Ah, my dearest darling Music...you could not avoid my creature-ification beam forever. Honestly I'm surprised you avoided it as long as you did. I was hitting DJ and the DCA with it within a month of them becoming my blorbos.

Though I guess I should clarify, this is my second attempt at this design...the first one came out looking like an animu pretty boy. (I'll post it below the cut for y'all to point and laugh.) I wanted to keep his general shape, though make his head less blocky cuz biological. Funnily enough it was drawing the Smiling Critters Music Man that helped me figure out how to do that without just...making him look human. As for his body, a potbelly + narrow and sloping shoulders I think captures his shape pretty well.

ALSO. Like an octopus, he has no bones. (Except his teeth I guess? I guess octopi have beaks so that kinda tracks I think.) So he's very squishy and leaning against him is like leaning against a bean bag chair unless he deliberately tenses up.

And I draw a quick comic for how he and the reader first encounter each other. The reader, new in town, sees something strange in the water but doesn't get a good look at it before it hides, and then this happens:

FAILURE OF A MEETCUTE. Someday I will have Music and Reader meet in a way that doesn't involve the reader initially mistreating Music...probably.

Don't worry, Reader is actually quite nice to him once they realize he's not a feral kraken trying to swamp their rowboat. And eventually Music will get a smooch on the head to make up for the whap.

Last day of mermay, so posting the various doodles I've done of MerMusic. I like calling him MerMusic because it still gives him the MM initials. Maybe Music Mer would make more sense. So I might retag my 'octomusic au' stuff at some point.

This one's probably my favorite. It's much closer to what I want with his body shape and kinda shows the extent to which he can "stand" out of the water. And his expression turned out very cute. :3

I'm being carried off. Don't worry Music's about to realize I can't breathe under water which I'm sure will be hilarious for both of us.

He baby. I haven't fully decided how/why he has a tophat but I like the idea that it started as some kind of bed/shelter/basket that he was put in and eventually grew into. Him looking like Autism Creature was unintentional but I'm gonna roll with it for now. =w=

Bouncer Music Man - Tag Haven't decided much about this one other than Bouncer is the dominant personality, and DJ possibly doesn't even exist. Still a lot of stuff TBD.

Flower Fae AU - Tag While out in the woods, reader gets shrunk for reasons that are initially unclear. They are rescued by a pair of flower fae called Sun and Moon. Things get awkward when they return to human size.

OctoMusic AU - Tag OG Music Man is an Octo-Mer siren. Hijinks ensue.

Forgotten Face - Tag - Fic Caine x Reader in The Amazing Digital Circus

Waaay Back Burner:

Monster in Paris AU - Tag Calling it the MiP AU because of the pic that inspired it but will not follow the MiP plot very closely. Normal spider DJ is science'd into giant spider spider with human intelligence who's good at music. Similarities to MiP end roughly at that point, but I don't have a ton of plot planned out for this.

Nothing Behind the Mask - Tag I WISH I had more of an idea of what to do with this but alas. Fantasy world where Sun and Moon are powerful entities trapped in the same mask, and have magic'd up floating clothing to appear more human. Reader is there too.

Childhood Friends AU - Tag Spider-DJ and Y/N meet when they are kids. DJ's species is quite small when young, and quite large when grown, leading to an...interesting reunion when Y/N and DJ are grown.

DJMM in VR AU - Tag The 'bots in the 'Plex have access to a VR MMO. DJ and the reader meet and form a friendship there, and eventually the reader finds out their new online buddy is the giant spider 'bot from work.
