on the topic of the touchscreens-for-heavy-machinery trend: i have one of those touch controlled stovetops. not technically a touchscreen, i know, but it is completely buttonless. and it's the dumbest thing ever. it's easy to clean and that's literally the only advantage.

first of all, the "buttons" are way too close to the part that gets hot, and since its all one single slab of glass you regularly have to touch hot buttons if you want to turn down the heat 😐

second of all, it is completely unintuitive. turning the heat up or down quickly is literally impossible. instead of just turning a knob you have to *beep* unlock the controls, then *beep* select the right ✨cooking zone✨, then *beep beep beep* tap the plus or minus and *beep* lock it again so it doesn't do anything you don't want it to do.

which brings me to my third and most important point 🤓 THE TOUCH CONTROLS CAN BE ACTIVATED BY LITERALLY ANYTHING. i cant even tell you how many times ive turned the stove off WHILE COOKING because a drop of water touched the power button. for some reason the lock button only locks the plus/minus buttons, not the power button. and yes, anything you put on the stove when it's off can potentially TURN IT ON. the other day i dropped a bag of sliced bread on there and it registered as a long press, unlocked the controls, and the thing turned on 🌝 thankfully i heard the beep but if i hadn't, it could've started a fire. just this morning the same thing happened with a fucking carrot 🥕

#&#also those black glass stovetops only look good for a few months #but if you use them regularly they WILL get scuffed and scratched #there are cleaning products that can can make them look a little better #but at the end of the day it is glass #anyway. why am i talking about my appliances again?#oh right. death by fire #well im moving out next month #but as a psa i guess: dont get a buttonless stove

Being a batfam fan is funny because people will make a post like “here’s my headcanon-“ and it’s just something that’s directly canon to the story then post about major canon events and get everything wrong.

#this post was inspired by me remembering the experience of reading death in the family #after only knowing the fanbase version and realizing oh none of that shit happened okay #like girl you don’t understand it’s so bad #Jason wasn’t even fired as Robin #He’s not accused of murdering anyone by Bruce #He’s not trying to prove himself at all he’s just looking for his mom #The reason Bruce didn’t go after him right away is because he was tracking down a goddamn nuke the Joker stole #Then after he finds it and handles the problem he helps Jason track down moms 2 and 3 #Also Jason died in like 20 minutes?? even less??#He died in less time than it took his mother to smoke a cigarette #Bruce literally went ‘wait here I’ll be right back’ and was gone for less time than a trip to the grocery store #and then you go into the Jason Todd tag and they act like Bruce pulled the damn trigger on him #Like besties I don’t know how to tell you this he basically did everything right he possibly could have #Even him benching Jason from Robin temporarily happens so that he can get Jason into therapy about his trauma #Like the whole point is that neither of them did anything wrong bad shit just sometimes happens #That’s the tragedy. He's-a Gone

Luigi time! To suffer, that is.

(CW: character death)

This is obviously a sort of comlementary piece to I Was-a Too Late. But it's more than just that as it also illustrates a certain fun, dark what-if idea I had. Please keep reading if you're intrigued!

Lore:

Luigi's Mansion, the first game. Everything goes the same as in canon until the final boss fight, when Luigi defeats King Boo in his Bowser costume. After King Boo comes out and Luigi intends to suck him in, the villain laughs and reveals the truth: Mario's painting was an illusion, so was everything Madame Clairvoya saw. All just to mess with Luigi. Meanwhile the real Mario wasn't just captured by the Boos, he was immediately killed by them on their King's orders. The only physical thing that's left of him in this realm is the five items Luigi found - hidden by the Boos for Luigi to find, another part of King Boo's sick game.

Luigi is able to finish the fight despite his shock and grief, fueled by the anger King Boo never expected from him. After getting out of the painting the plumber discovers that it is indeed empty, no Mario or anyone else in the portrait.

Heartbroken and guit-ridden, Luigi goes back to Professor E. Gadd's lab and gives him back the Poltergust 3000. He doesn't even want to stay long enough to see what is going to happen to the ghosts. Of course the Professor tries to offer some semblance of comfort, but we all know it's not his forte.

So Luigi leaves, only taking Mario's five items with him. He notices that the mansion has disapeared without a trace. The reality of it all finally hits him, and he practically collapses onto a nearby tree's large root protruding from the ground, putting down the precious items around himself, only leaving the matching red hat and the letter in his hands. He should have known something was off. After all, the Mario he saw in the painting was wearing his hat and both gloves.

Looking at all these items, to his growing horror he can't help but imagine what exactly might have happened to his brother and what his last moments might have been like. He hugs the hat to his chest and rereads Mario's note several times, knowing that the brief warning was his brother's last words to him.

Luigi can do nothing but cry for the beloved brother he couldn't save, desperately wishing it was his warm, living and breathing body pressed to his chest rather than just a couple of his belongings.

But Mario is truly gone, apparently having met such a horrific fate that not even a single part of his body is left in the physical world.

…I'll leave the rest up to your imagination ;) Sorry if I got carried away with my description. Occasionally even I enjoy being a little dramatic, though I'm no writer whatsoever.

Yeah, I'm not apologizing for making this one - I was nicer to Luigi than to his bro, at least here the Mushroom Kingdom and everyone in it (except for Mario lol) is still okay!

What I love about Hellboy and Abe Sapien's dynamic in the comics is that, if you came into this blind, you'd expect Abe to be the voice of reason or the straight man to Hellboy's impulsive and hotheaded personality. But no, Abe is more often than not the crazy one. Hellboy would deal with fighting evil monsters and bad guys by just sighing and getting it over with, while Abe is going rabid over tearing the creature apart when he does get into a fight. Hellboy acts like it's a 9-to-5 job and will reasonably talk things out with a guy that had nearly killed him before, Abe acts like a madman in a slaughter house and his first instinct is to shoot first kill second and ask third. They're both insane, but on completely different levels.

#wheres that one comic where abe gets into a mission and has to tear down a monster with an axe #then at the end when hellboy appears and sees abe going ham while covered in blood. he's like ''oh hey abe. good job you're doing there''#hellboy was not even worried for a second. he trusts abe to handle things on his own #they both trust each other to do their job but they also know when they can handle a fight on their own and will help if needed.#their trust and bond with each other is so implicit but speaks volumes. they dont need to say anything. they just know #we talk so much about hellboy being like. an alright guy and a whole lot kinder than the world treats him. and that's right #but it really does make Abe look fucking batshit wild in comparison because of it #the entirety of the abe sapien comics is that the guy is on his hinges and the only thing keeping him sane before was his job (which is #debatable.) and the bprd. mostly hellboy and liz and kate and roger. johan and ben are a weird case but he does kinda care about them #i love abe btw. he's such an interesting critter. absolutely crazy maniac of a guy.#tbf i dont blame him considering his backstory. if i went through some of the shit he did; i would not be sane either #also. the moments post hellboy's death in the comics where abe is trying to deal with his passing but never directly says anything about it #until he was confronted by hellboy in his dream. thats the cool bit yknow. we dont need to be told Abe was grieving about hellboy #we just knew he wasn't handling it well. using present tense when talking about hellboy to other people. avoiding saying his name.#its great stuff #the fire burns #hellboy #hellboy comics #abe sapien

This would definitely... Bloat some things, but I still want to do it cause then it involves all four clans like it Should, but man I love the idea of each clan having their own "Power of Three" trio. Like a lot. Originally I was going to make them all descendants of the current leaders and spread the litters throughout TNP, Po3, and OotS, but that didn't quite seem right to me. There aren't a ton of descendants for me to work with to this end (especially for Blackstar, who I've decided is Darktail's dad who never has another litter in the clans). Soooo instead, I want all of them to be forbidden kits. Half clan and medic children, baby. So obviously this includes the ThunderClan three, and the other litters I'm considering are Tawnypelt's kittens (moved to be born late in Po3) who would technically be ThunderShadow kits... that or I'm changing who the other parent is. (Here comes TawnyFeather with the steel chair...? They could meet again in Outcast... owo?) and Sedgewhisker and her sisters who are apparently WindRiver kits?? Which I didn't know was a thing til now.

That just leaves the RiverClan three who I'm not totally sure on. My friend Vio suggested Icewing's first litter, which I kinda like cause that includes Beetlewhisker. Makes his fate in the Dark Forest all the more terrifying. But I'm also considering Minnowtail and her siblings (reviving her brother Tumblekit). I do not remember if those guys have confirmed dads but if they do, uhhhhhhhh. Well they aren't their dads anymore. Officially halfclan now.

#to this end i may take a page from bonefalls book and make dove/ivy jayfeathers children instead of whiteash kids #cause like. i LIKE the drama of dove being ash's kid but i also think its interesting to go at the angle of her being jay's kit #for reference: jayfeather is forced to become a medic when leafpool gets demoted. this is VERY controversial in thunderclan #cause even tho jayfeather has a good amount of knowledge (he spent a lot of time in the healers den) he had very rushed training #cause the other leaders rallied and rallied for leafpool to get demoted and threatened attack if she wasn't #(I miiight make it so that bramblestar is leader at this point? so it makes more sense? cause he haaates leafpool. but also i want fire ali #alive so he can be spark and dandelion's dad right before he dies)#but some of the cats are arguing that it's very contrived and that now that holly is gone- they need leafpool more than ever #and dove and ivy are conceived around this time because jayfeather confides in poppyfrost for comfort #and ooooooooo guess who's just like his mama!! this would be the moment where like... ''oh fuck. i get it now.''#so its super early in his career and the timing is VERY awkward so they gotta make poppyfrost lie about who the dad is #so no ones really aware that theyre jay's kits at first. tho there are rumors. anyways long winded way of saying dovewing is a forbidden ba #so she counts in this!!! yayyyyy #razorverse #also some canon deaths will still occur in oots most likely. their powers may just get shifted to other cats in their clan #usually kits who were born recently. so when flametail dies his power gets transferred to a newborn shadowclan kit #idk tho. not set in stone
