They Grow Up So Fast
❧ Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Female Reader ❧ Era: non-apocalypse AU ❧ Pronouns: she/her ❧ Warnings: mild swearing ❧ Word Count: 2.1k
❧ Requested by @gabymiller (this request)
❧ Summary: It's your daughter's first day of kindergarten, and the only person slightly more nervous is your husband, Daryl.
❧ A/N: I imagine Daryl would be very emotional about taking his kid to kindergarten for the first time, since he's so protective and just wants to keep his family safe. Even in a world where the apocalypse doesn't exist, he'd still be super clingy, which is so cute to me. Also love how he wants to make sure Reader is okay while he's literally just bawling. So sweet. Btw, you can imagine any era of daryl, I just thought this gif of him in season 7 looking all sad and worried was really cute.
Tumblr media
He knew this day would come.
The day he’d have to let his daughter, his precious offspring, the one and only heir to the Dixon name, go off on her own.
Well, go off on her own to kindergarten, that is.
The five-year-old Holly Anne Dixon was just as nervous, terrified of being without her parents and surrounded by children she didn’t know.
She did well in preschool, but that was different, and this was new.
It only made Daryl’s anxiety worse, knowing how scared she was.
That morning, he ran around in circles in your modest townhome, making Holly’s peanut butter and jelly sandwich while simultaneously making sure she was getting ready.
You tried to help him, following him around like a lost puppy, but he moved so frantically and with such a quickness that you could hardly catch up to him.
“Calm down, Daryl,” you finally said, clutching to his shoulders from behind and pulling him against your chest. You pressed a kiss to his neck and nuzzled your head there for a while as he huffed and breathed heavily.
“Gotta get ‘er to school on time,” he said, looking down at his feet in slight panic.
“She’s going to get there on time,” you said, and lowered your hands to rub up and down his sides. “Stop freaking out. You’re going to freak her out.”
“Mommy!” the little girl’s voice called out from her room upstairs. “I need help with my dress!”
You laughed and circled around Daryl to kiss his nose before climbing up to her room. “Coming!”
The three-foot-five girl was standing on her tippy toes in her room, trying desperately to look at herself in the mirror that was just a little too high on the wall for her as she tried to reach behind her back to zip up her sundress of pale blue.
“I can’t get it,” she huffed in slight frustration. “Mommy.”
You smiled at the irritated little girl and knelt down to zip up the smocked bodice with ruffle detailing.
“There you go, missy,” you turned her around to look at her sour face, her naturally pink lips protruding in a pout and her eyes blinking rapidly to hold back the tears.
“I’m scared,” she said, raising her balled fists to rub her closed eyes. “What if the other kids are mean?”
You brushed her hair back, and Daryl watched through the door frame, pouting himself at the sad child.
“Hey,” you said quietly. “That’s not going to happen. I’ll bet you’ll make friends right away, and even if you don’t, you’ll have plenty of time to make friends eventually.”
She sniffled and wiped back a few small tears from her cheek. “Can you and Daddy go with me?”
You tilted your head in confusion as you rubbed her arms up and down. “Of course we’ll go with you. We’re going to drop you off, sweetie.”
“But can you stay?”
“Oh, Holly,” you sighed. “Kindergarten is for children. We’re far too old!” You poked her belly and elicited a small giggle through her shaky voice. “Besides, Mrs. Montgomery is a great teacher. She’s going to take good care of you, okay?”
She nodded slowly. “Okay.”
Daryl shook his head as he turned away from the scene, trying to hold back his tears as much as he could.
He felt horrible, ashamed at his own sadness. He was supposed to be a man, to keep you and Holly safe, and to be strong and steadfast for both of you, at least, that was what he and all men had been ingrained to believe.
Still, seeing her little face clouded with such worry and fear of being ostracized was much too familiar, and a feeling he’d always tried to keep her from having.
You had tried to convince him that it was normal for children to be scared of changes, and that the more she grew, the more she’d get used to it, but if he had the choice, he’d never let anything make her cry like that, and he’d never, ever let her grow up.
“Daddy,” she said, now standing beside him in the hallway. “Can we have pancakes for breakfast?”
You followed her into the hallway with her white tights in hand, and leaned down to lift her legs one by one and tug them onto her. She always hated wearing tights, but you were wary of her legs getting too cold in the early autumn morning.
“I don’t think we’ll have time for pancakes, baby,” you said to her.
Daryl shook his head, both in response to your words and in an attempt to rouse himself from his thoughts.
“Nah, we got time,” he said.
Damn that man, he was always going to be Holly’s favorite as long as he gave into her as much as he did, but really you loved how much he would do for her.
You rolled your eyes up at him with a smirk. “Thanks, honey.”
He made those pancakes in record time, and even made a smiley face with dollops of whipped cream on Holly’s.
At 8:30, it was time to head out, and you forcibly snuggled Holly into her white knitted cardigan, with pink flowers woven throughout, handmade by her grandmother, then made the finishing touches to her French braids.
“I’m not going,” she said with another pout.
You looked up at Daryl, tired of telling her yourself that she had to go, and silently asking him for his help. Daryl might’ve been the pushover, but he was also capable of being much more stern. He would use his “dad voice,” as you called it, to get her to listen.
“Yes, you are,” he said flatly, to which the little girl flashed a death glare at her father. “Holly Anne, don’t you look at me like that,” he said with a pointed finger. “You ain’t missin’ your first day of school, you hear me?”
You huffed at the tension between Daryl and Holly, and as the child’s lip began to quiver at her father’s scolding, as she hated when he spoke in that tone, you stood up to grab your camera on the kitchen counter.
“Let’s take a picture on the porch,” you said, recalling your own parents’ tradition of taking a photo of you in front of the house on each and every first day of school.
Daryl grabbed Holly’s hand and took her out the door, her baby pink backpack bouncing with each of her reluctant movements.
It took her a while to muster a smile, but with some coaxing from you, and several funny faces from Daryl, she did.
You looked eagerly through the photos on the digital camera, admiring how well you dressed her, in her little blue dress and her black Mary Janes, not to mention the immaculate braiding on either side of her head.
“Adorable!” you exclaimed, then ran into the house to quickly set down the camera before hopping into the old jalopy Daryl refused to get rid of, insisting he could fix it up.
“Every damn kid in town goin’ to this school?” he asked, narrowing his eyes at the parking lot, swarmed with parents dragging their children to whatever designated grade they were starting that day. “How the hell am I gonna find a parking spot?”
“Language,” you warned him, glaring him down half-heartedly from the passenger seat. “There!” You leaned forward and pointed emphatically at the car just ahead, pulling out with the agonizing slowness of molasses.
“Oh, come on!” He honked his horn a few times, startling Holly and causing you to yell at him. “Move your ass!”
“Stop it!” you said. “They’re moving!”
“We’re gonna be late!” replied Daryl, and soon Holly had burst into tears, sobbing in the backseat and sending a fresh wave of panic through the both of you.
“Oh, no, it’s okay, baby,” you said, reaching back to rub her knee in an attempt to soothe her. “Everything’s gonna be fine.”
“Yeah, soon as this asshole gets outta our parking spot,” Daryl replied. “Dumb bastard.”
“Daryl!”
Finally, the space was clear, and Daryl launched himself out of the car, looking down at his watch to see you all had just three minutes to get to class.
“Come on,” he said, opening the door for Holly and reaching in to release her from her car seat. “Don’t wanna be late.”
She huffed, folding her arms and pouting at her father, but relented as soon as he gave her that look. The look a father gives his child when he has had just about enough of their fussing, which on Daryl was very intimidating.
Holly had never been spanked in her life, and probably never would be, considering yours and Daryl’s stance on the subject, but Daryl’s stern glares were much more effective, anyway.
She held both of your hands, stepping up the curb between her parents as you all approached the kindergarten classroom, the walls of which were decorated with little handprints of all different colors, and named underneath each of them.
The door to the classroom was wide open, and the closer you got, the more you could see the children playing with various toys and games.
“Look, hon,” you said. “They have a kitchen set just like yours.”
She rocked nervously between you, and grasped more firmly at yours and Daryl’s hands.
“Do you really have to leave?” she asked.
“Yes, Holly,” you said. “But we’ll be right back at one, I promise.”
She looked over to Daryl, her round, cherubic face close to breaking into tears. He knelt down to hug her tight, in that big, warm bear hug that could never be replicated by anyone but her father. Something about the ways fathers hug, especially fathers who love their children more than life itself, is so special and pure.
“Tell ya what,” he said over her shoulder, “we’ll get ice cream after school, and you can get as many scoops as ya want this time.”
The last time Daryl took her for ice cream at the local parlor, she begged and pleaded for a double scoop, but Daryl was intent on making sure she didn’t have too much sugar, lest she be up all night. Today, however, was a special occasion.
“Really?” she gasped, grinning wide at Daryl. “Double scoop rainbow sherbet in a waffle cone?”
You laughed as you checked her backpack, making sure everything she needed was in there. Daryl was once again establishing himself as the favorite, though it was too cute to protest.
“Whatever you want,” he said with a crooked, almost deliriously happy smile. Quickly, though, it faded when Mrs. Montgomery called all the students outside in, gesturing for the parents to let their children go. “You be good, all right?” he said, his voice a little shaky. “Don’t want no calls sayin’ you were a little menace.” He held her hands and swung her arms playfully as she nodded with a few fresh tears beginning to form.
“We’re gonna be right here waiting for you when class gets out,” you said, turning her around and planting a kiss upon her cheek. She returned the favor, and gave you a hug before returning once again to Daryl, throwing her arms around his neck and kissing his cheek.
He smiled and lifted her a little off the ground, her little feet swinging daintily in the air. “Go on, now,” he said as he let go of her. “‘Fore ya make me cry.”
A quick exchange of “I love you’s” (and one last bear hug for Daryl), and Holly was gone, one of the last children to enter the classroom.
You both watched long after the door closed, and Daryl reached for you immediately, wrapping his arm tight around your waist. Though you were crying just a little, Daryl seemed to need you more than you needed him as he held back his tears with a few deep sniffles.
“Are you crying, baby?” you asked sweetly, side-hugging him tightly. “It’s okay.”
“Pfft,” he scoffed. “Ain’t cryin’. Just… got somethin’ in my eye. You okay?”
You rolled your eyes and leaned up to kiss his cheek. “Oh, my sweet, sensitive man... I’m fine. I think you’re the one who’s a little emotional.”
“Stop,” he groaned. “Guess we should go now… Just don’t wanna leave ‘er.”
“She’ll be fine,” you said, holding him closer and trying to turn around with him towards the parking lot. He reluctantly let you lead him there, but not without looking back a few times. “They grow up so fast, huh?”
He shook his head and smiled, happy at the bittersweet moment, because although he didn’t want her to grow up, he knew this was the beginning of her blossoming into the person she wanted to be, whoever that was.
“Yeah,” he said. “They do.”

White Wedding (Addison Montgomery x Female Reader)
Weddings are supposed to be full of love, happiness and gratitude. A wonderful celebration of two souls coming together as one. Today was one of those days. Callie and Arizona were finally and officially tying the knot.
It was supposed to be a happy celebration all round; all the happy couples loved up, attending the wedding together. Meredith and Derek, Christina and Teddy, Owen and Amelia, Richard and Catherine, among others showed their support for the sweetest couple who were currently reciting their vows.
You sat alone in the third row from the front, extremely proud of your friends. You were smiling from ear to ear as they each walked down the aisle. You knew their story like the back of your hand, and couldn’t contain the happiness you felt when Callie and Arizona finally came through for the other, especially after the accident. They had come so far.
You felt a pang of sadness, taking a look around the room at all the couples. You wished your girlfriend, Addison was here with you, but she had to fly back to LA after Sofia’s delivery. You barely spent enough time together as it is, both of you living in separate cities, leading separate lives. You did, however have a relatively strong and healthy relationship, taking the time to have long phone calls, FaceTime, and send as many text messages as you could. You tried to sneak weekends away  to LA, also.
But, things felt strained for the last few months, and you both felt the need to remedy that.
The last time you and Addison saw each other was during her stay, which was 4 days long. You hadn’t seen each other for five weeks, and you could tell the strain was getting to you. But, you both pushed those feelings down to focus on your friends. After all, you were both doctors.
When you did catch up, you and Addison had a slight argument the night before she was set to jet out of Seattle. You sort of made up, but you hadn’t really spoken since, just the odd text and call here and there.
You reminisced…
“Honey, I really want to stay longer, but I can’t. I’ve got patients to get back to and-“, Addison said sadly.
“We’ve barely seen each other for weeks on end, and when we do, you suddenly have to rush off again. I get that you have a new life now and I respect that. Of course I do, but where the fuck do we fit in?! When you took the job in LA, we promised we’d make each other a priority regardless of whatever happened. You only fly back to Seattle when Richard needs you. I’m busting my butt every other week, rearranging schedules, going out of my way to see you. Because guess what, Addison? I love you! Clearly you don’t love me enough, otherwise you’d be making some sacrifices” you snapped.
Addison was taken aback. You had never seen her look so sad and upset. You just missed her so much, and wanted to be with her. You instantly felt guilty for snapping because you didn’t mean to go that far and before she could say anything, you jumped in again.
“Shit. Baby, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean that. I just miss you so much. You know that. I’m so so sorry”, you said, equally sad as you reached for her hand.
“We’ll, I’m not going to say that didn’t hurt, because it did. But I understand. I guess it was deserved. I’m sorry too, sweetheart. I’m gonna do better, I promise”, she said.
You held each other tight, “I love you”, you said in unison.
Addison was about to say something else when -
Her watch beeped, reminding of her flight and you drove her back to the airport where you shared one last kiss.
It wasn’t the way you wanted to make up, but it was a start.
Upon arriving back in LA, she texted immediately.
‘I’m back. I won’t say back home, because it isn’t home. Never has, never will be. My home is with you. FaceTime with me tomorrow? I love you baby xxxxx’, she texted
“Me too, my love. I most certainly will. I’m so sorry again. I love you too xxxx”, you replied.
Things improved between the two of you over the next four weeks, before she told you she couldn’t attend the wedding…
“I’m sorry, sweetheart. I really wanted to be there, but I just can’t get away”, she said, evidentially disappointed.
“Oh…okay. It’s fine. I can try and film it for you. It’s not going to be the same without you. I love you”. You were sad, but you didn’t want to push her.
……………..
Drawing you from your thoughts, you noticed the last of the guests arriving before the brides made their voyage down the aisle.
“Excuse me, beautiful, is this seat taken?”, you heard a voice say.
You thought you were dreaming. It couldn’t be. You looked up, to see a familiar, beautiful face smiling sweetly at you.
“Addison?!”, you shrieked
You both started crying as she pulled you up into her arms, holding you tightly.
“Surprise”, she whispered huskily into your ear.
“What are you doing here?! I thought you couldn’t come”, you cried.
“I couldn’t bear being away from you anymore”, she said, smiling through tears.
You kissed her with everything you had, before she pulled back.
“I mean it. I’m miserable in LA. I can’t stand it there. So, I’m coming home - for good”, she said.
You didn’t exactly comprehend what she said at first, but then gasped in delight, wrapping her up in your arms. Looking around, your friends were watching you both, all clearly happy for you.
You and Addison still had a lot to talk about, but right now, you put it to the side when Callie and Arizona appeared….
Everyone cried during the vow exchange, and you and Addison shared sweet, knowing looks, never letting go of each other’s hands.
…………..
At the reception, everyone gathered around Arizona and Callie as they had their first dance as a married couple.
Addison wrapped her arms around you from behind and rested her chin on your shoulder as you watched the happy couple. You hugged her arms, and she reached around to peck you on the lips. You two couldn’t get enough of each other.
When it came time for other couples to join the dance floor, you and Addison wasted no time walking hand in hand to the floor. At this point, everyone was in their own worlds, all content and happy, buzzing from the day’s events, while you and Addison were completely wrapped up in your own little bubble.
“So….”, she said, arms wrapped around your waist, holding you close as you swayed to Shania Twain’s ‘You’ve Got a Way’.
“So…”, you repeated.
She jumped right into it.
“I’ve missed you, my love. I really have. You are everything to me. I’m so sorry for making you feel otherwise. I shouldn’t have been neglecting us”, she said softly, her eyes not leaving yours.
“Addie, hey… No, please. I’m sorry - I had no right to go off at you. I should’ve been more understanding. You uprooted your life and that’s a huge deal; because you’re a big deal, babe. I thought about what I said to you that night, and it was completely unfair, way out of line, in fact.. I was just projecting my feelings onto you. I was so scared that by you moving would have jeopardised our relationship without thinking about anything else. It was me, I was selfish”, you said, sheepishly.
“In other words, you thought I’d cheat on you. That’s it, isn’t it?”, she asked.
You felt tears in your eyes. Blinking them back, you smiled sadly and nodded.
“Come on now, you know I would never, ever, do that to you”, she said.
“I know. I…know. I just should've been more supportive of you. I know what this opportunity meant to you”, you said, your tone apologetic.
“It’s not all on you, okay. I realised I was working longer hours, and I turned my back on us because I was so overwhelmed with all of it, and avoided you, because I think deep down, I was scared too. I was afraid of hurting you, and was terrified the long distance wouldn't work at first. So, I can see how you must’ve felt that way”, Addison said, gently touching your face.
You looked into her eyes, to see the tears shimmering like white diamonds.
“Baby…”, you said.
“Being away from you, not being able to see you, or hold you, or kiss you, made me realise that you, that what we have, is worth more to me than any job. So I told Naomi I quit, called Richard, and he offered me a new job”, Addison smiled.
“Oh, Addie, that’s great!”, you said gleefully.
“Yes, yes it is. But, the best part is that I am now Grey Sloan’s Chief of Neo-Natal Surgery. I’m officially the boss now, baby. You know what that means. This is going to be so good for us!”, Addie said.
You were crying softly and gently touched her face. You knew what this meant; Addison being in charge of her own specialty, back on home soil meant everything to her. She was determined to fight for her relationship with you, so being the boss meant she could make her own rules and schedule. But, not only that, she deserved that title; worked hard for it her whole life; and you were determined to fight to the ends of the earth for her.
It hit you then that she was really back.
“You’re home?!”, you asked, almost in shock.
“Mm-hmm. I’m home, baby”, she beamed.
“No more messing around, no more arguments. This is it - you and me. No more turning back. I want to fight for us”, she continued.
“I want to fight for us too”, you said back.
You smiled brightly at each other, feeling more connected and more in love than ever.
She was just about to kiss you when you heard the clinking of champagne glasses, as Callie’s father, Mr Torres called for a toast.
“Thank you everyone for coming to celebrate my beautiful daughter, Calliope and her wonderful new wife, Arizona on their special day today. These two have gone through hell and back to be together. I have never felt prouder of my little girl, than I do today. I look around the room, and see it filled with such love. It’s a really beautiful thing. Real, true love is a once in a lifetime feeling, so if you’ve found it, hold onto it with both hands and never let it go, because it’s one crazy ride. Ladies, I congratulate you both on overcoming your obstacles and finding your way to each other. I love you both so much, my dear daughters. To Callie and Arizona!”, Mr Torres exclaimed, full of pride.
“To Callie and Arizona!”, everyone said.
The newlyweds kissed, before turning their attention to the wedding cake.
You and Addison watched the whole exchange, extremely proud of your friends, grateful to be a part of their special, historic day; however, deep down, you both pictured this day of your own, in your not so distant future.
Addison and you shared a look, and you both just knew. This was the path you wanted to take.
“Forever and always, Addie”, you said, winking at her.
“Forever and always, Y/N”, she repeated, clutching your hand, bringing it to her lips.

Third year songs <3
this is most of the thrid years- not all
from my spotify liked playlist <3
comes with a side of slight character analysis
These are my interpretations of HQ characters and these songs!!
Time-skip spoilers!! (very slight)
---
Karasuno
Daichi Sawamura
 Waiting for Superman- Daughtry
She's waiting for Superman
To lift her up
And take her anywhere
Show her love
And climbing through the air
Save her now
Before it's too late tonight
She's waiting for Superman
Daichi seems like he makes a  lot of promises, that he just can’t physically keep. He just has so many things going on that he just can’t pay attention to all of them at once. This leads to far too many forgotten dates and even more broken promises. You know its not his fault and he does too, he just can’t leave anyone hanging.
Koushi Sugawara
 Island- Florida Georgia Line
We might as well be on an island
Like we're the last two on this Earth
Like we're frozen here in time
Like it's empty here tonight
I feel like suga likes to put himself back into happier times. And that he tries to hold into happy moments as they are happening. He says he is a man of the moment, but when he feels down, he tries to put himself back into the more joyous times.
Asahi Azumane
You say- Lauren Daigle
You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And you say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don't belong, oh You say I am Yours
And I believe (I)
Oh, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe
Asahi is clearly very attached to how people perceive him. So when people shower him with compliments, he attaches onto them. He likes what makes him comfortable and he wants to stay comfortable for as long as he can. Words are important to him, so when he hears something bad it can ruin him for a while. He really does believe what the people he loves say to him.
Kiyoko Shimizu
 Mothers daughter- Miley Cyrus
Oh my gosh, she got the power
Oh, look at her, she got the power
So, so, so
Must be something in the water
Or that I'm my mother's daughter
The power this woman carries. She’s built her confidence and she’s not letting anyone ruin it for her. I truly believe that her friends all become more confident because she wants everyone around her to feel confident too. Since she doesn't speak all that much she lets her body language do most of the expression.
--
Nekoma
Tetsurō Kuroo
 High school sweethearts- Melanie Martinez
Could you hold me through the night?
Put your lips all over my mine
Salty face when I start cryin'
Could you be my first time?
Eat me up like apple pie
Kuroo definitely takes trust very seriously. I feel he’s also really scared of someone breaking this trust, so he does form it with a lot of people. That saying if he does, he wants it to last forever.
 (...Step twoThis is a waste if you can't walk me down the finish line…)
He truly believes in the people he surrounds himself with.
Nobuyuki Kai
Kill the Lights- Set it Off
Now I am cutting ties clean off
And I can breathe at last
So we all stand enthralled by this bland curtain call
And the truth we pursue as we all, we all beg you to
 Kai seems like he wasn't really that invested in volleyball, so having all these passionate people around him was a shock.  But he really got into third year, and he wants people to feel that passion too. In the back of his mind he feels bad for not feeling it like the rest of the team, but since looking in the past means nothing now, he tries to move on.
Morisuke Yaku
 Mama- Mcr
And when we go don't blame us, yeah
We'll let the fires just bathe us, yeah
You made us oh so famous;
We'll never let you go
And when you go don't return to me my love
I mean, he is part of the mom squad. But it's ever so slightly more deep. I’m gonna say it's momma-bird syndrome. He doesn't want people to move on without him, seeing people achieve their dreams is great but he doesn't want you to do it if that means loving him.
--
Seijoh
Tōru Oikawa
Prom Queen- Beach Bunny
Maybe I should try harder
You should lower your expectations
I'm no quick-curl barbie
I was never cut out for prom queen
I feel like oikawa is constantly feeling like he has to catch up to everyone around him. At some point in Argentina he came to the conclusion that he was good enough and didn't need to rise to anyone's standards of him, but when he got picked for the national team everything came back. He still has all of those feelings from high-school. Never making it to nationals, feeling like he failed his team.
Issei Matsukawa
Bubblegum Bitch- Marina and the diamonds
Got a figure like a pin-up, got a figure like a doll
Don't care if you think I'm dumb, I don't care at all
Candy bear, sweetie pie, wanna be adored
I'm the girl you'd die for
I feel like to earn Mattsun’s trust, he would put you through some ridiculous trial of sorts. I also feel that he is very comfortable with who he is, and he takes no shit about it. But that comes with the fact that he rarely takes fault in things, and that sparks arguments. He’ll use your love for him against you, he’ll be as cold as he can muster, until YOU take fault.
Takahiro Hanamaki
 OUT THE ROOF- Chase Atlantic
Yeah, we stay lit
We fuck bitches, pop on pillies, that is it, yeah
Holy moly, holy shit, yeah
Me and all my people are heaven sent, yeah, yup
9this is a strait vibe for Makki)
I feel like Makki drowns his problems out with meaningless activities. Like smoking or one-night stands. He’d rather drown out his problems then have them in his  face. Or when he’s forced to face them, he’ll deflect until he has nothing else to deflect. Because when you’re high there nothing to worry about! Why stress about meaningless problems when he can be having fun!
Hajime Iwaizumi
 Endlessly- The Cab
Yeah, your friends may think I'm crazy
Cause they can only see
I'm not perfect, but I swear, I'm perfect for you.
And there's no guarantee
That this will be easy.
It's not a miracle you need, believe me.
Yeah, I'm no angel, I'm just me
But I will love you endlessly.
Iwa knows that he can't be there for you all the time. Physically he tries his best, mentally he can help when he can. But you both know that you're perfect for one another. He just can't help but listen to the people around him sometimes. You deserve the world, but he doesn't know if he can give that to you.
--
Fukurodani
Kōtarō Bokuto
Prima Donna- Andrew Lloyd Webber
Can you bow out when they're shouting your name?
Think of how they all adore you
We’ve all seen how Bokuto gets what he’s praised for literally anything remotely impressive. So that makes him a cannon prima donna! but that also means the lows and really bad mood swings. This song just fits him so well it’s scary.
--
Shiratorizawa
Wakatoshi Ushijim
 More- Usher
If you really want more, scream it out louder,
If you on the floor, bring out the fire,
And light it up, take it up higher,
Gotta push it to the limit, give it more.
This seems kinda obvious, but Ushijima never gives up. Ever since he was a kid, he set a goal for himself and he went beyond what he even set out for. And that comes with a lot of work and training for every new level of volleyball. He’s just going to get better and better until he retires, or is forced to retire.
Eita Semi
 strawberries and cigarettes- troye sivan
Long nights, daydreams
Sugar and smoke rings, I've been a fool
But strawberries and cigarettes always taste like you
Headlights, on me
Racing to 60, I've been a fool
But strawberries and cigarettes always taste like
Blue eyes, black jeans
Lighters and candy, I've been a fool
But strawberries and cigarettes always taste like you
I feel like semi always thinks about how Shirabu replaced him on the starting line-up. But he’s mostly gotten over it, but certain things bring him back into that stage of his life. Then the cycle starts all over again. He constantly looks back on the game against Karasuno and thinks about wat would have happened if he was the setter instead.
Reon Ōhira
 Remember when- Chris Wallace
So can we push push push rewind,
Go go back in time,
When we were kids sneaking bottles of wine,
Take take take me back, I wanna go back,
Back to what we had! Do you remember when we started this mess,
My heart was beating out of my chest!,
Remember when we stole your dad's car,
Reon gives me the vibe that his days at Shiratorizawa were some of the best of his life. How can they not be? He made the greatest friends of his life there. And I also feel like he looks back on them a bit more than he wants to admit.
Satori Tendō
 This Side of Paradise- Coyote theory
Are you lonely?
Passion is crashing as we speak
You seem so lonely
You're the ground my feet won't reach
So if you're lonely
Darling you're glowing
If you're lonely come be lonely with me.
I get the vibe that Tendou attaches himself to whatever makes him feel wanted/safe. (ex. volleyball) he knows it isn't healthy, but he can't help it. This does lead to him completely distancing himself from you over and over because he thinks you’ll leave him.
Hayato Yamagata- House of gold- Twenty one Pilots
I will make you
Queen of everything you see
I'll put you on the map
I'll cure you of disease (Ooh)
And since we know that dreams are dead
And life turns plans up on their head
I will plan to be a bum
So I just might become someone
Even though we don't see a lot of him, I get the feeling he treats people really well. Like he cherishes people a lot more than some of them deserve. As you can see this leads to some unfair relationships and toxic people. He just wants to hold on until a good person comes along.

Suguru Daishō
Mr Loverman - Ricky Montgomery
I'm Mr. Loverman
And I miss my lover, man
I'm Mr. Loverman
Oh, and I miss my lover
I feel like this was way too obvious, but it really is his song. It’s literally cannon, every lyric in this song is what happened with Mika. but in the end he got her back and made his promise  to be a better loverman <3.
Kazuma Numai
 Nonstop- Drake
Future took the business and ran it for me
I let Ollie take the owl, told him brand it for me
I get two million a pop and that's standard for me
Like I went blind dog, you gotta hand it to me
He looks and acts like a guy who listens to drake. He just seems like a guy who won't stop or give up even when things take a turn. He’ll just keep fighting until nothing’s left.
Kōji Hiroo
 At the Wheel- Colorblind
I need something to wake me up
It's never strong enough
I'm just getting colder and starting over
Going numb is just the way I run from
All my problems when I can't solve them
Need to break away
Escape the way I'm feeling
Hate to be fake, but I'm just dealing
This one doesn't really have a true reason, i really just felt like this was his song.  Sorry just the vibe.
;)
Inarizaki
Shinsuke Kita
 Oh Ms Believer- twenty one pilots
Oh, Ms. Believer, my pretty sleeper
Your twisted mind is like snow on the road
Your shaking shoulders prove that it's colder
Inside your head than the winter of dead
I will tell you I love you
But the muffs on your ears will cater your fears
My nose and feet are running as we start
To travel through snow
Together we go
I feel like kita is unintentionally cold towards the world, like he wants to open up but can't figure out how. But in turn if you can get him to feel “warmer” (get closer to him) he’ll share everything with you, almost oversharing. Just because he can't help it, he’s kept it all in for so long. Sometimes he just needs someone to hold him and make HIM feel better, because he does it for everyone. If you can manage all of this i feel like he’ll keep you with him forever.
Ren Ōmimi
 Armor- Landon Austin
I'm not bullet proof when it comes to you
Don't know what to say when you made me the enemy
After the war is won
There's always the next one
I'm not bullet proof when it comes to you
I feel like not a lot of people approach ren because of how intimidating he looks. This has made him weary when people are really enthused to first meet him, because he thinks it’s a joke. After getting over that hurdle i feel like he just isn't an open person so it’ll take a long time to even get to a point where he trusts you. Hence the other wars after the first.
Aran Ojiro-
 Never really over- Katy perry
Two years, and just like that, my head still takes me back
Thought it was done, but I guess it's never really over
Oh, we were such a mess, but wasn't it the best?
Thought it was done, but I guess it's never really over
Just because it's over doesn't mean it's really over
And if I think it over, maybe you'll be coming over again
And I'll have to get over you all over again
After all of these years, I really don't think Aran has truly gotten over losing at nationals in third year. And now on the national team he sees Hinata and Kageyama all the time and it takes him back. It makes him re-feel all the emotions he felt after the game. It hurt him to know that he gave his everything and still lost.  Like when he’s in bed he puts himself back into that self loathing phase of his life.
Michinari Akagi
Try Hard - 5sos
It's obvious she’s so out of reach
And I'm finding it hard 'cause
She makes me feel, makes me feel
Like I try, like I try, like I'm trying too hard
'Cause I'm not being me
And it’s getting me down that
She makes me think, makes me think
That I try, that I try, that I'm trying too hard again
Akagi gives off boy best friend vibes.  But like to EVERYONE, so the person he liked just thought he was making fun of them and he didn't like them back. And i feel like that kinda traumatized him a bit, so when he got a new s/o he tried really really hard to make them special, but the same thing happened.
i may do some with the second and first years, idk this took so long :)

Sammy Davis Jr.: Civil Rights Activist and Natural Born Entertainer By Susan King
Tumblr media
Sammy Davis Jr. was an exceptional talent. He could sing (you’ll get chills up your spine listening to his recording of “I Gotta Be Me”), dance, act and lest we forget, he was a member of the Rat Pack. He and Harry Belafonte made history in 1956 when they became the first African Americans to earn Emmy nominations.
But most people forget Davis was also very involved in the fight for civil rights in the 1950s and ‘60s. In January 1961, he joined Rat Packers Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, as well as Harry Belafonte, Mahalia Jackson and Tony Bennett, for the Carnegie Hall benefit concert Tribute to Martin Luther King. He also performed at the Freedom Rally in Los Angeles that year and at the March on Montgomery in 1965.
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. even wrote Davis a thank you note: “Not very long ago, it was customary for Negro artists to hold themselves aloof from the struggle for equality… Today, greats like Harry Belafonte, Sidney Poitier, Mahalia Jackson and yourself, of course, are not content to merely identify with the struggle. They actively participate in it, as artists and as citizens, adding the weight of their enormous prestige and thus helping to move the struggle forward.”
In 1968, Davis received the prestigious Spingarn Medal from the NAACP for his 1965 autobiography Yes, I Can. Nevertheless, considering his work for the late Dr. King, Davis shocked the world in 1972 when he supported Richard Nixon, who had a poor track record when it came to civil rights and would refer to African Americans in derogatory terms behind closed doors. But there was Davis, attending the opening night of the Republican convention in Miami Beach and then performing a concert for Republican youth. And it was during the concert that he hugged Nixon.
Tumblr media
The backlash in the African American community was loud and strong. Wil Haywood stated in his biography In Black and White: The Life of Sammy Davis, Jr., “Sammy failed to understand Blacks’ distrust of Nixon’s ultraconservative views. The hug at the Republican National Convention, in the glare of the nation’s spotlight, seemed too to minstrelsy.“
Davis later said: “By their definition I had let them down. In their minds there were certain things I could do, certain rules I could break. I married a white woman and I hardly got any heat. But by going with a Republican president I had broken faith with my people.”
In a 1976 Ebony interview, Davis reflected that working with Nixon was not a betrayal to African Americans but a way to help Black citizens. “When my wife, Altovise, and I were invited to the White House after the November elections, I repeated [my recommendations],” he noted. “We started to rap, and he asks, ‘What can I do?’ Come on Sam, tell me what I can do.’ So, I laid it down again.”
He told Nixon that the funds cut from anti-poverty programs needed to be reinstated and that Martin Luther King’s birthday should be made a national holiday. But he soon realized Nixon wasn’t listening to him. He regretted supporting Nixon.
Davis was born in Harlem on December 8, 1925 to vaudevillians Sammy Davis Sr. and Elvera Sanchez, who was of Afro-Cuban descent. The couple separated in 1928, and Sammy Jr. lived with his father and his grandmother, Mama. He was just three when he joined the Will Mastin Trio with his father and Mastin. Davis never went to school. In a 2014 Los Angeles Times interview, his daughter Tracey Davis recalled her father telling her, “What have I got? No looks, no money, no education. Just talent.”
Tumblr media
As a youngster, he appeared in short films, including Rufus Jones for President (’33). He toured with the Mastin Trio until he was drafted into the Army during World War II, where he suffered so much abuse from white soldiers that his nose was broken three times. “How did he make it and so many others not make it?,” Tracey Davis reflected. “He had talent. But what he went through would have killed a lot of people or make them bitter or just messed with your life so bad you couldn’t get over it.”
In 1954, Davis survived a car crash on his way home to Los Angeles after performing in Vegas. He lost an eye. He wore an eye-patch for six months and then was fitted with a glass eye. Two years later, he opened on Broadway in the musical Mr. Wonderful.
It was announced in August 2020 that a film is in pre-production about the ill-fated relationship in 1957 between Davis and Kim Novak. The relationship was quashed, as it would have killed Novak’s career and supposedly, it quite literally would have killed Davis – a hit was allegedly put out on his life. To keep the heat off of him, Davis was briefly married in 1958 to dancer Loray White.
In 1960, Davis married striking Swedish actress Mai Britt. According to Tracey Davis, her mother, who had appeared THE YOUNG LIONS (‘58) and THE BLUE ANGEL (‘59), was dropped by 20th Century-Fox because of her marriage. Tracey said her parents “didn’t regret being together. My mom loved my dad like crazy and my dad loved my mother. My mother was so lucky because her parents didn’t care.” Though they divorced in 1968, she said they never fell out of love. Before his death of cancer in 1990 at the age of 64, Davis told his daughter why they broke up: “I just couldn’t be what she wanted me to be. A family man. My performance schedule was rigorous.”
Tumblr media
Tracey said that her dad and Sinatra were great friends offstage. “He was like a good cushion for dad.” And, if Davis ran into trouble due to his race, Sinatra was there to fight the good fight for his friend. “He’d say, ‘Oh, Sammy can’t come in here? Then I’m not coming in.’ I think it gave my dad such comfort knowing he had this big brother out there that would go to the mat for him.” Davis, who was a chain smoker and was rarely seen without a glass of vermouth, had a falling out with Sinatra in the early 1970s, because the performer was using drugs. “Frank was mad he was squandering himself, doing stupid things. He let dad know about it and dad was kind of well, I don’t care.’’ Eventually, Davis did care and apologized to the Chairman of the Board.
Being a member of the Rat Pack gave Davis a certain visibility, especially in the films they made together, including OCEAN’S 11 (‘60) and ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS (‘64), but all of the actors were just having a good time on screen. These vehicles didn’t show Davis’s strength as a dramatic actor. But occasionally, he got the opportunity, such as in ANNA LUCASTA (‘58) opposite Eartha Kitt, CONVICTS 4 (‘62) and A MAN CALLED ADAM (‘66). And in 1964, he returned to the Broadway stage in the Charles Strouse-Lee Adams musical Golden Boy, for which he earned a Tony nomination.
“He was very representative of a time and place,” said Strouse in a 2003 L.A. Times interview. “He was created from a lot of forces, like the Earth coming in and ‘whoop,’ here comes Sammy Davis. He was brilliant along with everything else. He was the biggest star of the day and in the theater, he had no peer. We sold out all the time.”
Tumblr media
But Davis also missed a lot of performances of Golden Boy. “He got himself very tired or perhaps depressed or nervous,” reflected Stouse, adding that Davis stretched himself thin “the way lemmings go to the edge of the cliff and then they go off. He didn’t go off, but he was always on the end of the cliff. He was very driven and yet very mild-mannered and almost submissive to Sinatra. He had to be loved. He wouldn’t get off the stage.”
As he got older, Davis stopped wearing flashy clothes and jewelry and got back to basics as a singer and performer. And, he is the best thing about his last film, TAP (‘89), with Gregory Hines. Their tap dance will make your heart beat a bit faster. Tracey Davis said though her father was “incredibly driven,” he had a “huge heart, a zest for life. He had more energy than anyone I had known.”

Tate Langdon - American Horror Story
Wrote this a long time ago. My original plan back then was so make this into a multiple chapter story, but then I ultimately lost interest like all my other failed projects. 🙃
I also didn’t know how to fucking end this story, sorryyy ughhhh
❗Trigger warning❗
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~
Welp, I am dead.
Like, super dead.
One minute I’m slitting my wrists wide open in my bathroom and now I’m standing over my body watching myself decay.
I never thought I’d become a ghost or whatever I am. I didn’t even believe in the afterlife. I thought I’d just die and that would be it. I wouldn’t feel anything, it’d be peaceful. I was definitely wrong.
I moved into this big mansion in California with my parents. I didn’t want to die, I just thought it was my only way out. Now, I’m stuck here. Great. I really screwed the pooch this time.
After my parents found me rotting away, they decided to move away to have a fresh new start. Not that I blame them. But I was kinda pissed they just left me here, unable to step one foot off this property except for Halloween.
If I’m being completely honest, it’s not that terrible. I’m not alone. Turns out, many people have died here. Violently, which is fun.
There’s a woman that lives here who is kinda crazy, but she’s nice. She treats me better than my own mother did. She wishes I was a baby though, cause her baby is all kinds of fucked up.
There’s an elderly woman here too, who I found out was actually dead and lived here. When I was alive, she was our maid and constantly tried to seduce my father, which I reluctantly forgave her for that.
That weird neighbour, Constance, always visits here, since she has multiple children who have died here as well. I’ve yet to meet her eldest, Tate. To be honest, I don’t think I want to meet him. I’ve seen him wander around the halls but I’ve never shown myself around him. Mrs. Montgomery says he’s just misunderstood, but shooting up a school is a little too much for me.
I hang out with his brother sometimes, and by hanging out I mean basically rolling a ball back and forth. It makes him somewhat happy though, I guess. I know one of these days I’m going to run into him, I just hope it’s later rather than sooner.
~~~
Today, that real estate agent bitch is trying to sell this house, yet again. Only for the owners to be killed and get stuck here for all eternity. Anyone in their right mind would not buy this house, especially knowing what took place here.
I watch the family interested in buying the house from my old bedroom. They look like a relatively normal family. A mom, dad, and their angsty teenage daughter and a cute pet dog.
Yeah, they definitely wouldn’t survive living here.
“Spying on the new folks, I see?”
“Jesus! You scared me!” I turn to see Tate. Oh boy, this should be fun.
“Y/N L/N. How lovely to finally meet you. I never got the chance to introduce myself when you first moved here cause you see, you killed yourself before I even got the chance. Which was kind of rude on your part.” He smirked. “Your death was very entertaining, I must say. All that blood gushing everywhere, man, it was quite the spectacle.”
“Glad you found my death so entertaining, Tate. I’m sure yours was too.” I smile sweetly, making his smug grin quickly turn into a glare.
“Anyway,” he coughed, “better introduce myself to the new folks soon.”
“But...you’re dead.”
“Well, they don’t need to know that.” He walked over to the window where I saw. “That girl’s kinda hot, wouldn’t you say?” He smirked. “Don’t worry though, I find you even prettier.”
I scoffed and kept looking out the window. The teenage girl looked over towards the window. I quickly hid myself from her sight but Tate didn’t until she did a double take.
I gave him confused look. “What? It’s fun to play with people’s minds from time to time. You should try it sometime. Stop being a stick in the mud.” He said and walked away.
I can already tell he’s going to be so annoying.
I decided to take a closer look at the new comers. Tate was right though, that girl is pretty. I listened in on their conversation and I learned their names. Ben, Vivian, and Violet. All nice names, nice innocent names. They seem like nice people, sucks that they’ll die when they move in.
A few hours, Adelaide sneaks into the house. She always finds a way in here. She waves and smiles at me when she walks past, I still don’t know how she’s able to see me when I’m not visible to anyone, not that I mind cause I love her like a sister. She walks up behind Vivian, “You’re going to die in here.”
She’s never been one to know how to start a conversation.
~~~
I learned that Ben was a psychiatrist and Tate had an appointment with him today. He seems to be really determined to get to know these people, especially Violet. I thought about listening in, but that seemed too much. I just wandered the halls until I reached the bathroom. Violet hurts herself?
I hear footsteps and quickly sped off down the hall and hid behind a corridor, it was Tate. “You’re doing it wrong. If you wanna kill yourself, you should cut vertically. The doctors can’t stitch that up.” I hear him say.
What the hell? Why would he say that?
He closed the door and walked off. I shook my head and went up to the attic, my usual hang out spot.
I sat in the corner, I looked up and saw that the creepy rubber costume wasn’t there anymore. Thank god, that thing creeped me out to no end.
A red ball rolls to me, and I sigh. “I’m not in the mood, Beau.” I roll it back and it stays.
The attic door opens and Tate pops his head in, he sees me and smiles. “So, this is where you hang out? Good to know.” He says.
“Why? So you can annoy me better?” I say.
“Aw, don’t be like that. We should be friends.”
I laugh. “Yeah, right.”
Tate simple smirked and sat down beside me. “Come on. We’d make awesome...friends.”
I quickly scowled at him. “Why would you say that to Violet by the way? She could actually be convinced to do that, you know.”
“Oh, I was just trying to get another girl so we could have an afterlife threesome. Doesn’t that sound great?”
“Get outta here.”
Tate rolled his eyes, blowing me a kiss as he opened up attic door and descended the ladder.
I scoff. This kid really is crazy, maybe it’s a good thing that he’s seeing Dr. Harmon. Tate climbed down the ladder and the attic door closed with a loud slam.
The red ball rolls to me.
~~~
Tate is hanging out with Violet on her room. I’m not stalking him! I just wanna make sure he doesn’t kill her. “Tate. What are you doing here? You need to leave now.” Ben says. Violet tries to calm her dad, but he insisted on him leaving.
“Just trying to be friends with your friendless daughter, Ben” Tate says. I roll my eyes and leave the hallway, accidently bumping into the kid. “Woah there. Aw, is someone spying on me?” He smirked.
I scoff. “As if.” Tate had a playful twinkle in his eyes, making me feel more nervous in his presence. “Just making sure you don’t murder that girl.”
“Me? Murdering someone? Nah.” He joked, but when he saw that I wasn’t joking, he dropped his smile. “Look, my murdering days are behind me, okay? I don’t want to hurt anyone anymore. I promise.”
“I’ll make sure to hold you to that, pretty boy.”
“Aw, you think I’m pretty?”
“Don’t push me.” I scowled, Tate fake saluting me before I started to walk off. I gasped when I suddenly felt Tate turn me around so he could plant a kiss on my cheek. “What the hell?” I stuttered.
Tate simply shrugged and smiled. “You just look very kissable.”

The Night Ali Disappeared ~ A PLL Night of Terror ~
Tumblr media
In other words, the night Ali had too many people against and after her and she almost got murdered for it.
 *most info comes from a PLL site if I can’t remember every little detail so I rewrote the majority of my version of events and copy and pasted some parts along with some of the pictures, so credit goes to them for putting it altogether for us.
Link:  https://prettylittleliars.fandom.com/wiki/Sequence_of_Events_-_Alison%27s_Disappearance#The_Day_Alison_Went_Missing_-_September_1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lets take a trip down memory lane shall we??? This is gonna be a long one. Read it if you want to or read it from the link as well :)
1. The morning of: Alison went to Hilton Head to meet up and be with Ian to get her mind off of - A. And at the same time Melissa was there with Ian but in separate rooms. Melissa showed up in Ian’s room and was angry with Ian for knowing Ali is there with him and he tells her that Alison means nothing to him, that’s when Alison finds Ian’s creepy pedo videos and it happens to be one of Toby and Jenna. She gets a copy of the video and then leaves.
Tumblr media
2. Alison checks into the Lost Woods Resort under her Alias Vivian. Sparia also found out she checked in another time. But the dates are confusing. This will be explained later on (#23).
Tumblr media
3. Alison then dressed up as Vivian Darkbloom and had Duncan fly her from Hilton Head to a field near Philadelphia 6-7 hours before the girls believed her to arrive (I’m not sure if it’s true or not). She then was going to meet A face to face finally after having a newspaper convo back and forth with them, but supposedly that never happened. They were supposed to meet nearby of what looks like a creepy doll hospital (cuz Mona loves dolls), supposedly Alison called the police that same day near the street where the hospital was - not sure what for if this was true as Alison never confirmed it.
Tumblr media
4. Alison then goes visits Jenna in the hospital, to show her the video of Jenna and Toby together as blackmail, because she thought Jenna was A. Turns out to be false as A sends her a death threat right after leaving Jenna’s room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. That afternoon: Alison then “returns home” from Georgia with bags looking very tan and saying her arms are sore. One bag had a tag on it from Hilton Head, Spencer obviously questions it and Alison asks her “why so many questions?” and reiterates she can’t spill every detail and tells the girls to “wait for it” repeatedly.
Tumblr media
6. Alison returns home and finds a gift from her mom with the infamous yellow top and she turns around after changing in her room and sees a threatening message from A on her mirror.
Tumblr media
7.  That same day, Alison bought a storage locker to hide Ian’s videos before stopping by to see Emily and flirt with her some to then give her a snow globe with the storage locker key inside the bottom of it. Alison then leaves for a “prior engagement” although it was never revealed who she went to see next before coming to Spencer’s barn for the sleep over.
Tumblr media
8. Before heading over to the sleepover. Alison returns home again and runs into her mom (on the phone with Radley because Bethany escaped and Charlotte escaped as well to go after her). Her mom wanted to Ali to stay in for obvious reasons even though the excuse that she just didn’t want to her going out. Alison then fights back by saying she planned this ages ago and was told it was ok to do. Then she mentions about Spencer being a bully and that she took care of it (really, Spencer a bully?). Then Ali’s mom remarks to Ali “She knows things about  that family Ali doesn’t know” and Ali asked curiously “Really, like what?” Ali’s Mom responds that she’s seen what they are capable of and reminds Ali’s that she can never turn her back on a Hastings. -Which is exactly what Ali did after her and Spencer fought again #12). Alison then pretends to go to her room and sneaks back down to go into her moms purse to grab some sleeping pills while her mom was distracted on the phone again- what does Ali need those for? Oh, we’ll find out soon.
Tumblr media
9. That Night: Alison arrives at Spencer's barn and pranks and jumps to the barn doors and scares the girls. Heading inside, she gets a text from Toby to meet her. The girls hang for a bit and gossip about Beyonce’s new song and then Ali throws some shade at Emily for liking it too much (totally not homophobic am i right??). She then spikes the girls drink with her moms medicine to knock them out. Aria drinks first and Spencer jokes to Aria to not drink to much or she’ll tell them all her secrets. The Ali ironically says “Friends shares secrets, that’s what keeps us close. Drink up”.;)  We can only assumed Emily, Hanna and Spencer drank afterwards. After the girls fell asleep, she then meets Toby outside of the barn doors so he can thank her for getting Jenna to leave him alone. Toby then gives her his sweater because she was cold.
Tumblr media
10. After speaking with Toby, Alison leaves Spencer’s backyard to meet up with Ezra. *cringe*.Toby also saw this as well (Although this was never even mentioned by Toby either -plot hole-).Ezra is clearly mad at Ali since she lied to him about her age and then he ends things with Alison in a not so nice way..
Tumblr media
11. *Spencer wakes up and notices Ali was missing, so she waits for her to return.*
Alison then goes to meet Ian at the kissing rock after speaking with Ezra. (flashback moment: (I know you wanna kiss me”). this is where they fake Ian hurting Ali in the video later discovered. Alison then threatens him with his videos to make him leave her alone, Ian then says not tell anyone or else people will get hurt and then ironically “storms” off.
Tumblr media
12. Alison returns to the barn to find Spencer awake waiting for her. Also she didn’t have Toby’s sweater anymore. Where did it go? (plot hole - only to be planted in Toby’s room to frame Toby for Alison’s murder at some point.)
They go inside Spencer’s house and have a fight about Spencer telling Melissa about her and Ian again. It gets heated and Spencer tells Alison she is sick of her games and told her, "You are dead to me already. “ Alison leaves and then Spencer runs after her. (Charlotte and Alison’s mom witness the fight and pays Charlotte off not to say anything - which is weird to pay off your own daughter). Spencer wants to continue the confrontation with Alison and Spencer grabs a shovel acting as if she was going to hit Alison with it and Spencer collapses to the ground in the midst of Alison trying to stop Spencer. Alison then discovers Spencer had been taking ADHD meds (not to mention the sleeping pills mixed in her system from Ali already) and Spencer begs Ali not to tell anyone and she agreed and then sends Spencer back to the barn with the shovel in head and Ali  then waits for her to fall back asleep. (Melissa also sees the fight and sees Spencer walking away with the shovel)
Tumblr media
13. Meanwhile, Ian, Garrett and Jenna all meet up in Alison’s bedroom to look for the videos she stole. Melissa comes in furious looking for Alison in hopes to confront her about Ian and Ali hooking up. Garrett and Jenna leave Melissa and Ian alone to talk it out and go outside in the backyard. Alison comes up to them and then Ali reminds Jenna of the promise she made to her earlier that morning,(”If you ever come back to Rosewood, I’ll bury you”) so Jenna and Ali get into a cat fight, Ali knocks Jenna to the ground and she comes back up with the infamous now burned in Spencer’s fireplace (thanks to Mr. Hastings) field hockey stick in attempt to defend herself. Garrett takes the hockey stick from Jenna and proceeds to attack Ali with it and hits the tree next to Ali, she then falls to the ground next to the tree telling Garrett to hush with her finger. Garrett and Jenna flee the scene, with Jenna thinking Garrett killed or hurt Ali badly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
14. Garrett comes back to check on Ali to see if she’s ok (even though she wasn’t even hurt), but then notices she was talking to someone and proceeds to listen and watch to see who it was. Byron (Aria’s dad) came to speak to her about not exposing his affair to Ella because he didn’t have anymore money to give her to keep her quiet. Alison says "If you don't pay for your mistakes, how do you become a better person?" Byron replies back "You say all these grown-up things, yet you're still a child." Alison smirks and says "You know what I'm capable of." After Garrett makes some noise, Byron starts to leave and Alison threatens him again saying it's his last chance to save himself. Byron turns while he is leaving and replies, "Yes it is," presumably meaning he was going to tell Ella himself (which he obviously doesn’t). Alison then screams to him "You made your bed Mr. Montgomery,"
Tumblr media
15.  While Byron was leaving, Byron turns back when Alison spoke about his bed (LOL) and sees Melissa coming out from Alison’s back door on the phone with someone and says to them, "What do I have to do, call 911 to get your attention?" This is the part where we never found out who she was talking to, but it was important enough to show it to us.
Tumblr media
16. Jason (out of nowhere) came outside to grab a drink of water from the watering hose since he was drunk and high and notices Melissa and presumably Alison talking to each other and calls out Ali’s name and then he sees Charlotte talking with Melissa instead, although this is false and never really confirmed who it actually was. As Alison and Bethany were wearing the same outfit that night, not Charlotte. It wouldn’t make sense for it to be Bethany talking to Melissa since she arrived much later, and Alison never confirmed this information either. So who knows what Jason really saw. So right after seeing them, he passes out on a lawn chair. Sometime after this, Garrett or Jenna, or both, slipped a note to Jason that says "I know what you did", in order to make him believe he hurt Alison, since Jenna thought Garrett had killed her.
Tumblr media
 17.  Alison returns to the barn watching the girls sleep some more and waiting to get another text from A, in order to rule them out. As some time passes, Alison decides to head home thinking she won since A didn’t try to kill her. As she was walking back to her house, she sees her mom obviously angry at her through the window for sneaking out and then all of sudden. BAM!! Charlotte hits Alison over the head with a rock only because she presumed it was Bethany since she was wearing the same outfit. Her mom then proceeds to bury Alison where the gazebo spot would be (pilot episode).  She is screaming to Charlotte, "What have you done?! What have you done?!" Alison attempts to tell her mom she is alive, but cannot move or speak due to temporary paralysis. After Ali’s mom buries her, she then calls Detective Wilden and pays him off to give Charlotte an alibi and sends her back to Radley.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
17. Not long after, Alison dug her way up reaching out of the ground for help/to get free, and who was there to grab her hand? Mrs. Grunwald of course, as she sensed something was wrong with Alison and had to come see what was going on and found her hand reaching for life. She then takes Ali to the hospital to get help, but then Ali runs away.
Tumblr media
18. Meanwhile, Bethany finally shows up at Ali’s backyard, and so does Mona who was finally ready to confront and to kill Ali. But just like Charlotte’s mistake, Mona only saw the back of Bethany and presumed it was Alison and hit her over the head with the same shovel Spencer had earlier. This is when Bethany’s head gets hit so hard that it makes an indentation on her skull and she falls unconscious next to where Ali was previously buried. Mona then flees the scene.
Tumblr media
19. Shortly after, Melissa shows up and sees Alison (obviously presuming it was her without checking) and assumed Spencer killed her based on the fight she witnessed they had earlier that night. She then proceeds to bury Bethany who was still alive in order to protect Spencer (”this whole time”)
Tumblr media
20. And then we come back to the Pilot opening scene where the girls wake up to find Spencer and Ali missing from the barn. Spencer comes back to them and says that she looked everywhere for her and she thinks she heard her scream - which we know was probably from Bethany.
Tumblr media
21. Later on that night, we see Alison walking on a random street after leaving Mrs. Grunwald’s aide. She is dazed and confused, hurt and traumatized by what she just went through. And who to pull up beside her? Mona. (I wonder what Mona’s plan was since she thought she killed her).
Tumblr media
So Mona takes Ali to the Lost Woods Resort and checks in under Vivian Darkbloom’s name for Alison. Mona proceeds to clean Ali up and Ali tells Mona what  happened and about A who tried to kill her. So smart and cunning Mona persuades Ali to fake her death so A could leave her alone for good.
Tumblr media
22. The next day: Mona helps disguise Alison in a Vivian like wig so she can disappear. She then gives Mona tips on how to become popular and then Ali takes a car and leaves showing Mona with a eerier grin as she drives away, thinking she finally won.
Tumblr media
23. Which comes back to the last bit of information involving Alison checking in again on 9/6 at the Lost Woods Resort 5 days later as she already checked in the night she went missing and she left the next day. So this had to be Mona checking in as her again or a plot hole in plotting clues in the storyline of Alison’s disappearance that ended up not making sense.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s crazy how many people Ali saw the night/day she went missing and was almost killed. Like this girl clearly attracts trouble and drama and shit she shouldn’t be into at 15 years old.
Well, I hope you had fun reading this tale of terrors with me (if you made it to the end and didn’t go to the link lol) as much as I had fun putting it altogether and reminiscing on how it took the show 4 seasons to tell Alison’s disappearance story.

Makayla Part Four
Tumblr media
Sam Winchester x Reader
Words: 3673
Part One, Two, Three
Summary: You race to save Makayla and Sam from Montgomery and his fellow vampire creeps. Dean confronts you about the past and Sam finally gets some answers. But will everyone live to be one big happy family?
Notes: Alright, here it is! The final part for the Makayla series (or is it?) I’ve had so much fun writing this series and you guys have seemed to enjoy it. Like The Deal, I made sure the end of this series had a little bit of a cliffhanger so make sure you’re paying attention to future posts! You may see more Makayla sooner than you think.
Special shout out to my amazing beta reader Sarah, @suckmysupernatural . I love her so much and honestly, she’s helped me so much in getting these imagines out for you and she has some absolutely killer writing of her own!

- “Makayla! Sam!” You opened the door to the garage, Dean and Mary both close behind you. A rush of cold air chilled you to the bone. “Dean, is the garage door usually open?” You gulped.
“No.” He pulled his pistol out from his waistband and you did the same. The three of you creeped towards the exit cautiously. Something was wrong. You could feel it. When the coast seemed clear, you ran out, eyes scanning the area for any sign of your daughter.
“Makayla!” You screamed. Nothing. “Sam!” Still, nothing.
“Uh, guys.” Mary motioned to a spot on the cement where a red streak sent your mind into an absolute panic. It was blood.
“Oh my God.” You felt sick. Four years on the run, you’d never felt like this before. You started to hyperventilate and Dean grabbed you by the shoulders, trying to snap you out of it.
“Hey, listen to me.” He ordered, giving you a hard, determined look. “They’re both gone, which means that they were taken together. Sam is with her. He isn’t going to let anybody hurt your little girl, okay?”
“This is all my fault. I should never have dragged you two into this.” You said, trying not to look him in the eye. “They want to hurt me, Dean. Now they have my daughter and they have Sam…”
“We’re going to find them.” Dean went into planning mode, trying to keep his emotions in check. This was personal. Not only had those fanged sons of bitches taken his brother, they took his niece. “We’re going to need to split up. Mom, you go with Cas to find traffic cam footage and find out what direction they headed in. They can’t have gotten far, so my money is that they found some place here in Lebanon to hole up.”
Mary nodded and rushed inside to find the angel.
“And Y/N…” Dean turned to you with fire in his eyes. “You’re with me.”
-
Sam woke up to the sound of quiet whimpering and distant screams. It took a minute for him to remember what was going on. He bolted upwards, but found that his wrists were tied to one of the beams holding up the ceiling. It must have once been some kind of a barn. His eyes scanned the room, trying to adjust to the dark. It wasn’t long before he found the source of the crying.
“Oh God, Makayla!” He called out, her teary eyes flashing up at him from across the room.
“Daddy! You’re okay!” She exclaimed. “I-I thought you weren’t gonna wake up. I thought the bad man k-killed you.” The terrified tears streamed down her face and stung Sam’s heart.
“I’m okay, sweetheart. Everything is going to be okay.” He spoke gently, though the anger was starting to burn through him as his eyes adjusted. She was in a cage. Those bastards put his daughter in a dog kennel. “Did they hurt you?”
“N-not really.” She curled up, seemingly hiding her leg from him. Sam gritted his teeth, but tried to keep his voice calm.
“Makayla, honey, you need to tell me what happened so I can help you.” He pulled against the rope, feeling the rough material rub against his skin. Makayla slowly showed him her leg. Sam gulped. It wasn’t too bad, but the skin of her knee was scraped and bleeding.
“When the bad man hit you, the mean lady tried to pick me up. So I bit her.” She smiled proudly. “She didn’t like that and she pushed me. I hit my knee.” She pointed at the scratches from the cement. “But it doesn’t hurt, Daddy. I’m too tough for that.” Sam chuckled, shaking his head. She was definitely his kid.
“Oh look, Papa Brat’s awake.” A woman sneered, strutting towards him with a smirk. She pulled a knife up to his chin. “Now we can have some fun.”
“Leave my daddy alone!” Makayla yelled, standing up as tall as she could in that kennel.
“Kayla, honey, it’s okay.” Sam stared the vampire down. “Do you really think your little toothpick scares me?” She shrugged.
“No,” She crossed back towards the cage and smiled, “but this might.” She put her hands on either side of the kennel and started shaking it. The metal clanged in Makayla’s ears as she was jolted back and forth, colliding with the sturdy bars of the cage. Her screaming cries pierced her father’s heart.
“Stop it! Leave her alone!” Again, he pulled hard against his restraints, only making the rope burn worse. The vampire laughed.
“You’re lucky Montgomery has bigger plans or else the Rugrat would be an afternoon snack.” Her nostrils flared, staring down at the bloody scrape on Makayla’s knee.
“Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?”
“Oh Samuel…”
“It’s Sam.” She ignored his sass and continued.
“We have other plans for you.” She smiled and Sam looked helplessly at his frightened daughter.
“Then let her go.” He bargained, Makayala stared back at him, her lip trembling.
“No! I won’t leave you, Daddy!” She yelled, trying to put on a brave face. “S-she doesn’t scare me.” The blood sucker slammed her hand down on the cage and Makayla screamed. With an annoyed glare, she looked back up at the younger Winchester.
“See, little Kayla is here to make sure everyone does exactly what they’re supposed to.” Her eyes darted across the room at another vampire emerging from the darkness.
“Sarah, would you be a lamb and grab Mr. Winchester’s phone for me?” The man’s drawl was too sweet and it made Sam’s skin crawl. She obeyed and the new vamp stepped in between Sam and the kennel, blocking his view of his daughter. “My name is Montgomery. I would like to start by saying that I have no grievances with you or that machete-happy brother of yours, Samuel.”
“You do now.” Sam growled. The anger had been boiling inside him and he was ready to bust. Montgomery peaked back at the trapped little girl.
“Ah, yes, the little one. She is an unfortunate byproduct of the tangled mess that Y/N has gotten you into.” Montgomery looked hungrily down at Kayla. She cowered away from him. “Not to worry. As long as you and your brother do exactly what you’re told, Miss Makayla here will be safe and sound with her family.”
The woman came back in, carrying Sam’s cell phone, dialing Dean’s number. She handed Montgomery the phone and whispered something in his ear. Whatever it was made him smile. He put the phone to his ear and Sam could hear Dean’s growling yell on the other line. Montgomery clicked his tongue.
“There’s no need for that kind of language, Dean.” He scolded, earning another string of curse words.
“Where are they, you son-of-a-bitch?” Dean boomed. You jerked your head towards him. You’d been driving for the past hour with nothing to show for it. Dean’s face changed as he listened intently to the vampire’s words. His fingers tightened around the steering wheel. “You’re a sick son of a bitch, you know that?”
“What is it?” You tried to take the phone, but he sent you a death glare. He hung up. “Did he say where they are?” He didn’t answer. Instead, he pulled the impala to the side of the road. “Dean!”
“Yes.”
“Then what is it?”
“He wants me to trade you for Sam.” He said, intensely staring you down. “And believe me, sweetheart, I wouldn’t blink.” You tried not to show how much that stung, but you still winced slightly. “But everything is different now that Kayla is in the picture. That little girl needs her mother. I, of all people, know that. We’ll figure out another way to get them. One where Makayla gets to walk out with both her parents.”
“Dean, if giving  me up is the only way to save them-”
“I already said no.” Dean started to car again and the two of you rode in silence. You pushed your ego aside and gulped.
“Dean, can I ask you something?”
“I’d rather you didn’t.” You ignored his annoyance.
“Why didn’t you tell him?” Your voice was sincere and Dean let out a sigh.
“Because I made you a promise.” His eyes slid from the road to you and you felt shame burning in your cheeks. “He looked for you for years, Y/N. Even when I told him to give up, he kept searching for you. And when you showed up here… I saw that same thing light up in him again. So when the dust settles, you can explain to him why you took off.”
You looked out the window, avoiding his gaze. Dean watched your body stiffen and felt his burning anger towards you grow as he drew his conclusion.
“You’re leaving.”
-
Five Years Ago
You already had three missed calls from Sam. He would have realized you were gone about an hour ago and, having read the note, he knew that you hadn’t been taken. You left. You didn’t even know how long you had been on the road for and your stomach was growling. The bus stopped in a town called Casper, Wyoming and you got off. You slung your duffle bag over your shoulder, weighing down on you despite your lack of personal items. It was the emotional toll that was back breaking.
You missed him, even having only been gone for a short time. You wanted to go back. To write this all off as a lapse of judgement and curl back up in his arms. But eventually, Sam would realize that you weren’t the one. You weren’t Jessica. And you would just end up getting hurt.
You found a fast food joint that was less swamped by the lunch rush and bought yourself a sandwich and a Coke. When you stepped out into the parking lot, the sleek black car had you frozen in place. Dean leaned against the car door, arms cross and eyes boring into you.
“Get in the car.”
“Dean, I can’t-”
“Get in the damn car.” His tone didn’t give you a lot of hope for winning the argument, so you climbed into the front seat.
“Where’s Sam?” You asked cautiously.
“He’s back at the motel trying to get a hold of you and get some answers.” Dean snapped in reply. “But you already knew that.” He didn’t start the car like you expected. He just sat there, staring furiously at you. “A note? Are you serious, Y/N? You’ve been with my brother for two years and all you leave is a ‘I have to leave. Don’t come for me.’?”
“I couldn’t stay, Dean.” You tried to keep your voice level. You were sure of this. You had to be.
“Is this about that shifter? Y/N, Jessica died a long time ago.”
“It’s not just Jessica, Dean. It’s the life Sam was supposed to live. The life you and I can never have.” His shoulders tensed. You had hit a nerve. “Sam deserves that life. He deserves family and happiness and I pray that someday he finds it. But when he does, he’ll know that I can’t be a part of it.”
“So you’re just dumping him before he can dump you, is that it?” Dean scoffed. “Christ, Y/N, this isn’t high school. You’re part of our family. Sam loves you, Y/N.” You brushed away tears as they fell and tried to keep your head up high.
“He won’t. Not when he realizes that I’m not what he wants.” You looked Dean in the eye, waiting for his response.
He knew what this was. This was you protecting yourself from the idea of getting hurt, even if it meant hurting his brother in the process. You were only interested in saving your own skin. So if you wanted to burn this bridge, fine.
“Don’t tell him about this.” You pleaded when he didn’t say anything. “Sam will think this is his fault and he’ll try and find me. Promise that you won’t tell him we talked.”
“Oh you don’t have to worry about that.” Dean reached across you and opened the door. “Now get the hell out of my car.” You nodded silently. “Y/N?”
“What?” Couldn't he see that you felt bad enough about this? Dean spoke through gritted teeth.
“Down the road, when you figure out how stupid this all is and you need us… don’t come back.” He slammed the door behind you and took off, the impala disappearing down the road.
-
Present Day
Montgomery paced in front of Sam mockingly, standing just out of his reach. If he could just stretch his leg out a little further… no. He would just fall flat on his ass. There had to be a way out of this. If he could find something sharp, he could cut the ropes and decapitate the cocky vamp.
“This should be very quick and simple, Sam. Your brother hates Y/N, so I’m sure he’ll have no hesitation to hand her over to me in exchange for your life.” Montgomery said haughtily. “Not that I blame him. I mean, after what she put you through.” He shook his head. “I feel for you, Sam, I really do.”
“Why don’t you shut the hell up?” Sam snapped. He had had enough of this.
“Language, Mr. Winchester, you forget we have a young lady with us.” Montgomery knelt down by the kennel and Kayla hid her face in her hands.
“Stay. Away.” Sam’s entire body was ready to pounce. “What’s your obsession with Y/N, anyway?” If he could keep Montgomery talking, maybe it would buy him time to plan an escape. If anything, it would keep him away from Kayla.
“When we killed Makayla Emerson all those years ago, my wife went to finish off our little witness. Y/N cut off her head and ran.” His fists clenched as his sides. “She started a war that night. A war that ends tonight.”
“About that.” Dean burst through the door, holding you by the hair with a gun jabbed between your shoulder blades.
“Mommy!” Makayla cried. She didn’t understand why Uncle Dean was hurting you.
“Everything is going to be okay, sweetie.” You assured her. Dean tugged your hair, dragging you in the direction of Montgomery.
“Ah, I’m glad we could come to an agreement, Dean.” The vampire gave you a wicked grin, licking his lips. He snapped his fingers and two more blood suckers appeared from the dark, grabbing Dean by each arm.
“What the hell?” Dean exclaimed, trying to break away.
“There’s just been a slight change in plans.” Montgomery smirked. “I made Y/N here a promise that I am more than happy to keep.” He pushed you down to your knees and you let a terrified expression cross your features.
“No.” You gasped. He held his arm over you, prepping a blade to slice his skin and draw blood.
“And to think, I have gathered your whole, twisted family to witness your transformation.” He mused with a disturbing giddiness.
“Well…” You stared up at him, a sly smirk spreading across your lips. “Not quite.”
A loud crashing sound signaled the arrival of Mary and Cas. Dean elbowed one of his captors in the face and broke away, grabbing a pair of machetes from inside his jacket. He tossed one to his brother and Sam quickly freed himself from the rope. Furious, Montgomery lunged at you, but you quickly rolled out of the way, grabbing your own blade from your boot.
Sam and Dean made quick work of the two vamps that had ambushed Dean. Heads rolled towards the door where Mary burst in, clothes splattered with blood and blade swinging in her hand. You battled with Montgomery, finding your footing and slashing at him with your knife. He got a hold of your arm.
“You. Will. Bleed.” He seethed.
“Bite me.” You spat, head butting him hard enough to stun both of you.
Sarah joined the battle, screaming as she jumped onto Dean’s back. While the boys struggled with her, you regained composure, your head still spinning from the impact. Montgomery landed a kick to your stomach, sending you back into the beam Sam had been tied to.
“Mommy!” You barely heard Makayla’s shouts over the sounds of the fight. Her scared voice distracted you long enough for Montgomery to grab you by the color of your shirt, lifting you up in the air.
“Don’t worry about her, Y/N. Once the Winchesters join you in death, I will raise her as my own. She will be a killer. She will be-”
Sam tackled him to the ground before he could finish. Taken by surprise, Montgomery didn’t stand a chance against the taller hunter. Sam’s eyes connected with yours and you knew that he was waiting. He was saving this kill for you.
You stood over the monster that had killed your best friend. The monster that had hunted you for almost a decade. The monster that had changed your life. You didn’t have a final clever quip for him. He didn’t deserve it.
“Makayla… close your eyes.” With one strong, swift motion, the vampire was dead.
-
Dean’s coolness towards you had only grown since the fight. He wouldn’t even look you in the eye. Whatever had happened, Sam could sense it and kept sending questioning glances your way. You held a trembling Makayla in your arms as everyone filed back into the bunker.
“I need a beer.” Dean announced gruffly. You moved to follow, but he shot you a glare. “You’re not going anywhere.” Sensing the tension between you, Mary offered to take Makayla back to your room. Sam looked even more confused.
“Dean, can we not do this now? We’re all tired and covered in vampire guts.”
“You don’t get to just pretend like everything’s fine and disappear again.” Now both Winchesters were staring at you, hurt filling Sam’s eyes.
“What?”
“I haven’t decided on anything, Sam-”
“You’re going to leave!” He yelled, making you flinch. “What about Makayla, huh? You bring her into my life just to take her out?” You were silent. Sam’s jaw dropped. “You want to leave her here?”
“You were right, Sam.” You admitted hopelessly. “I dragged her into our screwed up life and I was making her as screwed up as we are. And I know, I can’t change. But with you, she can have a life. A family. You can finally have the life that I wanted for you. The one I couldn't give you.”
Sam’s anger fell away, replaced by understanding.
“That’s why you left.” He sighed, years of wondering finally coming into focus. “You thought I’d always want something else?”
“Sam, I’m not what you need. I’ve never been what you needed and I’m sure as hell not what that beautiful little girl needs.” Your voice cracked and you pushed back tears. “I love you both too much to try and force my life onto you.”
“You’re her mother.” Dean interjected.
“Which means that I am the most likely person to mess her up.” You exclaimed. You couldn’t see any other way. “You said it yourself, Sam, I’m doing what John did to you.”
“He made the mistake of trying to do it alone.” Sam put his hands on your shoulders. “But you are far from alone.” His eyes softened and you watched them fill with hope. “You’ll both move into the bunker- it’ll be safest here- and we’ll hunt together, but someone will stay here and watch Makayla. We can do this. We can be a family.” He gave you a tearful smile and even Dean felt himself dare to wish.
“Would you be happy? I mean, really happy?” You asked. It’s all you wanted for him and for your daughter. Sam laughed.
“I can’t think of anything that would make me happier, Y/N.” You still looked unsure so he continued. “Say you’ll stay. Say we can be family together. Because I’m not letting you go again.”
You were speechless. All these years, and here he was, telling you what you’d only dreamed about. Sam closed the space between you and pulled you into a kiss, five years of yearning built up into one moment. It was the life he wanted. A life with you.
-
You and Sam made up. You really made up. Which left Dean alone in the kitchen when Makayla wandered out looking for her parents.
“Uncle Dean, where’s mommy and daddy?” She asked. Dean’s eyes went wide.
“Um- they’re- um- well-” He tried to think of something fast. “They’re watching a movie.” She pouted her lips.
“They’re watching without me?”
Dean just panicked.
“It’s an adult movie.” Luckily, his niece was four and didn’t understand innuendos. She accepted his answer and climbed up into the seat beside him. “What are you doing up anyway, kiddo? Did you have another dream about the shadow man?” A big grin spread across her face.
“He doesn’t scare me anymore!” She exclaimed happily. “He said he wants to be my friend and that he’s sorry for scaring me. He didn’t mean to. He’s just shy because he used to be in time-out. He’s not anymore and he wants somebody to play with.” Dean nodded, half listening and half thinking about how he was going to strangle his brother. “He said he’s daddy’s guardian angel, like Uncle Cas is for me. He even showed me his wings!”
“That’s really nice, Kayla.” He stood, knowing that he was going to regret this. “How about you go pick out a movie for us to watch on Netflix and I’ll make popcorn?”
“Really?” She squealed, latching onto his leg. He smiled, unable to resist those big blue eyes. “Thank you Uncle Dean!” She ran off to his room and Dean braced himself for some cheesy princess flick, putting Makayla’s new angel-friend to the back of his mind.

25 Days of FicMas
December 19th prompt: The Magical Adventures of the Santa hat
Word count: 1,581
A Kirkian Christmas Set Up
Sort but cuuuute. Read it, love it, write songs about it. It would have been longer if I didn't feel the strong need for sleep. Remember to drink water and love yourself. Cause I love you. I need you so...now you can't leave me. No returns.
-H❤🖖
No one knew where it came from. The damn thing just showed up a few days before Christmas, and of course Captain James. T Kirk had to wear it. The crew snickered and grinned at the little decoration, “Nice hat sir!” one ensign called out when Jim entered one of the rec rooms with Spock following behind; it was a Tuesday night and Tuesdays were always chess days. Kirk grinned at the young ensign, “It’s in the spirit of the holiday,” he bowed his head a tad letting the ball of the Santa hat sway over his shoulder. You sat in a large comfy chair in the corner with an old fashioned book in your hands, you watched as The Captain and The Commander set up at a table right next to you, “Hey Lieutenant, good read?” Kirk asked casually sending you a kind smile. You shrugged glancing at the front of the book, seeing the title was faded somewhat, “Just some Dickens sir. Like you said the spirit in the holiday and all that,”
Kirk gave you a look, “Jim, (Y/N). Call me Jim when we’re off duty,” he ordered. You rolled your eyes good-naturedly, “of course sir,” you said almost teasingly making Jim groan annoyed. “We’ll get there,” he muttered moving a piece on the chessboard, “Which ghost are you at?” he asked not taking his eyes off of the Commander’s movements. “Present,” you answered absentmindedly as you read; Jim smirked making another move, “Most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom unless the writing be erased,” he quoted like he was reading over your shoulder. Raising a single eyebrow you breathed out a laugh, “I’m impressed sir,” you said honestly and Kirk shrugged. “Gotta love the classics, isn’t that right Mr. Spock?”
The Commander looked up from the game in front of him toward his superior, “Yes Captain. I too enjoy old Earth literature. I find the works of George Orwell and Oscar Wilde fascinating,” he said as he moved a rook to the next level of the board. Jim narrowed his eyes in thought, “I love Tolkien personally,” he murmured. You chuckled and nodded, “I knew it! I totally pegged you as a Lord of The Rings fan. Ginly owes me fifty credits,” you grinned at the prospect. Kirk barked out a laugh, “Well I’m glad I could help you out. Let me know if I can do anything else for you,” he winked. You huffed mildly amused but not exactly surprised; Kirk was a known flirt so you didn’t think anything of it. You certainly didn't notice him check the time.
The conversation lapsed into a comfortable silence until Sulu and Chekov collapsed into the chairs by you to watch the ‘exciting’ game going on between The Captain and Commander. “Nice hat sir,” Sulu complimented flicking the white puffball so it swung and smacked Kirk in the face, the man scrunched up his nose in response. He took off the Santa hat and threw it in Sulu’s face with a huff, he moved another piece on the board calling “Check,”
Sulu pulled the hat from his face and secured it on his head with a snicker, “Checkmate,” Spock announced making Kirk curse under his breath. Spock raised a single eyebrow but otherwise said nothing and began to reset the board. Glancing up from your book you saw that Kirk was whispering lowly to Sulu who was grinning madly, ‘Oh this is going to end badly,’ you thought with a snort. Shifting in your chair so your legs were now over the arm you looked up again when the rec room door swished open. Scotty and Uhura were walking through talking about upgrades for the comms relay, Kirk jerked his head toward the CE smirking. Sulu bounced up and whispered hurriedly into Scotty’s ear, “What are you planning Jim?” Uhura asked dryly walking to Spock’s side, arms crossed over her chest she leaned against her boyfriend. You gave her a little wave in greeting before getting back to Dickens.
Scotty grinned at the little plan Kirk had cooked up and gave Sulu a little salute. Hikaru deposited the Santa hat on Scott’s head and watched him scurry out the door. You didn’t notice Sulu casually get close to your chair before it was too late, the helmsman snatched the aged book from your hands and raced out the rec room doors like a bat out of hell. “Damnit Hikaru!” you shouted floundering in your chair. You flipped out of the thing landing on your hands and knees, jeans getting dirty on the floor and mild stinging on your palms didn’t stop you from chasing the man out the door. Uhura stood there shocked and wide-eyed for a moment, “Okay Jim seriously what have you cooked up!” she scolded. She stopped abruptly noticing Spock hadn’t said a word or did his customary eyebrow raise, “you’re in on it,” she accused looking between the Captain and his second in command. “Let’s just say we know a couple of people who need...a little push,” Jim explained moving a knight on the chessboard. He looked up at Uhura with a cheeky grin and nodded at Pavel who pulled out a PADD with Enterprises schematics. It took a moment for the comms officer to catch on but when she did she couldn’t help but grin, “I can’t believe I’m saying this but damn Kirk you’re a genius,’ she said gracefully plopping down in your vacant chair. Jim grinned and held out his arms in a “Ta-da” motion.

Scotty dashed through the corridors of the Enterprise like his life depended on it; mostly because it did. He poked a bear and now he was running from said bear; that metaphorical bear was the ship’s CMO Leonard McCoy. “Damnit Scotty come back here!” McCoy shouted eyes blazing. Montgomery Scott refused to say that he was afraid of anything but at that moment he practically screamed like a “Wee lass,” as he ran through his lady. Glancing over his shoulder he saw McCoy gaining on him, yelping Scotty picked up the pace hoping to get to the drop-off point in time.
Scotty whooped when he saw Sulu at the end of the corridor running toward him with you hot on his heels. “Drop it, Scotty!” Sulu shouted passing by the man dropping the book he was holding on the floor before continuing like hell itself was after him. Scotty bent down and gently dropped the object he was holding before sprinting past you. Santa hat flying off his head he dove into an empty turbo lift laughing hysterically as the doors closed him in. You skidded to a stop before you tripped over the object Scotty dropped on the floor, panting you picked up the hat and what looked to be a holo frame. Looking down you saw a smiling little girl with a missing front tooth, “I think this belongs to you,” you said holding up the picture. McCoy huffed and picked up your book from the ground, “Dickens?” he asked impressed. You blushed and held out the picture frame, “ I like the classics,” you mumbled nervously. Leonard smirked as you traded items, “My daughter just finished To Kill A Mockingbird,” he said weighing the frame in his hands. You grinned, “I loved that one when I was little,” you said excitedly. “How did she like it?” you couldn’t help but ask. McCoy chuckled and ran a hand through his hair, “She loved it if I could guess by the video message she sent me,”
You were walking back down the corridor with Doctor McCoy when suddenly the lights dimmed and Christmas lights sprung to life lining the walls with holiday cheer. You laughed nervously, “Is it me or are we being set up?” you asked rubbing the back of your neck. Leonard raised an eyebrow, “now darlin’ whatever gave you that idea?” he asked dryly making you giggle. “So this is what he was up to,” you murmur with a shake of your head, “I’m not sure if I’m gonna kill him or…” McCoy trailed off muttering curses under his breath. You bit your lip to keep from smiling, “Well better make the most of it, “ you said and placed the Santa hat on your head. Leonard laughed a wide smile breaking across his face; you couldn’t help but follow suit. Your smile caused Leonard to pause his walking, his heart thudded in his chest and his breath caught. He had to admit he had always thought you were beautiful, smart, funny, and genuinely kind but he never dared to ask you out or even if he should. The divorce was such a messy painful thing he didn’t want to experience something like that again.  You cocked your head to the side curiously, Leonard cleared his throat nervously. “I uh I’m running out of book titles to recommend to Jo, I was wonderin’ if you could help me make a list…” he trailed off clutching the holo frame in his hands tightly. You beamed, “Of course I’ll help! Does she have a favorite genre?” and with that, you were both off again. You and Leonard talked for a good portion of the night, neither minding waking up tired for shift the next day. For the future was bright and full of new stories to tell. Like the one, Joanna McCoy would ask for every Christmases to come: “The Magical Adventures of the Santa Hat,”

Ambush
Pairing: Montgomery Scott x Nicole Scott
Word Count: 1.5k
Summary: Nic and the boys ambush Scotty with some fun
Tag List: @dancing-with-skeletons @selfshipfeelings @heavenshipped @hyperionshipping
A/N: This is my first time writing for Scotty, please be nice
In James’s room, he, his brother and their friend Demora were having a fun time playing Starfleet. Demora was the captain as she sat on top of a stool and gave ‘orders’ to the various stuffed animals Thomas had brought in from his room.
Downstairs in the living room, Hikaru and his husband, Ben, were talking to Nic and Scotty as the four of them finished up some dessert. The Sulu’s we’re giving the couple advice on raising a daughter, something Nic and Scotty were both grateful for. Suddenly Nic started to stand, or at least tried to, and Scotty jumped to help her up.
“Let me take these for you guys,” she said as she leaned down to take the barren plates with only crumbs of vanilla cake left over.
Scotty quickly took the plates from her. “I got these, love, go sit and rest.”
“Can I at least use the bathroom, or do you wanna do that for me too?” she joked, already heading for the stairs.
Hikaru and Ben stood from the couch. “It’s getting late anyways. Can you send Demora down? We’ll need to leave soon.” Hikaru said.
“Of course,” Nic nodded and headed up the stairs. She stopped in the doorway to James’s bedroom. “Demora, your dads said it’s time to go.”
Demora and the boys frowned. “Five more minutes mum?” James asked.
“I’m sorry boy, but it’s getting late.” Nic told them sadly. “She can come over next weekend if her dads are okay with it.”
“Okay,” the kids sighed. Demora stood up and headed for the bedroom door.
“Bye James, bye Tommy,” she waved at them from the doorway. “Bye Mrs. Scott.”
“Bye Demora, have a wonderful night,” Nic told her as she watched the 7 year old run down the stairs.
Nic headed for the bathroom, and when she stepped out into her and Scotty’s room she spotted something on their dresser. She smirked to herself, an idea coming to her.
“Hey boys,” Nic smiled as she stepped into James’s room. The boys smiled up at their mom as she pulled the toy phasers Scotty had made a few months ago from behind her back. “Do you wanna help me mess with your dad?” Their grins matched hers as they nodded and she handed the phasers to them. “Be quiet and follow my lead. We’re gonna ambush him.” She whispered to them. Nic pulled her own fake phaser out of her sweater pocket and crept down the stairs, James and Thomas following behind her quietly.
She was halfway down the stairs when she called out to her husband. “Honey, have they left?”
“They have!” Scotty called to her as he continued to wash the dishes. Nic shushed her sons as the three of them quietly stepped down the stairs and prepared their attack. “They’re taking Demora to see that new kids movie, the one the boys wanna see.” They reached the bottom of the stairs and snuck farther down the hallway that led to the living room. “Maybe we can go take the boys to see it after school–”
Before Scotty could finish his sentence, Nic and their sons rushed from their hiding spot. They pointed the phasers at him and they lit up, a fake pew pew noise emanating from the toys.
“For the Federation!” James shouted.
“Eat phaser, Klingon scum!” Thomas shouted along with him.
Scotty jumped at the sudden ambush but grinned and shook his head when he realized what they were doing. “Get over here you three,” he said, quickly rushing towards them.
“Boys run!” Nic let out a laugh and shot the fake phaser in Scotty’s direction as James and Thomas ran behind the couch. She followed, although much slower in her current condition. The three shot the fake phasers at Scotty as he chased them, and they wound between the couch and coffee table, heading for the hallway that connects to the stairs.
“Gotcha!” Scotty grabbed onto Nic’s waist and held her close as the boys paused at the entrance to the hallway.
“Mum!” They exclaimed.
“Go on without me!” She told them, feigning distress.
They nodded and rushed up the stairs as they left her. Nic laughed as Scotty pulled her until her back was pressed against his chest. He pressed a kiss to her head.
“You’re sneaky,” he mumbled into her hair. “We’re supposed to be a team, you betrayed me!”
“All’s fair in love and war,” she teased. “But what are you gonna do to me? I’m your prisoner now.”
He chuckled and Nic felt it reverberate into her back. She felt her heart flutter and cursed to herself silently; his laugh always had an effect on her. “I have a few ideas,” he teased in response.
Nic couldn’t help the smirk on her face. “I was counting on it. Boys!”
James and Thomas erupted from the hallway with their phasers and foam dart guns that Kirk had gotten them to make up for taking their dad on the five year mission. While the fake phasers were harmless toys the boys used to play Starfleet, the foam darts became the bane of Scotty’s existence as they never failed to leave welts wherever the darts hit. The boys ran out with black marker on their cheeks and the best war cries they could muster as they fired darts at their father. As quickly as they appeared, the boys ran back to the stairs in a retreat.
“Oh now ye’ve done it,” Scotty said, taking the phaser from Nic’s hand and chasing the boys up the stairs.
She stood there unable to control her laughter as she watched her husband run after their sons. “Don’t worry boys, backup is coming!” She called between fits of laughter. She reached over and grabbed the toy phaser Scotty kept hidden behind the couch cushions for ambushes like these. Nic followed up the stairs as quickly as she could.
Two hours had gone by and the boys were still insisting on playing Starfleet. Nic bowed out of the game after a half hour, unable to keep up with the boys and Scotty. She had fun watching the boys run through the house while Scotty chased them. It was the best way to tire out them and her husband.
Scotty hid in the hallway with his back against the wall, phaser in hand. The boys had hidden behind the couch with the dart guns and it was currently a stand off. Scotty peaked past the corner and didn’t see the boys with their heads poked up. They must be waiting for him to strike first.
“Alright boys, ye’ve won! I surrender,” Scotty told them. He slowly crept into the living room, putting his hands up in a fake surrender. When they didn’t respond, Scotty gripped the phaser a little tighter. He quietly stepped over to the couch, and when he looked at the back of it he was caught by surprise. Thomas and James sat against the back of the couch, leaning against each other asleep. Apparently the standoff lasted longer than he thought it had. Scotty gently took the dart guns from their hands and put them on the couch along with the phaser.
He let out a groan as he picked up both of his sons and carried them upstairs. Neither of them woke up as he placed them in their beds. As soon as Scotty stepped into the hallway, he stretched his back out and let out a groan. Those boys weren’t as small as they used to be. Once he was done stretching, Scotty headed to the bedroom he and Nic shared. She sat in bed already in her pajamas, reading something on her tablet. Tearing her eyes away from the news article she had been reading, Nic smiled up at him as he grabbed a shirt to change into. Scotty silently changed into his night clothes before pulling back the covers and falling into bed beside her.
“The boys are in bed,” he told her quietly.
“An hour earlier than normal. I’m impressed. They really tired themselves out,” she hummed softly and went back to reading her article.
Scotty stifled a yawn. “They tired me out too. I’m not as young as I used to be.”
Nic laughed softly. “Let’s hope our daughter isn’t as much of a handful as her brothers.”
He smiled and put a hand on her stomach. “She’ll be a wee angel, I can already tell.”
“We’ll find out soon. Five weeks until she’s due and then we’ll be outnumbered.” Nic opened a novel she had saved on her tablet. “I was thinking we should take the boys–” when she looked over at Scotty to tell him her idea, she chuckled. He had fallen asleep so quickly. “We can talk about it in the morning,” she whispered. Nic reached over and dimmed the light of her bedside lamp and began to read her novel while her husband snored softly beside her.

EIGHTY SIX - MY WORST FEAR
LEGACY: A Tony Stark Daughter Story
MASTERLIST
< previous
Word Count: 2,600ish
Summary: Bailey’s worst fear begins to come true.
Tumblr media
The next few weeks were full of talking to my guidance counselor at Columbia, Tony’s protective tendencies, Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping, more of Tony’s protective tendencies, reading up on my majors and deciding which routes that I wanted to take with them, avoiding the press, getting use to living on my own once again, and, of course, even more of Tony’s protective tendencies. What do I mean by protective tendencies? I mean non-stop calls and texts, reminders from SARAH (sometimes even FRIDAY), Spider-Man continually swinging past my windows, and random, out-of-the-blue visits. It was nice, but it was a bit suffocating at times. For his sake, I agreed to a lunch date with him once a week and every Sunday we would have family dinner at the penthouse. Even though the family dinner usually turned into Tony and I eating in his lab as he showed off the progress he had made with his projects, it was still nice and I could feel that he enjoyed every minute of it. Pepper would sometimes work on paper work on a desk set aside for her in the lab or enjoy the time away from Tony, she really needed it some days. As much as Tony could annoy me, I knew that she got his annoying tendencies worse. I, honestly, don’t know how she does it. That man is a handful and that woman is a saint for willingly putting up with everything.
And for a saint, Pepper was amazingly easy to Christmas shop for. Well, it wasn’t exactly shopping. I came up with the idea to gift her with official adoption papers so that she is officially my mother. I didn’t mentioned it to Tony and I wasn’t planning on it. It might as well be a present for him too because, what do you get the man who has everything? As I was wondering what to get him, I had just finished picking up the official papers for Pepper and was on my way back to my apartment. I loved the city, especially in the winter. It was beautiful. I fixed my beanie, zipped up my coat, and made sure that the papers were safely tucked away in my backpack before I walked out of the building and onto the snowy sidewalk. I was about half way to my apartment when a car pulled up beside me and the window rolled down just enough for a man to speak.
“Get in the car or I will kill the next ten civilians that walk pass.” The man's voice was familiar, causing me to instantly stop in my tracks.
I turned towards the black car to see the all windows rolled up and a door opened and waiting for me. I was terrified. So terrified, that I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to get out of this one. I slowly slid into the car and squeezed my eyes shut, fearing that who I thought was in the seat next to me was actually there.
“Oh, Bailey,” the man said, “sweetheart, don’t be scared.” He caressed my cheek as he spoke, causing me to flinch. “I’m just here to check on you.”
“Why?” My voice was quiet and I was obviously scared. I still kept my eyes closed, praying that this was just my mind playing tricks on me.
“You look very healthy. Much better than the last time I was with you. And your powers, they’re stronger. I’m glad our little mind games didn’t mess with them.”
“What mind games?”
“Don’t you remember? All those nightmares that I was in. We found a way into your brain and let’s just say that I had a little too much fun with it.”
“This isn’t real. This isn’t real. This cannot be real,” I kept repeating to myself. “What do you want?” My voice was still quiet as a spoke out loud, failing me when I needed it the most.
“I just want to make sure that you’re ready.”
“Ready for what?”
“Ready to come back, to continue our work.”
“Never.” The man grabbed my face, forcing me to face him. The sudden movement caused me to open my eyes. My fear was true and Dr. Montgomery was sitting beside me, holding onto my face.
“You will come or your whole family will die. We have eyes and ears everywhere, ready to strike on my signal. Even as we speak.” Tears began to stream down my face. “Stark, Potts, Hogan, Rhodes, Parker, and even that android, Vision. They will all be gone, dead, if you don’t come with me.”
My mind raced as worry and fear laced my whole being. I knew he was serious. But I had to give myself time, to either figure out a way out of this or to say goodbye to my family. I took a deep breath as I came to my conclusion.
“I will come with you,” I began. His face lit up and excitement ran through him, he knew he had won. “But not until after Christmas. Let me say goodbye and then I’m all yours.”
“You don’t get—“
“After Christmas and I won’t put up a fight. I will willingly comply, do whatever you need… Just give me until then.”
He took a moment to think about it before replying. “You have until the 26th. That gives you almost a week. I’ll let you know the details of when and where to met.”
“Understood.”
“If you’re late or if you try to run before then, your family is the price you pay.”
“Understood.” He leaned towards me and planted a kissed on the side of my face.
“This is going to be so much fun, sweetheart,” he whispered. “I’ll see you soon.”
As soon as those words left his mouth, I rushed out of the car. Looking around frantically, I realized that Dr. M had had us driven to my apartment building. I ran to the elevator, holding in all of my emotions the best I could. Once the elevator doors opened, I couldn’t get into my apartment fast enough. I slammed the door shut and leaned up against it, slowly sliding down it as I tried to catch my breath and stop the panic that was bubbling up from inside.
“Miss,” SARAH started, “it seems that you are beginning to panic. I have informed Mr. Stark.”
“No…” I breathed out. “Please… don’t—”
“Bailey!” I heard Tony’s panicked voice over the speakers in my apartment. “What’s wrong? I’m on my way.”
“No…” I struggled to get out. “I’m fine…”
“You don’t sound fine, hun… I’m almost there. Just hang on.”
What was I going to say to him? I couldn’t say anything or I would lose all of the people I care about and be forced to go with Dr. M anyway. I slowly tried to stand up, but my legs failed me so I began crawling over to the couch. I had made it over to it but not onto it when Tony burst through the door.
“I’m here, sweetheart!” He said, running over to my side. I whimpered at the nickname, trying to keep myself together. “I’m right here.” He wrapped his arms around me and held me close to his chest. I began to sob. “Shh… it’s okay… I’m right here.”
I wrapped my arms around him, holding him tight. I needed to hold him close, knowing that it could possibly be one of the last times I would ever be able do so. Tony didn’t ask questions while I sobbed into his chest. I knew he wanted to but he also wanted to wait until I had calmed down. Which took me a while. By the time I had stopped crying, I could barely keep my eyes open and Tony had to carry me to bed. He set me carefully down before he pulled the blankets over me. He pulled a chair up to my bedside and held my hand as I slept. He called Pepper once he was sure that I was sound asleep.
“Hey, Tony,” Pepper answered, “what’s up?”
“I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be coming home tonight,” he said quietly into the phone as he gently rubbed his thumb over the top of my hand. “I’m going to be staying at B’s.”
“Why? What happened?”
“I really don’t know… I was working on some paperwork when SARAH informed me that she was having a panic attack. When I got to her place… Pep, it wasn’t good. She was struggling to breathe, once I got to her she started crying, and she wouldn’t talk… Something happened, I don’t know what it was, and I’m worried.”
“How’s she doing right now?”
“She practically passed out in my arms after crying so much. I’m currently watching her sleep in her bed… Pep, what am I going to do?”
“I’m going to cancel my last few meetings and I’ll be over there with dinner soon. Honey, we’re going to figure it out. She’ll be honest with us. It probably wasn’t anything big. She was probably just triggered by something.”
“You’re right… Okay, thanks honey. I love you.”
“I love you too. I’ll be there soon,” she said before hanging up.
Pepper arrived at the apartment with food about two hours later, and I still hadn’t woken up. I was exhausted and terrified, sleep was a welcome friend. And, much to my surprise, my sleep wasn’t filled with the horrors of my life. Pepper let herself into the apartment and began to get dinner situated. Tony heard her and quickly went to the kitchen to meet her.
“Hey,” Tony greeted before giving her a kiss.
“Hey,” Pepper replied. “Anything changed?”
Tony shook his head. “No. She hasn’t woken up yet.”
“How about you gently wake her and tell her that dinner is ready?”
“Okay.”
Tony slowly made his way back to my bedroom. He stood there, watching me for a few more minutes, before sitting on my bed to wake me up.
“Bailey,” he said as he gently shook my shoulder. “Time to wake up. Pepper brought dinner.” I groaned as I stretched out and opened my eyes. “Hey there, kid.”
“Hi,” I sleepily got out. “How long was I out?” I pushed myself up and leaned back against the headboard.
“A few hours. But that’s okay. You obviously needed it.” He stood up, throwing the blankets off of me as he did. “Now, come on, dinner is waiting.” He held out his hand toward me.
I gave a small chuckle as I set my hand in his. He pulled me up and led us to the kitchen. Pepper was at the island, plates already set out with lasagna on them. She was cutting the garlic bread when we entered.
“Hey sweetheart,” she greeted with a warm smile. I flinched, causing Tony to glance at me worryingly before looking back at Pepper. Who was still smiling, though her worry shown through her eyes. “Ready for dinner?”
“Yeah,” I answered as I slipped onto a bar stool. “I didn’t have lunch so I’m starving.”
“I’m going to need to set up reminders for you to eat,” Tony said.
“If I have to have reminders, then you do too.” I poked his arm as I replied.
As we ate, we talked about Stark Industries. I was okay talking about anything that didn’t have to do with what happened earlier that day. When dinner was over, Tony and Pepper moved over to the couch as I did the dishes. I could feel their uneasiness and their want to ask me what caused my panic. I needed to make up an excuse, and fast.
Tumblr media
“Just ask,” I spoke up, not being able to take the silence and their feelings anymore. “I know you both want to.”
“Okay then, B,” Tony said, putting his arm over the edge of the couch and turning around. “What happened?”
“I was walking home from doing some Christmas shopping and I just…” I kept my eyes on the dishes in the sink that I was working on cleaning. “I just saw someone that looked like someone I had seen from HYDRA.” So that wasn’t exactly a lie. “I got scared. I realize now that it was stupid and that they weren’t HYDRA.” I set the final dish on the drying rack and grabbed a rag to wipe off my hands. I turned around and leaned back against the counter. “I over reacted. I’m sorry that I scared you.”
I finally looked at Tony. He didn’t believe me. He knew I was hiding something but there was absolutely no way that I could tell him the truth. The chance of him doing something rash and me losing everyone was too great and I wasn’t about to let him risk his life. Not for me. Not again.
“Dad, I know what you’re thinking without even having to read your mind. Why don’t you believe me?”
He stood up and began to make his way around the couch to me. “Because you were doing so good. At least I thought you were… What, or even who, could have possibly gotten that kind of reaction out of you?” He reached me and grabbed my hands. “I need you to be honest with me, sweet—“ I inhaled loudly as he began to say the nickname, not helping my case at all. “Honey, what really happened today?”
“I am being honest with you.” I harshly pulled my hands out of his grip. “Don’t you trust me?”
“I do, B, I really do. But I can also tell when something is up… You’re trying to protect us from something, what is it?” He needed to stop pressing or this wasn’t going to end well.
I shook my head. “I’m not! I over reacted, just drop it! Please.”
“Bailey,” Pepper spoke up from her spot on the couch. “We’re just worried.”
“I know you guys are. But, please, drop it. It was nothing.” If they weren’t going to drop this, then I was going to have to force them to. And I really didn’t want to have to do that. I quickly grabbed one of Tony’s hands. “I was overthinking. My mind got the best of me, please believe me. I hate it when you don’t… Don’t you trust me?” I forced tears into my eyes, trying to get him to let this all go before I had to enter theirs minds and force them to.
“Honey,” he embraced me quickly. “I do trust you. I just worry. You know me. I think of the worst possible scenarios… If it was really nothing, I will drop it. I’m sorry for making you upset. I just hate seeing you like that kiddo.”
“I know,” I whispered into his neck. “I’m sorry too.”
After the effort it took to get him to stand down, I was surprised at how willing him and Pepper were to leave an hour or so later. Once they had left and I knew that they were on the road back to their penthouse, I went into my office and began recoding SARAH. If I was going to sneak away, I needed her not to snitch on me as soon as I left. I stopped her from telling Tony any information on my health and scheduled that 12 hours after I had left she could inform Tony. I filmed a video explaining what was going on and scheduled to have it sent to Tony after I had left.

Desiderium
An ardent desire or longing, especially a feeling of loss or grief for something lost.
 A music Playlist about a dead girl and her broken hearted other half searching desperately and fruitlessly for her missing lover.
Creator’s Explanation:
 I just wanted to explore how it would have felt from Chloe’s perspective the very emotions she would be cycling through while looking for Rachel Amber. All the way from remembering promises and exact memories down to regretting and questioning the legitimacy of their whole relationship. But feel free to experience this dumpster fire called Amberprice.
FULL PLAYLIST
1) Yellow by Coldplay
Your skin
Oh yeah, your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
You know
You know I love you so
You know I love you so
2) Feeling Whitney by Post Malone
And I've been looking for someone to put up with my bullshit
I can't even leave my bedroom so I keep pouring
And I ain't seen a light of day since, well, that's not important
It's been long
3) How by Daughter
How long must I wait for you
Undone in the evening?
How long must I wait for you
To become what I need?
4) YEAH RIGHT by Joji
Yeah, right, yeah, right
Yeah, I bet you won't cry
Yeah, I bet you won't try
But you know I don't mind
But you know I don't mind
5) Mr Loverman by Ricky Montgomery
The ways in which you talk to me
Have me wishin' I were gone
The ways that you say my name
Have me runnin' on and on
6) No Below by Speedy Oritz
And though I was sad, I was better off just being dead
Better off just being dead, without my old friend
True, I once said, I was better off just being dead
But I didn't know you yet
7) Forget Her by Girl in Red
I spend all my days
Trying to forget her face
She's so hard to erase
I don't think she can be replaced
She stole my heart and ran away
Left me with some things to say
I don't understand
8) We Might Be Dead By Tomorrow by Soko
And I can tell
That you didn't had
To face your mother
Losing her lover
Without saying goodbye, Without saying goodbye,
'Cause she didn't had time.
9) Saturn by Sleeping At Last
I couldn't help but ask
For you to say it all again
I tried to write it down
But I could never find a pen
I'd give anything to hear
You say it one more time
That the universe was made
Just to be seen by my eyes
10) Otherside by Perfume Genius
Why can't you miss me
From the Otherside?
11) Worldstar Money (Interlude) by Joji
I looked at you and said, oh-oh-oh
Don't hate me, am I crazy?
So tenderly you watch me burn, you watch me burn, oh
So tell me, am I crazy?
12) The End by Daughter
You wait to find that I'm still here
And you've been waiting for the light to shine
Wake up, wake up, wake up

Nothing's gonna hurt you baby

I'll tear the night
Keep it from you
18) My Tears Are Becoming a Sea by M83
I'm slowly drifting to you
The stars and the planets
Are calling me
19) I'll Still Have Me by Cyn
Maybe in another life
Everything worked out alright
And things that made this harder passed us by
But there's no bad dream to wake up from
Know I got it bad when it's the morning
And you're all that's on my mind
20) Butterflys Repose by Zabawa
The sun's already set, now
Won't you go to sleep, now?
I'll see you in your dreams
'Cause I'm right here
Darlin', I'm right here
21) Dead-Bird by McCafferty
And I know just what it means
It means she's just like her mom
She'll end up lonely and sad
She'll end up alone with rings
With rings in her mouth
With guns in her house
With holes in her heart
22) Moving Pictures Silent Films by Great Lake Swimmers
Where have you been?
And what have you done?
I've been under the ground
Reading prayers from this old book I found
Under the ground
Saving it up
And spending it all
On moving pictures
Silent films
23) Juliet by Royal Wood
You can be my one if you wanna go
You can be my Juliet then
And we can drift asleep in a lover's pose
But never go away
No poison here, we're safe
24) Let My Love Weigh You Down by Early Winters
I dreamed that we had awakened
By a clear pool of still water
Nothing of ours had been taken in flight
I dreamed our bodies unbroken
Mended upon the still waters
Drifting upon what is spoken at night
25) You Broke My Heart Again by Teqkoi, Aiko
I think you broke my heart again
Please don't leave, and take my hand
Drowning inside these walls of fear
Take my hand, and stay with me my dear

I know you so well
I know you
I mean, I can do anything that he can
Without you

The thing about things is that they can start meaning things
Nobody actually said
And if he couldn't make something mean something for me
I had to make up what it meant
28) Where's My Love SYML
Cold sheets, oh, where's my love?
I am searching high, I'm searching low in the night
Ooh, does she know that we bleed the same?
Ooh, don't wanna cry but I break that way
29) I Love You by Billie Eilish
It's not true
Tell me I've been lied to
Cryin' isn't like you
What the hell did I do?
Never been the type to
Let someone see right through
30) Discoloration by Dawn Golden
I saw your face reflected on the resonant screen
And I watched your mouth moving like a tired machine
Trying to plead with me
Trying to swallow me whole.
31) Haze by Amber Run
My friends have all left me,
Away on the breeze.
There's a crushing silence where love's a disease.
Like a fever it grips me,
Like a lover it holds.
Scared of getting older,
Scared of dying alone.
I'm in a blue haze.
A blue haze.
32) ilomilo by Billie Eilish
I tried not to upset you
Let you rescue me the day I met you
I just wanted to protect you
But now I'll never get to
33) Mice by Billie Marten
Watch me as I go and separate the ones that I am made to love and hate
And slowly counting down my body weight
I'm tired
I'm tired
34) Lighthouse by Patrick Watson
Cause I know
I've seen you before
Won't you shine
A little light
On us now
35) 9th of October by Tove Lo
9th of October, I always remember
No bad things had happened then
Honestly, you never thought you'd fall for me
But somehow you got pulled in
Livin' so fast, makin' memories last
'Til our hearts couldn't hold no more
Hear you explodin' while I am implodin'
Now, how did we let this go?
36) Small Hands by Keaton Henson
Miss you terribly already,
Miss the space between your eyelids,
Where I'd stare through awkward sentences
And avoid through awkward silence
Miss your teeth when they chatter,
When we smoked out in my garden
When we couldn't sleep for all the heat,
Soft talk began to harden.
37) You by Keaton Henson
If you must leave,
Leave as though fire burns under your feet
If you must speak,
Speak every word as though it were unique
If you must die, sweetheart
Die knowing your life was my life's best part
If you must die,
Remember your life
37) Milk Teeth by Keaton Henson
Don't think of me like that
Just picture me leaving and not coming back
I'm sat where we sat
Just picking the labels
And lighting a match
38) If I'm To Die by Keaton Henson
If I'm to die,
Before I reach you,
Please know I meant to love you,
Till I did.

Note
hi who are most of the people in the relationship charts you posted on insta a while ago?
Like I know you’ve posted some stuff about Nate and Zoe and even Venus but I’m really curious about everyone else!
I wanna preface this by thanking you for your patience since it took me forever to reply to this. I really appreciate it! <3
Anyways, those charts are divided into two parts — the first is Nate’s friend group (which I call the Zodiacs) and the second is the Celestial Council. The Zodiacs are central-focus characters while the Council’s role is more on the back burner.
I’ll talk about the characters individually under the cut, but if you’re not into summaries I’ll include a song that reminds me of each character since I think music is a fantastic personality descriptor:
ZODIACS
NATE SAGITTARIUS:  Nate is an overly ambitious teenage boy who becomes a Regulator at the Venus Villas after discovering that he’s half elf. I’m sure you know the rest of this rant by now.
“Genius Next Door” — Regina Spektor
ZOE SAGITTARIUS:  Nate’s punk-rock older sister, who is much cooler than he’ll ever be. Zoe is a dryad that was adopted by Jupiter Sagittarius shortly after she had woken up in a Bronx alleyway with a bad case of amnesia. Nowadays, she works as a Regulator at the Venus Villas and wields a talking snake shaped dagger named Sabik.
“OHFR?” — Rico Nasty
DANIEL ATKINS: As Head Regulator, Daniel Atkins is known to keep things in line. Daniel is an aloof ghost from the 1910s who hasn't matured much since his death. He’s notoriously bad with social cues and always says whatever he’s thinking, which Nate doesn’t seem to mind. The two of them quickly become best friends, much to Zoe’s dismay.
“Nobody” — Mitski
BRENDA ANTARES: With her competitive nature and innate sparing abilities, Brenda was the obvious choice for Mars’ Lieutenant. When she’s not assisting Mars, Brenda volunteers as a part-time cook at the Venus Villas. Brenda is a sweetheart who befriends anyone she can, which is ironic considering the fact that she shares a body with a temperamental demon named Aries.
“What’s Up Danger” — Blackway & Black Caviar
ANASTASIA CHERNOV: Not much is known about Anastasia’s past and she’d like to keep it that way, thank you very much. Anastasia Chernov is head general of Via’s Army and a recurring antagonist throughout the series. She is a blind vampire who, despite her overall brooding nature, loves cutesy magical girl animes and Vocaloids.
“Oh Ana” — Mother Mother
MAYBELLE SAVURI: Real hot girl shhh! Maybelle Savuri is a top-charting singer and model from the monster world who just so happens to be Venus’ daughter too. She’s a super rich vampire with shapeshifting powers, the cutest outfits, and confidence for days — what else could you possibly want?
“Girls in the Hood” — Megan Thee Stallion
LEO JEMBER: Resident golden boy and honorary funnyman, Leo Jember is one of the first friends Nate makes at the Villas. Leo is a (literal) angel who works the front desk at the Venus Villas, and spends his free time messing with his best friend Scorpius Singh. Leo is extremely popular with the workers at the Villas but he also has the tendency to push Venus’ buttons for fun.
“C7osure.” — Lil Nas X
SCORPIUS SINGH: The only Zodiac more secretive than Anastasia is Scorpius. Scorpius Singh is a witch cursed to kill everything he touches. Nowadays, his hands are constantly bandaged and he tends to keep his distance from other people. Around the Villas, Scorpius is known for his intellect and snippy attitude.
“Goodbye Mr A” — The Hoosiers
POLLY DE DIOS: Just like her father, Polly de Dios is a skilled inventor who helps with repairs around the Villas. Polly and her twin brother, Cas, are a pair of hyper-intelligent androids built by Mercury de Dios. Unlike her lax brother, Polly is a rule-abiding teenager with a love for list making and hard work.
“B.I.T.C.H” — Megan Thee Stallion
ALEX MILTON: Come through, daddy issues! Alex Milton is a blunt satyr who spends his free time committing petty crime. His tendency to use his powers in the mortal world often winds Alex in trouble with the Venus Villas. Despite his unpleasant nature, Alex is both humorous and intelligent… maybe that’s the reason Nate had a slight crush on him when they first met.
“Rich & Sad” — Post Malone
DAX LEE: Dax is good friends with Leo and Scorpius which, by default, makes him Nate’s friend as well. Dax Lee is a deaf merman who has the power to mind control other people whenever he sings. And while Dax may not be the smartest member of the Zodiacs, he certainly is the friendliest!
“This December” — Rick Montgomery
JEONG NA-RI: As a powerful psychic, Jeong Na-Ri is a force to be reckoned with. But after Nate accidentally frees her from a hundred-year imprisonment, Na-Ri quickly learns that the world she came back to is extremely different from the one that she left behind. Not only that but, with her immortal dad still around, Na-Ri now has a new step-mom and an older brother named Dax.
“Cartoons” — Louie Zong
CELESTIALS
**SOL JEMAL: As head of the Celestial Council, Sol plays a particularly important role in the monster world. Sol Jemal is an angel that has been around since the beginning of time so she’s pretty much seen it all by now. Her distant nature has caused an aura of mystery to form around her, but her sons Deneb and Leo reason that she’s not as omnipotent as she seems and, if anything, she’s just a bit uptight.
“YAH.” — Kendrick Lamar
MOON ATKINS: It doesn’t matter that they’re twins, Moon would like to make it perfectly clear that he is Sol’ older brother. (By five whole minutes!) While Sol is known for being the bringer of life, Moon Atkins was assigned the role of ruling over the dead. Because of this, Moon’s presence is seen as a bad omen in the monster world. However, Moon is quite the gentleman with an extreme interest in birds, particularly ravens.
“Lethargy″ — Bastille
MERCURY DE DIOS: The rest of the Council has the tendency to look over Mercury’s existence. Mercury de Dios is a gnome with a knack for inventing. He’s a genius when it comes to innovation, but has trouble when it comes to socializing with other people, so he avoids it completely by shutting himself in his workshop all day. When he’s not inventing, Mercury is either spending time with his children or trailing behind Venus and Mars around the Villas.
“Touch-Tone Telephone” — Lemon Demon
VENUS GALILEI: As both his boss and godmother, Venus spends a lot of time with Nate. Which is unfortunate for him, because while many other adults in the monster world think Nate is old enough to fight against Via’s Army, Venus adamantly believes that he is too young to get involved. Still, despite their many disagreements, the two care very deeply for each other.
“Glamorous”  — Fergie
TERRA GALILEI: Nate’s not the only one with an adopted dryad sister. Terra Galilei is Venus’ younger sister who is head of human relations — meaning that she keeps in touch with the very few humans who know of the monster world. Unlike her sister, Terra is a loud party animal with a love for sports.
“Lightning” — Rico Nasty
MARS HUYGENS:  Oh boy. Where to begin with Mars? Mars Huygens is a cyclops widely known in the monster world for his loudmouth and love of violence. He is one of the three Celestials who work at the Venus Villas — the other two being his spouses Venus and Mercury — much to the Regulators’ dismay. Despite his reputation, Mars gets along swimmingly with Brenda and, despite how often he teases the kid, has a bit of a soft spot for Nate as well.
“PRIDE.” — Kendrick Lamar
JUPITER SAGITTARIUS: Everyone in the monster world knows Jupiter as the elf who had a child with a human. Jupiter Sagittarius is Nate and Zoe’s music loving father who never really grew up. Jupiter supports his children in their endeavors, however he’s not quite qualified for his own responsibilities. Despite his scatter-mindedness, Jupiter puts a genuine effort into everything he does which, at the very least, is why his peers tend to like him so much.
“8TEEN” — Khalid
SATURN HAMILTON: With the exception of Mercury and Moon, no one in the Celestial Council really likes Saturn all that much. Saturn Hamilton is a workaholic satyr who is obsessed with the human world and its history. More often than not, Saturn finds himself butting heads with his eldest son, Alex, despite Saturn’s attempts to salvage their relationship as of late.
“Cemetery” — COIN
URI HERSCHEL: Uri is a man of few words… mostly because he’s a selective mute. Uri Herschel is an ice giant known for his eccentric nature — whether it be his odd choice of clothes or his peculiar love of taxidermy.
“Anklebiters” — Paramore
LEE NEPTUNE: Guess it’s time to release the kraken. Lee Neptune is a picture perfect beach dweller — a handsome surfer dude who plays the ukulele and has the ability to shapeshift into the legendary kraken. He may not be the smartest member of the Celestial Council, but he certainly is charming.
“Drunk Walk Home” — Mitski
PLUTO TOMBAUGH:  While he’s technically no longer a part of the Council, Pluto will always have an honorary spot in these lists. Pluto Tombaugh is a laid-back and likeable dwarf who is obsessed with the animals that reside in the monster world — which he collects and studies in his downtime.
“Jawbreaker” — Injury Reserve ft. Rico Nasty & Pro Teens
**The surname Jemal is just a placeholder and will most likely change down the line.

With baseball quickly approaching (for who knows how long), time for a pandemic installment of Classic Movies Everyone’s Seen But Me!
Summertime (1955)
David Lean works small (for him) in terms of both running time and vistas. He does a wonderful job with Venice, making the city practically a character in its own right -- and as someone who knows Venice well and loves it, I only caught Lean cheating on the geography a couple of times.
The real star isn’t the setting but Katherine Hepburn. Hepburn plays Jane Hudson, a middle-aged secretary from Akron, Ohio, who claims to have given up on romance. She hasn’t, of course, but it appears as if romance has given up on her -- Jane is a third wheel for the movie’s other couples and feels left out of even men on the make’s appraisals, spending the early part of the movie bonding with a street kid and the widow who runs her pensione. I’d write that it’s the kind of part that wasn’t written for actresses in the 1950s, but it’s the kind of part that isn’t written for actresses today. Hepburn inhabits the character beautifully, letting you see Jane’s hesitation and heartbreak in piercing scenes that sometimes rely entirely on body language, and Lean gives her the space to work, even when it’s an uncomfortable experience. A near-flawless performance.
The love story feels a little slight at first, but the ambiguity about what you should feel is intriguing. (Apparently this was even more the case in The Time of the Cuckoo, the play upon which Summertime was based.) Extra points for the Code-evading shot that tells us two characters have consummated their relationship. It’s only slightly subtler than the famous conclusion of North by Northwest.
Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941)
Claude Rains has a marvelous time as the title character, an unruffled bureaucrat in charge of the afterlife who has to fix the case of a boxer taken up to Heaven a bit too soon. (The film was remade in the 70s with Warren Beatty and called Heaven Can Wait, the name used in its first incarnation as a play.) Rains is terrific, but the rest of the movie is pretty forgettable: Robert Montgomery is genial but not particularly memorable as prizefighter Joe Pendleton, and the plot logic breaks down completely in the endgame.
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)
Another Rains vehicle, in he stars as the evil Prince John, scheming brother of Richard the Lionhearted and foe of Robin Hood, played (of course) by Errol Flynn. Rains somehow retains his dignity despite a horrific wig and some astonishing costumes -- there’s one black and silver getup whose shoes have to be seen to be believed.
But all the characters are wearing ridiculous things all the time, shown off via the movie’s thoroughly saturated palette. There are men-at-arms in purple and pink motley, the merry men’s green tights, Flynn’s honest-to-goodness bedazzled emerald top, a lady-in-waiting’s Fancy Shriner fez, and we haven’t even discussed the get-ups Olivia de Havilland sports. The costume designer whizzes past All Too Much before the first reel’s over and just keeps going. And the dialogue keeps up with the costumes. Robin Hood may be the campiest movie I’ve ever seen -- it makes The Birdcage look like Shoah.
Flynn is capable with a sword and performs his stunts with swashes properly buckling, but man oh man could he not act. He has two basic expressions: fighting and making merry, and looks a little lost when the story requires him to investigate whether a situation requires choosing between the two.
Fortunately that doesn’t happen too often, and you’ll have fun anyway. This is the template for about a billion adventure stories made since then, and it’s entertaining even when you’re not elbowing the other person on the couch to point out what was waiting in Claude Rains’s dressing room this time. Think of it as a live-action cartoon and enjoy the ride.
Love in the Afternoon (1957)
Audrey Hepburn is the innocent, cello-playing daughter of a Paris private investigator (Maurice Chevalier) who interferes with her father’s work by preventing an American playboy (Gary Cooper) from getting shot by a jealous husband, then pretends to outdo the playboy at his own no-consequences game.
The story is light and amusing, with Chevalier ably serving as the fulcrum who helps it turn into something poignant and more interesting at the end. (The voiceover as coda, by the way, was added for Code reasons.) And Billy Wilder (co-writing and directing) guides the ship with a light, skilled hand -- the scenes between Cooper’s Frank Flanagan and his hired band are particularly fun.
There’s a fatal flaw, though: While Hepburn has never been more luminous, Cooper is too old to be the leading man. Wilder knew this, using soft focus and dim lighting in an effort to be kind that just calls attention to the movie’s fatal flaw. Moreover, Flanagan’s neither particularly interesting nor pleasant, so you never believe Hepburn’s Ariane would actually be interested in him. (He’s rich, granted, but she doesn’t seem to care about that.)
Directors kept doing this to Audrey Hepburn in the 1950s: Three years earlier, Wilder stuck her with a half-rotted Humphrey Bogart in Sabrina; in 1957 she also had to put up with a mummified Fred Astaire in Funny Face. Beyond the fact that it’s creepy, it doesn’t work for those stories.
I’m going to look on the bright side: Hepburn deserves even more adulation than she gets, since she rises above her AARP romantic leads to carry all three pictures.
The 39 Steps (1935)
A clever early Hitchcock I found intriguing because you can see the visible language of film evolving before your eyes. Some scenes look utterly modern, with intriguing camera angles and blocking, but they’re right next to oddly static compositions, or scenes filled with cuts that cross the line for no apparent reason. But there’s also a justifiably famous transition shot from a cleaning woman’s horrified discovery to a train whistle, a tricky perspective change from inside a car, and some other nice surprises.
The movie is a prototype Hitchcock thriller, with a plot that carries you along provided you don’t ask too many questions. (Or any questions, really.) But the movie hits its stride surprisingly late, coming into focus once Robert Donat’s Richard Hannay winds up manacled to Madeleine Carroll’s Pamela. Hang around that long and you’ll be well entertained.
McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971)
This one made my list because it was an inspiration for Solo, a Star Wars spinoff movie I think deserved a better reception and suspect will be viewed more fondly in time. Yep, that’s Warren Beatty’s fur coat that Alden Ehrenreich wears, and the bar Beatty visits in the town of Presbyterian Church is a dead ringer for the one where Han and Lando Calrissian meet over cards.
So that was fun. As for the rest, after my usual post-movie reading, I get what Robert Altman was going for. This is an anti-Western that relentlessly inverts the genre’s tropes, with the climactic gunfight happening not in the center of town before all eyes, but scarcely noticed as the townspeople rush to put out a fire.
But I found that more interesting to read about than to watch. I was never invested in Beatty’s McCabe or Julie Christie’s Mrs. Miller, finding them less memorable than a young visitor who runs afoul of trouble (Keith Carradine) or the lead bounty hunter sent after McCabe (Hugh Millais, exuding genial menace).
Still, the movie has a powerful sense of place, I keep finding myself thinking about it, and lots of people whose opinions I respect consider it a classic. So perhaps I’ll revisit this one someday. But for now, my conclusion is that I’m missing whatever gene you need to appreciate chilly, airless Hollywood art-house movies of the 1970s -- a movement, ironically, that screeched to a halt when Jaws and Star Wars introduced the era of the summer blockbuster.
