i’ve talked with @andvys about this exact idea!! i have a few scenarios that i keep flip flopping between. (also, i love that you’re wanting his lore! he’s got lots of it lmao)

first scenario is eddie not giving a shit about it. he treats you bringing up wanting to date like it isn’t a big deal. he’s in denial about his feelings, so while he is disappointed, he just sees it as good pussy he can’t fuck anymore. brutal, i know, but he is a fuckboy after all. 🤷🏻‍♀️ during the time away from eddie, you end up dating this really nice guy but you find yourself not being as into him as you thought you’d be. he doesn’t kiss you, fuck you, treat you, or understand you the way eddie does. you’re constantly comparing the two. because you are also in denial about your feelings for him.

second scenario is him questioning why you want to start dating. from the very beginning, you have told eddie dating isn’t your thing, it isn’t something you want right now, you just want to fuck without strings attached. he does this in a teasing way, because you don’t talk to him about anything. you keep most things to yourself so he begins to wonder if you met someone that may have changed your mind. when you tell him that yeah, you did, and he’s really sweet and different from the others, his jealousy shows.

i see fboy eddie being so damn stubborn that he wouldn’t ask you right away to be official. he is struggling with his own beliefs and attitude towards being in a relationship that it keeps him from all of that. he doesn’t feel like he’d be a good enough boyfriend, he has been hurt one too many times in his past to believe that a relationship with not just you, but anyone, would be long lasting and not end in fucking disaster.

so a definite break from him does happen in his lore, and during that time he buries his feelings in pussy. you don’t talk to him the way you used to and only see him at parties or bars that the both of you happen to be at. you see him with different girls each time and hear about them from your friends who run in the same social circle as him.

there’s so much more i could go on and on about, but i haven’t fully finished deciding on what to keep and change and add.

anyway!! so yeah, the direction for the last chapter really put emphasis on the player's growth, having her figure how to deal with her past and present hang-ups, as well as coming to terms with them. i rly wanted to start the chapter on a more hopeful note, past the months of depression she'd gone through from sylus’ absence. the gradual progression, even the slight misstep (the ~ghost of her past~ showing up when she least expected it). i also wanted to convey how “present” sylus was in her life, still—through her choices/actions, and from the little things that reminded her of him.

and turning sylus mortal has always been the endgame, even when the story was still in its ✨outline✨ phase. @grabby-smitten actually put it quite aptly—the idea that this almost god-like, virtually indestructible being is willing to turn “human” for you, and that it’s less of a sacrifice/demotion in his eyes, but more about being “equal” to you. because to be human is to be with the person he loves—nothing more, nothing less ❤️

and lmao, i like to think sylus gets a kick out of people staring at him a little too long, trying to place where they've seen him from 😂 he'd definitely fuck with conspirating distant cousins thrice removed by dropping not-so-subtle hints here and there.

also yes ok just to give u something to look forward to (breadcrumbing u guys so hard rn), byron will inevitably meet the “boyfriend” at some point (in the spin-off), and they may or may not hash it out through some….. light-hearted….. sparring 🙂‍↕️

Minor complaint: once again, p:eg falls into the canon dr's trap of making its truth bullets too vague. jett's statement about wolfgang being stabbed to death shouldn't be countered by the tozu tablet, which doesn't mention his cause of death at all, nor any injuries he sustained. we investigated wolfgang's body ourselves, why shouldn't there be a "wolfgang's body" truth bullet? again, this problem is present in canon dr so I don't blame the devs for this.

oh man. eva is such a tragic character.... she could have changed, she was in a new environment where she could have had people who supported her, but she still refused to believe in her classmates. and diana only wanted to help her, but she was the one (other than wolfgang) who got hurt the most by eva's actions...

(um. I was going to write out my thoughts about the execution but I can't seem to find the words for it right now. Imagine a really expertly written analysis here or whatever.)

The execution also has a really... "fanganronpa" look to it. Not that that's a bad thing though, I don't think any fangans have managed to capture the og dr execution style (except maybe sdra2)

aw man damon is crying after the execution :( except after the cg, he doesn't seem to acknowledge that...? even though 2 other characters get new crying sprites, he doesn't get anything, not even the dialogue mentions it. unless I blacked out at that part and missed it? but I'm glad that he cried, actually, because despite him trying to stay distant from the rest of the class, despite him trying to keep a calm face, he ended up caring for eva and crying over her death.

and another note about damon, his doubts about himself seem to have started in this chapter: he expresses doubt about not revealing wolfgang's motive, and about not speaking up about the dangers of the pharmacy. this is kinda interesting, he seems to be starting his character development early. interested to see where he goes!

also, 2 new crying sprites for mark and desmond! that's really cool actually, normally calm characters showing strong emotions is always so awesome to see, especially in fangans, where characters might react really passively to their classmates' deaths.

oh... diana no... she says stuff about continuing wolfgang's legacy when she herself is clearly not okay. she always cares about others' feelings without acknowledging her own. I know this scene is supposed to be motivational, but it genuinely seemed concerning to me. like girllll you're gonna end up dying in chapter 5 after an inevitable breakdown I know it!!! ...actually, I can see an arc like this, where diana slowly descends into distrust and despair while damon slowly learns to work with others and pursue the truth. welp, I'll see if this prediction comes true after like, 6 years, lol.

also, a really really minor thing about the ending: I found it kinda weird that diana striaght up mentions her animal being a chameleon. i feel like thats kind of..... idk, meta? I didn't know the characters were supposed to be aware of their own animal motifs, it feels kinda weird that she mentioned that. just a minor thing :')

but all that aside, we're finally done! this was genuinely such a great game, the eden's garden team put so much effort into this project, and it was so fun to play through (especially without being spoilered beforehand!!) genuinely so awesome, I look forward to more, whenever that may be.

also, two of my favorites are dead. ulysses better not be next.... (it's inevitable his note-taking gimmick is too much to pass up on)

the rift emits a faint Ambience when the camera zooms in on it after you first arrive in the grove. best way i can describe it is like... brown noise. a bassline. something Deep but subtle.

you Can knock down the inspekta cutout on the first island by hitting it with an anchor/ball/etc. there's still no interaction prompt like there is with the mitternacht cutout though, i.e. you cannot knock it down with your bare hands. would not be surprised if this was supposed to be foreshadowing.

bizzy boys in general don’t seem to be very popular lol. they have a reputation for being loud, dumb, mischievous, and starved for praise. can’t say it’s inaccurate! mitternacht even starts crying harder after you tell her inspekta's going to save the day. oddly, razzma doesn't seem to hold their rowdiness against inspekta (although something tells me he really should.)

razzma wrote the big book of king quotes, under the name razzma v. tazz.

in addition to capochin-second-in-command-best-of-da-bunch-dont-forget-it, capochin also claims he is capochin-prettiest-handsomest-bizzyboy-extraordinaire.

As of riize, i heard about get a guitar but never paid attention to it bc wth am going to do with a guitar?? this verse radiates energy from the realization he has of his history with the federation combined with them realizing that he's figured them out and need to make quick work of him in order to keep him in line. not only messing with him physically in experiments but also mentally in making sure to break him down and making him look crazy in order to decrease his threat levels towards any future acts they may commit against the people of the island. also the 'deemed and delivered a crime' can also associate with the brief period of certain members of the island learning about phils federation lineage and creating contingency plans behind his back in case he goes rogue to attack them. (of course he does but not willingly ;-;)

oh this part verrrrry specifically is what made everything click right in my mind for this au- especially when thinking about his friendship with etoiles. when I hear this section, I got reminded of the 'repairs' the federation forces onto phil with every trip, how everytime they continue and continue to crack him more and more and shatter him into pieces but he keeps getting. back. up. no matter what they do to him, at the end it's etoiles who's there to keep reminding him that he is still his own person, at his core he is whole and the federation can't take away who he is for long. everytime the federation fucks him up and tries to make it seem as if nothing had happened with the memory wipes of said experiments, this time,, phil has people alongside him to help him remember who he is. the repetition of 'and it's my whole heart' is so codebreakers in this au with it being phil repeating the mantras etoiles has instilled in his mind that he's still his own person and he is still good despite all the damage the federation not only inflicts on him but attends to inflict onto others. it's very good that many of the island members he surrounds himself with are powerful enough to make sure he isn't hurting others physically. mentally though, seeing a good friend lose himself and have to constantly remind himself of who he is can be taxing on the mind.

turns out it came back AGAIN and it is STILL UP if you want to read through your old links!!!!!!!!!! And there are easy links to export them all!!!!!!!!

This is still mostly from AFTER my Yuki/Kakeru etc. etc. period, but it's definitionally from before-ish AO3 back when fandom was a lot more decentralised and ohhhhhhh the nostalgia is strong :')

Still regretting the years and years (ten?? more????) back when I decided NOT to transfer over all the dozens upon dozens of fanfics I'd saved to my computer (read: painstakingly copied over into word documents and saved) because 'I have all the links there, I could always save them again some time.'
