restarting catcrumb tomorrow. i dont know. i dont feel like i have the desire or ability to draw anything at all, nowadays. cats, oc art, fanart. the well feels dry.

sigh. cc started in large part as an exercise against perfectionism, as an unstoppered creative outlet, and now i open mspaint and i have no thoughts or desires on what to draw. everything feels so... already done by me. like ok well thats the default thing ive thought of. anything interesting or novel? no? well. sigh.

60% of keeping cc going is that i am proud of how long ive been able to maintain it - im terrible at habits in general and cc is the longest one ive ever managed. of anything. genuinely. 40% is wanting to keep giving people a little bit of delight, i dont want people to miss cc bc i was too lazy. that also includes my mom noticing if i stop posting forever lol.

i know i could take a longer hiatus until i get back the desire to do art but i also know that is 90% guaranteed to let me never do it again. and part of cc was the NO, JUST DOODLE SOMETHING. ANYTHING. i just have to keep doing it.

theres also how my dominant hand/wrist are definitely... less happy than they used to be lmao.

i dont know. it's complicated while also feeling flat and grey.

HIIIII, I’ve followed you for a while but I just wanted to take a moment to say how cool I always find your art 😭 I’m sorry people have been so weird about it!! I know it makes it much harder to then keep positive and not punch down on yourself when other people are being rude, so just letting you know to keep at it! It WILL help your mindset eventually, I promise.

Also just saying I admire how you draw in the twst artstyle SO MUCH, as someone who tries myself sometimes to study it I know it’s way WAYYYY harder than it looks 😔 I’m just SO IMPRESSED when I see your stuff <3 I’m so glad you’ve been more open about your oc’s recently as well.

Believe me, my punching down is mainly a me thing. Tried not doing it and for 10 days I managed to, but it’s gone back to 0 days after an episode lol. BABY STEPS. Though, this is like a 10 year long existing habit that’s still in the process of being dismantled.

Trust, I’m only open about the OCs because people keep asking about them 😭💖 It’s why 90% of their posts are in response to prompted asks. I still don’t exactly have the nerve to do anything like… what’s something normal people do? Information compilations on text posts? Granted, I don’t think those are my style at the end of the day. So, I probably won’t be doing that ever. I don’t have much to say in words anyhow that can’t be done in a drawing that probably speaks for itself. There’s benefit to slight some interpretation legroom, I think.

The issue(s) with the Sun and Moon ‘fandom’, under the cut (i encourage you to add your own horror story regarding any topic about this)

- The sexualization 🔞

I would argue that the sexualization of these two are *almost* to the same level Toy Chica is and im so tired of it. Because of the overwhelming amount of it. You cannot search up their names without something suggestive popping up, on any platform. I fear that im looked as one of the people that sexualize them to high heaven because of the overwhelming amount of fans that do. and theres alot of people who are uncomfortable with it period and cannot get away from it. because of them we ALL look like gooners. thats not even mentioning the amount of nsfw accounts ive had to block ever since i started posting them more consistently. and they were all dca centered. its gross and it just uncomfortable. a heavy part of the issue is also the abundance of vrchat models of them. most, if not ALL are sexualized in some way. ive seen so many with higher proportions, ripped to have ‘assets’ added, for fucks sake someone enabled one of those assests in front of CHILDREN in a public lobby. makes the character unappealing too with how everyone sees him

- The sun and moon show fandom 📺

I think the first red flag was it being made only 3 months after Security Breach first released. Im not gonna get into its personal drama as i truly just dgaf but this isnt about that. Its how its affected the characters so lets start. The show gets their characters COMPLETELY wrong, its just oc’s with the name plastered on it. And the amount of stupid characters are introduced makes it hard to make custom designs and search up certain ones, such as jack o moon. The show has caused a complete misunderstanding of their character, some starting to believe that is just the undeniable canon. ive seen people get harassed over “hey this is incest” on a sunxmoon post. when its not. Ive also had my friends who do impressions be harassed to do these characters that they dont know. and have had friends who draw needing to clarify it isnt tsams. or to draw it. its obnoxious. not to mention its crawling with creeps and an unsafe enviorment for kids. i was sent death threats trying to expose those creeps that still walk away scott free today. which irritates me. also the show just sucks lol its just content farm slop? stop hyping it up? its been two years with daily nonstop.

ok. im not gonna name names. but 90% of fan models have ruined peoples perception of how they are designed flawlessly. and the over abundance of these models have also inbred even worse ones. i honest to god think these models started some of the biggest stereotypes when it comes to the fanart. the sharp teeth, the long hat, the petals, the claws, the paws, all things that originated from the models. makes me upset because it gets to a point where all these attributes make the design stray farther and farther from what they originally are (along with the personalities deteriorating) makes them completely different people. i have a mutual that has taken these and made their own oc based off of it and its awesome.

im too tired to continue but you get my point. i hate the way theyre treated and i dont associate with anyone who does the above. theyre underrated characters, but their fanon interpretations are overrated. they dont deserve half the shit they recieve. good day

Basically my concept of what female serpoians could be...

Ok so

I like to think that, as an early species, they did have females, but as years went by they diverged from the males and by now cannot even produce any offspring with them, at least not in a natural way as infertile offsprings were already a thing when they started their space journey (sort of when a tiger has a baby with a lion)

Also, they probably just kind of got comfortable with the way they reproduce by now so they go "why complicate stuff? It's over bru let go" with any suggestion to just come together and try something again. They probably got a lot of beef going on too sooo another reason to not try anything anymore.

Still thinking about their society as a whole since they can absolutely just decide to pop a kid one day (parthenogenesis), but they usually let this job go for the giant biomachines that basically mixes a bunch of their DNA and tries to create new stuff without making all of them identical (kind of like a certain chimera in the manga that make alien combat suits by devouring people, I'm not telling any more than that)

The harshest condition the "irregular" have is that they can't sample DNA to the mother-biomachine thing, but if they're good to live normally without much difficulties then yeah sure go off

As to my inspo while making their looks...

I, obviously, got it from the Pegassa!

Jsjsisjsjs look how cute they are

They are, too, kind of the inspo for the regular Serpoians, but I see it as something like, 10% Pegassa and 90% the Dada aliens

As seen by the very similar body patterns that are a nightmare to draw holy moly

So I kind of just imagined an inversion of sorts, as most of my base concept came from the Pegassa.

And from the Dada? I only got the idea of a white face with black surrounding it.

Other idea that went in the making is the shower thought that male serpoians have big dicks because their females used to be bigger lmao I know it doesn't work exactly like that but still...

Ohmy a whole interview I see lol, okay...

As same as I feel with OC art and their ships, it's very neutral to me, as long as you're happy with your art and having fun, it's fine. Ofc keep it off the proshipping stuff, that's terrible and very not okay to do.

It's kinda funny, I actually enjoy some stories I've read or just seen on art so yeah, they're all very comical (I'LL DEFEND NACHA X FRANCIS TILL THE END RAAAAHH)

It's rlly cute when ppl send me their art like just to know opinions or directly share it avec moi, and if my words are encouraging for them to keep creating that's awesome:D ✨

I'm using Ps to draw and PremierePro to animate, I've tried many programs but these are the two I'm more confortable with atm, mostly bc I've got tons of personalized brushes in Photoshop and I like the effects I can do there without the need to open other programs. For the time it takes, well yeah depends, if it's the comic for example it takes me around 2 days bc of the composition, where the dialogues will be, making sure I'm telling the story right and so, but with other doods it takes around 4 hours, and with monotone drawings like the baby Anastacha one, not more than 90 minutes, they're pretty fast.

Can you tell us more about your Sailor Earth OC? 👀

Oh my goodness thank you for asking!!! I'm going to be greedy and use this as an info dump, hope that’s okay anon! 🙏

For starters, I should mention that Sailor Earth is a redesign/alternate fandom recycle of my main oc Genevieve Marena. She was originally created in 2018 for the Fairy Tail fandom and started with the name Hoseki Ishi. 

Gene's thing was always diamonds, gems and minerals. So when I became obsessed with- *ahem* I mean, Got into Sailor Moon, I could not resist the urge to draw her as Sailor Earth. I drew her within a month of reading and buying the first 2 volumes LOL. 

This is the art from August 1st 2022

Since then I fell utterly in love with Dream arc, Mamoru and any version of him, Elysion, the Golden Kingdom, Helios’ role as a guardian priest and literally anything related to the Earth as Naoko Takeuchi wrote of it.

I was also low-key upset about how 90s was treating Mamo and Usagi, so I ironically made her the senshi that defends the love of Serenity and Endymion and protects their happiness lol.

Thinking about her more seriously as I am now deeply attached to Sailor Moon, I have a working summary of how I imagine her.

I explored her various designs for the series back in Summer 2023 (again after finishing the manga) 

More recently, I've been brainstorming how to more efficiently include her in the Sailor Moon story. I've been doing light research on Mythology, becoming more familiar with Astrology and crystals. I was honestly struggling quite a bit when it became clear that Earth is almost excluded from Astrology. That is, it's not treated in the same respect as Mercury or Neptune etc. are. 

I also knew that I didn't want to make her a Princess, that would be like replacing Endymion as the heir to the planet. And I was not about to make her the child of NQ Serenity and King Endymion. So I thought I might make her somewhat like Chibi Moon. If there can be two Sailor Moon senshi, then I say, why not two Earth guardians? Then I noticed that Pink Moon is actually the term for April's full moon. So I thought I could do something with that to make my Sailor Earth stand out (since it is obviously a very unoriginal idea in the first place) but I have yet to find a similar thing for Earth. 

Basically Earth is much less interesting than literally any other heavenly body to astronomers and astrologists so I'm working with very little lol. 

Anyway, I decided she'd be an Elysion Priestess and that she was given the powers of a Sailor Senshi to protect the Earth and her prince. She goes to the surface and attends Rei’s school, T.A girls academy. 

More recently, I was watching Eternal for like the 1 millionth time and it has always bugged me that the 2 Maenads look like they are from the Moon.

They look more like Queen Serenity than someone from Earth.

So, no offense to Takeuchi my girl, but imma change that. Because unfortunately I feel like things from Silver Millenium like the Twin bun hair on these two overlap too much with what should be unique to Earth. (But that is a blog for another day, so I digress) The two Maenads are now Gaia and Terra. Gaia becomes Sailor Earth and goes to the surface as Hoseki Jinsei and her Lavender Earth Crystal forms.

See these two? One of ‘em is Gaia.

Also, since it is already shameless enough to make a Sailor Earth self insert, I'm inserting my late cat Flash and his name is Apollo because Moon kitties are from Mau therefore any planet can have one not just Moon senshi. But also cuz I miss the hell out of him and I can't look at Artemis without thinking about him.

As of right now, this is the general concept of my Sailor Earth:

Name: Gaia

Gender: female

Civilian Name: Hoseki Jinsei

Senshi name: Sailor Earth

Sailor Crystal: Lavender Earth Crystal

At some point, I feel like I answered this for Oisín and/or Emil... but I can't remember if I have.

Oisín = smoke and ash

Emil = freshly baked bread and cinnamon

Kingsley = pine trees

René = citris

What's a "traditional" or old hobby your OC has? How did they pick it up?

Oisín - Calligraphy, because @cyanide-latte 's OC Wei Renqiao taught them and its an activity they do together.

Emil - Tatting, embroidery, and mending, because his grandmother taught him.

Kingsley - Wood carving, because if you get bored in the woods, have a knife on your person, and see a lot of dead wood.... well... it was bound to happen.

René - if you don't count classical dance, then I don't actually think they have one.

What was the main inspiration behind their design?

Oisín - the TV monitor design was a combo of wanting to do an object head and a specific visual aesthetic you can find in Harajuku, mixed with a hint of Irish flare. Their headless design came from old Irish/Scottish legends and myths (between what I researched and what my grandpa used to tell me about the dullahan). The design that has a head came from 90s/2000s shoujo.

Emil - Besides the obvious nods to Dame Gothel, cause he's a Gothel expy, I took inspiration from my jewish heritage. Mainly because my entire idea for him as an OC was to combine the original tale of Rapunzel, Into the Woods, and Tangled - but what if Tangled was less antisemitic?

Kingsley - ALRIGHT IM SETTLING THIS NOW--- No. His inspiration did not come from Phantom of the Opera. His inspiration came DIRECTLY from The Chronicles of Prydain which is the source material the Black Cauldron was adapted from. The depiction of the Horned King we see in the book series is VERY DIFFERENT from the 1970s Disney adaptation. And the choice to use the half skull mask for daily wear while the full skull and horned mask for ceremonial wear came from a combination of me not wanting to draw the horns all the time as well as a choice to represent his character growth and development visually, beyond just the scars and tattoos he gains. He's not a Phantom expy- I promise OTL

René - Very easy. Odile from the classical ballet, Swan Lake. They are an Odile expy and in my personal opinion, translating that into a Yana Tosobo grade character design felt extremely easy LOL

Ok, so, been thinking about College age! Jotaro, and I’m like 90% sure that he went to college in Florida, because, how else would he have met his canon wife? I mean, a few ways I guess, but this is also Jotaro Fucking Kujo we’re talking about here. So, yeah, him going to college in Florida is fun.

If I were more committed to this, I’d look up colleges in Florida that have good marine biology programs or something, but I’m not. Also I’m not a college student myself so I’m just guessing here based off what I’ve heard/seen

First day in the town he ends up in a stand fight

Both of them hate it when it turns out that they’re roommates

Jolyne’s mom, who I’ll call Marina, was one of the few girls who didn’t immediately swoon over Jotaro, gaining her instant respect in Jotaro’s mind

Marina and Jotaro sit next to each other in one of their classes

They also share this class with Jotaro’s roommate

Jotaro and his roommate sit on opposite sides of the room

Note, this roommate does have a design, but not a name yet

Jotaro ends up moving off campus, with Joseph buying him a house nearby

It turns out that Hol Horse is in the same area that Jotaro is. It was very awkward passing by each other on the street

One day they need to to a group project in groups of three, and while Jotaro and his ex-roommate still don’t like each other, they’d both rather do this thing with someone they know

Jotaro and his ex roommate have a silent agreement that Marina doesn’t need to know about Stand Business

One day the three of them are eating out and it turns out that Hol Horse actually really likes that place

The two try their best to not look at each other

Marina notices anyway, and dispute Jotaro telling her that he doesn’t know him/isn’t friends with him, he fails and Marina goes over to talk to him

Turns out he’s not that bad of a guy, though it’s still very awkward

The fact that Jotaro no longer has a roommate is soon ignored due to the fact that his ex roommate and Marina are over there all the time

Not sure about Marina, but Ex-Roommate is a politics major probably

Not sure what class a kid studying marine biology and a kid studying politics would share, but for the sake of plot and ✨Stand Magnetism BS✨ they share one

Ex-Roommate’s Stand is called American Idiot, though that’s basically all that I’ve figured out about it

Jotaro ends up smoking so many cigarettes a day that Marina eventually confiscates them all, she enlists Ex-Roommate’s help to take away any Jotaro might have

Jotaro ends up drinking a lot of coffee between early morning classes and stand attacks. He probably starts putting in energy drinks into his coffee

Marina is not able to take this away from him however, because then she’d be a hypocrite. Not to the degree of Jotaro, but still. She is also sleep deprived

I think that’s all I have for now? Like I said, I do have some drawings of Ex-Roommate, and I’ll provide some more details when I share those, but yeah. Also, like I said, I haven’t gone to college yet so I don’t know how much it works, but yeah. Just some thoughts
