Can you give some examples of how every queer couple in the Greys universe is toxic? That’s a big statement to make without backing it up.
I didn't want to make the post too long at the time, but since you asked, I do have experience in toxic relationships. I'll start with Calzona. At first, their relationship was excellent, and I enjoyed them as a couple, but then Arizona became my least favourite character after her biphobia started showing. They break up multiple times, and that shit sucks; not only that, Callie gets cheated on for the second time! Granted, Arizona was angry at the world and only cheated once, but it doesn't make it better. Callie is genuinely trying her best, and it is entirely valid for her to bring up Sophia’s heritage in a custody battle cause, yes, Callie and Mark didn't have to give her any rights over Sophia. Does it make it right or kind?
No, but valid when you are a person who lost their marriage, trust and best friend and wants to start over with the one person who hasn't made you feel like shit. Next are Nico and Levi. Poor Levi was practically forced out of the closet when his own love interest wasn't! Nico then manipulates him by saying he doesn't love him if he doesn't do what he wants. Then we have Carina and Maya. I genuinely love this couple and thought nothing wrong with it until recent episodes. Maya has always struggled with her dad’s abuse, and I related hard as I have a similar relationship with my mom. Still, I also relate to Carina when it comes to being with someone who is traumatized and struggling with their own issues and damn begging someone to get help when they clearly don't want it sucks and hurts worse than I can explain, and not wanting to go back to that person after that experience is valid. I watched the episode where Maya has a breakthrough, and I love that for her, but if it took her wife leaving, it might not be exactly healthy. I don't hate these characters as characters. People can be good people but have terrible relationships, remember breakups are natural. I again exclude current ships that haven't happened. I also forgot about Penelope I don't think she's toxic, and Kai & Amelia aren’t wlw, and I didn't say all queer relationships so...

Jenna Ortega
Wednesday: Y/N is babysitting her cousin's 8-year-old twins, who are obsessed with the TV show Wednesday. Although she loves the kids, she becomes frustrated. Tinder: What started as a casual, half-serious Tinder interaction turns into a genuine love story. Just a bunch of playful messages between two Tinder matches, Y/N and Jenna, over the course of more than two years. ♡

Characters:
Law and Order SVU
Casey Novak
World's Worst Detectives: The detectives of the Special Victims Unit are thrown for a loop when Y/N walks in wearing a massive diamond ring, casually revealing her secret five-year relationship and recent engagement to ADA Casey Novak. The revelation sends the team into a mix of disbelief, betrayal, and laughter as they struggle to process how the two managed to keep such a major secret under their noses. ♡
Swipe Right for Sarcasm: Casey Novak, the sharp-tongued ADA, dives into Tinder at the insistence of her friend, Olivia Benson. After a sea of uninspiring profiles, she matches with Y/N whose sarcasm rivals her own. What begins as a battle of wit quickly turns into a connection Casey didn’t expect, their banter leaving her both annoyed and intrigued. ♡
Her Intern: Casey finds herself navigating uncharted emotional territory when her new intern, Y/N, enters her life. Y/N's sharp intellect and enthusiasm for justice awaken feelings Casey has never experienced before. Feelings for another woman. As Casey and Y/N work together on high-stakes cases, a quiet bond forms between them, filled with late nights, meaningful conversations, and moments of shared vulnerability. Though Casey maintains her professionalism, she begins to cherish the inspiration and light Y/N brings to her life. ♡
Woman of Many Talents: When a late-night toilet malfunction leaves Y/N helpless in her office, she reluctantly seek help from ADA Casey Novak, the sharp, confident lawyer working late nearby. To Y/N's surprise, Casey agrees to assist, shedding her usual polished demeanor (along with her blazer) to tackle the plumbing issue with unexpected determination. As she takes off a few of her clothing and gets to work, her striking appearance leave you flustered and captivated. ♡
Behind the Screen: After joining an anonymous online debate forum, “Justice Anonymous,” to vent about legal injustices, Y/N finds a verbal sparring partner in the infuriatingly brilliant “AmicusCuriae.” Meanwhile, in real life, she struggles with constant clashes with their competitive and sharp-witted coworker, Casey Novak. The online debates grow into something deeper, revealing surprising compatibility between the two. ♡
Second Thoughts: After weeks of subtle flirtation and unspoken tension, Casey's fear of ruining her friendship with Y/N has kept her from taking the next step. However, seeing Y/N receive attention from someone else finally forces her to confess her feelings. ♡
Jealousy: Chester Lake, a charming and confident detective, seems to be paying a little too much attention to Y/N's girlfriend, Casey Novak. While Chester’s actions appear harmless, Y/N's irritation and possessiveness escalate, leading to some sharp exchanges throughout the day. Casey reminds Y/N of her unwavering love and passionately reaffirms her devotion, leaving no room for lingering insecurity. ♡
Legal Bindings: Initially brought together by a shared commitment to justice, Y/N's and Casey's connection blossoms into a romantic partnership filled with warmth and genuine moments. However, the inherent challenges of Casey's demanding career cast a shadow over their growing bond. ♡
Home is Where You Are: Casey comes home weighed down by a tough day at work, her frustration amplified by her SVU colleagues' lack of trust and cold hostility. You sooth her with kind words, tender care, and reassurance, helping her relax a little. ♡
Blind Spot: Casey has been unknowingly caught in a flirtatious game with her colleague, Y/N, for weeks. Y/N consistently flirts with Casey through subtle gestures but Casey remains oblivious, chalking it up to Y/N’s friendly personality. ♡
Distraction: Casey is working from home on a Sunday, but her focus wavers as her girlfriend flaunts a scandalously short mini skirt, leading to a steamy interruption at the dining table. ☆
Laced Intentions: Casey finds herself in an unexpectedly intimate situation when she decides to fold laundry in Y/N's apartment while she's in the shower. Her curiosity leads her to discover Y/N's organized collection of lingerie, leaving her blushing and intrigued. When Y/N catch her red-handed, the playful tension between them escalates as Casey's professional demeanor slips, and flirtation takes over. ♡/☆(ish)
Accident: After Y/N Benson is hospitalized following a car accident, her mother, Olivia Benson, rushes to her side, unaware that ADA Casey Novak, Y/N’s secret girlfriend, is just as panicked and insists on coming along. As the hours stretch in the hospital, Olivia grows suspicious of Casey’s unwavering presence, only for Casey to confess she’s in love with Y/N. ♡
Picture Perfect: Casey Novak, the new ADA in the Special Victims Unit, struggles to connect with the detectives, who remain loyal to her predecessor, Alex Cabot. Despite her professional demeanor, Casey feels isolated until a visit from her partner, Y/N, and their twin daughters, Victoria and Madison, offers a glimpse of her loving home life and surprises the squad. ♡
Home Run: Casey’s strength and commanding presence were always evident, but watching her dominate the softball field brought a whole new appreciation. From her effortless precision on the field to the way her confidence and athleticism captivated you, she left you completely undone. When she caught onto your flustered admiration, Casey teasingly leaned into it, her charm and strength leaving no room for doubt that she was every bit as powerful as she seemed. ♡
Heels: Casey, usually brimming with confidence, found herself surprisingly nervous as she visited her girlfriend’s apartment for the first time. What started as a simple evening quickly turned playful when Casey noticed the height difference between them, leading to lighthearted teasing and flirtation. Beneath the humor, Casey’s genuine admiration and affection for her girlfriend shone, deepening their bond. ♡
Curveball: Casey is hilariously out of her depth when it comes to handling jealousy. Spotting her on-again/off-again flame laughing with someone else at a batting cage, she awkwardly tries to insert herself into the situation, pretending to love baseball while clearly struggling with both the sport and her feelings. ♡
Every Little Thing You Do: Y/N finds herself completely undone by Casey, whose every action ignites an irresistible desire. From fixing a car in a leather jacket to cooking dinner with effortless care. Whether on the baseball field or during a simple dinner outing, Casey's charisma and intensity leaves her breathless. ☆
Olivia Benson
Teamwork: After a long, exhausting day, Y/N struggles to manage dinner and their agitated daughter while feeling overwhelmed. When Olivia comes home, she quickly notices Y/N’s stress and steps in to save the day by playing hide and seek with their daughter. Later, after the house quiets down, Olivia comforts Y/N, reminding her that she doesn’t have to carry everything alone. ♡
Home to Love: After a grueling week of work, Olivia returns home, utterly drained but grateful to be back with her family. Her wife, Y/N, and their five-year-old daughter, Sophie, have transformed the living room into a cozy spa night setup to help Olivia unwind. The evening is filled with laughter, love, and tender moments as Olivia is pampered and reminded of the joy and peace her family brings her. ♡
Safe: After just a few dates with Olivia Benson, Y/N finds herself in a dangerous situation when her drink is spiked at a bar. Realizing something is wrong, Y/N calls Olivia for help. Olivia arrives immediately, arrests the perpetrator with the help of Elliot, and takes Y/N home to take care for her. ♡
Femininity: Olivia struggles with feeling forced into the “masculine” role in her relationship with her ultra-feminine girlfriend, Y/N, who loves makeup, dresses, and all things girly. Olivia’s insecurities about not being “feminine enough” lead her to overcompensate by trying to conform to heteronormative expectations. Y/N notices this and reassures Olivia that being feminine isn’t about clothes or roles. Being a woman is enough. With Y/N’s encouragement, Olivia begins to embrace vulnerability and explore her own expression of femininity. ♡
Alex Cabot
Does Your Mother Know: Alex, a confident and composed professional finds herself unexpectedly intrigued when a younger, gorgeous woman boldly approaches her. Alex balances between maintaining her cool detachment and indulging her curiosity. ♡
Things We Don’t Say: As a new detective, Y/N never expected Alex Cabot to be the one who could disarm her with a glance. What started as stolen moments and quiet conversations after late nights on the job soon became something more, though neither of them dared to define it. But everything changes after one unexpected night when Y/N sees Alex with someone else. ♡
Unexpected: Alex's world is overturned completely by the arrival of a brilliant new hire. What begins as a professional curiosity soon evolves into a deeper, more complicated attraction, one that challenges Alex’s understanding of herself and her desires. ♡
Jealousy Looks Good on You: Alex left the DA’s office to dedicate her career to working full-time with domestic violence victims. In her new role, she crosses paths with Y/N, a rookie cop with a growing crush on Alex. Y/N believes Alex is straight and doesn’t dare to make a move, until Alex finds out Y/N is going on a date with someone else. ♡
Hidden Ink: After Y/N gets a new tattoo she eagerly await her wife's, Alex’s return from a long day. Once at home, Y/N makes Alex find her well hidden ink. The little game turns into something much more intimate. ♡
Untouched: Alex found herself challenged by your unwavering affection when you entered her life. Initially overwhelmed by your casual touches and playful kisses, she slowly began to let her walls down. ♡
After All These Years: Late at night, Alex shows up at Y/N's apartment after being gone for 3 years. Y/N's guards are up and she's not sure if she can ever forgive Alex for disappearing without a word, without explanation. △(ish)
All I Want for New Year’s Eve Is You: Alex and Y/N spend a quiet New Year's Eve together in Alex's Manhattan apartment, enjoying each other's company and sharing a deep, intimate connection. They kiss, talk, and explore their desire for one another. ☆
Winning Hearts: Alex meets Y/N’s skeptical parents for the first time, determined to win their approval. Though they’re initially guarded, her charm, humor, and clear love for you gradually break through their defenses. ♡
Princess Charming: Y/N's warmth and charm crack Alex carefully curated walls, leaving her flustered yet intrigued. As they continue to interact, Y/N unwavering kindness and genuine affection become a solace in Alex's chaotic world, challenging her to embrace vulnerability. Over time, Alex discovers the joy of letting someone in, finding in Y/N a partner who sees her strength and her softness. ♡
Everything You Deserve: Y/N feels out of place while shopping at an upscale Manhattan boutique with her sophisticated girlfriend, Alex. Though Alex insists Y/N deserves the best, Y/N struggles with accepting extravagance and wants to give Alex a gift that’s truly special. ♡
One Night Stand: After meeting at a bar a late Tuesday night, Alex and Y/N share a nice conversation that leads to a one-night stand. ☆
Misunderstood: Y/N harbors unspoken feelings for her close friend, Alex, a brilliant and captivating ADA. Misunderstandings and rumors about Alex’s relationship with someone else cause Y/N to distance herself, despite the pain it brings. △/♡
Tea Party: Y/N, a tea-loving romantic gets excited for her first "tea party" with her wife Alex, expecting charm and elegance. Instead, she finds a boring lawyer hangout with wine and no tea in sight. ♡
Bored: Y/N gets extremely bored while Alex is working from home and she desperately needs attention. ♡
Amanda Rollins
A Village in You: When Y/N, a new single mom re-entering the workforce, starts her job at the 16th Precinct, Amanda Rollins becomes her biggest source of support. From late-night daycare pickups to baking cookies on rainy afternoons, Amanda becomes a steady presence for both Y/N and her daughter, Ellie. Over time, their bond grows into something deeper, giving Y/N the village she didn’t know she needed and a chance at love she never expected. ♡

everyone talks about the drama and angst of greys anatomy but it is legit a hilarious show at times
s7e7 is such a good episode in balancing the two i mean we have the arizona callie africa breakup plot line which is pure angst but then at the same time mark and lexie are just giving a girl a GINORMOUS ass. meanwhile bailey is distraught over the loss of a patient who is the only person who understands what she went through in the shooting and then she goes to confide in derek shepard and he reveals the only thing he does this whole episode is write “Alzheimers is a bad disease. We should cure it.”

Thinking about how Arizona Robbins (an out lesbian) was only meant to appear in 3 episodes of Grey's Anatomy but went on to appear in 11 seasons, including guest appearances, most of that time being in a relationship with Callie Torres (a recently out bisexual person). On a completely unrelated note, I'm also thinking of how Tommy Kinard (heavily implied to be gay) was only supposed to be in this season of 911 for 4 episodes but has basically been confirmed to be in more, where he is... *checks notes* the love interest of Evan Buckley (a recently out bisexual person). Just a fun little thought 🥰

Operating Rooms…
Pairing: Addison Montgomery x preg!wife!reader
Summary: jumps around but reader is pregnant and due date is approaching fast, a few scares have Addison on the edge as she can’t imagine losing her wife or her baby. Also part of this is a rewrite of the episode where Derek throws up in the OR with Lexi.
Warnings: mention of miscarriage, blood, vomiting.
******************************************************** "Suction, There's to much blood in the field." you said as you and Derek operated on the patient.
"We're losing him!, ugh I should've just cut the cord, this is way to risky."
"Derek, just stay calm." you said, you were standing over your patient multiple hours into am exhaustive tumor removal. It was taking a toll on both of you, spending hours on you feet was hard enough but being 7 months pregnant made it even harder, you're muscles were starting to lock up as you fought the fatigue, your body was absolutely exhausted.
"Wait. It's back, He's coming back up." Mark said.
you could hear Lexie ask a question but you were zoning out as relief that flooded your body quickly turned into worry, you felt pain but not muscle pain, something was different, something was wrong.
"Dr. Shepard?"
"My mask..."
"What?"
"His mask, take it off" "Take off my mask, Take off my mask!"
you both yelled in unison, as you quickly realized that something was wrong. she quickly moved his mask as he bent over and threw up on the OR floor. you looked away turning into your arm, Mark saw your reaction looking you over.
"Y/N?" Mark said watching you as you turned to make eye contact with him.
"Dr. Montgomery, y-you're bleeding." Lexi said eyes getting wide with worry. In the midst of everything you forgot about yourself, quickly looking down to see a small stream of red darkening your scrubs, you're hands still inside the patient.
"Someone page Dr. Montgomery, NOW!" yelled Mark before rushing over to you.
"Lexi check on Derek, we need to keep this patient alive." He commanded, within minutes doctors filled the room, Meredith and Callie rushed to help Derek as Addison rushed to your side. As soon as your hands were out Mark scooped you up and rushed you out onto a gurney to get you to OB.
"Addison?"
"Right here Y/N, I'm right here."
"I'm scared..."
"I know, but we have the best." you squeezed her hand as they rushed you down the hall, as soon as you got there Arizona was waiting with monitors. "Okay mama, Let's figure out what's going on."
a few hours later you were in a hospital bed, Addison was next to you as Arizona walked in, "How're we feeling?"
"A little nervous, what's going on?"
"Well it looks like you have a case of what we call incompetent cervix, baby was pushing on your cervix and with the stress you were putting your body through, it cause your cervix to slightly dilate."
"Which caused your bleeding." Addison finished.
"And the baby?"
"The baby is okay, we gave you a slight dose of something to hopefully prevent labor, and we'll keep you overnight... and if it worsens then we can stitch the cervix closed until you go into labor."
---------------------------------------------------------
1 month later and you were back in action, saving lives, performing surgeries. Addison and Arizona had been keep an extremely close eye on you, monitoring work load and the baby.
That is until you found yourself in a very high-stakes trauma situation, the emergency room was flooded after a multi-vehicle pileup on the highway, and the trauma team was operating at full throttle.
“Dr. Montgomery, patient coming in with a chest wound—GSW to the aorta!” one of the paramedics called out as they wheeled a gurney toward you. The patient’s vitals were dropping fast, and her skin was pale.
You didn’t think twice. Despite the bulk of your 8 month pregnant belly, you climbed onto the moving gurney, ignoring the gasps of the staff around you. Your hand plunged into the patient’s chest cavity, fingers finding the torn artery.
“Clamp!” You shouted as a nurse handed you a clamp, “Someone prep an OR now!”
The gurney rushed down the hallway, the patient’s life quite literally in your hands. You barked orders, ignoring the discomfort in your lower back and the occasional tightening across your belly.
Once inside the OR, people were very cautiously and efficiently moving around the room, nobody dared get in your way as you operated. The nurses looking ant you with looks of admiration and concern as you moved the patient to the table, your hand still securely clamping the bleeding artery. You very efficiently let your scrub nurse gown you the best she could, just as you saw movement in your gallery.
"Dr. Montgomery, How're we doing?" you heard chief Webber's voice over the intercom. He had been showing some prospective attendings, and the board around and they decided that watching your surgery was intriguing so you had to put on your best show for them.
"Getting there, How's my ED looking?"
"Clearing out as we speak."
"Good, I'm going to need Dr. Torres and Dr. Sloan in here to help with this repair."
"Paging them now." he said before exiting the gallery.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that?” Callie muttered as she finally scrubbed in, walking to the other side of the table.
“Save it for later, Torres,” you shot back, sweat beading on your brow. “Right now, this patient needs me.”
But Callie’s sharp eyes didn’t miss the way your jaw clenched or how your breaths seemed shorter than usual. She stepped closer, her voice low.
“Are you feeling okay? Because if you’re not, you need to tell me now.”
“I’m fine,” you replied firmly, though the pain rolling through your body told a different story.
Before Callie could argue, the door burst open, and Mark Sloan stormed in, quickly letting the nurse gown him before he came to your side.
“What the hell are you doing?” he demanded, eyes darting from your swollen belly to the blood-streaked patient on the table. “Addison is going to kill me if she finds out you’re in here doing this.”
“Then don’t tell her,” you said, not looking up from your work. “I’m the only one preventing this patient from bleeding out.”
Mark groaned, running a hand through his hair. “This is insane. You’re literally eight months pregnant. You shouldn’t even be in the ER, let alone elbow-deep in someone’s chest.”
“Mark,” you said through gritted teeth, “I paged you to assist in saving a life, so either shut up and assist or get out of my OR.”
———a few moments later———
Callie stood across from you and Mark next to you being your extra set of hands, after a particularly strong contraction he whispered in you ear, "you okay, we don't need another scare."
"I know, I know..." you whispered back, before returning to the task at hand. 15 more minutes went by, this time you carefully leaned back a wince on your face.
"Y/N, we okay over there?" Callie asked as you readjusted.
"I think so." you shifted around.
"Look if you need to tap out..." Mark started.
"Mark..." you looked at him with your intimidating 'don't start' look, before shifting uncomfortably again.
Callie glanced at Mark, then back at you. Her lips tightened. She had been silently counting the intervals between the grimaces that crossed your face. Finally, she broke.
“You’re in labor,” she said flatly.
Your hands paused for a fraction of a second before resuming. “I am not.”
Mark’s head whipped around. “You’re what?” He hissed.
“She’s in labor,” Callie repeated, her tone almost bored and dripping with her signature sass. “And she’s being stubborn as hell.”
“I’m not in labor!” you snapped, though the next contraction almost knocked the breath out of you. You gripped the surgical tools tighter, focusing on the artery beneath your fingertips.
"Y/N." she said sternly, a stare-down happening as you were both stubborn.
“That’s it,” Mark stepped back and move for his pager. “I’m paging Addison.”
“Don’t you dare!” you growled.
“Fine,” Callie said, her gaze narrowing. “Then I’m paging Arizona.”
You groaned, your eyes flicked up to the gallery of oblivious spectators before going back to Callie’s "Okay, page Arizona... but don't cause a scene..."
She slowly nodded in response, "Can someone page my wife please." Callie said, a nurse quickly going to page Arizona, minutes later she walked in.
"You paged?" she asked, her gaze flicking between you and Callie.
"Yea," she said and motioned to you. Arizona stepped in next to you, "Y/N, you okay?" she said gently, watching the glance exchange between you and Callie.
“She’s in labor,” Callie said.
“I’m not—”
Arizona stepped closer, her hands ghosting over your rounded belly. She didn’t need an ultrasound to confirm; the tell tale signs of your uterus contracting under her palms told her everything she needed to know.
“You’re in labor,” Arizona said softly, her tone leaving no room for argument.
“Great, now everyone’s ganging up on me,” you muttered.
“(Y/N), you need to leave the OR,” Arizona urged. “You’re risking your health and the baby’s.”
“If I move an inch,” you said sharply, “this artery will tear, and this patient will bleed out... we have a lot riding on this surgery and they're all up in that room watching."
Another contraction hit, and your breath caught. Mark stepped in front of you, shielding your pained expression from the gallery where Dr. Webber and a group of investors were watching.
"Okay so we have two options, you leave and let someone else take over..."
"nope."
"Or I can discreetly hook you up to some monitors and monitor baby from right here next to you, but once your contractions get to close I'm pulling you."
Callie spoke up agreeing with Arizona. “Page Bailey and Kepner to scrub in. Arizona, you’re getting her out of here the second they arrive.”
“I’m not leaving,” you protested, though your voice wavered.
“Yes, you are,” Arizona said firmly. She met your eyes, her expression softening. “You’ve done enough. Let us handle it now.”
you looked between her and Callie your resolve finally giving in, "Okay, whatever we have to do, just don't let them see and do not page my wife just yet." you said leaning your head to point at the others in the gallery.
Arizona quickly devised a plan, Webber distracted the investors with a quick tour of the other galleries, before a few intrigued returned, Arizona quickly attached monitors to your belly allowing her to discreetly monitor the baby and your contractions. Mark stood shielding your occasionally distressed form from peering eyes, Callie covering by having the nurses rotate to distract.
20 minutes later and your contractions were drawing closer, Arizona sat behind a monitor with Ben as he monitored the anesthesia, she carefully watched the monitors whispering soft encouragement as you fought through the contractions. Minutes later the investors exited to continue their tours and Callie paged Bailey who quickly rushed to the rescue, repairing the damage so you could pull your hand out, Arizona came to your side unhooking the monitors and following you out of the room.
you entered the scrub room your hand shot out, grasping the edge of the sink as you doubled over slightly, the sharp pain momentarily stealing your breath. Arizona was at your side in an instant, one hand firm on your lower back, the other coming to rest protectively over the curve of your belly.
“Breathe,” she said gently but firmly, her tone the picture of calm. “In through your nose, out through your mouth. Come on, you know the drill.”
You focused on her voice, grounding yourself as you exhaled slowly, the contraction ebbing like a receding tide. Just as you straightened, you felt it—a sudden warmth, unmistakable and unstoppable, pooling down your legs and soaking into your scrubs.
You froze.
“Arizona…” you started, your voice barely above a whisper.
“I see it,” she said quickly, already assessing the situation. Her gaze dropped to the dark stain spreading across your thighs, soaking your navy blue scrubs. “Your water just broke.”
“Shit…”
"Okay mama, I think it's time to go," Arizona said rubbing her hand firmly into your back to try and relieve the clenched muscles.
“that might be best," you trailed.
She caught your arm before you could take another step. “We need to get you to a delivery room. Now.”
"Okay let's do this, and please, page my wife."
"Let's get you out of here first." she said guiding you out of the door.
“No wheelchair…” you said straightening and shaking your head.
“You can’t be serious right now?” She asked looking at you like you were being delusional.
“If I can still walk I will walk, no way I’m losing any dignity by being wheeled around and alerting the whole hospital.” You said sternly.
“God you’re stubborn…” she muttered, “Fine,” she relented, “but we’re moving, and I’m not letting go of you for one second.”
True to her word, she kept a steadying hand on your elbow as she guided you discreetly through the halls. By the time you reached the delivery room, your scrubs felt heavy and uncomfortable, and the tightening in your belly was coming faster.
--- time jump---
Once inside, Arizona helped you onto the bed, but you were up again moments later, pacing the room with stubborn determination.
“I could’ve finished that surgery,” you muttered under your breath, wincing as another contraction hit.
Arizona chuckled as she snapped on gloves to check your dilation. “Not a chance. Your water broke, and you’re definitely in labor. There was no way you were going to last another minute in that OR, and you know it.”
You rolled your eyes but could suppress your smirk, “I was saving a life.”
“And now you’re saving two lives,” Arizona counted with a grin gesturing to you and your baby bump as you groaned.
Time blurred as you labored, the room dimly lit, the hum of the monitors blending with the sound of your breathing. You leaned against the bed, trying to find relief, you heard the door latch engage and swing open stark white light flooding the dimly lit room, outlining an unmistakable silhouette that you knew well, your wide: Addison Forbes-Montgomery.
Her strawberry-blonde hair framed her face, her striking features shadowed but no less piercing. Her eyes raked over you, taking in the curve of your swollen belly, the sweat on your brow, the strength in your posture despite the pain contorting your face. Her expression was a complicated mixture of relief, pride, and exasperation.
“Addison,” you breathed, extending a hand toward her. She quickly made her way to your side, the door clicking closed behind her, returning the room to its soothing calmness.
"Y/N Forbes-Montgomery, I cannot believe you."
"what did I do?" you softly whispered.
"Eight months pregnant and jumping on a gurney to perform a trauma surgery? Operating while in labor? Are you insane?"
"so you heard about that," you chuckled, "whoo..." you left out a small breath as another contraction started.
"Of course I heard about it, I'm your wife, someone's got to watch out for you."
You grimaced, both from her scolding and another contraction. “I was saving a life.”
“You could’ve endangered two,” she snapped, though her tone softened almost immediately as she saw the flicker of fear in your eyes.
“Hey,” she murmured, her free hand coming to rest on your cheek.
Tears burned in your eyes as you confessed, “Addie I’m scared… it’s to early, what if something goes wrong?”
“It’s okay. You’re okay. The baby’s okay, it’s not too early. We’ve got this. You’re strong, and our baby is strong.” She leaned in, pressing a kiss to your damp forehead. “I’ve never been prouder of you.”
The delivery room fell into a peaceful quiet, save for the sound of your breathing and the rhythmic beeping of the monitors. Addison stayed close, sitting on the edge of your bed with one hand clasped over yours and the other resting gently on your knee.
She smiled softly, her strawberry-blonde hair falling loose around her face as she leaned in.
“So…about your little gurney stunt,” she said, her voice tinged with amusement.
You huffed, a flicker of a smile tugging at your lips despite the building pressure in your abdomen. “It wasn’t a stunt. It was a save,” you shot back.
Addison chuckled, shaking her head. “A save, huh? Eight months pregnant, elbow-deep in someone’s chest cavity, mid-contraction. Honestly, I expect nothing less from the badass trauma surgeon I married.”
You smirked through a groan as another contraction began to build. “You knew what you signed up for, Dr. Montgomery.”
Her laughter softened as she reached out, her fingers brushing over your jawline before gently lifting your chin.
“Yeah,” she said softly, her gaze locking with yours, “but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t scared.”
Her blue eyes searched yours, and her voice wavered slightly as she continued. “Hearing you jumped on that gurney and then finding out you were in labor—” She paused, swallowing hard. “You’re incredible, but I don’t ever want to feel that kind of fear again.”
“I’m sorry,” you said a tear of frustration and exhaustion slipping down your cheek, “I can’t live with it if something happens to our baby.”
“Nothing is going to happen,” she said reaching up and brushing away your tears with her thumb, “you’ve got me, Arizona, Callie and everyone here, no one is going to let anything happen to you or this baby. I promise.”
She smiled softly at you as you grimaced through another intense contraction, your eyes closed and head falling back. After a few moments you looked back up at her nodding slowly before taking in a shaky breath, “Can you check me?”
“What?” Addison blinked pulling back slightly.
“Check me,” you repeated, your green eyes meeting hers. “I need you to. I need to know. Please.”
“Sweetheart, I’m your wife, not your doctor—”
“Addison, please.”
Her resolve wavered as she looked at you, the vulnerability in your expression breaking down her hesitation. “Okay,” she said softly, standing to grab gloves from the nearby tray.
You shifted, turning to face her as she knelt in front of you. “Tell me if it’s too uncomfortable,” she murmured, her tone now purely professional but still tinged with concern.
You nodded, gripping the sheets tightly as she carefully checked your dilation. A moment later, her eyes flicked up to meet yours, “You’re at eight centimeters.”
You groaned in frustration as the door swung open, and Arizona and Callie stepped in. Arizona immediately crossed to the monitors, her keen eyes scanning the data, while Callie leaned against the wall with a casual grin.
“How’s she doing?” Arizona asked, her gaze darting between you and Addison.
“She’s at eight centimeters,” Addison replied, pulling off her gloves.
Arizona raised an eyebrow. “She was already at seven when I checked earlier. This baby is not waiting.”
Addison shot you a look, her protective instincts kicking in. “You’ve been in transition this whole time?”
You groaned as another contraction surged through you, muttering through gritted teeth, “Feels like it.”
As the contraction passed, you leaned back against the bed, catching your breath. “How’s the patient from earlier?” you asked, your voice still slightly strained.
Callie grinned, pushing off the wall to step closer. “Alive, thanks to you. After you left, Bailey and Kepner finished closing her up and got her to the ICU. I figured I’d leave them to it so I could come check on you.”
“Nice to see my little stunt paid off…” you smirked tiredly glancing at a playfully scowling Addison.
“I am still not happy with you, Y/N Montgomery,” she glared at you, “and don’t you go encouraging her heroics,” Addison turned to look at Callie who threw her hands up in mock defense.
”Don’t worry, I told her she was being stubborn and insane… but less focusing on that and more focusing on you getting that baby out.”
“Easier said than done.” you muttered, gripping Addison’s hand tightly as another contraction took over.
The contraction hit like a freight train, and this time, it felt like your body was taking over entirely. Your grip on Addison’s hand tightened, your knuckles white as you gasped for breath. The pain was blinding, and your legs trembled beneath the strain.
“Breathe, sweetheart,” Addison coached, her voice firm but calm.
“I am breathing!” you snapped through gritted teeth, though your words lacked bite as another groan escaped you.
Callie smirked from the side of the room, arms crossed. “Still snarky. That’s a good sign.”
“Callie,” Addison warned, her voice sharp, though she couldn’t hide her smirk.
When the contraction finally ebbed, you sagged back against the bed, your head tilting to meet Addison’s gaze. “This sucks,” you muttered, as she wiped at the sweaty hair sticking to your forehead.
Arizona stepped forward, a reassuring presence as she gently touched your arm. “It does. But you’re handling it like a champ.”
“I don’t feel like a champ,” you groaned,.“I feel like I’m being ripped in half.”
Addison, pressed a kiss to your temple, “You’re strong,” she said quietly. “And you’re so close. You’ve been through worse than this.”
You scoffed, managing a small laugh through the pain. “Yeah, but none of those involved pushing out a whole person.”
Before anyone could respond, another contraction ripped through you, this one stronger than the last. Your body tensed, and a sharp cry escaped your lips. Addison immediately leaned closer, her hands steady on yours as she helped you focus on her voice.
“Breathe in,” she guided. “And out. That’s it. Stay with me, sweetheart.”
When the wave finally passed, your head fell back against the bed, tears streaking your cheeks.
Arizona’s voice broke through the moment. “Okay, I think we’re getting there. How are you feeling?”
You groaned. “Like I’m ready to be done.”
“Well,” Arizona stepped closer to check your progress, her brow furrowing as she examined you. “You’re at nine and a half centimeters,” she announced. “Almost there.”
“This feels never ending,” you groaned. “God will it ever end… and I swear to God if anyone says anything, or if I hear about any betting pools that Mark started, I will murder someone.”
Addison’s eyes softened as she looked at you, her thumb brushing across your knuckles. “Let’s just focus on one thing at a time. Right now, all we’re worried about is meeting our baby.”
You nodded, the tears pooling in your eyes again as you whispered, “I just want her to be okay.”
“She will be,” Addison said, her voice steady and sure. “We’re going to meet her, and she’s going to be perfect.”
———time jump———
The room feels both chaotic and silent, the air thick with anticipation as you pace back and forth, your hands pressing against your lower back in frustration. Every contraction feels like it’s pulling you apart, but you refuse to give in to the demands of your body—or to the suggestions of everyone else in the room.
“Would you please sit down or lay down?” Arizona finally pleads, standing off to the side with Callie.
You shoot her a glare, your lips curling into a snarky retort. “Sure, Robbins. I’ll lay down the second you deliver this baby for me. Oh wait, you can’t.”
Callie snorts, trying to hide her laugh behind her hand. Addison, standing a few feet away with her arms crossed, watches you carefully, her concerned gaze trailing your every move.
“Pacing helps,” you snap again, preempting their protests. “And don’t tell me to breathe—I am breathing, thank you very much. Breathing doesn’t make this baby come out any faster.”
Arizona, leaning casually against the counter, smirks. “It might not make her come out faster, but it’ll keep you from passing out.”
“I’m a world class trauma surgeon, I can a few simple breathing techniques.”
Arizona throws her hands up in surrender while Callie whispers to Addison, “She’s terrifying when she’s in labor.”
“I heard that,” you mutter, rolling your eyes as you stop in your tracks, gripping the back of the bed as another contraction ripples through you.
“You’re almost there,” Addison murmurs softly, stepping closer to you.
“Almost where? The fiery pits of hell? Because that’s exactly what this feels like.” You huff, glaring at her even as you lean into her steadying touch. Addison chuckles softly as you lean into her, wrapping her arms around you as your head falls against her shoulder and you sway gently. “You’re snarky when you’re in pain.”
“Oh, you noticed?” you snap, shooting her a look. “Tell you what, next time you can be the one hauling around an entire human being in your body while everyone insists on telling you what to do.”
Addison raises an eyebrow but doesn’t respond, her eyes filled with love and amusement despite your tone.
Before anyone can respond, you swaying comes to an abrupt halt, one of your hands leaves your bump to grasp Addison arm as a wave of intense pressure washes over you. Your forehead falls against her neck, your breathing uneven.
“It’s time, I need to push,” your voice breaking, the weight of the statement hanging in the air.
Addison’s arms wrap around you instantly, her voice soft but steady. “Okay, sweetheart. Let’s see where you’re at.”
Arizona quickly steps forward, gently guiding Addison aside for a moment to check your dilation. After a few seconds, she looks up with a small, reassuring smile. “You’re at 10 centimeters. It’s time.”
You let out a shaky sigh, muttering, “Thank God,” before groaning at the intensity of another contraction.
Addison chuckles, brushing a strand of hair from your face. “You’ve got this, love. Let’s get you to the bed so we can meet our little girl.”
Reluctantly, you let Addison guide you back to the bed, every movement careful and deliberate as the pressure builds. As Callie returns with two nurses, you let out a small sigh of relief seeing familiar faces. The familiar faces are a relief, their calm demeanor giving you some semblance of control as they set up around you.
Addison leans you forward to crawl in the bed behind you, she leaned you back into her a leg on either side supporting you as you held onto her knee, your other hand in hers, her spare hand wiped sweaty hair from your forehead as you leaned your temple against her face.
Arizona takes her position at the foot of the bed, her hands steady and her demeanor calm. “Alright on this next contraction I want you to push, okay?”
The next contraction tears through you, and you cry out, gripping Addison’s hand as you bear down. “It hurts—it burns!” you yell, tears stinging your eyes.
Addison nods, her lips pressing a soft kiss to your temple. “I know, sweetheart. That’s the ring of fire. You’re so close. You’re doing amazing.”
Arizona’s voice cuts through the haze of pain. “The baby’s crowning. Just a few more pushes, and we’ll see her head.”
You cry out, the effort and the pain almost too much, but Addison’s voice grounds you. “You’re so strong. You’re a badass, remember? You’ve got this.”
Callie glances down instinctively, her curiosity getting the better of her, and you catch her out of the corner of your eye.
“Callie!” you snap, through clenched teeth. “You’re my best friend, you’ve seen me drunk, you’ve seen me half naked but You’re not supposed to see my baby’s head between my legs!”
Callie holds her hands up in mock surrender, her face breaking into a grin despite your glare. “Hey, I was just checking the progress! It’s impressive!”
Addison stifles a laugh, squeezing your hand as you bear down again. Arizona’s calm voice fills the room. “The head’s out! One more big push, and we’ll have the shoulders.”
"Addie I don't know if I can do this, I'm so tired."
"Darling you are so close, just one more… one more, let’s meet our baby girl."
"Addison..." you whimpered, before gritting your teeth together to start pushing.
You groan, tears streaming down your face as you muster every ounce of strength left in your body. Finally, Arizona’s voice rings out. “The shoulders are out!”
Then after a few pushes, whispered curses and lots of different emotions, the sound you’ve been waiting for—your baby’s first cry, loud and strong, fills the room, you hold a beautiful baby girl against your chest, she already has a full head of reddish hair, her eyes blue with just the slightest tint of green coming through them.
“You did so good mama, I’m so proud of you.” Addison said, watching you as you held your daughter.
“She’s gorgeous…” you whispered, taking in the lovestruck feeling.
“Just like her mommy’s.” Arizona said coming in to check on you one last time, a bright smile pulling across her face, Callie followed behind to check on you.
“Mm..” you chuckled, “thank you Arizona, for taking care of our girl.”
“Oh you know I would do anything for you, both of you.”
“Well next time a little heads up would be nice, and next time no operating rooms that close to the due date.”
“But…” you whined out, “and who said about next time?”
“Oh y'all make gorgeous and brilliant babies there will definitely be a next time.”
“gorgeous and brilliant, you hear that little one…” you whispered softly down to you baby as she cooed back up at you.
“I’d say if we’re not careful we’re gonna have a world class surgeon on our hands.” Addison beamed down with a smile before kissing your lips.
“Mm knowing y’all’s brains, you’re gonna have genius babies…” Callie said and you all laughed together as they exited to give you the room.
"Hmm are you gonna be a little genius baby?" you cooed down at the infant in your arms, before smiling back up at Addison, she was in awe and placed a loving kiss to your lips.
"So long as they aren't as daring as their mother..."
"Oh hush, it keeps you guessing..." you said teasing back.
"Something like that" she smiled down at you
