I can't remember if I've asked this before, or if I just thought about it and thought it was too niche of a request and chickened out, so I'm so sorry if you've already been asked this / said no to it. But is there a possibility of a kind of "other / misc Nintendo" masterlist? Like, for maybe C- and D-list properties that don't have their own masterlists? I know for a fact my own fandom is wayyyyy too small to ever warrant a dedicated list lol but maybe if you stick all of us lonely and forgotten Nintendo properties together you'd have a decent list.

Or if that's too niche I suppose it could be broadened to a smash bros masterlist which might overlap with some of the others but it could help find people who specifically are open to smash bros related interactions

honestly it depends what you mean with "other Nintendo" :<c i was considering uniting the Nintendo masterlists tbh, or at least make one for. Anything that isn't Mario (and any other Mario-related game, like the Donkey Kong ones), but i'm not sure tbh nfasdmg

where reader's showing them the snowy cat weasel legendary pokemon that was sealed away(i forget names atm-), i can picture arven at least being concerned seeing the dex's entry for it as reader's just all "oh but it's a sweetheart! Don't be so worried!" as theyre giving the pokemon that no doubt would absolutely cause a devastating avalanche if the reader wasnt there scritches and pats/lh

After Ms. Raifort piqued your interest in the "Treasures of Ruin", you set out to free them from their confinements, knowing these poor things were taken advantage of centuries ago.

You believe they could still be helped. It wasn't too late! All they needed was love and friendship, things you were more than happy to provide.

Of course, pulling the stakes that sealed the Icerend Shrine and challenging Chien-Pao afterwards was no cakewalk, but you caught it after convincing it to come with you, promising to give it a better life.

The feline ice-type was surprisingly quick to warm up to you after you gave it a bath during a picnic, figuratively melting its icy heart. 

You took great care in shining its sword fangs, smiling when it purred in thanks before taking a nap in the grass, curled up.

It becomes harder to believe this sweet creature had a hand in destroying an entire kingdom.

Soon after, you decided to call your friends so they could see it for themselves.

As expected, Nemona was the first to arrive, psyched to see a Pokémon she's only heard about in books. 

She could immediately tell it was quite strong (despite it being cuddled up to you when she got there).

"..and you're gonna let me fight it one day, right?" She dares to ask, taken aback when Chien-Pao wakes up and looks at her in disdain.

You just laugh and shake your head, giving the Ruinous Pokémon chin scritches. "Unless you wanna be swept away by an avalanche..I don't think so. Besides, I think it's been through enough fights in its life."

Not long after her arrival, Penny and Arven show up, completely shook(tm) at the existence of this bizarre Pokémon.

Penny’s surprised it was just stuck in its own little cave all these years, while Arven’s curious about what the Pokedex says about it.

But when he finds out..well...to say he’s just “concerned” is a huge understatement.

He’s downright scared for you, having no clue how you tamed it and fearing the repercussions of freeing it.

“...[y/n], this thing is more than just a Pokémon..it’s...it’s got a bunch of souls in it--angry souls of people who hated that “king”. It also causes terrible avalanches and-”

“Oh give it a rest, Arven...does this look like the face of someone who’d cause terrible avalanches?” You pouted, holding either side of Chien-Pao’s face as you stared at him. “Do you see any hatred here? Because I don’t.”

When he has no answer, you resume patting its head, treating it like a big ol’ kitty that was simply misunderstood.

Even Penny becomes brave enough to pet its back, only to freeze when it sends an icy gaze at her. “Uh....sorry...?”

She thinks she did something wrong and is about to invoke the wrath of this ancient beast....

Until Chien-Pao purrs and nuzzles her cheek, invading her personal space just like Koraidon/Miraidon did all those times, causing you to chuckle and shake your head.

You could only hope to nurture the other three in the quartet into sweet and cuddly creatures like this one.

Cubone (Pokemon franchise)

Every single Cubone that exists has a dead mom and I think that's why they're more orphan than anyone else who could possibly be submitted

Cubone is iconic across the Pokémon franchise as being an orphan. It's mentioned that it wears the skull of its dead mother in almost every single one of its Pokédex entries. In Gen 1 games there is even a main plot point about going to Lavender Town's Pokémon Tower, where the ghost of a Cubone's mother haunts the top of the tower, and the player has to calm the ghost so she can move on. There's also an inherent tragedy in the fact that somehow, every single Cubone must lose its mother in order to be a Cubone. So many orphan Pokémon as a result…

Ciel Phantomhive (Black Butler)

ciel is a pathetic victorian child with a demon (that looks strangely like his dad btw) who sees him as nothing more than a big mac as well as losing his only motherly figure because of her toxic yuri relationship. he is the saddest little victorian orphan and i think that amount of bullshit that's happened in his life is what makes him viable to win this smackdown. he also has a gun! he would win if this was like a physical smackdown. not just because of his gun but because he is just a violent little shit. he also has his own toy company and the little funtom rabbits are so adorable. we love a tiny entrepreneur! literally the only thing that sucks is that he's british. he could change that.

The interesting thing about Ciel's being an orphan is that he is an orphan but he isn't Ciel. "Ciel" was his twin brother whose name the protagonist stole after he was brutally murdered by cultists and used as a sacrifice to summon the demon that would eventually become Ciel's butler, Sebastian Michaelis. "Ciel" was the older twin, making Ciel, the protagonist, the second born son of the noble family in Victorian England. Ciel was not heir to the Phantomhive Estate for this reason. His biggest childhood dream was to open a toy store in London. But, once the Phantomhive Estate was burned to the ground with the twins' parents inside, the two boys were kidnapped by a group of cultists who planned to defile their souls to sell them to the devil they were trying to summon. In the end, as stated above, "Ciel" was sacrified and it was Ciel who ended up making the demon deal, not the cultists, and with Sebastian's help, Ciel was able to become one of the most powerful nobles in England and take revenge on all those who wronged the Phantomhive name. Without Ciel's parents and twin brother dying and him effectively becoming an orphan (even under the care of his demon butler Sebastian and his regular butler Tanaka), he never might have accomplished the things he did throughout the series nor would he have the powers he comes to wield with Sebastian at his side. I mean, of course, not making a demon deal and having your soul eaten and living a dull life because of that is not a bad thing, but I think Ciel's claim to power is interesting.

Not only are his parents killed in a plot against his noble house, but Ciel himself is captured, enslaved and abused. He only manages to save himself by making a deal with a demon: complete power and servitude in exchange for his soul. So now he's on a revenge quest; fights crime at the behest of the monarchy; takes on aristocracy and grim reapers; joins the circus; all while having a will they/won't they power-play-flirt-fest with his hot demon butler that both loves him and wants to devour him.

I have been BRAINROTTING over an FMA/Pokemon crossover and I need to share it so!!!

this is gonna be a 'characters exist in the context of another universe' crossover, btw so prepare for that!!!! mostly gonna use Kanto-Alola, bc im not familiar really with Galar and Paldea (except for SNOM and Wooloo)

anyway!

regional starters don't reeeeeally matter in this version, if there's a lack of starters in one region, they'll get a starter from another region

any characters who are State Alchemists are now Gym Leaders! Roy is a fire-type, Armstrong is fighting-type, etc. Olivier is a member of the Elite Four because she's just That Good.

Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric grow up in Pallet Town, alongside Winry Rockbell, whose parents are doctors who sometimes help out Professor Oak with stuff.

Trisha Elric and Delia Ketchum are besties, so Ed and Al also grow up with Ash, who is ~2 years older (eg. when Ash goes to Hoenn, Ed is just starting his journey and drags Al along

when Ed and Al are about 4/5, Trisha gets sick when there's an outbreak of disease in the area. She died from this, but Ed and Al move in with the Rockbells (as Delia can't financially support three young children on a single salary).

Hohenheim, btw, is off doing something vaguely justice-y, maybe he's in deep cover in Team Rocket? Idk, but he's not in the picture. Ed and Al know that he's 'busy with work', but can't know what that is. He does his best to keep in contact, but Van Honhenheim is legally dead so there's that issue.

Father is Hohenheim's twin, and is all around a terrible guy. He leads a crime syndicate in one of the regions (don't ask where, maybe Kalos?) that is NOT the main evil team, and the Homunculi are his enforcers.

The homunculi all specialise in a different type (eg. Envy is a bug specialist, Pride is a ghost specialist, Sloth is a fighting specialist, etc). They're annoying as fuck to deal with, and fight by their own rules. If you're in a battle with them, you are aiming to kill, because they won't hesitate to kill you if you lose.

anyway, Winry's parents are killed during an attack by Team Rocket while they were travelling, but are fairly well-known by the Gym Leaders and Elite Four of various regions for,,,,reasons (I.e. they helped out one of the Champions in a tight spot and earned the respect of most).

Just before they get killed, however, Ash leaves on his journey. Ed does NOT particularly like Pikachu, and it's...a situation. But Ed can't WAIT to go on his journey!!!

then, of course, they're vibing and just living life when something comes round to kick their asses.

listen, these two kids are at least vaguely related to Professor Elric (aka Hohenheim, he helped out Professor Oak until he found Stuff and went into deep cover to keep the family safe) so surely they know something about his research, right? right???

they, uh, they don't. But the attack happens one night when they're in their dad's study reading about something. a lone member of team rocket is sent to 'retrieve them', and ends up fucking up so much that goddamn ARCEUS gets involved

basically, Ed and Al were just vibing when this fucker, instead of doing the sensible thing and knocking them out and then just nabbing them, decides to bring out a fuckin scyther who...can't grab stuff. shit happens, Ed loses a leg in the initial scuffle but when he's trying to get to Al, loses his arm, and Al...comes off better, but not much. He's lose a few fingers (ring and pinky on his right hand) and a chunk of his shoulder, and also got his larynx badly damaged, but he's...not in immediate danger.

A few weeks pass, and a Gym Leader named Roy comes around to investigate as a favour to one of the Officers Jenny. He's there with his best friend/sort-of girlfriend (Ed doesn't really know, it's definitely something), and he's awkward and angry.

Roy keeps it quiet, it's all under wraps, but when he was younger, before he became a Gym Leader, he was a member of Team Rocket. He...thought they were good, but he was wrong. He left soon after that and dragged his childhood friend, Riza, out with him. Since then, he's become the Elite Four and International Police's investigator and attack dog, while training to inherit the Cinnabar Island Gym.

but, slowly, they settle into each other much like how dust settles into the cracks and crevices of a house long loved

during a joint practice match with karasuno narita praises goshiki and goshiki starts tearing up

karasuno first-year crew is genuinely so blessed to have the upperclassmen they do. like guys come on think about it they are SO spoiled with it like holy hell i feel terrible for the other miyagi first years

someone starts the rumor that tendou is an esper and he does absolutely nothing to deny this, but he DOES do everything to confirm it. one of his classmates will be like "haha yeah i lost my textbook i guess i'll have to get a new one" and tendou will be like "ooh you should try looking inside the music room piano after five pm ;)" and the classmate is like "wtf" bc they've never been to the music room in their life but they go do it anyways and it's THERE

(tendou may or may not have paid goshiki to swipe the textbook and plant it)

also i think kawanishi is def one of those ppl who has earbuds tucked in at all times bc a) he thinks it makes him look cool and b) it keeps people from talking to him

and if they do try talking to him he just whips out his phone and makes a big show of blasting the volume to the point where the other person can hear it coming from his earbuds

also you know how tendou told semi that he looks uncool in casual clothes??? that's definitely a cover-up for tendou thinking semi looks really good in them

hm. idk how much you know or want to know bc i dont want to end up spoiling the plot of the best piece of media ever created by human hands containing the absolute flawless amazing showstopping pinnacle of storytelling Natural "N" Harmonia Gropius. but also its an 11 year old game and i spoil it constantly anyway so lmao

bw itself in general? imo the Peak of pokemon all bias aside. the animated 2d sprites, the environments (going over the skyarrow bridge for the first time WOOOO), the music, the pokemon designs themselves, it still had mythical pokemon events like Victini's, pokemon musicals, Pokestar Studios in bw2, auugahhhh chewing on bw/bw2 like its a multivitamin gummy

the music is probably one of the best things about it! routes have slight variation depending on the season (bw has seasons btw its very pretty) which is super neat. village bridge is one of my favorite pokemon songs, it'll activate more instruments as you explore the bridge and talk to people with instruments and things. also Driftveil City. just driftveil its iconic

and now here's an entire no holds barred rant on Him

n. where do i start with him. i will be spoiling literally everything about him btw i just love explaining him

abandoned in a forest at like 5ish years old, he learned to talk with pokemon because he lived with them. ghetsis ends up finding him, claims he's his father, and whisks little n away to plasma castle and everything goes speeding downhill on a sled going over ice.

n's naturally Too Nice, so ghetsis is able to convince him that every human is pokemon-abusing scum by only letting n see pokemon that have been mistreated and isolating him from people other than ghetsis himself and n's foster sisters, anthea and concordia. he makes n think only he can change the world by joining with one of the twin dragons, becoming champion to prove his strength to the region, and from there he can force all people to separate from pokemon.

presumably the first time n's been let out of plasma castle is at 20 years old when bw takes place which on its own is just. insanely horrific. he's genuinely surprised that all the people he meets over the course of the game treat their pokemon well and their pokemon love them in return. unfortunately for n he is STUBBORN. up until the bitter end he keeps holding onto the belief that humans and pokemon should be separated despite all the evidence contrary to that because thats all he's known all his life. was he supposed to just throw away all he's been working towards for 15 years? drives me insane how deeply entrenched n was in his mindset that even when he had suspicions, he couldn't let himself waver from the path he chose. he literally runs away and disappears for TWO YEARS after you defeat him because he's so lost.

yknow how kieran tries to be the hero of ogerpon's story and gets furious when sv protag takes that away from him? thats kinda how n is, he thinks he's supposed to be the hero of unova but after clashing with you he realizes he is Not. "Is the world going to choose you, and not me?!" <- line that has driven me nuts for over a decade. n is literally designed like a classic mainline game protag: compatitively simple casual outfit (with the bright green hair to set him apart though), does the gym challenge and becomes champion, catches a box legendary, is fighting against a threat in order to save the region. the only difference being that threat was a lie, n was being used so ghetsis could take over the region.

speaking of ghetsis's atrocities. there's his infamous "freak without a human heart" line. there's the fact his final team is designed to counter and sweep n's final team, either he was planning for n to end up betraying him or just outright disposing of n no matter what he did once he outlived his usefulness. there's the fact he probably didn't even take much care of n and dumped the responsibility on anthea and concordia who probably aren't much older than n. there's the fact that in usum's rainbow rocket storyline, that timeline's ghetsis has one of the twin dragons, which i've seen interpretations of being that he's trapped n and taken the dragon or straight up Killed n because the dragon is supposed to choose its partner. fucked up stuff!

and throughout it all n still has some attachment to ghetsis! "It's hard to call you this, but… Father! Please understand."

ghetsis may have done All That but he's still almost all n had for so many years. n is also again, Too Nice, he still wants to see the best in ghetsis. pokemon masters had a storyline where ghetsis seems to be trying to make up and n makes the choice to trust him. ghetsis betrays them all of course but the fact n still chose to believe in him again is so. augh

enough about The Tragedy of N Harmonia though, he does turn his life around and seems so much happier in bw2. compare his first game encounter theme to his second. the first is creepy, stops jarringly, is literally named Prisoner to a Formula. his second reminds me of carnival music and i love it so so so much. also, i've had weird issues in the past where putting images under a readmore screws up the entire post's formatting and i dont want to retype THIS ENTIRE RANT but. in bw2 his battle sprite has a bigger smile than in bw1. he regained his whimsy :)

misc thing. he canonically talks so fast some people can't understand him. this is reflected in the game by his text printing faster than everyone else's, and if you set your text speed to Fast he talks at a unique EVEN FASTER speed which i think is really funny. they just Really wanted him to talk super fast they even bothered to make him his own text speed

i saw someone post some clips from the games and it’s literally just “leon kennedy autism compilation” and considering i finished my first re2 leon run yesterday, you already know i have to contribute

BTW THIS IS ALL JUST MY OPNION feel free to correct me or share your own headcanons in my chat box or in the comments :3 

i don’t think he would get an official diagnosis? just doesn’t have the time to think about it or doesn’t really consider anything that he does is weird, no one points it out either because they’re like “that’s just leon! XD”

in more fun news, i don’t really think he stims, at least not super noticeably this is kind of a lie actually idk

like he stims but he doesn’t even realize that he’s doing it but for reasons that he can’t begin to understand, he has a spot in one of the cabinets of his desk where he just keeps stress balls or things like that

the specific scenario where he just feels too crowded somewhere or he can hear the sounds of the fluorescent lights and it agitates him to no end

if he has any vocal stims, he snaps his fingers (does that count??) or clicks his tongue but its not repetitive either

projecting here but i think he likes to blast music really loudly in his car or in earbuds depending on where he is

he’s so cute, in his car, he blasts rock music and stuff and drums his fingers against the steering wheel before he starts driving, he gets super into it

at the station, when he has to write up his reports, he’ll blast music on his earphones loud enough that he doesn’t hear anyone or any background noise

it’s to a point that people have to tap him on the shoulder to get his attention

he’s a pencil twirler, when he’s anxious, really focused, or even just talking to people, he does it almost on instinct

he also bounces his leg a lot, all the time and if he’s not doing that, he reverts to the pencil lol

but when he gets into that routine of bouncing his leg, twirling his pencil, and listening to music, people will ask what he’s doing and some other officer will joke that “he’s in the zone”

he is pretty much phenomenal at masking on good days but on days where he gets overwhelmed or too frustrated, he works out until he drops from how tired he is

of course he has a special interest, it’s something like pokemon and/or star wars

he like video games A LOT, he has entire collections under his tv set or his bed and they’re mostly fighter games; mortal kombat, street fighter, etc (looks at my shelf full of k-pop albums and sighs in defeat)

when he’s not home, only someone who REALLY knows him would see the look in his eyes of him getting excited when he hears someone talking about his special interests or sees something in a store that catches his attention

at home, he completely lets loose, takes whole weekends to just indulge and if he’s with someone, he can spend hours talking about the stuff he likes but he’ll give the occasional “sorry, i kind of geeked out? ^^;”

like he physically lights up but he’ll get all flustered unless someone tells him that he’s alright (WHICH YOU WILL SAY YES TO. LET HIM RAMBLE.)

he hates crowds, he isn’t an introvert or anything and doesn’t actively avoid crowds but if he gets caught in one, he is just in the WORST mood and he needs to go home and recharge

he does go nonverbal sometimes but not a lot of people pick up on it just cus it’s just normal for people on the force to have off days and maybe he doesn’t want to talk about what’s wrong so they just let him be until he reaches out

me and my one of my best friends (welcome to another post where you featured damien) were talking and established that his skin is strangely flawless so at the end of a long day (when he’s alone) he puts on a face mask and just enjoys how cool it feels on his face

some people ask him if he has a skincare routine and he’s just like “no? why do you ask? :D” but he just doesn’t realize that he has one until he counts just how much stuff he puts on his face

he loves touch!! but only from people he really trusts so strangers he can shake hands with and stuff, friends is a lot more than that but s/o’s is who he’s closest with

he likes to feel them laying on him and the pressure and just :333 likes to feel as close as possible and will squeeze you

not autism related news but things about his health that my friend and i made up but that we think is funny is that he’s lactose intolerant and allergic to cat fur but he’s too kind to say anything

the rare chance that he has to rescue a cat, he gives the cat back but is sneezing like crazy

and if someone offers him food he can’t eat or he’ll die, he just runs to take lactaid really fast and comes back like nothing happened so he always has allergy and lactaid on him no matter what

Literally no one asked but THREAT DISPLAY!!! theoretical Pokémon teams. Btw. These would be the teams they are provided with, rather than any pokemon they actually chose themselves, yknow? First is Helvia:

It's aesthetically conscise and VERY aggressive. I wanted to focus on sound based moves and heavy hitting moves with a lot of recoil. Additionally, I wanted to pick abilities that powered them up when they were hurting like guts and toxic boost! For the zangoose specifically too, I think it would be a "ghetsis' maxed out frustration hydriegon" situation.

Obviously, went for the continued "matched set" theme for these two. Vanessa has a team with at least some aggressive potential, but aegis is stuck pretty much entirely with support. I wanted them to have mostly support, with the idea that individually they have nothing going for them, and only function so much as they could theoretically support Helvia in a double/triple battle. I tried to not just put prankster on every Pokémon but it's literally perfect for this. These guys would be so wiped in single battles. I unfortunately don't know enough about terrains to play with how they'd work, but it'd be something else they could possibly do?

Its possibly the silliest team I could think of that felt fitting. The "no attacking moves porygon Z" is a particular point of pride to me, something theoretically powerful but is just... absolutely useless. Porygon Z and Psyduck play into the corrupted data/missing memories thing, and is why I put amnesia on multiple guys. The trubbish just felt fitting for this garbage girl. The aesthetic of the move names were admittedly more important to me than the effects of the actual moves this time around.

In this post, I'm gonna dive deeper into smaller details shown in Teal Mask- btw, still slated for Fall 23.

So, I'm gonna discard my previous theory that Kitakami is in Japan- mainly because we have Oricorio and Skwovet in the wild. Even Hisui didn't have wild post Sinnoh pokemon unless they were native or related like the genies. It probably does take place to the north east of Paldea.

There is something else peculiar.

That's a statue of Hisuian Growlith. What's most likely going on is that the area is based on an area north of Real Life Spain where real life Japanese people settled. That or it turns out my Kitakami=Real Life Kitakami theory is real and Hisui people relocated a little south lol. But I doubt that tbh.

Although it is interesting that most of the highlights on old Pokémon were Japan region natives such as Vulpix, Hoothoot, Sentret, Snorlax, and Poochyena.

Now for some details on the new Pokémon from Kitakami

First off, a better look at Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti in game, including masks based on them. They're apparently called the Loyal Trio- read up on the Tale of Momotaro and you'll get why.

Something else to note is that they have a shared ability called Toxic Chain- think Poison Touch but it badly poisons instead. That's kinda curious to me- I still think something is up and they are actually bad.

And of course an in game look at Ogerpon. Nice details on the mask. I still think he's just a little guy.

One more thing, because I hit the pic limit: the town we're operating from is called Mossui Town, that also came from the website. It's small and has its own Kitakami tourist bureau.

Context I was thinking about my like version of the Pokemon world so obviously the one inhabited by my ocs but was also considering the crossover au of the Rosy Maple Moth squad and how in my friend Cinnatwos lore their mew Maple is the mother of Mewtwo and Newtwos as their offspring were stolen. But Moths lore he canonically had a run in with a mewtwo that tried to kill him and I don't think that makes sense for it to have been one of Maples kids especially as he would've sensed similar aura but is completely unaware of her lore

SO to get around this and also desperately try to be unique for my pokemon world I tried to come up with new lore for my version of the og mewtwo, if other blogs get to have the og then so do I XD so in moth squad au there's like 2 separate version of the og, too powerful lmao

My version of mewtwo is similar to xxtcs who was originally a mew first, but unlike Scarfy he had lived most of his life as an adult full grown mew before his capture, the initial string shot did not register as malicious and the speed drop left him incredibly overwhelmed when he was grabbed by more shots of webbing before being hit by a powerful dark pulse, he basically got like 10 speed reduced status effects in one instant mobility severely limited then smacked in the back before his head was yanked back with yet another string shot to receive a nose breaking Shadow Ball.

The metal electric cage thing was inspired mostly by Phlurri (do check out all these brilliant artists BTW I haven't @ them as it feels inappropriate but like go look), but also by the canon ones used in multiple movies like on the legendary birds, the electric fidget spinner thing in the Celebi movie, the zappy shock machines in the second mewtwo movie and those used on newt, the electric netting in the Latios Latias movie, the metal box cage in Zoroark...im seeing a pattern here... Pokemon really likes their bad guy with electrical restraint devices

Anyways these guys clearly knew what they were doing and mew was overwhelmed and severely injured.

My thinking is as its never said what Amber died from/how she died (and like, I checked! I was on her wiki page this morning I couldn't see anything), I've decided Amber had some kind of genetic disease/issue which killed her likely very quickly just she's suddenly really unwell and then she's gone and they couldn't have predicted this. Now you'd think then cloning a new Amber who'd have the exact same genetic structure and would have the same disease and die the same way would be cruel but Dr Fugi had what he considered a big brain moment. Mew is the genetic pokemon, humans and Pokemon were at some point the same, so he wants to splice Mews perfect dna into Amber's to fix and replace the damages to her dna structure to clone a better healthier Amber and maybe even add more benefits like better immune system expression of human Psychic powers ect which that's leaning into very heavy genetic tampering of your own daughter there Fugi. Of course Ambertwos dna genetics rejects the mew sequencing because that's Pokemon dna you absolutely tool. So Dr Fugi goes "the dna is too different, I need to make it easier for Amber's genetic sequencing to accept it," which sir, just get therapy it's probably cheaper. And so he splices HIS dna into the mew because adding Amber's damaged dna into the mew would be counter intuitive but as her dad she has half his dna so by using his which is healthier (tho still a carrier of this genetic disease I imagine), Amber's body should be less likely to reject it. If you're an actual genetic scientist please don't come for me I know this is probably vastly incorrect. So mew gets forcefully spliced with human genetics, resulting in becoming mewtwo.

At some point they likely give the now mewtwo LOTS of drugs both painkillers because of the genetic splicing rejection, forceful immune system suppressant and subsequently merging of dna and altering of his physical form as the new dna is incorporated is hella ouch and also they try to amnesia him when he tries to fight, won't want to escape if no memories of freedom. So Dr Fugi kind of because Mewtwo human genetic father. Also while Ambertwo rejected mew dna, mew probably is unable to reject Fugis dna because of a mix of drugs and probably a lot more aggressive implantation of dna they would've added significantly more of Dr Fugis coding into Mews body to force acceptance but would've been more delicate with Ambertwo naturally.

The new mewtwo dna is then taken and put in Ambertwo and it stabilises her for a while allowing her Psychic access to Mewtwo. I think Ambertwo holds some awareness of things and sees the scared small traumatised confused mewtwo struggling to grasp at fading memories and knows what has happened was wrong, so very wrong. And like in the movie she still dies, I think to some degree she willingly kind of goes "I don't want my life to be made this way," and let's herself slip peacefully back to sleep once more leaving Mewtwo alone.

And then like usual plot lore he starts growing bigger due to human dna, wakes up, kills people, gets manipulated by Giovanni, commits crimes and murder, questions Giovanni and bails when he realises he was lied to and used and goes fuck it I'm taking ALL you bitches out. A very grumpy man

He's probably a lot more cynical than others due to his vague memories of being a mew knowing his life was stolen because of one selfish human and he hates the mew he encounters in the movie as they're like a mockery of himself giggling blissfully at his agony a reflection of look what you were look what you've lost.

He's a lot more hateful of other twos as well he thinks generally they shouldnt exist ever, he has a lot of projected hate, he believes the others genetic freaks and abominations because they're made as twos off the bat, he's different he tells himself he's better than them because he was a natural creature first. But really he hates himself the most because of what he lost and envies the kind of innocence the others have of not having lost a life. He's just going through a lot don't worry he'll get put in therapy

But yea this is the weird short comic thing of my boy and introduction to him and if I never draw him then oops.

only just now found out that pokemon FINALLY released soundtracks for sword/shield (+dlc), legends arceus, and scarlet violet (+dlc) on pokemon day. idk why i didn't hear about it when they announced it back in december but that's really cool

i ended up making my own album art to use with the gamerips (since i didn't think the fanmade ones i'd seen looked authentic enough). i didn't do the sword and shield one until recently (there was no clear image of the background so i had to improvise a bit) and maybe i wouldn't have done it at all if i'd known there was an official one already

(these are the ones i made btw. i should probably add that for clarity because they do look pretty official i think. the new soundtracks are japan-only so there's only japanese album art)

i guess it's the least necessary of these. in terms of credits, shota kageyama and junichi masuda did the music, and with more than one person credited it would be nice to have confirmation of what masuda did--but it's probably not a lot since he's had a limited role with music since gen 4 or so (the people who do the pokemon sound sources spreadsheet seem to think he only did "new cutscene theme" and "unused ambient theme" whatever those are). the other 3 had a lot more people working on the music

the other thing that makes official soundtracks cool is when they do bonus tracks, and none of the 3 new ones have any, so bdsp doesn't lose out on that either (for better or worse)

and of course usm still doesn't have its new tracks released on a soundtrack. emerald and platinum only got theirs because bw2 had enough new tracks to warrant a soundtrack but enough space to devote the final disk to those two, so it ended up being kind of a third version compilation soundtrack in a way, but since they don't do third versions anymore i think usm's best hope at this point is being tacked on to an alola remake's ost or something (all of the remakes so far have included the original games' soundtracks on their osts)

guys im unlocking so many trading card related memories. i remember watching a video some guy made abt how to make undertale cards and they left a link of all the assets u could print out and i went wild with it. i mustve printed out like half of the characters. even duplicates because i would put them in boosters made out of tinfoil or whatever and open them myself or give them to my family. i do not know what happened to all of them also i remember one of our relatives getting us minecraft cards sometimes. like DEFINITELY unofficial ones. looks like mojang got themselves an official series now tho (made by panini! love these guys) but they were NOT that. i cant exactly describe them but their layout was similiar to pokemon cards i think. but they definitely werent made in these pokemon tcg generators or whatever. i FUCKING WISH i still had them i also used to collect fifa cards for a brief amount of time. i got bored of them because they were humans and not cool creatures. yes, of course they were the panini ones. anyways one time i took them to school and during recess some random kid wanted to trade for one of my cool shiny golden cards. his offer was a card of some guy called mario. and i thought like hey! thats like the video game guy! thats hilarious! so we traded. still not sure if i was scammed or not i also dabbled in making my own tcgs like four times now, i made 2 in elementary school and 2 in middle school. first one was just assorted creatures (mostly fusions of existing animals) and the rest were exclusively about dragons. i still have the little “album” of the cards i made for the first one somewhere in my closet. dunno what i would do with myself if i lost it. anyways yeah i was like 6 or 7 so they were shit. i didnt know what measuring or a ruler was back then so theyre all different sizes. but its okay because i love them the first dragons were a bit better but OHHH MY GOD the element system i made for them was shit. i tried to put it as many as possible. the dumbest ones i can remember r “love” and “magma”. the MAGMA element literally only had the MAGMA dragon in it BECAUSE I COULDNT FUCKING THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE alright so the second attempt at dragons. originally i started it in traditional but then i was like hey why not draw them in firealpaca it would be COOL. one small issue. WHY NOT GIVE THEM TO SOMEONE..... so i printed them out. stuck the pictures to some cardboard. put them in little paper booster boxes that i specifically referenced off the detective pikachu boosters (i still have one of them in my drawer) and bought a WHOLE BINDER for her to put them in..... and gave them to her as a birthday gift..... it mustve been like the lamest fucking fit ever god golly attempt three. i actually had them all saved on my old computer but sadly i didnt move the folder to this one so most of them are lost..... but yeah they were digital. i actually think theyre still sick as fuck. i need to get back on that tcg grind someday

Nimbasa had changed. Not by much. But noticeably. Looks like the south gate was turned into an outlet mall. Elesea’s Gym had been remodeled, for sure. The stadium had banners up for a team he didn’t recognize and an event that was unfamiliar.

Or maybe that part of his memory hadn’t returned just yet. He was doubtful, but he wasn’t leaving it out as an option.

Ingo froze at the sight of a commotion at the station he and his brother worked at. People stood outside, and at the front of the crowd as Nimbasa City's own gym leader, Elesea, standing at the door and blocking people from getting in. He approached, ducking and weaving between people until he reached the front, "Elesea, what's-"

"Sir, it's not safe to go inside, I ins-" Elesea squinted, "Ingo?" She shook her head, "Wh-where have you been?! You realize how devastated Emmet was when you just- just vanished?!"

"Elesea, what is going on? I promise, I'll explain later, why isn't the station safe? Emmet's all about safety-"

"There's a bouffalant loose." She said, "We think it's wild, Emmet's trying to handle it and the police are on their way." She explained.

"Emmet's in there?" he started to go inside.

"No- Ingo, you shouldn't-"

"Why not? I'm his brother, of course I'm going." He pushed past her and pushed open the doors. As he passed through the empty lobby and waiting area, he heard a commotion downstairs around the platforms. He picked up the pace, hearing bellowing and his brother shouting obscenities and commands to… from the sounds of it, Slag, his excadrill.

"Slag, use-!"

Emmet's command had been cut off and was now following silence. Ingo began skipping three steps at a time until he reached the bottom, the bouffalant shook its head and bucked around before turning its attention to a now shocked and terrified Slag, glancing back and forth between the bouffalant and his now-unconscious trainer.

"Slag, iron defense, then brick break!" Ingo barked.

Slag blinked, then swung his claws, his body glassing over momentarily, then he readied an attack, dashing forward and punching the bouffalant.

The bouffalant braced for the attack and turned his head, flinging Slag off to the side, turning to look at Ingo.

Ingo saw the brief confusion in the pokemon's eyes as it glanced back over at Emmet. He started moving between the bouffalant and Emmet, “Slag, don’t worry about me, just make sure Emmet’s okay.” he said.

Where was the other pokemon? Emmet always used two at a time.

Overpass laid on the floor next to the center column, with how bright his feathers were, Ingo was surprised that he missed him before. Lantern, his eelektross was struggling to stand up, and beside him was Cargo, the crustle, also knocked out.

Ingo exhaled slowly. All of Emmet’s pokemon were either out of commission or busy and Ingo didn’t have any of his own pokemon- the pokemon he had in Hisui… stayed in Hisui to further help the Pearl Clan.

The bouffalant kicked up dirt as it prepared to charge at him. His heart began pounding in his throat. He blinked, then stood closer to the wall, away from any doors, platforms, trains… just stood in front of the wall. “Come on!” he goaded the enraged pokemon.

Slag watched Ingo with disbelief. When the bouffalant charged at Ingo, Slag turned around and started shaking Emmet’s arm, frantic to wake him up and talk his brother out of being so reckless. He turned around when the bouffalant bellowed, only a few feet away from Ingo.

At the last moment, Ingo jumped and rolled out of the way, the bouffalant crashing full-force into the wall.

Emment groaned and winced, taking a deep, painful breath and bringing a shaking hand up to his head. Slag let out a sigh, then kept poking Emmet and grunted frantically.

“What…?” Emmet shakily forced himself into a sitting position, his head spinning enough to make him want to throw up.

Slag huffed and started tugging on his coat, pointing at the twin that was now talking to the police as they contained the incapacitated bouffalant.

Emmet finally opened his eyes and squinted at the man in a shredded version of his brother’s coat. His stomach flopped, bringing on another wave of nausea as he closed his eyes to keep the room from spinning, “That… is…” he exhaled, reaching for his belt and clicking the button on each pokeball of the pokemon that had been downed, except for Slag, who was persistent in… wait- was that Ingo?

Slag rushed back to Ingo and tugged on his pant leg, pointing back at Emmet.

Ingo looked down at the excadrill, then up at Emmet.

“Ingo, where on earth have you been?” one officer asked, “We had our best on your case, looking for you, even our trackers couldn’t find you. Emmet was ready to shut down the station and do research on wormholes in Alola in order to find you.” he said.

Ingo took a deep breath, “It’s… a long story.” he had looked back at the officers, “I’d really rather not discuss it until I’ve had some sleep and… some time to talk to my brother.” he said.

The officer looked behind him at Emmet, “Does he need a hospital?”

Ingo turned around and looked back at his brother, “Let me go find out. I’ll take care of him. Thank you for your time, officers.” he bowed his head before trotting over to Emmet. When he reached him, he dropped to his knees and pulled him in for a tight hug, shaking,

Emmet froze, having caught a glimpse of his brother before he’d wrapped his arms around him. His eyes watered as he returned the hug.

“You’re home…” Emmet’s voice broke.

...you have opened my eyes to a vast universe of VintageBeef lore that I was unaware of. I knew about the New Hermit Order, of course, and the UHC invention, and I've watched a few of his CTM things but -- I will take all the info and lore you feel like giving out because Beef is amazing and my knowledge is so small.

So the thing is, right, until about 2016 I only watched two (2) youtubers- Vintagebeef for Minecraft and aDrive for Pokemon (and funnily enough both of them are named Dan irl). So I've watched most of Beef's videos over the years and have a general knowledge of most of his stuff, except because it's been like a decade I don't remember where most of the lore comes from XD

The thing with him is that he doesn't do Lore tm the way other mcyters often do lore- he doesn't have an extensive RP series to draw from like Grian, doesn't have a solo world with steadily increasing amounts of lore like Etho or Zisteau, and while he's played on SMPs and been involved in storylines before it's not really the focus of his episodes unlike with Evo or Legacy or Empires

So where does that leave us?

IRL, Beef always has multiple series running at the same time. Often he's playing on an smp while doing a singleplayer, often modded, series as well as a CTM or modpack with a group of friends. For example, right now he's playing on Hermitcraft, doing weekly Pixelmon and Building a Zoo episodes, and a CTM map with Slip. And to me, this translates to one thing: Beef is an adventurer. He travels frequently- he explores a world and when he decides he's done, he leaves for the next one. That's the basis of my personal interpretation of his series and his character for my writing.

Ok so reading this back, this got extremely long and didn't explain much in the way of lore, somehow? If anyone has any additions to add please do so, I am very definitely leaving out a lot and would love to see what other lore people remember and are using for Beef! I didn’t include the Hermitcraft stuff since my memory of season 4 is blurry (his base was themed after the Martian, that much I know, and he and Iskall were buddies :D) and most of the s5 NHO lore is best watched from Bdub’s perspective from what I remember, and the only s6 stuff is a single line in Hermitgang and then the Area 77 arc with its possibility of an NHO reunion which we did not get rip. And s7 of course had the cloning machine and also the Podzol Party as the main lore. So all the original rambling is still below the cut though it is very long, and I'm gonna bullet point the main stuff here instead:

Actual canonical things:

Invented UHC and was the only survivor of the first ever uhc (Mindcrack UHC s1)

Married to an ender dragon (one of the UHCs I think), later father to a different dragon (Mindcrack season 3? I think?)

Might not have legs if you choose to take that joke as canon (Mindcrack s2)

Was the creator/owner of Sourceblock SMP (featuring some familiar faces if you know Legacy, Empires, or MCC) and there is literal magic from a mysterious sourceblock of water that teleports people and summons mobs and probably more stuff that I haven't seen yet since I'm still watching it myself

Things you can infer:

Good with animals (Life in the Woods, Pixelmon, Ark)

Is a car nerd (irl and all of the car games he's played)

Is a highly experienced adventurer who has traveled through dozens of worlds both vanilla and modded, across multiple dimensions (Twilight Forest, the Aether, the Betweenlands, Limbo), completed dozens of monuments, fought in blood sports, survived apocalypse after apocalypse, tamed dinosaurs, and played a lot of prop hunt and golf with your friends

If you're looking for what to watch for lore purposes, I'd say the Mindcrack UHCs and Team Canada's RAD series are pretty good, definitely Sourceblock and HC s5, plus the Diversity CTM maps and Ruins of the Mindcrackers maybe? And Mindcrack Prank Wars for the chaos and the origin of Team Canada. And if you can handle horror than the Forest is fun and if you don't do horror you can watch the Pojkband play golf or prop hunt they're hilarious I love them sm I want a Pojkband reunion So Bad 

Beef's first series was a singleplayer series in beta 1.4_01 though he had played the game extensively before that, and was a big fan of Guude, having watched his own Minecraft videos. The series was functionally a hardcore one where if he died Beef would delete the world and start again! I haven't actually Watched this series so idk if he died or how often lmao. When Guude made Mindcrack, which was btw one of the very first Minecraft SMPs, he also hosted a competition for people to join, and Beef submitted a video (which is still viewable on his channel I believe!) and won, and was added to Mindcrack in season 2 :D (fun fact, Guude said that even if Beef hadn’t won he would have added him anyway) 

Two running jokes emerged from Mindcrack- pulling a Vintagebeef and Beef doesn't have legs. The first is a reference to Beef dying of fall damage (I believe the exact instance was him trying to jump into his swimming pool and failing spectacularly) and after the incident, every time someone died of fall damage they were pulling a Vintagebeef. The second joke comes from Guude, who joked that the reason Beef wasn't going to a convention was because he didn't have legs, and then he pranked Beef's base by building a giant pair of legs at the entrance to his castle so you had to walk between them to get into the base. This joke has long since died and both Beef and Guude feel pretty bad about it iirc because there were people who genuinely thought Beef was disabled and were emailing him supportive messages and stuff oops. So if you go looking on the Salad or find old Mindcrack fics, you might see references to Beef having prosthetic legs!

Mindcrack also brought about the creation of several Player groups- Team Nancy Drew, Team Canada, and GOB to name a few relevant to Beef. Team Nancy Drew consists of Beef, Pauseunpause, Guude, and Baj, who formed to investigate a prank on one of the members but I forget who. They're named Nancy Drew after the detective! Team Canada also formed in retaliation to pranks, with it consisting of Beef, Etho, and Pause, the three Canadian members on the server (not including Adlington who moved to Canada but never joined the group). There was also a Team America who pranked them with American flags everywhere. GOB is Guude, OMGChad, and Beef, who played stuff like the Ragecraft, Pantheon, and Monstrosity ctms together but that's way down the line lol

Team Nancy Drew is also notable for inventing UHC. It was Beef's brainchild but it was the four of them who first played it! The first UHC had the four of them working to kill the dragon with no natural regen, with everyone dying but Beef, who "won" the UHC. The second uhc was still dragon focused and iirc is where Beef married the dragon? Memories are hazy but they do kill the dragon in this one I think. UHC was then revamped as a pvp event and became a regular Mindcrack game every few months, featuring most of the Mindcrackers and several special guests, including Dinnerbone, who as we know Thanos-snapped Doc's arm out of existence as a result of Doc killing him in one of them

In one of the seasons of Mindcrack, Beef invited swedish Mindcracker and good friend Anderzel to go caving with him and invented ABBA Rules caving, where the winner takes it all. ABBA Rules is a game where each ore (and also dungeon loot like nametags) is assigned a point value and the person with the most points at the end wins and gets to keep all the stuff collected from the game.

In Mindcrack season 3?, Beef punched the ender dragon in an... awkward area, so when the dragon died and left the egg behind, Guude said Beef was the father of the egg XD I don't remember if I watched s3 so I have no idea if anything Happened with this concept but *history of the world voice* you could make lore out of this!

So Team Canada has played a Lot of CTM maps (which fun fact were pretty much invented by another Mindcrack member, Vechs, with his Super Hostile series! Super Hostile has a bunch of things called "Zistonian", which are references to another Mindcrack member Zisteau, who has a very wild singleplayer series with even wilder lore but I digress). In Ruins of the Mindcrackers, they had a running joke that Beef was Etho and Pause's mom, which is a joke we can leave in the past actually /lh. They also played all the Diversity maps, Sky Factory, Terra Restore, Uncharted Territory uhhh and a couple more ctms and adventure maps! Each map kinda has its own story so in Diversity 3 for example they were trapped in a simulation? I think? Team Canada also recently played the Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons modpack, aka RAD, in which Beef was a wizard with a magic staff that could do anything from summon lightning to control hostile mobs.

Sourceblock SMP is a vanilla survival 1.14 series that ran for one season and the series starts with each of the Players being drawn to a strange sparkling water source that, once they touch it, brings them to the Sourceblock world. It also summons a giant zombie at one point. There's probably more lore for this series but like I said I haven't watched it all the way through yet 

He has a Patreon server called VintageCraft and has done a series or two on there as well, and played a few UHCs with them, so lore that how you will! 

Beef also played a few popular mods, notably Pixelmon, Life in the Woods, and Feed the Beast, with LitW being singleplayer and the other multiplayer. He's also recently played the Zoo and Wild Animals mod a lot. He did a short series with the Minecraft Comes Alive mod where he married one of the villagers and had two children, so that's canon now :D he’s played a Lot of Pixelmon starting when the mod first came out iirc (he chose Turtwig in his first series and built a Grass gym, then made a Normal gym in another series in uhh 2016) and he still plays to this day. Quite a few Hermits played on his Pixelmon servers with him, like Wels, Etho, Iskall, Stress, Slip, Zueljin, and also Guude and Phedran (a Mindcrack adjacent player and creator of the LitW modpack) and a few Mindcrackers on the older servers 

Mindcrack and friends played a lot of other games too- 7 Days to Die, Ark Survival Evolved, Unturned, to name a few, so you can pull a lot of lore out of these as well. Speaking of friends and non-Minecraft games, Beef teamed up with Pause, Keralis, and Slip (a former Hermit) to play the horror game the Forest, which saw them stuck on an island trying to survive against terrifying mutated human... things. They played it a few times as the game updated but as afaik it's the first time Beef played with Keralis and possibly Slip and since the game starts with the Player's airplane crashing, that could totally be how Beef first met them in-universe 

I... think? that’s everything I mentioned in the tags? There is probably way more stuff I’ve forgotten that stems from inside jokes and things that happen within each series, but I hope that was a) helpful and b) at least somewhat comprehensible lmao

Album Review - 'Beatopia' - Beabadoobee

Matty Healy just can’t help himself. 

After getting his greasy fingerprints all over her 2021 EP, Our Extended Play, The 1975 frontman manages to creep beneath the surface of Beabadoobee’s latest album, Beatopia.  

Sure, Healy only co-wrote two of the album’s tracks, but the production has that 1975 DNA running through it. 

You can hear it in the scratchy synthesisers and punchy beats of ‘10:36,’ and in the twilit shoegaze of ‘See You Soon.’ The sprawling Midwest emo of ‘Pictures of You’ features such Healyesque lines as ‘She reminded me that God starts with a capital/But I don't think I could do it all’ and even contributes backing vocals, while on the twee, jazz-inflected final track, ‘You’re Here, That’s the Thing,’ he sings   with the British-Filipino singer: ‘When the lights go down, don't say I didn't warn ya/I don't think that's legal in the state of California.’ 

‘I wrote the verses, and he showed me his chorus idea,’ Bea Kristi explains (via Genius). ‘I was like, ‘What do you mean by it?’ He said, ‘You know what? I don’t know, but it’s really fun.’ It was like, ‘Okay, go with it. It doesn’t really matter what’s illegal in California. It could be anything.’ 

If there’s a word to describe this record, it’s twee. Charmingly so at times, but painfully so at others. The longer it goes on, the more it begins to drag. 

While her 2020 debut, Fake It Flowers, threw itself headlong into scuzzy 90s nostalgia, the world of Beatopia is soundtracked by the light and breezy acoustic pop of the late 90s/early 00s. 

‘Sunny Day’ has a slick, warm groove, taking its inspiration from the mellow stylings of Nelly Furtado and Corinne Bailey Rae. ‘The Perfect Pair’ is what would probably happen if Michelle Branch did a soulful, teasing Bossa Nova track, which is exactly as enticing as it sounds. ‘Broken CD’ also adds a dash of Branch, along with a little M2M. Y’know, from the Pokemon movie soundtrack? ‘Mirror Mirror’ is still a fuckin’ jam, btw. With its soft, willowy dance between guitar and strings, ‘Ripples’ is practically a Disney ballad. 

‘Lovesong’ is equally saccharine, all twinkling pirouettes and orchestral swells, while ‘Fairy Song,’ of course, lives up to its title, its dreamy, sun-kissed twang caught adrift in a hazy sea of reverb. ‘Tinkerbell is Overrated,’ (featuring PinkPantheress) is magical for the first minute or so before the drum n’ bass kicks in, turning the track into some TikTok-ready soundbite. Only ‘Don’t Get the Deal’ (featuring Bea’s guitarist, Jacob Bogden) and first single ‘Talk’ seem to call back to the sludgy grunge of Fake It Flowers. 

Beatopia finds Bea still trying to make sense of who she is as an artist, which is to be expected from a 22 year old woman who was catapulted to fame just a few years ago off the back of a viral TikTok hit. It has a sweet childlike innocence and wonder, its rootsy, more orchestral touches sublime and the youthful angst a little more introspective this time around. 

But in the process, the singer ends up stripping away the scrappy, anxious charm that made Fake It Flowers such a joy to listen to in the first place. The songs are pretty enough (‘The Perfect Pair,’ ‘Sunny Day’ and ‘Talk’ especially), but also rather forgettable, lacking the immediacy and grit of earlier singles like ‘Worth It’ or ‘Care.’ It’s also kind of ironic that Beatopia is meant to describe Bea’s world, yet longtime collaborators like Matty Healy manage to infiltrate it and turn it into yet about 1975 side project (Well, parts of it, at least). 

Beabadoobee might get lost in her own world on Beatopia, but there’s still time yet to find her way…

hello! i don’t know if you’ve seen this but Bird Keeper Toby on YT has made a theory video on the meanings of the hieroglyphs from PLA. It’s really an interesting video and i thought it might be useful to you and your fics (which i fucking love btw… i legit can’t stop thinking about Volo and your fic hehe). Toby along with a discord has tried to translate many of the murals (which starts at 7:08) and has created a list of words that each symbol may mean (starting at 3:54). it’s all just a theory but it’s just so interesting (and i could definitely see Volo studying the hieroglyphs and coming up with theories like this lol).

Okay I have finally watched this video and I have many thoughts 🤣 I’ll answer your asks below the cut:

First of all, thanks so much!! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the fic!!

Now, I wanna preface by saying that quite honestly, I don’t think gamefreak put *that* much thought into the murals, and I do think we’re largely (as players) supposed to take Volo’s word for it: that the murals tell the story of the ancient hero. (Pokemon has never been… uh… shall we say consistent with its own lore [which is of course a side effect of it being a series that just keeps expanding from its original concept], and it also dances around things so that it doesn’t have to engage with ideas such as, you know, colonialism, but I do think it’s fun to look into things further and make things that deep.)

THAT BEING SAID. I think the way bird keeper toby et. al. translated the pokemon symbols is interesting! Palkia and Dialga standing for space and time, uxie azelf and mesprit standing for knowledge willpower and emotion, those all make sense to me. The nobles are trickier, and I would postulate “fate” or “weird/strange” (‘weird’ comes from ‘wyrd,’ an old English word for destiny) as another meaning for Wyrdeer, given that those are its namesake in both English and Japanese, along with perhaps ‘dance’ for Lilligant and ‘continent’ for Regigigas, if we were going to really get into the nitty gritty of it—and also Manaphy as potentially meaning ‘prince,’ (or perhaps even denoting the original Hero) since the legends about it call it the prince of the sea.

Though of course Volo’s idea that the hieroglyphs tell the story of the original hero also means that they tell the story of us as the player, considering the way we’re meant to mirror the hero, especially as we’re collecting the plates post-game, (as the hero collected the plates to meet arceus) and most of the pokemon depicted were pokemon that gave us the plates. (I do wonder if anyone has looked into the plates held by each of the depicted pokemon and what they say on the back—each plate having a piece of the Sinnoh Creation Myth.)

I also wanna mention that in that video, he says that the original celestica people came from Sinjoh, but I do think that’s the other way around. (Again, not that pokemon has consistent lore BUT—) the old verses are written by someone (who I obviously think can be inferred to be Cogita) who came from the celestica people but is living in a time PAST the celestica civilization. The mention of Sinjoh (while obviously, from a doylist perspective, is just meant to call back to the Arceus event from HG/SS) is, I think, meant to imply that some of the celestica people did leave Hisui and continue their lives elsewhere, and that Sinjoh may be where the author is from.

And honestly I think there are so many cool takes on these things! I don’t have a full set of headcanons for lore, and I like to hear what other people think! I certainly am not setting out to give an answer to all of this in my own fic, though I do put forth a lot of my own headcanons, especially about Cogita 🤣

Anyway I just said a lot of incoherent bullshit but in summary: lore cool.
