It has been an absolutely crazy year. Octopunk NYC and London were both completely lifechanging experiences I will never forget.

Three events, three opportunities to meet the Octopunks!

NEW YORK CITY - MARCH 24th - This is the premiere event for Detroit Reawakening, hosted at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens! Come join the cast and crew of the film and be the first one in the world to see it with 100 fans. Tickets go on sale Monday, February 21st.

MUNICH - JULY 21st - Enjoy an all day event in Munich, Germany, at the Filmtheater Sendlinger Tor - a historic theatre turned cinema. We will premiere the feature lengthed documentary Begin Again: The Making of Detroit Reawakening, along with many other screenings and surprises. Tickets go on sale Monday, March 7th.

LONDON - JULY 24th - If you can’t make it to Germany, come see us in the UK! We will be hosting the same programming as our German event at the Courthouse Hotel in Soho. Tickets go on sale Monday, March 21st, and also stay tuned for our special room rate at the hotel.

For some reason my social/general anxiety and *vague hand waving gestures* everything else-ness is making me all “oh...uh....no, I don’t want to be a bother.....I’m just here for whatever you’re putting out....really, I’m not here to actually request or ask anything.....you really don’t have to interact with me at all.....ever....really.....” when it comes to Patreon lol.

When I jumped in on OctopunkMedia patreon i was so okay with upper tiers being sold out so I wasn’t momentarily tempted by “ooooo that’s a kinda cool benefit” of like actually talking to anyone lmao. Because later on the thought of that was like oh my god no I could never do that I’m uncool please don’t talk to me I have no idea what to say.

So I’m totally good with patreon early content and post card teir. It is absolutely perfect.

Then came Maximilian’s patreon. I was good on the 1st teir, again because the stuff on upper tiers was too “oh no no no I don’t want to bother you” inducing. (....which does extend to “nah I’m just a spectator, thanks” attitude in so far as being incapable of asking anything on his AMAs lmao). But theeeen he just had to introduce mp3s for 2nd/3rd teir. So I went ahead and jumped up to teir 2, and was like “nahhhh I don’t need to say anything regarding personal request covers, I’ll just fade in the background and reep the mp3 benefits”.

But of course, because he’s clearly awesome and stays on top of the goings on in his patreon, I got a message thanking me for changing tiers and asking what song I’d like him to cover.

Cue 😅😅😅😅 moment. Followed by awkward adhd+anxiety induced reply all “ohh yeah I totally forgot about that.....just here for the mp3s......” I was tempted to leave it at that but then thought to myself omg Becky that’s you being difficult and annoying. Just pick a song and shut up. “[song] would be great....if that’s not too much trouble.....I don’t know if there’s an instrumental/karaoke version of it anywhere....if that’s a pain in the neck I can totally pick something else...” ....and my face has been all flushed and heated since then 😂. Like omg that’s a dumb song, omg why’d you have to be so wimpy and apologetic, pull yourself together!

What’s weird is....like, I have zero issue interacting with Michelle or Maximilian or anyone else on twitter or any other socials. Maybe because that feels more.....reacting to something you said and unleashing my response into an open area, oh hey you’ve chosen to interact with it, cool! lol. As supposed to....oh god no please don’t actually talk to me specifically.....that’s horrifying.

....so yeah lol. If the postponed to August screening+after party here in NYC does happen.....things will be interesting. I have visions of me just smiling and waving awkwardly while holding off temptation to hide in a bathroom or something if anyone (Octopunk folks, fellow fans, anyone really) talks to me 😅😅.

(and one may wonder well Becky why are you planning on going to the event if you’re so anxious? My best guess is a mix of “omg people are actually planning on coming in from far off places for this....you fucking live here. Go!” plus FOMO+regret if I don’t, plus a little straight up masochism wanting to step out of my comfort zone and maybe have some fun meet new people all that jazz)
