Platonic Miguel x Young Reader

You sat in your closet with your teddy clutched to your chest as you hummed a song to yourself like you usually did when your father had 'business' to attend to.

But, no matter how loud you hummed it wouldn't dull the gunshot sounds.

Suddenly the door opened and you looked up to see a man in a red and blue suit, he saw you were about to cry and quickly revealed his real face and knelt down.

"Hey, little one. What are you doing in here?" He asked in a soft voice as you stared at him.

"Daddy says I need to go in here when he has bad people over." You whispered as he nodded a little.

"Well... I need to get you out of here, sweetheart. Do you have some things you want to bring with you?" He asked as you clutched onto your teddy and nodded a little.

"What about daddy?" You muttered as Miguel looked at you sadly.

"He won't be coming with us, it'll just be us, okay? I need to get you somewhere safe." He explained as you looked at him. 

“Are you going to sell me?” You asked making Miguel look at you sadly. 

“No, sweetheart. That’s not what this is at all, darling. This is a bad place for a girl like you, I’m going to take you somewhere where you don’t have to hide, okay?” He explained looking at your teddy. 

“You can bring him with you and anything else you want, okay?” He said as you slowly nodded. 

“I have some blankets.” You whispered as Miguel stood up and let you out of the closet. 

You stumbled around your room and grabbed a few things, Miguel could see you were struggling with a few things. 

“Here, sweetie. Hand me your blankets and I can carry them.” He said making you nod a little and give you the blankets. 

“Is it okay if I pick you up? There’s a few things I don’t want you to see.” He explained as you nodded and put up your arms for him to pick you up. 

He smiled and picked you up in his arms. 

“I’ve seen dead people before, mister.” You muttered making Miguel look at you sadly.

“Well, I don’t want you to see anymore, alright. Close your eyes and rest on my shoulder, okay?” He said as you nodded and did as he said. 

He trudged through the dead bodies of the crack house before he got out into the open. 

"You can open your eyes now, little one." Miguel instructed as you oelmed your eyes but still kept your head rested on his shoulder.

"Where are we going?" You asked, yawning softly.

"We're going to go to my house and we'll figure some stuff out from there."

By the time Miguel got home you were completly passed out, he gently laid you down in the spare room and covered you with one of your blankets and made sure your teddy was close.

He got changed into pjs and sat on the couch, groaning softly.

After watching tv for a little bit Miguel heard you crying softly, he quickly ran to your room and saw you sobbing.

"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked as you looked at him.

"I want my daddy." You cried as Miguel looked at you sadly, knowing he'd just killed your father.

"Oh, love. It's okay, I know you miss him. But, I promise you're safe okay? Why don't you come out and watch some TV with me? Will that help?" He asked as you nodded a little.

He picked you up again and took you out to the lounge, you leant against him and began to relax again.

Miguel wasn't sure if he could let you go... You'd reminded him so much of his daughter and he couldn't think of letting you go into foster care.

He looked down at you to see you were asleep again and smiled a little.

"Good night, little one."

I’ve always kinda had this idea for a JPN-History inspired fantasy “Shonen” OELM type work.......... Main character was gonna be Mori Ranmaru and shit. Basically cobbled together his design from two reference books I got from CDJapan: one about drawing “shota” characters and another for Kimono inspired fantasy outfits.

Did I mention that the comic idea was a “Soft Boi Shonen” and yet Ranmaru was going to have have a super-powered evil side? Ye....

Tokyopop is not an artist, actually, it was a publisher/distributor of manga translated to English (and a couple other languages in other countries iirc) and they did a lot of original english language manga before they went under. Partnered with Borders Books and all that. They also are known to have absolutely fucked over their OELM creators and were simultaneously one of the most visible entrances to the comic industry for individuals in the states and also one of the most absurdly predatory contracts you can find.
