Loki leans sideways, tucking one bare foot underneath themselves before turning their attention to their son. Their expression is one of mild confusion. “...so what if you did? It just means you lied twice.” With a shrug, the god raises their cup of tea to black painted lips – but mid mouthful they pause, eyes narrowing with sudden suspicion. “You didn’t say it to your mother did you?”

Warmth blooms in Loki’s chest at Lofn’s thrilled laughter. It is a reminder of their sister-by-marriage’s care for them, another blanket of acceptance wrapping across their shoulders and keeping the god warm. They are wanted, they are loved.

With a haughty upturn of Harbard’s nose, the trickster slips back into character. “Put me in my place? Put me in my place?! I’ll have you know I am exactly where I belong, and where my extremely intelligent insight can be the most valuable... your highness.” With a simpering bow, filled with the kind of reverence many of the Lords and Ladies are full of, in spite of their insistence that they know better than the Queen herself, Loki dips their head. When they rise again, they are back to looking like themself.

“I wouldn’t have to attend any of these meetings if even half of the council had the brains to be occasionally competent.” (It’s a good thing this conversation is happening in the private royal suite, because Sigyn would not thank them for airing this view for just anyone to hear.) “Besides, it was your sister who really put him in his place. She is much more skilled at such ‘diplomatic’ admonishments than I am.”

She should have expected such a response, but the transformation still prompts a surprised, delighted giggle. The moment is so reminiscent of ones Lofn remembers from when she was a child, when Loki's magic was so often the instigating factor in whatever mischief the royal children of Asgard and Vanaheim managed to get up to together. And that has her thinking (not for the first time) about just how glad she is that they are here; not just as part of their court, but as part of their family.

Besides, she's never liked Harbard. Have any of them ever liked him?

"Don't be ridiculous," she replied eventually. "You are a wonder. Wretched as the rest of us but wholly remarkable." She grinned wide at her brother and reached out slowly to bop his head with her finger, "Do not ever forget the wild fire that bore you. Monsters wish they held your spark."

A small nod was directed at the goddess. A bemused smile on pallid lips as the redhead giantess strolled nearer. "I will not tell that you are here, Aunt. If you extend me the same courtesy." She came up beside the other and easily fell in step. The line moved slow but steady towards the gates of a dazzallingly bright rave grounds.

Truthfully, neither woman would be in trouble but it also did either no well to be seen at such a place. Never mind the delighted grin that bloomed on her glittered face as Hel snaked a gentle arm across her Aunty's back.

Hel looked from one brother then the other. A creeping feeling sunk into her chest as the words in lieu of greeting settled in her ears.

"Hi..." She stepped back far enough that when she smiled they could not tell at whom she did so.

Eyes, much the colour of their hair shifted from side to side before finally and decidedly settling on Freyja's fair visage. A slow borne smile grew on her pallid lips even as she stood still, like a child caught five steps from mayhem.

It had been too long. Even the name, the ken, felt foreign to her ears. Granddaughter. Not even the claim. Dóttursdóttir minn. She sighed silently, a small bead of guilt growing in her chest as she hesitantly stepped forward.

"And are you not glad of this?" She replied, thinking on her feet, "If there was enough woe to foretell my coming, would you not have been displeased with me?" She lifted her chin, proud and mischievous as she finally reached Freyja's feet, still smiling as she looked up at the older goddess. Like a child who knew they were about to get their way. She softened her voice as she earnestly added, "I missed you, amma."

For a long moment, the Queen of the Vanir silently appraised the younger Goddess with something close to affection in her gaze - something which became even more apparent when she finally spoke.

"I was not expecting to see you, granddaughter."

because i love you! passionate; you are the heated moment of an argument. when the person you care for has done something outrageously stupid or dangerous. all of your pent up emotions that you've kept inside of you come bursting out: "beCAUSE I LOVE YOU!" how could they be so dense. how could YOU be so dense. you've loved each other this whole time. your love tends to be strong, and loud. sometimes it might be hard for you to express your feelings but you let people know that they are cared for. you're also hot. good for you.

One eyebrow raises, lips curling to mirror the movement. They’re familiar with the concept of a ‘shovel talk’, of course, but this is the first time they have ever actually come across one – or rather, the idea of one, since it seems Brokkr knows such a thing would be pointless in this scenario.

“I will literally set myself on fire if I ever hurt Sigyn.” A strange response in Asgardian terms, perhaps, but Loki is frequently impulsive and prone to exaggeration. And head over heels in love. Brokkr will surely understand what they mean. A flick of the wrist and a large tankard, filled generously to the brim, appears in the trickster’s hand. “Are you obliged to threaten me further, or can I interest you in a drink?”

"I think tradition dictates I'm supposed to give you a speech about what will happen to you if you ever hurt my sister, but something tells me that's entirely unnecessary in this case."
