Love in the end, apparently has no end. #Loveintheend #Lacta #Ogilvy 🍫❤️🎬

Happy 87th birthday to Princess Alexandra!
Born on 25 December 1936, Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel; born 25 December 1936) is the only surviving granddaughter of George V and a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II through her father Prince George, Duke of Kent. Alexandra's mother was Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark. At the time of her birth, she was sixth in the line of succession to the British throne; as of 2023, she is 57th.
On 24 April 1963, she married The Hon. Angus James Bruce Ogilvy, at Westminster Abbey. Angus Ogilvy declined the Queen's offer to be created an earl upon marriage, so their children carry no titles. Angus Ogilvy was knighted in 1988 (when Princess Alexandra assumed the style of The Hon. Lady Ogilvy).
Princess Alexandra and Angus Ogilvy had two children, James Robert Bruce Ogilvy (born 29 February 1964) and Marina Victoria Alexandra Ogilvy (born 31 July 1966) and four grandchildren: Flora Ogilvy (29), Alexander Ogilvy (27), Zenouska Mowatt (33) and Christian Mowatt (30).
Beginning in the late 1950s, Princess Alexandra carried out an extensive programme of engagements in support of the Queen, both in the United Kingdom and overseas. Taking part in roughly 120 engagements each year, Princess Alexandra was one of the most active members of the royal family. She made 110 engagements in 2012. However, in late June 2013, she cancelled her engagements due to arthritis.

66 years since the death of HI&RH Princess Helena of Greece and Denmark Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia (29 January 1882 – 13 March 1957). Princess Helena was the only daughter and youngest child of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich of Russia and Duchess Marie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Her husband was Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark and they were both first cousins of Emperor Nicholas II of Russia. They had 3 children : 1)Princess Olga of Greece married Prince Paul of Yugoslavia; 2)Princess Elizabeth of Greece married Count Karl Theodor zu Toerring-Jettenbach, son of Duchess Sophie in Bavaria and scion of an old and rich Bavarian mediatized family; and 3)Princess Marina of Greece married the Prince George, Duke of Kent in November 1934.She was also first cousin of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Queen consort of Denmark and the grandmother of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Honourable Lady Ogilvy, and Prince Michael of Kent. Princess Elena became a widow early in 1938, as Prince Nicholas suffered a heart attack and died suddenly. She remained in Greece throughout the Second World War, dying there in 1957 and she is buried in the Royal Cemetery in Tatoi Royal Estate close Athens. #royal #royalty #royals#greekroyals#greekroyalfamily#danishroyals#danishroyalfamily#queenannemarie#crownprincessmariechantal#princessmariechantal#crownprincepavlos#princepavlos#kingconstantine#princessmarieolympia#princessolympia#princeconstantinealexios#princenikolaos#princesstatiana#princeachileasandreas#princeodysseaskimon#princearistidesstavros #princephilipos #princessnina #princesstheodora#queenofgreece #princessofgreece#princeofgreece #dukeofsparta#kingofgreece https://www.instagram.com/p/CpuKKvLoaa9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Born as Prince George of Wales at York Cottage, Sandringham in 1902, he was the youngest son of George V and Queen Mary and was fifth in line to the throne, behind his father (then the Prince of Wales) and his three brothers Edward (VIII), Albert (George VI) and Henry.
Prince George served with the Royal Navy during the 1920's, and then worked in the Foreign Office and the Home Office. (The only member of the Royal Family to have worked as a Civil Servant, I believe.) He later returned to the Royal Navy, and then served in the RAF.
He was created Duke of Kent, Earl of St Andrews, and Baron Downpatrick in 1934 ahead of his marriage to Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark. They had three children, which you may recognise today... Prince Edward (Duke of Kent), Princess Alexandra (The Hon. Lady Ogilvy) and Prince Michael of Kent.
His private life was rather colourful, to say the least. It is reported that he had several informal sexual relationships with both men and women, before and during his marriage. It is also alleged that he was addicted to morphine and cocaine, although there is only circumstantial evidence to support this rumour.
Prince George's death in 1942 remains somewhat of a mystery. Officially, the Duke of Kent and 14 others were flying in a Short Sunderland Flying Boat to Iceland on "non-operational duties", when the aircraft crashed into Eagle's Rock, a hillside near Dunbeath, Caithness, Scotland. Unofficially, it is reported that the Duke of Kent had a briefcase chained to his wrist which was stuffed full of Swedish Krona banknotes. This cash would have been worthless in Iceland... therefore, it is speculated that they were actually on a secret military mission to Sweden. The reports of events immediately prior to the crash are also a little strange, but I won't go into that now... I have already bored you with a far too long commentary! [Personal note: I was once told by a reliable source that Prince George was one of the original members of The Brotherhood of the Night... a secret society started in the 1920's for "gentlemen who enjoy wild parties." The Brotherhood was disbanded in 1939, and all written records were destroyed. In 1956, The Fellowship of The Full Moon was established by six former members of The Brotherhood. I was invited to join The Fellowship in 1982, and I am now Vice-President. Only one founder member is still alive... and today our organisation raises a lot of money for numerous charities through social events.]

Upcoming Tiaras for 2020
Three of my five tiaras to look forward to for 2019 didn’t end up happening so I’m sorry if I curse any of the following people or events.
Queen Margrethe 80th Birthday Celebrations
Tumblr media
This should be the biggest royal event of the year.  Her 70th birthday celebrations in April 2010 featured three tiara events with royals from all over the world.  I’m really counting on Daisy to pull out all the stops.
Duchess of Sussex’s First State Banquet
Tumblr media
The timing hasn’t worked out for us to see the Duchess of Sussex attend her first state banquet yet so this year will be the first time we see her wear a tiara after her wedding.  I expect her to wear Queen Mary’s Diamond Bandeau Tiara.
Flora Ogilvy’s Wedding Tiara
Tumblr media
Princess Alexandra of Kent’s granddaughter, Flora Ogilvy, is getting married to  Timothy Vesterberg.  My pick for her wedding tiara is the pearl version of the Ogilvy Tiara.
Princess Beatrice’s Wedding Tiara
Tumblr media
Princess Beatrice of York is set to marry Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi this year.  I think she will wear the York Tiara but I have a list of other possible wedding tiaras here.
Some other possible tiaras
Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg’s 20th Jubilee will be in October.  I haven’t heard anything about the celebrations but it would be lovely if they had a tiara event with at least the extended Lux family.
We’re still waiting for Princess Elisabeth of Belgium’s first tiara appearance.  I don’t really expect it to happen until she’s finished with her schooling but it could happen earlier.
I’m not sure what’s going on with Princess Theodora of Greece’s wedding but if she does marry this year we’ll see her wearing the Khedive of Egypt Tiara.
Princess Raiyah of Jordan is also getting married this year but I think it’s unlikely that she will wear a tiara.
What tiara are you most looking forward to in 2020?

‘Her real strength, a friend says, is in her ability to put people at their ease who might otherwise be intimidated by meeting her. “I have seen people quaking with shyness and anticipation,” he said, “and it takes her a matter of five seconds to make them feel absolutely normal. She has the most perfect manners, which are so rare these days.“’
Princess Alexandra, 1980.

Today is 115 years since the birth of HRH Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark Duchess of Kent 13–12–1906
Princess Marina was born on 13 December 1906 in Athens, Greece, during the reign of her paternal grandfather, George I of Greece. She was the third and youngest daughter of Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark, and his wife Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia.
In my opinion she was the most beautiful and stile full member of the Greek Royal dynasty ever
Her father was the third son of George I of Greece and Queen Olga, while her mother was the only daughter of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich and Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia. Her father was a grandson of Christian IX of Denmark, while her mother was a granddaughter of Emperor Alexander II of Russia.
Princess Marina had two elder sisters, Princess Olga and Princess Elizabeth. Princess Olga married Prince Paul of Yugoslavia in 1923. After the assassination of his cousin, Alexander I of Yugoslavia, Paul served as Prince Regent of Yugoslavia from 1934 to 1941. Princess Elizabeth married Carl Theodor, Count of Toeerring-Jettenbach in 1934.One of their paternal uncles was Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark, the father of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (making Marina and her sisters Philip's first cousins)
Marina spent her early years in Greece, and lived with her parents and paternal grandparents at Tatoi Palace. Along with her sisters, she was raised to be devout and religious, which was encouraged by her grandmother, Queen Olga of Greece.Marina's family travelled outside of Greece often, especially during the summer months. Her first recorded visit to Britain was in 1910 after the death of her godfather, Edward VII. She officially met her other godmother and future mother-in-law, Queen Mary, who treated Marina and her sisters like her own children.
The Greek royal family was forced into exile when Marina was 11, following the overthrow of the Greek monarchy. They later moved to Paris, while the Princess stayed with her extended family throughout Europe.
In 1932, Princess Marina and Prince George (later the Duke of Kent), a second cousin through Christian IX of Denmark, met in London.Their betrothal was announced in August 1934.Prince George was created Duke of Kent on 9 October 1934.On 29 November 1934, they married at Westminster Abbey, London. The wedding was a grand affair, as it had been more than ten years since the last royal wedding with Prince Albert, Duke of York, and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. The wedding of Prince George and Princess Marina was the first royal wedding ceremony to be broadcast by wireless, and with the use of other technology, such as microphones.
The wedding was followed by a Greek ceremony in the private chapel at Buckingham Palace, which was converted into an Orthodox chapel for the ceremony. The wedding was the most recent occasion on which a foreign-born princess married into the British Royal Family
The couple had three children:
Prince Edward, Duke of Kent (9 October 1935): he married Katharine Worsley on 8 June 1961. They have three children.
Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy (25 December 1936): she married the Hon. Angus Ogilvy, son of David Ogilvy, 12th Earl of Airlie and Lady Alexandra Coke, on 24 April 1963. They had two children.
Prince Michael of Kent (4 July 1942): he married Baroness Marie Christine von Reibnitz and got two children.
HRH dyed from a brain tumour at Kensington Palace at 11.40 am on 27 August 1968, aged 61.Funeral service for the Princess was held at the St. George's Chapel on 30 August.
She was buried in the Royal Burial Ground, Frogmore. Her funeral was the final royal ceremony attended by her brother-in-law, the former Edward VIII.
Πριγκίπισσα Αλεξάνδρα , The Honourable Lady Ogilvy (25 Δεκεμβρίου 1936): παντρεύτηκε τον Hon. Angus Ogilvy, γιος του David Ogilvy, 12th Earl of Airlie και της Lady Alexandra Coke, στις 24 Απριλίου 1963.
