♡ THE BOYZ AS YOUR FIRST KISS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing — the boyz x reader
genre — fluff, romance, humor
warnings — could be seen as suggestive in some.
note — hehe~ i’ve been a lot more active these days since school’s over!!

Tumblr media
SANGYEON | after-date kiss
this man is so prepared. He had it all planned out in his head. The date was perfect; your conversations were amazing and the chemistry oozed out naturally. After he paid for the meal (despite you insisting that you split the bill instead), he drove you back to your house. Holding your hand as you’re about to part, he worked up the courage to give you a cheek kiss—but oh gosh, he was so nervous! Thankfully he had you, who gave him one small peck in his lips, before running into your house with a laugh, leaving him in shock. Safe to say he left your driveway with a dumb smile on his face!
JOONYOUNG | late night walk kiss
after going out for a hangout with a few friends, Jacob offered to walk you home as your houses were on the same direction. One convenience store stop later and you’ve both taken a detour to walk on the sidewalk. Oh, how he thought you were absolutely gorgeous. Even with your tired eyes, messy hair, and cakey makeup that was screaming to you to be taken off. Sensing his stare, you hit him with the “What? Is there something on my face?” And so he replied with the clichĂ© “you’re beautiful.” Next thing you know, you’re both kissing underneath a lamppost in the starry night.
YOUNGHOON | for the job kiss
the actor you were working with was handsome. you got casted as the female lead and he—the male lead. Today, you were going to film the kiss scene. “Nervous?” He asked. “A bit.” You replied. It was fake—all for the job, of course, but why did it make your heart flutter so much? The director gave you a signal, and to your fortune—you did good. Just as the director gave you guys a cut, the handsome man leaned in your ear, whispering, “Just so you know, I wouldn’t mind for us to do it again off camera.”
JAEHYUN | during the movie kiss
Hyunjae had been such a sweetheart. Asking you for time after school, he brought you to the mall. He bought you some tteokbokki and drinks, and then brought you to the cinema to watch some newly released romance movie. The movie was great, by the way! The casts were amazing, the shots were beautiful, the plot was interesting, and the boy beside you was staring at you with heart eyes! Wait—what? You turned to the side to look at Hyunjae, both staring at each other before you naturally leaned in, a kiss being shared as the stars of the movie had their happy ending.
JUYEON | childhood kiss
you remember the day your boyfriend and you first met. baby you and Juyeon were in the same daycare. Another kid had taken your toy shovel, making you let out a cry of sadness. Baby Juyeon was a knight in shining armor, scolding the bullies and taking your shovel back. He had cooly crouched down with you wiping your tears with his baby hands before giving you your shovel back. Your tears stopped, and Juyeon had appeared to become the most handsome man in your eyes ever since. You thanked him by slapping your hands in his cheeks, before pulling him for a kissy kiss!!
HYUNGSEO | i love you kiss
you both were best friends. Yet, friends don’t do such things. Friends don’t stare at each other for too long, friends don’t have lingering touches. Just today, you slept over his house because you stayed for too long the other night, making it ‘too late’ to go home in Kevin’s eyes. Reaching a conclusion, you went down to where Kevin was making breakfast. “Good mor—” “Kevin, do you like me?” He stopped cooking to look at you, before answering you, “Truthfully, I do—no, actually, I love you.” You wasted no more time, pulling his face to yours for a kiss.
CHANHEE | in the pool kiss
taking a sip from your glass of wine, you put it back on the edge of the pool. giggling as you see Chanhee’s impatient expression, you quickly came to him, hooking your arms around his shoulder as his fall on your bare waist. Only the sounds of the water in the pool resonated as it was now too late for humankind. You both look at each other in the eyes, before moving closer to each other. “May I?” He asks softly, biting his plump bottom lip. You nodded, and soon enough; your lips connected as you shared a soft and sweet kiss.
CHANGMIN | thank you kiss
the sounds of synchronized steps echoed the practice room as the song came to an end. Changmin had offered to help you with a step you were confused with, and so here you are; doing extra practice in the middle of the night. You both grabbed a drink, pants echoing the room. “I think we’re done with practice—you were great just now. We should go home since it’s late.” He said. You nodded, grabbing your bag before you turned off the electricity and left the room together. “Thank you for staying and helping me, Changmin. I’ll see you tomorrow.” You gave him a peck, before leaving. Only when you reached your humble abode did you realize that you didn’t kiss his cheek.
HAKNYEON | shared chocolate kiss
sitting in a bench after going to the convenience store with Haknyeon, you both unwrapped your drinks. Sipping on the matcha milk, Hak nudged you. “Care for some chocolate?” He asked. You said yes undoubtedly. Imagine the shock on your face when; rather than giving you a piece, he put half on his mouth and held your nape, pulling you in for a kiss. You instinctively opened your mouth to bite the chocolate, lips pressing against each other in the process. After pulling away, the damn menace then proceeded to act as if it was nothing and focused back on his food, leaving you in a blushing mess.
SUNWOO | shutting one up kiss
being friends with a cowardly tease can be fun sometimes. They’d act all flirty and bold, making the other a flustered mess. Yet, they become the flustered mess the moment a hint of teasing is retaliated. It was really fun. Especially given the way your best friend, Sunwoo, was blushing. The day started off in annoyance as his teasing was endless. So you replied with a “if you don’t shut up, I’ll kiss you.” Flustered but not wanting to lose his cool, Sunwoo started singing lalalas. So, you kissed him, shutting him up.
YOUNGJAE | the accidental kiss
let’s be for real. this over-thinker would be way too pussy to actually kiss you outside of his own imagination. So it’s either you that have to initiate it or it happened accidentally. In this case, it happened accidentally. Basically, we all know how clumsy he is, right? Well, he tripped and fell on your lips. Scrambling up in a hurry, the both of you started to apologize to each other. Gosh, what a way to meet, right? Who’d guess that one question and three weeks was all it took for a non accidental second kiss.

Confessions by the campfire
Joon-yeong X reader
Tumblr media
A/N: this is mostly self indulgent. Also gonna ignore canon, in my fluff stories everyone lives and ends up happy 😌
Warning: cursing, being called stupid but in a joking way
Summary: Joon-yeong has liked Y/N for a while but they're too oblivious to realised that. When the group has time to relax he finally uses this opportunity to confess
After we all finished creating the SOS sign we decided to spend our nights relaxing by a campfire. A much needed break that's for sure. During this moment of peace, me and the rest of the group reflect on past experience while also allowing ourselves to confess things we never had the chance to before.
Joon-yeong who's sitting next to me suddenly coughed, adjusting his glasses and gulping nervously before he speaks up "seeing how we're all letting our thoughts out, I figure it's about time I finally say this but..." He looks at me hesitantly as I nod encouragingly at him "we're all friends here, you don't have to tell us if you don't want to but you also have nothing to fear" I smiled. After a few seconds he gathered his courage and finally said something "well actually.....I wanted to confess that i actually like someone"
To say I was surprised was an understatement, we've been friends for ages and yet I never knew this? "...shit really?" I shook off my suprise and smacked his leg playfully "yah why didn't you ever tell me? Do I know who they are?" I can't help but be curious. Dae-su snorts "yah I thought I was bad, but Y/N-ah you're a lot more stupid then me" i can feel my face turning red as i looked around at the others, half of them were just trying their best to hold their laugh in "Wait, wait, do you guys know who he likes?" No answer, just slight giggling from Dae-su and Woo-jin "seriously, does everyone know except for me??"
"Y/N-ah" Joon-yeong grabs my hand as I looked at him "huh? What?" Joon-yeong stares, trying his best to look as confident as he could "It's you" "...what does that mean?" I questioned as he sighed realising I still don't get it "Y/N...you're the one I like" I stare at him not being able to process what he said "you like...me?" I asked wondering if I heard him right "I like you Y/N, my feelings for you kept growing each day we were friends. I just never had the confidence to confess, not until now atleast"
I looked away from him, smiling to myself "once we get out of here safely I'll take you out on fancy date, just you wait..." I elbowed his shoulder excitedly "oh and i really like you too Joon-yeong...actually can you come with me for a sec? I just don't want to do this in front of the others" I laughed awkwardly, he looks at me slightly confused but agreed anyways. Getting up with me, we walked towards the roof ledge looking towards the sky. For a life so shit like ours, the stars do look beautiful tonight, it's even more beautiful when the man you've fallen in love with is right beside you.
"Hey Joon-yeong, now that we confessed and all that stuff...can I kiss you? Only if you allow me to" I asked, fiddling with my school uniform "you can. I've been thinking about this moment for a while now actually, wondering if one day you'll like me back...I'm just so happy to hear that you do" he whispered softly caressing my cheek before pulling me into kiss. I tugged on his uniform trying to bring him closer to me as he snakes his hand onto my waist. Parting from the kiss I looked at him slowly becoming more embarrassed by the second "I'm sorry, I don't exactly know how to kiss someone so if that was horrible just forget about it-" "Y/N it's fine, it was actually really nice. I liked it" he says reassuringly. He takes a hold of my hand as we walk back towards the group.
"yah when the time comes, you two better invite us all to the wedding" Dae-su warns jokingly as Woo-jin cheers next to him. Sitting down I smile at everyone feeling incredibly happy at this moment.
Everything is nice

ps i love you | oh joonyeong
pairing: gn!reader x joonyeong
genre: fluff
Tumblr media
it's been a few months since you started dating joonyeong and it was still just as magical to spend time with him.
the two of you always shared special moments like going on dates or holding hands while walking.
everyone in your friend group knew you were dating - it was so obvious. they found out because of the way joonyeong looked at you.
dae-su was the one to ask if you two were dating. that question left joonyeong flustered so you had to answer the question honestly.
the whole group was happy for you which made you happy.
they always teased you about your relationship and everything, whether it was a tiny touch of the hand or even when you two sat near each other.
you found it funny and so did joonyeong.
right now you were currently in class. you finished your work and was now writing joonyeong a letter just for fun.
dear joonyeong - i finished my work before you !! hahahaha! anyway let's get food after school. - love your wonderful partner, ps - i love you
you happily folded up your letter and tapped dae-su on the shoulder. "pass this to joonyeong." you whispered.
dae-su nodded and took the note from you which was a mistake. he unfolded the note which made you hit the desk a little too loud out of annoyance.
everyone glanced your way so you picked up your pencil and pretended to work.
dae-su soon leaned back and whispered. "why must you two always flirt in class?"
"just pass it to him!' you whisper-yelled.
"y/n! get back to your work." your science teacher said.
"yes, sir.." you looked back at your finished work and sighed.
it was now the end of the day and you were outside waiting for everyone.
"joon-yeong, your lover wanted me to deliver this note before." dae-su said, passing the note to joonyeong.
"did you read it?' joonyeong asked as he unfolded the note.
"...perhaps." dae-su grinned.
joonyeong laughed and shook his head before reading the note over. "yes, let's go get some food."
"what about us?" dae-su asked.
"we'll eat together another time." joonyeong smiled before taking your hand and walking away.
later on you two were eating and talking about everything that happened today.
"is this why the teacher yelled at you?" joonyeong asked.
"yeah and because i was talking to dae-su." you said, shoving a piece of food in your mouth.
"well, p.s i love you too."

“You really weren’t lying when you said there would be ten boys.”
“Ten chaotic boys,” you correct, shutting the door behind you when you enter the playroom. There you could see all of them chasing each other, aside from Sangyeon and Joonyoung. The two were playing with dolls and action figures, making up a story while mindlessly ignoring the other kids nearly running over one another. “But why would I lie?”
He shrugs, arms crossed tightly over his chest as he watches the kids, making no effort to stop their violence. “Just seems unlikely that you wouldn’t end up with at least one girl here.”
“Small town, I guess.” While Changmin stood around and did nothing, you went over to untangle Sunwoo’s fingers from Chanhee’s hair, apologizing each time Chanhee cried out of pain.
“Right.” He watches you from afar, analyzing the way you handled the situation and allowed them to carry on with their chaos. “How do you even manage?”
“Honestly?” Your feet walk themselves back over to where you were standing with Changmin previously, accompanying him. “I don’t,” you respond casually. Only then did the adults notice Youngjae chasing Hyunjae towards you two, a plastic toy train being held in his hand as he charged towards the elder boy.
“TEACHER CHANGMINNNN!!” Hyunjae screeches, begging for help as he ducks behind the male’s long legs in order to avoid the toddler.
Changmin just stands there, watching how Youngjae’s waddles come to a stop before shooting a smile up at the teacher ever so innocently. He waves the toy train up in the air for Changmin, showing it off. “Look!!”
Not knowing what to do, Changmin looks over at you, wanting you to control the situation at hand. He could feel Hyunjae wrap his arms around his legs, planting the teacher into the ground while letting out repeated whines about Youngjae chasing him. By now, you already had walked away to watch the scene unfold from across the room, amused with the predicament Changmin was brought into.
“Uhm, Youngjae,” he starts, turning back to the newly four year old in front of him, crouching down to talk to him properly. The young boy lightens up at him and his train being acknowledged by the new teacher, presenting the toy to him by holding it out in his hands. Hyunjae, on the other hand, resumes hiding behind Changmin, his arms wrapped around his back as he peeks his head out from the side, eyeing the boy that had just terrorized him seconds before.
“Youngjae,” he repeats, slowly taking the toy train out of his hands. “We shouldn’t, uh, chase other kids with toy trains and say you’re going to run them over with it
” His cheeks flush up, truly unsure if he had handled the situation correctly.
Meanwhile, you burst out laughing, making all the kids look at you for only a millisecond before resuming whatever they were doing previously. Youngjae is pouting, his bottom lip jutted out as much as it could, and yet surprisingly, he hasn’t started crying, nodding to show that he understood.
Satisfied, Changmin hands the toy back to the boy, giving him a small pat on his head. It takes a second for it to hit that everything from Youngjae was an act, Hyungseo becoming the boy’s next target.
It makes your burst of laughter return, especially when Changmin’s face drops at the sight of Youngjae tackling Hyungseo while ramming his train into the poor kid’s cheek.
“Well, at least you got him to stop doing it to Hyunjae,” you comfort.

A Little into You (Junkyu x Reader) (Ch. 9)
Chapter 9 - A step further.
Word count: 3k words
Genre: Fanfiction, PG13, Comedy, Romance.
A/N: Hi! Here’s Chapter 9! Thank you so much for waiting, and I really hope you all love this one 😀🧡
Now, it had been three weeks since you last met any of the Treasure members since you all had that lunch at the Japanese Restaurant. What’s that? Did you read that right?
Yes, it’s been three weeks.
And by now, the group chat that you and the 5 members have, had already expanded after Yedam added in the rest of the group in there.
This was your first time being in a group chat with these many people. Aside from your office’s group chat of course.
So one day whilst at work, you received a text from the Treasure group you were in.
 Chatroom:
Junkyu: Yeorobun~ Jihoon is asking if you all want to get some IKEA meatballs after today’s schedule!
Hyunsuk: Oh? But we’re finishing quite late today. Are you sure they’re still open late at night?
Junkyu: Oh. Right. @Jihoon Hey! Why did you recommend IKEA?? You know they don’t open after 11pm!
Jihoon: 😂😂😂 I knew they don’t.
Junkyu: ???? Then? Why’d you tell me to ask the group about it??
Jeongwoo: 😂😂 Junkyu-hyung

Jihoon: I just like messing with you. Besides, you chatted the group with y/n in it so
. 😏
Y/n:
.are you guys okay
.
You smiled to yourself reading the chat again. It was silly, yet, amusing. You sort of missed talking to your new friends to be honest.
“Y/n, Mr Bae is looking for you,” your colleague, Soomin said, making you stop looking at your phone.
“Oh? Oh, right. I’ll go to him now,” You said as you got up from your seat.
Soomin nodded and went back to her desk not far from yours.
                                                               *
Jihoon was grabbing himself a cup of water from the practice room’s water dispenser when he heard his best friend yell from behind him.
“YAH! PARK JIHOON! What’d you do that for???” Junkyu huffed, as he entered the door of the room.
Jihoon chuckled and drank his water before setting the cup down and facing his best friend.
“What? I didn’t do much?”
“Yahhhh, that was so embarrassing!” Junkyu exclaimed, as he ruffles his hair.
“Hm? What? Hey, I only asked you to ask the rest about IKEA and you were the one who chatted the wrong group,” Jihoon stated matter-of-factly.
“We need to change the group’s name! Y/n must think I’m dumb now,” Junkyu said, pouting.
“Sure, sure, we can change it later. We can write it as Treasure x Y/n. How’s that? Sounds like a collaboration, right?” Jihoon snickered as he pulls out his phone from his pocket.
“Whatever, as long as I don’t have to embarrass myself anymore,”
“Hmm?” Jihoon hummed. “Since when do you care about what y/n thinks of you, huh?”
“I-I don’t! I just don’t want to appear dumb, that’s all,” Junkyu stuttered slightly.
Jihoon grinned at him, “Sure, Junkyu.”
“Hey!” Hyunsuk’s voice appeared as he entered the practice room.
Both Jihoon and Junkyu turned to see who it was.
“You guys are early today. Your vocal training ended early?” Hyunsuk asked as he headed towards where Jihoon was, grabbing himself a cup of water from the water dispenser as well.
Both Jihoon and Junkyu nodded at his question.
Hyunsuk gulped down his drink, disposed the cup and walked to the middle of the room. There, he sat down and gestured the rest to sit with him.
“What are you both doing standing there? Come, sit! You should get proper leg rest before we start dancing later on,”
Junkyu and Jihoon went towards him and sat with him.
“So
what do you guys want for dinner tonight? Minus the IKEA idea of course,” Hyunsuk said.
Jihoon giggled when he saw Junkyu tense up from the word IKEA.
“No, noo! I didn’t mean it that way Junkyu,” Hyunsuk said, laughing a little. “Really though, where do you all want to order from for dinner?”
“I’m fine with whatever you guys are having,” Jihoon said.
“You guys want to gather in one dorm and just eat altogether there?” Hyunsuk asked, now scrolling his phone, searching for a suitable food menu for dinner.
“Sure, sounds okay with me,” Junkyu said. He tugged on the string of his pink treasure hoodie, realising that the strings were uneven.
“Ahh,” Jihoon stretched his arms out before laying down on the floor. “Hmm. Hey, Junkyu, do you want to invite y/n as well?”
Junkyu choked on his own saliva hearing Jihoon mention your name again. “Wh-what??”
Jihoon and Hyunsuk started laughing out loud.
“Hey, Jihoon, stop teasing Junkyu like that. He’ll hit us both later if you keep doing that to him,”
“Yeah! Why are you always mentioning her name here, huh? If you want to invite her so bad, why don’t you do it, huh?” Junkyu huffed as well.
Jihoon got up and sat back up properly. “Hey, don’t say that. I just might really invite her, you know,” he smirked at his two friends there.
“But y/n doesn’t know where we live? And I don’t think the rest are ready to reveal where we live to her too. I mean, we’ve only known her for what, a month or two?” Hyunsuk wondered aloud.
Jihoon shook his head. “Who says it has to be at our dorms?”
“Oh? Then, where?” Junkyu asked, extreme confusion portrayed on his face.
Jihoon smiled, showing his eye smile at his friends. “I’ll take care of it. Just find us some good food for takeout tonight,”
                                                                *
“I don’t think that’s necessary Mr Bae,” you said, shaking your head from the idea he mentioned before you.
“Oh come on, y/n! You’ve been working here for over a year! It’s only reasonable you get promoted to do something else,” he said.
You kept quiet. Truthfully, you didn’t think you deserved any promotion at all. A raise in your salary? Maybe yes to that, but a new post?
Your eyes were kept lowered, as you stare at your thighs as you stay seated opposite Mr Bae’s desk.
Mr Bae is the president of the company, and yes, he is your teacher’s son. This was the man who gladly took you in to work with him when his mother was worried what would become of you when you missed your college entrance exam.
“Y/n,”
Your eyes lifted to look at him. “Yes”
“My mother would have wanted this for you too, you know.”
“I
I don’t know, Mr Bae,”
“What’s stopping you? Tell me,”
You shifted uncomfortably in the big chair you’re sitting in. You picked your fingers as you began thinking whether you should voice your concerns to your boss.
“Y/n?”
You inhaled deeply before letting out a deep sigh.
“Alright, fine. You caught me. I am worried. I feel like I don’t deserve this because first, I am the youngest person here, and to be promoted into an important team of the company just makes it seem fishy, don’t you think so? Besides, what’s everyone gonna say when they find out that I’m given that post when in reality all I have is a high school certificate??”
Your president grinned at this. This was the first time you have ever said anything this much to him. You had always been quiet around the people in this company, and seeing you rant out your concerns somewhat eases him.
Mr Bae leaned back into his tall, leather office chair. “Hmm. That’s it? That was all you’re worried about?”
You shook your head in disbelief. How could your president see this as a small matter? You were anxious about this, and yet he was so calm about it.
“Mr Bae, you don’t understand—”
“Please, call me Joonyoung. Or Joon for short. You’re my mother’s friend, and to be frank, our age isn’t that far apart, no?”
Your eyes narrowed at this, “Correction; I was your mother’s student. And, you’re literally 8 years older than I am so—”
Joonyoung laughed at this, clearly amused by you. “Alright, that’s fine, y/n. I’d understand why you’d benchmark yourself. You are indeed, way younger than I am,”
“Yes, indeed,” you huffed.
“But I still think you should accept the promotion,”
You scoffed. “Look, I told you, I am already concerned abou—”
“Soomin recommended you to be in her team too, you know,” he interrupted you before you could nag at him about your reasonings again.
That made you stop. You straightened your posture in your seat.
“S-soomin-eonnie? The one who seats not far in front of me in the office?”
“Yeah. She’s been asking for you to be on her comms team couple of times now, actually. I just didn’t want to push you before this because I knew you would refuse, with your ‘I am only a high school graduate’ excuse,” he said, adding quote marks when he mentioned your excuse.
“But
why?” You asked, confused.
Surely, Soomin is the only person you’ve interacted most in the office, and she’s quite young too, around 6 years older than you. But your interactions with her were mostly work-based. You were in charge of designing brochures, pamphlets, slides, creating reading materials and such for her and her team.
Whereas for Soomin, she was the leader in her unit, the Comms Team; they call it. What her team does was, they would go out on trips to other companies and provide a lecture or meeting for staffs and brief them on how they can incorporate and learn English language for their staff and companies. Sounds easy but it’s a handful once you’ve experienced the pressure of meeting people all around the city.
“So..?” Joonyoung’s voice broke you from your string of thoughts.
“Will you join Soomin? She’s been talking about how helpful you were to her and she felt bad that you were stuck doing all the computer work in the office.” Joonyoung got up from his seat and decided to peek outside his office’s window.
“She said that she felt like you had more potential than just being a person who sits at her desk and doing all mini jobs for everyone else in the office,”
“H-hey! That’s not true! I have students too,” you added, not wanting to make it seem like your job was that pitiful.
Joonyoung turned to look at you now. “Please, y/n, your students are the 3 staff that will soon be leaving to be relocated into Karako W’s office,”
You pouted. You almost forgot about the merge your boss had secured almost a month ago.
“So, let’s just say yes, shall we?” he smiled at you.
You let out a sigh.
“Great! I’ll take that as a yes!” he said happily. “I’ll let my mother know about this, she’ll be happy for you,”
“Sure
”
“Oh come on y/n, cheer up! You’re getting a promotion and a raise! Anyone would be happy to be in your shoes!”
You groaned. “Anyone but me,”
“Hey, at least now in your new post, you get to visit other big companies and collaborate with them,” he smiled, still convincing you.
You blinked a few times. You wondered if you ever got a chance to visit YGE’s company as well?
                                                                    *
You got back to your desk to see your phone buzzing non-stop. You hurried to sit down and looked at it closely.
4 new messages from Jihoon TRSR
“Huh? Jihoon-ssi?” you muttered to yourself.
Just as you were about to open the messages, your phone started buzzing again in your hands, but this time it was a heavy buzz since it was a call.
Panicked, you answered it without looking at the screen.
“Hello?” You answered, slightly whispering since you didn’t want to disrupt the quiet atmosphere in your office.
“Y/n! Quick! I need help!” Jihoon’s voice, rang in your ears, all panicked.
“What? Why? What’s wrong Jihoon?” you felt your forehead creasing, now that you heard his panicked voice. Did something bad happen to them?
“Y/n, please. You gotta help us. The management
Jaehyuk
”
“What, what?? What’s going on??” Your tone in your voice rose, now that you were anxious to know what happened. But Jihoon wouldn’t complete his sentences!
“Please, I’ll tell you all about it later. But you gotta help me, help us, please?” he pleaded through the phone.
You took a deep breath and exhaled. Your eyes dart around the office to see if anyone was watching you. None. Coast clear.
“Alright, Jihoon. What can I do for you?”
                                                                 *
“Bingo!” Jihoon said happily, once he got off the phonecall with you.
The rest of the group looked at him and wondered what he was so happy about.
Jihoon walked to his spot in the choreography formation and did some light stretches since he took a short break to call you just now.
“Hey, Hoon, what are you so happy about, huh?” Hyunsuk said, as he noticed his friend’s beaming reflection from the room’s mirror.
“Nah, I’m just happy about tonight, that’s all,” Jihoon answered, his bright smile still plastered on his face.
“Ookay
”
“Speaking of which, have you decided what to buy for tonight’s dinner?” Jihoon asked Hyunsuk back.
“Oh, I asked the rest and they said they wanted pizza. That good for tonight?”
“Sounds great! And I’ve got the perfect place for us to eat too, tonight!”
Doyoung clapped his hands at this, “Wahhh hyung, both you and Hyunsuk are really treating us really well tonight, huh? What’s the special occasion?” he asked.
“Oh nothing, it’s just for all your hard work today,” Jihoon answered happily.
“Yayyyy! We’re having pizza tonight!” Junghwan cheered happily.
“Oh yeah, where are we going to have dinner tonight? Hyunsuk-hyung’s dorm?” Jaehyuk asked.
Jihoon winked at his dongsaengs. “It’s a surprise.”
                                                                  *
 (Y/n’s Apartment – Nighttime)
 “Eonnie! Eonnie!” you called out.
Your sister’s breathing was ragged and heavy. Like she was suffocating badly.
You got up from your chair beside her bed and ran outside the room, hoping to bump into a doctor who wasn’t busy at the time.
You found one not far from the nurse’s counter, and you grabbed him by the arm.
“Doctor! Please, please, my sister—” you shook your head and gestured him to follow you.
When both you and the doctor arrived in your sister’s room, she was already shaking in her bed, her breathing more ragged now.
The doctor rushed in and checked your sister’s vitals and eyes.
“She’s having a seizure! Nurses, hurry!” he called out loudly.
Soon, you saw two to three nurses rush in to help the doctor.
You stood by the doorframe, holding on to it, as if you were going to fall if you ever let go.
You watched as they tried to tend to your sister and your tears wouldn’t stop flowing down your cheeks. You were sobbing on your own now, watching needles being poked into your sister’s delicate skin again.
You shook your head over and over again, sobbing.
Please don’t leave me, eonnie. Please.
You woke up from your sleep, panting.
You sat up in your bed slowly, trying to regain yourself.
It was a dream. It was only a dream.
You sniffled to yourself. You realised your cheeks were wet and you proceeded to wipe them on the sleeves of your shirt.
“Ah shucks. I can’t believe I cried in my sleep,” you mumbled to yourself.
Eeeeeekkk.
Your eyes widened. What was that? Did you hear wrongly? Or was it really a chair moving?
You gulped. You grabbed your phone on your nightstand and checked the time.
11.37 pm.
You frowned to yourself. Just how early did you fall asleep?
You kept quiet a little longer, just to see if there were any more noises.
A good whole minute passed by. No noise.
“Huh, I must be imagining things,” you assured yourself.
You were about to pull your covers over yourself again when you heard it again.
EEEEeeeeeekkkkk. Eeek.
That sounded like two chairs. Or specifically, the sound of the chair in your kitchen makes because you fairly remember how it sounds like ever since you removed the carpet underneath the chairs to be washed the other day.
Your heart raced. You slowly got up from your bed, slipped on your room slippers and slowly made your way towards the door.
You didn’t open your bedroom door or anything, since you didn’t have the courage to do so. But you pressed your ear against it, just in case you could hear anything.
“What are we doing here, hyung? Aren’t we trespassing?”
“Nah, we’re not. Believe me, this is legal,”
“But she’s not here. She’s probably asleep already,”
“Yeah, hyung, we should leave. This isn’t right,”
“Oh come on you all, she could be curled up in bed reading a book. Who the heck sleeps this early??”
You could your own breathing growing louder. Are there trespassers in your house??
Who should you call? Should you call the police?
Your head turned to look at your phone that you left on your nightstand. You decided to go over there to take it when suddenly you heard the doorknob getting turned.
This is crazy! You were in your pajamas and you didn’t have any weapon on you! Heck, you didn’t have your phone with you right now too!
You decided to just brace yourself and just throw in a hasty punch at whoever this trespasser is. The nerve! How dare they come into your home this time of the night?!
Just then, the door creaked open and you hurriedly pounced on the trespasser, making you both fall to the floor. Your eyes were shut as you swing your arms to punch the person but then you felt a hand grabbing your arm, making you freeze in your spot.
“Whoa! Easy there, cutie. What are you all feisty about?” a familiar voice spoke out.
Huh? That voice.
You opened your eyes to see
.Jihoon laying on the floor beneath you, whereas his waist was trapped in between your thighs.
His hand was still holding on to your arm that was raised up earlier.
You furrowed your eyebrows. “Jihoon?? What are you doing here??”
“Aaahhh! I think I just saw something I shouldn’t be seeing!” You heard another voice screaming not far from you.
You lift your head to see who it was, and there it was
.the rest of the familiar faces you know
all looking at both you and Jihoon with shocked looks.
  To be continued...

what you do to me
pairing: bae joonyoung x reader
summary: your best friend, jacob, has a blind date. you know you should be happy for him but why do you find yourself forcing out smiles and frowning as you help him prepare.
Tumblr media
———✧: *✧———
“what’s an ideal date idea?”
a frown made its way onto your face and you turned towards jacob with a shrug. ”i don’t know. a movie never fails though.”
he shook his head, sighing. “i don’t want that. that’s too normal. what would you want?”
you rolled your eyes, turning your attention back to your phone as you kicked your legs up and rested them on your desk. you leaned back on your chair and sighed. “shouldn’t you be asking your date that?”
“i’m going on a blind date. i want to surprise her.”
“oh.” you felt a pang in your heart and you forced a smile. “i think a movie would be fine. i’d like a movie for the first date; five feet apart is showing.”
he looked up from his phone. “is that a good-for-a-date movie?”
you shrugged, avoiding his gaze. “it’s romantic. don’t girls want that?”
“do you—”
you gave him a look. “you know me, i love romantic movies.”
“right,” he nodded, checking his watch. “i should probably get going.”
you tried to look unfazed, waving him off just like you tried to wave off the odd sensation that grew in your stomach. “yeah, i’ll see you later.”
upon reaching the door to his room, he turned around. “aren’t you coming with me?”
you widened your eyes, pointing towards yourself. “me? why?”
he shrugged, “i’m a little nervous. moral support?”
you raised an eyebrow, skeptical. he gave you a sheepish grin, causing your sigh but you stood up anyway, following him out. “where are you meeting her?”
“in the city. by the seven-eleven near the cinemas.”
you nodded silently, walking by him with your arms crossed as you made your way to the city. you tried to convey your annoyance through your body language but you couldn’t help but feel curious.
who set him up and with who?
he caught you by surprise when he suddenly blurted out that he had a date through a phone call last night and that he needed help to prepare.
you reached the city in no time and you stood awkwardly beside jacob as he waited for his date to arrive. you completely underestimated him when he mentioned he was nervous.
upon arriving, he continually wiped his palms on his jeans, pacing back and forth slightly. his hair became disheveled and he was couldn’t stop fidgesting with his phone.
you frowned, looking away, trying to turn your attention to something other than figuring out the girl who’s making him act this way.
after a few moments, you figured his date would be arriving soon so you needed to leave, but not before attempting to calm him down. “jacob, i think i need to go. she might get the wrong idea if she sees me standing next to you.”
jacob’s eyes widened but you continued. “maybe, take some deep breaths so you don’t look like you just ran a marathon.”
as you turned to leave, he reached out and grasped your hand. “wait!”
slightly irritated, you faced him again with furrowed eyebrows. you were waiting for a girl that would date your best friend, you should’ve been happy but you weren’t. and you wanted to be anywhere but there. “jacob, seriously. i—”
“this date–this blind date–um,” jacob interrupted, rubbing the back of his neck. “it’s
well
wanna go on a date with me?”
you blinked, trying to process what he asked. “what?”
he grinned sheepishly, giving a laugh. “this date is for you.”
still processing what he said, you stared at him, jacob taking your silence as a sign to continue. “i’ve had a crush on you for who knows how long but i was too scared to change the way things were. and now i’m asking you out on a date and i’m so nervous so please say something.”
you chuckled softly, giving him a hug. “that’s why you were so nervous? you were sweating and fidgeting all over the place.”
you pulled back and he gave you a smile. “that’s what you do to me.”
you rolled your eyes. “i feel the same way about you, you dork. and if you wanted a date, all you had to do was say the three magic words.”
jacob raised an eyebrow, humming. “i love you?”
you blinked before a smile broke out onto your face and you pushed him softly. “wow, that was a big step. i was thinking of ‘i like you’.”
he nodded, grinning. he took your hand carefully in his as he dragged you towards the cinemas. “ah, those three words. i was between ‘i love you’ and ‘i got food’. with you, i’ll never know which one is right.”

boom {military!jungkook} pt. 1
Pairing: BTS Jeon Jungkook x Reader
Word count: 3.2k (pt 1 + 2)
Genre: smut
Kink(s): daddy!jungkook, dom!jungkook, sub!reader, high school sweetheart au, military au
part two
Jungkook’s heart pounded as he rounded the corner of his neighborhood’s jogging trail, glancing down at his watch to see it had just struck 5AM and the sun had finished rising. Deciding to head home, he sped up to a run and smiled to himself, thinking about what today was.
His shirt stuck to his sweaty chest as he chugged a water bottle after entering his house and walking into the kitchen. His tired roommate shuffled in and starts a pot of coffee.
“Still on military schedule?” Jimin yawns.
“Yeah,” Jungkook wipes water from the corner of his lips, “I mean, I’m going back in three weeks, I can’t lose shape now.”
Jimin shrugs and pulls an apple out of the fruit bowl, biting into it, “Your high school reunion is today, you going?”
Jungkook nods, taking another swig of water, “Yep, it’s weird to think it’s been five years since I graduated.”
Jimin bobs his head in agreement, thinking about his last reunion with his colleagues from high school, and reminisces on the good old days.
-
After a shower, Jungkook is sitting in his room, contemplating on wearing his civilian clothes or his work uniform. Which would make the girls swoon harder? Which would make that asshole Joonyoung eat his words for calling him weak? He pulls out whatever matches and calls it done.
He drives himself to the bar the reunion would be held at approximately 1900 military time and parks, sitting there for a few moments before sighing and getting out.
Jesus, he thinks to himself, why am I so fucking nervous? He wipes his hands on his pant legs before opening the entrance door to the bar.
“Jungkook!” one of his acquaintances from grade 11 comes up and takes him by the shoulders, “My, my, my, looks like we have a military man in the house. Hey, Y/N, get a load of this!”
You turn and look over your shoulder, spying a very built man in a very hot outfit, an army green tee shirt pulled tight over the expanse of a muscular chest, under a black bomber jacket, coupled with ACU trousers and military style boots. A man in uniform always got you going and seeing that Jeon Jungkook himself was that uniformed man, you practically drooled.
You two were a thing senior year, the old rumors that he had a crush on you, and you had one on him, circulated back to the both of you. He worked up enough courage to ask you to prom and you accepted wholeheartedly. Even now, you thought about him from time to time, your first love.
Still, dating was hard for you since you spent most of your time as a resident surgeon in the hospital, but you’d gladly make time for him
 if he asked you to.
Jungkook’s eyes widened when he saw you, your hair cascading over your bare shoulders under the dim bar lighting seemed almost intimate. Your face and body had matured, but when you walked over to say hello, you still had that voice like honey.
He melted a bit inside and gulped before replying, “Oh, hey, Y/N. I didn’t expect to see you here.”
You pout over dramatically, “Aw, really? I was hoping you were as excited as me to see each other again.”
Jungkook clears his throat and shakes his head furiously, “No, not like that, I’m just so surprised that you could make it since you’re at the hospital now. I assumed you’d be too busy to attend and-”
Your laugh interrupts his rambling, the sound calming Jungkook’s nerves, but also making him hot under his collar, “I was joking, Kookie.”
The nickname makes him pause and he smiles softly, looking like the young guy you knew in high school, “I haven’t been called that in so long.”
You smile back shyly, “Well, how have you been? Military man, all big and bad, any USO sweethearts catch your eye?”
“Uh, not really. To be honest, you were the last relationship I had before going off to boot camp.” Jungkook says, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment.
You’re taken aback by this statement, having dated at least 3 other men since high school, you can’t believe a hottie like Jungkook didn’t get snatched up, “Really? How is that possible? Are all the female cadets blind?”
He shrugs and shakes his head, “No time off means no time for a girlfriend. This month is my first break since starting.”
“Jesus, how are you not crazy?” you raise an eyebrow, “Surely the service has had an impact on your mental and physical health!”
Jungkook chuckles, “Now you’re rambling. I’ve been fine, all of the work has been pretty tame after getting out of training. I do a lot of overseas stuff, but no active combat for now.”
“Wow, all paperwork and sitting behind a desk, but you have a body like this? I’m surprised, Kookie, I never took you for a meathead.” you joke and punch his arm, playfully cradling your hand in fake pain.
“You stand in an operating room but still have time to look like that, how am I any different?” he raises an eyebrow back and smirk, gesturing to your physique.
Having chosen an off the shoulder, baby blue dress that exposed your lean, long legs that were still toned from regular barre workouts.
You hold a hand to your mouth, “Have you been checking me out, Mr. Jeon?”
“Have you been checking me out?” he mocks you.
“To be honest, very much yes.” you reply simply, winking sneakily.
Jungkook smiles wider and laughs a little, “At least buy me a drink before undressing me with your eyes.”
“Is that all it takes to get you naked? Bartender!” you half joke.
Suddenly, as your conversation was just getting interesting, your ex-class president steps to the bar’s small stage to deliver some stupid speech.
You’re distracted the entire time, watching Jungkook the entire time through your peripheral and sometimes flat out glancing at him. You had both taken seats on the barstools, sitting side by side, but you had both angled towards each other while talking.
While you were supposed to listen to the speech, like Jungkook dutifully was, you studied him. His jaw had become more pronounced and sharper, his smile more charming and less bunny-like, his stare wasn’t one of an awestruck teenage boy and more like one of a man who knows exactly what he wants.
Your eyes trail down his body and focus in on his thighs, contained under those heavy pants that strained over the thickest parts of his legs. His arms rested at his sides, his hands seeming so erotic even though they were just his fucking hands. Somehow, you were turned on just by that.
Unconciously, you press your thighs together, the action not going unnoticed by the man next to you, Jungkook’s eyes flickering to the movement. He looks down at your legs and back up to your face, seeing you had been staring at him, biting your lip.
Your unabashed effort to thoroughly check him out struck him as sexy. He enjoyed knowing you found him attractive and smiled to himself before going back to listening to people talk about high school memories.
-
Some times passes and you’re calmly talking to your girl friends that you had maintained over the years after attending college together. Jungkook floated off to talk to his past friends and was casually sipping on a beer. You played with your straw in your rum and coke while still roaming your eyes over his body, fully taking in how good he looked just standing there.
“Yoo-hoo, anyone in there?” you friend, Jennie, asked, waving a hand in front of your face.
You jumped and turned to look at them, “What? Sorry, I’m kind of tired so I’m distracted.”
“Oh, please,” Yeri says, “we all know you’re wide awake and ogling at Jeon Jungkook’s fine ass.”
“You are completely right.” you reply, tipping back the rest of your alcohol, “But, the question is, how do I get him in my bed.”
The two nod and tap their chins, thinking, “Well,” Jennie says, “you could just flirt with him and I’m sure he’d accept. You two dated in high school and looked pretty interested in each other earlier, just go for it.”
“Yeah,” Yeri agrees, “he’s in the palm of your hand, go over there and get some.”
With encouragement from your friends, you saunter over to Jungkook as he’s leaning against the bar, waiting for another drink, “Oh, hello again.”
“Hey,” you grin and lean in to talk to him, “so, I was thinking.”
“Uh oh,” he smiles back, “what kind of trouble will we get into?”
“The good kind.” you say with a wink.
Jungkook’s eyes widen, bemused, and he leans in expectantly, “And what does that mean?”
You cross your arms, pushing up your breasts, “You know exactly what that mean, Jeon.”
Jungkook smirks, “I think I need you to explain it to me.”
Rolling your eyes, you stand on tip-toes to whisper in his ear, “Will you fuck me?”

"Let's go home"
A Joon-yeong X gender neutral!reader fic
Tumblr media
A/N: not proof read btw!! Also my main hobby isn't writing so if it sucks I'm sorry. Feedback is appreciated tho. Also the names might not be the most correct spelling, but that's because I've see some people spell their names differently
Warning: contains spoilers and obviously mentions of death blood and zombies.
Genre: sweet angst babey
Summary: you're one of the zombie-human hybrid that lives among the group, because of that you often expect yourself to be able to save everyone, that is until the zombies become too much to handle and your lover Joon young gets bitten
You leaned on the wall as you watch Joon-yeong and the senior start debating on what's the better choice. "What about them, what do they think?" Mi-jin said pointing at me "Y/N, what do you think? Option 1 or option 2?" Joon-yeong asked, looking at his eyes I could tell he wanted me to root for him "listen, all I know is that whatever option we choose I'll be outside making sure the zombies don't get too close, so...it doesn't really matter what I choose" I shrugged.
Seeing how Joon-yeong and Mi-jin couldn't come to an agreement, we decided to have a vote instead. As the others finished voting, option 1 was chosen as we immediately started to build our wall of defense so we could do a final push for the exit.
"will you really be okay alone out there?" On-jo asked worriedly "of course I will, you guys better take care of yourself too however, there's a lot of those fellas out there" I said smiling as to not make others worry. "Y/N is strong, I trust them, plus if anything goes wrong I'll take responsibility for it" Joon-young said as they all finished preparing the wall
As the others are pushing inside the barrier, you hurriedly grab the zombies by their shirt and dragging them away from the group. But even then it started to become tiring as more of them kept climbing the barrier. You started yelling to try and attract the zombies but even then they still focused on the others.
You were helping the other side when Mi-jin suddenly got caught by the zombie, it felt like time slowed down as you approach Mi-jin, seeing Joon-yeong getting his hand bitten while trying to fend it off long enough until you came and helped.
You could barely keep up with what's happening, tired from using all your strength dragging the zombies away as Joon-yeong goes over the barrier to help you with clearing the rest of them.
"LETS GO HOME" Joon-yeong yelled as he helped pushed the barrier alongside you, the others watched and cried as they realized what's happening and they started to push harder towards the exit.
"GO, I'LL CATCH UP WITH YOU GUYS" you yell at the others as they slowly make their way outside.
Kicking away all the zombies, you kneel down on the floor to look at Joon young who's crying from the bite wounds "no no no no, please you can't die now, you were so close please don't" you cried holding him closer "please" you kept repeating despite knowing there was nothing you can do to save him "Y/N look at me, take care of yourself and the others for me alright?" He choked out finding it incredibly harder to form words "please go find safety, go find a place you can call home" he sobbed
"I wish we could've done more while we're together Joon-yeong" you hugged him harder as you feel him starting to twitch uncontrollably "thank you Y/N..." He mumbled as he started to turn. But you didn't care, all you wished for was for everything to go back to normal. Back to when you both would stay up all night studying in your bed cracking jokes along the way, back to when he would try to impress you with his knowledge, back to when he was still alive.
You slowly let go of him and got up, as an already turned Joon-yeong sniffs the air before walking around aimlessly. Walking towards the exit you look back just one last time, before you finally went out.
You don't understand why, why the virus decided to make you a hybrid but killed him. It's just so unfair. But that doesn't matter, all you know now is that you'll work harder to protect the others and to finally go home like he would've wanted

freesia | oneshot
Tumblr media
⟶  pairing: jungkook x reader ⟶  word count: 7.2k ⟶  ♫ : take you home - baekhyun, good morning - kassy, freesia - bolbbalgan4 ⟶  themes & genres: childhood friends to lovers!au, semi-bad boy!jk | fluff ⟶  warnings: none ⟶  synopsis:
Just about all of Jungkook’s life had been spent in an endless cycle of smothering you with flowers in a silent confession, but you never seem to get it.
(You did. Eventually.)
The beginnings of the fickle emotion we adoringly call love had always been tricky; the concept being like a handful of sleek sand your palm could never really grasp. They say it hits you out of nowhere, but for Jungkook, love was all he ever knew—especially when it came to you.
.
First.
“Jeon Jungkook! Kim Taehyung! Be good boys and go back to your seats,” Ms. Ryu, ever as gentle as Jungkook could remember, ushers the two six-year-olds towards their tiny plastic stools, a soft smile adorning her equally soft features.
“But Miss—,” the adorably mischievous rascal by the name of Kim Taehyung protests, “We were in a middle of a competition—”
Fixated on trying to prove his point, his stubby fingers reach for the nearest drinking straw he could find (which just happened to be the straw Mina was in the midst of drinking milk from), before triumphantly shoving it up his nostril, “See? I was winning.”
Even at six years old, Jungkook knew a bluff when he saw one.
“Tae’s lying,” He speaks matter-of-factly before turning to his best friend, “Mommy says lying is bad.”
And because even at six years old, Jungkook was already cultivating his somewhat competitive streak, he immediately proceeded to pluck the drinking straw right out of Seulgi’s tiny fists, pushing it as far up his nose as humanely possible.
Taehyung wasn’t one to back down from a challenge either, and before Ms. Ryu could interrupt with another one of her thinly veiled threats to take away their juice boxes, a hesitant knock on the door has all heads snapping up to look to the entrance of the bright classroom.
“Hello?”
Mellifluous. Euphonious. Dulcet. Years later, Jungkook would be able to describe the sound of your voice to a tee, but for now the only word that could come to mind was pretty.
Jungkook would also later come to recognize the absurd fluttering in his chest as infatuation, but at present, he could only stare open-mouthed at your doe eyes and your fluffy locks whilst you stared back at the boy with just about three straws stuffed into each nostril.
“Children, we have a new student joining us,” Ms. Ryu announced, having only just pried the boys apart moments prior, “Why don’t you introduce yourself, honey?”
“I’m Y/N, and I’ll be in your care from now on,” You were probably reciting the phrase you had rehearsed approximately five hundred times in your head, but that doesn’t change the fact that Jungkook was positively enthralled, his wide eyes never once leaving your small frame.
It was with mortification that Future Jungkook would look back on your first meeting, because silly little Jungkook was too captivated to bother taking the goddamn straws out of his nose, not even when you perched yourself daintily onto the seat next to his (the only free seat available) and shot him a polite (if not obligatory) smile as the both of you got ready for Art class.
And the ensuing Art class saw Jungkook frantically trying his might at drawing flowers, because his mom was a girl and his mom liked the flowers his dad periodically gave her and thus the obvious conclusion was that girls liked flowers, and he decided he liked you.
Yet, little did he know that he had been graced with a sneak peek into his future when you breezily eased over the drawing that embodied his affection, only to pass it on to Ms. Ryu because you had understandingly misunderstood his shy silence.
Of course, six-year-old Jungkook had been too bashful to say anything.
As a result, his drawing of a lone flower would eventually find itself onto the pastel blue of the classroom noticeboard, put up for display because the teachers wouldn’t stop marveling over its apparent artistry.
It had been a single white freesia; symbolic of innocence and purity, a flower commonplace on school grounds.
A flower that would subsequently symbolize Jungkook’s countless years of yearning, and your countless years of oblivion.
.
Second.
“5
3
2
and
1!”
It was the 13th game of Hide and Seek just for recess break alone, but no one had any objections against that, because they were all a bunch of six year olds, and six year olds loved Hide and Seek with a burning passion.
Joonyoung, notorious for being the most savage out of all the kids in your kindergarten (as savage as a six year old could be anyway), was It this time; which was honestly a little frightening because if Jungkook thought he had a competitive streak, it was nothing compared to his.
It has been a couple of weeks since your transfer, and like every other kid out there, your ability to adapt was outstanding and soon enough, you knew every nook and cranny of the kindergarten almost as well as you knew your alphabet.
This translates to you successfully emerging the victor in the past twelve games, having found a foolproof hiding spot that guarantees your lack of visibility—a shadowed area between the supply closet and the storage room, adjacent to the edge of the mini flower garden behind the classrooms.
As you sat there hugging your knees to your chest, trying your hardest to diminish your size as much as possible, you realized that the view that greeted you was a gem in itself.
White, white, a whole field of white.
And it was beautiful; astounding even.
So captivating, in fact, that you hadn’t even noticed the arrival of the doe-eyed brunette you knew as Jeon Jungkook, breathless and panting, up until he half-whispered, “Y/N!”
“Wha—”
“Shhh, Joonyoung’s done counting.”
He sure was quick to hush you when he was the one hollering your name like no one’s business, but was nonetheless still trying to squeeze himself into that narrow groove next to the supply closet—the very same one you were already suffocating in.
You decide that Jeon Jungkook’s harmless enough, borderline idiotic shenanigans aside, and shuffle to make space for the excitable boy (whom miraculously quietens down every time he was around you, for reasons your six-year-old self was not yet sure of).
Quietude settles in peacefully, until—
“Do you like those
um
freeeshas?” He speaks first, squinting hard at those wooden signboards stuck next to every flower. Jungkook was more observant than people usually gave him credit for, after all, and he caught the faint glee in your dark irises when you were busy gazing into the never-ending field of white.
“They’re pretty.” your reply was plain, simple, and straight to the point; Jungkook likes it more than he should.
“I’ll give them to you, this entiiiire field of freeeshas.”
Maybe you were both being childish, like the children you were, but you bought it with a toothy grin anyway, “Okay, this is ours from now on.”
And now whenever you think back to your days back in kindergarten, only hot summer afternoons spent huddling next to overgrown weeds, along with the image of strikingly white petals and a boy with a bunny smile, would surface.
.
Third.
“Kookie, I’ll miss you,” Taehyung was downright howling by this point, the endless streaks of thick tears pooling at the collar of his mini graduation robe, staining the vermillion color an even darker shade of crimson.
Jungkook was not amused. Six-year-old Jungkook was not easily amused (and this holds true even in the present).
“Tae,” He started calmly, small hands holding tightly onto the handmade farewell bouquet he was planning on surprising you with, “We’re going to the same elementary school.”
Then the tiny rascal straight up whips around to face you head on, whining, “Y/N, I’ll miss you.”
“Jungkookie,” It was your turn to scoff lightly, “We’re all going to the same elementary school.”
“Oh.”
The bouquet sits untouched for the rest of the graduation ceremony, and Jungkook only remembers that he hadn’t actually handed it to you when he was already snugly under his comforter, after he had wished his mother a good night.
“Oh.”
.
Fourth.
“Y/N, um, I really like you.”
The sun was halfway through its trek in the azure sky, but the classroom was long empty; third graders get off school pretty early after all.
A minute shift of your head and you could see the light from the windows behind dancing vividly all across Jungkook’s features, leaving reddish tints on his dark head of hair and soft glows on the curve of his cheeks.
“I like you too?” The words left you with a questioning glance. To you, Jeon Jungkook embodied many wonderful things; things like binge watching your favorite cartoons side by side while wrapped snugly in blankets in the dead of winter, playing catch for 3 hours straight (he always won), hogging your older brother’s game console together, the list goes on.
But of many things, Jeon Jungkook was not one to confess something random out of the blue.
“Really?”
You didn’t really understand why he was asking with such a hopelessly hopeful look drawn across his features, but you tried to reassure him anyway, “Of course, wouldn’t it be weird if I didn’t like you for all the three years we’ve been friends?”
Again, you didn’t understand why Jungkook simply deflated right there and then, and you couldn’t quite decipher the taut smile on his lips either.
“Yeah, I know right? Weird.”
Before you could call him out on the way his face was twisting in ways you never thought possible, he swiftly places something in your outstretched palm, before bounding to the doorway as if everything was back to normal again, “Come on, let’s go get ice cream.”
You looked down at the foreign object, fingers clasping curiously around its stems.
Flowers.
.
Fifth.
“You know, our parents are going to kill us,” You nonchalantly remarked, “And if they do, I’m going to haunt your grave.”
“That’s comforting to hear,” Jungkook, armed with an expression of reciprocal indifference, responds with a shrug.
“You’re impossible, you know that?”
At that, he smiles as if he was in on some big secret, before speaking so quietly you weren’t sure if you heard him right, “So are you.”
“What does that even mean—”
“Just hurry up already.”
Thirteen years of age—you both were at that point of time in your lives where hormones were gearing up to lead a wild rampage all around, and suddenly you weren’t quite the same little girl as you were seven years ago. Likewise, Jungkook wasn’t quite the same cheeky boy you had the pleasure of growing up with ever since you saw him with straws up his nostrils; no, he had grown to be even cheekier, and judging from how he was currently trying to haul your ass up the night bus, he was pushier too.
“Let loose a little, I promise it’ll be worth it,” He says, now comfortably in the seat next to yours, his voice a mere accompaniment to the subdued rumbling of the bus engine.
“It’d better be,” Giving in with a huff of resignation, you reclined further in the hard bus seat, throwing your best friend a mock glare while you were at it, “Though I don’t see why we have to do this at night.”
“Ah, Y/N, you’re no fun, sneaking out is all part of the thrill.”
You don’t look at him, opting to get some shut-eye instead of getting yourself riled up over the infuriating and outrageously reckless nature of Jeon Jungkook, “Sure, whatever you say, you bad boy wannabe.”
He has the audacity to gasp as if your comment had deeply wounded his pride, “I’m the real deal, don’t you ever forget that.”
Tuning him out as you usually did whenever he started to go off tangent, you allow the lassitude of the day to seep into your tired skin, artfully maneuvering his arm such that it served as the perfect headrest. In a habitual fashion, Jungkook twists his torso to accommodate yours whilst melodramatically muttering ‘be still, my heart’ and fervently praying that you wouldn’t be able to hear the fierce palpitations.
A bad boy indeed, that was Jeon Jungkook, the very one who had been harboring a crush on his best friend for about seven years and counting, without even the notion of confessing to you present in that mind of his (not after your ‘rejection’ back in third grade).
Sighing, he turns to gaze out the window unfocusedly.
***
“Jeon.”
“Y/N.”
“Jungkook.”
“It scares me when you say my name like that.”
Your exhale clouds the already misty night air, exasperation very clearly eased into all of your features, “I can’t believe you got us lost.”
“We aren’t lost,” Says Jungkook as he stands forlornly between a couple of trees and a bush, the last of any source of light deserting him along with whatever map he had on his dying phone. In your pocket sat your phone, which had been very uncooperative ever since its screen had shattered an hour ago when you had scrambled to clamber off the bus in your languid state.
“At least try to say that more convincingly, you idiot.”
Only a sheepish grin crosses his lips, not that you could actually see, because it was so dark and there weren’t even any streetlights, for some insane reason.
“I swear it’s here somewhere,” The brunette inexorably treads into the vast unknown of more greenery (unknown because it was pitch black and you literally couldn’t see anything), muttering under his breath.
Without a word, your hand slipped right into his, like it had been made for each other all along (or at least that’s what Jungkook likes to think); you’d always done that whenever you were feeling uneasy, though that doesn’t mean Jungkook doesn’t hyperventilate whenever he feels your thumb digging into his palm.
“Let’s go get out of here.”
***
“I’m gonna kill you right now and dump your body here; wherever we are,” You hiss after a good ten minutes, still clasping onto his hand like it was your lifeline; it sort of was, given how much you hated not being able to see where you were going. The hatred (or maybe it was fear, but you preferred to acknowledge the former) was further amplified given that you were in the middle of nowhere with lifeless lumps of metal for phones.
“You won’t,” Jungkook scoffs, leading the way as he pushes aside the thick branches that were wrestling in order to thwack him in the face (you hope they land a few good hits), “You’re too scared to be alone.”
You contemplate that for a moment, before nodding, “You’re not wrong, but I still hate you.”
“You don’t.”
“Do too.”
“Do not.”
“Do too.”
“It’s here, the place I wanted to show you,” He spoke so abruptly that you had crashed face first into the back of his head (the two of you were pretty similar in height, and it was something you prided yourself on, though you spoke too soon because he eventually left you in the dust thanks to puberty).
“Jeon,” You start gently, “You know I can’t see anything, right?”
That was what you said, but the telltale fragrance of flowers, carried fleetingly by the night breeze, soon infiltrated your senses, and you realized belatedly the reason why the stubborn boy had insisted on taking you here.
It was a field of flowers, very much reminiscent of the (much more scaled down) one of your shared childhood. Your heart swelled with an emotion you couldn’t quite place, but you instead turn your attention to the boy who was nervously awaiting your reaction.
“Aww, Jungkookie,” You couldn’t help but tease, “Did Mr. Bad Boy here miss our childhood?”
“You’re really ruining the moment.”
Flitting out his snide comment was an easy feat, especially since it was already like second nature to you, “Thanks, for bringing me here. Even if we’re probably going to get grounded for a month.”
Grinning that same unchanged bunny smile, he only murmurs, “I’m glad you like it.”
And then the two of you were simultaneously grounded for the next six weeks. Not that it mattered, because he snuck up to your room everyday anyway, and you push your irregular heartrate aside.
.
Six.
“Wow, Jeon, you got game,” Impressed, you slap your best friend on the back, “Three days more to Valentine’s and you’ve already gotten, what, fifteen love letters?”
“What can I say?” His smirk falters a little, though it goes unseen because you don’t notice little things like that, “Girls love me.”
“Correction: they like the way you look. How many of them have actually talked to you for more than three seconds? Because if they had, they would already be running for the hills,” Shuffling the books around in your locker to source for the notebook reserved for your nonsensical doodles, you were about to panic when Jungkook, otherwise known as the devil himself, magically materialized it from the pile of books in his arms.
“Looking for this?” With the most taunting smile plastered on his face, he purposefully lifts the minimalistic notebook way out of your reach, taking full advantage of the (more than) a couple of inches he had on you.
Gasping, you glared at your supposed best friend, “How’d you get that?”
“You left it at my place yesterday,” Irritatingly, he was still dangling the notebook in the air, just about high enough for you to brush the edges with your fingertips.
So close, yet so far.
“Before I give it back, answer me: am I or am I not the most charming guy you’ve ever met?” The (not so) little shit was almost relentless whenever he wanted something; a trait that occasionally gets on your nerves.
“Yes, yes of course you are. Consider me charmed,” Deadpanning with your straightest face, you continue reaching for the notebook that was still hopelessly an inch or two from your outstretched fingers.
“More charming than this Seokjin guy?”
A beat passes before you understood what he meant, and you let out an inhumane shriek, startling the mass of students all around.
“Jeon Jungkook, you went through my notebook?”
The carmine dotting your cheeks was so unbearably adorable, but Jungkook only feels a dull pang in his chest. Still, the shit-eating grin on his face doesn’t give away anything, “We’ve only just entered high school, and you’re already crushing on a senior?”
“Yeah, go ahead, Jeon, let the whole world know.”
“Aw, Y/N, there’s nothing to get all shy about.”
Or so he says, but it hurts, and Jungkook wants nothing more but to scream.
Oblivious like always, you churn out something resembling an explanation, “He’s just a senior, and we talk sometimes during theatre and stuff, I’m sorry I hadn’t told you earlier okay? It’s just
embarrassing and I feel like some lovestruck six year old.”
You were rambling, and Jungkook hated that you were rambling, because you rarely lose yourself like that. He hated that you had that flushed look on your face, because it wasn’t for him, and it wasn’t ever for him, and yes, he had heard of Kim Seokjin, the gorgeous (and borderline unreal) senior who had recently snagged the role of Prince Charming in the school’s adaptation of Snow White. And yes, he had heard that he was absolutely enraptured by a freshman in theatre—you. Not that he was going to let you know that juicy little tidbit anytime soon.
Suddenly sullen, Jungkook only hands over your notebook (you decide to burn it the minute you get home) without even putting up a fight, stalking off before you could even say anything to his retreating back.
***
Along with a small pile of chocolates, you open your locker on the following Friday morning to find a mini bouquet of roses perched daintily atop your Chemistry textbook, and next to it, a lone freesia sits patiently.
The singular freesia was from Jungkook, you knew that without question because he gives you one every year without fail, and this year wouldn’t have been any different. ‘To commemorate our friendship’, was the rationale seven year old Jungkook had conveniently offered after you caught him trying to sneak the flower under your desk at school.
The roses, however, were a different story.
And so, at fifteen years old, you got your first boyfriend, and honestly you don’t remember much happening in that year aside from you constantly being high in the clouds.
Shortly after, Jungkook got his first girlfriend; a pretty girl with a cute smile and a tendency to make plans that effectively clashed with all the ones he made with you. They didn’t last long, and neither did the twenty odd others that followed.
You never asked why; you never wanted to.
.
Seven.
“Stop crying.”
“I’ll cry whenever I fucking want.”
Bawling. Wailing. Sweating from your tear ducts. Whatever you called it, it didn’t matter when you were sprawled out on your bedroom floor, blotching half the carpet with your tears.
Stepping gingerly over your form before crouching down sympathetically next to you, your best friend pads a thumb over your tear-stained cheeks, “You know that wasn’t what I meant.”
“It hurts, it hurts, it hurts,” Sobbing near hysterically, you hiccup through every sentence you coughed out, “I wish I hadn’t joined theatre back in freshman year, I wish I hadn’t had that stupid crush. I wouldn’t have, if I’d known how painful it was.”
Now sitting upright and no longer an amorphous blob on the floor, you continue whining into the nook of the familiar shoulder, the scent of laundry detergent comforting to your distressed state of mind.
“No, you would have, because you’d have regretted it otherwise,” Combing through your hair with his fingers, Jungkook absent-mindedly remarked, his words enveloping you in what’s equivalent to a warm blanket on a freezing night, and you pull him closer.
It does hurt, Jungkook knows that for certain. The same way it had hurt when your relationship with boy wonder Kim Seokjin continued flourishing even after a year and the next, the same way it did whenever he saw your face light up with the most radiant of smiles the moment you get a text from your long-distance boyfriend. As such, he couldn’t fathom how much it would have hurt for you to have stayed rooted in high school while Seokjin ventured out into the world and all the freedom college had to offer. He hadn’t cheated on you, no, he was never that kind of man, because Jungkook would have bashed his head in otherwise.
It wasn’t anything, really, for Seokjin had simply fell out of love.
The relationship had spanned three years only to come to a dwindling halt, and Jungkook aches for the pain you must feel having to long for someone who had moved on without you.
“You sound somewhat sad, for someone who’s never been in love before.” You speak after a long pause.
“Who says I haven’t?”
“Wha—”
Only throwing you a coy smile in place of the previously reassuring one, Jungkook huffs resolutely before pulling you to your feet, “Come on, let’s go.”
“Where?”
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
***
If there’s one thing about Jeon Jungkook, is that he never breaks a promise.
In this case, the promise he made good on was the whole bad boy thing he was determined to carry through throughout his teenage years. As proof, his shiny Harley-Davidson stood before the both of you, glinting under the midday sun.
“Get on,” The bad boy himself gestures to the pretty contraption, much to your surprise.
“Are you serious? Didn’t Solar break things off with you last week because you refused to let her ride with you?” Imploring the sudden but kind offer, you tilt your head in a silent question, but what you don’t know was that just your gaze was enough for Jungkook to give you his entire world and beyond, brand new motorbike or whatever be damned.
But a simple ‘you’re different’ tumbled from his slightly chapped lips instead, and it had apparently sufficed because you hoisted yourself up immediately, “Talk about perks of being your best friend, I’ve always wanted to ride on one of these.”
“You could’ve just asked me, Y/N, you know I’d do anything for your homemade cookies,” His words were a little muffled as he fumbled about for his helmet, letting out a triumphant noise when he finally grabbed ahold of it and in one swift motion, placed it over your messy head of hair.
“You were going around calling it your baby and whatnot, so I didn’t want to take a chance.”
His fingers fasten the clasp of the helmet expertly, his eyes softening before “you look like a bobble head” leaves the mouth he needs to learn how to shut.
“Just a friendly reminder that I’m still heartbroken and distraught, thanks very much.”
He only shrugs, like he did five years back when you were both thirteen and stupid (mostly him), and revs up the engine, “Sit tight.”
Your hands were locked around his waist, the thin material of his white t-shirt bunching up where your hold was, and Jungkook hoped his thundering heartbeat wasn’t as audible to you as it was to him before speeding off.
***
“It’s amazing, it’s as if going around claiming a bunch of plants as our own is our thing,” Exclaiming, you proceeded to tug on Jungkook’s sleeve as you weaved your way through the same field of flowers from five years ago. He follows without much protest, only pointing out a small clearing in the middle before plopping down on the soft grass and pulling you down next to him.
“No one ever comes here, so it’s ours,” He says simply.
“What, are you going to give this ‘entiiiiiire field of freeeeshas’ to me?” Your teasing voice sounded faraway in the rough summer wind ruffling your hair into disarray, and Jungkook’s gaze lingers too long on the pink hues of your lips.
“I’d give you anything, you just need to ask.”
Shit, he’s really done it now. It was rare for an insult to not be dripping from Jungkook’s every word; you’d definitely catch on and find out that your best friend of more than a decade had been in love with you all this while and—
“Bitch, you said that yourself so I’ll be holding that against you from now on,” You cackle after a beat passes, not surprising because you couldn’t see Jungkook’s entire face crumpling from where you were facing.
Of course you hadn’t realized, he should have known. It’s been a whopping twelve years; you would have caught on ages ago if you were ever going to.
“Thanks Jeon,” He faintly registers you saying, “I guess I feel a little less heartbroken.”
He wished he could say the same for himself.
Yet, if he had stopped to look a little closer, he would have noticed the wondrous smile you were sending his way.
.
He lost count. Jungkook was never great with numbers.
By this point, Jungkook had desensitized himself to how dense you could possibly be.
“What’s with the fancy restaurant? I thought we were going out for dinner,” There you were, dressed in your favorite pair of sweatpants and an oversized hoodie (Jungkook tries not to be too overjoyed at the fact that it was his, because knowing you, you probably hadn’t realized), situated at the entrance of some posh and probably overpriced Italian restaurant, and you were as confused as ever.
And by this point, Jungkook doesn’t even attempt to retain any semblance of his diminishing dignity, instead just wordlessly shoving the bouquet he had prepared earlier into your arms. Yes, he’s very well aware that he had prepared so many bouquets in all of his nineteen years that he may as well drop out of college to be a goddamn florist.
“We are. That’s why we’re at a restaurant, you dimwit.”
You glanced down at his semi-formal clothes and how his dress shirt was crisp and white and ironed, before looking back down at your crummy sneakers, “Jeon Jungkook dressed in something apart from a white tee and jeans, who would have thought. What’s the occasion?”
Jungkook sighs, though not with exasperation, since he had already preempted the kind of reaction you would have, which was exactly this: you didn’t have much of a reaction apart from being confounded, because you didn’t get it. Not the first time he had to resist the urge to knock some sense into that thick skull of yours, although, the urge to kiss you senseless does come around a lot more often.
After having (awkwardly) consulted his dorm mate, girls extraordinaire and self-proclaimed player Park Jimin, Jungkook had been fully convinced that asking you out on a date would be the solution to all his problems. Maybe all it takes was a date for you to finally take a hint, because common sense dictates that a date meant that there were some romantic feelings involved; not that you had brain cells to begin with, because here you were, expecting to grab dinner at some fast food joint even when Jungkook had explicitly (and painfully) spluttered out the word ‘date’ (after which he fell off your bed blushing).
He did not sign himself up for this.
.
A hundredth. Give and take a few.
“Jungkook, you’re drunk. Go home.” Hands flailing in a scramble to support the swaying mass of muscle (also known as Jeon Jungkook, and also known as the Ultimate Lightweight), you nearly holler at the inebriated boy who was currently busy fumbling for the microphone, but Jungkook only smiles crookedly at your mortification.
“No, you’re drunk, baby girl,” He goes on to insist, and he guesses that you would cringe at the pet names he would be spewing out soon enough (it’s a hilarious drunken habit at best), “I’m Jungkook and I’m gonna sing you a love song, so you listen, puffle cheeks.”
“What the fuck.”
The room itself was pretty dark; but it did nothing to mask the odd smile smacked across Jungkook’s otherwise handsome features, and he eyes your reaction as his arm clumsily slops forward to hit the next song on the karaoke machine: a love song unlike any other, Carly Rae Jepson’s ‘I Really Like you’.
“What the fuck.” You say again.
Jungkook was about to frown until he realized you were repeating it mostly to yourself, because there was no one else in the room apart from himself; an idiot who was drunk out of his mind, and he was too preoccupied getting himself into the mood of the song, but not without pitched giggles and some dramatic flair.
Screeching his way throughout most of the verse, drunk Jungkook was also trying his best to blind you with obnoxious winks along the way; not that you would mind, because he knew all of this was going to go on SnapChat for blackmailing purposes.
“Wait for it, wait for it,” Jungkook breathes.
And then he loses it altogether, “I really really really really really really like you!”
Still giggling manically, he drinks in your stupefaction, deriving immense satisfaction from seeing how you could only gawk at whatever shreds of dignity he has left. Yes, Jungkook does understand that he would undoubtedly regret his entire life come morning light, but he doesn’t care. Not when he could literally hit you in the face with a gigantic banner with the words ‘I love you’ on it and it could still go right over your head, and you’d still just see him in a platonic light for the rest of his life and beyond.
Maybe that liquid courage was just what he needed.
“Sweetheart, why’re you so stunned, and dare I say, shook?” Jungkook could hear himself speak, but he had lost control of whatever filter he previously had; this is it now, he was going to spill everything, and then he was going to deal with the consequences whenever, “Hasn’t it been obvious that I’ve been in love with you for the past decade and a half?”
“Jeon, you’re drunk—”
“No, I told you, angel face, I’m not drunk,” Jungkook was desperate by this point, because he didn’t know what else to do, “I’m Jungkook and I’m pretty certain I’ve been in love with you all my life. But you never see it. You never did.”
By now it was getting difficult to gage for your reaction, the ground was shaky and his brain was effectively scrambled, so he takes your lack of input as a green light to continue.
“And I love you, I love you, I love you so much that it hurts to see you look right past me all the time, so please, please listen to me just this once, because I don’t know when I’ll have the courage to say it again.”
The room was getting hazier by the minute. The dim lights were spinning. Heck, there were two of you swimming in Jungkook’s vision, but he continues, because he couldn’t just stop there, “I love you, Y/N, even though you’re a scaredy-cat and you make the most inhumane noises when you sleep and you just suck in general. So won’t you please love me back too?”
This would be the day that Jungkook would look back upon and berate his lack of alcoholic tolerance. He doesn’t hear your reply to his slightly overdramatic confession because surprise surprise, he blacked out before you could even say a word.
***
The aftereffects of a wild night out were never fun to deal with, and Jungkook swears for the billionth time that he would never again try to pretend he could take shots when he obviously couldn’t. The throbbing in his temple was hitting him harder than usual; perhaps from the shock of having all the events that had transpired last night rush back to his consciousness the moment dawn had broken.
“Shit.” Was the only coherent word he could murmur before tumbling off the mattress and onto the familiar carpeted floor he recognized upon first glance.
He was in your room. Of course he was.
Steps languid and heavy, he somehow made the arduous journey from your floor all the way to the hallway without giving in to his persistent migraine. You weren’t anywhere to be found, but Jungkook wasn’t going to wait around just to be humiliated because you probably never wanted to see him again, not after that bold confession out of nowhere.
“Jeon.”
Ah shit. Too late.
Jungkook hates the way his body automatically turns at your call, he hates the way every cell in his body reacts at your every minute gesture, and he resents the way his heart could pick up pace with just your gaze alone. Even the stupid headache he had been nursing seconds ago had been diminished to almost nothing, all because you were here, in the flesh and wearing his sweatshirt (you had already claimed at least a third of his wardrobe, and that had been one of the many clothes you managed to get your hands on).
“Sorrygottagoneedtopee,” Brushing past your helpless form in the doorway of the living room, he all but hightails it out of there, hangover forgotten. As he scurries out the front door with only his Pokemon socks on, Jungkook once again reaffirms that he doesn’t make great life decisions.
***
“You gotta tell her again,” Resident fuckboy Park Jimin remarks as he twirls the dorm’s card key thoughtfully around his index finger, “She sounds kind of dense.”
And because Jeon Jungkook doesn’t make fantastic life decisions, here he was again, back in his dorm and seeking love advice from the one person he knows who doesn’t do love. Park Jimin does have the experience though, Jungkook supposed.
“But how?” Groaning into his palm, Jungkook was this close to tearing his hair out; maybe then the mortification from his drunken confession would disintegrate and he could pretend it never happened.
Jimin shrugs, casting him a pity-filled glance, “Just do it straight to her face, the same way you did last night. Kook, the only reason why this—whatever you call it, hasn’t been working out is probably because you’re just not forward enough. That and you have shitty luck, because she misses all your cues.”
Jungkook groans more because Jimin was probably right. As usual.
“Which is honestly kind of amazing, because wow, fourteen years?” The pink-haired boy continues, disregarding the worsening scowl on his companion’s features.
“Shut up.” Jungkook tries his hand at silencing the older male by hurling a pillow at his head, but it only hits Jimin with a light thump before falling flat on the crummy dorm floor.
“I’m serious, Kook, just go for it,” He goes on to say, “You don’t have anything to lose anymore.”
Jungkook hurls another pillow at him before gruffly agreeing, musing that he didn’t really have another option anyway.
He sighs at the notion of another confession (though sober this time), and the mere thought sent the butterflies flurrying back into the pits of his stomach, but along came a wave of unadulterated determination, and Jungkook hopes he holds on to it long enough.
.
And one last time.
Jungkook was hardly ever nervous. Public speaking? Yeah it was decent, he just has to turn on the charm and it’ll be a breeze. Exams? Jungkook never cared much about grades, he only studied with you whenever he worries that you’d get too caught up in studying and work yourself to death, so there’s that. Girls? Yeah, okay so they were a little intimidating at first, but puberty happened and Jungkook realized they weren’t as terrorizing as he thought. You were the exception of course, you were his exception for everything; you terrorize him with the prospect of heart failure every time you came too close.
So yes, this was the sole moment in Jungkook’s entire twenty years that he felt as if his nerves were going to devour him without mercy on the spot. The spot referring to that same spot he always stood at on your doorstep whenever you took too long to get ready and he gets tired of lying shapelessly on your couch for two hours.
“Hi, so I like you,” Jungkook tries rehearsing, knuckles raised midair before he stops himself.
No, that just sounds ridiculously awkward.
“Good evening, my name is Jungkook and I like you.”
God, he sounds as if he was trying to sell something.
“Hey, I really really really—fuck, you scared me,” Face up in flames before you could even mouth the word ‘seagull’, Jungkook stands unabashed and frozen in position. He doesn’t bother hiding the bouquet he was holding on to, partly because it was fucking gigantic and he would have looked like an idiot if he tried.
Your front door had swung open without any warning whatsoever, but only your trademark glower had greeted him, “You scared me. What’re you doing out here? Also, you left your shoes here, you dumbass, how’d you go home without them?”
If the past fourteen years had amounted to anything, it was Jungkook’s ability to read you like a book. Glowering without much reason to—you had been worried, but you hadn’t wanted to show it. Showering him with a plethora of questions—you were frazzled by his sudden appearance (something that Jungkook would like to revel in for moment longer). That hint of color skimming your cheekbones—you were flustered by something, bashful even.
And so Jungkook’s eyes could only soften, a small smile tugging at his lips, “Were you worried about me?”
“No shit, you run out of my house with only your socks on whilst barely recovering from a hangover, refuse to pick up any calls throughout the course of the entire doorstep, and you’re asking me if I’m worried?”
“Oh god, you’re pissed. Please don’t be pissed.” Or so he says, but he already knew he was forgiven by that brief (though reluctant) nod of yours, “I’m an idiot, I’m sorry.”
And he really was an idiot. Your tousled and messy locks, the oversized Nirvana sweater you wore six days out of seven, your tiny hands and even tinier fingers, your obnoxiously adorable Chip n’ Dale earrings; they were all you. You, who came along and headbutted that boy who made fun of Jungkook’s small frame at seven years old, who cried so loud when Jungkook finally convinced you to watch The Lion King that the neighbors had been concerned, who finished all three cartons of Ben and Jerry’s because you insisted on buying them on sale despite them expiring the day after, who laughed so hard at Jungkook’s first (and last) bowl cut that you teared up; you were all that Jungkook has ever known, all that Jungkook will ever know, you were all that Jungkook has ever loved, and all that Jungkook will love.
Everything had been crystal clear, from beginning to end. From the very moment he had laid eyes on you as a meagre six year old, to the present, where the twenty year old Jeon Jungkook was standing before you with a confession that has yet to leave his lips; it had only ever been you. Nothing could even make this remotely complicated, really, because all he had to do was utter the three magical words, and there had never been any doubt that you would have understood, as you always have, because above all and beyond, you were his best friend and he was yours.
What had he been truly afraid of all this time?
“Y/N,” He starts, a bunny smile already working its way onto his lips, “I’m in love with you.”
With that, he lifts the bouquet (freesias, who would have known) right smack in your face, adoring how your nose scrunches up almost reflexively, “Here’s a bribe, so go out with me?”
Easing the bouquet into your arms and out of your face, you grin up at the endearing boy, whose eyes were crinkled in so much joy they had become crescents, “Sure. Come in, you loser, I ordered pizza.”
“You sure know the way to my heart.”
“Oh, don’t I?”
Jungkook rolls his eyes good-naturedly before tugging off his Iron Man socks, pausing only at the sight of a photograph sitting daintily on the mantelpiece. It was a photo taken back in elementary school, back when you were starring in some school play like the talented asshole you were, while Jungkook had been picked as Tree #3. The two of you were huddled close in the grainy photograph, smiling widely at each other despite the gaps in your teeth and the piercing flash of the camera. Jungkook had seen this photo just about a million times, and he had never ceased to notice the affection and longing dancing beneath his own irises as eleven-year-old Jeon Jungkook looked at you as if you held his entire world.
But what he never noticed was the way your gaze had mirrored his perfectly, almost precisely.
Yet now, it was more pellucid than ever that he was all you’ve ever known, and he would be all you’d ever love.
.
Another.
“Jeon, who’re the flowers for?”
“The dog,” Jungkook deadpans, giving you a blank stare as he looks up from his morning coffee, “Duh, it’s you, who else would it be?”
Silence.
Jungkook finishes the last of his caffeine boost.
More silence.
“It’s for our seventh wedding anniversary today?”
“Oh.”
Some things never change.
