It s Just One More, Doesn t Make Much Difference : Stokes Unfazed By His 100 Tests Milestone
Tumblr media
Given Joe Root: Ben Stokes will be reaching the milestone of becoming the 16th man to reach a century of Tests for England when he leads the side in the third Test against India in Rajkot on Thursday, the English skipper, however, is unfazed by this milestone and said his 100th cap is "just another Test" and "doesn't make much difference". The all-rounder, who made his Test debut in 2013 against Australia, will enter an elite club alongside veteran pacer James Anderson and Joe Root when he leads England in the third match of a five-game series, which is currently tied at 1-1. "Every Test is just as important as the next one. Then there's the next one, which will be 101 - it's just one more. it's a sign of longevity, but 99, 100 or 101 doesn't make much difference," Stokes was quoted by BBC. Stokes announced his arrival in Test cricket by scoring a century in only his second match, against Australia. Since then, he has forged one of the most illustrious and triumphant careers in English cricketing history. The all-32-year-old, who also starred in two World Cup final wins in white-ball cricket, assumed the role of Test captain in 2022. Since then, he has transformed the England team, guiding them to victory in 14 out of 20 matches under his leadership. "There will be a time when I can reflect a bit more. Whilst I'm still playing and wanting to achieve a lot, then driving the team, giving individuals the best platform for them to be successful is where all my thoughts are at the moment." Stokes meanwhile said that England have finalise a 12-man squad for the third Test, with pace bowler Mark Wood in line to regain his place in the playing XI. England named only one specialist seamer in each of the first two Tests, with Wood playing in the first match in Hyderabad before being replaced by James Anderson in the second Test in Visakhapatnam. Wood could come in to partner James Anderson, with one of spin trio Shoaib Bashir, Rehan Ahmed or Tom Hartley making way. Given Joe Root's proficiency in offspin, Stokes will have a plethora of choices at his disposal, complemented by Wood's additional pace. Though Wood went wicketless in the first Test but Stokes believes he could have more of an impact with Anderson alongside him. "The reasons why we would look at Jimmy and Woody would be I just like to have a point of difference. And India is never a three-seamer option. Obviously having Woody's high pace, and if we were to go with two seamers again, it would give a bit more rest to Woody as he was that sole seamer in the first Test. So, managing his workload. "If we were to go with two seamers, we might be able to get a bit more versatility and use Woody how we want to use him out here and not worry he's the only seamer," said Stokes. The five-match series is levelled at 1-1 with three matches remaining as England look to become the first team since 2012 to win a Test series in this country. Read the full article

Leading India A in the Emerging Women's Asia Cup will be Shweta Sehrawat.
Tumblr media
The heart of India's U-19 team, who took home the World Cup this year, will compete in the Hong Kong competition. The core of India's under-19 team, which won the 2023 U-19 Women's World Cup in India, has been selected. a team for the Emerging Women's Asia Cup, which will be held in Hong Kong from June 12–21.
Shweta Sehrawat, who was a major contributor to India's victory in the title match in South Africa, has been selected captain of the A team, which also consists of members of her U-19 team Soumya Tiwari, G Trisha, Titas Sadhu, Parshavi Chopra, and Mannat Kashyap.
By choosing former all-round player Nooshin Al Khadeer as head coach, the BCCI has also maintained consistency. During the Under-19 World Cup campaign in January, Khadeer oversaw the backroom staff. In March, she served as Gujarat Giants' assistant coach in the first Women's Premier League.
The World Cup's top run scorer, Sehrawat, scored 297 runs in seven innings, while Chopra, a 17-year-old who was one of the youngest players in the WPL, finished as the second-highest wicket-taker with 11 dismissals in six innings at an average of 7.00.
The WPL achievements of Shreyanka Patil and Kanika Ahuja, both 20 years old, were also acknowledged by the selectors. While Ahuja showed off her creative strokeplay and big-hitting skills, Patil wowed with her power in the lower order and her offspin in the death overs.
Along with Kashyap and Chandigarh's Kashvee Gautam, who claimed 10 wickets in one inning with a hat-trick against Arunachal Pradesh in the Women's Under-19 One Day Trophy in 2020, Sadhu, who is highly regarded by Jhulan Goswami, will lead the pace attack.
In Group A of the Emerging Women's Asia Cup, India A will face Thailand A on June 15 and Pakistan A on June 17 before beginning their campaign against the tournament's hosts, Hong Kong, on June 13. I love how I started his account being all like "I drop stuff I like so fast it's incredible!" And now I've just been obsessed with Resident Evil for months.
Like
I'm so sorry to all the people who followed me because of Call of Duty stuff
Most of those probably don't follow me anymore tbf
But still like I was so ready to write shit about military men and now I'm here and I write smut for Leon Kennedy from a franchise I told myself I'd never get into
Genuinely
I saw resident evil and went "yeah 8 is kinda alright but the rest sucks" so I never even had ANY knowledge apart from Resident evil 7 and 8 because my friend absolutely loved those games
And now I'm sitting here, every single resident evil game and a few offspins in hand like "well yeah I fucked up"
It's become to the point that people aren't surprised when I say "oh that's like in Resident evil!"
Teachers fear me, my classmates hate me, my seat neighbour wishes I'd stop talking about Leon S. Kennedy (they also wish I'd stop stealing their drinks but I'm simply just a silly guy)

Top 10 spinners in the world
In all forms of cricket, spinners have been deceiving the batsmen for years with their web of spin. Since its inception, spin bowling has developed as an art form. Any batsman's ability to stay on the wicket is hampered by the abundance of variations available, including googly, topspin, slider, and flipper. Only after developing the ability to spin the ball well against the opposition can it be employed as a weapon. Any team they play for would be lucky to have them as a match winner.
Tumblr media
Here’s a list of Top 10 spinners in the world –
1. Shane warne
Undoubtedly, Shane Warne is the finest test match spinner of all time. For almost two decades, he was the best match winner for Australia. He took 40 wickets in the 2005 Ashes, 16 more than any other player on either side, even though his team lost. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Australian cricket squad was virtually unbeatable and ruled the sport. He was skilled and could bowl endlessly with such accuracy. His mental tricks were sufficient to render batsmen helpless before they even confronted a ball. The men's test squad selected by Shane Warne for the decade 719 test match wickets were taken by Warne, who had a 25.42 bowling average. 37 five-wicket hauls and 10 ten-wicket hauls were taken by him.
2. Muttiah Muralitharan
The majority of the test matches that were played in Sri Lanka were won by Sri Lanka thanks to their bowling, which also guaranteed that they would stay competitive away from home. Batsmen found it challenging to choose which stroke to play against Muralitharan because of how much he spun the ball. When he used his doosra, hitters had a difficult time picking him because it was so deadly. With 800 wickets at the conclusion of his career, Murali had the most of any bowler in test history. He has the highest bowling average of any spinner on this chart at 22.73. In the modern age, 67 five-wicket hauls and 22 ten-wicket hauls are practically unimaginable.
3. Anil Kumble
Anil Kumble represented India in 132 test matches and amassed 619 test match wickets with a bowling average of 29.65. He was a great bowler at home, taking 350 wickets at just 24.89 on surfaces that were primarily used for batting. He also had success in Zimbabwe, the West Indies, and South Africa, where he averaged close to 30. Kumble amassed 15 wickets in Bangladesh at a meagre 16.53. He didn't have as much ball spin as Warne or Muralitharan, which may be the reason he couldn't get as much out of foreign surfaces. He was extremely intelligent, though, which enabled him to manage the run rate while India was travelling. For a leg-spinner, Kumble's total economy of 2.70 is impressive.
4. Saqlain Mushtaq
Saqlain Mushtaq's game altered the entire game, despite the fact that he may not have taken as many wickets as the other players on the list. Saqlain is well known for developing the wellliked "Doosra."When Saqlain Mushtaq arrived, legspin was becoming more and more of an art form while off spinners were at their lowest point. Then, however, Saqlain revived offspin bowling by inventing his "doosra" and revolutionising the sport. Saqlain has taken 496 wickets in international play, including 288 in tests and 208 in ODIs.
5. Daniel Vettori
Daniel Vettori, who made his international cricket debut in 1997 at the age of 18, is still the youngest player to represent New Zealand. He is regarded as one of the all-time greats of the game in addition to being the best spin bowler New Zealand has ever created. One of the few spinners with more than 300 wickets at the international level was Vettori, who used his leftarm orthodox spin to weaponize various variations against batsmen. His highest scores in an innings at the Test level are 7/87, in ODI play they are 5/7, and in T20 they are 4/20.
6. Lance Gibbs
When fast bowlers were meant to be the backbone of any team, Lance Gibbs, one of the best spinners of his era, preserved the art of slow bowling. He achieved 300 wickets in the longer form of the game, becoming the first slow orthodox bowler to do so. On February 5, 1958, at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, the off spinner made his debut against Pakistan. He held four wickets in the match, which his side won by 120 runs. The best figures were 8 for 38 runs in an innings and 11 for 157 for a match. He participated in 79 matches and held 309 wickets at an average cost of 29.09 runs per wicket.
7. Abdul Qadir
The moniker Abdul Qadir is one that no real sports fan can ever forget. On numerous instances, this Pakistani leg spinner has completely destroyed the opposition. He participated in 67 test matches for Pakistan and has 236 catches to his credit. He also has the greatest bowling statistics of any Pakistani bowler. Against England in 1987, Qadir claimed 9 wickets for 56 runs. Abdul Qadir is without a doubt one of the greatest leg spinners of all time, with a variety of bowling techniques up his sleeve, particularly the googly that caused more damage to the opposition.
8. Nathan Lyon
Although Nathan Lyon lacks Ravi Ashwin's variety, he has still been able to help Australia win many test matches both at home and overseas. Due to his bowling technique and use of overspin, Lyon ultimately defeats Ashwin in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia). Lyon's statistics in New Zealand, England, and Australia are 22.60, 31.62, and 32.02, respectively. He hasn't been as productive in the subcontinent as Ashwin, but he has performed admirably against batters who are excellent against spin.
9. Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan is a well known associate player whose skills are on par with the finest in the world. The Afghan spinner's toolbox contains a dozen distinct variations, making him virtually unplayable. Rashid has participated in numerous t20 leagues around the world and is frequently referred to as the greatest spinner in the world by both critics and fans. He has appeared in 135 international cricket games and claimed 277 wickets, the majority of which have come in T20I and ODI matches. Rashid is without a doubt the greatest spinner in the world right now.
10. Derek Underwood
Derek Underwood, a left arm spinner and was the greatest magician of his time, achieving astonishing results for England and having the ability to cast lengthy spells that had favourable effects. On June 30, 1966, at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, he played his first game against the West Indies. He played in 86 Test matches and has taken 297 wickets at an average of 25.83, with his best figures being 8 for 51 runs in an innings and 13 for 71 in a game.

Can’t keep the ‘Bulldog’ quiet: Van der Merwe grabs the catch of the world cup
Can’t keep the ‘Bulldog’ quiet: Van der Merwe grabs the catch of the world cup
Roelof van der Merwe, nicknamed the Bulldog, for his unstoppable self-driven intensity had been padded up to walk in next. But Colin Ackermann and captain Scott Edwards had taken the Netherlands to 158/4 and he hadn’t needed to bat. His couple of overs of offspin when South Africa chased, and bottled up like usual, would be uneventful. But no matter. You just can’t keep the ‘Bulldog’ quiet. So,…

CWI considers hiring interim head coach for SA tour after Simmons leaves
The West Indies selection panel chose Roston Chase over left-arm fingerspinner Gudakesh Motie in the Test squad for the upcoming tour of Australia because they wanted an “offspinner in Australia”, Desmond Haynes, the lead selector, said. Though Rakheem Cornwall, who is also an offspinning allrounder like Chase, was in contention, fitness was one of the reasons for his omission. Jimmy Adams, the…

KARMA!READER X PAUL VERLAINE
Tumblr media
After the fiasco with the Flags and Rimbaud, Verlaine has lost almost all sense of himself. He was simply a man coded artificially and artificial he was in character, a man with everything faux that only his feelings remained. The realization, the guilt, and the obsession are what filled him with humanity, yet a brain coded into believing his own thoughts won’t get across Verlaine’s mind so easily. It won’t make him realize it, it would make him deny it. A man filled with desperation creates artificial hope, yet with a man like Verlaine, hope cannot come by to him, nor can he conjure false hope to soothe his insincere heart due to the impurity of a man created artificially. He was a man without humanity, a being without any remorse upon first glance. An obsessed man, filled with determination unhealthy for true people, for people who can differentiate morality and criminality, yet Verlaine allowed his feelings to be a memoir of codes skillfully weaved to make it seem genuine.
It was when Rimbaud passed was when he truly felt emotion. Something incredibly vehement, a heavy burden passed onto him that suffocated him, his throat clamped, a vein snapped, color drowning Verlaine in a sea of humanity incredibly foreign and unwelcome. He couldn’t grasp such feelings in a fleeting world he never thought he would stay in. A man so broken and irreparable until Rimbaud’s death, his partner that he swore he showed no remorse, no regret, yet upon remembering it, his eyes flash with evident guilt that grief could not even compare. His tears cannot fall, it never falls, as Verlaine is unable to. He doesn’t deserve to. If a person such as him felt no remorse and saw himself as the villain in his own story, then he cannot weep, it would be a sin if he does so. He committed heinous crimes that he was unsure even God would forgive, yet inside, his soul weeps.
No longer was his body artificial as he first made it out to be, his mind performing such mundane acts he was coded to do, a personality matching the computers he was written on, inside was a soul of a weeping man, a soul of a human that experienced sorrow and guilt without experiencing genuine glee. Was it fair? Every human he has witnessed had all had smiles on their faces, the contort and the stretch of each facial muscle pull to form a crescent, something Verlaine never tried to do sincerely. His soul weeps, and his skin does too. His artificial skin, soft to the touch, almost inhumane, it cries a soft weep as his soul too.
He was now an executive in the Port Mafia, a title to revel about, but he paid no mind to it, it wasn’t worth celebrating, anyway. That is, until his birthday. He dreaded the day, mostly due to past regrets and tantamount mistakes, however, as the boss explained another addition to the trading department, and the title that they would be possessing, the head of the department. You were only a new recruit, yet you rose to the ranks directly below the Executives, claiming your title as Head of The Trading Route of the Port Mafia. It was no easy achievement, he knew that firsthand, especially when the trading route was the biggest department the Port Mafia has created. Intrigued, he watched from afar, wondering at the experience and expense you may have had to endure to reach such a position. While many other members marveled before your feet, you finally stepped into his life. It was mundane, a simple negotiation for assistance from him, and he accepted, before stating some conditions of his own. You agreed, devising a plan that caters to both of your regulations.
The mission was simple yet your plans were as complex as he understood them. Perhaps this was the factor leading to your quick rise in the mafia. It interested him, as an artificial man, his feelings were genuine to you. It sparked a cord of attentiveness in him just by looking at you. He enjoyed the expression of your lust for blood upon arriving at the destination and the sadistic expression you wore throughout the exchange with the enemy. Giving them no time to react, once you found the visage and its weaknesses, you came in for the kill with no remorse. Upon seeing your partner, a twinge of sadism appeared in your eyes, smiling at him cynically as you led him out. He chuckled softly, telling you that there was another way to make the mission less brutal. You laughed after, shaking your head at his response. He found out you take things too violently, your nature and your personality fueling his assumption.
Of course, you weren’t the head of the Trading Department without unusual quirks. Usually humiliating those you interrogate, manipulating the situation to what benefits you, and smirking when it goes all in your favor. Although, this persona you put on is only shown when you encounter enemies, and rarely your subordinates. You truly were worried for their wellbeing, although not showing it outright, it gives him a belief that someone as fake as him can truly be human. He could not forget how often you skip meetings, however. Upon consulting you for it, using his authority as an executive to bring you to meetings. You could only be persuaded by Verlaine, for some unknown reason, and not even Chuuya himself.
Perhaps that’s why he allowed himself to love again. An emotion so fitting for those who seek meaning for their humanity, yet he thought it was a sin to break himself free from artificiality and cling to the humanity that you helped him feel. Despite how rowdy you are, it was proven that your empathy rivals your own sadism. It was fair, for someone like him, to feel fond for someone like you. Once he saw your eyes swirling with worry while rushing to his side in a fight, he knew he could trust you. An emotion he has never felt, though it was something he was willing to feel despite his dehumanization and despite his obsession in the past. Humanity started to bloom in him, and he was certain its roots would never be corrupted as long as he was with you. You were a prodigy, of sorts, it was apparent once you showcased your abilities to the mafia, the members realized that giving you a position so high never was a mistake.
Even then, you knew, with a man with a past tarnished and a body that weeps for as long as it can remember, would weaken you morally. But you didn’t mind, as your hands had touched the souls of others more times than once. Verlaine was an enigma, something that could only be solved by vision-- by his eyes alone. A glance into his sapphire eyes have you reeling into a spiral of emotions man could not perceive, but can only experience. You could only imagine what he has undergone. A gentle cradle sends you smiling, a smile so genuine Verlaine swore if he blinked, it would be gone. A smile only dreamt of, something he wasn’t expecting you to ever muster. An equally broken pair running the streets of Yokohama, with loved ones gone yet a bond so strong with each other. It was tragic, melancholy, a love so vulnerable befitting for the mafia’s higher-ups to experience. You tease him occasionally, for such a solemn look on his face, almost caught off guard by the love swelling in his eyes when it lands on your form. Verlaine sometimes has to hold you back from performing unprofessional acts.
