s going to nip this in the bud before John gets let down. And of course, John is all “YEAH LETS GO LETS GO!” And he’s talking about how they always wish they were recording abroad. “We could be in LA, or FRANCE.” (side eye emoji) 

Paul’s “Well said, John.” and “I’ve seen it, John. I went to the premiere. I thought you were great.” Why do all your compliments to him have to be in silly voices? Like, I know you think everyone is going to call you a pussy for saying something genuinely kind to your best friend, but they’re not, and he needs it.

i am actually so suspicious of this god damn moth post but i cant find any concrete evidence to prove theres something wrong with it other than my gut feeling and i feel insane

like of course first of all this post is from 2013 and im not really willing to believe any given post from 2013 is true specially when the post is this amazing coincidence of this person coincidentally finding those two coincidentally aesthetically pleasing moths and managing to get them coincidentally snuggling together for a picture. yknow. it does feel too weirdly good to be true

BUT SECONDLY im so weirded out by these two moths specifically.

ok bear with me. the little one is very obviously a rosy maple moth. (which is also coincidentally one of the most famous moths specifically for being pretty)

but im willing to believe any given english speaking tumblrgirl at the time could find one considering they live seemingly accross the united states and canada. fair enough

BUT my problem is the big one. of course everybody even in the notes seems to be classifying it as a luna moth (ALSO a famous moth species for being pretty) you can also feasibly find them in north america, ok.

theres also the point of their lifespans

luna moths as adults live only for about 7-10 days, and i had a harder time finding info for adult rosy maple moths but it seems its about the same

the source of this is an old article from someone actively breeding maple moths x but i believe its the same with moths in general, since they literally dont have mouths and cant eat so they just mate and die.

SO youre gonna have a small time span to find one. both moths are also mainly nocturnal, which makes even weirder that op found both of them during the day.

theres also the point of WHEN are they adults. aka maply moths seem to show from from may through the summer

luna moths though, seem to vary in when they show up depending on place. some do include late may or early june on northern regions, ans a generation in july in central states.

which means you could, feasibly, have a span of about a week or so in may, june or july where both maple moths and luna moths are adults and alive at the same time.

BUT THE POST IN QUESTION IS FROM APRIL 16

thats NOT when adult rosy maple moths show up, much less both of them.

though maybe im just being too pedandic with specific dates and theres margin for variation, but its, again, some real big coincidences

BUT FINALLY theres the fact im suspicious about this luna moth IN THE FIRST PLACE.

i might just be going actually crazy here, but for this we've been assuming the luna moth is the species that exists in north america (otherwise these two wouldnt be in the same place at all)

and like this is what the luna moth looks like

and you see how theyre kinda weird compared to the one in the pic.

the luna moths are mostly green, with much less of this pretty pastel pink of the one on the tumblr post. you could argue they have pink markings but in most pictures i see they seem more like a dark red/brown with a remarkable very thick marking on the wings

you see how the moth in the pic just looks kinda weird. but that can also be from filters or editing to make the photo prettier making the colors different.

(i also think the tail looks weirdly long, but there seems to be variation in the tail length in various luna moth pics ive seen, so i cant speak for sure about that)

(i also cant tell you whether the sizes in comparison to each other are right cause i suck at visualizing size comparisons and its not like theres any other pic on earth of the two together so.)

CONCLUSION: i dont fucking know. i spent an hour looking moths up online and didnt get any reasonable answer to my doubts. i guess in the end THERE is, even if small, a chance of you finding both these boths alive at the same time in the same place so i can fully discredit the op. i give up im going to have breakfast

firstly, thank you. this is one of the best compliments i have ever gotten for my writing and i would like to eat it

secondly, i literally spent like 5 mins trying to figure out what ops and hcs means but i am going to assume it means opinions and headcanons??? consulted my friend and she also said opinions and headcanons so we are going to go with that. if it doesn’t mean that then this is going to be really embarrassing BUT.

- hualian idol au where xianle trio are an idol group and hua cheng literally comes to EVERY SINGLE ONE of their fansigns, buys a SHIT ton of albums to make sure he gets in every time, and at the actual fansign he just completely ignores fx and mq and instead spends the entire time complimenting xl and showering him with presents, etc etc. xie lian’s company literally has to enforce a No Gifts At Fansigns rule bc of hua cheng. fx and mq thinks that he is the creepiest thing on the planet. there are whole subgroups of netizens who HATE hc and think he’s really creepy bc he’s ALWAYS around xl. meanwhile xl thinks hc is the cutest person ever and is in love with him. yeah.

- hualian idol au with solo idols xie lian and hua cheng and their fanbases HATE each other. think armys and blinks. engenes and teumes. i can’t really think of any more but u get the idea. meanwhile xl and hc are dating LMAOOO

- ok that ^ but imagine like a socmed/twt au where like. this random twt account starts getting really popular and they are like hualian shippers and both of xl and hc’s fanbases make fun of them all the time and it’s literally the only thing the two groups ever agree on: that this random acc is stupid af and completely delusional. THEN ONE DAY the admin of the acc posts a selfie and guess what. it’s hua cheng. and then xl replies to the selfie from his very real main twitter account and the internet just goes fucking bonkers

OK not to go on more rambles because I can’t stand seeing people who disagree with me, but I just want to get one thing off my chest about the fandom argument against watcher lore.

I often hear that watcher lore “takes over all the theorizing in the fandom” and I just. Genuinely have no idea what other types of theories are SUPPOSED to exist??? In the life series fandom???

I decided that I don’t want long rambles here so I’ll leave the rest under the cut

Like, my best guess is predictions, for who will die and what the next gimmick might be, etc. but watcher lore never overshadows those conversations, and they’re much better being called “predictions” than “theories”.

Then there’s character analysis, which SOMETIMES people will throw watcher lore into (note: if someone explicitly states that they are talking about their watcher lore related headcanons for a character then you have no reason to complain that their analysis has watchers in it). But once again, and even more so this time, I wouldn’t call that a theory? It’s a character analysis. And unless it’s about Grian they will very rarely mention watchers anyway (unless again it’s a post dedicated to the watcher lore and op’s ideas for that). And Grian is one of the most popular characters so there’s plenty of other posts about him you could look at instead lol. He’s got all KINDS of fans.

Then there’s just general discussion of the life series which IS NOT TAKEN OVER BY WATCHER LORE. Bro I see SO many discussions about life series lore that has NOTHING to do with watchers (or just has a one off line about them). Idk why people act like the fandom is too obsessed with watcher lore to talk about events within the series when we literally DO talk about them lol. If we only cared about watchers we’d be the EVO fandom not life series 😭

My next best guess is the most ridiculous one to me. Are the theories that watcher lore is overshadowing… theories about why the games exist and why these people are in them? SOMETHING THAT… ONLY ONE OF THE CCs HAS GIVEN ANY SORT OF CLUES TO?? The ONLY CC who has gone “hey life series fandom! Here’s some things for you to make theories on!” MARTYN IN THY LITTLE WOOD??? If you want to speculate on explanations for the death games that don’t involve watchers, go on ahead! But I don’t see why the people taking what one of the CCs has given us as an explanation are a problem?

Like I’m genuinely so confused. “Watcher lore takes over all the theories in the fandom” my guy Martyn “Watcher Lore” LittleWood is the only person giving the fandom theory material. If this is really such a problem for you then why don’t you beg the other CCs to sprinkle some lore for you to theorize on.

tldr; i was honestly disappointed but i still don't think it was completely awful + i hope if they do a 2nd season it's better *wants to see milly*.... fuck the director though

the major problems were that the pacing was soooooo weird n some of the changes (both story wise and design wise) they made were questionable esp towards the latter half

my positive points:

i do still think individual eps at the first half were really good

i loved the animation + how they used colors

the backgrounds are cool

the artstyle shift in wolfwood's flashback was cool

i've always been "ok" abt vashwood honestly (sorry) but i will acknowledge they were very yaoiful here. i saw a person who didn't ship vashwood say the ep in tristamp where they literally just met made them ship it which was really funny bc how did that change your mind so fast

i'm ngl the milly + eriks name drops made me *JAWDROP* but that's something that only matters to ppl who watched/read the ogs first

my negative points (uh oh):

white washed wolfwood (+ his skintone is soo inconsistent in merch)

they gave vash no room to breathe n he doesn't get big sillay moments after ep 3

^ this is true for every character except i guess roberto? more on roberto later

^^^ goes with the previous too points but it felt like they were way too focused on the drama n sadness without enough (long lasting) happy or hopeful moments to contrast or balance it out overall - to the point were the characterization of our main cast suffered for it bc there wasn't enough there with them to make that properly work. and THEN the silly moments ended up suffering too bc they start feeling out of place. the drama beats kept happening one after the other at breakneck speed without breaks, messing up the pacing as well (i can kinda blame this at least partially on the fact they only had 12 eps when the og was 26 eps but i've watched plenty of 12 ep series with great pacing so i don't really know what happened here?)

i disagreed with this at first, but the lore with vash being front-loaded really did hurt the story a bit in the long run. obviously they did still spread the full details out over the course of the show but it was :\

specific to "the running man"- it's my fav ep tbh but it was strange how all the townsfolk were partying w the nebraskas with no indication they'd arrest them after they did so much damage n vash didn't even get to fix the damaged plant?? so why were they so joyous when the initial problem wasn't solved?

roberto.... was such a weird character... he managed to be both a dick n a guy w no personality, he was there to give exposition + attempt to be funny? n then die. also the marketing staff fucking hates him he's never in any merch wtf ((edited after the finale: well now we know he wasn't meant to replace milly (i had a whole paragraph complaining abt that lol) + now i feel like they added him just to kill someone other than wolfwood off))

i can't speak much on elendria bc i had so much trouble reading trimax forever ago that i never retained anything abt her other than she's trans, but everything involving her in tristamp felt strange/ like it didn't work. i have essentially same feeling about livio here. they threw legato to the side??

what the fuck was the thing with the plants towards the end. it just hit me what the hell

i miss the old anime's ost :( tristamp's ost isn't bad by any means n there are tracks that i really like it's just idk man. especially with the the op song, i couldn't get myself to not skip the op SORRY. could you imagine how hype it would've been if a new rendition of H.T. or NO-BEAT started playing

i'm fine with stamp vash's design (blasphemous i know) but man would'n've one of his og coat designs worked well in 3d? i feel like it would've ((added after the finale: the new coat did look nice in black + they brought back his old hair in the last ep tho so. How I feel about the characters this season

Love: Zelena

Like: Rumple, Belle, Hyde, Hook, August, Jasmine, Aladdin

Neutral: Emma, Snow, David, Henry

Dislike: Regina, Blue

Hate: Jekyll, The Evil Queen, Gideon

Season rating: 4/10

I kind of didn’t like this season. I did not like Regina blaming Zelena for Robin’s death, Rumbelle being broken up, or the whole Gideon plot. There were some good moments but mostly me being frustrated. I did kind of like the land of untold stories plot line though.

phew ok it’s been a few weeks i can unpack my thoughts on xan dying to vampires now

bc i never romanced the vanilla love interests, i never knew that they all die to bodhi and need to be resurrected afterwards. so the thought process here finally makes sense to me: the vanilla love interests die, so to match, the modded love interest should probably die as well. but wait! xan can’t just die and get resurrected, he has the moonblade and it would prevent the whole resurrection thing, plus elven culture abhors the undead. so instead you get an ominous dream in bg1 foretelling that he’s going to die, and like 2-3 conversations where xan establishes that 1) he would never allow himself to be turned into a vampire thrall, he would literally rather die 2) he’s certain that his sword would not allow him to be turned into a vampire thrall, and that it would literally rather kill him. for once, their opinions are totally united. this leads one to question why xan accepted this mission in the first place when he specifically promised to quit--but i digress.

in the original ending, he dies and somehow (doesn’t matter how) rather than being trapped in the blade, xan ends up in arvandor. through dreams charname hears about how he reunited with his parents, how he burst into happy tears, etc etc. he’s gotten his dearest wish: to die! 

i. i mean i know this is supposed to like.. offset the loss? like hey at least he’s happy and is in heaven at last! you still even get to talk to him sometimes! but it just doesn’t sit right with me that--this is good?? that this absolutely needed to happen?

like: why is he right? why is he always right? he says his and charname’s love is doomed; that he will die; that he will die before her; that it will happen soon, in bg2. and he is right, he dies. but always making him right was the author’s choice.

it was established in bg1 that the author’s xan has the gift of premonition--well, that he used to have visions as a child, and now all he has is Bad Feelings About Things. premonition is kind of an op thing to give a companion, but i do like the way it’s handled in bg1: it gives him more to talk about than just reacting to things as they happen, and bc of xan’s disposition, his actual fourth-wall-breaking spoiler-y guesses are naturally camouflaged within his standard “we’re all doomed” talk. he says idly that he “has a premonition that some barbarian axe-wielder will chop [his] head off in the next battle,” and it’s merely a joke, but he is always right--or nearly right--about the games’ plot, and his place in it, and his place in the bg2 mod’s plot.

and i hate this. xan is a character who you just want to prove wrong--you want to take him by the shoulders and say, repeat after me, there is hope and life is worth living. by bg2, he begins tentatively to believe this. but then in the one part of the plot that is entirely decided by his author, where it is decided that he must die to bodhi, all control is taken from the player just to prove his last, deadly premonition right.

you can’t dismiss xan temporarily to deal with bodhi and then recruit him again, because xan insists on staying at charname’s side so badly that if you do push him to leave, the bond breaks and the romance ends. the writing corners you in: you will keep him, and you will watch him die. it’s exactly the kind of vaguely malevolent writing that permeates bg2 as a whole, so yes, in that sense, the writing here fits in perfectly! but what i don’t like is how it ends up completely validating the worldview xan has held since day 1: out of all the other romances, this hopeless end is singularly unavoidable and inevitable for them.

and honestly, that doesn’t even scratch the surface of how bad it is. in the friendship path, and only in the friendship path, in bg1, xan says:

I do not know what comes over me sometimes. It's hard to describe. Imagine a feeling of burning shame, mingled with grief and absolute astonishment why your heart is still beating - and overwhelming guilt that because of you, people have died before and will die after.

this is clear all throughout his romance, too, even if he never says it (which also hurts--why is a romanced charname the last person he can confess this to?). and with this in mind, his ending--his original, “ha ha, gotcha, he’s doomed after all” ending--addresses this guilt by having him die?! his ending doesn’t just punish the player, it does his character development a disservice in the same blow.

now you may say, sovo, that was the original end, you get to save him now, what are you complaining about? and oh, i still have plenty to complain about. i’m complaining about the convoluted band-aid.

to save him, you get two opportunities. one is wedged into the conversation xan starts about bodhi, where he says he’s certain that he’ll die bc his sword will kill him before bodhi can turn him, and charname is given an option to say “are you sure there isn’t anything i can do??” to which xan goes “oh there is actually”. he says that if charname really wants, she can offer to take part of the blow for him so that she might help him survive--and he hasn’t mentioned this until now bc his life isn’t worth the chance that charname might temporarily feel pain, i guess. when charname does accept, xan is genuinely surprised and touched that she loves him enough to want him not to die, and at this point i am holding the edge of my desk in a white-knuckled grip going i thought we were past this, when is he going to believe, i’m fucking dying out here. anyway, it’s clumsy, i think it’s obvious why i dislike this.

the other opportunity is a player-initiated dialogue that goes, “Your moonblade may kill you if it deems your actions unjust, but you are just following my orders.” this can be selected any time before the bodhi convo above, so it’s vaguer about the specific circumstance xan might die in. xan ends up saying that yes, the moonblade may strike him down, but charname can offer take part of the blow. xan guides charname in forming a connection with the moonblade, and notably, the description here is far more fleshed out than it was in the bodhi convo. but here’s why i still hate this option: it’s so out of the way. i’m sorry, but his death is a major fork in the romance, why is this not a scripted conversation in its own right?

yes, the answer is it’s not a scripted conversation because then it would disrupt the rhythm of his other scripted conversations in the original version of the story. but then tell me: why was it not in the original? isn’t this a relevant thing to talk about? it could explain why xan’s still on a greycloak mission even after quitting the greycloaks: xan is worried that charname is tilting the scales of the moonblade, so he redoubles his efforts to keep the balance any way he can. making charname aware of this would introduce a relevant source of drama, something for them to talk about, to work on together. but no: instead, we get like 2-3 conversations about xan being sad that he’s older than charname so even if he lives long he will die before her. and i’m like??? sir, you’ve been saying this whole time that your lifeblood spills before hers, you have long been resigned to this, now talk about the blade that is going to kill you.

now, i realize the author can’t see the future like xan can. i get it. how could you expect to retcon the story to give bonded xan a happy ending even though he should never have been given the sad ending to begin with? but i’m still disappointed. like--where is the relationship development? when are they going to communicate with each other? when is xan going to let charname shoulder some of his concerns, too? i would give their lack of communication a pass if this were solely charname’s story, like bg1 was, but since the bg2 mod can kill him, i need them to talk! and enough of this “i will bear it silently” stuff from xan, charname needs to talk it out of him. in the celebratory scene after xan survives bodhi, he admits that he's been giving charname pieces of his life essence to sustain her while she’s without her soul, and that it’s totally fine because he thought he was going to die anyway. like, hello?? i need the self-sacrifice to stop! stop encouraging him! stop making him right! grind the story to a halt, right now--shake some sense into him! let charname tell him that he does not have to destroy himself as compensation for receiving her love!

I'm very fond of ancient egypt and recently a scroll of the book of the dead has been found. it's fucking amazing but it made me realize: krakoa doesn't have traditions for the dead or anything relating to grief. death happens a lot yet none of the community aspects for it exist. the cemetery they have for those who haven't been resurrected yet is pretty much abandoned because they will be back eventually. they care about the 1st resurrection but not the 1st death because it's irrelevant to them

Yeah this is a very interesting part of the discussion. Some thoughts on that..

Death is a very prominent part of Krakoan culture. I can't reference it to any culture I know of IRL. And that's because it's not that Krakoans celebrate death or revere it, it's completely avoided. And I think by that they can miss out on some really interesting angles of how death can be handled within this multicultural mutant society.

For example, the first thing that pops up when you Google "how cultures celebrate death" Mexico has their "Day of the Dead" which is a celebration of deceased family. I do wonder how Mexican mutants get to do any of that while they live on Krakoa. Cause apparently Krakoans do not leave the island!! And you're the first time I heard of cemeteries on Krakoa 😳. So they wouldn't be able to go back to Mexico etc to visit the cemeteries of their old neighborhood 😬

And off the top of my head there's a bunch of other issues surrounding cremation, which is a cultural and religious practice 😬

Like, I GET that resurrection is a uniquely Krakoan thing and it's a heavy part of their mutant culture and that's OK. But how do they respect that and make everyone else happy? Then again, there are some people, like Magneto, who want to die and not be resurrected. I guess from that standpoint, people do get a choice on resurrection and thus a permanent death, and from there they can have their family perform their original culture's death ritual the way they want. And I'm guessing because Magneto's death was a permanent one they had a blended Krakoan/Jewish funeral? Storm was his ally on Arakko at the time so I'm sure she wanted to respect his final death in the best way she could by giving him a good send off.

Resurrection is always a really funny thing in the superhero genre because we know, if it's a big name character, or if it's crucial to the plot, the character is gonna come back.

The Krakoans just have a really OP way of keeping that cycle going that now makes death even more regular than what we're used to. I read Legion of X so seeing Nightcrawler die multiple times in one sitting is so... numbing. His friends literally stand 5 feet away witnessing this. It's such a shrugged off incident that death really does have no meaning in their culture, and maybe that's a culture within itself? The removal of death to keep going?

I mean, mutants on Earth die all the time, so it's kind of like.. reclaiming life? We can die and keep living forever? And because I read House of X that's kind of what Prof. X's long term plan is. To keep the cycle going forever and ever and ever. Mutants have died enough and this is their ticket to immorality.

So now I'm thinking... it's not that death is irrelevant, death is here as long as there is life. It's just that immortality and life is valued more than ever. And from that I think it really starts to make sense why there is that big of a party/love culture on Krakoa. What we're seeing now is the first generation of Krakoans. They've still got kinks to work out. The first gen is just showing us how they can express their passion for living. By partying as hard as they can and loving as much as they can.

prepare yourself for the most big brain thing that has ever bigged your brain

chapter 1

shuichi saihara spends this chapter following kaede around because they were just trapped in a godforsaken killing game and everything seems to suck. when faced with a situation such as this, the natural inclination is to either find someone to latch onto or to distrust and stick to oneself. shuichi does the former because he is a twiggy little man who would probably die in a fight before anyone even attacked him.

what is kokichi doing in this chapter? sticking to himself? stalking someone? that is the real question. nobody knows what he is doing because he is not the protagonist and not the obligatory party companion. however, since v3 follows a theme of fiction, it is totally logical to believe that some system must be in place, but kokichi is not bound by such a system because kokichi represents anarchy.

he does not stick with another for all to see, nor does he remain alone. alas, he searches for a secret companion and has not found one yet. who shall he find? shall he find any? the truth is, he gravitates towards shuichi. it’s supposed to be in secret, but there is a way in the game to see what really happened.

if you speak to tsumugi right before everyone is asked to gather at the cafeteria a second time, she mentions sonic the hedgehog. kokichi runs by, saying “got to go fast”. this means that kokichi has either played sonic the hedgehog or is at least well-versed in sonic memes. if you get this dialogue, and only if you get it, later, kokichi makes another sonic reference, saying “faker? I think you’re the fake hedgehog around here!” while he confuses everyone, the dialogue makes the odd choice of stopping on shuichi, even though the dialogue box only includes “…” and nothing else.

chapter 2

if you have unlocked tsumugi’s sonic dialogue and go to the monomono machine, you now have a 5% chance of getting sonic merchandise. if you give this merchandise to kokichi, you get some interesting dialogue. he says “wow, shuichi! how did you know that I grew up playing sonic and that it’s my absolute favorite video game series of all time?” this immediately maxes out all 5 of his friendship fragments, and you can get all 5 of his hangouts without giving him any more presents. you’re probably wondering why this is important, but you will see.

as kaede is now dead, shuichi finds himself horribly alone. while kaito is there and starts calling him his sidekick, the force of protagonist syndrome has caused shuichi to gain the courage to hang out with anyone, including kokichi of course. I don’t need to talk about kokichi’s hangouts. they literally end with “I stole your heart, so now I’m satisfied!” and it doesn’t get gayer than that.

or does it?

if you investigate the bathroom part of ryoma’s lab during this chapter and click on a very specific spot in order to enter one of the stalls, you can click on the toilet 5 times and shuichi will lie down on the floor. while it’s to investigate the underside of the toilet, and there is nothing to be found, the words “kokichi was here” are written on the ceiling above the stall. if you’ve already hung out with kokichi at least once in this chapter, shuichi will sigh and wonder what kokichi is doing right now.

if you’ve given kokichi the sonic merchandise, and you reach kokichi’s final free time event in this chapter, he will actually question shuichi after he finishes bandaging kokichi’s finger up, briefly commenting on how shuichi managed to get close to him so quickly and asking him “what his trick is”. he says “you must like me a whole lot, shuichi. I hope you don’t bail on me after this.” word for word, literally just hear me out.

“kokichi places his warm hand on mine, and I feel like he’s prying much deeper than he usually does.”

“I didn’t think that was possible…”

chapter 3

little did you know, giving kokichi the sonic merchandise unlocked a bonus hangout. yes, you heard me right. a WHOLE bonus hangout. you can hang out with him again whenever you want in this chapter. kokichi only says “good to see you.” you can select yes or no.

the screen will fade to black.

you have used up a free time.

if you have reached this hidden part of kokichi’s relationship sequence, random dialogue that isn’t in the normal game starts getting sprinkled in, as well as certain easter eggs. when angie starts her whole shtick, since you’ve already hung out with kokichi 5 times, there are a few things he has to say straight up, like how he’s going to teach shuichi about cults so shuichi doesn’t accidentally join the student council.

chapter 4

now that you’ve finally reached chapter 4 and activated the secret kokichi pathway, you get a hidden scene, much like the others that are triggered by having specific items in your inventory. in the middle of the night, kokichi breaks into shuichi’s room and shakes him awake, telling him that someone stole his almond milk.

shuichi tells kokichi to shut up and rolls over.

fun fact, if you get the hangout with miu where she checks whether shuichi is a virgin, she does, in fact, say “ha, I can’t believe this!” and if you zoom in the window behind her, you can barely make out kokichi’s face. peering in. watching you. if you click on him at any point during this hangout, you will hear a voice clip of kokichi’s laugh and shuichi will internally respond to miu’s dialogue differently. he will think “miu is the last person I need to know about this…”

in this sonic dialogue route, shuichi responds slightly differently to kokichi revealing that he is the mastermind. although his dialogue is mostly the same, he counts approximately 22 extra crying sprites, implied to be caused by additional heartbreak.

chapter 5-6

these chapters play out mostly the same way until the very end, the only exception being when you’re investigating kokichi’s lab. if you click on kokichi’s throne 13 times, one of the bookshelves will slide out of the way to reveal a hidden bathroom. there is an envelope taped to the wall that says “for my beloved detective, who habitually smacks things over and over.” it says “if you’re reading this, I’m probably dead. or am I? wouldn’t you like to know? nishishi.” shuichi comments about the fact that kokichi literally wrote that stupid laugh out, only to start crying again.

make sure that you have kind lie equipped as one of your skills before you start the final trial.

if you’ve done everything exactly according to plan up to this point, the ending is different.

tsumugi decides to show kokichi’s audition tape instead of kaede’s. he says “I’d love to be a part of danganronpa! I can finally be a bad guy without being scared!” but then kokichi looks directly at the camera. he says “naw, just messing with you. guess who?”

the screen cracks.

kokichi has suddenly entered the scene of the trial. tsumugi looks horrified. her wig falls off. everyone is at a loss for words. suddenly the screens and lights around them start to black out until everyone is left in almost complete darkness.

shuichi finally asks kokichi how he’s alive. he’s like, “you DIED” and kokichi is like “or did I? it’s the grand finale, shuichi! I owe you the truth this one time, because you’re my favorite.” everyone listens intently. “you see, by observing your irrational actions, almost like that of a main character… I was able to conclude that we exist in a fictional world that plays by certain rules. but we all been knew, didn’t we? not quite! someone forgot to test for exploits.” himiko just goes like “what the fuck you smokin?” and kokichi just laughs. “my self awareness has given me more power than you can possibly imagine! let’s just say I learned where the hit boxes are broken and installed a few cheat codes in the meantime!”

“no… that’s impossible! this isn’t supposed to be part of the ending at all!” tsumugi doesn’t like that one bit. she just kinda breaks down crying. shuichi isn’t paying attention to her though. he had accepted oblivion only to be greeted with kokichi being alive. as annoying as kokichi is, they are hopelessly in love. maki is a little disturbed.

after passionately reuniting with shuichi, kokichi says the thing. “this world is mine now, tsumugi! you got nothin on this! it’s time to say goodbye to this trash dump and create a new reality!” tsumugi just kinda goes like “noooo!!!”

everything goes black. shuichi has a vision about entering creative mode. kokichi has opped him. they take hands. “let’s create someplace way more fun.” maki and himiko and keebo look at each other because they’re floating in the background and watching this happen even though it’s supposed to be an internal vision. the screen goes white.

shuichi graces us with some internal protagonist dialogue about how he doesn’t really understand what’s happening anymore or what’s waiting for them outside of this world, but he thinks that things might turn out ok.

after unlocking this ending, you unlock a super secret video that you can view from the main menu. it’s a fully animated video of kokichi and dice dancing to world is mine. this is what they spent all their budget on
