Professor Trein: I've never seen your classmates- I mean, your students this behave.
MC: They just value their lives, professor.
Cerberus: Grrr...
MC: Oh. Is there anyone trying to cheat?
Random student: !!! *immediately rips off his cheat sheet*
MC and Professor Trein: ...
Professor Trein: Can I borrow Cerberus for my history class later?
MC: Sure thing, professor. But how about, Lucius?
Cerberus: Grrr...
MC: Aww~ Look at you, Cerberus! You're such a good boy! Be good to Professor Trein and his cat, hm? I'll play with you together with Lucifer after you finish your task. *pets him*
Cerberus: *wags his tail*
The students: *thinking* Curse Crowley...
Barbatos: Great work, MC. Here's your Hell Coffee.
MC: Thanks. *takes a sip* Ah.
MC: So bitter.
Barbatos: *chuckles* It's more bitter than before, isn't it?
MC: *smiles* Yes. *then their face saddens*
Barbatos: Is there something wrong?
MC: I just missed Luke and Simeon.
Barbatos: Hm. Then why not invite them here?
MC: ...
Barbatos: Don't tell me you have forgotten that you possess the power of the Ring of Light?
MC: ...
MC: *facepalm* Yes.
Barbatos: *chuckles* I figured. Now, don't sulk and enjoy your recess.
MC: Thank you, Barb.
MC: Vil... What are you doing here?
Vil: I've heard from your demon butler that you are turning yourself into an angel to gain access to this Celestial Realm.
MC: Yes?
Vil: I must see what you will look like, potato.
MC: ...
MC: Okay. I think it'll be fine if you're the only spectator- Lilia, what are you doing here too?
Lilia: Same reason. *while holding a camera*
MC: ...
MC: Whatever.
Solomon: *chuckles* You're famous even here, huh?
MC: More like infamous, but yeah. Anyway, Sol? Mind lending me a hand?
Solomon: No problem. *uses magic to change them*
Vil and Lilia: *in awe; also Lilia not forgetting to snap pictures*
MC: Okay! I'm ready to get my baby!
Solomon: And your other husbando.
MC: Right. *breathes in*
MC: I am the magician, MC…Ring of Light! Heed my words! Open the way forward and create a path where there was none!
MC: Unlock the Gates of the Celestial Realm!
Vil: Ugh... Everything is bright! I can't see a thing!
Lilia: Good thing I have my sunglasses.
Vil: *frowns*
*The light disappears after a few seconds and MC as well*
Solomon: Yup. I'm sure they are in the Celestial Realm right now.
MC: ...
Simeon: ...
MC: *ended up straddling him*
Simeon and MC: *both blushes in embarrassment*
MC: I am sorry!
Simeon: *chuckles* I thought for a second that I had committed a sin.
MC: Come on now. You're calling me a sin?
Simeon: *chuckles again* No. I mean, I have been thinking of you for a while.
MC: *smiles* Sorry for being gone. I got into some sort of... unexplainable event.
Simeon: Oh?
MC: By the way, is Luke here? I'm here to invite you and him to this new world I'm living in.
Simeon: Is it similar to Devildom?
MC: No. It's a bit similar to the human world, except with magicians.
Simeon: Oh. *smiles* We would love to be there.
MC: Great!
*Back to Twisted Wonderland*
Diavolo: Simeon! Luke! I'm so glad to see you again!
Simeon: *chuckles* We're glad to see you too, Diavolo.
Luke: Yeah!
Lucifer: I'm surprised you easily got permission, MC.
MC: What permission?
Lucifer: ...
Simeon: MC snatched Luke in front of Michael. *laughs*
Luke: *giggles* It was fun when the other angels started to chase us!
Lucifer: ...
Lucifer: MC, why you-
MC: It's my parental rights, Lucifer.
Lucifer: ...
Malleus: That is your son, child of man?
MC: Yes! Isn't he adorable?
Luke: *staring at Malleus and wondering if he's a demon*
Malleus: How old is he?
MC: Um. He's ten. Yes. He's ten years old.
Luke: *pouts* MC! I'm over a thousand years old!
Malleus: ...
Malleus: What? You are older than me? *squints his eyes*
MC: Mal, don't. *knows that he's judging his height*

ꨄ︎ this man is head over heels for you, kissing the ground you walk on type of energy. golden retriever & black cat couple. his friends frequently joke that you wear the pants in the relationship but he doesn’t care about anyone’s opinion— he feels like the luckiest man alive. “i’m her bitch? hell yeah i am.”
ꨄ︎ he feels so proud when you stick up for him, especially against the kooks. he’s ready to fight anyone that disrespects him but before he gets the chance, you’re already putting them in their place. he proudly watches you with the biggest smile on his face, letting you do your thing. “that’s my girl.”
ꨄ︎ doesn’t mind being submissive for you in the bedroom. calls you ‘mommy’ sometimes and lets you take control whenever you want to— it’s so fucking hot to him. he loves it when you praise him while you’re rocking your hips back and forth on his cock, whispering in his ear what a good boy he is.
ꨄ︎ he’s completely obsessed with you. always taking candid pictures of you and setting them as his lockscreen. his instagram page is filled with you as well, whether it’s the two of you together or just you alone. he’s literally your biggest fan and hypeman. “turn your head juuuust a bit to the left mamas, need to get that highlighter on camera.”
ꨄ︎ this man does anything for you. and with anything i mean anything. you ask for it and he will get it, no matter what. “oh, you think that puppy is cute? alright, ma’am. gimme three… maybe four working days and a puppy will be delivered right to your door step.” “j, that’s not wha-“ “sssh, just lemme make my girl happy.”
ꨄ︎ poor baby gets so sad when you get attention from men. he refuses to talk to you for an hour and will pout and sulk all day with his arms crossed. “he totally wanted to fuck you babe” “don’t be stupid, he was the goddamn waiter!” “so? doesn’t mean he didn’t wanna fuck you. did you see the way he looked at you when he served us those burgers?!”
ꨄ︎ you’re very protective of him and you make sure luke won’t ever lay a finger on jj again. jj spends most of his time at your house because he feels so at ease there, but if he needs to grab something from his house, you always go with him. if it escalates, you will have jj’s back before it gets out of hand. "listen, 'cause I'm only gonna say it once. touch him again and you're gonna be in big fucking trouble, got it?”

Hi can I please get “No more dogs. How hard it it to understand?” With Luke Hughes like he comes home from a roadtrip and reader gets another dog
oh my gosh I swear this happened to one of my friends in real life except it was me who was like "no more pets." In a year her and boyfriend went from 0 animals to 4 dogs and 4 cats. I just get overstimulated going to their house. I hope this is what you wanted because as someone who loves both cats and dogs and really all animals I had to end it this way.
Drabble Materlist
"No more dogs. How hard is it to understand?"
When you met Luke you already had a dog who was like your first born child. He was the first pet you ever got on your own and you loved him with everything. To say this dog was spoiled would be the same thing as saying the sky is blue, it was fact and everyone knew it. But that didn't stop you nor Luke when he moved in with you.
Thankfully your dog loved Luke but you noticed more and more how sad your dog became when Luke was on roadies. He was probably just feeding off into your energy because you did miss Luke tremendously when he was away.
So you did the only logical thing you could think of you went to your local shelter with your two-year old husky and adopted another dog. It made sense because you actually found got your first dog when you were going through a hard time and he helped bring you happiness. So it only made sense to get another dog now.
Luke and you had both talked about possibly getting another dog so you didn't feel bad about not talking to him first. At the shelter was a beautiful 6 month year old Bernese Mountain Poodle mix, as soon as you saw him you knew he was coming home with you. That night Luke came home and you surprised him with the new addition to your little growing family.
"Luke i have a surprise for you." you exclaimed as he didn't look up at you yet still barely two steps in the door as your dog was already attacking him begging for Luke's undivided attention.
"oh yeah?" he asked the happiness he felt from finally being home, radiating in his voice. He finally looked up and saw you were holding your new puppy. Luke's mouth was left ajar as he starred at you in shock before his brain processed what was happening.
"Is he ours?" he asked as he slowly started to approach you, your dog still barking excited about what was happening.
"hmmm. I got him today, at the shelter." As you watched Luke slowly take the puppy out of your arms and into his own.
"What's his name?"
"I haven't named him, I wanted to do it together." you shyly admitted.
"What if we fuck with Quinn and name him Huggy?" he asks, somehow a wider smile on his face. "you know cause he's so cuddly and Quinn's had been chirping me a lot during off season?"
"whatever you want honey." As you both crawled on the floor to play with your new puppy.
"But no more dogs okay? We only have a two bedroom apartment and I don't even think were allowed to have a second pet with our lease." He says seriously, all you do is nod because you don't need any more animals.
Well, until it was a 3 months later and you had a really hard week at work and Luke was away again. You told yourself you were just gonna go to the shelter to play with some puppies and not get any. But then you found a little kitten that looked adorable and so scared. The little guy reminded you so much of the kitten you were growing up. Of course you had to the little guy, and technically you didn't go against Luke's request it wasn't a dog, he was a cat.
Deciding not to tell Luke and to let him find out in person again. He came home 3 days later and you were in the living room getting your dogs use to the cat slowly, making sure everyone was getting along. Although you have to admit you didn't think you would have to do exposure therapy for Luke as well until you heard him walk in."
"Y/N!" he yelled slightly, you whinced realizing you must of gotten the time mixed up of when he was going to be home because you wouldn't of introduced your cat this way.
"Hi Lukey." you say softly turning around to see a very annoyed and even disappointed Luke.
"No more. How hard is that to understand?" he asked his jaw slightly tensed.
"Well technically you said no more dogs, and this little guy is a cat." you reasoned and let at a sigh in relief as Luke realized the play on words.
"I hate your brain sometimes. You knew what I meant."
"But am I wrong?" you asked a slight smile on your face.
"No." he mumbled arms still crossed as you slowly made your way across the cat still in your arms looking up at Luke curiously. "Do i get to name him?" he asked.
"Sure."
"Jax." he said immediately.
You couldn't help but to laugh as you asked "why?"
"Because it isn't a nickname of Jack's like Huggy is for Quinn, but it's still so close to Jack. It will piss him off and I find that funny."
"So does this mean I get to keep him?" you asked hopefully.
"Yeah but this time I mean it no more animals Y/N"
"Damn it. you know I've always wanted a turtle." you joke as Luke gives you a look that says 'don't even try.' But you can't help the smile that forms on your lips because when you got your first dog at 18 you never thought this is where live would lead you.

y/ndevils00 WE WON!! WE ACTUALLY WON!!
i mean… yeah, it’s cool, we won.
with the return of my absolute favorite captain (sorry Quinnifer), the devilish whores won 7-2 against the swords!
we kicked off the scoring just a minute and a half into the first with a goal from Holtzy, and almost 10 minutes later, got a goal from uncle Toffee to give us a 2-0 lead!
but that’s not all! just 4 minutes later, captain slut got his first goal back!! GO NICOLAS!!! and in true boyfriends fashion, he acquired his first goal back the same way that Jacky did; on his first game back, in the first period of the game, with a goal that had to be confirmed by officials that it was a good goal! how utterly boyfriends of them! they definitely planned that!
and to end first period, we got yet another EVEN strength goal (no power play goals yet here!) from Pally Pocket!! giving us a FOUR goal lead on those bitches from buffalo!
in second period we got yet another goal from Tyler the creator, just 2 minutes in! bringing the score to 5-1! thank you, queen! and then the rest of that period was boring af
BUT THIRD PERIOD! OH I LOVED THIRD PERIOD! we opened that period and made it our bitch with a goal from MY best friend in the whole big wide world, Dawg-son Mercer!! EVERYBODY CHEER! WOOOOO!!! (with an assist from my lovely pain in the ass, babygirl!)
AND LASTLY, WITH OUR ONE AND ONLY POWER PLAY GOAL, WE HAVE MY (hopefully) FUTURE LITTLE BROTHER, LUKEY ‘SMUSH’ HUGHES!!! LET’S GO, BABY HUGHES!! SHOW ‘EM WHAT YOU’RE MADE OF!!
i’ll see you guys on tuesday after we play the long island iced teas!

Part 4 - Dominoes
Present Day
After fifteen days off work, you were more than ready to get back to the BAU tomorrow.
You loved the extra time you got to spend with your children but it was anything but a relaxing vacation time.
Between meeting with lawyers in regards to your marriage and your husband who remained in jail pending trial, and trying to be super mom, you were more drained than you would be from a normal case load.
It had been nearly three weeks since Jared’s arrest and two weeks since the hostage situation in which you’d confessed your love for your best friend. Your best friend who hadn’t once tried to contact you since Rossi’s wedding.
You’d told him you needed time apart but Spencer was stubborn and you were sure he would try to call, maybe even show up at the house, but he never did.
You’d missed him, missed how things used to be. For the past seven months since Varnville things hadn’t been the same between you.
They’d just started to get better, the iciness starting to thaw when you’d made your confession. Time had begun to heal the wounds you caused Spencer by falling into bed with him and you’d been amicable again, friendly even.
Right before you’d been called out to LA where two murders had been committed in two days with similar MO’s, the case which would lead to you being held hostage, you’d been having a game of poker as a team.
“You guys, you should have seen Reid. He shot a one hundred.” Luke spoke as he and Spencer entered the round table room. The rest of you gasped and made appreciative sounds. “Yeah, he qualified to shoot a possum.”
“That’s like a perfect score. What, like, two hundred agents have made the wall of glory?” Matt sounded rightfully impressed.
“He hit everything, I mean at one point I thought he must have two guns.” Luke shook his head as he slid into one of the vacant chairs.
“Maybe I did.” Spencer smiled knowingly, sitting in the space opposite you.
You looked at him with curiosity and he simply smiled at you.
You’d gone two days without a case which was a nice reprieve but it left you all a little on edge. You’d worked your way through a backlog of reports until Garcia suggested a round of poker with jelly beans for chips.
Rossi was the only one not in attendance as he was helping Krystall with last minute wedding preparations.
The game began, slowly one by one the team members folded, finally leaving only you, Spencer and Luke still in.
You glanced at your cards before placing them back face down on the table. You cupped your pile of jelly beans you’d procured and pushed them all to the centre of the table, looking Spencer dead in the eye.
“Do you think the lady is bluffing?” Luke looked between the two of you.
“I know the lady is bluffing because she has a tell.” He gave you that knowing smile once more.
“No I don’t.” You shook your head but Spencer continued to smile and pushed his own pile of candy towards the centre.
“I’m gonna go all in.” He sat back in his chair.
“Oh I like it.” Luke smirked. “Live by the sword, die by the sword. I call.”
“Alright, lets see ‘em.” Tara encouraged.
Luke turned his card over and placed them on the table top.
“Three of a kind, king high.”
“Perfectly respectable but not getting it done.” Tara shook her head.
Spencer opened his hand, placing his cards down with a smug smile gracing his lips.
“Pair of kings, pair of sevens. Oh I’m sorry, uh, three sevens.” His smile grew.
“Oh, a full boat from the sassy Doctor Reid.” Tara chuckled.
Spencer focused on you, his smile in full bloom. You felt your own tugging at your lips as you placed your own cards down for them to see.
A four, five, six, seven and eight of spades. Spencer's face fell, his smile vanishing in an instant.
“A straight flush, that has to hurt.” Tara chuckled.
“I think Doctor Reid is speechless.” Matt laughed too.
You shrugged, reaching out to collect your winnings.
“Guess I’m a better liar than you thought.”
Spencer had continued to stare at you in disbelief until Emily announced you had a case which was taking you to LA. At that moment, high from your win, you never could have foreseen where that case would lead.
Unpredictability was unfortunately a part of life. Thirteen years ago you never would have anticipated the nice man you met in a bar on your birthday would go on to abuse you.
Fifteen years ago when you’d first been introduced to the dorky Doctor Spencer Reid, you had no way to know you would still harbour feelings for him all these years later.
“Yo, pretty boy?”
“Huh?”
“Let’s not make the new girl feel uncomfortable on her very first day.”
“I wasn’t…I wasn’t…”
“Don’t mind him, he doesn’t get out much.”
“Everyone this is our new agent Y/N Y/L/N, please can you all make her feel welcome. Not too welcome though, ok, Reid?”
“Got it.”
He’d changed so much since then, it was only really now you realised that. When you saw someone every day it was hard to notice those little changes they went through until you took a step back and saw how big those changes really were.
You’d both gone from being in your early twenties, innocent and green to now somehow circling forty, much less naive than you had been back then. A whole lifetime had passed in those years. You’d gotten married, had two children and you and Spencer had both suffered your share of trauma.
You and Spencer were long overdue for a painful conversation. It would make or break your relationship, it would dictate where the two of your futures were headed and if they were entwined with one another's.
It was only a matter of time before he would ask you again, and you had to decide if you were willing to be honest with him or lie to him.
“Y/N?” He rolled his lip between his teeth. “Truth or dare?”
You sucked in a breath, closing your eyes for a fraction of a second before opening them and looking at him again.
“Truth.” You croaked.
“Did you mean it?”
Your eyes flit down to your bracelet, eyeing the inscription for a moment or two before you looked back at Spencer. There was a simple answer and a complicated one, neither of which you wanted to get into right now.
“Spencer I-”
What had you planned on saying before Adie interrupted you? You weren’t even sure of that yourself. Because you had meant it, but being in love with Spencer Reid was far too complicated for words.
You wanted to keep those thoughts at bay, at least for one more day. You had one last day off work before you had to see Spencer again and you needed to not burden yourself with any unnecessary stress.
You dropped the kids at school before running some errands. You did the grocery shopping for the week, knowing it was likely you would be pulled in on a case once you went back and wouldn’t have time to do it otherwise.
You’d arranged for your cousin Olivia to sit the kids while you worked, after explaining to her why Jared suddenly wasn’t around. She was more than happy to stay at the house with your children while you were off fighting crime.
You picked up extra ice cream and a bottle of nice wine for Olivia as a thank you, dropped off your dry cleaning and drove back home where you planned to clean the house until it was time to pick your kids up from school.
You parked on the drive and exited the car, going over to the house and opening the door before getting the bags out of the trunk so you didn’t have to try and wrestle it open with your hands full.
Heading back to your SUV, you felt the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention. You slowed your steps, honing your senses onto your surroundings. Something felt off, but you didn’t know why. But your instincts were telling you something was amiss.
Your hand instinctively went to your firearm but of course it wasn’t there, it was tucked away in the safe in the house.
You cautiously continued back to the car, eyes rapidly searching the street, your front yard and the front yards of your neighbours houses. You kept your footsteps soft and quiet so you could pick up on any little noise.
You reached the SUV and popped the trunk, feeling your nerves start to fade a little. You were paranoid, that’s all it was. You tried to shake it off but you couldn’t quite let it go, the hairs on your neck refusing to go down.
You collected up the paper bags in your arms, cradling them on one hip so you could close the trunk with the other. You turned and tried to rebalance the bags but found yourself looking down the barrel of a revolver.
You fumbled with the bags and dropped them all on the ground, partially conscious of hearing the wine bottle smash as it hit the concrete. You swallowed, trying to focus yourself on the long dark hair of the woman pointing the gun at you.
“What do you want?” You croaked. “I have money, I have connections. I’m an FBI Agent, you don’t want to do this.”
“Oh, I know exactly who you are.” The woman chuckled. “Jared says hello.”
You whimpered, taking a step back to your car but then you were taking a blow to the head from the muzzle of the gun and soon the world went dark.
Life was certainly unpredictable.

When Penelope Garcia initially received the call from a friendly woman named Linda at the Hyde-Addison Elementary School, she was confused to say the least. Her confusion turned into panic when Linda informed her that two students, Adleine and Finley Haines had not been collected from school.
Linda, the school’s administrator had tried calling their mother several times when she didn’t come to pick up her kids but kept getting her voicemail. The school had been informed that Jared Haines was not reachable at present.
The school required pre-approval for anyone to collect kids from the school who weren’t the children’s legal carers. As godparents to Adie and Fin, Penelope and Spencer along with your cousin Olivia were the only people pre-approved.
Garcia had been the first person called and she’d been sitting at her desk in her bat cave when she’d received the call. The rest of the team were in the bullpen working on paperwork as they didn’t have an active case.
Before Penelope allowed herself to spiral into fear, she called Olivia and asked if she could pick the kids up from school, trying not to say too much to alarm the young girl. Penelope needed to be at the BAU, because she knew if you hadn’t picked up the kids, there was a sinister reason for it.
She tried to remain calm while she headed through to the bullpen, head down and focused solely on Emily Prentiss’ office. She knocked on the door but didn’t wait for an answer before she tottered inside.
“We’ve got a case?” Emily looked up from her paperwork.
“Uh, yes and no.” Garcia closed the door behind her. “I just had an interesting call from Hyde-Addison.”
Emily’s eyebrows furrowed as she turned that name over in her head a few times.
“Adie and Fin’s school?”
“Yes.”
Emily’s back straightened in her chair, knowing whatever Garcia was going to say wouldn’t be good.
“Should I be worried?” The raven haired Unit Chief’s heart was already pounding.
“Maybe,” Garcia nodded. “Y/N wasn’t there to collect the kids today. She would never forget to pick the kids up. I’ve called Liv, she’s going to get them. But I think something has happened to Y/N.”
“Why didn’t they call Jared?” Emily narrowed her eyes on the blonde.
“I…uh, it's complicated?”
“Has something happened between them? She didn’t really give me much detail of why she needed time off.”
“I think that’s going to be a story I can only tell once.”
Emily was out of her seat and heading to the door before Penelope even finished her sentence. She swung the door open so forcefully it caused all the agents in the bullpen to look up at her.
Garcia pushed open Rossi’s door, motioning him out. The old man got up from his desk and padded outside.
“What’s going on?” He spoke, looking between Emily and Garcia.
“A bad one?” JJ spoke up from her desk.
Emily let out a shaky breath, ready to deliver the news to her waiting team and wishing things like this didn’t always fall on her shoulders.
“Garcia received a call just now from Adeline and Finley’s school when Y/N failed to show up to collect them.” Emily spoke, trying to keep her voice measured.
Spencer immediately shot out of his chair, glaring at Emily.
“What?” His face was drained of colour. “Why?”
“We don’t know, that’s what we need to find out.” Emily nodded sternly.
“Why did they call you?” Luke asked, directing his question to Garcia. “Where’s their dad?”
Penelope looked at Spencer, her expression pleading him to help her. She didn’t want to have to relay this story for you, not that Spencer did either. He huffed out a breath and slowly headed up the stairs to join Garcia, Emily and Rossi while they all looked at him in slight confusion.
“A few weeks ago Penelope discovered that Jared Haines had been arrested.” Spencer began, his voice cracking as he spoke. “For a domestic disturbance turned attempted murder.”
The rest of the team gasped at his words, exchanging looks and silently asking each other if anyone knew. Penelope was on her phone, tapping at the keys.
“He was abusing her?” Emily looked at Spencer, her expression one of sorrow.
“For a long time.” He nodded sadly. “I knew he was hurting her, I tried to help her but she refused me every time. Adeline called the cops when Jared got hold of Y/N’s gun. He shot the wall, not Y/N. When DC Metro showed up, he had his hand around her throat.”
“Jeez,” Rossi shook his head. “That poor girl.”
“I had no idea.” JJ pouted, her eyes filling with tears.
“You think this has something to do with him?” Luke asked, his nostrils flared in anger.
“He’s still in jail, I just checked.” Garcia waved her phone.
“What is this about then?” Tara frowned. “Do we really think something has happened to her?”
“She would never leave the kids like that. No way.” Spencer shook his head.
“This might not be a case, there may be a reasonable explanation.” Emily didn’t look as though she believed that herself.
“Can I go and check on her?” Spencer begged.
“Ok.” Emily nodded. “You have your car?”
“No,” he raked his fingers through his hair.
“I’ll take you kid,” Rossi nodded at him.
“I’ll try and ping her cell phone.” Garcia hurriedly started back towards the stairs, Rossi and Spencer in tow.
“Just in case something has happened, tell Y/N’s cousin to keep the kids away from her house.” Emily instructed.
“Aye aye boss.” Penelope spoke as she carried on walking.
Spencer was soon over taking her, walking as fast as he could towards the elevators while Rossi struggled to keep up.
He was blinded by his emotions and he knew it. And he also knew if anything had happened to you he would never be the same.
***
“Why are you doing this?” You asked once you finally came to, tied to a chair in a nondescript room.
The dark haired woman sat on an old desk, twirling her revolver in her hand.
“I already told you, for your husband.” She clucked.
“I don’t buy it.” You shook your hazy head. “He’s too controlling to let someone else do his dirty work.”
“But he’s in prison, so he can’t do his own dirty work.”
“Fine, let’s pretend I believe you. How do you know my husband?” You sighed.
“We were lovers.” She smirked dangerously at you but you simply rolled your eyes.
“Sweetheart, we both know that’s not true. My husband is forty two years old, you can’t be more than late twenties. We’ve been together for thirteen years, so if you’re telling me you were together before I met him, that would have made you, at most, sixteen years old. I highly doubt that he would have dated a sixteen year old when he was almost thirty.” You argued.
“Who said it was before you met him?”
“So you’re proposing that my husband cheated on me with you?” You cocked an eyebrow at her. “Ok, let’s say that happened. Why would you be willing to do his dirty work for him? What is he offering you in return for killing me? Let me guess, with me dead he has no one to testify against him and he goes free? And then what? The two of you run off into the sunset together with two kids?”
You saw something flicker in her eyes.
“Something like that.” She shrugged.
You knew what you’d seen. She hadn’t given your kids a second thought. You decided to take a leaf from Spencer’s book. When he’d faced off with Cat Adams after prison he’d tricked her by giving the wrong name of Morgan’s son, proving she didn’t know as much about him as she thought.
“You think you’re equipped to look after Sammy and Kylie?” You scoffed.
“I can be surprisingly maternal.” She smirked at you.
That cleared that up. This was most certainly not about Jared. If she was really his lover or whatever she claimed to be, surely she would know about his kids and this woman certainly did not.
It was a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.
“Where are my kids now?” You asked.
“How should I know? I’m not interested in them, I’m interested in you.” The woman pushed herself up from the desk suddenly and you held your breath as she came closer to you. It was then you noticed the camera set up on a table top tripod, pointing your way.
She came behind you and you flinched when she wrapped her arm around your neck, gun dangling by your chest.
“Say cheese,” the woman chirruped, seconds before a camera flash went off.

Upon arrival at 184 Calvert Street it was immediately clear there had been a struggle.
Several bags of groceries were on the drive, a smashed bottle of wine, cracked eggs and a partially split box of cereal. Your car was unlocked and your front door was wide open.
Spencer drew his weapon, as did Rossi, as they headed towards the house. Without a word, Spencer took the ground floor and Rossi the first. A few minutes later Rossi called out, “clear.”
“Clear here too.” Spencer holstered his weapon.
Nothing in the house appeared to be out of place, it looked the same as it usually did. He moved some books aside on the bookshelf to reveal the safe hidden behind. He heard Rossi’s footsteps on the stairs as he input the code.
He popped the safe door and reached inside, locating your gun with ease. He turned and held it up to Rossi who was looking at him with a frown.
“You know her combination?” The older man asked.
“It’s Adie’s birthday.” Spencer shrugged. “Makes sense she wouldn’t have had her gun, she wasn’t working.”
He put the firearm back in the safe as the two of them headed back outside.
“It looks like she opened the door before getting the groceries. She had a lot to carry and I guess she figured it was easier to open the door first.” Rossi mused.
“She gets the door open, heads back to the car and grabs the bags, but someone waits until after she’s got them and closes the trunk to strike.” Spencer added. “There’s no other signs of a struggle or a fight. She’s startled and drops the bags and then what?”
“First blush? If it were me, a gun in my face would startle me enough to drop my bags.” Rossi speculated.
Spencer roughly rubbed his palm across his jaw, shaking his head.
“This can’t be happening, Rossi. Not after everything she’s been through.”
“Kid, take a breath.” Rossi put his hand on Spencer’s shoulder. “What’s going on here?”
“Clearly someone has stalked her, learnt her patterns and-”
“Not what I mean.” Rossi cut him off.
“I can’t let anything else bad happen to her, Dave. Not after I sat by for years and did nothing while her jerk husband beat her.” Spencer spat.
“Reid, you can’t blame yourself for that.”
“Yet I do.”
“We’re going to get to the bottom of this and we’re gonna find her.” Rossi looked determined. “And when we do, maybe the two of you will finally stop playing this exhausting little game and finally admit you’re crazy about each other.”
Rossi strolled away towards his car and Spencer watched him go. He couldn’t help the dry chuckle that left his lips at the old man’s words.
If only you knew, Rossi. If only you knew.

Two Weeks Ago
“Garcia, any luck with Judge Hamilton?” Spencer leant forward in the chair, speaking into the car’s microphone while you drove.
Judge Melissa Hamilton was one of the people who the team suspected might be their unsub, Casey Allen Pinkner’s next target. But so far Garcia hadn’t been able to get hold of her.
“No, we’ve reached everyone else involved she won’t pick up. I’ve pinged her phone, you guys are close.” Garcia informed you both.
“She’s gotta be his end game, he knows we’re onto him and time is limited.” You huffed, continuing down the street and keeping your eyes peeled for Melissa Hamilton’s car.
“During sentencing she wanted to throw the book at him, she said that he needed to take responsibility for his actions.” Spencer spoke.
“That would have incensed him.” You sighed.
“Oh! she just pulled over.” Garcia’s voice came through the speakers again.
You and Spencer both glanced around the busy LA street. Up ahead Spencer noticed a car stopped, frowning he leant further forward.
“That’s her, that’s Judge Hamilton. Turn around.” He quickly told you.
He held on tight while you made a sharp and somewhat precarious U-turn in the middle of a busy intersection. As you closed in on the vehicle it started moving again.
You were hot on its tail, Spencer keeping a close eye on the sedan weaving in and out of traffic. Suddenly a tanker pulled out of a side road and Hamilton’s car came to an abrupt stop before they collided.
You pulled in behind it as the doors were opening on the other vehicle. Casey Allen Pinkner slid out of the back seat and instantly fired his gun in Spencer’s direction. Spencer was quick to duck behind the open door and narrowly avoided the bullet that hit the side of the SUV.
You drew your own weapon but didn’t return fire given the amount of people on the street. Instead the two of you hurried after where he ran off with Judge Hamilton in tow. He’d run inside a jewellery store and you both followed him in, weapons pointed in his direction.
“Everybody out!” Spencer yelled as he entered, waving the customers towards the door.
Pinkner aimed his gun at the ceiling and pulled the trigger, making the store clerk who he held by the shoulder scream.
“Go, get out.” You motioned to the other customers before turning to Pinkner. “FBI!”
“Put them down.” Pinkner growled. “On the ground.”
You and Spencer exchanged a look, lowering your gun just a little.
“It’s ok,” Spencer whispered, lowering his also and tossing it on the floor before you followed suit.
Pinkner made the clerk close the shutters while he had Hamilton force you and Spencer to the floor and tape your wrists behind your back. She was shaking as she taped up Spencer’s arms.
“Don’t worry, it's going to be ok.” He whispered to her.
What ensued was the two of you sitting back and witnessing Pinkner try and force Hamiliton to play his sick game of truth or dare whilst threatening if she didn’t play, he would kill her daughter.
His dare for Hamilton entailed her shooting Spencer. But to his credit, Spencer didn’t even flinch with the gun pointing at him.
“Casey…” You spoke up, sensing the judge’s hesitancy whilst trying to push yourself to your feet.. “Uh, if Melissa won’t play, I will. Truth or dare? That’s your game right? I’ll play.”
“Casey, I know what it's like, to be wrongly accused, sent to prison for a crime you didn’t commit.” Spencer spoke now, obviously trying to buy you all some time.
“Yeah right, you went to jail?” Pinkner scoffed but Spencer simply nodded. “Yeah, I’d like to see that pretty boy.”
Meanwhile behind his back Spencer had located a shard of glass from a broken display. He had it between his fingers as he attempted to cut through his tape. It was tricky at this angle and could feel the glass cutting into his palm but he powered through.
“Ok, agent…” Casey turned to you with the gun, trailing off when he realised he didn’t know your name.
“Y/L/N.”
“Agent Y/L/N, truth or dare?” He spat.
“Truth.” You sucked in a breath.
“If I think you’re lying, or stretching the truth in the slightest, I’ll kill him.” He turned the gun on Spencer briefly before pointing it back at you. “You ever shoot anybody before?”
“Yes I have.” You nodded.
“You enjoy it?” Pinkner smirked at you.
“No.”
“LIAR!” He yelled, turning the gun back to Spencer and pulling the trigger.
You screamed at the sound, your heart instantly pounding. But soon enough you realised the bullet hadn’t hit him, not quite.
“No, no I’m not lying!” You were quick to say, tears now flooding your vision. “The people I shot, I had no choice. But I did not enjoy it, I didn’t. You asked, and I told the truth ok? So, uh, now it's my turn? That’s how this game’s played. We take turns. Truth or dare?”
You tried to keep your tears at bay but if he shot at Spencer like that again they would certainly fall. You glanced at him, he looked a little shell shocked from the ordeal, no doubt he’d heard the bullet whirring past his head. But at least he was unscathed.
“Truth.” Casey replied and you looked back at him.
“What’s it going to take for all of us to walk out of here alive? For this to end peacefully?” You pleaded with him.
“I ain’t going back to prison. My turn. Truth or dare?”
“Truth.” You clenched your jaw.
In your peripheral vision you could see Spencer moving ever so slightly. Hopefully you were buying you both enough time for him to come up with a way out of here.
“I want you to say something you’re afraid to say. That you’d never tell anybody and you better make it good because if it's not it's gonna be the last thing you ever say. What’s it gonna be?” Pinkner spat, proffering the gun closer to you.
“There are only four people I trust in this world.” You swallowed.
“Boring.” Pinkner turned and quickly fired a bullet into Judge Hamilton's leg. She screamed and fell to the floor. “Next.”
Your heart was thumping against your chest. You knew you had to say something good and this was certainly something you didn’t want to say.
“My, uh…my husband…he uh…he hits me. He’s abusive.” You choked as tears started streaming down your face.
“Wrong. Come on, you can do better than that.” Pinkner scoffed.
“Casey,” Spencer spoke now, the pain in his voice evident.
He’d know about what Jared did to you but you’d never said it out loud in quite as many words. He hated the way he felt so powerless against what your husband had done to you.
“Shut up!” Casey screamed at him, grabbing you by the shoulder and forcing you back to the floor.
“Ok, ok.” You cried.
“Last chance. Something you would never say aloud, not even to your partner here. Your deepest, darkest secret. Impress me or I kill him.” He turned the gun back on Spencer.
You looked at your best friend through watery eyes. There was only one thing left to say. A secret you never thought you’d say out loud, especially to Spencer.
But it would certainly be enough to get Casey’s attention and with any luck it would save your lives.
“Come on!” Casey screamed.
You kept your eyes on Spencer, tears getting heavier. His brow furrowed at you, sensing the weight of what you were about to say.
“Spence, uh…” you swallowed. “I have always loved you. I was too scared to say it before... and now things are just really too complicated to say it now. I'm sorry, but you should know.”
The look that washed over him could only be described as pure heart break as the world seemed to freeze around you. He’d wanted to hear those words for so many years but not here, not like this.
For five seconds the two of you stared at each other, five gut wrenching, life altering seconds. This was going to change everything, life would never be the same again.

Present Day
Upon receiving the email from the anonymous server, things started to make a little more sense.
It didn’t make the situation any less terrifying, but it did at least point the team in the right direction.
Your phone had been found in a dumpster a few blocks from your house and hadn’t rendered anything useful. It was the email that had landed in Garcia’s inbox a few minutes after Spencer and Rossi returned from your home which was interesting.
It was a photograph of you with your abductor's arm around your shoulder. The woman next to you wasn’t trying to obscure her face telling the team she wasn’t scared of being identified. You had dried blood on the side of your face but other than that you looked to be unscathed.
But the most alarming part was the demand in the email.
Release Catherine Adams in twenty four hours.
And that was how Spencer found himself behind the glass in the little room next to the interrogation room in which Cat Adams currently occupied.
“You sure you can do this?” JJ was at his side, much like she had been last time he’d had to face off with his nemesis.
“I don’t have a choice, Jennifer.” He wouldn’t look at her, keeping his eyes on Cat in her bright orange jumpsuit. “She’s made it personal. Again. If I don’t go in there she’s going to have Y/N killed.”
“I’ll be right here.” JJ tried to calm him.
“I don’t need you to wait for me. This is something I need to do alone. Go and help the team.” He didn’t look at her as he headed for the door and violently swung it open.
He slammed it behind him, glaring manically at Cat.
She was relaxed back in the chair, arms folded across her chest, jumpsuit sleeves rolled up to her elbows. Her dark hair was stringy and lifeless, tied back off of her face.
Those infectious eyes he remembered having so much spark when they played their little game in the restaurant, even after his release from prison with his hand around her throat, were dull like someone had switched a light off.
He’d seen that look mirrored on his own eyes when he was incarcerated. Day by day prison stripped him of life, and his eyes had slowly lost their sparkle.
She’d been inside much longer than him, he wasn’t exactly surprised to see the effects she wore. But even when she looked at him they remained dark and cold.
He could see the resignation. She’d given up. It happened in prison, when you stopped believing there was a way out. He’d reached that point too, he’d gotten himself into solitary for his own protection, but he’d been so sure he’d die there.
She stared at him, waiting for him to speak. If he didn’t know any better he would have been sure she didn’t have anything to do with this. She didn’t seem as though she had the energy for these kinds of games anymore.
“Where is she?” He spat at her, not wanting to waste any time.
“Because I’m going to make it that easy on you?” Cat scoffed, lifeless eyes rolling in her head.
“The demand of releasing you from prison is never going to happen, so why don’t we save ourselves both some time and tell me what this is really about.” He moved closer to the metal table but didn’t sit down.
“You haven’t heard,” her lips turned up at the corner.
“Heard?” He cocked an eyebrow at her.
“I stopped fighting. The state versus Catherine Adams.” She unfolded her arms, exhaled heavily.
“You’ve grown a conscience? Unlikely.” He rolled his eyes.
“I’m bored.” She huffed. “Death has got to be more interesting.”
“Why am I here, Cat? And where is Y/N?” He tried to keep his voice levelled but he knew it was only a matter of time before he lost his cool. “I’m not playing your games this time, tell me where she is.”
“You know that’s not how this works, Spencie.” She offered him a sweet smile. Her eyes were still void of emotion.
“Tell me what you want.” He folded his arms across his chest.
“My final request,” she sat back in her chair leisurely. “Before I’m put to death. I want to go on a date. With you.”
Spencer felt his stomach turn violently. Of course there was always something. But she did really think she would get her own way, be released from prison so he could take her out?
He supposed having an FBI Agent kidnapped was one way to ensure she got what she wanted.
He unfolded his arms before kneeling in front of her. He moved close to her ear.
“The only date I will be there for is the one where they stick a needle in your vein.” He spat before pushing himself back up.
“I hear you have a thing for damaged women, I thought I was just your type.” She smirked wildly at him.
His teeth ground together furiously, but he tried not to let her see he was coming unravelled. He couldn’t give anything away. She was the master of reading people, him specifically. In another life she would have made a great profiler.
“I have no idea what you mean.” He sucked in a breath, desperate not to let her see she’d hit a nerve.
Cat chuckled, an evil and maniacal sound that made Spencer’s stomach lurch.
“After all this time? Always.” She quoted with a wide smile on her face.
Spencer’s nostrils flared and he felt his heart leap into his throat.
How did she know about that? How could she possibly know?
The only conceivable way would be from your bracelet. The bracelet you’d handed him back at Rossi’s wedding which he’d come to discover when he got home he no longer had in his possession.
He’d assumed it had fallen out of his pocket, even called the venue the next day but as of yet no one had found it. Even if he’d lost it, it was out of the question that she could have gotten her hands on it.
“Did you hear me?” Cat spoke again, snapping him out of his thoughts.
“Yes.” He nodded.
“You’re going to take me on a date or I will have her killed.” She spoke in a sickly sweet tone that made Spencer want to throw up. “I want to look pretty! I wanna have fun! And I won’t even get physical. Unless you want me to.”
He felt dizzy out of nowhere, his vision starting to blur. The walls of the interrogation room seemed like they were getting closer. He suddenly felt as though he couldn’t breath, like a heavy weight was pressing down on his chest.
I’m having a panic attack.
Before he could let Cat see his devolution, he threw open the door and fled the small room. He crossed the corridor in two strides, letting himself into a disused office.
He fought to loosen his tie which felt like it was strangling him. He managed to get it over his head and tossed it aside while trying to focus on his breathing.
A large scream ripped through him, involuntarily erupting from his throat and he reached out and swiped a pile of books and papers off the desk in his rage.
He collapsed to the floor soon after that, hot tears streaming down his face. He sobbed loudly, not caring if anyone was to hear him. He didn’t even care if Cat heard him, even though that was unlikely through the reinforced glass.
He’d had so many emotions pent up for so many years and it was finally all coming to surface. Cat having you kidnapped was the straw that broke the camel's back. The thin piece of thread holding him together all these years snapped.
You’d told him you loved him and he hadn’t said it back. What if he never got to say it back? You were finally free of the clutches of your abusive husband but now you might die because of Cat’s vendetta against him.
He’d allow himself this moment. One moment in which he crumbled. Then he would push it all down and focus everything he had on finding you.
And if he didn’t find you? That didn’t bear thinking about it.
***
Hours ticked by. Slow, painful hours. There was something familiar about this room but you couldn’t quite place it, couldn’t quite see the bigger picture.
The room was small, barely larger than your en-suite bathroom at home. The walls were painted white, chipped and peeling at the corners.
The floor was damp and dusty, clearly having gone unused for years. The table in the corner which your kidnapped sat on was more like a counter than an actual table.
Behind the counter was a set of thick red velvet curtains which were moth eared and mouldy. You swore you could see a sliver of light behind the thick fabric but maybe that was just wishful thinking.
A window maybe?
There was one door, to the left of the counter but it didn’t offer any clues.
Debris was littered on the floor, torn sheets of paper for which you couldn’t quite piece together to work out what was on them. Small brown beads of something scattered between the paper but you couldn’t ascertain what they were.
You probably had a concussion. If the blow to the head hadn’t done it you were sure the fall to the ground after you’d been rendered unconscious had. Your brain was foggy, you knew you were missing something right in front of you but you couldn’t work out what.
The woman didn’t speak much, she mostly sat in silence on her cell phone. None of this made sense. Surely if she’d kidnapped you she wanted something from you? But she was yet to make any demands.
By now you were sure the team must be looking for you. When you failed to pick up the kids from school either Liv, Penelope or Spencer would have been called. By now they must realise something had happened to you.
The profiler in you couldn’t stop trying to run through it all in your head despite how much it hurt to do so.
If this was somehow about Jared, even though you doubted that, where would their paths have crossed? Jared liked to drink, he frequented a lot of bars in the district. She could have been a bartender that he spilled his life to over one too many beers.
But if that were true wouldn’t she know your kids names?
She could have gotten hold of your FBI file. It would tell her your husband's name and the fact you had two kids but not their names. But that would open up the very real and very terrifying idea she was working for someone on the inside.
She could have simply stalked you. If she’d been following you she would know about your husband, your kids, but not necessarily their names.
But then it just came back to the why. Why was she doing this? Who had she taken that photo for? What did she want from you?
You swallowed, your mouth was so dry and your throat was scratchy. You wiggled a little against your binds, this whole being held hostage thing was becoming too much of a regular occurance.
“Look, seeing as we’re going to be here a while, why don’t you tell me what this is about.” You barely recognised your own voice.
The woman’s eyes snapped away from her phone and she looked at you, regarding you curiously. She put down the device and pushed herself to her feet.
She had a slightly crazed smile on her lips as she approached you. There was something vaguely familiar about her, like you’d seen her somewhere before. Had you noticed her watching you? Somewhere in the deep recesses of your mind did you recognise her?
“You need to see what he’s really like.” She told you, rummaging around in her pocket.
“Jared? I already know what he’s really like.” You scoffed, with a frown.
“Not Jared.” She chucked, fishing something out of her pocket and holding it up in front of your eyes.
Your poor and tired eyes took a moment to focus on the silver item dangling from her fingers. But when you did, you felt your whole world stop turning.
***
Spencer collected himself, pushed down his emotions and washed his face so the team wouldn’t know he’d been crying. When he walked into the round table room, all eyes were on him.
“How did it go, kid?” Rossi asked.
“About as well as you would expect.” He croaked.
“We’ve run the woman through facial recognition but so far we haven’t got anything.” Garcia told him sadly.
“I’ve seen her before.” Spencer focused on the photograph of you and your captor on the big screen. “I know I have, I just can’t figure out where.”
“It makes sense for her to use a partner again, but her victimology is off. Cat is a black widow, she targets abusive men who remind her of her father.” JJ spoke now.
“Could this be about Jared? Maybe she thinks in some kind of warped way, she’s saving Y/N?” Luke frowned as he spoke.
“She doesn’t need saving, he’s already in jail.” Emily shook her head.
“It’s not about Jared.” Spencer heaved a sigh. “I know exactly what this is about. This is about me.”
“Well yeah it’s always been about you. But with Cat there is always the presenting agenda and the hidden one. If she sticks to pattern this isn’t just about going on a date with Spence.” JJ shook her head.
So she was listening, at least to part of it.
“No, this is about me. Me and Y/N.” Spencer closed his eyes, his gut churning.
“What do you mean?” Tara asked with a hint of confusion in her tone.
He opened his eyes again and looked at her, trying to find some kind of solace in her soft brown eyes. This was the last thing he wanted to open about right now but it was inevitable he would have to.
If this was really about you and him, the team needed all the facts.
“A few weeks ago on the case in LA, the guy who liked to play truth or dare. When he held us hostage, Y/N agreed to play.” Spencer looked away from Tara, focused his vision on your image on the big screen.
“Ok?” Rossi frowned.
“What does that have to do with anything? I read your report.” Emily frowned too.
“I left something out of my report. Something she said that I didn’t think was pertinent. Not to the case anyway.”
“But you think it’s relevant now?” Matt gave him an equally confused look.
“I think somehow, and I don’t know how, Cat found out. Or she guessed, maybe, I’m not sure. But I think it’s why she took Y/N and how I know this about me and nothing else.” Spencer raked his fingers through his hair, a similar dizziness to that he’d experienced in the interrogation room washing over him.
He needed to get this out before he had another panic attack.
“Are you gonna tell us what she said or do we have to drag it out of you?” Luke was the one to ask.
“She said…” he closed his eyes, taking himself back to the jewellery store. “Spence, uh…I have always loved you. I was too scared to say it before... and now things are just really too complicated to say it now. I'm sorry, but you should know.”
He kept his eyes closed as he quoted you verbatim. He could feel all the eyes of his team members on him, watching, waiting.
When he opened his eyes he looked straight back at your photograph. There were a couple of exchanged glances but to their credit they didn’t seem all that surprised.
“But you said it yourself, you left that out of the report.” Emily’s brows furrowed.
“And the security camera from the store didn’t have audio. So even if she has someone on the inside working for her again, how would she know about that?” JJ looked at him quizzically.
“I have no idea.” He shrugged.
“Did you tell anyone about it? Anyone at all?” Tara asked now.
“No,” Spencer shook his head.
“Then how can this be about that?” Garcia questioned him.
“I don’t know!” He sounded exasperated. “But I’m sure that it is, I know that it is.”
“You’re sure you didn’t tell anyone?” JJ spoke calmly. “Even if it doesn’t seem relevant. Are you sure you didn’t-”
“Shit,” he cut her off. “I did tell someone.”
“Who?” Emily was quick to ask.
He looked from your photograph to his Unit Chief.
“Max. I told Max.”
“I’ve been in love with her for so long it’s just become a part of who I am.” He confessed. “I never let myself get close to anyone on the off chance she might have one day decided she felt the same. Just before I met you we…we, uh, slept together and she just up and left while I was asleep and never mentioned it again. It told me everything I needed to know, and so I made the decision to finally move on. I opened myself up to being with someone else and there you were.
I really like you Max, I think we could have had something really amazing. But I can’t lie to you and tell you that I’m not always going to have feelings for Y/N, because at this point I’m sure they will never go away. And that’s not fair on you.”
“No, it's not.” She shook her head.
“I got held hostage yesterday, Y/N and I did.” He sighed, scratching at the back of his neck. “The unsub liked to play truth or dare. He had a gun pointed at her and made her confess to a secret she would never admit outloud.”
Max narrowed her eyes on him, despite not being a profiler she could easily read between the lines.
“She told you she has feelings for you?”
“She did.” Spencer nodded. “I still don’t know if she meant it or not, or if she was just trying to shock the guy.”
“You think she could be a part of this?” Luke leaned forward on the table.
“No, no way.” Spencer shook his head frantically.
“How can you be so sure? You only dated a few months, did you really know her?” JJ sounded somewhat accusatory.
“I knew her.” He spat at his friend. “There is no way she is part of this.”
“Ok, ok kid calm down.” Rossi held his hands up. “If Max isn’t a part of this, we have to assume this woman who’s holding Y/N hostage overheard what you said to her. Where were you when you talked to Max?”
Spencer’s eyes snapped onto the older man, frantic and wild. His heart pounded in his chest as his blood turned to ice.
“At your wedding.” Spencer croaked. “I told Max that at your wedding.”
In his peripheral vision he noticed someone pass by, dressed in a caterer's uniform. He waited for them to leave before he spoke again.
His eyes quickly found the image on the screen again only this time he didn’t look at you, he looked at the woman with her arm around your neck.
“Fuck,” Spencer choked on his breath. “She was there! She was dressed as a freaking caterer!”
All eyes turned to the screen while the others tried to deduce if they recognised her.
“You’re sure?” Luke was the one to ask.
“Yes.” Spencer nodded defiantly. “I saw her throughout the day, didn’t really pay her much attention. But she was there when I was talking to Max. I saw her. I thought she walked off but it’s safe to say I wasn’t exactly focused on her. She could have just been out of view, listening while I told Max what happened.”
“Her name is Juliette Weaver.” Penelope suddenly looked up from her laptop. “I just got over the prison visitor records. She’s visited Cat five times in the last two weeks. And before that, she was an inmate at the same correctional facility. She was released a little over a month ago.”
“Ok, I’ll bite. If this woman was really at my wedding, watching you and listening to your conversations, I’m still not sure what Cat has to gain by kidnapping Y/N.” Rossi pulled a face.
“She got back at me for arresting her by having me arrested.” Spencer started to pace as he let the thoughts flow. “Then we destroyed her relationship with Lindsey, exposed her affair with Wilkins, to the one person who ever loved her. We proved playing the game with me was more important than being faithful to Lindsey.”
“So you think she wants to kill Y/N, take away the one person who loves you just like you did to her?” JJ mused.
Spencer suddenly stopped pacing, eyes landed on JJ.
“No,” he shook his head. “She doesn’t want her dead.”
“So what does she want?” Matt frowned.
“Last time she wanted to prove that we’re the same. Me and Cat. This time she wants to prove I’m like him.”
“Him?” Garcia questioned.
“Jared.” Spencer exhaled. “At the wedding you told me how Y/N had been found with Jared’s hand around her throat. I bet Juliette overhead that too.”
“So?” Garcia shrugged.
“She was found being strangled, just like when I had Cat up against the wall in the interrogation room by her throat.” Spencer clenched his jaw.
He saw some confused eyes, the whole team had not been privy to that part of his encounter with Cat. Emily hadn’t let the others see the video footage, thinking the fewer people knew of it the better.
“Cat wants to prove to Y/N that I am no better than her husband. She doesn’t want to kill her, it would be too easy. It would be worse for me for Y/N to live and never be able to look at me the same.” Spencer’s whole body deflated.
“Or let you live knowing you couldn’t save her.” Luke spoke, his tone morose.
“Either way we need to find her.” Emily turned stern. “And the best way to do that would be…”
“No,” Spencer shook his head, whining. “Please? There must be another way.”
“If we give her what she wants she could slip up. We can profile what she says on the date. She’d be out of her comfort zone.” Emily shrugged as if there was no other way.
Maybe there wasn’t.
“Fucking hell,” Spencer groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Fine.”
“Alvez and Simmons, you'll go with them.” Emily instructed. “Garcia, see if you can find any more on Juliette Weaver.”
Soon the five of them, Spencer, Luke, Matt, Emily and Garcia exited the room, the others staying behind to continue pursuing other leads. As they passed by Emily’s office, the Unit Chief spoke again.
“Reid, a word?”
Spencer halted in his tracks, inhaling deeply before slowly following her into her office.
She closed the door behind him, moved over to her desk which she leant back against.
“You sure you can do this?” She folded her arms across her chest.
Spencer took a beat, thought about that question for a moment or two before he responded with a simple, “no.”
“If there was another way…”
“I know.” He nodded stiffly. “I just need a minute to compose myself. If I have to see Cat right now I will undoubtedly kill her.”
The gumption to his tone frightened Emily for a second. She knew he wasn’t exaggerating, he would most certainly kill her.
“If you kill her we may never find Y/N. Just try and remember that.” Emily spoke softly, trying to calm him.
“If we don’t find her,” he clenched his jaw. “If she dies, I will murder Cat Adams with my bare hands. And rest assured I will sleep well afterwards.”
With that he turned and forced the door open, fleeing the room before Emily could even so much as blink.
And she knew more than ever that they had to bring you back unharmed, or she would inevitably lose two members from her team.

with a defense attorney s/o headcanons — luke alvez
Tumblr media Tumblr media
cw : gn!reader, mentions of canon typical violence/crime, losing your pet for a moment, the us criminal justice system ://///, 1K words. requested !
prompt : luke x defense-attorney!reader.
Tumblr media
⟢ luke never would have guessed that he’d fall for a defense attorney
⟢ rationally, he knows they can’t all be bad, that not all of them defend the horrible types of killers that he does his best to put away
⟢ it’s just that he’s had more than enough bad experiences with them when testifying in court for a case
⟢ but, luke doesn’t meet you on a case, or while doing anything work related at all
⟢ instead, he runs into you in the streets near his apartment
⟢ he’s distracting, looking at his phone when he hears his work ringtone, and you have your head ducked to look under the bench you stand at
⟢ you stand and start forward, right as he approaches, and you nearly walk right into each other
⟢ luckily, contact is avoided, but you both begin spilling apologies from your lips
⟢ luke regains his composure quickly, but you seem to be panicking
⟢ “hey, it’s okay. seriously,” he says, speaking and looking at you with such sincerity that it gets you to pause
⟢ “i totally should’ve been paying attention,” he apologizes again, fully taking in your frazzled state
⟢ it’s dark out, you’re dressed in pajamas and he can see your mismatched socks contrasting with your very nice slip on shoes
⟢ clearly, something outside of almost bumping into each other is bothering you; from your shoes, he can tell that you’re not the type to leave the house so uncomposed
⟢ “are you okay?” he asks, easily concerned and protective by nature of his own kind personality in combination with his profession
⟢ “my cat,” you breathe out, “i’m looking for my cat, she got out of my apartment and i can’t find her,” you tell him, feeling overly vulnerable and slightly pathetic
⟢ but you love your cat more than just about anything, and the idea of losing her has you teary despite your normal composed and formal state
⟢ “have you seen her? she’s a tortoiseshell, mostly brown and black with green eyes,” you describe to him, eyes hopeful
⟢ luke thinks this must be fate of some sort, though he’s content with it being luck as well
⟢ “yeah, actually,” he replies, recalling the pretty cat he noticed not too far back down the street
⟢ in the daylight, he probably would’ve been able to see that she was too well groomed to be an outside cat, but in the dark and curled up comfortably at the base of a sidewalk tree, he didn’t question anything
⟢ “i saw her just a minute ago, down the street. she was just curled up by a tree, she might still be there,” he informs you, already turning back in the direction he saw her
⟢ you follow right behind him. “oh my god, thank you so much,” you gush, hands wringing as you pray she’ll still be there
⟢ luke leads you at a jog, feeling highly empathetic for how anxious you must be feeling in the moment
⟢ he doesn’t even have to say anything as you grow closer to the tree; you spot your cat and break into a full run, confident she won’t scare
⟢ she lets you scoop her up into her arms and you scold her lightly as you hold her close
⟢ “gosh, you scared me,” you mumble to her, walking back to luke and thanking him over and over again
⟢ he walks you back to your apartment and you agree readily when he asks if you’d be alright with giving you his number
⟢ despite the stressful situation, it wasn’t easy to miss his good looks and kind personality
⟢ only on your first date does luke find out your occupation, and you find out his
⟢ it feels a little awkward because you both instinctively know that your professions could clash; he puts criminals away and you defend them
⟢ but the attraction is undeniable, and it doesn’t take too much talking to find out that your specialties barely overlap
⟢ luke deals with the worst of the worst, while you actively seek out cases where you can defend the underprivileged, marginalized, and misunderstood
⟢ of course, you have to defend scumbags from time to time, but even by your age, you had built up a strong career that allows you to take on pro bono cases often without financial worry
⟢ so quickly, luke goes from suspicious to completely admiring you and your work
⟢ it turns out to be very nice to be dating someone else within the criminal justice system
⟢ the both of you have a very solid understanding of the system that makes it easier to understand the pressures and difficulties of your jobs
⟢ and while luke sees the worst of it the criminal activity, you see a decent amount of violence within your own work as well
⟢ plus, you see for yourself the failings of the system, and luke understands this feeling well
⟢ he’s great and comforting you when cases don’t go as well as you hoped, especially when you see someone getting punished in a way that they didn’t deserve, and you were unable to stop it
⟢ and that means that you understands the frustrations of your jobs, so rather than clashing, you end up being able to be compatible in that aspect along with so many others!
⟢ he’s also so hugely supportive and always celebrates with you when you win a case!
⟢ especially when it’s a case that you fought extra hard on, he’ll throw you a little party, usually just with the two of you
⟢ but for one of the biggest cases of your career, you win the case and create an important precedent that should aide others in your client’s position in the future
⟢ and he throws you a big party with his teammates and all your friends and he’s just constantly so proud of you and how you’re able to use your position to help people who are often screwed over by the country’s highly fucked up criminal justice system
⟢ (also he's so elated when your cat and roxy get along when you move in together, he was so worried about it lmao)

Cat Distribution System is a bitch
masterlist
Tumblr media
I found Annabeth on the Arena along some few other campers. She was following their every move as they sparred. I kinda feel intimidated with how serious she is now, but I need to get this from my chest.
  — Annabeth, can we talk for a second? — I ask.
She turns around surprised and she frowns at me.
  — Do you need something? — She asked.
  — N-no. I just- Can we talk somewhere more private? — She looked back at the kids, some where still sparring and others were pretending to do so to hear the conversation.
— Keep training, I'll be back. — She comanded, and everyone sighed in annoyance.
She signaled me somewhere far enough so nobody could hear.
— Go on now. — She crossed her arms over her chestplate, still wary.
— I wanted to say sorry for lashing out on you. I was... troubled and I lost it. You don't deserve that and I'm very sorry. —
I started to pick on my nails from the nervousness. I never was a person of many friends and if she didn't want it to be after everything, I couldn't blame her; but I can't let her think that I hate her.
  — I know how hard it can be. — Annabeth sighed. I always knew that she knew. She had told me that she was an all year long camper but that her father lives in San Francisco. She didn't tell me the exact reason of why she never visited, but I know it's hard for her.
— I forgive you. — Her eyes softened softened.

  — I didn't meant what I said. About us not being friends. You have not been anything but wonderful to me and I would love to call you my friend if you would allow me. — I don't dare to move closer. I'm afraid of making this more awkward for her.
Annabeth's eyes softened even more and she cleared her throat.
  — That would be... nice. — She said.
I couldn't but help smile and she smirked.
  — Great! Uhm, cool. —
Ok, so, when I met Percy everything went with the flow and didn't exactly ask each other if we were friends, we just kinda knew. So this situation right here is eating me inside. I have never felt more awkward in my entire life.
  — The sparring lesson ended a while ago but I teach the ones that need some extra help for a while longer. Do you want to join so you don't fall behind? — Annabeth asked.
— Yes, please. Thank you, Annabeth. — I smiled.
  — I'm sure you'll want to use the sword you got there. — She said with her eyes locked in my belt loop.
  — How do you know... It doesn't matter. I wouldn't be surprised if you just have the aegis hidden somewhere. Percy has- PERCY IS DEMIGOD. Luke's showing him around camp right now. Can you believe we fought for absolutely nothing? Sorry for that again. Anyways, he has a pen-sword thingy that when I saw for the first time I thought I was going nuts because he pulverized our algebra teacher but thats alright because she was a Fury in disguise. Not that I approve going around slaying old ladys without knowing that they are monsters but- why are you looking at me with that face? Oh, im yapping. Got it. Sorry. — This is why I had no friends.
  She chuckled.
  — Don't worry. It's seems that you two got quite the story. — Annabeth smiled.
  — Yeah. You should really meet him. He's a sweet guy. I'm sure you guys could be friends. —
Annabeth thought about it for a second.
  — We'll see. Now, let's go with the others. I'll assign you a partner for practice. — We walked to where she was standing before and she analyzed the campers.
Her sight stopped on a girl with a pink handled sword and a boy who was about to pass out from exhaustion.
— Gabriel, you can go. — Annabeth said.
The boy smiled and ran before she could change her mind.
— Silena, this is Ada Williams. Ada, this is Silena Beuregard, daughter of Aprodithe. —
— Nice to meet you. — Silena raised her hand for me to shake.
— Nice to meet you too. — I shook her hand and smiled.
— I want you two to spar, just to see what Ada needs work with. — Annabeth said.
Visually, she was what you would expect from a typical Aprodithe kid. Her pink manicure was perfect, not chipped and not too long or too short. She had light make up on, just some gloss, foundation and rimmel. She was very pretty.
Silena nodded and put on her stance.
You would think that I would instinctively know how to perform a fighting stance but when Annabeth came closer, she just Shifu'ed my every move. Silena chuckled at my clumsiness.
Annabeth told us we were free to start and she stepped back to take a good view of everyone.
— I've heard about you. — Silena said when she charged at me, I blocked her and stepped back.
— What, exactly? — I ask her as she circled around me trying to catch me slacking.
She talked when our swords clashed.
— That you have been on two fights with Clarisse and then you two got locked in a cabin together for hours. — She said slyly, smirking.
I can even feel a blush creeping on my face. Shit. I can't think, I'm too flustered.
Silena took advantage of this, kicking my knee and pushing me on the ground. I fell on my butt and she lifted the tip op her sword to my face.
— Hey, not fair. — Silena rolled her eyes laughing and she offered her hand for me.
— Thought you would have it easy because im a Aphrodite kid? — She asked bitterly mocking.
— I thought you were just bad. How would I have it easy with an Aprodithe kid? Your mom led a war. I think she would have won it if anyone had listened to Cassandra, but that's Apollo's fault. —
Silena frowned and she chuckled bitterly.
— It really shows you are new around here. Gods change when the meaning of what they represent changes. You wouldn't think that the God of War still is a protector of women, do you? —
I thought of Clarisse and what she had said to me.
My mom told me the story of Ares, Hera's favorite son and possible one of the least horrible gods. He had been the defendant in the first murder trial in history because he had killed a son of Poseidon for raping his daughter, something no male God ever did for their daughters.
I thought that Clarisse put pressure on herself because she was his father's pride and joy but if Ares had lost that part of himself and all that was left was war I couldn’t blame Clarisse for her doings.
Silena took an answer out of my silence and went back to her fighting stance.
— Come on now, don't let me distract you just now. —
I gave a deep breath and got to the fighting stance Annabeth taught me. I charged first, the blow between our swords almost sends hers flying away. I was quick to hit her sword again, I wanted to hit the tip of it so it would move out of they way and I could touch her neck but it took me some tries because I kept hitting the middle of her sword. I finally land a precise blow and did as I had planed.
Selina raised her hands in surrender and rolled her eyes.
— I think I know who I'll assign the most difficult pegasus to next class. — Silena smirked and I chuckled.
— Thank you, Silena. Everyone can go prep for lunch now! — Annabeth said when she got closer, and every kid cheered and walked away.
— Bye, Ada. I'll see you around. — Silena said as she walked away.
— Bye, Silena. —
— You won't go just yet, Ada.— The Athena girl said when I sheathed my sword.
  — I'll spar with you now. — She said.
  — Don't you think that it's embarrassing how many times I ended up in the infirmary these two days? I'm afraid Will is going to see me again and kick me out. — Annabeth rolled her eyes at me.
  — Your attacks are fast but not precise. You need to be ready for any monster attack. Not every monster is as flawed and dumb as a lestrygonian or a dracanae. —
  — How do you know I faced them? — Annabeth's body stiffened for a moment.
  — I know Grover, he told me what happened. — She didn't looked at my eyes.
The memory of the name that Grover screamed to me last night appeared on my head. He was so worked up last night, like if it was a nightmare he has go trought before; because he did.
  — He was... your satyr protector? — I asked. I focused in sounding chill, I didn't want her to think I didn't trust her.
  — He was. —
  — Yeah, I guessed so. I get why you didn't told me, its ok. I know him, he's a nice person and Im glad that he was there for Percy. — I smirked at her.
The corner of her lips curled up for a second until she cleared her throat.
  — Are you ready? — Annabeth got on her stance.
  — Not really. — I chuckled and she charged at me.
I barely managed to dodge and block her attacks. They were almost perfect, she was aiming for my weak spots with precise and fast movements.
On a risky move, I succeeded to make her drop her sword. I smiled with pride and lifted the tip my sword to point her neck (with a lot distance tho; I dont wanna kill somebody).
  — Never underestimate your opponents. — She said to quickly put on her Yankees cap and dissappear.
  — Annabeth, what the fuck? — I asked turning around trying to cover all of my sides.
Of course her attacks with her sword were just "almost perfect", it's not her preferred weapon. She had a dagger at her hip all the time and now she was going to stab me with it.
Annabeth is scary. Her steps were impossible for me to hear, hell, i couldn't even hear her armor moving. I was getting nervous, exactly was she was looking for. I calmed down by taking a few deep breaths.
I could feel the wind hitting my skin and everything in the Arena that stood in it's way.
Annabeth approached me from behind silently, mistaken that I was completely helpless. The wind bouncing off her skin gave her away and I looked over my shoulder at her when I decided she was close enough.
  — I can see you. — I felt her movements stop and quickly fully turned my body to her to push her to the ground with my shoulder and knock her cap away.
She fell to the ground with a thump and I kicked her dagger off her hand. I aimed my sword to her and she looked at me gobsmacked.
  — How? — She asked.
I smiled and offered my hand.
  — Nivir indiristimiti yir ippinints — I responded at her offended face.
  — You are bluffing. I don't know how you did it but it wont work next time. — She went to get her cap and I went for her dagger.
  — You are contradicting yourself, my friend. — I say when I hand her her weapon.
  — Stop mocking me, lighthead. — She threatened but the smile on her face gave her away.
  — Wha- Wow, nicknames stage friendship. Alright, whoie. —
  — Whoie. Seriously? — Annabeth asked.
  — I saw a bunch of your mom's little flying rats yesterday. You really look alike. — She punched me on my shoulder and rolled her eyes.
  — Come on, lighthead, enough rest. Let's see you on proper battle. — She said "proper" harsher than the rest of the sentence, of course.
I know that Annabeth is going trought the trouble of teaching me not only because she is a super nice person but because she likes the challenge of putting her skills at test and Im starting to see why myself.
It was a beautiful day to train. Zeus wasn't pissed off and you could clearly see Apollo doing his daily journey, not the mention the chirping of birds and the owls hooting. The last part is weird because it broad daylight, but knowing that the Arena is one of Athena's spaces I guess that her sacred animal wants to know what's going on here. I prefer encountering an owl than a wild boar tho, so I'm not complaining.
Now with her dagger in hand, Annabeth put her stance back on and I followed suit.
The sound of the horn got to our ears and we dropped our weapons in annoyance.
  — Come on, whoie. — I say offering my arm for her to interwine and she did.
  — Let's stop by my cabin first. I need to get out of this thing. —
Tumblr media
I entered Annabeth's cabin and waited for her as she got her armor off and placed it where the ones of her siblings where.
I took the moment to see the cabin well now that it's daylight. It is the neatest place that I have ever seen, like Pinterest level. I focused on the bed where Annabeth put her cap on and picking under her pillow there was a Polaroid of her as a kid and a Doberman .
  — Not to be nosy but you are a dobie girl? — I asked.
Annabeth turned to look at me and saw what I was looking. She came over and smirk as she grabbed the picture.
  — I'm a Collie lover because they are fluffy and smart but Zeus was the nicest boy ever. —
  — That's an accurate name for a dog. — I said and Annabeth restrained a laugh.
  — We made sure to neuter him. - Now I restrained a laugh. Im not eager to be struck by lightning again anytime soon.
  — We didn't picked his name. When I was 4, I wanted a dog and when my dad took me to the shelter I saw that Zeus was going to be sacrificed for biting and after an hour of crying we took him home. This was on his first month of training school. He was a sweetheart. — She caressed the picture with her tumb and saved it on a book.
  — I'm sorry for you loss. —
  — It's ok. We had the greatest time together. — The tone of her voice dropped.
I got up from her bed and gave her a hug. Annabeth hugged me back and she let out a single quiet sob. She broke the hug quickly.
  — Let's go, we are going to be late for lunch. — She started to make her way out of the cabin and I followed close behind.
Tumblr media
  — Why is everyone flashing blue cloths at the Ares kids? — I asked Annabeth when we were getting closer to the dining hall.
  — The blue team won Capture the Flag thanks to my plan. That's why Clarisse is specially angry these days. Wouldn't be surprised if next Friday she brakes someone's bones to get the flag. — She smiled with pride.
  — That's a little extreme, don't you think? — Annabeth stopped walking and looked directly into my eyes.
  — It's a warfare game that prepares us for whats out there and you need to be smart and ruthless if you want to win the real thing. Thats one of the few things we agree on. Besides, we banned maiming and killing, theres nothing that the Apollo cabin cant take care of. — She started to walk again, leading the way.
— Delightful. —
  ㅤׄ͜✧ׅ͡✧ׅ͡✧ׅ͡✧ׅ͡✧ׅ͡✧ׅ͡✧ׅ͡✧ׅ͡✧ׅ͡
When I we were finally on the dining hall, I looked at Hermes table and noticed Percy sitting next to Luke. Also, there was no sight of Aaron, I think it was rude of me to not had say goodbye but I didn't even saw him leave.
I said goodbye to Annabeth to go sit next to Percy but I decided to approach him from behind to scare him.
— Buh! — I taped his shoulders, he flinched and turned around with an angry look that he had never given me before.
— Oh, it's you. — His eyes softened completely.
— I thought i was going to be trown in the mud again. - He said, taking a bite of his food.
— Again? What do you mean again? — I just left his side for a bit more than an hour and I had left him with bloody Luke.
— That girl from the Ares cabin, I think. Luke made her walk away before she actually punched me or something. — Percy shrugged, I couldn’t help but frown.
I looked at Clarisse's table, she was chuckling about something with the minions she called half-siblings. She met my eyes and she had her cocky eyes and a smirk. Then she noticed at Percy, her face shifted into disgust and scoffed to later allow me to see only the back of her head.
— I wouldn't worry, Percy. Ada is friends with Clarisse. — Percy looked at me like if I had grown two more heads.
— I would rather die. — I made both of the boys laugh.
— Well, then maybe you can join us on trying to find some glory. — Luke said, Percy sighed in defeat.
— Beg you pardon? —
— Luke told me that when demigods get glory, nobody messes with them and they get noticed. So I wanted to try to find something that im good at so my dad claims me. —
I looked at Luke and he gave me a "go with the flow" nod.
— I'm all free, let's do this thing. — I say, moving Percy by the shoulders, cheering him up.
Tumblr media
The first thing I did when we got back to the cabin was fall to my knees on my sleeping bag and lay in it with my face buried on my backpack. My whole body was exhausted, we tried everything until darkness arrived and no shiny sign appeared above our heads.
Percy was remarcable at swordfighting, learning fast and adapting to Lukes moves. I decided to sit that one out, the heart attack I almost got from watching Annabeth turn invisible still haunted me. We even tried archery again but with Lee Fletcher and Michael Yew's guidence now, I shot bullseye and Percy almost shot me.
I lifted my head a little bit and saw Percy on my left sitting crossleg on his sleeping bag, staring at his hands while they picked on his shoelaces. He didn't say a word on the walk back and now he was still suffering on silence. I sat up and grabbed one of Percys hands, making him look at me.
— The most probable thing is that your dad is solving some godly issue and can't reach out right now. The important thing is that you are safe here and we are together. —
— He doesn't get to ignore me after what happened. I killed the Minotaur last night. What will it take for him to claim me? — His voice sounded angry and sad.
— Percy- —
— Clarisse doesn't believe me and I have the horn and everything. What if my dad is just as stupid? —
— Percy, Clarisse can go fuck off. I saw you stab him and im sure your dad is just as proud as I am. I know how bad it sucks but we need to be patient. — I squeezed his hand to ground him and he sighed again.
— How are you dealing with all of this? — He asked, grabbing my other hand.
When I was younger, it used to hurt not having him around. Especially when my classmates talked about how they were their daddy's princesses. I used to think that I was missing something but I got older and learned how shitty a dad can be. Sometimes I felt like I dodged a bullet.
Now, to make things even worse, he was a god. To be honest, I don't know what that makes me. There were many demigods heroes but many more lived unnoticed. Maybe I'll end up living how I have lived to my fathers eyes: Irrelevant. Maybe that was for the best.
— I lived trought twelve Fathers Day and many Father-Daugther dances. I don't need him for me to know who I am. Neither do you. — Percy pulled me for a hug.
— Thank you for everything that you've done for me, sis. — He said on the crook of my neck and hugged me tight.
— Thank you too, bro. —
We broke up the hug and Luke walked to us.
— Hey guys, the camp fire is going to start soon. You should get ready if you want to be there. — He said. We thanked him and he left to chat with Chris.
— Do you want to go? — Percy asked.
— Nah, I'm just going to take a shower and get some sleep. You should go with Luke and the others. Just do me the favor of listen to people so we can discuss all the tea over tea tomorrow morning. — Percy rolled his eyes.
— Maybe you are Helios daughter. You know, the gossiper. —
— Helios is a titan. —
— Again with mansplainig. Don't you have to go shower? You smell so bad im gonna puke all over you. —
— Ew, Percy, you are gross. — I push him to the ground as I got up and we laugh.
Tumblr media
I got off my long shower and I could still hear the laughter coming from the camp fire. I gather my clothes and my towel in a tote bag and leave the showers.
— HELP! —
My heart dropped at the far scream. The despair in it wasn't what got me dropping everything and running to the woods, it was that that voice belongs to Annabeth.
The screams continued and they got louder and closer as I entered the woods area. I encountered a cave where the screams echoed and I entered without hesitation.
— ANNABETH. — I called as I ran trought the caves long entrance.
— ADARA. — She screamed, it came from way deep.
I only stopped because I got to the end of the cave. It was a round space with no way out or in other than the way I come from.
The openings on the roof let in the dim light of the moon, being the only way to see here.
It was dead silent.
I felt my brooch on the pocket of my shorts and unsheathed the sword.
— ANNABETH. — My scream echoed on the rock and nobody answered.
From within the shadows in front of me, a figure emerged growling. It was a lion, a giant one.
I gripped my sword tighter, bracing for was going to happen.
The lion made a deep, guttural roar and jump at me with his claws aiming for my head. I rolled to the side and slashed his front paw with my sword. It only made it angrier, not a scratch on the beast.
— ANNABETH, RUN AWAY! — Her silence was terrifying me. I didn't know if she was invisible or dead.
With every attempt to dig its claws into me, I would either block its paw or roll away.
It's so dark and cold here. I don't know how no one showed up yet. Annabeth's screams were loud and the camp fire was closer to the woods than the showers. I don't even know if Annabeth is injured or went to get help.
I feel so powerless and scared but I can't let my emotions take over. I needed to help my friend.
I decided to take deep breaths before the lion can feel I'm quivering.
I know the myth of the Nemean Lion. I know it can die but I'm not even half as strong as Heracles. I couldn’t choke him and his skin is impenetrable.
His skin is impenetrable. It can be killed.
He shows me all his set of teeth when he tries to bite me. I need to take action or he will tire me down and kill us.
I charge at him taking a claw on my left arm just below my shoulder, it tears my skin but my grip on my sword doesn't falter. I go face to face with the beast, he opens his jaw to bite my head off but I stick my sword deep into his throat.
The lion turns to dust leaving a cape where he stood.
— Annabeth? — I asked in the darkness.
My left arm went limp and I could feel the blood drops staining my leg. I used the light of my sword to see the corners of the cave but it was all empty.
I turn to the exit, desesperate to get out of here but I feel very dizzy, my legs are starting to become jelly and I was deep into the woods, far away from the part of them were the most dangerous threat was a humiliated nymph.
I grab the cape and place it on my shoulders so I wouldn't be a easy dinner for the monster that comes to finish me off.
I get out and the feeling of the sky above me relieved me. The fresh air allowed me to think clearly and I begin to stumble to the cabins.
— ANNABETH. — I kept calling for ger until my voice started to sound hoarse from all the shouting and I still didn't get an answer.
I could smell and see the big smoke come out of the camp fire but I couldn't continue walking, I felt so lightheaded.
Ha.
I dropped to my knees and my sword slipped out of my hand. I saw my left arm, the four claw mark was deeper and larger than I thought, my arm seemed like a slices of ham and from the wound down it was all red.
I cursed myself for not saving my ambrosia bag on my shorts and leave it on the tote bag instead.
I feel so upset, scared and angry. I don't know what happened to Annabeth or what will happen to me. My vision is blurry and my ears are buzzing.
Thunder began to roar in the sky and the wind picked up. I raised my eyes to the sky and felt the need for it. I could feel the charges filling the air and the despairing distance between the cumulonimbus and me.
In a desesperate move, I raised my hand to try to touch the sky followed by a tug on my gut, the voltage raised and lightning strucked me.
It felt like drinking hundreds of energy drinks without having a heart attack and instead feeling like you'd been to a spa. The energy not only healed my pain, it also made me feel better rested than I have ever felt.
I let the energy ran trought my body for a few minutes with my eyes closed, drinking in the feeling until I remembered my duty.
The voltage dropped and my bliss died down.
I opened my eyes and saw Chiron and almost all campers in front of me, ten meters away.
Amongst all the campers I noticed Annabeth, unharmed, and she seemed to be expecting something. Then I saw Luke who had a stone face and a hand on my scared brother. I even noticed Clarisse and her angry face.
I stood up in surprise and the centaur was the first to approach me.
— Ada- — Chiron interrupted his talking and walking.
He looked above my head with worried eyes and cleared his throat, putting himself together, to then look at my eyes.
— You have been claimed by Zeus, Thunderbringer, Lightning wielder, King of Gods. Adara Williams, daughter of Zeus. —

Oh yes, teacher AU please 😏
I mean how can I not 🤷🏼‍♀️
HAHA we were just talking about this so ofc! i started writing it months ago, but lately i've revisited it to flesh out the story a lil bit.
let me set the scene: jack is a 7th grade english teacher working on his first Big Project (either a novel or a play - i'm between the two rn, but i'm leaning towards play) that he's....kinda stuck on. he doesn't love being a teacher either, just sees it as a temporary job til he gets published (can u see the incoming character arc? lol)
so, he's a bit lost. he's got his best friend trevor (who teaches 8th grade science), and he's got his brother/roommate luke (who pays the majority of the rent w his swanky ahl contract), but that's it.
until he meets nico at the bar one night, who's new in town (and also hot and mysterious). and wow! jack finally has a life outside of school....a way to separate his work/home life and a chance at love!
until he shows up on monday and sees that nico is the newest gym teacher lol. cue hilarity and nico trying to seduce jack in the broom closet. jack has to reassess the way he separates his personal and work life and how they intersect - and fall in love in the process ofc.
it's very much a rom-com but i wanna explore jack's identity as a writer and teacher, and give him some room to figure himself out :) i just finished Writers & Lovers by Lily King (highly recommend!!!), which is major inspo for this new direction.
here's a (slightly ~spicy~) snippet:
***
Jack clicks his tongue. “I don’t wanna talk about work. It’s…exhausting sometimes.”
“Hence the bar?”
“Pretty much.” He regards Nico, just sitting there—the hottest man in this whole place—and plays with the straw in his glass. “But I’m feeling better now.” It’s cheesy, he knows, but Nico flushes anyway. Jack is really liking how easy this man is to read.
“And why is that?”
And Jack can’t help himself. He lowers his voice. “Well, I’m hoping the handsome European in front of me is going to ask me to go home with him.”
Jack expects Nico to be surprised at his forwardness, but he just grins like the cat who got the cream. “A little presumptuous, hm?” he asks, goading—devilish.
Jack smiles, darting his tongue out to lick the lime juice off his lips. “Am I out of line? I’d hate to assume…”
Nico takes a calculated sip. He leans in close. “Jack, I’ve wanted to ask you that as soon as I laid eyes on you.”
Jack shivers just the tiniest bit. It's the air conditioning, surely. “Yeah?”
Nico eyes him. His lips shine. “Yeah.”
They finish their drinks quickly after that.
“I should probably warn you,” Nico says in their Uber to his apartment just a few blocks up. They would’ve walked if they had any kind of patience. “My place isn’t very furnished.”
Jack’s hand is tracing patterns on Nico’s quad—this man has to work out. He wonders what he does for work. Construction, maybe? He never did mention, but then again, neither did Jack.
“Do you have a bed?” he asks. His hand crawls towards Nico’s inner thigh and he hears a sharp intake of breath.
“Yes.”
“Sounds suitably furnished to me.”
They’re on each other as soon as Nico’s front door closes, greedy hands finding purchase on any pull of fabric or strip of skin they can find. Nico’s mouth finds Jack’s in the dark, meeting him in a blazing kiss that makes Jack’s hairs stand on end and fireworks light behind his eyelids. Nico’s like a magnet—or a planet, pulling Jack in to orbit around him. Jack surrenders to it easily, and he doesn’t give himself time to even worry he’s being too needy about it.
It takes them a while to get through the small apartment, pushing each other up against walls or furniture to make out some more, Nico getting distracted by Jack’s wandering hands and Jack getting distracted by Nico mouthing marks that will definitely bruise along his jaw. Thank God it isn’t a school night; his students would have a field day with that one.
Blissful, adrenaline-fueled minutes elapse over Jack, and he doesn’t even register they’ve gotten to Nico’s bedroom until the backs of his knees bump against his bed and he goes tumbling backwards with a surprised yelp. Nico tumbles with him, shifting his weight so he doesn't crush him. He’s chuckling into Jack’s neck, and the sound vibrates through his head, swimming alongside the subtle buzz from the gimlets and Jack’s own desire, burning like an uncovered flame with an endless supply of oxygen.
Nico leans back, his hair thoroughly mussed from Jack’s fingers raking through it. A sliver of moonlight from the window illuminates his beautiful face.
“What do you want, Jack?” he asks, voice barely above a whisper. He sounds like he’d do absolutely anything Jack would ask him to.
The moment feels tight with anticipation, a Schrödinger’s cat of possibility. Jack leans up and kisses Nico sweetly, and drops his head back on the pillow.

and that's where i have to stop before it gets actually nsfw lmaooo
i'm so pumped to keep writing this. thanks for the ask <3333

Romantic Snippet Tag
Tagged by @new-royston-cursebreakers, thank you!
A slight problem with romantic snippets comes with the fact that I don't write romance all that much, and one of the main protagonists of The Remnants of Shadows is aro/ace, so no romance happening there.
However, I did some digging in one of my old drafts of TROS, and found Alekto, one of Ashes' old colleagues at The Black Swan talking about his boyfriend, and I think that's as good a romantic snippet as any.
"How's Luke?" I ask. We always make some kind of small talk between customers, and today it feels like it's my turn to start the conversation. "Oh, he's fine. He's really busy, you know, working at the council and all that, but we're managing to sneak some time in together where we can." "That's why you were late today, right?" "Yeah. Jett wanted my head, but I managed to calm her down enough. If I do it again though, you'll be saying goodbye to me for the rest of time" "Yeah, you said." I shiver, and he smirks. "Bet you can't wait for that though, eh?" "I'm... not going to answer that," I laugh, " But I bet Luke would be disappointed. "Nah, we all know that the Clarke bloodline dies with him, he was just keeping me around for the company." "Wouldn't he miss that?" "I'll leave him a cat in my will, that'll sort him out." "Of course" "What about you? You got a special someone out there, waiting for you to return from the battlefield that is tavern work?" "Me? No, I've never really had any sort of feelings like that. People often pity me for it, but I don't care that much. What benefit is there?" "Well, I appreciate having someone else in my life to share moments with and who understands me. I never had that before Luke." "Hm. I think I understand, but I don't think I'll ever really get it." "Is that a bad thing? Do you want to get it?" "I think, a lot of the time, that kind of "love" ends in heartbreak, and I don't want to risk it by wanting to open my heart to someone who might tear it apart." "So you wouldn't want to, even if you could?" "Exactly." "Right. I- I can't say I understand, but I suppose it makes sense." "Thanks."

Yearning and Learning
Summary: Penelope realizes that she may in fact be projecting her feelings for one person onto someone else. (An episode fix-it taking place after 16.6)
Word count: 2140
Can also be read here on Ao3
"I gotta get back to the office," Penelope told him. She didn't know why she told him that he should wait at her apartment, but she did. Right before getting into her taxi, Penelope turned around and kissed him. He kissed her back.
When she finally pulled back, Luke's smiling face was looking down at her. Then she got into her taxi and disappeared into the night.
And then she woke up.
Penelope rubbed her eyes and groaned. Every day since kissing Tyler Green, she'd had that dream. It was the exact same scenario in which she kissed Green, but her subconscious had replaced him with Luke. She'd try to ignore these dreams, but it was proving more and more difficult with each passing night. The kiss had happened on a Wednesday. It was now Saturday morning. She knew she wasn't supposed to be dreaming of kissing someone else, especially not when she liked the person she was kissing in real life. Because Penelope did like Tyler, didn't she? She didn't know.
But of course she did. He was sweet… after a little bit. And he wasn't bad to look at… although she'd seen better. And he bought her that cat… which was kind of a presumptuous gift. And he wasn't a bad kisser… but she'd had better. And he'd complimented her, called her the best… but he certainly wasn't the only one who'd done that. Who cared if he was considerably younger than her?
As much as she tried to fight it… her mind went back to Luke. Sweet, beautiful, amazing Luke. He was nice to her from the very beginning. Even when she wasn't nice to him. He was one of the most attractive men she'd ever had the pleasure of knowing. He'd bought her that squeaky cat, the one she still had, just to make her smile. He'd never been one to shy away from how highly he thought of her. And he was a fantastic kisser. Even if it had only happened once. Plus, he was age-appropriate. But that didn't matter. Right?
Her brain kept drawing comparisons between Tyler and Luke. It soon became impossible to deny. Everything Tyler had done, Luke had done first. And done better. And he’d done more. He’d held her while she was crying. Multiple times, in fact. He danced with her, he smiled at her, he tried to work well with her. It quickly became clear to Penelope that every reason she liked Tyler had been a reason she liked Luke. But no, that wasn't quite right. Everything Tyler did only reminded her of Luke. Every reason she thought she liked Tyler was because it was a reason why she liked Luke. Why she loved Luke.
So she picked up her phone and texted Tyler.
Hey. We need to talk.
He replied after half an hour.
K. Call or F2F?
Penelope cringed slightly. The way he texted her… maybe she did have a problem with their age difference.
Face to face.
👍👍. Mine or urs?
Yep, she definitely had a problem with the age gap. It was like dating a child. It made her feel icky.
Yours. That way she could leave once she told him and it would lessen the risk of him going somewhere and doing something stupid like he'd done after finding out about Alison. Not that she was saying that this was going to be in any way comparable to finding out his sister was dead, but she didn't fully trust the way he responded to bad news.
When Penelope arrived at Tyler's he tried to kiss her hello, but she pulled back.
"Oh," he said, picking up on it instantly. "It's that kind of talk."
"Yeah… look, Tyler, I believe you're a good guy, but I don't have those feelings for you and I don't want to string you along. What happened the other day… it can't happen again, I'm really sorry, it's just–"
"It's that other agent, isn't it?" Tyler asked, cutting her off. "Alvez? Was that his name?"
Penelope nodded bashfully, stunned at being so obvious.
"Yeah," Tyler laughed humorlessly. "I clocked that right the fuck away. I mean I kinda hoped I was wrong, obviously, especially after the other day, but, guess not."
Penelope tried to reach out for him. "I'm sorry, Tyler, I–"
He jerked his arm away from her. "Don't. Just, don't, okay? Do us both a favor and just go, okay?" He gestured at his door with a Well? What are you waiting for? expression on his face.
Penelope nodded once, then turned around and walked out of both his home and life forever. When she got back in her car, she gripped the steering wheel and tried to steel her nerves. That had gone over about as well as she'd expected, but she still had one more conversation to have. And that one was far more daunting.
So she texted Luke.
Hey, I need to talk to you about something important. Not work-related, don't worry. Can I come over?
He responded instantly. She smiled, because of course he did. It was Luke. He'd never leave her waiting.
Yeah, of course. You know you're always welcome. Plus, I think Roxy misses you.
This was accompanied by a photo of the aforementioned dog, which only made Penelope smile harder.
Oh look at the beautiful face!
I'll be over in fifteen?
His response was, again, instantaneous.
See you then 😊
Taking a deep breath, Penelope stashed her phone in her purse and started her car. She could do this. She could do this.
When she arrived at Luke's she was greeted by an over-enthusiastic dog and that smile. His lips pulled gently open revealing his pearly white teeth, his eyes bright. He almost looked like he was glowing when he smiled at her like that. God, she loved that smile. When she was looking at him and that smile, it was like nothing else existed for a moment.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” Luke asked her, snapping her out of her trance and pulling her back into the moment.
Right. She was here to talk to him. About important things. “I kissed Tyler Green,” she blurted out. Well, shit. That wasn’t how she’d meant to start things.
To say that Luke was taken aback would be the grossest understatement of all time. “O-oh,” he stammered. “When did that happen?”
“About five days ago.”
Luke’s heart was breaking, but he refused to let it show on his face. As her friend, he needed to be happy for her. As someone who loved her he needed to be happy for her. If this had been a few days then she probably wasn’t too against it. She was probably happy. He needed to be happy that she was happy, even if it wasn’t with him, because that’s what loving someone was. “I’m happy for you,” he told her, trying to convince himself as much as her. “I’m glad you’re happy with him.”
“Don’t,” she said, almost forcefully. “Don’t be happy for me, don’t be happy that I’m with him, because I’m not.” She paused, thoughts scrambled. “Happy. I’m not happy. Or with him.”
“I’m confused,” he told her, eyes squinting. “What are you saying, then?” Why are you telling me?
Penelope knew she had to tell him, and she had to tell him right then so he could understand. “I’m in love with you. I know I ended things between us but I am so good at running away from serious things and the fact that I wanted that with you was terrifying to me and I didn’t want us to have a falling out and then I’d lose you, I can’t lose you. I thought I was able to get over it and just be your friend but then I kissed him and I realized that every reason I thought I liked him was because he reminded me of you, that I wanted it to be you, that I still love you. And every night since I’ve kissed him I’ve had this recurring dream where it was you I was kissing and not him. And I’m sorry if it’s not fair of me to dump this on you, I’m sorry if this is unrequited, but you need to know. I need you to know.”
And all of a sudden Luke found himself completely at a loss for words for the second time in as many minutes. The only thing his stunned mind could think of to say was, “You think it’s unrequited?” Then, “Sorry, that was a lot of information to process all at once, give me a minute?”
“Take your time,” Penelope told him, smiling. She would have been nervous, but even in his stunned state the first thing he could think to do was inadvertently tell her that he loved her too.
Luke mentally broke down everything she had said. She wasn’t with Green. Wonderful. She was in love with him. Amazing. Nothing could make him happier. She had ended things because she wanted something serious but was scared of the possible fallout. Well that could be easily delt with. He’d spent the last seven years loving her, he wasn’t stopping any time soon. She couldn’t lose him. He couldn’t lose her. It was his biggest fear. When she kissed Green all she could think about was him. Well that was flattering as hell. He wondered if she had compared their kissing abilities. He wondered if she thought he was better than Green. He certainly hoped so. She had dreamt about him taking Green’s place (repeatedly,) so it was definitely a possibility. She thought her love could be unrequited. That was the only thing she had said that he had any issues with. How could she not see how in love with her he was? How he’d loved her for seven whole years and had been just waiting for her to notice? How he would do anything for her? No, that would not do. She needed to know. If she could be brave, so could he.
“Penelope, I love you too,” he told her. “So much. First and foremost, that is what you need to know. Thank you for telling me all this, seriously, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. I kind of wish it hadn’t taken you kissing someone else for us to get here, but I’m glad we finally got here. I want something serious with you too, I always have. I’ve loved you for seven years, Penelope, you don’t have to be worried about me going anywhere. Losing you is my biggest fear, so if we both want this to be something… I think we’ve got a real shot.”
Penelope smiled at his passionate admission. “I think so too.”
Luke stepped close to her, wrapping one arm around her waist and placing his other hand on her cheek. She leaned into the touch, smiling at him, and he smiled back. “So… are we finally doing this? For real, this time?”
Penelope looped her arms around his neck. "I think we've waited long enough. Don't you?"
“I hope you know that if I finally get you, I am never letting you go," he told her. "This is going to be a forever kind of thing. I'm not losing you again."
“I know,” Penelope said, leaning in and pressing her lips against Luke’s. “I’m counting on it.”
And that kiss… was somehow infinitely better than their first, as wonderful as that had been. Penelope found that she didn’t actually regret kissing Tyler Green. How could she, if it led her to her happiest moment? They kissed and they kissed and they kissed until they couldn’t breathe anymore, so then they caught their breath and then kissed some more. They spent the whole day together, making up for lost time. They spent the night together too, although nothing happened. They just held each other through the night, reveling in the fact that this was something they could finally do. Penelope ended up staying the whole weekend, only going home briefly to get Sergio, some changes of clothes, and some allergy pills for Luke.
When they got to work on Monday, she kissed him lightly before heading off to her office. He stared after her for a moment before heading to his own desk, a gentle smile gracing his lips. He hadn’t stopped smiling like that the past forty-eight hours.
“That smile’s seven years in the making,” Tara whispered to him when he sat down, a teasing smile on her face.
“Yeah,” Luke said, looking off in the direction of Penelope’s office. He wasn’t surprised that Tara had already figured them out, and he found he didn’t really care. “I don’t mind, though. She was worth waiting for.”

Okay i sended my request before i finished it basicly MC died became a angel and is dating 1 of the most powerfull demon that their is then threw whine at God to become a demon (luke and simeon saw it all happen) cause they want to be with the brothers and their reasons?
They wanted to be a demon, they are gonna live their life however they want and nobody is stop them not even fucking God himself and how many people get to say they threw whine at God only 1 and thats MC *proud MC noises*🥴😁🤪
Just how would everyone react? or if you don't want to do everyone just the brothers
HELLO, I JUST WANTED TO SAY I LOVE YOU /p
It's not everyday that you get to write about someone throwing wine at God.
Also, I decided to do the brothers with Simeon and Luke!
I'M SO SORRY THIS IS LATE, MY BRAIN HASN'T BEEN WORKING SO IT'S HARD TO THINK
I also went off track, if you want me to rewrite it, please tell me </3
Requests open! Please request at @local-pansexual-writer !
The brothers, Simeon, and Luke reacting to Angel MC throwing wine at God to become a demon
Warning: A little angst (MC's death) and a little vulgar language
I hope I got that right-
I also did not proof read this
Lucifer
When MC died, Lucifer already knew that they were becoming an angel.
He didn't like that but he didn't want to be selfish, so he overworked himself to not think about it.
That is until MC comes to his office, in a demon form with a proud look on their face.
Lucifer first thought he was imagining things until MC ran to him and gave him a hug while he was sitting down.
He was in shock for almost a minute but he quickly gave MC a hug, got them on his lap, and pulled them in for a kiss, not caring that he broke his composure.
But then Lucifer realized that they were a demon, what happened?
MC quickly told him the story.
"Well, being an angel wasn't so fun, I just missed you guys. So I decided to throw wine at God because he has the audacity to boss me around!"
Lucifer was very starstruck, MC threw wine... at God?
Fucking loves MC so much.
It's hard to see someone else living your dream. Marry him now.
Of course he's still concerned for MC because they did just become a demon.
Lucifer will take in the pride of having a partner who threw wine at fucking God.
He may or may not tease MC sometimes.
"You never learn do you?"
Mammon
Mammon became depressed after MC's death, they were like his other half.
Now they're probably with the angels so he'll never see them again.
He just gambled away all his money and got into more debt.
That was until Mammon came back to his room and seeing MC sitting on his bed, waving at him.
Didn't even think for a minute and ran to them, hugging and kissing them while they both sunk on the bed.
But after they stand up from the bed, he finally starts thinking and is confused on how they're in the Devildom.
MC tells him the story while having a proud face.
"I threw wine at God! I just want to be free and not follow so many rules."
Starts laughing nonstop, imagining his Father's face.
Ruffles MC's hair.
"I'm proud of ya!"
Leviathan
When MC died, he would not get out of his room.
Games and anime abandoned because they somehow remind him of MC.
His brothers needed to force him to eat and get some fresh air.
While he was ranting to Henry, MC bursts into his room.
Levi was SHOOK and was a little frightened thinking that it was one of his brothers to force him out until he heard their voice.
"I'm back!~"
Levi never got up so fast and ran to MC, hugging them hard.
His awkward attitude got thrown out the window, he was just relieved to see MC again.
That was until he remembered they were in the Devildom, he has lots of questions.
MC excitedly told him what happened.
"Well, I was starting to get bored and tired as an angel so I decided to throw wine at God!"
Needed a minute to comprehend it but when he did, he started laughing.
Wishes MC got a picture of it.
"I wish I had your confidence!"
Satan
When MC died, he really didn't know what to do.
Satan tried reading books but it was hard when there's a slight comparison to MC.
He tried going to cat cafes but it just reminded him of MC.
Satan was cleaning a classroom when someone hugged him from behind.
He quickly turned around, ready to push them away until he saw it was MC.
Quickly hugs and kisses MC, he's really excited to see them back and already starts thinking of date plans.
Until he realizes that MC was in their demon form, weren't they suppose to be an angel?
MC's face lights up and quickly tells him.
"God was giving me a lot of orders to do so I decided to throw wine at him!"
Takes a minute to process.
But then Satan starts laughing and pats their head.
Secretly, he was REAL proud of them. I mean, God did kill his sister right?
New date idea: Drinking wine.
"You will always be a troublemaker, won't you?"
Asmodeus
Starts going out to parties less and less after MC's death.
Asmo tries to keep up with appearance but it feels like a chore.
He'll sulk around his room, trying to think that MC is happy in the Celestial Realm.
Until someone kicks open his door. Asmo is ready to scold one of his brothers (Mammon) but his words get stuck in his throat when he sees MC.
They both run to each other and Asmo will hug h a r d that MC needs to ask to breathe.
MC only gets 1 second to breathe until they get attacked with kisses all around their face.
Asmo only realizes that MC is a demon when he remembers why he was sulking around.
MC excitedly tells him the story.
"I threw wine at God! You should've seen his face!"
H u h . . H U H
Kind of worried? I mean, MC did throw wine at GOD.
But that was kind of hot of MC?
That's one of his reasons on why he loves MC, they're fearless! It's kind of a problem sometimes
Though, Asmo is disappointed you didn't take any pictures. He could've posted it on Devilgram!
"You're so fearless!~ But I think we should set up on some boundaries..."
Beelzebub
Didn't eat a lot after MC died, even if his stomach growled REALLY loud.
His brothers forced him to eat because it was too loud.
Everyone was concerned for him.
While he was sitting at the dining table, looking at his plate of food, until he heard MC's voice.
"You're not gonna eat that?"
Never hugged someone so fast.
Even if he hugged MC fast, he was still surprised to see them.
Weren't they suppose to be in the Celestial Realm?
"Oh yeah... The Celestial Realm... Well I threw wine at God so I could come back here! He was kind of a bitch too..."
W-What
Yeah he was happy that MC was back with him but throwing WINE at GOD?
Worry chuckle.
He's also kind of proud though?
God deserved that honestly.
"You should be more careful MC... But since you're back, how about we eat? I'm hungry..."
Belphegor
Would not stop sleeping.
But even in his sleep, he felt cold, no matter how many blankets.
Belphie was used to MC's warmth.
On some nights he can't sleep, he tries to hold one of MC's favorite plushies.
While sleeping, he suddenly woke up because he felt a familiar warmth.
Quickly opened his eyes to see MC grinning at him.
Belphie became WOKE and hugged them tightly.
But then he realized, slowly but surely, that they aren't an angel.
MC told him the story.
"Well... I threw wine at God because he's so bossy. I just wanted freedom, y'know? You should've seen his face!
Belphie being Belphie, broke out laughing.
Is PROUD of MC.
Belphie kept imagining God's face, he wishes MC took a picture, he would've made it his lockscreen and laugh at it.
"Good job MC! I wish I could do that too!"
Simeon and Luke
(Writing them together)
What did they just watch?
Simeon and Luke saw how angry MC was to be in the Celestial Realm but didn't think they would throw WINE AT GOD.
Luke quickly brings napkins to God while Simeon calms MC down.
They are both thinking "Is this a dream??"
Didn't think MC would have that AUDACITY.
Simeon and Luke visit MC in the Devildom.
"Why would you do that! That was really unreasonable of you MC! Good thing we were there to calm God down!" Luke yelled out of concern.
"MC, you shouldn't pull stunts like that." said Simeon, also concerned.
"Serves him right! Shouldn't have been so bossy with me." Huffs MC.
In the end, Simeon and Luke are happy that MC is okay.

SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONGGGG
AND SORRY IF IT WASN'T WHAT YOU WANTED </3
BUT THANKS FOR REQUESTING!! :D

Tumblr media
Everyone’s voices were so muffled that for a moment it felt as if you were under water. It came and went just like the warmth, just like the comfort—
One moment there, the other moment far away, and anytime you tried to reach through that haze, you were pushed back into the numbness.
You could swear at some point your father was there too. You were still at the cabin, in that dress, sitting across from him by the chessboard, and then back at the weekend house where your sister was chasing you around the piano, your mother calling out for you to stop running, then someone pushing you into the lake by the cabin before it changed again and your father handed you a knife.
If this is hell, I’d like to talk to the manager.
But eventually, it all came back to you. There was this heaviness on your hand, your chest and ribs hurt terribly and your forehead kept stinging as you tried to open your eyes to meet the bright lights of the hospital room.
Ah. You weren’t in the woods anymore.
You had made it after all.
The constant beeping of the machine caught your attention for a moment before you looked down to see Spencer’s head resting on your hand, his fingers entwined with yours. Your mother was by the couch, her eyes fixed on the ceiling with a crumpled tissue in her hand and Mina was resting her head on her shoulder.
“Mom?” you rasped out and your mother’s eyes whipped to yours, Mina sat up and Spencer’s head shot up.
“Oh thank God!” your mother jumped out of her seat to come to your beside and pressed a kiss on top of your head, making you wince. “Oh thank God you’re okay…”
“Hey,” Mina wiped at her eyes and cleared her throat, “Welcome back brat.”
You smiled and turned to Spencer who was still holding your hand tight, watching you with bloodshot eyes.
“I know,” you said, “No eyeliner right?”
A small sob mixed with laughter rose from his throat and he pressed your hand to his lips, swallowing thickly.
“Hi.”
“Hey professor,” you tried to smile but you were in too much pain to do so, “Is there like…a morphine button or-?”
“I’ll go get the doctor,” Mina rushed out of the room and closed the door behind her, and your mother pulled back.
“How do you feel honey?”
“Like I crawled out of hell,” you said, “Is- is everyone okay?”
“Everyone is fine.”
“Where’s Lily?”
“With Kenzie and Nolan, outside.”
You let out a breath and turned to Spencer.
“You figured it out?” you asked, “The note?”
“Ophelia, yeah,” he sniffled and nodded fervently, “Cabin by the lake, we were on our way there when—” he stopped talking as if remembering it was way too heavy on him and you squeezed his hand.
“How did I….” you looked between them, “Survive? Erica shot me.”
“The helicopter,” your mother said, “We sent it with a medic and a sniper just in case.”
“You sent a helicopter with a medic and a sniper?” you repeated, “Mom, that sounds like a joke.”
“Well I’m glad you find it funny,” your mother wiped at her eyes again, “Because you’re grounded for the rest of your life.”
“Okay,” you shot a look at Spencer, “Ignore this.”
“No, not even your boyfriend can help you right now.”
“They still like you, no worries,” you explained and he shook his head slightly, reaching out to touch your cheek as if trying to prove to himself that you were real.
“I thought—“ he started and blinked back the tears, gritting his teeth and you rubbed your thumb over his hand.
“I’m fine,” you said and lifted your head when the thought hit you, “Wait what happened to Lincoln?”
A shadow crossed Spencer’s eyes and your mother flexed her fingers as if she wanted to throttle someone upon hearing his name.
“That monster is currently handcuffed to a hospital bed,” she said, “But not to worry, we put ten guards in front of his door, and I will make sure to ruin his life myself.”
“He survived?”
“Barely,” Spencer said through his teeth but before he could say anything else, the door opened and a doctor stepped in. Even you could hear Lily’s very loud protests, Kenzie trying to shush her and you smiled slightly before turning to the doctor who was checking the file in her hand.
“Hello Y/N,” she said cheerfully “Nice to see you awake, for a moment you had me worried we wouldn’t get to meet. So, we have head trauma, a bullet wound, broken ribs and blood loss. Were you trying to fill out a bingo of dangerous injuries or…?”
“Go big or go home doc,” you nodded and she raised her brows.
“Should I put in a psychiatric evaluation in here as well then?”
“Yes please,” your mother pinched the bridge of her nose and you heaved a sigh, making a face.
“Pain?”
“A lot.”
“Let’s see what we can do about that,” she said and Spencer stood up.
“Can I see her chart please?” he asked and she took almost taken aback before showing him the chart.
“I’d like to change these two meds,” Spencer said and started listing off his suggestions while you watched him with a smile on your face.
“Spencer,” you said, “Please let the nice and smart lady do her job.”
The doctor grinned at you, “That’s alright. Is there anything you would like to ask me?”
“Two questions. One, when can I go home?”
“We’d like to keep you under observation for a couple of days, depending on how fast your body shows progress to heal.”
“Okay. Can I smoke here?”
“Oh Jesus Christ,” your mother threw her head back, Spencer just stared at you and the doctor blinked a couple of times.
“Since this job taught me never to take any question as hypothetical,” she said, “I’m just going to answer it. No, under absolutely no circumstances are you allowed to smoke here.”
You curled your lips, “It was worth a try.”
“We’ll give you some really good painkillers, don’t worry,” she winked, “I’ll let the rest of your family in and see you later.”
She walked to the door and opened it, and soon enough Lily rushed inside but as soon as she leaped at you, Kenzie caught her mid-air like a troublesome cat.
“No, what did I say outside?”
“But mama—“
“It’s okay Kenz. Hi bug.”
Kenzie gave you a teary eyed smile and slowly set Lily down, and she hugged her teddy bear before taking a step towards you, nibbling on her lip.
“Does it hurt?” she pointed at the stitches on your forehead and you tilted your head.
“Just a little, sweetie.”
She carefully put the teddy bear beside your bed and grinned at you.
“Mr. Chocolate Chip Cookie will be your friend here,” she patted the teddy bear’s head and you let out a small laugh.
“I really appreciate it bug, thank you,” you said and held the teddy bear in your lap before you turned to Nolan. “Hey man, thanks for the helicopter.”
“Thanks for the almost heart attack,” he replied and fixed his bowtie, “You keep me young with all this panic and adrenaline. Honestly Y/N, never do that to us again, please.”
“I’ll try my best not to get kidnapped by a maniac again,” you stated, “Besides, mom already grounded me so…”
“Good! No jet for you for a while young lady.”
A nurse came in to inject the painkiller into your IV, and you smiled at the sight of your family fondly, then cleared your throat.
“Hey, not that I didn’t miss you guys,” you said, “But um…can I talk to Spencer for a moment?”
Kenzie and Mina exchanged looks and Kenzie lifted Lily up.
“We’ll be right outside,” she said and walked to the door. One by one they left the room and your jaw dropped when you saw Mina squeezing Spencer’s shoulder before she left as well.
“Well, something changed,” you commented and Spencer came to pull a chair next to the bed before he reached out to hold your hand.
“She was the first one to talk to me when we landed,” his voice still didn’t sound so strong and you frowned.
“What did she say?”
“Go there and bring my sister back.” Spencer said and ran a hand over his eyes, “Based on the profile, I thought he’d already—“ he couldn’t even finish that sentence before he kissed the back of your hand, “I thought I lost you.”
“Nah, cigarettes will kill me, not serial killers,” you reached out to push a curl out of his eyes, “I thought you knew that. All looks and no smarts, aren’t you?”
He scoffed a shaky laugh and you licked your lips.
“What happened there?” you asked, “I heard gunshots after Erica shot me, is she—“
“Dead,” Spencer nodded, “She was shot right there.”
You could feel the goosebumps on your skin, “And Lincoln?”
“I was going to kill him,” Spencer said, “If I got there first, I would’ve.”
“Spencer you don’t mean that.”
“I do,” he told you, a dangerous light gleaming in his eyes, “I do mean that.”
You heaved a sigh, now easier thanks to the painkillers, “Yeah well, I guess I know the feeling.”
“Um- the team is outside as well by the way,” he said, “Luke and Garcia has been here the whole night, and I’ve been instructed to tell you, word by word, no amount of pastries will excuse the worry you put them through.”
You grinned, the tired haze of sleep crashing on you, “Ouch, I’ll have to try harder I guess,” you said and yawned, making Spencer smile.
“Rest a little,” he said, “I’ll stay right here, okay?”
You nodded and leaned your head back to the pillows, then closed your eyes.
                                                 ***
You were given the permission to go home after a week because your mother insisted on keeping you there until she was convinced you wouldn’t drop dead all of a sudden. Surprisingly enough, she didn’t raise hell when you told her you would be staying at Spencer’s place for a while, and for once, Mina agreed with you.
You really needed to ask Spencer what had happened while you were gone, in detail.
It was strange, but your sleep was much less disturbed after you had returned from the hospital. When you were in hospital you had just assumed it was because of the meds they had given you, but now, sleeping with Spencer in his bed, there was still no sign of any nightmares.
With you, that was. Spencer was a completely different story.
You still had to be careful because of your ribs and the doctor had told you to be careful with how you slept, so the moment you moved a little in your sleep and felt the pain shooting through you, you made a face and reached for Spencer’s side of the bed only to meet an empty spot. You opened your eyes, and carefully sat up in bed, trying to hear whether there was any noise to signal he was coming back to bed but there was none, so you slipped out of the bed and walked to the living room.
Of course he was there. Cradling a cup with steam coming out of it in his hands, staring into the darkness as if he was lost in his own mind.
“Spencer?” you said softly and he turned his head, snapping out of his thoughts.
“Hey,” he said, trying to smile, “Why are you up?”
“I could ask you the same question,” you tilted your head before you went to sit beside him and he ran a hand through his curls.
“It’s not important.”
“Nightmares?” you asked and he nodded silently.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“Maybe later,” he murmured, “How about you? Any pain? Do you need an ice bag?”
You shook your head, “Nah it’s fine,” you said, “It doesn’t hurt that terribly.”
“And your nightmares?”
You shrugged, “No nightmares. I mean—at least not like the earlier ones. Not where I’m turning into him.”
“Trauma works differently in everyone.”
“I don’t think it’s the trauma though,” you said, “I think it’s because…because I know now.”
He raised his brows, his whole attention on you, “What do you mean?”
“It’s not in me,” you said, “It’s just—it’s just not. I don’t think it ever was. My father killed people because it made him feel powerful. It wasn’t like that with me, back at the cabin. It was survival. For me and people I care about, that’s all. It doesn’t make me evil.”
That seemed to pull him out of his thoughts and he smiled.
“No it doesn’t,” he said, “You’ve never been evil. Even when he tried to turn you into that.”
Even your heart felt light, despite the pain in your ribs and your smile widened.
“I know he’s not dead but…”
“He’s locked away. Same difference from now on.”
You paused for a moment, “Speaking of,” you said, “I was thinking I could go and see him for the last time.”
He frowned, “Why?”
“I don’t know. I think it’ll help me put this whole thing behind me.”
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?”
“I want to see the look on his face when he realizes his small project failed,” you said, “Trust me. There’s no way he can get to me, not anymore.”
He rubbed his thumb over your hand and you leaned back to the back of the couch, still keeping your gaze on his handsome face.
“You don’t have to come with me,” you said, “If it’s too much.”
“It’s not that,” he rasped out, “Officially, I might not be allowed in.”
“Why not?”
“I’m leaving the BAU.”
You blinked a couple of times, gawking at him, then sat up straighter.
“What?”
“I can’t anymore,” he averted his glances from you to look into space, nibbling on his lip, “Y/N, I was out of the city when they called me to tell me you were missing, that you were most probably taken by the copycat. And for the whole time until I found you…” his voice cracked, “Lincoln’s profile, before we even knew that he was Lincoln, it all suggested that he…killed his victims without spending any time with them. I thought—“ he sniffled and cleared his throat, “I can’t do that anymore. Imagining you like all those victims…”
“Spencer, I’m fine.”
“But you weren’t,” he said, barely moving his lips, “Back there.”
Ah. The woods.
“That’s what your nightmare was about?” you asked and he heaved a shaky sigh.
“I couldn’t save you,” he said, “You died there, and I couldn’t do anything, I was too late—“
“Spencer,” you reached out to touch his cheek, “Hey, look at me.”
He turned his head so that his eyes would meet yours and you dragged your fingertips over the slight stubble on his cheek.
“You weren’t too late,” you told him, “And I didn’t die. Okay? I’m right here. Don’t leave the BAU because of me, do it only if you want to. I’ll be with you either way.”
He blinked back the tears and nodded. “I want to,” he whispered, “I can’t anymore, and I want- I want to be here. I’ll just…I’ll focus on teaching, and the team can consult me whenever they need to, but I need to be here.”
“And you’re sure about that? It’s not some…heat of the moment decision?”
“It’s not,” he said, “I’m positive.”
“Alright,” you smiled at him softly, “Okay then. I guess instead of talking about gruesome murders and copycats who were after me, we can be one of those boring, cliché couples who bicker about…I don’t know, dirty dishes in the sink, or how you forgot to put down the toilet seat or-“
“Your hair in the drain.”
“I’m going to pretend like you weren’t waiting for the opportunity to bring that up.”
He let out a teary laugh and wiped at his eyes before he pulled you closer and carefully wrapped his arms around you so as not to hurt your ribs, burying his face into the crook of your neck. You brushed your fingers through his curls, as if trying to prove to him that you were there, that you were alright.
“I love you so much,” the confession left his lips in a whisper and you could feel the burning behind your eyes as you raked your nails over the nape of his neck gently.
“I love you too,” you murmured, “God, you have no idea how much.”
                                                      ***
The BAU, upon your request, fixed a meeting with your father for the next week.
And throughout that week, everyone tried to convince you to change your mind. Your mother had made a whole scene during brunch, telling you that it was as if you liked torturing yourself, but you knew deep down that you had to talk to him for the last time.
Seeing your father after what felt like a life time, especially after everything that you had been through was strange at the very least. You didn’t have any goosebumps, you didn’t have that nervousness messing with your head, you didn’t feel like you were under the threat of being attacked any time, and most of all—
You didn’t feel like he was stronger than you. At all.
You lit a cigarette in the interrogation room, then flipped the cap of the lighter and turned your head when the door opened and your father walked in, chains dangling from his handcuffs wrapped around his ankles. He stared at you for a couple of seconds as if he didn’t expect to see you there and let out a breath.
“Petal…”
“You should sit down,” you said, exhaling the smoke and a guard helped him sit down across from you.
“We’re right outside, miss.”
“Thank you,” you said and watched as he straightened his back, his gaze focused on you.
“You look…” he trailed off and you raised your brows,
“Hm?”
“What did they do to you?”
“Ah I guess your outside source ending up dead gets you a bit behind on the news,” you said, “Erica is dead, Lincoln is never gonna see the sunlight again, and your whole project to turn me into your legacy with the help of them failed terribly.”
“I’d never allow them to harm you like this.”
You rolled your eyes, exhaling the smoke.
“But you fought your way out, didn’t you?” he asked you, “Looks like my training helped you after all. Even if you refuse to see that.”
“Did you seriously think I’d become like you?” you asked back, “Did you think Lincoln would manage to turn me into you?”
“Honey, Lincoln was going to be your companion at best, your first kill at worst.” he said and you clicked your tongue.
“Oh, that was your plan all along?”
“Some part of it, at least. I knew they wouldn’t be able to handle you, but I thought you could decide what to do with them. Could you kill Erica at least?”
“Didn’t get the chance.”
“You should have,” he said, “You would see, Petal.”
You twirled the cigarette between your fingers, staring at him for a couple of seconds.
“I keep thinking,” you mused, “You know what I said to Mina and Kenzie when they first told me they wanted to have a baby?”
He tilted his head, “Hm? What?”
“I asked them if they lost their minds.”
Your father pulled back slightly and you shrugged your shoulders.
“Because I mean… Kenzie’s parents are assholes, and there’s you,” you motioned at him, “Not that anyone else could take the cake on being a messed up parent when you’re in the picture.”
“I take offense to that.”
“I don’t care,” you said, “But then it hit me, back at the hospital. I was looking at this whole mess from the wrong perspective.”
“Which is?”
“They had a point,” you said, “Back then- before all this I mean, I thought when someone decided to have kids, their first priority was to be the perfect parent. That’s stupid, it’s impossible to be the perfect parent, our own parents mess us up in one way or another. But I get it now.”
“You get what?”
“The first step is being better than your own parents, not starting out perfect,” you said, “That’s why every generation is different, we’re all trying to be better than our parents, and some of us actually succeed.”
“And you think you’d be a better parent than me, is that it?”
“Shouldn’t take that much of an effort to be honest.”
“Are you…?” he motioned at you and you scoffed.
“No,” you said, “No, but what happened back there made me think. I’ve been living my whole life so convinced that you messed me up beyond my own control, beyond saving, but that’s not completely true, is it? I mean, just because you’re in my past, doesn’t mean I’ll have to include you in my present.”
“But I am in your present Petal.”
You pursed your lips together, then gestured around you. “Debatable. Nolan is buying this whole place, did you know that?” you asked, “All your guards are on our paychecks, so it should be harder to…use them to contact outside. We control everything that’s happening here, and there’s nothing you can do about that.”
He blinked a couple of times, trying to catch up with your train of thought.
“And you think that will be enough to put me behind you?”
You shook your head, “No, I don’t think it’s that easy,” you confessed, “But it’s a start.”
He moved his hands on the table, the chain rattling.
“I raised you.” he said, “I’m inside your head, whether you like it or not. You’re my legacy—“
“I’m my own legacy, you fucking idiot,” you said with a small chuckle, “That’s who I am. Just because your expectations of me will not leave me, doesn’t mean I’ll let them haunt me.”
“And you think that will be enough.”
“I will never see you again,” you tilted your head, “Should make things easier, to be honest.”
He smiled, “But you already hurt people,” he said “You know how it feels now, don’t you? That fire? Now you know what you’re capable of.”
You thought for a moment.
“Yeah,” you said, “Yeah I do. Now I know that if it ever comes to that point, I’m capable of protecting myself and my family. It doesn’t make me a monster, it makes me a survivor. Me and mom have that in common, after the shit you’ve pulled.”
He stared at you and you took a last drag of your cigarette, then checked your wristwatch.
“Well I should go. You may have all the time in the world, but I actually have a life, so…”
You stubbed your cigarette and walked to the door but as soon as you opened it, he said your name, making you stop.
“You can’t escape from this,” he said, “Even if you never see me again, you still won’t escape, you know that, right? Why do you think I chose you and not your sister? Even when you were a child, you had…something in you. Something dark, something dangerous.”
The idea was very familiar to you. You had been saying the same thing to yourself for many years and hearing it from him for what felt like a hundredth time was supposed to make you feel bad, you knew that. If it were any other time before your kidnapping, before saving yourself in that cabin, before surviving everything your father and his followers had put you through, it would probably have more effect on you.
The last time he had done that, you had ended up in the stairs, shaking until Spencer had found you.
But it wasn’t that time.
It was as if something had clicked inside your head after everything, and your father’s words held no strength in them.
“Come on honey,” he told you, “Some people are just born twisted.”
A small smile pulled at your lips and you raised your brows, looking at him for a couple of seconds, etching the sight of him in chains into your memory.
“Maybe,” you said and took a step towards him, opening your cigarette case to pull out the small jasmine flower out of it, then put it on the table, eyes locked to his before you leaned in slightly.
“But I wasn’t.”
With that, you turned around and walked out of the interrogation room for the last time, ignoring the way he was yelling your name. Your smile widened as you made your way out of the building, your heels echoing in the halls before you stepped out, the fresh air filling your lungs.
“Hey,” Spencer greeted you, leaning back to your car and reached out so that you could step into his embrace as he pushed your hair out of your face, “How did it go?”
“As expected,” you stood on your tiptoes to press a kiss on his lips and he heaved a sigh.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” you said “Yeah I feel like…he’s gone. He’s gone, I’m here and I’m free and I know myself now. I finally woke up from that nightmare, for good.”
He smiled and brushed his lips against yours, “That’s a good start,” he commented, “What do you want to do now?”
“I’m open to suggestions,” you said and he tilted his head before he held up your keys.
“What do you say we drive away and never return here?”
You let out a small giggle and wrapped your arms around his neck.
“I like that idea,” you said, “Let’s drive away and never return.”

Prison. Cat. Diana. All those things happened close to each other. Luckily a few months have passed since then and slowly everything settles down. Spencer is able to get his feelings sorted through, processing the events.
Ever since his imprisonment he follows a more or less strict routine, given the uncertainty coming with his job. Spencer still tries to keep it up. So is every Friday dedicated to buying the majority of groceries and needed non food articles.
Sometimes (Y/N) tags along, other days she already has plans with her friends. Her father doesn’t mind it much, he is happy to see her socializing with people her age. The two of them have one father-daughter-night in the week anyways.
“Sweetheart, I’m heading out! Did you put everything you need on the list?” He shouts into the apartment. A faint “Yes! Love you!” echoes back to him. A smile forms on the doctor’s face. Oh how he longed to hear those words from her every night while he laid in his bed, locked up for a crime he didn’t commit. “Alright, love you, too!”
Meanwhile her father has to deal with Karens being their ignorant selfs, (Y/N) is under the biggest stress she has ever been. The end of her sophomore year and suddenly every teacher thinks it’s alright to give the students a load of work in every single class.
It’s beginning to get to her head. Four essays, three projects and studying for two tests and everything is due next week. She can see herself sitting at that very desk for the whole weekend, trying to contain control of her current situation.
As (Y/N) begins to read the page in front of her again to pull any information from it, it feels like her brain shuts down. Only one thought possesses her. One thing that can assure her, make her happy again.
Her body moves automatically, into the kitchen to the fridge. Her hands grab what they can. Puddings, yogurts, bananas, apples, last night’s dinner, everything that she can carry. Then the teenager sits down at the floor and devours everything she just got out. (Y/N) doesn’t stop until she gets to this intense feeling of being full.
It seems like she snaps out of a trance. Upon seeing what she ate in the shortest time, the girl feels even worse. Quickly she tries to destroy any kind of evidence, getting the trash out, making the fridge appear more full than it is, anything.
In her panicked state she remembers the small container of pills in her room. Relief washes over (Y/N), thinking everything will be better. She takes two of them for good measurement.
With the relief also guilt takes over. What just happened wasn’t normal. But (Y/N) tells herself that she can stop any time she wants. It’s not like she is sick or something, everything is fine. It’s just her way to copy stress. A way she discovered while her father was in prison. The diet pills help her to undo her mistakes. Someone from her friend group, who is already 18, got her them from the doctor for a fair price.
Feeling calmer now, the teenager sits back at her desk. A new perception of control helps her to continue her school work. She has to get done as much as possible, because in not even half an hour (Y/N)’s best friend will be the toilet.
Spencer is completely obvious to it. Sure, he is a profiler and he noticed his daughter’s new view on eating healthy food and working out. He just assumes that (Y/N) and her friends are on a healthy trip and he doesn’t see a problem in this. On the contrary, he is happy that she wants to be good to herself and her body.
But as the weeks go on, a suspicious feeling captures him. “(Y/N)? Why is the fridge nearly empty? We got groceries last Friday and it’s only Tuesday. Did you have a party over here while I was away on the case?” Spencer enters his daughter’s room, trying to joke about it.
(Y/N) freezes. Of course she isn’t able to say that the food went bad and she threw them away, her father is meticulous regarding this subject, always checking the best before day date. “Uhm, please don’t be mad. But Alex, you know her, the short one with red hair, uhm her parents are on a business trip and she is not the best cook. So I brought her lunch and dinner over. I’m sorry for not telling you.” She looks down at the floor, not only to feign sadness but also to avoid his eyes.
The second the teenager talks Spencer knows there is something fishy. Her voice is higher and she fidget with her hands. But he writes it off as being nervous for not telling him. Ever since he is out of prison, it feels like his daughter is withholding something.
“It’s fine, Sweetheart. Just give me a heads-up beforehand, so I know to buy more groceries. What do you think about ordering something tonight? I heard from Luke that a small Chinese restaurant opened a few streets down. We can celebrate the end of the stressful phase in Sophomore year.”
It seems like (Y/N) is calculating something in her head. Spencer knows exactly what she thinks about. “You can forget about your calorie intake for one night. I see how much time you invest in living healthy, but we can let loose for a night together. Just some noodles with chicken or spring rolls and us trying to use chopsticks and giving up after two minutes and resorting to forks. How does that sound?”
The teenager would love to sigh, but it would only alarm her father further. “Yeah, you are right. Let us let loose. But only if I can choose the movie we watch after dinner!” (Y/N) feels bad for eating unhealthy food again. Her last binge was only yesterday and usually she tries to consume lighter things. But she has to bite into the sour apple, else her father will be more suspicious. After all, she can just stop. (Y/N) promises herself to not think about her weight, her shape or the calories she will eat.
Well yeah, no. Just after the first noodle hits her tongue, intrusive thoughts take a seat in her mind, getting settled.
‘You already look like a potato.’
‘Are you sure this is the right thing to eat?’
‘Can you really stop?’
‘Dad is going to hate you when he finds out.’
All of them and more enter her head. (Y/N) is unable to shake them off. She is fine. She doesn’t have a problem. She just doesn’t feel like eating now, that’s fine, right?
“Uhm Dad. I’m full and really tired from the day. Is it ok if I go to bed? Maybe we can rain check on that movie?” The girl asks, feeling even worse for ditching her father. Usually it’s the other way around.
“Are you feeling ok? You look a little pale. Are you sick?” Spencer fires his question canone being the borderline helicopter father he always is. “Yes, just really exhausted from all the assignment and school work. A good night's rest and I will be good as new.” (Y/N) attempts a small smile, but fails miserably at it.
“Ok, sleep tight baby. I’ll put the leftovers in the fridge for you tomorrow.” Quickly she goes into her room. The thoughts in her head scream louder and louder with each step she takes. Can she really stop? Maybe she should come clean to her father.
‘And risking him hating you? Look at you, thinking you are sane is the only thing keeping him from abandoning you. How would you explain him keeping you otherwise? It’s definitely not for your looks.’
Later that night, (Y/N) hasn’t gotten a wink of sleep because of the voices, she makes her way back to the kitchen. In an attempt to distract herself, the teenager scrolled through her social media sites. There she was met by pictures of perfect people.
Perfect bodies. Perfect lives. Perfect smiles. Perfect family. Perfect friends. Everything about them is perfect.
And then there is her. Her body is unperfect. Her life is a mess. Her smile is not that of a model. Her family is just her, her father and the people he works with. Her friends aren’t always the best associates.
The stress of not feeling enough is getting to (Y/N)’s head. Like several times before that her body goes into auto. She doesn’t control her movements, though she tells herself all of this is willently.
Like so many times before the girl goes through the fridge and eats everything up she can get her fingers on. But this time one thing is different. Her father is at home. And he isn’t a heavy sleeper.
The movement in the kitchen wakes him up. Immediately his brain jumps to a burglar or even worse, an UnSub they once arrested coming after him. Quickly he gets his revolver and sneaks through the hallway to the source of the noises. As Spencer only sees his daughter sitting there, he instantly relaxes.
“Hey Sweetheart, what are you doing up? It’s a school night”, he softly asks in order to not scare her. Still, (Y/N) gets startled at the sudden voice.
“Uhm, nothing much. Just hungry. Probably because I didn’t eat dinner”, she explains, looking at her father like he caught her with her hand stuck in the cookie jar. Spencer watches her closely. “This is it? Because from what it looks like you not only ate your dinner but also tomorrow’s breakfast and right now lunch.”
(Y/N) swallows her bite, feeling that sinking reality in her stomach. The pills. She needs the pills fast before her body begins to digest the food. “Uhm, yeah. I probably should go to bed. I need my sleep. Just let me tidy up. Good night, Dad.” But he is quick to stop her.
“(Y/N), I want you to sit down. There is something we have to talk about.” Hesitantly (Y/N) takes a seat. “What is it Dad? Are you reprimanding me for eating? I thought you wanted me to let loose for a night.”
Spencer sits, leaning against the kitchen counter. “Baby, I want you to be alright. But I think you are not.” His eyes get a sad look. “I’m alright. I am fine, Dad. What do you think is wrong with me?”
“Look, (Y/N), I don’t need to be a profiler to see that you are struggling with something. Do you want to tell me about it?” Her answer is a tight lipped smile and a “I’m fine. There is nothing to talk about.”
The father sighs. She is not leaving him much of a choice. “And what about them?” Spencer asks after getting something from the highest shelf in the kitchen, the one (Y/N) barely reaches by stepping on a stool. He sets a little container down on the table.
“Dad I-” “No (Y/N). You don’t need to explain anything. It’s my turn to talk. I found those in your room yesterday while I was looking for a book. At first I thought nothing of it, I mean you are trying to live healthy, so I thought this is part of the process. But then I saw that they have to be prescribed and I know that these aren’t yours.
“I wanted to talk about it with you anyway. But now I know that I caught you binge eating and I see all the signs. I see them and I’m sorry for not acting sooner. (Y/N), you need help and I’m here for you. I know the last few months were especially hard on you. I can’t change what was and what happened, but I will be here for you now." Tears stream down on boths their faces.
(Y/N) is stammering for words. “I-I am fine. I can stop anytime I want. Th-this was a conscious d-decision.” Her father envelops her in a hug, cradling her head to his chest. She begins to sob.
“I know, Sweetheart. It’s hard and it won’t get easier from here on, but I’m here. You know you can’t stop, it’s only an illusion your eating disorder wants you to believe. But we get through it together. You, I and the team if you want to. We take it at your pace.” By now the two are crying loudly.
“I want it to stop, Dad. Please make the voice go away.”
He can’t make it go away. No one can. But Spencer helps to quiet it. Together they tackle the disorder, through the good and the bad times. He takes off from work for a time and (Y/N) out of school for a few weeks to be able to work on it together, to make the voice quieter and her life better.
