And no I did not steal the title from @definegodliness (this man is lying).  ;)  Thank you Mark, who along with sanddollarpoems, @prasannawrites, @expoundingspark and @goneahead kindly invited me on one or both of these.  Although I’m probably famous, or more likely notorious for being anti social (media) here, I think I’ll play.  This might be fun.   5 nice things about me: 1: I love to write, after 20 plus years of writing (nearly 11 on Tumblr), it’s a little more difficult, yet the love is still there. 2: I make people laugh, especially at work. 3: While I can be whinny, I’m rarely if ever mean.   4: Back to writing, I especially love my inner writer/child.  He’s very kind and loving even when I’m not feeling it. 5: This last one is kind of challenging, being very emotional, along with knowing sorrow a little too well, I’m also on a first name basis with joy and beauty.  This combination I believe helps me to be understanding of and compassionate toward others. - I usually go for dark and gritty books but then I’ll cleanse my palette w a little romance lol.. even better if it’s dark, gritty, And romantic 😩😩

- The only series I’ve ever read are harry potter (recently) and the hunger games (back in middle/highschool) but I'd love to find one I could get into!! I really love game of thrones as a show but for some reason I've been hesitant to read the books or anything w that same vibe

Part 1 of 5.

"Will you stop it with the accursed music?" Oddman snarled at Sahra, who put down her harp, balled up a fistful of dirt and threw it at the old man sitting on the opposite side of the campfire.

He yelped and glared at her, but Sahra didn't back down from glaring back. "You've been playing your stupid catching game all evening and I haven't once complained," she said and folded her arms.

"That's your problem then, isn't it?" Oddman jabbed a finger at her before holding his net-stick with both hands and lunging to catch another carcavra. "The damn critters are playing hard to get tonight, that isn't my problem," Oddman grumbled. The carcavras were attracted by the fire, but the ones in this part of the land were especially flighty. They were really showing Oddman up.

"That's your problem, you old tortoise, that nothing's your problem," Sahra fired back, "That's all you've been grumbling with your insecticide breath ever since I met you."

"Well what's your problem?" Oddman growled at her before spotting another carcavra to catch, "Whatever it is, it's not mine, isn't it?"

Sahra groaned in frustration and picked up her harp again. "Great, now I can't play anything because my muse has gone to shit," she said and looked at me as if I was supposed to go call on her muse and ask her to be done with the shitting business sooner. No, I wasn't going to do hat, so I shrugged.

"I'm not going to babysit this walking anteater, you know. You're the one that thought bringing him was a good idea," Sahra said to me.

"Firstly, they're not ants, they're carcavras. Ants don't taste this good. And secondly, anteaters can walk already, you harpy," Oddman said. I'll admit that got a laugh out of me. I wasn't sure how ants taste, but carcavras are certainly an acquired taste. When you're camping out in the wilds on the way to find the Queen's lost jewels, you can't afford to be picky.

Or maybe you can. There were at least four other expeditions, and two of them were full of knights, armoured and shiny, with their page boys and retainers and shit-catchers and what-not.

Once the night was quieter, Oddman started singing. I'm using the word very liberally, because he sounded more like a dying bear. He got so into it, he even asked Sahra to play the harp to his tune. She refused, and walked away. Not very far, just out to the outcropping of rock. She ended up sleeping next to it that night.

"Oddman, do you really think we have a shot?" I asked when we were finally lying on the grass.

"No," he said, "I'm really in this to catch some of the local carcavras. They have this fascinating blue-green stripe on the belly. Very distinctive. It's actually a kind of secretion that, if mixed with certain chemicals, turns into a poison. Think of how much poison I can make with all the carcavras I've got!"

I looked at the weirdly shifting bag by the rocks. It reeked.

"What do you think Sahra's in this for? I don't think anyone believes in this fool's errand but me," I said, "The Queen may have gotten robbed on the way back home and the court just made up this story to save face."

Oddman was snoring. It wasn't his problem any way, I figured.
