oh yeah the difference where all mordecai's pieces are still on his half of the board, and viktor foraying across that halfway point already....plus the just like expressive differences where viktor is probably just passing the time hanging out while mordecai is taking chess completely seriously in the 90th dimension
all i know about chess is where the pieces go and how they move and maybe a few bonus ideas, but that's it and i never learned to be good at it or anything so it's like, you never know when anyone with more knowledge would be like "yes that's unmistakably the configuration of a reverse forager's shimmy" or something
#playing chess; like bootlegging or murder; is about having fun and being yourself#which i do imagine they're both doing here#not like mordecai seems to have any problem going on the offensive when it comes to [fray at the lodge; more a proper slaughter] afterwards#but that doesn't mean that a) he's more defensive / discretionary / just less Chaotic than others with it or b) that his approach to his#hitman role is the same as his approach to his chessplaying#and viktor gets to just kind of hang out and not be that pressed about it. while mordecai being pressed abt it doesn't mean torment or lack#of enrichment; more the opposite lol. 🔪 ⇢ what’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
super boring answer it's just sex stuff. 👍
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
this thieves den conversation.
this one.
what does this mean what does it all mean. here's what i think.
so, they're both entirely aware of the parallels -- we know already that yusuke is, he has said as much in the story, but good to know that it's mutual, okay. i think they're being catty to each other here because neither of them is done processing his own backstory, and since their processing uses such oppositely aligned lenses, the attempt to connect over it just leaves them both irritated.
note that akechi is the one initiating the attempt -- "look, my dad fucking sucks! you understand, right?" and he's playing nice! he's not being a bitch even a little! he only starts sneering back after yusuke snaps at him first:
uncalled for like actually lol. i think this is a bit of a defensive move -- he doesn't really want his own view on his own piece of shit father figure to be challenged, so he bristles at akechi's honestly entirely understandable comment.
aand immediately elaborates in pretty deep emotional detail. it's giving... genuinely wanting to talk about it with akechi, but the topic is so sensitive that the first clash of conflicting opinions has both their hackles going up.
being mean right back now, but what fascinates me about this response is that you just kind of have to watch the hands this entire conversation, because the 'him' in question here switches without like, any acknowledgment of the change of referent. akechi he wasn't talking about your dad except for how he obviously also was except for how he wasn't aaaaa
so: both of them are allegedly trying to prove a point/arguing, but all the actual arguments boil down to "here's how i feel! look how i feel!". it's a kind of self-recognition through the other that they both want validated, but they're too invested in that to engage with the opposing point of view, and instead skip to calling each other names. but also, i think, this is them figuring out their own feelings off of each other, and i like to imagine in a context where they get to interact more that could be a kernel for genuine successful connection. that is, at first the conversations would keep being frustrating, but in such an "and another thing--" way that makes them both want to keep coming back for more. there *is* potential for a valuable exchange of feelings and experiences there, one that would be enriching for both sides, and i think they would be able to feel it beneath the mutually defensive reactions and that's what makes not reaching it so irritating. so i think they really should, and would want to, talk more. i also think they should kiss about it with tongue
#mie.txt#i'm sleep deprived and not good at meta but I JUST THINK AOBUT THEM EVERY DAY SO MUCH#silver im sorry you dont even know these people but i appreciate you expressing interest anyway#i dont know why the pictures got so chewed up...#btw this whole take is informed by characterization jams with @floodbender so some of the points are theirs... jointly developed conclusions

How do people make friends? I really struggle to connect with people.
I’ve had close friend before, like in middle school. And I really cherish those memories. I still care for those friends but we grew apart as time went on. But things have been hard for me ever since especially now in uni it’s hard
you should ask someone who wants to make friends xdd
I am not the type of person who seeks social interaction, so I can't say I have consistent experience on this. But I do understand that, for most, friendships are essential for enrichment of life itself. Therefore, to make friends in your areas of interest, you need to put yourself in situations where those people interact and speak to those that interest you.
The reason why it is so easy to make friends when you're younger is 1) promixity - if you're in some type of school, all of the children there already have a shared experience (education? hopefully, lol) and 2) fearlessness - you're not afraid to put yourself out there. You don't yet have repeated experiences of disagreements, rejection, awkwardness, learning the difficulties of reconciliation, etc. When you're in school, you all have something to talk about that's everyone around you is going through.
Once you move to university and beyond, however, these two things change. Individuals are trying to hone their area of expertise, find who they are, and everyone is on a different path. You might also become more apprehensive about approaching others because you don't know what they've been through and they don't know what you've been through. It's also hard to make friends in adulthood since there's no "central place" to easily make friends.
To make friends in adulthood, you need to 1) put yourself in places where people gather that share your interests (to have something in common / jumpstart a convo) and 2) know what kind of people you want to be friends with. For example, if you want to have friends to work out with, go to specific gym classes that you're interested in. Go to food festivals if you're a big foodie. Concerts, comedy shows, video game tournaments - there's tons of options, both free and some you need to pay for. You can even make online friends. If there's a genre of YouTube videos you're always watching, comment on those videos. Engage with social media accounts that interest you. You can't be a lurker - you gotta put yourself out there to people you would like to be friends with.
Which brings me to my second point - determine what kinds of people you want to be friends with. Do you want people going through a similar path as you in life? Or different paths to learn from? Do you want people to inspire you? Do you want a group to do something specific with? People also have types of personalities they best get along with too. Are you someone who is low energy and need someone higher energy? The opposite? Similar energy level? Go into it with an open mind ofc, but I think it's good to have an idea if the kinds of people you want to be around so you're not overwhelmed. You don't need to have any great expectations. People don't become best friends right away. You can also have different friends for your different areas of interest (ex: kpop friends who are not the same people as your workout buddies, etc). The depth of relationships occurs over time and requires emotional chemistry. Compatability depends on willingness if both parties. Don't force it too much; let what comes naturally happen.
Go out and do stuff you're interested in. Talk to people. Allow others to approach you. Be okay with rejecting those that aren't the kinds of people you want to surround yourself with. Doesn't mean they're bad. Maybe they're just not clicking with you right now. Be okay with being rejected - it's not personal. Maybe they're having a bad day or they're looking for a different type of person.
but
I'm not really an expert on this, this is just information I received from others way more sociable than I am which is not that difficult lol all I wanna do is play video games and hang out with my cat
y-yeah this cat ofc
and a bunbun

hi! just wanted to drop by for two things:
a) had to let you know your writing style is BONKERS stellar, so, so good and succinct without undercutting the human emotion within each character you touch; just...you are incredible!
b) I've personally been wondering this for a long while, but have finally decided to just ask: why do you exclusively write canon compliant works? is it because that's what you find most comfortable? is it because you cannot picture anything beyond what's canon? or is it something else? I ask mostly because for a while I have seen many people in the fandom add this to their bios, which kinda turns me off of them (not due to writing, just a preference!), and it's rooted itself inside my brain and, well, here I am.
but I honestly really do adore everything I have read from you, you capture everyone's voices so masterfully I can't help but be enthralled (that Lee Jordan bit for Winter Sun? need more of that POV!).
so, yeah, hope this reaches you well, sorry for bothering! x
First of all, THANK YOU, Anon 🥺 I'm in the thick of a really horrible cold right now, and your words brightened my day. I'm really quite proud of my writing style at this moment in time. I've worked hard over the years at developing a style that balances conciseness and evocation - it's something I struggled with a lot when I first started writing, which you might notice if you read my older fics, so it always makes me genuinely thrilled when people comment on that. (Also, I'm delighted you enjoyed my recent Lee ficlet, I have so much fondness for his character, and hope to write more of him!)
As to why I'm a canon-compliant writer, it actually has very little to do with personal comfort - in fact, I love being pushed out of my comfort zone when I write, it's why my fics feature such a wide range of characters. I almost dislike the word "compliant" sometimes, as it has a bit of a…resigned vibe to it? The reason my works are canon-compliant is because what stimulates me, personally, when it comes to writing fanfiction is envisioning and creating different sides and dimensions to the canon universe. I enjoy the unique challenge that is posed by having to build upon, enrich, and add nuance to the characters and themes introduced to us in canon, while still working within the general parameters of that universe. The recent Winter Sun fest by @harrypocter, for example, has been an incredible writing experience for me - it's been so invigorating to add depth and culture and life to these characters of color, to create rich stories around those small mentions of them we got in the series.
Do I think that the canon universe is perfect? Of course not. I think this is a common experience for those of us who grew up with the series - as we matured, we naturally applied a more critical lens to books that we obsessively loved as children. A reputation that canon-compliant authors often have is that we are completely devoted to the source material and glorify it, when in fact, it's usually the opposite. It's been one of my favorite parts of engaging with this fandom as an adult, reading these incredibly nuanced metas and focused analyses of canon characters and plot lines, and then writing fics that incorporate my newly enhanced understanding. (I'll take this opportunity to rec one of my absolute favorite metas by @ashesandhackles that expertly breaks down all the problems within the series' house-elf-related arc.)
To conclude this wildly long answer lol, it's not that I see myself as trapped within the canon sandbox. Rather, what engages me most is making new things out of the sand. I will add that as a reader, I enjoy AU fic, particularly canon divergence AU, and there are so many truly stellar AU authors out there. One of the great things about this fandom is that because of how enormous it is, there are infinite niches and sub-fandoms. Despite the author's truly harmful actions (I will always support the rights and dignity of trans people and will never monetarily support jkr again), fans put time and care into making this space more inclusive and diverse every year.
Thanks again for the lovely comments ❤️

So I think there's maybe not that much we disagree on here - again, I do think both Stark sisters would serve well in the role, even whilst they have different strengths. To respond to your points directly though:
What makes you say this for example? Arya herself asked Ned this: "Can I be a king's councillor and build castles and become the High Septon?" Judging from this, Arya does have interest in fixed roles.
I don't make much of this honestly. Arya's just parroting roles that Ned has just said might be suitable for Bran, and the line primarily exists so that Ned can then explain the extremely limited alternatives for women. These aren't fixed roles that Arya has any particular interest in elsewhere, it's just a kid scoping out what possibilities there are in the world - only to be told that there's essentially one.
What makes you think that Arya would want to use her freedom traveling around? When did she ever expresed a desire to do so?
I think it's less about Arya saying 'I'd really like to travel the world' so much as how we can see on the page the interest and engagement Arya shows in learning new cultures and languages. She is also strongly tied to water and sailing motifs: travelling to Braavos, spending her time at the docks learning about the sailors, where they've come from and where they're going (this is even described as her favourite thing). She enjoys living aboard the Titan's Daughter, and quickly picks up dialects and practical skills onboard. And then of course there's Nymeria, who famously commanded a fleet of 10,000. The wolves' names do seem suggestive of what the future holds for them, and I think you could read Nymeria to mean that Arya's future is tied up with travel.
(Of course, it could also be read the other way round - that Arya will travel for a long time before ultimately leaving travel behind because she's found home. But I think that's perhaps too literal a parallel, and when taken together with Arya's broader links to water and sailing, it seems more likely to me that the link here is just 'travel', 'adventure', 'new cultures' etc. Again, I don't think it's impossible to read it otherwise, I just personally don't.)
Her entire story revolves around wanting to go back home.
Completely agree! I think that's her arc within the story - to return home, to help restore peace there alongside her siblings and perhaps with the help of Dany and co, and then, with the security of knowing it's secure and always there to return to, maybe embrace travel on her own terms rather than basically as an exercise in hiding/fleeing. I don't know that Arya's desire to return home is synonymous with the notion that she's kind of done with adventure and exploring. Not saying that's what you're saying, but as I personally do think adventure and exploring are a big part of what enriches Arya's life, I feel like securing her home for herself and her people will give her the freedom to leave it again on her own terms.
Travelling is not even incompatible with a fixed role since Arya mentions traveling to White Harbor twice with Ned and we've seen that Robert travelled through the entire kingdom to ask Ned to be his hand.
Being LoW is not incompatible with travel, but I think it's certainly more limited to just the Northern region (diverse as it can be). Robert was able to travel more vastly but he was King of all 7K (and a big time delegator at that), whereas we get the impression that Ned spends 90% of his time in the North if not more. If Arya ever wanted to explore more of Essos, that's practically out of the question - unless she gets annual leave or something lol
Again, not being interested in being told what to do is not an argument in favour of Arya not wanting a position of power. Quite the opposite I would say. And about telling others what to do, she doesn't want to order people around but that habit does come naturally to her from time to time
I just don't really see any evidence that positions of authority are something that Arya would pursue. And like sure, if she inherited that position I don't think she'd chafe severely, but I do see liberation as very much her thing so Arya just inheriting something she didn't ask for doesn't really align with how I see her story.
You're right that she's nonetheless got those strong leadership qualities, but I don't see that strictly as foreshadowing for her role as LoW.
And on Arya not being interested in paperwork (where compared to Sansa) - of course I don't think Sansa is weirdly interested in the terms and conditions where compared to Arya. But Arya strongly tends towards practical hobbies and skills and getting out in the world amongst people, whereas Sansa's quite happy to sit learning sigils, words, family trees, etc etc - I don't think the admin of being LoW would grate on her as it might Arya.
I agree with this, what I disagree with is this idea that's pervasive in the fandom that the only position of power available is being the ruler of a kingdom. Sansa could be a councillor for Bran for example (it's what I personally expect for her and Arya). There're plenty of positions of power besides queen/warden.
True, but we can basically take it as a given that there will always be a Stark in Winterfell, and if it's not Bran (who I do think will be ruling the 7K from somewhere else), it's most likely to be one of the Stark girls. And I think being a warden of a region actually requires less expertise than that of a councillor (which I think would be quite a bit beyond both Stark sisters). It's expected that a child/teen could end up inheriting vast regions, which is why they tend to be surrounded by trusted councillors and advisors when that does come to pass. There would necessarily have to be learning on the job, but the key role is being a figurehead for the North and House Stark, and having a reliable team who hold the same values as you do - that's what Bran relies on in ACOK, and the North are proud of his efforts despite his being like. nine. It sure helps to be politically savvy and to have a great understanding of governance, but that comes with age and experience.
Councillors on the other hand... please don't hire children
You say this based on what? (re. Sansa leading vs delegating)
To be fair, not based on something strictly in the text but based on how we see Sansa function generally - we see her rally people around her during Stannis' attack on KL, Tyrion observes in ASOS that she has charm and is good with people, she's able to charismatically work Harry Hardyng in TWOW, etc etc. But she doesn't overestimate her own abilities - she's realistic about her blind spots - and I think wouldn't struggle to look to those with more expertise and experience (and I'm not saying Arya would).
I have to strongly disagree in this one, As far as I remember, Sansa has never shown one bit of interest in ruling.
Kind of fair? You're right that the most explicit interest she shows is as queen consort, but she's been exposed to political power play for many books now, and I think as LF's protégé is starting to learn what she's capable of - I'm inferring the direction her arc will take in TWOW based on the sample chapter and her general trajectory, but I think ultimately I just cannot see GRRM deciding that Sansa will be a queen consort in the end, just to a nicer man - like what's the point, then? I think her arc in the Vale exists to show Sansa how to wield power for herself and in doing so, to overthrown Petyr Baelish in his own game. Like the writing is so extremely on the wall there.
I don't disagree, but why are you not giving this room for Arya to mature? you seem to be judging Arya's chances of governing mostly by her 9 year-old self and Sansa's by the adult she could potentially become.
It's not that I don't see Arya as capable of maturing in the same role, just that I don't see the story placing her in it? So really what I've written here isn't 'here's why Sansa would suit the role and Arya wouldn't', but rather 'here's why I think Arya as a character would prefer X over Y, and here's why I think Sansa is more likely to be Y based on narrative trajectory'.
Sorry if I sound like an asshole, I just wanted to share why I disagreed with some of your statements.
pls don't worry you don't sound like an asshole. I was interested to read your thoughts, like if we can't enjoy good faith discussion of these books then why are any of us even here
If the kingdoms at the end go all independent. Who ends up king in the north? I assume Sansa is queen in the vale with Harold hardying but is bran really ok for king in the north? Will it go to Rickon?
talked about this a little before but basically I don't really see the seven kingdoms each becoming independent: I think whatever becomes of the Targaryen legacy, Aegon's ice & fire dream (or whatever it was called lol) was clear that there was strength in unity and I think that echoes throughout asoiaf generally.
I think it's likely Sansa will govern the North (I agree that her arc in preparing her for that role is incomplete, but at least she has that arc where compared to Rickon). Arya's a charismatic character and a strong leader besides, you could certainly say she'd be as good at governing as Sansa. but I just don't really feel like a governing role resonates in her story regardless, so that does leave Sansa (who I personally really doubt will just marry Harold Hardyng and settle down in the Vale for all of time)
and I fully buy into the Bran as a fisher king theory - I don't think he'll govern exactly but will become a figurehead of westeros, uniting the people and the land. doubt he'll be based in King's Landing as that's likely to be a pile of ash and in any case was always very much part of the political plot, divorced from the supernatural and the struggles of the rest of Westeros. you constantly get a sense of KL as a corrupted seat where the monarchs and their court are entirely removed from the smallfolk on their very doorstep, so I don't see it having a place in Bran's reign, whatever that ends up looking like

Top 25 Kpop Songs 2017-OMG It’s Here!
Here it is! The thing that a handful of people who aren’t me have seen... My annual list of the best Kpop songs!
My annual KPOP list has been a top 30 for the past 2 years. But this year I feel there is a drop off in quality after 25 songs. So here it is! Top 25 Best KPOP Songs of 2017 25 Fingertip by GFRIEND- GFRIEND is usually not to my taste but this song is so different from their usual style. It is like music from an '80s action movie. In the video I really wish that they had used their "Fingertip"s as guns instead of the plastic ones. 24 Ko Ko Bop by EXO- EXO did not impress me as much this year as they usually do. The dance breaks in this song were trying too hard to be cool. LOL. But, the parts where they sing actually are cool. And cool is the best word to describe this funky laid back track. The choreography was for the most part excellent, but at times I think the arm movements were too fast to make a proper impact. 23 Save Me by I'M- This is a slow song from a former member of Topp Dogg. I believe he is someone that deserves more attention. I love the layering of the vocals and the changes in melody. The heavy hearted mood created by the song is captivating. 22 Gashina by Sunmi- This song is like a journey. A fun journey with your friends. A journey where something fun is always happenning and the destination isn't really the point of the trip. I think that metaphor will stand as the only sort of review I give this song. 21 Like This by Pentagon- Pentagon had 6 comebacks this year. "Like This" was the strongest. It has a chorus that soars. A lot of songs this year were just simple and pleasant background music and "Like This" almost falls into this category too. But there is something uplifting about it. It isn't just background music it makes you feel something. I get a similar feeling when I hear rock songs like Don't Stop Believin', Journey and Beautiful Day, U2. 20 Reborn by Jay Park, BOI B, DOUBLE K- The year cannot be complete without hearing at least one thing from Jay Park with this kind of sound. It is Jay at his usual greatness, what else can I say? I understand it is an ad for a digestive medicine: Hwalmyeongsu. Such a shame that a good song will be associated with sickness. 19 Whisper by VIXX LR- VIXX LR has a different sound to it than VIXX or than Ravi's solo rap. VIXX LR is my favourite version of VIXX. This song is sensual and melodic. 18 Run The Streets by DEAN- I love DEAN's unique voice. He has a sincerity in his voice. He is not being over theatrical. The lyrics are really dramatic and he doesn't over do it to sound like he is bragging or like he is venting. He is just stating and it seems more sincere that way. He goes into a bit of a scat in the middle, which is brilliant. 17 Energetic by Wanna One- I haven't enjoyed anything as much as I enjoyed Produce 101 Season 2. This show had me falling in love with every contestant. They didn't even have to try to make good music after that, but they did! The human piano was inspired! and that "why~~~" near the beginning of the song just makes me melt. Then in the chorus they do that "got me feelin energetic" with the 'Macarana' type dance moves and I'm hyped! This song gives me a total range of emotions. 16 Kiss Me by WJSN- The cute girl concept usually doesn't appeal to me but this one is too catchy to ignore! It is not even really cute in the typical sense. It's just fun and fluffy. That must be why I enjoy it. It is also very consistent. There is no part that stands out as better or worse than another. It flows nicely and always sounds like it's over too soon. I could loop this for an hour. 15 Dance With Me by VAV- VAV has song writers from SM Entertainment and they put great riffs and runs in this song. Since this was a group that I hadn't heard much from VAV before it took me a while to realize how good this song actually was. It includes harmonies in the background which is something a lot of groups don't bother to do. It really enriches the sound. 14 All Night by Girls' Generation- This kind of sound has been missing from Girls' Generation for a couple of years, and I'm so glad to hear it again. More than that, however, I love the outside-the-box outfits. I feel like a lot of Kpop groups have been playing it safe and wearing clothes that are conventionally pretty. But we can count on SM entertainment have the balls to dress their artists in all kinds of deliciously tacky sparkles and feathers! 13 Cherry Bomb by NCT 127- NCT 127 has made a creative effort again this year. This time it landed a little better than last year's "Firetruck". Every verse and chorus and dance step gives me something I haven't quite seen or heard before. It falls short of off-putting and lands in engaging. 12 I Love You by Bobby- Bobby seems so natural and comfortable in this song. He has the natural YG swagger, even if his style of swagger is a little more youthful and vibrant than other YG artists'. The song has a little bit of the Carribean flavour that has been so popular in 2017, but not so much that you would call it tropical. 11 What's Good by Niel (feat. Justhis)- Niel is an amazing dancer. The choreography in the rap break is killer and Justhis' rap is brilliant. The chorus and the verses both move you to groove along.
WATCH THE TOP TEN!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3zB21l-mfQ 10 Sorry by The Rose- This singer takes the opposite approach from DEAN and I like it that way too. The singer puts so much emotion into every word that you can feel it even when you don't understand the language. I think that is something very special about music in a foreign language. It allows you to listen to peoples emotions without being distracted by their words. I don't usually fall for the rock genre but I will be looking out for The Rose in the future. 9 Don't Wanna Cry by Seventeen- This song is very sparse in terms of vocals. The dance is my favourite thing about it. I want to call this the choreography of the year. 8 Stranger's Love by Barberettes X Jang Jinyoung- These girls have buckets full of talent. I'm thrilled to be putting the Baberettes in my top 10 list this year. The tone of this song is so seductive. 7 Dirty House by Nam Taehyun (South Club)- I'm not a K-rocker, but I think this song is so cool. Play it while you are cleaning the house. Ever notice how the word house sounds a lot like the word hoes. Dirty hoes? I kind of like how the song crashes for a few seconds in the middle and then recovers. 6 Fruity by Hyolyn (feat. Kisum)- How can an ad for a fruity drink be such a good song? I hope these companies keep pumping money into KPOP if this is the result. 5 O Sole Mio by SF9- This song is framiliar sounding. The Spanish guitar rhythms are gorgeous and delicate. Can we talk about how they sing four languages in only one line O sole mio Italian, te quiero Spanish, neo nae taeyang Korean, O my Lady English. The innovative wardrobe caught me eye too. Their large shirts are like a modern take on the matador cape. So many details in this song. 4 On/Off by ONF- If you look up the word bop in the dictionary this song starts playing. Someone had to bring a happy, catchy boy band sound this year. We got it from the debut song of ONF! Well done new boys! 3 Sixteen by Samual (feat. Changmo)- The best post-Produce 101 song. This has early Justin Beiber feels to it. Or at least Justin wishes his video were this good. Samuel makes dancing look easy and natural. 2 Wake Me Up by BAP- This song is about a big and important issue, but read a translation of the lyrics and they are just ambiguous enough so that the song can be about any issue that the listenner wants it to be about. Even with the video there are still gaps left open for the viewer to fill in. It's really cool when the same art means something different to different people. 1 Goodbye by 2NE1- The perfect goodbye song. 2NE1 is a group that got a lot of people hooked on KPOP. The world would not have been the same without them. If they had to leave I am glad they left on such a beautiful note.

Maverick is so warmly pleased to see the photo of him and Iceman shaking hands, and even more pleased to see Iceman's official portrait on the wall opposite. Not even 20 minutes in and they have to take the time to reassure us that the love is still there between them, 39 years later, and also that the jealousy and competition is gone?? Agh
SPEAKING of people who are charmed by Maverick's whole deal, helloooooo Warlock. He's so kind this whole movie through, I love him
Also, he and Maverick Definitely Got Up To Some Shenanigans together at some point. Almost certainly served together. There's a story in those looks and I want to read it
Top Gun: Maverick's complete refusal to engage in geopolitics is so cowardly and so funny. It's an illegal uranium enrichment plant! Whose? Not relevant. Don't ask silly questions. Pay no attention to the cold war behind the curtain.
Another brilliant flash of competence porn: Maverick gets the bare bones of the objective and a little visual simulation and he IMMEDIATELY maps out the type of planes they'll need, the skills/experience their pilots will have to have, what they'll have to do, and the spots that will cause the most trouble. 30 years of experience in the air and a brilliant tactical mind to boot; he would have hated it, but he also probably wouldn't have been the worst guy to promote to the brass
also after he gets into his little tactical speech, the "see? I told you so," side-eye Warlock gives to Cyclone, and Cyclone's "....I guess." These two are living out some kind of buddy cop movie in the background of all of Maverick's bullshit
Maverick predicting "Someone's not coming back from this," before he knows Rooster will be involved, only to be confronted with Rooster's face on the screen? Gutting.
Also, Cyclone and Maverick's mutual disbelief and distaste at the idea of Maverick being a teacher? Lol. Lmao.
This movie pulls a beautiful bait-and-switch on the Rooster-Maverick dynamic. Oh, you think Rooster hates Maverick because he blames him for his dad's death? God that suck—PSYCH actually Maverick tried to sabotage his naval career.
alright. top gun maverick re-watch liveblog time
block 'liveblog' if you don't want it all over your dash for the next few hours <3
