Of course, given what both versions of the Zorua line's Ability is there's basically no way to actually prove whether the Hisuian variant is extinct or not, or what the actual range and territories of either variant are. After all, they could be that Oddish right next to you. They could be you. They could be me!

Oh dear,  that’s an unfortunate situation. The situation surrounding Grape Soda has changed dramatically though since inside initially messaged you. The image I sent you was them of a few days old freshly emerged from the pot. This is them now.

As you can see puberty hit them rather hard.  The unique circumstances of their birth along with his siblings have meant they have all radically changed as they developed into maturity . In grape sodas case  whatever combination of hybridization and atavism that has taken place in them  has created emergent abilities that aren’t fully understood yet. In his case as he developed he grew an extending vine from his head and began to develop other fruiting bodies each conscious and varied in personality . While they’re still connected to the vine it appears that they are connected telepathically in a similar way a Standard Eggacute and that connection appears to have resolved whatever issue Grape Soda was having emotionally. though it isn’t without it’s failings occasionally the fruiting heads fall off and die so there have been incidences in the few months time Spand we’re all of the extra heads have fallen off and grape soda had reverted to his previous withdrawn behaviors, but the heads do grow back with time. There’s so much more about them now that we simply don’t understand and I don’t know if it would be ethical to introduce a standard Exeggcute to them as a possible extension of the collective. I simply don’t know what might happen. Though I wouldn’t mind another opinion on it.

Hello Ellisa , do you have any solitary or incomplete groups of Exeggcute interested in being adopted? Particularly ones looking for another to join their collective? Recently I grew A very… unique oddish i’ve been calling Grape soda

I think the term variant and hybrid may both be applicable to him. I am under the impression that seeds I grew him from likely come from a flower pollinated by an Exeggutor . Compared to his siblings he is very withdrawn, and based on appearances I think it’s because he’s not part of a psychic collective like a Exeggcute. So I’m looking to adopt a group that would be willing to take him in. Do you think you have any that would be interested?

Hmm, I may have one, however I'd like to evaluate Grape Soda first if possible, and introduce him to the group slowly. The clutch I have has rejected all of the mock eggs and baby psychic types we've tried to introduce. They aren't ready for adoption, and I'm not sure if they ever will be honestly, but it is worth a shot!

I'm taking an open tag from @kk7-rbs for this one! I chose these for the main AOM players based on vibes and also story potential.

Sid

He doesn't really favor any type, and that shows in his team. He evolved the Sirfetch'd from a Farfetch'd that fought him for an onion, the Goodra from a Goomy he found in the garden (his parents did NOT want him to take it inside), and the Alcremie from a Milcery he caught with the smell of his baking (it's probably a different variant than the one shown but he let it pick out its candy). The Mimikyu showed up when he was cleaning out the attic, and he feels like they have a lot in common actually. Donovan gave him a Galarian Yamask and fully believed it could never be evolved, but Sid figured out how to evolve it anyway. Emma gave him the Froslass when she got a shiny Froslass, and he had to retrain it to be less slappy and bitey.

Donovan

He loves ground and rock types more than anything but those alone are kind of a weak team, so he's diversified. He's a big fan of Pokemon that are Shaped, hence the Shelgon and Gastrodon. Unfortunately he has never met someone who was fooled by the Sudowoodo. The Mudsdale is his hard hitter, the Trevenant is his favorite, and the Sableye he picked up from a cave because it reminded him of Sid (then a small child). Through no fault of its own it got most of Donovan's care and affection (RIP Sid) and is kind of a spoiled brat.

Emma

Her team organizing principle is cuntiness. She picked Sobble as a starter years ago so she could end up with Inteleon. Pheromosa, Tsareena, and Froslass were all pretty easy choices too. She thinks the Machamp is cute and it has a great attitude (smash all opponents). It actually has not given her the most injuries - the Rapidash has, between its pointy horn and its tendency to get into her head with its psychic abilities. She doesn't super discourage this kind of behavior because any Pokemon that can knock her down can doubly do it to her challengers.

Avis

She favors ghost types (she used to have a Trevenant in her main team but she switched it out when she found out Donovan had one). She loves Rillaboom the most, though, because she's had it the longest - she raised it from a Grookey. Her default strategy is to use its size (it's 6' 11") to intimidate most challengers (including Sorian), and then switch to Dhelmise when it gets a little low on health. Anyone who knows their types will assume she has a grass-based team, at which point she can pull out Kommo-o or Grappleoct to surprise them. Gengar and Dragapult also unnerve people, which is fine by her. She hates it when people point it out but she's very kind to her Pokemon and is far more worried about how good of a trainer she is to them than how powerful they are as fighters (pretty powerful).

Sorian

He loves fairy and psychic types and they love him. Obviously the Ninjask is an exception, but he keeps it in his team just in case and because Horatio gave it to him (he still doesn't understand why Horatio thinks it's like him, but okay. It's cute). He often lets the Comfey stay out of its Pokeball and wears it as a flower crown, which Avis finds infuriating (how dare he have a cute Pokemon like that. fucking asshole). People think Avis will be irrationally pissed off by the Hatterene, since it looks kind of like a human woman, but it just looks like that - why would she be mad? Sorian's favorite Pokemon is actually the Togekiss, which likes to snuggle with him when he's alone but retreats as soon as Avis shows up. His most powerful Pokemon in battle are definitely the Claydol and Musharna.

Horatio

Horatio didn't start out trying to bridge as many types as possible, nor to have only dual-type Pokemon, but once he realized it was happening anyway he leaned into it. He started with the Galvantula, which used to ride in his pocket when it was a Joltik, and ended up with Vileplume when his Oddish would not stop accompanying him out of his florist shop. Edith gave him the Swinub he evolved into Piloswine, and Sorian gave him the Deino he evolved into Hydregion because it looked like him (it did). The Aegislash came from a Honedge that tried and failed to blend in with his gardening tools, and the Gallade - which he suspects used to belong to someone else - he found wandering in the woods when he was studying river plants. It has very little self control around people who are rude to him, and it sometimes gets switched out of his team temporarily when it's being moody.

If Odie and Vi played Pokemon, what would their team look like, assuming they had access to every Pokemon and variant of Pokemon (regional, convergent, etc.)? Important information.

i know this wasn't part of your question but i like to think that if they were gym leaders (stardew valley pokemon tournament anybody?) odie would be a fairy type and vi would be fighting. their wardrobes fit pretty well lmao

anyway for pokemon lineups, here's a few (reminder that when i played pokemon sword my entire thing was "i want the pretty pokemon even if they're bad at fighting" sooo...odie totally plays like that. odie will take pokemons that look cool and contribute to his aesthetic. vi takes the cool looking ones)

how many pokemon are in your dex, and how many are original? i’m unsure of how many to make lol

It’s actually a kind of checklist I go through:

What are my starters/starter evolutions?

Obligatory inclusions: every region has a Pikaclone (some kind of mouse with circle cheeks), a low-level wild bird, a low-level bug (usually with a cocoon stage), 2-3 box legendaries, some kind of minor legendary set with a matched theme, a pseudo-legendary 3-stage dragon, and a mythical.

Figure out what country/area you’re basing it on, and look up the area’s culture, see what sticks. For example, there’s a superstition in Poland that a squirrel on the roof means a fire’ll happen. So I made a fire-type, smoke-based squirrel.

Look at native animals to the area. See if you can mix these with the cultural things, and think of what type they would be in your head.

Work in the theme of your game as much as possible. If it’s time, make clock or ancient pottery Pokémon. If it’s volcanoes, use igneous rocks or those pine trees that only release seeds during a wildfire. And if your Pokémon versions have opposing themes, try to make equal amounts for each theme—those are your version exclusives.

With all of those done, NOW you start on including past Pokémon. They should fall in either the realm of “seldom used” or “I really like these,” ideally both. For example, I added in Comfey, because it’s only in Alola and the Sword/Shield DLC.

Add in the Pokémon that always show up—Magikarp, Ditto, the Eeveelutions, etc.

With established Pokémon, try to make a few regional variants that fit either your base country’s culture or your overall theme. I’ve got a Fire/Ground Skiddo and Ice/Normal Wooloo for Summer and Winter, and I have a variant on the Oddish line that makes them more poppy-like. Vileplume is modeled after a poppy, Bellossom after a Polish wedding crown.

If you get any other good ideas for variants, toss them in! I’ve got an Electric/Water Magikarp that turns into an Electric/Dragon Gyarados, because it sounded cool. Go for it!

After ALL THAT is done, take stock of how many types you have, and start adding Pokémon from past gens that fit the types you’re lacking. Try to keep your Pokédex between 150 and 200 total—Kanto was 151, and Hoenn was 202.

Tweak whatever types you have too much of/get new ideas for.

Then you’re done!

To answer your question, my Pokédex (margin of error for one or two, I just counted these by hand) has 159 entries, with 76 being totally original, and 20 being regional variants of established Pokémon.

Pokefake ideas

- Dawn stone evo for Nidoran that both sexes evolve into the same gender neutral mon: Nodorin> evolves via lvl up> Nidarch (named by @kariachi). 

- regional Ice/Ghost variant of the Hoothoot line

- Dusk stone evo for Hoothoot into a Ghost/Dark vampire themed owl monster

- Female exclusive Dawn Stone evos for all of the early bird raptors that makes them bigger, tankier, and harder hitting

- Oddish line a Ghost/Poison evo via the dusk stone. give it maximum stench

- Venonat line Dusk Stone evo into Ghost/Bug mothman

-  Sunstone evo for Ekans into a naga Dragon/Poison type

- regional variant of Ekans into a Water/Poison type sea snake

- Ghost/Poison evo for Parasect with Dawn Stone

- Normal type evo for Eevee if leveled up with zero affection/friendship

- Normal/Dark regional variant of Girafarig with reversed colors for the head and tail ends. The now head having sharp teeth. Found only in jungles and can’t learn any sound based moves.

- Normal/Steel Skarmory prevo. Fluffy chick covered in magnetic iron filaments that let it stick to its parents.

- Miltank and Tauros prevo baby

- Sigilyph variants based on other Nazca lines like the monkey (Psychic/Normal), spider (Psychic/Bug), tree (Psychic/Grass), whale (Psychic/Water)

No luck with the lotad I'm afraid..the pond where they're usually found was overtaken by swanna and their offspring.

I searched and searched until moonrise to no avail. Its like grass types were purposefully avoiding me...all except this little lady.

I've never seen this variant of oddish before- but she's been following me around since nightfall. Every time I look she's either trying to imitate me or stares at me with those lil eyes of hers.

If only Mutt weren't so scared of Oddish...I'd love to have her stick around with me forever.
