okok so she doesn't know about him being a famous criminal and she finds him like super aesthetically pleasing, like his looks, the scars etc. yk. He seems very interesting to her.

In her eyes, all about him is a piece of art and he's like super impressed by her talent and her kindness.

 And so they chat a little and then he asks her for her NUMBER AND WHEN SHE GETS HOME SHE IMMEDIATELY RECEIVES A MESSAGE FROM HIM, ASKING IF SHE'D GO OUT ON AN ART MUSEUM DATE!?!? AND THEN THEY GO ON A FUCKIN' ART MUSEUM DATE TOGETHER?!?!

or she sees him while she's painting and she thinks he's so breathtakingly pretty that she paints him and when she's finished, she confidently walks over to him and hands him the painting and then the rest happens?!?! 

omg I have to make this a one shot, I'm crying-

and when they're together, they move in together and he especially picked out an apartment with an extra room, so that could be her own little atelier?

And when he's exhausted from "work", he likes to make them both a coffee and watch her paint for fuckin' HOURS, or, if she doesn't paint in that moment, they snuggle up with blankets on the couch together and watch art documentaries until they fall asleep?!?! 

If they watch documentaries about artists, she often starts crying, either because their lifes were so tragic, or because their art is so pretty. Mostly both. Jerome gets all confused then but adores his girlfriend for being so empathetic and how such things can impact her or make her feel in such a way. 

And sometimes when they both have time, they go out together and they pick out a nice place to paint. Sometimes those are places which either her or him find very beautiful and then she paints them on like cafe or picnic dates (depends on the place) and he collects all those drawings and paintings and keeps them in kind of a collection folder or he goes and gets them framed so he can put them up on the walls of their living room or kitchen?

From time to time he even asks her, if she could paint him (she does that so often, he's kind of like her muse) or he asks if they could paint together and if she could teacch him some techniques. 

He also asks her to explain the painting tools she uses to him. 

"What the fuck is gouache YN?"

"Why would you use a spatula? And then even in 12 different sizes."

" What do you sketch the little squares for?"

"What does the 'HB' on your pencil mean?"

It's so funny and adorable to her, how interested he is in her hobby. It's so cute.

Oh and he randomly brings you stuff, even if he doesn't know what it's for.

"Hey YN! I just came back and guess what I brought you? A palette of aquarelles! I can't really tell the difference between watercolors and this, but the palette was so small and cute, I had to get it for you."

Food for thought: everyone makes human Vox tall....but what if the dude was short? Like, 5'5 or 5'4? And Alastor was 6'2? And if the two were changed back into their human forms (but still had their demon powers) Vox is just...short. yes, he's beautiful, with his mismatched eyes and a streak of pure white hair (that he used to dye red in the human world) amongst his dark navy hair, but he's short. He doesn't even have any brawn to level the playing field--he's scrawny as well. Alastor finds it delightful. Finds his muse delightful--and beautiful, but he always knew Vox was beautiful as a human. Why wouldn't he be?

i always thought of human vox as having like, a generally tall but very lithe sort of figure, sort of like stolas from hb. maybe not 6'2" tall but 5'10 or so? but hes so thin that he's got a thigh gap in human form too :') i imagine he would have to have some muscles, but like the lean kind that you develop as an actor because you dont want the whole bulging vein kind but the kind that lets you do weird stunts instead of having to sub in doubles. still the appeal of a small vox is so appealing to me.... AUWGDHAJ

that last sentence reminded me so much of my beloved wenzhou btw (woh/faraway wanderers). just every time that wen kexing gives a backhanded compliment about zhou zishu with something like 'oh, he must be beautiful under [the ugly skin mask he's wearing to disguise himself as a peasant]! only a beautiful person would do something so stupid :)' and thats how i imagine alastor acts with vox. like 'oh he must have been gorgeous in life, only a beautiful person would act so fucking stupid and think they can get away with it'. and hes fucking right

AAAA ok this was back when I was first getting back into tumblr after a several year hiatus. I had this version of Gerudo Link I really wanted to write; this was when BOTW was fresh on the market and muses from the game were spreading across the RP-space like butter on hot toast. I made a whole blog and everything, I even think back to it now and I still get some old feelings of 'OH YEAH BRUH THAT WOULD BE SICK' because I really like the idea of what if he was raised within the gerudo village as a woman but still ended up becoming the chosen hero like we see in the game. It makes me sad I was never able to fully explore that, but that doesn't mean I can't now? I still have yet to play TOTK because I still technically haven't beaten the first game and my neurosis is being neurotic.

Other muses that are more recent are Muichiro, Beelzebub from the Hellava Boss series, and Mash from Mashle: Of Magic & Muscles. Mash is honestly my most recent comfort character and I relate to him on so many levels. I also think it would be funny as fuck to throw him at other muses just to see what happens because his whole premise is this: "Autistic gym rat gets into wizard school because his strength basically allows him to do magic. Local ballistics and wizards are bamboozled by his rizz."

Muichiro.. I'm hesitant because he started as a HC/AU version of him and I truly don't know if I could do a 'standard' of him justice. I will admit however, I do have strong hesitancy about writing HH/HB Beelzebub just because of the inherent drama that exists in the fandom even if you simply mention the name. And after some discord convo's with a friend, I'm honestly chomping at the bit to write Bee. Thing is, I am a humble creature who lives under a rock and exists only when summoned. I usually don't interact with fandoms and just try to vibe with my friends/mutuals when I do have the energy to write. The last thing I want to do is make people uncomfortable, but this is the internet, I cannot win every battle.

Lastly, I've been wanting to get into writing my OC's more. Ones that yall don't know about. My friends have been telling me they deserve more love and should be revamped bc they are very much overdue considering the last art I did of most of them them was 6 years ago.

Can...can we stop making every other word in HB a swear word? It makes sense for some characters, like Blitz and Loona, for them to be super profane, sure - but there are some characters who it just does not fit. It basically ruined any chance of me taking Paimon seriously, IMO.

I'm...sort of wary when someone has an established pattern of picking up a new muse as soon as a new episode airs. Like, I know, I'm working on Crim right now, but - look, there were some people trying to write fucking Loopty Goopty when the Cherub ep dropped, alright? There's a point where it's not just "oh yeah, this character happened to speak to me" and it becomes "I have a compulsive need to add a new muse as soon as they're introduced".

Valkyrie Brunnhilde (VB) has seen multiple worlds and knows that cruelty, beauty, wonder, hope, joy - and the range of emotions that each world might have the capacity for - vary wildly. She views her world, that which she shares with her sisters, as something sacred. It is unique to them and their experience; one where they do not know their childhoods. One where their lives started with a death. But, in this world she is used as a tool for others. Few know her - or even want to know her - beyond her power. It makes her world lonely. It makes her angry. Human Brunnhilde (HB): Like VB, HB has been used as a tool for a greater purpose since before she could remember. She even went to pre-school on an Air Force base. Like VB, she was told that she was made to do something; and then was given power to do it. Power, procedure, direction... etc. But choice? Its a grey area. She views the world as wonderful and marvelous; and she loves the arts. Literature, theatre, cinema, art, poetry, food, travel, language, music - all these things nourish her soul. She wants to view the world as all of those things, but does not know how to make a life of it. Like VB, world view is wide and wonderful but her reality is narrower. So, like VB, she can be resentful. She can be rebellious. Both versions of Brunnhilde are open-minded about the world and its people. Both are proud and stubborn and fierce. Both feel shackled to something. Both would do anything to be free of that.

In all verses, she both loves and hates Odin. He gave her power and life and the ability to fly; as a Valkyrie, as a pilot... he gave her riches beyond measure, access to knowledge, skills to hone, and resources to utilize. She appreciates all of that. She hates him, though. Oh, fuck - she hates him to the point where she could be the wolf of Ragnarok herself to bring him down. He robbed her of her memories. Of love, of lives, she was never given the opportunity to live. Instead, she is a tool for his power. To an extent, Brunnhilde hates Frigga too. As a Valkyrie, she is an adopted mother. As a human, she is a real mother. In both verses - Frigga has not stopped Odin from denying Brunnhilde the opportunity to dictate her own life. While Frigga has Brunnhilde's love, there has been very little support there.

Brunnhilde is a collector of gentler, daintier things. As a Valkyrie, she has a cabin filled with music, art, sculptures, books ... from her adventures. She hordes them like treasures. Human Brunnhilde is much the same; her apartment is a mix of things she finds beautiful or striking - things that have moved her. Both versions believe that art and culture are the keys to a life well lived. She cares deeply for those she loves, and would give her life for them. It does not matter if things are destined to wither and disappear; it makes them no less worthy to Brunnhilde. In fact, she one day hopes to wither and disappear herself - or to go somewhere that is not Valhalla. If that is where the lovely things in her life go - to nothing (and then maybe on to something else) - then she would like to go with them.

The Radio Demon was no stranger to injuries. Both minor and major. Due to his reputation, he was often marked as a target. This time, however, he had merely been caught in the crossfire.

Blood was already staining his skin, a hand covering both his nose and mouth in an attempt to stop the rapid stream of crimson, originating from his nose.

"Hmm? Oh, this? Oh, I got caught in a brawl a little while back. Simply a matter of walking in at the wrong time~" He'd reassure the stranger.

On what #bringelsahome COULD BE vs. what it has become...

Sometimes, I become sad because one of the first things I wrote after viewing Frozen 2 was a short ficlet repudiating Elsa’s line in Show Yourself as she was approaching Ahtohallan that “I’m arriving / and it feels like I am home.” You can read that ficlet here if you want to.

In that ficlet, I was expressing frustration with the fact that Show Yourself was connecting the concept of “home” with Ahtohallan and connections found through memory and the past instead of the living, breathing connections that can be found in life. In that ficlet, I was also disputing the film’s concept of change because, as I wrote, “Home is not a lineage, a source, a gift. Gifts are given. Home, you make for yourself. Each step, a step forward. Not into the cold ancestral wonder of Ahtohallan, but into the warmth of the future. Holding tight to those she loved was not the absence of change. It was change itself, each day carving out a new shape, a new bejeweled crystal more fabulous than any on the glacier.” And I ended that ficlet repudiating Ahtohallan and having Elsa turn back to the home she has made in Arendelle with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven. It was a ficlet born deeply out of my love of this image:

Now, the scary thing for me now is that there are parallels between my sentiments then and the... what do I call it? aggressive stance?... to #bringelsahome, which is rather unpleasant for me because that aggressive stance has become an excuse for racism and toxicity which I absolutely do not want to be associated with.

 But I’ve been thinking about something that @themountainsays mused about, and that @hb-pickle​ added to, asking what the ultimate goal of #bringelsahome actually is - because if the most hostile people actually wanted to change people’s minds or reach the creators, all they’ve managed to do is burn bridges and undermine their own cause.

I mean, look at me, when it comes to them burning bridges. I have conflicting feelings about F2′s ending and I’ve offered critiques of it - but the loudest members of #bringelsahome won’t look at those critiques because I openly reject the racism and toxicity that they push forward. 

But at the same time, there’s also a part of me that... understands where the basic sentiment to “bringelsahome” comes from and that’s gotten me to thinking about what #bringelsahome could be vs. what it has become.

I have friends who remain devastated by the ending of Frozen 2, and most of these friends have largely left the Frozen fandom either because they simply want to move on to other pastures or, even though they dislike Frozen 2, they’d rather not have any association with BEH - which... can you blame them?

But the pain of these friends, a pain they do not express in a toxic way, speaks to what #bringelsahome could be if it wasn’t rotted to the core by this point by racist rhetoric and aggression.

That pain actually emerges from a deep connection to Elsa and a valuing of Elsa’s connections to other people. These friends I’ve spoken with often reference a deep anguish that Elsa’s journey in Frozen 2 is structured so that she sheds traveling companions across the whole adventure - leaving Kristoff behind, leaving Anna and Olaf behind, going it alone when there is strength in working together and shorts like Frozen Fever and OFA highlight how when this found family works together, it has a positive impact on Elsa.

They wanted to see Elsa trusting Anna’s judgment, not pushing Anna and Olaf away in the ice boat, not falling into the same mistakes she did in the past... and their pain was heightened by the fact that, when Elsa seemed to fall back into those same mistakes, the film never really circled back to that or addressed it again... even when the film went out of its way to point out that Anna and even Olaf was angry. 

And... yes, it’s valid to say that Olaf - the most innocent and childlike character - becoming angry feels like a turning point of some kind... which then goes nowhere and that the film does nothing with. That’s a valid criticism of something that feels disjointed and off about F2.

And... I’d even argue that it’s valid to say that Elsa feels off at times over the course of Frozen 2 - and I’d put that down to, well, Elsa being “too much” for Disney. She means too many things for too many people. Her basic metaphor resonated with countless people - more than Disney ever imagined - and now they have to preserve that popularity, but the writers are trapped within the incredibly restrictive Disney system. They can’t make Elsa openly gay because the Mouse loves making money and making money means appealing to the broadest crowd, including the homophobes. And they want to keep Elsa broadly relatable so they try to lean into he concept of “magic” as an aspect of Elsa’s difference and also “explaining” that magic because certain people wanted an “explanation” for Elsa. 

But the problem with that vague (and therefore, in the film’s hope, broadly relatable) magic metaphor is that it’s vague and, unlike the previous movie, not really tethered to Elsa’s connections with people. The first movie, while it still used the metaphor of “magic as difference” grounded that metaphor in Elsa’s interactions with her sister, with the people of Arendelle, with how other human beings interact with her and the deeply human aspect of Elsa’s love for those other human beings. Frozen 2, in contrast, could have that... but it doesn’t.

I’ve argued several times over that Elsa’s arc in F2 would be stronger if the filmmakers had deeply enriched Elsa’s connection with the Northuldra, gave us more scenes of her bonding with her mother’s people, more scenes that expanded the Northuldra characters’ development. Maybe even start the film out with the deleted prologue focused on Iduna so we get the Northuldra’s perspective right fom the start and we can connect Iduna’s pain with Elsa’s own feeling of otherness.

Frozen 2... only gives a few brief scenes of Elsa with the Northuldra and has her shed members of her found family across the film... so F2 loses a human element that he first film never lost sight of. The “magic-as-difference” metaphor has to work more as metaphor, without the same human emotional grounding as the first film.

And because we don’t get those scenes with Elsa and the Northuldra and the film chooses to have Elsa leave behind members of her found family, I can understand why people would feel Elsa feels off in F2.

Because the film seems to care more about Elsa’s connection to magic than her humanity. That’s why there are several incidences of Elsa bonding with the spirits - and far less of her bonding with Northuldra characters.

This actually speaks to a legitimate, valid critique of the film - and people could use it to point out flaws in the film. Moreover, a critique like this could even be antiracist because it would be advocating for the expansion of the role of the Northuldra and more scenes of Elsa bonding with and learning about her mother’s people.

Critique actually has an important place within fandom - and critique can actually benefit the filmmakers if it is valid and valuable critique. Asking, “Why does F2 seem to care more about Elsa’s magic than her humanity and how does that undermine her arc?” is actually a valuable question. If the filmmakers reflected on it, then in a potential Frozen 3, they could make sure to reject the negative implications of distancing Elsa’s humanity. They could pause to think, “Oh, we didn’t INTEND to suggest this, maybe, but our second film did kind of give those implications, so let’s avoid those implications next time.” By EXPANDING the Northuldra characters. By reinforcing Elsa legitimately working together with her found family instead of feeling she has to go on alone.

That’s what bringelsahome could be - a movement to point out flaws in the film and a better way forward for the betterment of future projects.

Unfortunately, that’s not what it is - since the racism of certain people at its forefront has corroded it from the inside.

But I still find that tragic, because... it could have actually been something valuable. And there are aspects to it that still could be something valuable. And I still know many people out there with legitimate critiques who can’t voice their feelings about F2 because they disagree with Isa’s racism, so it doesn’t matter to Isa if they dislike F2; in her eyes, you’re either with her or against her...
