10) write in silence or with background noise? with people or alone? – Usually with music, alone cuz people kill my buzz

12) your weaknesses as an author – can only write present tense wtf?! Weak verbs. Minimalist af good luck finding long winded descriptions of anything.

14) do you make playlists for your current wips? – I do! I make them for separate chapters sometimes too

16) are there any characters who haunt you? – Haunt me? Not really. Merlin vexes the fuck outta me tho

18) were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? what were they? – I can’t say for sure. I’m terrible at remembering what I’ve read in detail. Doing script writing in school definitely geared me towards conveying stories in character actions and dialogue.

20) do you write in long sit-down sessions or in little spurts? – long sessions mostly, but I do short ones if I have a great idea during a commute or if I need a kickstart

22) are there any subjects that make you uncomfortable to write? – non-con, prostitution, excessive drinking, a shit ton of kinks

24) have you ever become an expert on something you previously knew nothing about, in order to better a scene or a story? – 1300 – 1400 European wedding fashion

1. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.

I’ve written a lot of things, but I’m most comfortable with anything that’s ridiculous and allows for banter? Omission, Blackbird, and You Get Up With Fleas are the archetypes that come to mind.

13. What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?

Ira Glass said some very good things about storytelling: We get into creative work because we have good taste, and there’s a period that everyone goes through where what you’re creating doesn’t live up to your expectations. But your taste is still killer and you have to fight your way through it.

19. Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?

I feel that everyone has a muse in the sense of sudden inspiration that can lead to brilliance. Mine wouldn’t so much be a man in the basement, as a friend that shows up from time to time and gives me cool things before throwing me to into a dumpster. But Stephen King also said something not mentioned in this question: You still have to do the grunt work.

No need to be sorry for not wanting the second movie to be spoiled to you, not at all. I actually admire you for stating it out on your blog, you are very brave. Absolutely! I’ll still be around on tumblr and posting work for the fandom. I just generally wanted people to know that I wouldn’t be interested in supposition or spoiler content until it comes out. Also, so that (hopefully) no one gets offended if I unfollow when they post a lot of untagged sequel related stuff.

Love the idea of Merlin reading trash journalism and binge watching mindless shows to relax. You're giving me all kinds of ideas to have Merlin and Eggsy bond over it. Mean Eggsy collects Sun covers like Harry had and he brings them around for Merlin together after missions so they can both relax a bit. Eggsy stuck in medical to end up binge watching something on netflix with Merlin.

Merlin and Eggsy’s relationship gives me life tbh and I never write enough of it. I can see Eggsy convincing Merlin to marathon Jessica Jones and Daredevil over a weekend, and then a few weeks later, Merlin demands they watch OITNB. Whenever Merlin feels like absolute shit, Eggsy will come over and the two of them will run through a queue of chick flicks because they both have a soft spot for them that no one else is allowed to know about.

How soon would they pick up when Hartwin start going out?

By they, I assume you mean the other Kingsmen? I’m gonna say about four-ish months after Eggsy and Harry start dating. Mostly because no one would notice any difference at first. Eggsy and Harry have constantly lived in each other’s orbit to some degree, so it’s typical to see occasional touches and casual invasion of the other’s space. Harry adjusting Eggsy’s tie, Eggsy brushing something off of Harry’s jacket, these are ordinary things. It’s only after Eggsy and Harry are comfortable enough in their new relationship to express some slight PDA that it actually clicks into place for the other agents and staff. Even then it’s nothing over the top, just a kiss on the cheek when Harry brushes a strand of hair from Eggsy’s brow, occasionally they’re seen holding hands or sharing a brief kiss when they leave for the day. Nothing too outrageous, but also unmistakable.

Do you think Harry really needs glasses to see?

Overall, Harry’s vision is good and he’s just grown used to wearing his Kingsman glasses, so he seldom takes them off. Over the years though, he’s started getting a little far sighted (not a bad thing when he needs to be able to see his target across the room) and finds reading glasses to be helpful for fine print or reading a book. Soon he might need an actual prescription for his glasses, but not quite yet.

What do you think Merlin does to unwind?

At the office, Merlin doesn’t really get much downtime, so when he has a moment he either makes himself some tea or coffee and reads trashy celebrity gossip to unwind. Reading outrageous articles involving the royal family’s latest outing, or some actor’s meltdown, is about as chill and unrelated to work as he can get. Once he gets home, Merlin spends his time with a drink and binge watches shows on netflix. If it’s a weekend and he’s itching to build or code something, he instead goes out and works on the little flower garden he’s started in the yard. It lets him feel productive and use his hands without it inevitably turning into work.

Generally, Merlin’s idea of unwinding is using as little of his brain power as possible.

Who in Kingsman would ship Hartwin?

Merlin would ship it after the initial knee jerk ‘this is going to end badly’ reaction. Roxy probably ships it a bit, but is overall indifferent. Percival and some of the other knights think it’s a little weird, given that they’ve proposed candidates of their own and never felt anything beyond mentor/protege for their charges. Most of the support staff that doesn’t have to deal with Hartwin constantly kinda ship it because they’re very cute. Those that see that ‘cuteness’ all the time are exhausted by it and wish they’d mellow out, but don’t want to deal with the fallout if they break up.

Do you think there are Kingsman chefs?

Probably. I mean, given they’re running an organization full of people working ‘round the clock they at least have to have a kitchen. It’s not like they can all just run a block to the nearest fast food place. And in a manor of that size, it stands to reason that the kitchen would be huge and warrant at least one on call chef, though the staff can probably use it for themselves too.

What kind of fantasy AU would your Hartwin be in?

Oh no... *sweats nervously* I love them all? I’m going with the archetypal fairy tale AU though.

Ultimate fairy tale fantasy AU: Harry as the dashing hero, come to rescue Eggsy and sweep him off his feet (maybe Eggsy is a prince locked away in a guarded castle/tower even, who knows?) only to find that Eggsy doesn’t need a rescuer. He just needs the tools to rescue himself. So when Harry shows up all knight in shining armor, Eggsy’s immediate reaction is to ask him to hand over a weapon of any sort because he will not be some helpless waif, thank you very much. Now let’s get this escape underway. And he and Harry totally kick ass together and ride off into the sunset bickering the whole way because really, Harry should have brought a second horse, and eventually they’ll fall in love.
