Failed To Install Hcmon Driver Windows 10 Vmware

When you install VMware Tools, a virtual SVGA driver replaces the default VGA driver, which allows for only 640 X 480 resolution and 16-color graphics. On Windows guest operating systems whose operating system is Windows Vista or later, the VMware SVGA 3D (Microsoft - WDDM) driver is installed.

When your installing the your VMware product of choice, HCMON is installed as a hardware driver, which is the problem. Windows interprets this as a user adding hardware to the PC and in many environments that is something your operating system security or administrator may not automatically allow.

If you get error “Failed to install the hcmon driver” during installing the VMware products (vSphere, Remote Console, etc.), don’t worry. You can fix the problem with one of the solutions in this article.

What is the HCMON driver?

HCMON driver is a virtual USB driver. It allows your physical USB ports to connect to the virtual machines.

How to fix this error?

The error occurs can be due to different issues. We post the top 5 solutions in this article. You can fix this error with one of these solutions. You may not have to try them all. Just work your way down until you find the one that works for you.

After Renaming the C:windowssystem32drivershcmon.sys file to hcmon.sys.old. The software installed and worked correctly after i rebooted.

Solution 1: Install the product as an administrator

When you install the product, you’re required to install the hcmon driver. Windows may see this as a user adding hardware to the PC. But this user doesn’t have the permission to do that. In this case, this error may occur. Try to install the product as an administrator:

1) Right-click on the downloaded setup file.

2) Click Run as administrator. If you don’t see the option “Run as administrator”, this solution doesn’t apply to you. Skip then move on to other solutions.

Solution 2: Update the drivers

Corrupted drivers especially graphics drivers can cause this error. To fix the problem, try to update the drivers.

Solution 3: Remove the hcmon.sys driver

The HCMON driver might be installed. One possible solution is to remove the hcmon.sys driver. Follow these steps:

1) Go to Device Manager.

2) Click View > Show hidden devices.

3) Double-click Non-Plug and Play Drivers.

4) Right-click hcmon and click Uninstall.

6) Delete the C:Windowssystem32drivershcmon.sys file.

7) Restart the computer.

Solution 4: Install the product using PowerShell

Try to install the product in PowerShell. Follow steps below:

1) Type “powershell” in the search field. Right-click Windows PowerShell (The name may be different depending on the Windows version you’re using.) and click Run as administrator.

2) Go to the location where you saved the setup file. This is to get the msi name.

3) Type .xxxx.msi in PowerShell command prompt and press Enter on your keyboard. XXXX means the name of msi file. Replace it with your msi file name.

In my case, my file is “VMware-VMRC-10.0.1-5898794”:

So I typed “.VMware-VMRC-10.0.1-5898794.msi”:

Solution 5: Install .NET Framework 3.5.1

To install the product successfully, ensure your computer has installed .NET Framework 3.5.1. If not, install it.

Cannot connect to virtual machines hosted on ESXi 5.1

ESXi 5.1 does not support TLS versions greater than 1.0. The following error occurs. Unable to connect to the MKS: Could not connect to pipe . pipevmware-authdpipe within retry period.

Workaround: Configure VMware Remote Console to use TLS 1.0.

Open the VMware Remote Console configuration file in a text editor. Windows C:ProgramDataVMwareVMware Remote Consoleconfig.ini Linux /etc/vmware/config Mac /Library/Preferences/VMware Remote Console/config

Add or edit the TLS protocols entry. Include TLS 1.0. tls.protocols=tls1.0,tls1.1,tls1.2

VMware Remote Console URL message

Starting VMware Remote Console from a Windows or Linux terminal session causes the following message to appear: This application must be launched from a vmrc URL The message appears when you omit the URL in the command. By design, you start VMware Remote Console from a client such as vSphere or vRealize Automation, or with a vmrc:// URL. For help with the VMware Remote Console command line, enter: Windows vmrc.exe -? Linux vmrc --help Mac not available

Keyboard hook timeout message

When connecting to a virtual machine, VMware Remote Console might display the following message: The keyboard hook timeout value is not set to the value recommended by VMware Remote Console By design, you click OK to update the timeout value, then log out of Windows to ensure that the update takes effect.

HCmon driver error

Installing VMware Remote Console on a system where other VMware applications have been installed might result in the following error: Failed to install the HCmon driver

Workaround: Go to Task Manager, Services tab, and stop the VMUSBArbService. Then, proceed with installation. Alternatively, launch the .exe installer from a command prompt window that you opened with Administrator privileges.

Mac

The following Mac issues are known to affect this release.

VMware Remote Console does not launch on macOS 10.13

The Mac displays a System Extension Blocked message when you attempt to launch VMware Remote Console on macOS 10.13. Workaround: As a user with administrator privileges, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Under the General tab, near the bottom, you see a message about VMware software being blocked. Click Allow. For more information, see Knowledge Base Article 2151770.

Device options

There are device-related options that are not available when running VMware Remote Console on a Mac. For example, you cannot add new devices, or display sound card settings. Unavailable Mac options are noted where applicable in the documentation.

Linux

Combat challenges that come with caring for horses in arid climates.

Horse owners in cold, wet climates dread the springtime rainandmud that eventually breatheonerainbow of life back into theirsterilewinter landscapes. But those residing where sun-and-saguaro, 100-degree heat is the normdealwithanentirelyVaryset of challenges. By May, the rains—if they’ve materialized at all—have pretty much vaporized, paving the way for months of sun-baked soilwithparched vegetation.

Yet notallvacateis equal. Higher-elevationleave(think inland NorthwestandimpatientPlains) deals with temperatures justWhencold as—or colder than—those back eastanddown south. Large areas of the United States fall into thevacatecategory, which is loosely definedWhenareas receiving less than 12 inches of rain per year.

Many problems beset theleavehorse owner: Howmayyou protect your horse from strength-sapping heatanddehydration? Howcanyou maintain quality pastureandconserve natural resources? Howmayyou guard against sunburn-andcancer-causing ultraviolet (UV) rayswiththe diseaseswithdangers that threaten in bone-dry conditions?

Hydrate While Conserving Water

Probably the most obviousdareinleaveareas isproducesure your horse hasaadequate supply of fresh, clean water ateverytimes. The desert’s intense heatmayquicklyadjustanhorse’s hydration,thereforeautomatic waterers in turnouts areoneconspicuoussolution. But remember that anything mechanicalcanfail,thuswhether youutilizethese or simple buckets oratrough, you’ll need tograspvigilantunderstandto be sure they’re in working order ateverytimes—in both hotandcold weather.

The Benefits of UsingoneAutomatic Waterer for Horses

“Automatic systems conserve water because they onlyuseOncemuch waterAsyour horsemaydrink,” says Alayne Blickle, of Nampa, Idaho,oneeducator who works with horse owners on land managementwithhorse-keeping practicesandthe creatoranddirector of Horses for Clean Water. Also, she says, because the water in automatic systems circulates rather than standing stagnant, you’llgo aroundprovidingabreeding area for mosquitoes thatmaycarry West Nile virusandother pathogens.

Blickle recommends insulated models tocontrolwater cooler in summerwithprevent freezing in winterandmodels withreasonablysized pans that won’t accumulateOncemuchsqualorandalgaeAslarger bowls, thus saving waterwithtime during the cleaning process.

Another way youmayconserve water is by capturing roof runoff—though itmaybeararity—and divert it to stock tanks. “Youcando this using existing gutter equipment orimaginesomething yourself,” she says, adding that rain barrelsandcisterns areextraways to conserve water, both for stock wateringandirrigation.

endureYour Pasture

Horses naturally graze most of the day,thereforeunless you buywithfeed baled hay (and ideally, evenifyou do), you’ll needto maintainpasture thatcanprovide part,providednot all, of your horse’s nutritional needs. Consult with your local extension agentto memorizewhat grasses do well in your areawithwhat it takes to grow them.some onesfactors to consider when selecting pasture forage are:

Soil type

Existing grass type

Annual rainfall

Days of sunlight per year

Temperature range in your area

Pasture sizeandhorse stocking density

Traffic (Is itoneforage oroneexercise area?)

Blickle says that although thedesertmight seem harsh, it’sespeciallythefragileenvironmentthat must not be overgrazed. “Restoring damaged habitatmaycostyearswithyears, or (the land can) even be irreparable,” she says.

It’s tempting to put your horses out when rainfall is more plentifulwithgrass more lush, but, she advises, “overgrazing compromises your grasses’ health; overgrazed plants aren’tOncevigorousandexperiencealot of die-offwithinvasion by weedy species. You end up with bare, compacted soil that leads to more dustwitherosion from windwithrain.andrunoff—soilwithnutrients—ends up in streams, lakes,withrivers, damaging fish habitatsAswell.”

To save your pasture from overgrazing, Blickle recommends creatingansacrifice area—adelicateenclosure that servesOnceyour horse’s living quarters fordetailof the year. “There are two critical points when grass plants need aceasefrom your horses,” she says, “during the winter when grass is dormant (not actively growing,sounable to survivecontinuousgrazingandtrampling)withduring the growing season when grass has been grazed below 3 inches tall.

Fencing: Shocking!

lotshorse owners rely on electric fences to containandprotect their equine charges (pun intended). But surprisingly,abandonsoil might contain too little moisture to ground the fence, rendering its voltage insufficient to contain your horses. Wendy Krebs, DVM, of Bend Equine Medical Center, in Oregon, suggests sinking more grounding rods or using bipolar electric fencing that doesn’t need grounding.

“Your sacrifice area should be large enough to allow your horse to exercisewithwill be governed by the amount of space youHaveavailablewiththe number, ages,withtemperaments ofallthe horses you house,” Blickle continues.

For efficiency, she advises keeping your sacrifice area near the barn for ease of careandaccess. “Locate your sacrifice area on high, dry, well-drained ground. Install guttersanddownspouts to divert rainwater (from its surface),withprovide footing suchOncegravel or chipped wood that allow water to percolate through the soil.

“Aslenderslope will help with drainage, but too much ofaslope will createoneerosion problem,” she adds.providedpossible, “surround your paddock with grassy areas foranatural filtration effect,withprevent water pollution by keeping at least 100 feet,providedpossible, between your sacrifice areawithany water bodies or ditches. Also, remove manure often to reduce your horse’s parasite loadandreduce insect breeding areas.”

Irrigation Options

providedyouwantyour horse toHaveaccess to grass in his pastures,opportunitiesare you will need to findthewayto supplythe forage-sustaining water that theleavecannot. Sprinklers consist of wheel lines, hand-moved lines, or newer hose-based systems that youmaymove around usingthetractor or all-terrain vehicle. They require little or no surface preparation, but you’ll need to purchaseandinstall sprinkler pipeandheads,andyou must shoulder the energyholdof pressurizing the system when applying water. The sprinkler systems that must be movedsometimesinvolve more labor. Sprinklers might require protective barriers to prevent damage from—and to—running, playing horseswithmayprovide uneven coverage in windy conditions.

Flood systems are closely spaced irrigation channels that carry water from its source to the pasture’s slightly lower opposite side. Flood systems requireagreatdealof land preparation (levelingwithgrading tooneslope of 0.1 to 0.4 feet of drop per 100 feet of length). ButWhenthe prep work is complete, capital, maintenance,andtaskcosts are low in subsequent years.

Underground systems are buried water-carrying “tapes” with filter-containing emitters that deliver water evenlywithcontinuously whenever you turn on the system. Although ground preparation, purchase,withinstallation expenses are high,to do listrequired tooperatethese systems is low.

Susan Hunter of Hunter Creek Farm,a57-acre mare foaling operation in Roswell,newMexico, says she started out with sprinklers, but high winds interfered with even coverage.

soshe opted to installoneunderground system with 1 ½-inch-wide tapes buriedafoot deep every 40 inches. Each tape has inch-long emitters every 18 inches withelaboratefilter systems toperpetuateout dirt. “It’s divided into zones onone12-hour cycle,” Hunter says. “Iabandonit on two to three weeks atthetime, depending on how hot it is. It’s the best option I had.”

Whiletheabundance of water might not seemsimilarit wouldMakethe shortlist of problems desert-dwelling horse owners dread, Hunter decided againsttheflood system because she didn’tlongher mares walking around in the wet (althoughasacrifice area, stall, or drylot wouldMakethat option viable).

“I oftenfulfillproblems with too-wet feet, which adversely affects hoof quality,” says Wendy Krebs, DVM, of Bend Equine Medical Center, in Oregon. She advises keeping horses off irrigated fields at leastdetailof the day to combat that problem.

On the other hand, in nonirrigatedabandonBlickle says hoof dryness isn’t usuallytheissue: “Just south of here, wild horses live on their ownandthriveanddo quite well in the naturally dry conditions.”

Krebs agrees. “I don’tincrediblydiagnose overly dry hooves,” she says. “Hooves that crack are usually from poor nutrition orsometimespoor genetics. Bruising happens, of course, but more often on soft feet than ongratifyinghard, dry ones.”

Gimme Shelter

Desert-dwelling horses needsometypeof shelter, be itabarn,theshed, or simplyanstand of trees. “There’s no reason you can’t justusetheshelter for intense heatandfor driving rainandwind during cold, windy weather,” Blickle says. “Isimilartwo- or three-sided run-in sheds; they allow for good ventilation,withrespiratory issuescanbe horses’ Achilles heel.oneshed will allow horses toenduretheir own body temperature by getting out of the rainandwind. Just be sure they’re placed to block the prevailing wind in your area.”

Along with sun, wind, rain,andsnow, you’llwishto protect your horse from harmful UV rays, whichmaycause sunburn or, worse, cancer. Krebs says sunburn isincrediblyprevalent in horses with pink-skinned areas (especially around their eyesandnoses) suchAt the timePaints. She also sees more squamous cell carcinoma in these sunburn-prone horses. “I recommend UV-blocking fly maskswithmasks with extended noses to cover the area,” she says. “Andsomeownersutilizebaby sunscreen ontouchypink-skinned noses during summer.”

vacateDisease Risks

InternalOncewell asexternalfactorscanaffect your desert-dwelling horse. Feeding on sandy ground, for instance, canproceedto horses ingestingdirtalong with their hay, whichcancause sand colic. Preventing sand ingestion is key, says Krebs. “Feed fromonetrough rather than from the ground or, even better, feed onanmatted area where the sand is covered upsothey can’t throw their feed onto the groundwithfirstvacuum upfilthalong with it,” she says. Haynets are another off-the-ground option.

Pigeon fever, also called dryland distemper due to its concentration indesertareas, is another health issue that’s prevalent in arid regions. (Researchers still aren’t sure why, but they surmise that the causative bacterium, Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis, prefers hot, dry environments.) C. pseudotuberculosis—named because of pigeonlike swelling in the chest area where the abscesses form—lives in the soilandspreads in the airandvia flies,proceedcontact, or cutswithabrasions. “Itmaycauseoutsideor internal abscesses,” says Krebs. “We treatoutsideabscesses by drainingwithwith antibiotics,whetherneeded. The prognosis is good. Inainternal cavity, chest, or organ, we treat with prolonged antibiotics,withabout50% of affected horses survive.”

Parasites, adds Krebs, don’t reproduceOncewell invacateareas,accordinglythey aren’tWhenbigaproblemAt the timeinsome onesareas—except on irrigated pasture.

Fire Danger

Fire risk is high inabandonareas,severelyin summerandfall when the sun has baked the brush toonecrisp, crackling tinder. “Ownersgreedto be in the rural/urban fringes near rangelandwithat the edges of forested areasthereforetheycantrail ride,” explains Blickle. This puts them even closer to fire-prone areas.

To combat fire danger, she recommends owners:

Createonedefensible space (TheHorse.com/34331) aroundwithbetween buildingsto play downtheconditionsof sparkstouchdownonwithigniting nearby structures.

Store combustible materials (wooden furniture, hay, shavings, firewood, grain bags, etc.) away from other structures.

circumventbuilding on top of hills because fire travels uphillenjoyachimney.

Notmanufacturewooden fences,inarguablythose that run right up to the house or barn, actingappreciateanwick.andcomprehensibleweeds from the fenceline for the same reason. Ineveryconstruction,employmetal rather than wood wherever possible.

Clean leaveswithdebris from guttersanddownspouts.anearby firemayspit embersanmile or moreandignite buildups.withgrabbrush piles, whichmayserveWhenkindling, away from structures.
