It's really funny to me that there are soooo many ships involving Hiccup, but when it comes to Astrid, I can think of maybe 3 😂

more eretlout headcanons - argument edition

- in the beginning of their relationship, they were casual - not because its what either of them wanted, but because snotlout was still coming to terms with his feelings for eret and was scared to comit (and to be judged by his father). Eret (not knowing about Snotlout's fears) was alright to go along with it and continued seeing othet people, which made Snotlout extremely jealous. This finally resulted in a fight in which Snotlout revealed that he wanted to be exclusive but hadn't made that clear because he didn't think Eret would give up seeing others to be with him -- and he also worries that his fear of disappointing Spitelout would ruin their relationship. After they made up, Eret made it clear that he only had romantic feelings for Snotlout and said he was okay waiting for Snotlout to be ready to come out in his own time (he actually hated pretending to be just friends in public but put up with it for snotlout's sake). They kept things quiet for a while until Snotlout felt ready to come out to his family.

- As their relationship became more serious and Eret started saying 'I love you' and being more sweet, rather than just flirtatious, it made Snotlout uncomfortable. He didnt feel like he deserved so much kindness and it freaked him out. He worried that he'd somehow tricked Eret into loving him. But instead of communicating that, he would start picking meaningless fights with Eret, subconsciously trying to end the relationship on his own terms rather than waiting for Eret to leave on his own. Finally after all of this is worked out, Snotlout promised to be more open about his feelings -- and Eret assured him that he did in fact deserve love.

- After the initial hurdles of their relationship, Snotlout got very clingy and had a hard time seeing Eret be friends with others, always suspecting that he'd leave him for someone else. Meanwhile, Eret hates feeling like he's being watched or controlled (maybe in part because of his experiences with Drago) and tends to shut down emotionally when he feels like someone is being too controlling -- he doesn't want to argue or walk away so he just stops talking or gives one word answers, which to him is the safest option. This in turn makes Snotlout feel abandoned and he gets more upset. It takes quite a few arguments and make up conversations for them to start working through this.

Haven't posted in a while! So here's some Snotlout fanart I've made over the past year :3

Ive just been tired and trying to figure out my job cause I'm trying to get another one instead so oopsies. Im also just working on my honors art portfolio too, so I'll post those drawings and all sometime when I feel like it LMAO

in dawn of destruction i just love that little moment of pause snotlout had when hiccup came back from his small trip with astrid to find the edge being attacked. hiccup gives out orders, snotlout just stares at him and hiccup stammers to asks him ‘what is it, snotlout?’ to which snotlout replies, ‘nothing. it’s just well, it’s nice to have you back.’ and it’s with so much sincerity and even a hint of relief and it’s just so !!! snotlout looks up so much to hiccup and it grounds him (and the rest of the gang) for hiccup to BE there and to be the leader their team needs and has. it just shows how much faith and trust they have in each other and no matter how much he complains all the time, snotlout will always and undoubtedly have hiccup’s back and vice versa.

I love the concept of the dragons and riders being soulmates. They’re best friends, and they have found one another at last. It’s why I love how Hiccup assigned each of his friends a dragon based on a specific aesthetic. And I think I love the design choices for the second film, too. Main example is actually Hookfang & Snotlout and Hiccup & Toothless. The dragons each have additional bits of facial appendage (Hookfang on his chin and Toothless along his jaw “to show his age”) to mirror their riders’ own facial hair. So fucking neato.

rewatching rtte and i think darkest night is a really good episode EXCEPT for astrid's "what if" scenario at the end because it is wildly out of character and unbelievable
