How do you recreate the Hetalia artstyle so well

ok so.. .uhhhhhhhhhh honestly i dont even know how. which is why i am obviously qualified to make YOU, yes you, the person reading this, a tutorial

i psoted an incomplete tutorial on the hetalia art style some few months back and when i look back at it now, some things are just straight up wrong or need clarification (also its the same post where i accidentally sent multiple death threats to a random sex worker thinking they were just a porn bot oopsies) so if you guys still remember that, forget about it! all of it!!! this is a brand new, more accurate guide on how to draw himas style!

(quick warning though im just a weeb not a professional teacher by any means so dont take this as gospel and dont get mad if i got something wrong or something is confusing)

ok lets start off with the

HEADS

this is just the way i start drawing my heads personally. if i had to describe it, its basically a simplified stylized version of the loomis head method. proko has a good video on it! just give that a quick watch then take a look at my step by step guide

but besides this, there are some important things about the head that you should remember

the shape of the head is generally rectangular

compared to more typical ikemen styles, hetalia characters have a more rectangular head. HOWEVER their chins taper off to a very triangular shape. rarely do the chins flatten out like the guy on the left.

2. shorter face = younger/more feminine appearance

well... self explanatory. you can see in the diagram how changing the length of the face gives a character a more feminine/childish look.

if you feel that something looks kind of off, feel free to change it, but if it looks okay then lets move onto facial features!!!

NOSES:

ok so this might seem a little weird but i like drawing the nose first. its right in the middle of the face and is generally the easiest to get right. it also kind of acts as a divider between the eyes, especially useful when you're drawing in a 3/4 angle

which kind of look something like that i guess.....

or that if you want something less extreme

anyways while hetalia noses are kind of inconsistent they generally have the shape of these three lines. feminine/childlike characters have a smaller and subtler nose though

noses also never face fully straight ahead, so when drawing a front view, the nose slightly faces right or left (tbh himas characters rarely face the camera head on, so id refrain from drawing frontal views altogether but thats just me)

anyways lets move on to my second favorite part of the hetalia art style

EYES:

the eyes are the most important part of himas style. if all else fails, you can always recognize the style by the eyes. luckily for you, the eyes really arent complicated compared to other anime styles :D here is how i do it:

(feminine and childlike characters have bigger eyes)

you have probably noticed this but the pupils hima draws now has a more squiggly teary-eyed look compared to the pupils he drew then...

i subcounciously do a mixture of the two because i got used to drawing the old type, but if you wanna draw the new type of pupils just take note of their squigly shape and that they have one dominant highlight in the upper-middle area. uhhh.. or if youre like me just draw the old eyes as if you have parkinson's

anyways heres a step by step guide

and some fun eye variations!!! you can try using variants if youd like to give an oc a more unique look (you can also try making your own variants too but be careful of straying too far from the style)

so now about the eyebrow and the eyelid.... uhhh the eyelid doesnt really have a consistent length so just draw it however. feminine and childlike characters have thinner eyebrows but even then eyebrows should never be drawn as just a single line

we are close to finishing the face!!! now we can move onto

MOUTHS:

if you know how to draw a typical anime mouth, then hima mouths is easy peasy!

for closed mouths just draw a curved line with two dark blots for the corners of the mouth

i think that giving them a shaky look makes them look more expressive

open mouths are just random blobs, dont close off the bottom though, and theys till have those dark blots at the corner of the mouth

now then i'll move onto the

EARS + CHEEKS:

i decided to combine these two since these are probably the easiest parts of the face

hima's ears are pretty round and don't really vary in shape. inside the ears though....

it isnt very consistent, so don't think too hard about "getting them right". above are some ear variations i drew from one of the latest chapters of the manga

the cheeks are just a bunch of lines that can appear fully, or only on one cheek, or don't appear at all. i think it depends on level of detail, angle, or the character's emotion

these lines do not appear on rendered pieces

also if a character feels especially displeased they will gain heavy eyebags

so yay! we're pretty much done with the face!! look forward next time to where i cover hair, the body, and other stuff idk... i'll link the other parts to each other when i complete them

there's definitely a noticeable difference in style/quality of some of these just due to time between each design and/or how i was feeling at the time of drawing them (these hot and rainy summer months have been super rough on me)

ALSO they were all done symmetrically so that i wouldn't burn out and could actually finish them LOL . OK EVERYBODY BELOW

starting off with asta, a husky/coyote mutt!! :D in my au, devil users end up becoming hybrids of whatever their devil is. so since liebe is a coyote, that's what asta is too!! (also, i haven't drawn him yet, but yuno is a malamute :D similar looking breeds but different since they're not actually related!)

then of course, noelle, who's a saluki!! a very regal breed for a very royal gal!! i thought making her pigtails into her ears was a fun idea HEHEHE

here's finral, he's a shetland sheepdog!! gentle and sweet and always trying to herd his people together :) you might notice that with some of my designs, i end up doing extra scarring; that's usually just personal headcanons, as i think some injuries would be too grievous to fully heal. though some (for instance, gauche) don't have a canon story behind them, i just think they're fitting

vanessa, who's a cavalier king charles spaniel!! her ears sorta blend into her hair lol, i had an alternate version where they were the same darker brown as her fur but i decided that them blending in looked better and fit the breed standard as well.

gauche, the ever wary american akita!! being a fiercely loyal and protective breed, but aloof and suspicious of strangers.

then there's grey, who's a long-haired chihuahua!! sweet and skittish HEHE, also i haven't drawn it yet but i've always imagined her big transformation disguise that she's first introduced as to be a rottweiler LOL

next up is luck, a jack russell terrier!! i've always thought this was a very fitting breed pick, intelligent but highly energetic and a little mischievous !!!

and of course, magna is never far behind luck; he's a dobermann pinscher!! similar to luck in energy and intelligence, but even more fiercely protective of his loved ones.

GORDON!!! actually one of my favourite black clover characters, he's a dalmatian not only because of the fitting aesthetic, but also because of his kind and sensitive personality!

the masked supermage zora, a german shepherd! watchful and sometimes stubborn but loyal nonetheless made this pick fairly easy to come to. though, before getting to see more of him, my initial pick was actually a kai ken!

charmy's design is one that i'm the most proud of for sure; i mentioned in an earlier post that the different peoples are different species of animals. well charmy is a half toy poodle, half american badger!! i thought a badger was a VERY fitting pick, as they are generally unbothered by much unless their food is threatened LOL

and finally, lastly (for now) is nero!! she's a bull terrier, but i really wanted to keep her twin tails from her anti-bird form! her outfit is definitely the one i edited the most, i just wanted to give her something more practical out of personal preference.

additionally, henry is an old english sheepdog, nacht is a black norwegian elkhound/fox, and yami is a wolfdog!

I HAVE SOME OTHER CHARACTERS DOODLED HERE AND THERE but nothing else really finished yet. if there's a specific character anyone would like to see i would be SO happy to draw/doodle them to show off!! i honestly have a huge list of dog/cat breeds picked out for every character i could think of; i just am hellishly indecisive and can never pick who to start on next AHDSJAGDJSDK

The past months I have lost my motivation and inspiration to draw. Everything I drew I hated and I was very frustrated with the process of bettering my art skills. Along with that I would also get into the bad habit of wanting to make art for multiple things at once but not knowing what to start with so I would just not start anything at all! So with that I stopped drawing everyday like I used too and started to doodle every once in a while. Only recently am I starting to get my groove back! I’m learning to love and be okay with making bad art again in order for me to move forward with improving my art!!!

Also lately Ive just been trying to focus on bettering myself and my mental health along with focusing on the things that make me happy! So that’s what I’ve been doing in the meantime in this art hiatus! Currently still loving Kpop bands so don’t be surprised if there’s more art to come lol- I’m honestly really happy and excited that I’m gaining my love for drawing back, I absolutely hate when I want to draw but just can’t. With that being said I’m ready to draw all the things I’ve been wanting to no matter if it’s a sketch or a fully rendered piece! I also hope if any of y’all are in an art block or anything like that, know it’s ok to have breaks cause it will be better for you and your art when you are ready to pick up a pencil again! Or at least that’s what I think💕✨

Two, I have a project that I've been dreaming about for years but have actually been able to start working towards in the last couple of months, but to finish it I need to not be living paycheck to paycheck for like a month at the very least, which brings me back to point one :(. Ok now for big Project Time!!!

I am in the process of editing and revising my first Youtube video! This has been an on and off dream of mine for like 7 years at this point, but I've finally taken the plunge and gotten to work on a channel. I wanna talk about all sorts of fandoms (including the riordanverse ofc) With videos ranging from plot and character analysis, to trends in fandom culture in general, to fun little ranking videos and speedpaints. All around, I just want the channel to be a fandom hive, where everyone can find something they enjoy.

I already have PNG's created of my sona to use as assets (And I have a sparkly new sona, the one in the pic above!) and I have two finished scripts, with the first one being fully recorded as well! One for my first video, which will be a retrospective on Gravity Falls, and one for a video about the Percy Jackson TV show, the inherent differences between TV and books as mediums, how I think the TV show could improve, and the things I think it got perfectly. I also have a bunch more ideas, such as:

BIG Trials of Apollo video essay, with a focus on how the books and the fandom have effected me over the years.

Ranking all of my favorite characters from all of the media I've been a fan of over the years (This would be over 70 characters)

Explaining the Iliad, but make it funny (with a side of Troy apologia)

Reading Lore Olympus and pointing out how it deviates from myth (the things I'm willing to do for you people /j)

Canon vs. Fanon, where I compare a characters canon characterization with their fanon counterpart and try to figure out how things turned out the way they did.

And more, but I don't want this post to be 5000 words long.

Now here's the big question. As I said in the part above, I'm struggling a bit now money-wise. And I really wanna make this project work, but there's also, you know. Tuition. Rent. Food. Stupid other adult stuff. So if anyone is amenable (and this is totally up to demand, I don't wanna pressure anyone into doing anything!) I was also thinking of maybe making a Patreon. Now, I'd have to do research for this, bc I wanna make sure anyone who signed up would get the right rewards and really get the bang for their buck. I'm pretty sure there's not gonna be much interest in this rn, cuz like, I'm not that big of a blog oof. But if anyone is interested! Here are some of the perks I would definitely be implementing! So like, for the gravity falls video, I'm gonna record a quick cover of the Disco Girl song from the show. Only a small section of the song would be in each video, but patrons would get access to the full covers, and be able to request songs to be covered.

Discounts on commissions

A monthly speedpaint that would be exclusive to patreon. Patrons would be able to vote on what the drawing would be.

All of these ideas I'm 100% sure I want to add to a patreon if I make one, but obv there could be more that comes up later. I'm just gauging interest on this idea rn, so let me know if that's something you'd be down to sign up for! Maybe I'm jumping the gun here but I'm just really excited to create and give back to the community and aaahhhhh

Now, no matter what, I'm gonna have this first video out by mid-September at the latest. Because stupid money troubles are not gonna stop me from making this a thing dangit. There was a sense of freedom; no more mom putting unnecessary pressure on you (she, of course, kept calling you every now and then but at least it was short and you could more easily avoid her calls, pretexting being busy with studies). No more prying eyes on you to paint and draw whenever you wanted. And the best of it? It was probably your roommate.

The day you moved in and found out that your roommate happened to be a boy, you were appalled. You should have paid more attention when you signed the papers, but you were desperate to find a place to live. Turns out, it was the best outcome. Hyunjin was a nice, quiet (at first, at least) guy. Incredibly pretty too - which you thought was scandalous. No man alive should be allowed to be this pretty. But what made you connect instantly to him was the fact that he was an art student. There was a spare room in your shared flat that he used for his equipment and to paint. This room was definitely the best, most magical place in this flat.

For a week, you managed to hide the fact that you adored this room, that you wanted desperately to spend some time inside but you didn’t know how to ask Hyunjin. You didn’t know how to tell him about your little secret, your wishes, without making him question you and your career’s choice. He found out anyway.

“Instead of staring at the door, you know you can go and use the room. I don’t mind.” Hyunjin commented as you were having your lunch together. Your eyes kept darting to the door.

Startled, your body jolted. You looked at him, caught red-handed. “Wha-what, no, I was just-“

Hyunjin chuckled at your poor attempt to save your face. He finished his meal, brought his plate to the sink and then looked back at you, smiling knowingly. “All I ask is that you show me the result, ok?” He didn’t know what to expect from you but curiosity got the best of him.

And you did. Shyly, you came to him after a whole afternoon of painting (instead of working on your projects). It was liberating. You hadn’t realized how badly you needed to paint, to let your mind take control over your body and share what was deep inside you.

To say that Hyunjin was impressed would have been an understatement. He gasped and stared at you, at the painting before grabbing his bag and shoving yours in your arms. That day, he brought you to his favorite store, helping you to get all the supplies you could possibly need for your secret activities. His enthusiasm and encouragement was what made you friends so quickly.

But despite Hyunjin’s presence, you missed Jisung. Despite the distance and his comforting words, it was hard. You missed spending time together, you missed being able to meet whenever you wanted. You missed being able to touch him, to kiss him. And despite your fears, you trusted him. You trusted that you could overcome anything as long as you were together.

And yet, after only one month, you realized how hard it was. Both of you had clearly underestimated the amount of work waiting for you. With all the projects, all the tests, you had less and less time to call each other. Just like today. It was a long and tiring day with some unplanned tests for which you were clearly not prepared.

You sighed and threw yourself on your bed with your arms spread. Maybe you should have listened to your deepest desires and to Jisung. Maybe becoming a lawyer was not meant for you. It just didn’t feel right, you felt it deep inside you.

Through your despair, you patted your bed in search of your phone. You checked for any messages from Jisung: there was none. You went through your messages, a small smile spread on your face as you read his ‘I love you, I miss you’. God, you wanted to see him so badly.

Would it be completely irresponsible from you to just drop everything and take the first train? It would be, you knew it but still considered. Your mom would definitely disprove your reckless decision but how could you make her understand that you needed him in your life to function properly? But maybe, he would call you crazy too and maybe he would scold you and remind you that it was part of growing up.

The bell rang and brought you back to reality. You checked the time, surprised. Hyunjin mentioned the fact that he would sleep at his friend’s place, having a boys’ night. Did he change his mind? Did he forget his keys?

It rang a second time and this time you forced yourself out of bed, groaning and cursing whoever decided to show up so late and interrupt your depressing moment.

It rang again right when you reached the door. Whoever was behind the door was clearly impatient which only annoyed you to no end. You were ready to share a piece of your mind as you grasped the knob and opened the door.

Jisung. Han fucking Jisung. Your boyfriend was standing, smiling sheepishly at you. “Hi, angel.”

You blinked, once, twice, your brain refusing the sight before you. There was no way your boyfriend was at your place on a Thursday night. Your tired brain was clearly done with you and made you hallucinate. But then, Jisung dropped his bag on the floor and pounced on you, his arms wrapping tightly around you as he lifted you off the ground and spun you around making you yelp in surprise.

“Oh my god. You’re real.” You managed to say as you wrapped your legs around his waist, feeling his warm body pressed against you. Oh yeah. He was definitely real and here.

“Of course, I’m real.” Jisung laughed and pecked your lips. “Surprise!”

And what a surprise. A magnificent, absolutely perfect, surprise ever.

Jisung put you back on the floor, only to grab your face and squished your cheeks. He looked at you with so much fondness and happiness in his eyes, it took your breath away for a second. And you realized, for good, that no, he wasn’t a piece of your imagination, he was really here, holding you, breathing the same air as you. You couldn’t help it as tears gathered in your eyes.

“Oh hey, no, no, don’t cry.” He hurried to say, his thumbs quickly whipping the first tears spilling from your eyes. “Come on, angel.” But you couldn’t stop it. Not after the day you had. Not after spending so much time wishing for him to be with you, to be in your arms, wishing to hear his voice again.

“I missed you so much.” You confessed between two sobs as you wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him. You clung to him as if your life depended on him and on this kiss.

Jisung sighed into the kiss, body completely relaxing with your presence, with your sweet and familiar scent. He had packed his bag on a whim, unable to go through another day without seeing, hearing, kissing you. He needed you to function and he hadn’t realized how bad until the distance forced you to be apart.

“I missed you too.”

On your first ever art class, you get to sit with a guy named Han Jisung.

You felt like you were lucky because he was your type and one of the popular jocks.

Jisung caught your eye the moment you came into the classroom.

As he introduced himself, you were too busy looking at his deep brown eyes.

"So what do you think about me?" he suddenly asked.

You gazed so deep into his eyes that he had to repeat the same question ten times.

He finally got your attention. "So ..? What do you think about me when you first saw me?"

You whispered to yourself, "Cute ..." He didn't hear you so he asked you to repeat it. You went to his ear and whispered, "Dumb."

"Oh ok ... uhm, well I think you're really pretty." You blushed. He noticed it but kept silent.

The teacher started the lesson but it's very hard for you to take your eyes off of him.

"Is this love at first sight?" you asked yourself.

The teacher called you. "You, the new student. Come up here and show me how you draw a portrait of your seatmate."

You hesitated, took a long, deep breath and started drawing Jisung.

The teacher was surprised at your drawing and the time management you had, even Jisung's jaw dropped to the floor.

"H-how did you draw Jisung so quickly?" The teacher asked.

You just went back to your seat and whispered into her ear, "The magician never reveals their secret, that stays the same with artists."

You sat down, tried to be quiet but Jisung can't stop complementing you.

Minutes turned to hours, hours turned to days, days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months.

It has been 2 months since you knew him. That's when you guys finally claim as BFFs.

You felt happy, yet disappointed. You wanted him to be more than friends.

But for the past couple of weeks, he has been very busy. No idea why but thankfully you found another bestie you could rely on.

Her name was Yeji. She was nice. The only weird thing about her was her actions towards Jisung.

Everytime he passes by, you would pat his head and he pats yours.

But ever since Yeji came into your life, she got closer to Jisung, and Jisung got closer to her.

They knew things about each other that you don't even have a clue about.

Moving forward on a day before Valentine's day, you finally had the guts to ask him face to face, "Hi, Jisung, would you like to be my valentine?"

He nodded. You were confused. Why'd he only nod? But you didn't care about that.

Instead you were focused on getting ready for tomorrow.

You rented an expensive dress, got your makeup ready, and went to sleep extra early.

The next morning, you immediately went to wash your hair, dry it, and wear the dress.

You put your last finishes on your makeup and got ready for Valentine's.

You arrived to school. Immediately brusting out tears. Seeing Yeji all dressed up and getting closer to Jisung's lips are killing you.

Your heart dropped. The moment everybody saw you arrived, it was pin drop silence.

Jisung laughed. "Why are you suddenly so dead ass quiet?"

One of the popular jocks pointed his finger straight to you.

Jisung's face went pale. He cleared his throat, "W-what are you doing here?"

You looked down trying to hide your tears and replied, "I am your valentine stupid. But it looks like you got a new one."

He looked at you like you were his stalker. "SINCE WHEN?!"

"SINCE YESTERDAY! I ASKED YOU IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE MY VALENTINE AND YOU NODDED!"

He gulped. Hard.

"But didn't I tell you that my valentine is Jiji?" He said.

"OH MY FUCKING GOD, NEVER! WHO IS THIS MOTHERFUCKER 'JIJI' ANYWAYS?"

He pointed to Yeji. You felt bad. But mostly furious. You were the one who made friends with him and even opened up to him.

You were hoping for him to give you a nickname. Anything else but your name.

But instead, he gave Yeji a nickname ...

Remember when I imagined that December was gonna be "sci-fi epics and finishing ongoing series" month? As if I've ever had spare time to read in December? Yeah, file that away under "hilarious jokes by G."

In between all the family obligations and grass-touching (SO much grass-touching) I did manage to read 4 volumes of Saga, so... sort of managed to keep to the sci-fi epic theme? I also had a very bookish time at the Denver Art Museum's exhibit on Maurice Sendak (10/10 definitely recommended if you can get to it; so much creative inspiration and insight on storytelling + art!)

Saga (volumes 2-5) ★★★★☆ - Continues to deliver. I feel like every single character design started out as a "wouldn't it be cool if?" And the answer is yes, yes it would be cool if. Story-wise, it's going in directions I never expected—I can't believe how many more volumes there are. How is that possible when Hazel is aging faster than frickin Renesmee? Here's hoping we follow her well into old age and get nursing home drama.

A Memory Called Empire ★★★★1/2 - Everyone told me it was good and y'all were right. Thematically, conceptually, philosophically, I was picking up everything this book was putting down. Since when are plots so engrossing that the lesbianism is just a nice little bonus? I want a dozen more of these.

Garlic and the Vampire ★★★★☆ - A cute little middle-grade graphic novel I picked up after spotting it in Beastly Books in November. Not much to say other than "it was cute!" I like how tiny the vegetable characters are.

Beauty ★★★★☆ - A reread for book club! I think I liked it better this time around? At least, after reading Rose Daughter, I can appreciate the relative succinctness and tighter plotting (relative term) of Beauty. My favorite part is still the regular ole cottagecore struggles of being the Village Blacksmith's Family. Like yes girl tell me more about how you learned to bake bread or whatever

DNFs: I tried to read Jade City at the beginning of the month and just couldn't get into it—a combination of being too busy and having my attention span shot to hell, I think. I've tentatively shelved it as "maybe some other time when I'm in the right mood." What do you guys think, is it worth picking back up?

I started January off with a vacation involving many planes, car rides, and lounging around the beach because the waves were too rough to swim—ideal reading conditions! I doubt I'll beat last January's total of 14 books, but then again I'm already 7 books in (and just started #8, The Lies of Locke Lamora), so... maybe? We'll see if I get snowed in again lol

Hi Amethyst! It's been a hot minute since I sent an ask in, but I have been reading both fics every day (still obsessed lmao) (also I name changed btw, used to be ElenaLoo)

Anyways, I had written a whole ask waxing eloquent on all the wonderful things going on in ttsbc, but I accidentally shut off my computer partway through and frankly I can't be bothered to write it all out again lmao. Just. It's beautiful (wow isnt that so meaningful and deep? im sure you're feeling very complimented rn)

The REAL thing I wanted to talk about was Traveling thieves (which is by far my favorite fanfic of ALL TIME), and all the amazingness in ttsbc made me forget it even existed for the past few weeks. But the other day I was just like "oh yeah. Traveling thieves." and then i reread the whole thing. whoopsies.

Ummm anywyas there's so many thoughts in my head about all the little guys, but recently I've been on an Imp and Skizz obsession (just scroll on my page for .2 seconds and you'll see) and YOU. You left them on a CLIFFHANGER. >:((( (not actually mad btw). I just. so excited for them. They're out alone in the woods right now and Skizz is going to have the perfect opportunity to kill Impulse and get away and I just am falling apart thinking about them. (I drew them to cope lol, posted on my blog but also later here so that I can talk about it more). I can see this playing out a few ways. Obviously Skizz isn't actually going to kill Impulse, so he's either going to 1) make up some excuse as to why he can't do it right then, but still plans to do it eventually, or 2) he does it. but he doesn't. Skizz attacks Impulse when he's not expecting it, there's a scuffle, and Skizz comes out on top---BUT THEN HE CAN"T FINISH IT!!! and it's a whole thing where even tho skizz tried to kill him, imp is still so understanding and skizz cries and impulse just freaking gives him a hug and

Whatever you do will be beautiful, I'm sure. I think you mentioned you're switching to tt after this fic, so crossing my fingers it's imp and skizz. (Though, would also be very happy with Martyn and Ren :P) (or anything really i just love tt)

Anyways, I had the art on my blog but I'm also putting it here so i can say things about it to you

Mostly I'm just very proud of their expressions, with Impulse being all concerned glancing over at Skizz, meanwhile Skizz is completely deadpan staring forwards, also looking very tired bc he needs a break from this universe. Also I switched up my Impulse design a lil bit from last time (if u even remember that lol it was months ago now). you would think, just looking at them, that Impulse took way longer to design, but nope, I was messing around with Skizz for at least double the time, trying to figure out how to have him facing forward whilst still showing some of the scars on his back. I gave up eventually xD (all that means is that im gonna have to draw him again later, from different angles)

actually that made me remember a question I had: are you planning to ship Imp and Skizz? Ik you said Zed and Tango are going to be a thing far in the future, but... skizzpulse? plzzzz plz pretty please haha im not obsessed

aaaaaand that reminds me of another question, is skizz going to be in ttsbc? (pretty please also same question as tt, if he was in ttsbc, are him and impulse together? Im addicted to them all i care about these days is some good imp and skizz shipfics, and you're such a fantastic writer, both with plot and the vibes of the words themselves. u could write such good imp and skizz. just imagine the possibilites! (am i selling it?))

Hey, do you have any tips for completing art pieces?

I can't finish anything I start and I really like ur works, so I was wondering to see how you do it.

ive been writing a reply to this ask over the course of months, its a really hard question to answer

i lend a lot of weight on making my pieces kindove tasty to look at, utilizing interesting and fun colors is both fun to do and produces an effect most people find appealing to the eyes (the amount of comments i receive on people wanting to eat my art is insane).

fuck around with color theory n shit. also use patterns those are fun. get silly? its crafts time not a job (unless it is then idk thats scary)

also like, be generous with what is "done". sometimes a finished thing is a sketch with only the eyes colored in. sometimes its a shiny shaded piece with a background and all that jazz. dont force a piece, that'll make you miserable and that is the opposite of the goal.

i am always going to suggest doing weird shit with shapes too. shape language is a lovely fun thing to play with, it can make it more fun to actual work on the piece and help you play around with your own style into something novel.

dont worry about conforming to any specific art style, if anything please feel free to try and pick up on different art styles to practice different ways of doing things. if you hate shading find a new way to shade (i.e., rather than shading w colors how about you do hatching?) experiment, try new stuff, try new programs, try new mediums, get sillayyy.

also take care of your health and make sure youre getting enough nutrients and vitamins and water and sunlight and rest ok love u kisses ur forehead friendly style

also im using this post as an excuse to compile misc stuff i did this year to share with u guys. thanks so much for all the amazing beautiful sweet people ive met on here. you are all so so cool.
