Disclaimer: I am aware that otter pockets are an attribute of Sea Otters and not of River Otters. Ed and Stede in the OtterFlag-AU are more based on River Otters. But we are talking here about a Fandom for a show with an infamously loose grip on history. So, the same applies here to biology.

Thanks to the continued hullabaloo around AI art, I decided to go back to my traditional art roots. At least when it comes to my free works. So, enjoy some happy Pirate Otters having a beautiful summer day with delicious Vodka-Orange-Cod Oil-Cocktails. The best thing since the invention of sardines!

The red fabric scene with Ed and Stede in the Otterverse. Stede can bind thirty different necktie-knots, which is maybe not the most useful skill for an otter. But Ed doesn't mind.

On May 31st it was World Otter Day. And I celebrated these awesome mustelids with two Pirate Otters celebrating eachother. And I recorded a timelapse video again.

There had been recently the sighting of a lioness near Berlin making the headlines. The police took it seriously, the media even more so. And of it went to a delightful two days media frenzy. In the end it turned out to be a misidentified wild boar. Or two otters in lion costumes up to mischief, with a wild boar, and a ketchup bottle.

On the smoking ruins of Twitter @feriowind made "Bottom Stede Week" a thing. For a moment I was hesitant to join with the Otterboys. But then I thought about that river otters mate or do not mate in water. The literature was a bit contradictory. On the other hand certainly at least Ed didn't read the literature.

When Pirate Otters are happy and at ease, they may dream happy dreams, where they simply play being pirates. Without all the blood, gore and fight for survival stuff. They may simply fight for chocolate.

I wasn't in the mood for Easter related artworks. But then two pirate otters went on an Easter Egg Hunt... One of which may have not quite the patience for an Easter Egg Hunt...

Baby Ed and his mom. I based her coat on the description of the Waitoreke a cryptid from Aotearoa (New Zealand). The Waitoreke is either described as more otterlike with white dots or having a more fox like head. This makes me theorise that it could be a semi aquatic living quoll. Otters are not native to Aotearoa, but I still wanted to at least reference it in my OFMD Otterverse.

Currently I don't have much time for more canon Our Flag Means Death Fanart. But an idea on Twitter kept my mind jogging the "Our Flag Means Death Otterverse", where the cast are otters or other forest critters. It's silly little fun in between jobs.

It's the Great Necklace Mania in the Our Flag Means Death Fandom. And I joined the fun with the pirate otters. Stede wants to give Ed all the nice things, as he deserves. And he goes through great lengths to get them.

It just started with a quick mock panel with Stede (I may or may not whip up some Otterverse comics....). But then I felt that Ed was missing here. So I added him in a breaking the Fourth Wall kind of way.

It's already eight days into the New Year. But as I have other works to finish, I could only draw every now and then, when I needed a bit of a distraction.

And as Stede points out the Number of the day does not matter, but what you are making of the day. Unfortunately he didn't tell also his impeccable technique for his hair styling.
