Hi! I've been having a deep dive into whatever Lazzo Fratello content there is and I stumbled across the redbubble sticker that you guys have up. Does the transgender lazzo sticker confirm that he is, in fact, transgender? Or was it just a nice thing you wanted up?

JJ and I waffled on it a few times in 2019 because we were unsure whether we wanted to have trans rep with the character, or if we wanted to show that trans people are capable of playing cis characters. Hence, we just left it ambiguous for awhile. Also since Lazzo never had visual or verbal confirmation of it on screen, felt a bit self congratulatory to claim that it was rep outright.

(One thing Lazzo DOES have on screen confirmation of in DE is being diabetic - the bracelet that JJ forgot to take off during shooting.)

But considering Lazzo is canonically, onscreen confirmed to be trans in the upcoming short film, yes! Lazzo is a trans character. Even tho the new film and DE exist in different universes, he is pretty much the same in both (albeit he's about 24 in the new short, while he was 19 in Detroit Evolution.) We also keep that's he's diabetic, to the point of it kinda driving the plot forward. And he does in fact have an android girlfriend :)

spent all day drawing moments from detroit evolution bc i was lacking inspiration n im proud of most of em ngl akjsdhkjsdfh (it started off as warm up doodles [the sunset nines one] but i just had fun doin em until i stopped [the third gavin] just bc it wasnt looking right to me but its okay at least aksjdh)

Connor: Because it's sitting right in front of us and it's broken.

Hank: *leans in* Suspicious.

Chris: If it matters - probably not - but Captain Fowler was the last one to use it.

Fowler: Liar! I don't even drink that crap!

Chris: Oh, really? Then what were you doing by the coffee cart earlier?

Fowler: I use the wooden stirrers to push back my cuticles; everyone knows that, Miller!

Tina: Ok, ok! Let's not fight! I broke it, let me pay for it, Nines!

Nines: No! Who broke it??!

Connor: Nines... Gavin's been awfully quiet.

Gavin: REALLY???

Connor: Yeah! Really.

Gavin: Oh my God!

Nines: I broke it. It burned Gavin's hand so I punched it. I predict ten minutes from now they'll be at each other's throats with war paint on their faces and a pig head on a stick... Good. It was getting a little chummy around here.
