Every time i hear the UK dub for octonauts I get thrown for a loop because I watched the US dub of the show so to hear a British accent coming out of peso's mouth was quite the experience the first time around

YEAH I WATCH OCTONAUTS.

My personal takes on the main trio because I used to and still am obsessed with this goofy show because it's good and it's right next to Wild Kratts on biggest influences.

As for designs

Barnacles, I feel, is the closest to canon. Also because I feel like he takes good care of the uniform and just defaults to that as his primary fashion style.

Kwazzi is far more open and loose. Gave him piercings and jewelry because he's a pirate, torn ear and fluff. The black bits on his legs and ears are to tie him to Calico Jack (working on that weirdo atm)

IT'S MY PARTY AND I CHOOSE AMERICAN DUB HISPANIC PESO. Always resonated with him and loved him, so I gave him a warmer color scheme and a knee brace since I assume he probably has bad penguin knees. He's the one I took most pride and joy in here.

As a funfact for y'all, you know how Peso has a Latino accent in the US version of the show, right?

Turns out there's a part of Antarctica that belongs to Argentina and also another one that belongs to Chile, which are both countries that belong to South America and are considered Latino countries. And yup, i researched, there are penguins who live in both of them. Funny thing? These countries' native currencies are called "Peso". Argentine Peso and Chilean Peso, but they're both called Peso.

The creators actually researched and named Peso after the currency intentionally and i'm dying. 😭✨‼️

As a Latina, i already knew this, but i thought i might as well share this piece of information to y'all because YES. Might make an in-depth post abt this later btw, especifically about how the education system works in both of those countries and an approximate age of how old Peso would be (or is) if he graduated from his Medical School THERE.

I personally headcanon that Peso is from Chile, but that's just me being biased because The Octonauts' VA'S from the Latin Spanish dubs are Chilean lol- (I'm neither from Chile or Argentina but the fact that the VA'S are Chilean makes me headcanon that 😭) (Most of the VA'S from the Latin Spanish dub of The Octonauts also worked for the Latin Spanish dub of Avatar: The Last Airbender, just another lil' funfact).

Anyways, enough rambling, this whole thing was pretty interesting to investigate even though i knew most of it (but i managed to investigate in a more in-depth manner) ngl.

While I've poured a lot of effort into my redesigns and would love to show them off.. at the same time I don't want a repeat of Octonauts were everyone just disrespects my boundaries and copies my designs line for line. And sometimes worse, copies them and claims that they made the designs themselves.

TADC is pretty popular right now so I just think posting full ref sheets is not a good idea 💀

Yeah for a while there I didn't know anything about the game and only had OCs. Buuuuut I wanted to make proper grounded lore for my cookies, aaaand I loved the canon cookies designs so much that I just bit the bullet and dowloaded OvenBreak, Kingdom and Tower of Adventures.

I didn't like the gameplay for OvenBreak and abandoned that game pretty quick. I became OBSESSED with Kingdom and I still haven't tried Tower of adventures-

I have a very bad perception of time.. but my guess is I've been playing CookieRun: Kingdom for at least 2-3 weeks or so.. ? Its been a blast so far :)))

There's also evidence to suggest that he wasn't dubbing my comic "for fun" or just as a "gift". It looks more like he was using it to expand his portfolio. Pretty scummy.

Peso

Peso:he is 29 and is a doctor/medic (I looked it up There can be a difference but it depends on the context)He is in a relationship with Kwazii and he is from chile (chilean Antarctica )(I looked it up people live there in small towns)(apparently) (although I’m not the biggest fan of the us dub i do love chilean peso) He has a good relationship with all his siblings and is very protective of his little brother pinto and fells responsible for him as there dad left when pinto was a baby which led there mother to fall into a depression (also a wee bit of postpartum), pesos older siblings we’re both away at university so peso had to help his mum a lot with pinto .Peso loves his extended family but only really gets to see them all at once at weddings and funerals as there is so many of them (The struggle is real i can relate) peso studied medicine outside his home town but still in chile and never really traveled outside of chile at all until he joined the Octonauts when he was 28. He met Kwazii at a bar on a bar crawl with friends from uni to celebrate them passing their exams when he was 27,Kwazii offered him a position on the octopod and a date. peso agreed to go out with him but didn’t agree to join the Octonauts until the following year.Peso is a talented pianist and often used to play in bars and restaurants for some extra money when he was a student and still plays for the Octonauts entertainment occasionally.Peso doesn’t talk to his dad that often because he saw firsthand the effect him leaving did to him and the rest of his family and he still doesn’t fully forgive him for it but he has good communication with his mum and the rest of his family.Peso is very close with pretty much everyone on the octopod there a pretty tight net  group.He injoys jigsaw puzzles and often does big jigsaws with Shellington who also loves them he uses he/him pronouns and is gay.

Have you seen this childhood show: Octonauts (2010-Present), United Kingdom and Ireland (English, was dubbed in many other languages)

Commentary/Context/Memories:

First user commentary: I loved this show as a kid, both me and my best friends neurodiversity latched onto it as young kids and we aren’t as obsessed about it now, but is still one of the kid shows that we will gladly watch with our younger siblings. gotta love shows that are a bit more subtle educational shows. i still remember so many facts lmao

Second user commentary: Shout out to this show for getting me interested in vehicle design! I mean- LOOK at the OCTOPOD. That was the coolest thing I ever saw as a child and it’s still the coolest thing I’ve seen today.

[Mod A: According to the wikipedia, this show is like a kids version of Star Trek or the Thunderbirds (in terms of the exploration and educational factor), which is pretty cool! It was about an underwater crew made of eight members (all with their own special skill sets) who use fictional high tech machines to explore the ocean. While the machines and the Octopod (their home base) is fictional (so far), the actual environments they explore (like the Great Barrier Reef) and the animals they meet (like the whale shark) are very real! The cast comprises of Barnacles (Polar Bear, Captain), Kwazii (Cat, Lieutenant/Cryptozoologist), Peso (Penguin, Medic), Prof. Inkling (Dumbo Ocotpus, Founder/Oceanographer), Dr. Shellington (Sea Otter, Biologist), Tweak (Rabbit, Engineer), Dashi (Dachshund, Computer Programmer/Photographer) and Tunip (Vegimal, Chef). I was heavy into marine biology (as well as Astronomy) as a kid, so if this show came out earlier, I would’ve been really into it, particularly since it was quite educational and provided interesting facts about the ocean and the animals that live there. Dr. Shellington (the sea otter) probably would’ve been my favourite, bc that’s my favourite marine animal <3]

Backstory:

grew up in Florida with her dad right on the Everglades, so I was always used to being outdoors. His job as a ranger made her quickly fascinated in wildlife and wildlife conservation, and she often had to fix a lot of his machines like his airboat causing her to find her love for engineering. She came out as trans in seventh grade and her father was very accepting and helped her get whatever gender affirming things she needed. Even got his hair dyed green with her. She hadn’t heard of the Octonauts program till after she went to college, but she quickly found out about it when it was started up again, her junior year. She brought it up to her best friend Dashi who said she had already heard of it, but thought it wasn’t going on anymore. Sent it was started up again. The two of them decided to do it together. Then later that same year they got their friend Shellington, whom she met through Dashi to join it as well. And the program also let her to meet Kwazii. She’s actually quite close with Kwazii and Barnacles.

Tweak is not her preferred name or birth name. It’s a nickname her father gave her and basically the only one she tells people

she has a very strong southern accent

she is not a morning person often sleeping in

she refers to Captain barnacles as “Cap” and will occasionally call Kwazii “Kwaz”

she likes playing video games and reading their manuals

obviously, she likes building things. She does like fixing things, but it does get frustrating when Kwazii breaks everything within 5 seconds

i should watch detective conan. i think i would enjoy detective conan know that i'm old enough to know what's happening. maybe i'll watch the korean dub just like i used to. i remember there was this episode where conan got like hurt or something and he had to be carried around on someone else's back and i was obsessed with it. i was kind of a freak as a kid i was always obsessed with seeing characters get hurt. i liked the robocar poli episode where jin i think broke her leg and i would imagine poli my favorite character breaking his leg too. and i liked the octonauts episode where captain barnacles got stung by a jellyfish i remember watching it on repeat. i think this is what those whump people are always going on about except i was on that shit as a 7 year old. i don't know where i'm going with this post. anyways i should start watching that show one day soon

It’s been 5 months but I’m here now. I’m have been all over the place in terms of interests. I’m not too into octonauts anymore since there’s not much content that I can consume. Since it’s Halloween season, I’ve been into creepypasta for like a week and that one fnf mod, hypno’s lullaby. now it’s all about beyblade. I’ve learned Moses parted the sea with a bey. I used to be pretty into beyblade metal fusion when I was younger and now I started watching burst. I hate to admit it but the anime beyblade burst is so much better than metal. Even the opening song is cooler. The only thing metal’s got going for it at this point is nostalgia. I personally really like how you can actually see the details of the beys and when they’re spinning in burst compared to metal

I’m actually not sure what Valts bey is called cause there’s like two different answers and idk which ones correct. Anyways, as you can see there’s a lot more detail put into the models of the beys in Burst than Metal. Also the voice acting for burst is a whole lot better (English dub). In Metal, it was actually a bit hard to sit through sometimes but in Burst it’s way better. I still love the metal saga for Beyblade cause nostalgia hits hard but I just can’t lie to myself when I know Burst is so much better (so far) in quality (only talking about the anime). They were made in completely different times though so I will give it that. 3D animation in cartoons doesn’t look like complete garbage anymore so it makes sense. I should also probably say that I actually haven’t finished either anime to completion yet. I just can’t really stand Ginga’s voice and I only just started watching Burst after I stopped hating it for being something new and unfamiliar to me.

Idk why I do that for everything, first it was when dantdm first played riddle school, then it was Pokemon sun and moon the anime, then I saw the Commercial thing for Beyblade bursts when I still had cable tv on Disney XD and I immediately despised it for no reason at all. All of these things I actually enjoyed after I got over my immediate hatred. And then it’s when the series ends that I actually go and watch it and I find myself having a good time. Why can’t I enjoy a show while it’s still airing and stuff? I could have enjoyed it with others at its peak and look forward to the next episode with them.

I don’t think I’ve ever had my own bey before. My sister had one from the metal series and she let me use it a couple time. There was no one to battle with though so I never got any of the cool experiences. Because of this, I really can’t speak about the quality of the Beyblades that were actually sold to people. I would really like one but it’s sorta like Pokémon, you can technically play it by yourself but friends are highly encouraged. You can own two Pokémon games and two consoles to trade with yourself same as you can own two Beyblades and battle yourself, but is it really the same? All my friends are not into beyblades so I couldn’t really hold a friend group tournament or anything like that. Also I’m kinda broke anyways so I guess it doesn’t matter.

A little side note: I actually don’t really know if I’m supposed to call them “beys” or “Beyblades” I’m pretty sure I’ve heard them both ways but I’m not entirely sure.
