@poke-trainer-kris
At a point in the party where the initial excitement has died down a little, Kris decides to approach the two birthday people. He holds two small-ish boxes in his hands, one red and one blue.
"Champions! Happy birthday!" He seems a bit nervous as he holds out the two gifts to both Calem and Serena with a smile. "Here, a little gift from me to you to celebrate."
"Kris!" Serena shouted in delight. "Good to see you! It's been a while! How have you been!"
Calem chuckled at Serena's enthusiasm. "Come on, Rena, don't overwhelm him." He turned back to Kris. "She is right, though. It really has been a hot minute since we last saw eachother in person." He grinned. He was a lot more subdued than his sister but it was clear he was no less delighted to see Kris.
They each took one of the boxes from him, thanking him as they did so. It was only after taking the boxes that they realized they probably had the wrong ones, Calem holding Red and Serena holding Blue. They both laughed at this and swapped.
"So, how are you enjoying the party?" Serena asked Kris.

Off-Screen Event - Mare vs. Sidney
Big shout out to @darkpunkrocker for letting me use their nicknames for Sidney's Pokemon. Hope I did Sid justice.
(Music Box: Victory Road/Pokemon League From Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire)
The Elite 4, a collection of Hoenn’s top trainers. The final test before you face off against the Champion. And it was time for Mare to take this test.
First up on the list was Sidney, master of Dark Types. Mare always liked him. Granted, she liked all the Elite 4 but she liked Sid in particular. He was rough and tumble, just like her.
“So, kid, you finally decided to take on the Elite Four.” Sid said. He was crouched down like a gangster, tossing a pokeball in the air and catching it repeatedly.
“You bet!” Mare replied, grinning. “And I don’t plan on losing!”
Sid chuckled. “Well, we’ll see about that. You better give me a good match.”
“Don’t worry, I’m gonna come at you with everything I’ve got!” Mare shouted.
“Let’s get started, then.” Sid said, he nodded towards the previously unmentioned referee standing on the sidelines.
“The battle between Mare the Challenger and Sidney of the Elite Four is about to begin!” The referee announced. “Each side will have the use of 6 Pokemon and the battle will be over when either trainer’s Pokemon are unable to continue! Only the Challenger may substitute Pokemon! Each side is only allowed one healing item! Only the Challenger may use revives!”
“Alright, Kane, let’s do this!” Sid shouted, tossing the Pokeball he was holding into the air once more and releasing his Mightyena.
“Alright, Kaen, come on out!” Mare threw her Pokeball, releasing Kaen the Blazekin. It only seemed right that she lead with him, he was her first ever Pokemon after all. Mare adopted the same fighting stance as him. “You ready?”
“When am I not?” Kaen replied, though any outside observer would just hear Pokemon noises.
“Battle begin!” The referee called out.
(Music Box: Battle! Elite Four: Sidney from Pokemon Masters EX)
“Kane! Crunch!” Sid called out.
“Dodge and use Sky Uppercut!” Mare called.
The Kane rushed forward, mouth glowing(?) with black energy. Swiftly, Kaen dodged to the side and the Kane’s jaws clamped down on nothing but air. Kaen then followed up with a Sky Uppercut, sending the Kane flying into the air. Simultaneously, Mare mimicked Kaen’s actions.
“Nice move.” Sid said. “But it’ll take more than type advantages to beat us. Take Down!”
Kane recovered midair and sped towards Kaen, engulfed in energy. Despite having superior speed, Kaen wasn’t able to dodge in time and was hit straight on. Normal type moves did neutral damage against Blaziken, but Kane was powerful and still knocked Kaen backwards. There was an upside in that Kane also took recoil damage from the move.
“Who said I need a type advantage!” Mare said confidently. “Flare Blitz!”
“Take Down again!” Sid shouted.
The two Pokemon rushed at each other, each engulfed in the element of their respective type (for as much as Normal could be called an element). They collided, kicking up a cloud of dust (how they did this was unknown, the floor was made of tile). When the dust settled it revealed that Kaen was still standing, if a bit battered, and Kane had fainted. Sid recalled him.
“You did good.” He said to the Pokeball.
“You still feeling up for battle?” Mare asked Kaen.
“Course I am, boss!” Kaen said confidently. “I’m gonna see this through to the bitter end!”
“Jeez, you make it sound like you’re gonna die.” Mare said.
“I might.” Kaen replied.
“You really won’t.” Mare said deadpan.
“Ya might wanna stand back for this next one!” He called to Mare, taking out another Pokeball.
He nodded to the ref again. Dramatically, the ref pulled a lever next to him and the floor split open revealing a pool. Kaen leaped backwards before he fell in. Rocks rose from the pool, providing platforms for land-based Pokemon to stand on.
“Come on out, Deluge!” Sid called, releasing his Sharpedo into the water.
Mare cursed. This was fantastic. If your definition of “fantastic” was “horrible news for you in every way.”
“Don’t worry, boss, I still got this!” Kaen proclaimed, hopping onto one of the rocks.
“If you say so.” Mare said, unable to keep doubt from slipping into her voice. “Let’s do this! Brave Bird!”
“Aqua Jet!” Sid shouted.
Kaen leaped into the air. Wings made of fire manifested themselves. He sped towards the Sharpedo, who dived down into the pool and then leaped out, cloaked in water. Deluge collided with Kaen and knocked him out of the air and into one of the rocks.
“Now use Crunch!” Sid shouted.
Delugeleaped out of the water and bit down on Kaen. It wasn’t very effective, but it still did just enough damage to KO the Blaziken. Mare recalled Kaen as Deluge leaped back into the pool.
“Get a good rest.” She said. “I’ll say “I told you so” later.”
Mare reattached the Pokeball to her belt. She took another one out.
“Kusanagi! Your turn!” She shouted, tossing the Pokeball into the air and releasing her Doublade. She knew she was at a type disadvantage but Kusanagi’s ability to float above the pool instead of being confined to just the land was valuable. She really needed a water type.
“Crunch again!” Sid shouted.
“Sacred Sword!” Mare shouted.
Deluge leaped out of the water ready to chomp on the sword. Unfortunately for him, Kusanagi was able to land the Sacred Sword before he could hit. Mare had to admit, while standing on the sidelines felt weird in general, standing on the sidelines while Kusanagi fought felt even weirder. When the two of them were in battle they had a much more direct connection than any of her other Pokemon, even Kyoshi. They had too as sword and wielder. If the two weren’t in perfect sync the battle was already lost. Ah well, mimicking Kusanagi’s actions as she battled was the next best thing.
“Now, again!” Mare shouted.
“Dive!” Sid called out.
Deluge did as instructed, leaving Kusanagi slashing at air.
“Aqua Jet!” Sid called.
“Block it with Protect!” Mare shouted.
Kusanagi crossed their blades and a barrier made of hexagons forms. Deluge’s Aqua Jet rammed straight into it and bounced off.
“Sacred Sword one more time!” Mare shouted.
Before Deluge could return to the water, Kusanagi unleashed a slash. Deluge was down for the count. Sid quickly returned Deluge to his ball.
“Nice job.” He said to the Pokeball.
The referee pulled the lever again and the rocks sank back into the pool. The pool closed up, returning the battlefield to normal.
“Not bad kid.” Sid said. “But we’re a long way from finished.”
He grabbed another Pokeball and tossed it in the air before catching it and then proceeding to throw it for real. “You’re up next, Cena!” Out of the ball came his Shiftry.
Damn. Now she really wished Kaen hadn’t been taken out. He would have made this battle easy. But she wasn’t sure she wanted to use her one Max Revive just yet. Kusanagi was still a pretty good option, though. He was quick and knew two moves that were super effective.
“Alright, Kusanagi, Sacred Sword!” Mare shouted.
“Getting a bit predictable there, kid.” Sid said. “Leaf Blade!”
The two Pokemon rushed at each other. The leaves on Cena’s arm expanded and changed shape into a glowing green blade. The two clashed, engaging in an epic sword duel. At this point, neither Pokemon needed direction from their trainer. They were guided by pure instinct and skill.
Neither seemed to be able to break the other’s defenses. Kusanagi seemed to sense that it shouldn’t let Cena get too close. Unfortunately, while it was an expert swordfighter, literally being a sword and all, even it was capable of making mistakes. He dropped his guard at the worst possible moment and let Cena to get in close, allowing him to get off a Feint Attack. This wasn’t looking good.
“Alright, Cena, finish em off with Leaf Blade once again!” Sid shouted.
Mare’s mind raced. There was only one option. “Counter with Aerial Ace!”
The two blades struck each other, locking them into a fierce clash. Each Pokemon pushed against each other, trying to break past the other’s defense. The blade lock couldn’t last forever, though, and at the exact same time, they slashed through each other’s defenses.
There was a tense moment, where both stood (or floated in Kusanagi’s case) completely still like in a Samurai movie. And then, Cena collapsed, fainted. Sid returned Cena to his Pokeball.
“You kicked some real ass out there.” He said. “Get a good rest.” He put Cena’s Pokeball away and took out another one. “You’re doing good, kid, but lets see how you stack up against my next Pokemon. He’s a real Ace in the Hole!”
He threw the Pokeball and out came… King? His Absol? Why would he use his Ace now. When Mare fought the gym leaders they always used their Ace last. Maybe the E4 was different. No, something still felt off.
She closed her eyes, letting the Aura flow through her. Through her Aura Vision she could see that this was not King the Absol but Batista the Zoroark.
Mare grabbed Kusanagi’s Pokeball off her belt and held it out, returning the Doublade too her Pokeball. She reattached the ball to her belt and grabbed another one.
“Your turn, Kyoshi!” She called out, tossing the Pokeball.
Sid chuckled. “Heh. I should have known you’d see through our gambit. Shadow Claw!”
“Bone Rush!” Mare shouted. In perfect sync, she and Kyoshi both summoned a bone staff made of aura energy.
Batista as King rushed forward, illusionary claws elongated into Shadow Claws. He swiped at Kyoshi but before he could land a hit was knocked backwards by Kyoshi’s bone staff, breaking the illusion. Batista’s true form was revealed.
“Extreme Speed!” Mare shouted.
“Flamethrower!” Sid shouted.
Kyoshi rushed forward but wasn’t able to close the distance before Batista unleashed a torrent of flame from his mouth. Huh, so that’s how Zoroark used Flamethrower. It made sense but Mare had kinda been expecting him to unleash the fire from his paws.
Kyoshi was engulfed by the flame. When the flame subsided, Kyoshi still stood but had taken heavy damage. Looked like they’d have trouble getting close. Ranged it was.
“Aura Sphere!” Mare shouted.
“Shadow Claw!” Sid shouted.
Kyoshi fired off several Aura Spheres, which Batista cut in half or blocked with his Shadow Claw. Don’t ask how that works, it looks cool.
Unfortunately for Batista but fortunately for Kyoshi, he couldn’t block every Aura Sphere. Eventually one hit, knocking him backwards.
“You’ve got us on the defensive.” Sidney said. “But we haven’t shown all our cards just yet.”
Suddenly, Batista disappeared, bending light around himself to become almost invisible. A keen eyed observer, however, would notice a shimmer in the air, like when you look at a fire and the air gets all wavy. Kyoshi certainly was a keen eyed observer, particularly with her Aura Vision.
Batista darted around the battlefield, eventually sneaking up behind Kyoshi and preparing to use Shadow Claw. This proved to be for naught, however, as Kyoshi whirled around and slammed her paw into Batista’s gut then followed up with Close Combat, unleashing a flurry of attacks ending with an uppercut.
The move sent Batista flying. The Zoroark was now down for the count. Or up for the count, since the attack had launched him into the air. When he hit the ground, Sid returned him to his Pokeball.
“Good going.” He said to the ball before returning it too his belt and taking out another one.
“Don’t think this is over just yet.” He said. “We do our best work when the chips are down. Sheik, come on out!” He tossed the ball in the air releasing his Mandibuzz, Sheik.
A flying Pokemon. Great. And all of Mare’s Pokemon were landbound. Even Kusanagi could only fly so high, and not nearly high enough to be on the same level as a Mandibuzz.
However, Mare had actually planned for this. While she and her Pokemon usually relied on their all out strength and speed, she wasn’t that bad at strategizing either. She knew Sid had a Mandibuzz so just in case she’d bought a particular TM just for this occasion.
“You did great, Kyoshi, but you’re at a real disadvantage here.” Mare said. “You’re gonna need to swap out if we wanna win this.” Kyoshi nodded and Mare returned her to her ball. She took out another ball and threw it releasing Kamu the Raticate. “Kamu, come on out!”
“So this is the new guy, eh?” Sid said. “Let’s see what he’s got. Sheik, Bone Rush!”
Sheik summoned bones made of energy and rained them down on the battlefield. Kamu managed to dodge several of the bones but wasn’t nearly as fast as Mare’s other Pokemon so took quite a few of the bones head on.
“You good!” Mare shouted to Kamu. He nodded in confirmation.
“Good.” Mare said. “Then it’s time to unleash our secret weapon! Thunder Wave!” This was the TM she had bought.
Kamu crackled with electricity, causing his fur to stand on end, and then fired off rings of electricity at Sheik. The rings surrounded the Mandibuzz like a cage and then collapsed in on her. Electricity crackled around her and she fell from the sky, indicating that she was paralyzed.
“Not bad, kid.” Sid said. “You came prepared.”
Not prepared enough, unfortunately, as Mare realized Kamu had no other moves that weren’t normal or dark type. She growled to herself. She knew she should have bought that Thunderbolt TM. Oh well, at least with Normal she wouldn’t be at a disadvantage either.
“Super Fang!” Mare shouted. Kamu’s fangs grew to enormous size, almost unsettlingly so, and had no trouble landing the hit because of Sheik’s paralysis. The move always took off half a Pokemon’s HP, the unit of measurement denoting a Pokemon’s health in battle. Mare wasn’t sure how they calculated it but it seemed like a solid enough system. “Follow up with Double Edge!”
Kamu made to bodyslam Sheik but just then the Mandibuzz managed to recover from her paralysis. She blasted upwards, avoiding the attack. Unfortunately, Kamu still took damage from using Double Edge and was a bit dazed.
“That was quick.” Mare said.
“Cheri Berry held in her mouth.” Sidney explained. “She was able to move just enough to chow down. A lot of Challengers try the Paralysis trick. Gotta be prepared.”
“Makes sense.” Mare said, shrugging.
“Alright! Brave Bird!” Sid shouted. Sheik dived towards the dazed Kamu.
“Come on, Kamu, you’re strong! I know you can recover!” Mare shouted. “Use Double Edge!”
Mare’s words struck a chord with Kamu. Like with all of Mare’s Pokemon, the two shared a unique bond. Mare had opened the door to his heart, after all. He shook off his daze and launched himself at Sheik. The two collided, creating a large midair explosion and knocking both of them across the room and too the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. When the dust cleared, it revealed the two Pokemon were still standing. They hadn’t been able to do enough damage to knock each other out… but the recoil damage from their own moves certainly had. Simultaneously, they both collapsed.
The two powerful trainers recalled their fainted Pokemon. This was it. It had been a long and hard fought battle but Mare was sure it was almost over.
“So, this is it.” Sid said, chuckling. He pulled out a Pokeball and tossed it in the air before catching it. “I’m down to one last Pokemon. I see that glint in your eyes, you’re pretty confident. But don’t think you’ve won just yet. We’ve got one more Ace up our sleeve.”
Sidney tossed the Pokeball and released King, the real King. Around his neck was a necklace embedded with what was undoubtedly a Mega Stone. The E4 had Mega Evolution? This was news to Mare. But it also made sense. Of course Steven would give them out to four of the strongest trainers in the region.
“Alright King!” Sid shouted, placing his middle and index fingers over a lapel pin similar too Steven’s but more punk, a keystone. He then held out his fist in front of him as the Keystone and Absolite glowed in unison. “Mega Evolve!”
King was encased in a shell of energy emblazoned with the Mega Evolution symbol. Then the shell shattered apart, releasing a wave of energy and revealing King, now a Mega Absol with gorgeous wings.
Mare laughed. “Oh this is gonna be fun!”
She took a Pokeball off her belt. She reached into her bag and took out a Max Revive. She opened a slot in the Pokeball and dropped the Max Revive into it. The Pokeball glowed yellow and played the healing item sound. Mare held the Pokeball close to her chest and then wound up before throwing it, releasing Kaen back onto the battlefield.
“Kaen, time to get back into the fray!” She shouted.
“Alright!” Kaen shouted. “I knew it wasn’t over for me just yet!”
Mare held up her forearm and tapped the Keystone in her Mega Ring. She thrust her arm into the air as the Keystone and Blazikenite on Kaen’s leg band glowed simultaneously.
“Kaen! Mega Evolve!” She shouted.
Just like with King, Kaen was surrounded by a shell of energy which cracked apart, releasing a wave of energy and revealing Kaen had become Mega Blaziken.
“Prepare yourself!” Mare shouted. “Cause things are about to really heat up!”
“We can take the heat! Ain’t that right, King!” Sidney said confidently.
King made what was clearly an affirmative noise. Unbeknownst to Sidney, he was saying “Damn Straight!”
“Blaze Kick!” Mare shouted.
“Psycho Cut!” Sid shouted at the same time.
Kaen leaped into the air and dived towards King, leg outstretched and engulfed in flame. At the same time, King leaped to meet him, horn glowing with psychic energy. Kaen’s kick impacted with King’s horn. Time seemed to stand still for just a moment. Then, Kaen unleashed a flurry of Blaze Kicks, all of which King blocked with Psycho Cut.
Kaen couldn’t keep this up forever, though. Every Psycho Cut caused Kaen to struggle to keep it up more and more. The final straw came when Kind unleashed one final Psycho Cut, bigger than all the others, that knocked Kaen away. Luckily, Kaen managed to recover and stick a three point landing.
“You okay, Kaen?” Mare asked.
“Never better!” Kaen confirmed. If Blaziken could grin he would be doing it.
“Alright then, use Brave Bird!” Mare shouted.
“King! Aerial Ace!” Sidney shouted.
Kaen summoned wings of fire and sped towards King. The wings on Mega Absol were next to useless but they were enough to allow King to utilize Aerial Ace. Come to think of it, Mare had to wonder how he would use Aerial Ace if he wasn’t Mega Evolved.
The two Pokemon collided, both doing serious damage. Kaen took more damage because of Brave Bird’s recoil damage. Despite this, both Pokemon were still in the fight.
“Sky Uppercut!” Mare shouted.
Kaen complied, delivering a hearty uppercut that sent King into the air.
“Aerial Ace!” Sidney shouted.
“Follow up with Brave Bird again!” Mare shouted.
The two Pokemon collided once again, bouncing off each other like billiard balls. They did this several times until they found themselves on opposite ends of the field, breathing heavily. They were both heavily damaged. It looked like whoever landed the next attack would be the winner.
“Alright, Kaen, are you ready for one final move!” Mare shouted.
“You bet!” Kaen shouted back.
“Then use Flare Blitz!” Mare shouted.
“King! Psycho Cut!” Sid shouted.
Both Pokemon charged forward for perhaps the final time. Kaen wreathed in flames and King with his horn glowing with psychic energy. They collided and caused a massive explosion of fire and psychic power. When the smoke cleared it revealed King lying on the ground, unconscious, and Kaen still standing, albeit battered and bruised. King’s Mega Evolution wore off and he returned to his original form.
(Music Box: Victory! Gym Leader from Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire)
“King is unable to battle!” The announcer declared. “The victory goes to Mare Birch and Kaen!”
“Yes!” Mare shouted, pumping her fist in the air. “We did it!”
She ran over to Kaen and gave him a big hug. Though, considering her height, it wasn’t really that big.
“You did it!” She shouted.
Kaen attempted a triumphant laugh. It came out as more of a wheeze. “Yeah, I did! I think… I think I’m gonna take a nap now.” With that he passed out, reverting to his normal form.
Mare took out Kaen’s Pokeball and returned him too it. “Get a good rest.”
Sid returned King to his Pokeball. He walked over to Mare.
“Nice going, kid.” He said. “You really put my skills to the test.”
“Thanks Sid.” Mare said, grinning. “You did real well yourself. Fiercest battle I’ve had in a long time.”
Sid chuckled. “Well I hope you’re prepared cause there’s some even fiercer battles up ahead. The rest of the League ain’t no pushovers.”
“Trust me, I’m looking forward too it.” Mare said, holding out her hand.
Sid took Mare’s hand and shook it. “As fiery as ever, kid. Get out there and kick some ass.”

[off screen event post! sept 19th] [Cooper is sitting by a campfire at a campsite with Jax (@jax-deluth-and-ai-winstrate ) near the Sword and Shield in the Slumbering Weald. He's cooking some burger patties over the campfire with 10 Feet Tall by Cavetown playing on his phone.
Suddenly, what sounds like very faint footsteps followed by the thwack of a tree branch hitting something can be just barely heard down the path. The muffled voice of a maybe 15yo girl saying "Shit, Ow." is heard immediately after this. Cooper's ears perk up and he turns his music off.
"Hey, did you hear that?"
Jax's ears twitch a little bit, trying to figure out what had made the sound."
"Yeah, I heard it. Could be a lost trainer."
There were some cool pokemon in the forest that he had seen, and it was easy to get lost.
Cooper's ears lower from their raised position a little.
"Yeah, hopefully. The whole stealing thing isn't supposed to happen until tomorrow."
He prods at a burger patty with his spatula and flips it over.
The footsteps get closer, seeming to come from a cluster of bushes with a small passageway at the bottom, barely big enough for a child to crawl through. The footsteps then turned into rustling leaves.
Jax looks at the bushes.
"Okay, this is starting to get a bit scary. HEY, YOU LOST?"
He yelled towards the noise, hoping to get a response. He stands up and grabs his berry bag.
Cooper puts down his spatula and stands up, motioning to his pokemon, who had been playing together on the campgrounds, to come closer and keep their guards up. They all stop what they're doing and make their way over to where Cooper and Jax are standing.
Cooper yells.
"HELLO?"
The leaf rustling gets louder, as a girl struggles from the passageway she was definitely too small to fit through.
She's 5'5ish, with long red hair in two low pony tails and freckles. She looks exasperated as she attempts to pick twigs and leaves out of her hair with one hand, holding a notebook and pen in the other.
"Man, I am NOT small enough for that tunnel anymore."
She pauses, and looks up at Cooper. Shock and anger spreads across her face.
"What the hell are YOU doing here."
Jax whispers quietly
"Okay, not lost, not friendly. Where's Sapphire's pokeball."
He looks at the girl
"Are you talking to me or Cooper?"
He looks at the notebook and pen in her hand.
"Are you a professor's assistant? Or a professor?"
She points at Cooper.
"That's none of your business, skittyboy."
Jax responds.
"Hey, that's Mew to you dipshit! Skittyboy is my boyfriend."
Cooper looks at the girl, confused and surprised.
"Holy shit... Robin? Crystal told me you moved back to Alola when we were 12!"
His ears drop a bit, and he looks at Robin confusedly.
Robin gets visibly angrier, and she balls up her fists.
"I NEVER LEFT! I'VE BEEN HERE THE WHOLE TIME, DON'T GIVE ME THAT BULLSHIT!"
She turns to Jax.
"Also, What."
Jax responds
"Fuck you, you don't get any context for yelling at him! Winstrate!"
Winstrate appears out of Jax's bag.
"HYPER BEAM?"
Jax looks at winstrate.
"What? No, we're not killing anyone. Arc, what is your problem... Just get ready. I don't even know why you where my first choice."
He turns to Cooper.
"Also, do you know this person?"
Cooper's ears drop more, he looks upset.
"She's.. an old friend. We used to play out behind my house when I lived in Alola, and when I moved to Galar, her family moved with us. Then we spent all our time together in this forest. But when I was 12 I asked if I could go out and play with her, and Crystal told me she had moved back to Alola."
Oliver the sylveon looks at Robin. He seems to know her, but he's frightened by her sudden outburst.
Robin only gets angrier.
"THAT'S FUCKING BULLSHIT! YOU KNEW I WAS STILL HERE! YOU WERE MY ONLY FRIEND IN THIS ARCFORSAKEN REGION, AND YOU LEFT ME."
She takes in a deep breath.
"Whatever. I have a job to do here."
Jax turns to Winstrate
"Okay, nevermind Winstrate, you can do whatever."
"FUCK YEAH! SEE YOU IN HELL!"
He fires a hyper beam. And misses.
"Arc damnit. Alright time for Sapphire to come out."
Jax reaches into his bag and throws out a pokeball.
Sapphire the Latios comes out and chirps, not knowing what's going on.
Robin's eyes widen.
"WHAT THE SHIT IS THAT A LATIO-"
She's cut off by a Shadow Ball from Marley the zoroark, knocking her into a pond.
"STOP TRYING TO KILL ME FOR THE LOVE OF ARCEUS"
She reaches into her pocket and removes a pokeball. She releases her incineroar from it.
Cooper runs towards the pond, hoping to stop Robin from doing what he thinks she's going to do.
Winstrate turns towards Jax.
"HEY JAX I'LL GIVE YOU 10 POKE IF YOU WRESTLE THAT INCINEROAR"
"That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. 15 poke."
"YEAH I CAN DO THAT"
Sapphire gets spooked by all the commotion and hides behind Jax and Winstrate.
Jax readies himself to wrestle the giant cat, knowing damn well he's going to lose.
The incineroar growls, as if to say 'Oh? You're approaching me?'
Cooper jumps into the water and tackles Robin.
"OW- WHAT THE- GET THE FUCK OFF ME!!"
She squirms around and manages to throw him off. She quickly writes something down on her notepad.
Cooper falls back into the water, but quickly gets back up and crouches into a fighting stance.
"Robin, don't do this. You don't know how much destruction you're going to cause if you do. Please."
Meanwhile, Jax tries his best to look intimidating without transforming, but fails. So he just lunges at the incineroar.
"FUCK IT UP JAX! SHOW IT WHO'S THE STRONGER CAT!"
Sapphire is still unaware of what to do, so he heads towards Cooper to see if they need help.
The incineroar uses Flare Blitz, seemingly unfazed by Jax.
Robin turns to Cooper.
"I've got a job to do."
She turns around, and notices sapphire approaching.
"But, I've got everything I need. Hope you don't meet me again, arse-face."
She runs down a path and her incineroar follows.
Cooper watches her go, not fast enough to get to her in time.
"SHIT-!"
It's head whips around, only to see that the Sword and Shield are both safe.
"Wait, then what did she-?"
Jax is regretting not having good physical defense.
"SHIT! Ugh, motherFUCKER! WINSTRATE GIVE ME MY FUCKING 15 POKE!"
"ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, CALM DOWN! JEEZ, NO NEED TO YELL."
They float over to Jax with his money.]

Ex-Champion Chairman Leon walks in, and takes his seat on the opposite side of the desk. "G'morning. Barbara, right?"
She nods
"Yes sir. I am here to apply as an assistant here at the Hammerlocke Energy Plant."
Leon writes something down on a notepad.
"D'you have any qualifications, Miss Barbara?"
Barbara smiles, and hands him the folder. "I'm sure you'll find everything you need here, Mr Chairman."
He reads over it for a while, taking his time to inspect the papers thoroughly.
"Congratulations, Barbara Rhydon. You're hired. You start this monday. Have a great day, I think you'll do great"
He smiles and hands Barbara an employee ID with her name on it. Barbara smiles in return as she accepts it
"Thank you, Chairman.
I won't let you down."]

The house is peaceful. The Pokemon are asleep, everything is turned off. The door to the workshop opens and Jax comes out. He closes the door as quietly as he could, not wanting to wake anyone up. He slowly walks towards the stairs, making sure he doesn't step on anything.
He starts to walk down, but all of the sudden, he slips! "GAH!" Whoops! Shouldn't have been wearing socks! As soon as he hits the stairs for the first time, he disappears. He didn't teleport unfortunately, because he didn't pop back in.
Lydia the Tinkaton sticks her head out of the workshop, but goes back in after not hearing anything else. Nothing else happens the entire night, no Jax coming back, no falling down the stairs.

Flashback...
This is a flashback. It happened in the past. It's also an off-screen event.
Anabel looked down at the collection of papers Looker had dropped on her desk. “What’s this?”
“My resignation.” Looker stated simply.
Anabel raised an eyebrow. “You’re quitting?”
“Yes.” Looker affirmed. “I can no longer be an agent of the International Police.”
“You’ve worked here for 30 years and you’ve never once shown any hint of wanting to retire.” Anabel said. “Why the sudden change?”
“I have done… horrible things as part of my job for Interpol.” Looker said solemnly. “Things I regret greatly and can never atone for. And yet I never questioned a single order. If I'm being honest with you, I should have resigned long ago. And now… with Emma in the picture…”
“You’ve grown attached to the girl.” Anabel concluded.
“Yes.” Looker affirmed, looking down. “I want to make sure that she is safe and healthy. And I can’t do that if I continue to work at Interpol. As such, I’ve decided that this will be my last mission.”
Anabel laced her fingers together and placed them on her desk. “And what do you plan to do after you retire?”
“I intend to take on the role I have been assigned for real.” Looker said. “I will become a Private Detective.”
“A Private Detective?” Anabel echoed. “Not a particularly safe occupation.”
“Emma has quite taken to the idea of being a Detective.” Looker explained. “Even if I stop, I imagine she will continue attempting to solve mysteries and help others. The best way I can keep her safe is to be there with her while she’s doing that.”
“I see.” Anabel said impassively. “You do, of course, understand that you will be cut off from all Interpol resources. No more access to our databases, no contact with our agents, nothing.”
Looker nodded. “Yes. All I ask is that I be allowed to keep my codename and the Bureau.”
“That sounds reasonable.” Anabel said. She took a deep breath. “Very well, when this mission ends you will be deactivated and cut off from all Interpol resources. You will be allowed to keep your codename and the space we rented out for you for this mission. You are dismissed.”
“Thank you, ma’am.” Looker said, nodding.
He turned to leave but Anabel held up a hand to stop him. “Looker.”
He turned around. “Yes ma’am?”
“It was an honor working with you. Thank you for being a good agent…” Anabel smiled. It was an expression she rarely adopted. “...and a good friend.”

Off-Screen Event - Nightmares and Ghosts
Co-Written by @ariadosanon tw depictions of torture
Zinnia had been scoping out the island for nearly a day or two now. It wasn’t very large so navigating was easy. Problem was, one wrong move could lead to her being discovered.
Luckily, the only one to seem to notice her was the Munna, Mewthree Victoria called him. Luckily, this probably wouldn’t be a problem because the Munna couldn’t speak and was skittish around humans. He staunchly avoided the Apprentice and Derek (who Zinnia noticed had seemingly disappeared), only getting near Victoria (clearly he was a horrible judge of character). Zinnia wasn’t even sure if the Munna had even seen her, just that her sensed her presence.
More concerningly, for Zinnia at least, was that Vic owned a Deino. And she was not training it properly. Deino were naturally aggressive but even by Deino standards this thing was vicious. Corrupted, just like the Apprentice was being. As a Dragon Trainer, this hurt her.
Eventually, night fell. Zinnia went to hide out in the jungle and hopefully find a spot where she could sleep without being discovered. This, as it turned out, was a mistake as she immediately ran into Mewthree. And what she saw was not pretty. Mewthree was projecting dreams in its sleep, and the dreams it projected were more like nightmares.
Zinnia witnessed a young Vic, she appeared to be about 13, surrounded by a flock of Skarmory. The Skarmory were mauling her, ripping and tearing at her flesh as she stood paralyzed. She let out a horrified, bloodcurdling scream. The fact that nobody woke up at the sound of it was surprising.
All of this was happening in a large rusty room full of torn up furniture. There was quite a bit of trash strewn around. At the bar sat a large man Zinnia recognized from photos as Victoria’s father, Old Man Gonzap. Seeing him from this perspective, he looked much more intimidating. Zinnia certainly wouldn’t have dared to make any comments on his figure too his face. He occasionally glanced at the horrifying bloody scene in front of him, but did nothing. Notably, Victoria’s brother Wes was conspicuously absent.
Zinnia was so startled by this that she stumbled backwards. She whipped around immediately and rushed back into the jungle, grabbing tree branches and swinging off of them. Once she was a decent distance away she stopped, hiding in one of the trees. She breathed heavily, trying to calm herself down. She had always assumed Victoria must have had fucked up dreams but never anything like this. That woman was carrying a lot of trauma. She had been hurt so she was hurting the world back.
Zinnia glanced down at her feet and noticed something, one of her feet was caked in mud. This wasn’t unusual, she walked around barefoot, but she had been very careful to step lightly so as to avoid leaving any footprints. The amount of mud on her foot indicated that she had left at least one footprint. Meaning somebody might find out she was here. There was only one thing to do. Zinnia, despite what she had just witnessed, grinned a devious grin. Look out Victoria, there’s a ghost on your island.

favorite bit in Steven Universe- the "man, I don't get cartoons these days" style fourth wall break
#just... steven universe as a show constantly commenting on cartoons while it ITSELF is a cartoon...#it's fascinating to me bc it injects an added dose of like... realism into events.#like we're Visualizing steven's life as a 'cartoon' but for him this is just. his existence#like HE watches cartoons and animes and all that#he's a real living person in the world of the show who has a whole life off the screen#saying it once again- number one way to make your worlds feel more lived-in is to invent fictional media that exists WITHIN the world#su#steven universe#greg universe#amethyst#pearl#garnet#connie maheswaran#sardonyx#su edit#my video stuff

Emergency First Aid
He finds Ghost in the bathroom, needle and thread in crimson-stained hands.
White porcelain muddled with grime and blood, smeared across the cubicle glass. A bottle of something see-through sitting on the lip of the tub – the label near illegible by the fingerprints wrapped around it. Every detail pointing towards it being a scene from some B-list horror flick. Except it can't be. Because Johnny’s nails dig into the palms of his hands and pain has no presence in dreams.
Ghost's skin is almost as pale as the cradle he sits in. Johnny can see the stark blue of his veins through the fragile skin of his wrists. A far more flattering colour on him than red, it's why he pretends he doesn’t know where his favourite henley ended up.
"Get out of my fucking room, Soap."
Johnny nods and then proceeds further into the room, careful to avoid the droplets of blood staining the tiles in a fucked-up breadcrumb trail.
Ghost levels him with an unamused glare, a non-verbal "go away," ringing louder than if he'd said it outright.
He ignores that too.
The stitching is neither crude nor neat when he leans in for a closer look. Serviceable. Bound to scar. It might have regardless, medical ain't miracle workers, but it might, might have left a thinner mark.
"Soap?"
Ghost's eyes are brown as jasper, doe-wide, extruding exhaustion and warmth – in spite of how much effort he puts into burying that bleeding heart of his. They track Johnny’s progress warily. Glides over him when he wraps his own fingers around the bottle, fingers a good half-inch shorter than the red stains already there. Johnny knows all this despite not looking. Because they've been here before. Too often for his liking.
He sets about cleaning the tacky trails of blood from Ghost’s skin.
"Johnny?"
Why are his hands shaking? They're not supposed to do that he doesn't think.
"It's just a scratch, I've had worse."
His tongue unsticks from where it lies dead and heavy in his mouth. "I fuckin' know. 'M not blind."
Warm, calloused hands envelop his own. They stop him from digging deeper welts into his own skin. Massages gently until Johnny, against his will, unclenches and unfolds like a flowering bloom at the first hint of sunlight.
"This won't be what kills me–"
"Haud yer wheesht! Whit this shoddy excuse fer sutures anything's–"
"–because I've no intention of leaving you yet," Ghost– Simon continues, as if Johnny hadn't interrupted him at all. "I've clawed myself back from the edge of hell more times than I care to count." He knocks their heads together, one hand moving to thread fingers though Johnny’s hair. "It's much easier now that I have something to come back to."
Johnny takes a moment to process and sift through the wreckage those words leave behind.
"Take yer damn mask off an' say tha' to my face," he growls.
And Simon doesn't hesitate for a second. He peels the mask off, his second skin, as if it's easier than breathing. As if Johnny’s words were the decree of a higher power he's helpless to obey. Scarred skin and chapped lips and dark circles blending into greasepaint greets him – a sight no longer unfamiliar, but a privilege to behold nonetheless.
"I-" is as far as Simon comes before Johnny is surging forward to take his bottom lip between his teeth. He kisses him like something feral and starved. As if he could crawl into Simon's mouth if he tried hard enough. Push through muscle, bone and sinew to make space for himself in the hollow of his ribcage.
He doesn't like the anger with which he devours him – the ever-present companion snarling in his chest – but he needs him to understand. Thinks that if he tries hard enough Simon might taste the words lodged firmly behind his molars. I can't stand to lose you. It scares me to the point of losing my breath. I love you. I love you. I love you.
For all his rage, for all the fiery passion with which he lashes out, in the end it all stems from fear.
"Could've at least gone to medical, ye absolute weapon," he bites out, one hand stressing over the skin right beneath Simon's wound.
"Couldn't stand the thought of anyone touching me," Simon murmurs, catching Johnny’s wrist the moment he goes to pull away as if burnt. "'S better now. I'd have told you to fuck off proper if I didn't–" he cuts himself off, the tips of his ears going pink.
Johnny fills in the blanks, eyes falling shut for the fraction of a second.
"Dinnae deep down wan' me to be here."
Simon shrugs.
Johnny exhales, leans forward and rests his forehead to Simon's shoulder, kisses him sweetly right after.
"Let me help you."
"Please."
He's glad to be looking at Simon now because Simon, whenever Ghost has fled his visage, is an open book. And the way he's looking at Johnny? It's as if he'd taken every soft, sweet thing Johnny feels for him and is reflecting it right back.
With another steadying breath, Johnny gets to work. Gauze and adhesive tape, as quick as he dares so as to not prolong the pain. And when he's done he brushes his lips over the white bandaging, looking up through his lashes when the simple gesture of affection causes Simon's breath to hitch. Keeps to his knees despite the ache in them.
"You come to me next time," Johnny says, a plea more so than the demand he'd hoped for.
Simon reaches for him, cups his stubbled cheek in hand, thumb rubbing in broad strokes across a near imperceptible scar there – his next words ringing with the gravity of church bells and promises spoken within.
"Alright, Johnny."

not to be the guy that’s only talking about mizu5, but I think the impact of it is so interesting. obviously it’s going to have the impact of handling a trans character’s story really well —something that is so important as we continue to progress as a society— and I think it’s also a testament to how much these things can blow up. handling a queer character’s story well is going to make a really good impression among audiences (at least, the ones that are progressively becoming louder and louder in the grand scheme of things). I’ve seen this event bringing people into proseka too, which there’s something to be said there
it’s so interesting to me how much this event has spread outside of the immediate and related fandoms for project sekai (think enstars, bang!dream, etc.), onto completely random people’s social media feeds. the amount of tweets I’ve seen from random ass accounts talking about this is kind of fascinating
like this is just some guy. and I’m obsessed with it.
anyways. big game companies or tv studios. make more trans and queer characters that have care and understanding put into their storylines. it will pay off and age incredibly well and bring you more money
#project sekai#mizu5#less about the event itself and more about surrounding stuff#transgender#transfem#trans character#no but seriously. I think companies and such need to realize that making well written queer characters is going to pay off and bring in $$$#i also think that this event is gonna be some what historical (let me be a bit dramatic)#because it’s handling a story of outing in a game that’s about tapping the screen to vocaloid songs#yet this is one of the best storylines about being outed that I can recall#anyways that’s it for now. I’ll talk about different proseka stuff soon I prommy#see you all at 25:00am

Off-Screen Event - A Break
Mare woke up to somebody stroking her hair. When… when had she fallen asleep. What was the last thing she remembered… right, the Pikachu. The Pikachu that was her…
“Marie… Marie sweetie, please don’t cry.” That voice. That was her mom’s… wasn’t it? Was she back home? No, this didn’t feel like her bed… or the couch. She glanced around the room from her rather limited position. It was… was she in an infirmary of some sort. She was surrounded by blurry shapes. No… people. Those were people.
Slowly, she sat up, wiping the rain, no not rain, tears out of her eyes. The people surrounding her… it was her family. Archie, Maxie, Courtney, Norman. The new girls Kai and Nicky. Even Byrd was there, looking slightly uncomfortable surrounded by people she loathed but still there nonetheless.
“Oh thank the Guardian.” Byrd said. “You’re awake.”
“Aye. We were worried about ya, little scamp.” Archie said.
“Thank goodness… you’re awake…” Courtney said in her usual odd inflection.
“We were”
“So worried”
“About you.” The twins said, finishing each other's sentences.
“Courtney says you passed out halfway here.” Norman said. “Guess you tired yourself out when your emotions caught up to you, huh?”
Maxie didn’t say anything, but he was smiling in relief. He was smiling more and more these days. Mare even noticed that his usual wrinkles were beginning to look more like smile lines.
The person behind her hugged her tightly and rocked her back and forth. Mare realized it was her mom.
“Its okay, you’re going to be okay.” She said soothingly, stroking her hair.
“But I… But I…” Mare began stuttering.
“But nothing.” Byrd said. “Skies above, Mare, you’ve pushed yourself too hard for too long. You need to take a break.” “I… I…” Mare stuttered. But she couldn’t think straight. Not just because of how tired she was but because of how warm and comforting her mother’s hug was. It was like she was a kid again. Except… she was still a kid. She was 17 wasn’t she. “A break… sounds nice…” she said for perhaps the first time ever. She closed her eyes.

[off screen event!
Cooper is sitting in his room on a wednesday morning, on his bed. a few of his pokemon are in the room with him, munching on berries, napping, or playing with each other. He's sitting on his bed, petting Sprout, thinking hard about something. He looks a bit nervous. There's an extra mattress on the floor on the opposite side of his room, with blankets and pillows on it. Atlas ( @spitefulfoxx ) had been sleeping there for the past few days. Oliver seems to be taking a nap on Atlas's pillow.
The door clicks, and Atlas walks in, with his Scorbunny following behind him. He stops to pet it, before sitting down on his mattress and pulling out a book.
Cooper takes in a deep breath. it's now or never.
"Hey, Atlas.. I have a question?
Atlas looks up from his book
"What's up?"
Cooper pauses nervously, but Sprout nudges them to continue.
"So.. you said you wanted to be a strong pokemon trainer, right?"
Atlas smiles and pets his scorbunny
"Yep, that's right"
Cooper pauses for a few more moments, before carrying on
"Do you.. do you want to be rivals? We can train with each other and compete with each other to make each other stronger!- Well, if you're okay with that"
Atlas's smile grows wider
"That sounds great! I'd love to be your rival"
Cooper smiles, relived that it went well
"So.. it's a deal then? Best rivals for life?"
Atlas nods
"Best rivals for life!"

I think I'm less disappointed with the finale than others because I was there for the me3 finale debacle lol
The bad part is that me3 finale made sense. It was just um, straight up one of the worst ideas they could ever think of, but it made- sigh.
Here you have like, the perfect build up, the stakes are me2 level of "if I fucked up during the pt my friends are gonna pay the price", and closure with your companions. However it's contradictory asf, it forces you to break immersion and, in the wrongest moment for a rational thought makes you say "wait, why are we back to step 1? what about the bli- aw the lost elf theme ;; hold on, why aren't you bringing up the things that has been repeated nonstop via super long expositions throughout the game?? MR. MORRIS COME BACK, CONFUSE ME AGAIN"
It's gorgeous, but it doesn't make sense, and then it does, and then it doesn't again. I am confusion
Back in my days (lmaooo) we got an apology and a 2gb free dlc called "extended cut" that was like this meme
but it did patch only a few things. The finale stayed there. Immutable
and we only had to presume what went wrong during development, but then we all saw the artbook and agreed that maybe there were interferences from above and that the real treasure was the friends we made along the way and that would die horribly if you had 50% or less of reactivity that you could raise only by playing the multiplayer and those who were playing the game on a console had to spend money to gain access to it
Yeah, I don't think they're good at finales. "But at least"
#dav spoilers#veilguard spoilers#phylactery#bioware critical#dav critical#and fucking hell#me3 critical#<- this is a defunct tag guys you have no idea the trauma it brings back#I'm trying to remind myself that 'there is worse'#I just finished talking about this and I needed to order my thoughts lol#story repeating itself yada yada#I remember my ex playing me3 for two days straight from the day it came out. no sleep#food in front of a screen and days off school to finish the darn game because it was An Event. THE climax#and one morning I woke up and saw him in the kitchen looking at the wall with the void between his lids#'you have no idea' he said in the softest most heartbroken voice#then went straight to sleep lol#I always say that dav reminds me of me2 and like#that game has one of the best ending I've seen in action media lol#1 and 2 had great finales actually#but when it comes to final final definitive endings um#leaving earth starts playing and I'm crying on the kitchen floor#cause betrayed by beloved media
