Someone: calls Kar a dinosaur
Kar: 🤓☝️ Um actually 'dinosaur' would denote an avian ancestry, as all nonavian dinosaurs have no modern relatives. As I am classified as a sea dragon, therefore an aquatic reptile, it would be more accurate to call me a 'mosasaur', whose modern relatives today are monitor lizards and snakes...

[[OKAY PREFACING THIS I KNOW STAR WARS IS NOT HARD SCIENCE FICTION AND MORE SPACE OPERA.
BUT. LET ME RAMBLE.]]
Tanalorr is counted as a planet inside the Koboh system but like the astrophysics behind it is wonky as hell? Like the Abyss acts more like an interdimensional pocket than a nebula? One it's VERY close to the star system for a nebula and second to be part of the star system, it would have be in the star's orbit. Tanalorr doesn't orbit around the Koboh star, clearly.
Yet, there's the day/night cycle that exists? That would hint that it does have some star-- and it could very well have it's own sun IN the nebula itself-- then it would be its own star system.
Planets can also pass through nebulae, but like it seems Tanalorr doesn't pass through the nebula, it's inside it, and nebulae don't orbit suns. They can be around a star though-- but that would mean Koboh and the shattered moon would also be inside the nebula.
Another thing is somehow Tanalorr is gravitationally locked in the Abyss, and somehow still revolves but doesn't orbit, like a top kept in place forever, because it somehow stopped the orbit but not acted upon the inertia of the rotation to keep the planet spinning. Which doesn't make sense either! It would be inert, and have no day/night cycle...
So my take is the Koboh Abyss is some sort of dimensional rift, but appears to be nebula-like, and Tanalorr is in its own pocket dimension with it's own star to orbit and the like. That's the only way I can just make sense of it without claiming space magic Force bullshit.

It's also funny 'cause like just being on Yavin like:
Random Rebel: Oh yeah, that's General Alor'ade, she runs our intelligence
Kar: giant caf in in hand, datapad in the other, hasn't slept in like the last 48 hours, somehow smoking three cigarettes at once, just exuding an aura of seething hatred and violence that screams I dare you to make eye contact. I wish a motherfucker would.
And if it's after Alderaan well of course she wants to go full Aldo Raines on anyone in an Imperial uniform and cut a bloody swath of vengeance across the galaxy despite knowing it's not what her husband would have wanted. But it feels good to slide back into those, familiar bad habits and go back to her old ways which is probably concerning but there's a war on and that rage can be funneled towards the enemy so they can overlook the fact she's skinning the Imperial spy they interrogated like a rabbit just to feel something again I guess.

the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.

It will never not baffle me how hard society tries to insist that fatness is an abnormality. The average western woman wears plus size clothing. One of the smallest garments on the scale is called a medium. Most people with anorexia are in the overweight bmi category, yet somehow that's known as "atypical anorexia". Fatness is often labeled the cause of a number of diseases, but there are literally no diseases exclusive to fat bodies. Looking at movies and television, you'd think the world was 98% thin people. It's not.
My point isn't that if it was pretty rare to be fat, fatphobia would be okay. Of course not.
My point is that we're surrounded by all these artificial indicators that fatness is unnatural and uncommon and it's just not true?? Humans are not always thin and we've never all been thin and we're not all meant to be thin. Fat humans are a normal type of human. Fatness is a feature, not a bug.

Don't get me wrong, I don't give two shits about the English Royal Family, but this PR crisis they're in right now is just wild. Every time you think they're done digging themselves deeper, they haul another bucket of shit up from the bottom of the well they're in.

Aren't plushies beautiful? They were created so a sick child had something to hold. They were created so an adult living alone might have a friend to keep them company. They were created for a teenager to clutch to her chest as she cries. They were created to accompany a college student to his geology classes. They were created not for any material benefit, they don't change tires, but to be loved.
They were created for the purpose of love.
