Anyone know where one could find more maps of Palestine before 1948?

Lately I have been curious about how Palestine looked before the British decided to give a hunk of their land to the Jewish immigrants so they could found Israel and I had problems finding information on the internet. Don’t know if I just didn’t try hard enough, but with their deal with google, I thought Israel might try to bury any maps of the area before they were founded so to erase any mentions of Palestine so I went to the local library(hope that they never disappear) and I found what I was looking for. When I compared those maps to one of modern Israel, I was surprised, and at the same time not, how much of the land they had taken from Palestine. Though anyone could probably guess that from how Gaza and the West Bank are separated by Israel like an inland ocean despite belonging to the same country. That makes me angry because of how much the West took from Palestine and didn’t even consider if they could take that many immigrants? That area is not that big and most of these people have never been to Palestine before! Also, I have read from many sources that the area has been Palestine since the Roman Empire occupied it, maybe even before then! And to top it off, despite having been conquered by different countries and empires, the area has never really changed name! Meaning that despite what the zionists say, Jerusalem is a Palestinian city and you can tell that from their history and culture. Palestine has a mix of Muslims, Christians and Jews and probably more and that’s what Jerusalem is supposed to be about! To be a city where people of these religions can come together and pray. To live together and be able to practice their faith without discrimination! Does that sound like the occupied Jerusalem that you know today?

Israel has poisoned this great city for their own pride by treating it like a trophy instead of a place of worship and they are not the only ones. Maybe the Palestinians have been the only ones who have never seen the city like something to be owned and cared about being able to visit it and pray there. If you ask me the Israeli shouldn’t have Jerusalem, not just because I think it should be given back to Palestine, but because they don’t understand its importance to every practicing Muslim, Jew and Christian and why it exists.

Sorry about the soap box speech when I asked you about maps, it just had been on my mind this week. If you think I’m just pulling this out of a hat, one of maps I used is from the book “atlas of world history” so you can check it out for yourself.

Seasonal Set Up :: Book 2 of Avatar, Finnegrin's Wake, and S6 (Rayllum, Kataang)

So there was a youtube TDP react channel that mentioned "Finnegrin's Wake" and Finnegrin's dealings with Callum that reminded them of Aang's plot line in the "Avatar State" in which Katara is likewise used to coerce Aang into the Avatar State to have his power(s) exploited. The comparison didn't go much deeper than "hey these two things are similar" but I thought it was worth looking into, particularly because of how ATLA establishes set up for Katara and Aang in early S2 that comes full circle in the S2 finale, and 5x08 feels like similar setup for presumptive payoff in S6.

Let's go!

Power

I've talked before about the similarities of dark magic in TDP and bloodbending in ATLA due to the language ("The choice is not yours. The power exists" / "What choice do we have?") amid other similar uses in each tale; given that this was around three years ago, I didn't know how literal that connection would prove in terms of Aaravos, like Hama, being more than just a metaphorical puppet master. Not as talked about, though, within ATLA by extension are the similarities between Aang's confrontation with General Fong over the Avatar State, and Katara's confrontation with Hama.

This was someone they trusted, someone who offered aid, who is convinced that any means necessary to end the war or strike back against the Fire Nation (even children or innocent civilians) is justified, who bring Katara and Aang to their knees. Furthermore, both Katara and Aang end up using the type of immeasurable power that Hama and Fong want them to because of their love for each other—but more on that later.

For now, I wanna return to 5x08 and Finnegrin's parallels to General Fong. Both Finnegrin and Fong hear of this great power, and hope to use it for themselves:

FONG: Avatar Aang, we were all amazed at the stories of how you singlehandedly wiped out an entire Fire Navy fleet at the North Pole. I can't imagine what it feels like to wield such devastating power. It's an awesome responsibility. FINNEGRIN: Few years ago, a human took down Avizandum, king of the dragons, with dark magic. And I want to know the spell that did it [...] I want to kill the Archdragon of the Ocean, Domina Profundis.

While the Avatar State in ATLA is ultimately a 'good' when properly wielded, dark magic in TDP is a lot more negative leaning / morally ambiguous. At this point, Finnegrin's already tortured Callum who refused on principle to have anything to do with dark magic, after all. Finnegrin's aims are also decidedly more selfish than Fong; Fong, at least, is thinking of his soldiers and the Earth Kingdom, whereas Finnegrin is angered by his limited freedom and especially the slight to his pride.

What matters, though, is what they're willing to do in the pursuit of that power, and how quickly that escalates to threatening bodily harm and

Coercion

Both Finnegrin and Fong approach things at first with a less effective form of coercion. After Callum lets slip that he has done dark magic before but to save his friends (just Rayla, unknowingly to Finnegrin), the pirate captain accordingly threatens chopping off the hand of one of his friends, though this is foiled. Similarly, when Aang asserts that only him being in genuine danger can bring on the Avatar State, Fong begins threatening him through earthbending, but this likewise doesn't really go according to plan.

It is worth noting, however, that Callum was likely going to do dark magic even after this speech when the option was on the table to undo his friends' chains, even when he clearly didn't entirely trust what Finnegrin was saying ("You have all the power and control here") or why the captain was goading him into dark magic use. And as I've noted elsewhere, it could've just stayed a group thing; however, that highlights the definite turn the episode decides to take, anyway. Likewise, Fong is focused on coercing Aang through danger directly, and then realizes there might be a more viable option forward: the girl.

Rayla and Katara are both immobilized, Katara through earthbending, and Rayla through a form of torture of having her blood frozen in her veins. The previous attempts at coercion from Fong and Finnegrin didn't work (or weren't allowed to play out to a successful conclusion), but this one does. The easiest way to get someone to do something they loathe is to threaten the person they love (which is also why Katara uses bloodbending to save Aang from being impaled on Sokka's sword, for the record). This is no exception, and Callum and Aang snap.

They lash out into a rage, commit acts of violence, and—though delayed in Callum's case—give their attackers exactly what they wanted. But more on that in a minute, because to talk about the boys in this episode, we have to talk about:

Sacrifice

What does it mean to lose yourself? What does it mean to lose someone else?

Aang and Callum are both ultimately threatened with the loss of their loved one in the episodes above. Aang thinks that he lost Katara and enters the Avatar State out of rage induced grief; Callum fears that Rayla is going to be fed to the sea leviathan, and gives Finnegrin the spell that he wouldn't for his own safety or under torture.

Now, Fong lets up once Aang is the Avatar State, revealing Katara to be physically unharmed, and Finnegrin doubles down, going on his merry way to murder Rayla anyway. However, both episodes highlight that when you feel that kind of love and grief and rage on behalf of someone else, when you're pushed into that state of powerful desperation, you can lose yourself:

KATARA: Do you remember when we were at the air temple and you found Monk Gyatso's skeleton? It must have been so horrible and traumatic for you. I saw you get so upset that you weren't even you anymore. I'm not saying the Avatar State doesn't have incredible and helpful power. But you have to understand, for the people who love you, watching you be in so much rage and pain is really scary. FINNEGRIN: That was quite a display. All that talk about how love makes you stronger, but the second you see that elf girl in pain, you completely lost yourself.

Obviously Katara is speaking out of actual concern for Aang, while Finnegrin is high on his own induced strength-weakness power trip, but the idea of "you can lose yourself amid your fear/desperation in losing the people you love" is persistent. Katara doesn't want Aang to sacrifice or lose himself in the name of power even if he has good intentions because she can see how harmful it would be to him ("It was scary, I was scary" / "I can't watch you do this to yourself"). Rayla, similarly, tries to save Callum from dark magic use and encourages "don't do it, Callum! Not again!" It's this sympathy and understanding that makes me confident that, if/when she finds out about his usage on Finnegrin's ship, she'll be only concerned and saddened (and guilty) / upset on his behalf rather than angry or upset at him.

And, of course, at the end of Book 2: Earth, Aang is called to sacrifice Katara in a way, in regards to letting go and unlocking cosmic power. He initially refuses, but gets pretty far in the process... until he sees that she's in danger and needs help, and rushes to assist her no matter the cost. This act of love likewise leads to tragedy as they're cornered, and Aang relinquishes his attachment in one last effort to save both of them. Callum has his own inversion of this, not only giving up the spell to Finnegrin but also performing dark magic when even that doesn't work, all in the name of saving Rayla's life before he loses her forever.

Like Aang, Callum is forced into being the person or doing the thing he absolutely does not want to, but there's no escaping it... nor the realizations that come with it, embodied by the parallel epiphany that Callum receives about the Ocean arcanum mirroring Aang's about the Avatar State—love (and power) can make you strong, but it can also make you incredibly vulnerable.

With that in mind let's talk about

Death

While of course people can ship whatever they want to, one of the reasons preteen me found shipping discourse in the ATLA fandom endlessly confusing back in the day was because if not book one alone, the beginning of book 2 makes it infinitely clear that Katara/Aang is endgame, if only because the first two episodes of Book 2 exist entirely to set up their plotline in the end of the season.

The first episode as we've gone over establishes the stakes for the Avatar State and how it works, and reintroduces Katara's connection to the Avatar State in being what forces Aang into it (whereas the midpoint season establishes that she can bring him out of it, too). Then the Cave of Two Lovers, in which Katara and Aang learn the tragic love story of Oma and Shu, two lovers torn apart by war when the man dies, not only gives them their love theme, but also foreshadows and sets up Aang's death later that season... a death he only experiences, narratively, because he gives up Katara at all, and it's her love that revives him (but more on that in the next section).

This is also why we get Iroh affirming that he was "wise to choose happiness and love" and that "perfection and power are overrated" btw.

Okay, so, Aang dies. Obviously Callum is not going to literally die next season, mostly because we don't have a healer or mage character who'd be able to save him in turn. So what's his death going to be? Well:

If possession is the loss of self, and given dark magic's consistent associations with death, then as I've posited in other metas, Callum being possessed again will be his Death in way. (And if he's already dead, then well, Rayla can kill him, can't she?)

This sort of framing would work particularly well if Callum makes active choices along the way that leads to his possession; S6 may not play out that way, and be more interested in exploring what he does within the possession and the aftermath of choices available to him, but bear with me, as either way, the Lover is the rescinder of Death, and no matter where S6 ends, I think we can at least decently count on a Rayllum

Reunion

Obviously this depends on how the possession fight goes—if Callum is stabbing Rayla while under Aaravos' command, then he'll presumably be saving her with magic afterwards in some manner, and swapping in for a less victorious Katara in this instance—but the point stands that well... love is brightest in the dark, and Callum and/or Rayla will be saving the other from their death the same way that Aang saved Katara from captivity (another form of Callum on puppet strings) and then she saved him from his own warped destiny of dying in the Avatar State.

Therefore, in the same way that 2x01-2x02 of ATLA set up Kataang's finale resolution and triumph over death, I feel like episodes in TDP such as 4x02 with Rayla haloed in light, her verbal refusal to kill him upon request in 4x07, and Callum's dark magic use in 5x08 are similarly set up to be brought close to glorious fruition in s6. We'll just need our tissues first

We’re about to start off strong

So, I know that the reason incest is in mythology is because one person or one small group of people create the world and then the gods, so it’s hard to ignore. However, I wouldn’t want to put that into a personal story, let alone an existing work that I’ve enjoyed since childhood.

The world began with the creation of Raine, the goddess of rulership. Along with Raine was Alexiares (god of the underworld (similar to Hades’s roll in Greek mythology), the celestial spirt king (whose name in mythology is Atlas and is obviously a star god), Adohira (goddess of chaos, art, and creativity), and Elm (planet god).

Raine as the goddess of rulership had the others begin to make the world. As they did so, other gods like Chronos and Ikusa-Tsunagi (both of which canonically exist in fairy tail) poofed into existence. Raine soon married Alexiares. She soon was pregnant, except, the children weren’t her husband’s but Atlas’s. In an attempt to hide the affair, she alters their dna to fit both fathers. This is the birth of Ankhseram (another god of death who I’ve also combined with darkness, space, mourning and loss, revenge for the dead, and balance) and Mirakand (god of the moon, chaos, fun, pleasure, and revenge for the bored).

However, a ruler is a person in power, and power corrupts. So she has another affair, but this time with Elm. This produces Edith (war, metal, courage, and revenge for soldiers), Junto (the ocean, purity, and revenge for the pure), Katsumi (air, victory, beauty, pride, and revenge for the betrayed), and Sophia (earth, wisdom, magic, and revenge for the earth). This one wasn’t covered up, and led to the world they were building falling apart. The two do make up, but their marriage is never the same.

And finally, she cheats once more with Atlas again. She hides the parentage again, as she had lost some of her power and couldn’t afford the end of her marriage. This produces Kuno (fire, stars, love, the hearth, food, luck, and revenge for love) and Ophelia (light, goodness, life, family, healing, music and dance, and revenge for family).

The world is being recreated and now with life and fire/ food (something that makes humans, humans) life begins to take hold on the planet. Humans sprout up and the humans love them. In truth to their godhood, Mirakand and Adohira create copies of the world in which something is different, creating edolas and elentear and all the other worlds.

At some point, Ophelia and Ankhseram get into a fight as humans develop in magic. Magic can be wonderful and is often portrayed as such. And Ophelia is seeing how people are using it to help others. Ankhseram, however, sees the dangerous and evil stuff they are doing with it. Sophia, despite being the goddess of magic, didn’t take sides as she believes that with good comes bad.

The fight escalates and causes conflict within the gods. Kuno sides with Ophelia. Most of the others of the born ones (which are Raine’s children as they are the only ones that were born) stay out of the conflict, Mirakand flip flopping for fun. Due to the anger between them, Ankhseram creates a curse that targets the love of people and life, an attack on his younger siblings. However, he does still love them, so they are immune to it.

They do end the conflict and Ophelia creates laws for all of her creations (humans, dragons, animals, etc). They are now unable to force others to or bring back the dead themselves. They also can’t travel to other worlds with malicious intentions. These are enforced by Ophelia personally punishing them, unlike Ankhseram’s curse.

As time goes on, the gods get bored of the creatures on the planets. They begin to mess with them, causing chaos to every live creature. Now, Raine is a power hungry ruler, bad partner, and a bad mother, but the gods are destroying the life below and will until it’s all gone. So she makes a decree saying that the gods will split into two groups. Group A and group B. Group A will head down to the planet and live a human-like life as a kinda human. They will have to prove they are worthy of their god title. Then, once everyone but the born’s parents have died. They are left alive because they are the born’s parents. So they stay down to put the borns on the planets. Then they go through the cycle.

It’s different for each world. In earth land they get three lives and stop aging at 25. Everything can end a life except for aging. In edolas they only have one life due to the magic levels. In elentear they have five lives. It’s based on magic levels in each world. (Now that edolas has no magic that people can wield (you know that quote that’s like just because you can explain it doesn’t mean it’s not magic, like science. Science still exists in edolas, so they still have magic, just not wieldable) they age).

They also aren’t different people. Like in people in edolas have different smells and magic energies than the people in earth land. They aren’t the same. But reincarnated gods are the same. They have the same scent and magic. They are just different from their circumstances. But unlike others, their morals, actions, and abilities are all from their god self personality.

For the gods proving themselves, Raine in one of her lives would have to be a good ruler. Ophelia would have to create good outcomes and help heal people and support family. Kuno would have to protect love. Etc.

They also have to follow stuff similar to the myths humans create. Ophelia and Kuno have to fight Ankhseram while being human. This war means more than what other gods follow. Whoever wins determines the overall outcomes of major events. If it would mean bad things or good. The last war Ankhseram won, which lead to the dragons taking over. Which doesn’t seem bad until you remember the dragon wars, Acnolgia, and all the death it caused. Because Ophelia lost, after she gets her godness back she can see visions of the future. If Ankhseram had lost he’d get the same ability. However, they don’t have to follow the myths only after they remember stuff. They follow myths not knowing they’re gods.

Now. The gods aren’t fully human. They still have different soul types (bixlow’s quaking). When Ophelia goes down she has a half god; 1/4 celestial spirit; 1/4 demon, soul. They work like humans in like bodily processes, death, and magic. But after they fulfill their godness, they get their god memories back. They also gain a god mark on their body. Everyone looks different and is on a different part of the body. All of the born ones have their mark on their right forearm (the area of the arm below the elbow. I don’t know what it’s called) since they’re related.

They can also put marks on other people. It is not in the same place as the god’s own mark. They also each have two colors. One is when they are blessed by the god. The other is when they are scorned by the god. They are passed down through generations. They disappear around five generations down. Sophia has a colony that gets blessed every five years as she likes them and they are her main worship group that does everything it can for the planet. Jellal’s mark on his face is a god mark. It’s Ophelia’s mark. A child blessed by a god from a lineage like Jellal and Sophia’s colony, has traits similar to their god’s speciality. Sophia’s colony is incredibly wise and has lots of magic. (I love art but I got hit with my depression during COVID so I got stuck pretty bad and stopped practicing. So I would love to draw what the marks and colonies look like, but I can see them better in my head and they’d look weird). Jellal actually is very good at medical practices and celestial magic (which he practices). Similarly, Mystogan is good at music and dance. Now, this isn’t to say that they aren’t talented on their own or can’t have other talents that don’t fit the god, but should they commit to the skill, they’ll have extremely good luck in those departments.

After gods remember everything, they have slight access to their god magic. They can bless people (something they can’t do as regular humans), and use certain abilities. For example, Adohira can cause things to flip on people. Like she can make it rain chocolate milk (like discord from mlp). But she can’t mess with other worlds like she could in the god world (which is kinda like another dimension like the celestial spirt realm and the underworld). The part demon, celestial gods have a little bit more stuff they can do. They can fly and have their royal rights in those kingdoms. Their hair floats. Ophelia, for example, has her hair turn into fire and it floats. Mirakand’s hair floats and turns white like the moon rocks.

They can also recruit gods. During one of Ankhseram and Ophelia’s wars, Ankhseram killed the gods of the dusk and dawn. Permanently. As in they don’t get reincarnated or got back to the god realm. It was before they got their memories back. Once they did, Ankhseram felt incredibly guilty. Because those gods were perma-dead they can have replacements picked out from the living creatures on the planet. They live the rest of their lives normally, but when they die they become part of the god realm and start to follow the system.

They CAN be incredibly smart. They aren’t necessarily, but because of them being a part of the world for so long, they usually are in some aspect.

When they are on earth, they don’t get their gods names and get renamed for their human lives. They can also be cursed by Ankhseram’s curse while human. Except for Ophelia and Kuno, who are immune to the curse per its creation.

While one group is down with the humans, the other group is in the god realm. So when they are summoned they are summoned as gods. Atlas doesn’t follow the same system, as he’s not a god in the sense like the rest are. He just comes down and does the deed when he needs to and then continues with his king life.

The current group that’s down on the plant is Group B.

The gods are still worshiped and they have festivals and days. However it’s not as hardcore like prayers everyday or anything. It’s sort of like how some people view Christmas. Like it’s about the celebration, not the meaning. The Valentine’s Day equivalent is Kuno’s day and is considered his birth. Towns are named after gods in aspects of myths. In Fiore, some examples are Marigold (for Adohira. They sell tons of art supplies and have beautiful architecture. Their festivals are truly beautiful and colorful.) and Snowdrop (For Ophelia. Their festivals are very lively since they’re filled with music. Unlike Adohira’s festivals, they are very floral. Like Adohira gets confetti and Ophelia gets flowers.)

They also have a ranking system. I drew a picture. The born have underlings, that are below them. There are more but it’s to just demonstrate.

This also added into demon stuff. There’s the existing demons, Zeref’s (which are etherious), the demons on the island (galuna island). But there’s ghastly demons. Which are underworld demons. They are mainly underneath Ankhseram, but it’s like he’s the boss and Alexiares is like the ceo.

Godslayers are in a similar situation to dragonslayers. Gods in human form taught people god magic and they turned. But they didn’t have a war. Then it was passed down. So godslayers are older than dragonslayers.

Nolo Pasaro - Okay, when I rewatched the Acelleracers recently, I literally had to look up the voice actor for Nolo because I genuinely thought it was Dante Basco (Zuko) for a second. They sound so similar. Plus Nolo’s firey personality and his pride really make me think he’d be a Firebender. “Tork! I challenge you to an Agni Kai!”

Vert Wheeler - I feel like I don't need to say it, but I’m gonna… Vert’s a Waterbender! Water is the element of change and Vert is all about adapting to the different tracks. He’s also a surfer- so… yeah I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory. I swear this dude would become one with the ocean if it was possible. I can’t get the image of him making a surf board out of ice and just using the full moon to make the biggest waves possible for himself.

Shirako Takamoto - Shirako is so chill all the time I can’t help but see him as an Airbender. I also feel like he’d use his bending in the most creative and chaotic ways possible like manipulating the air around his speakers to make them sound louder or clearer. Not to mention that he’d use his bending to mildly annoy the Metal Maniacs. Think blowing their tools just slightly out of reach or speeding by them on an air scooter.

Kurt Wylde - Kurt has such strong Firebending vibes that it literally inspired this post lol. He just seems like such a hothead. He’s got the sass and air of superiority that comes with most Firebenders. It doesn't help that he and Mark have a sibling rivalry that reminds me of Zuko & Azula. Kurt also seems like he’d be able to manipulate lightning, and I’m not just saying that cause he looks like Mako.

Karma Eiss - Karma also gives off Firebending vibes. Her drive for perfection fits the precision a Firebender needs in order to safely manipulate their element. One wrong move and it could mean trouble. Karma would have her element fully mastered. She would have the wisdom to take skills from other bending disciplines and apply them to her own style. She can bend both fire and lightning, and I feel like she’d be skilled enough to turn up the heat for those blue flames!

Metal Maniacs

Taro Kitano - Oh, look at that. Another Firebender. I mean come on! He’s the leader of the Scorchers in World Race. His car has a classic flame paint job!! The Fire Nation was literally modeled after Imperial Japan!! There are so many connections I could make here, but what really convinces me is his overall attitude. He follows a strict honor code, and just like Karma, he’s got the control a Firebender needs to be successful. I feel like he’d make a great Lavabender too.

Tork Maddox - I’m getting strong Earthbender vibes from Tork. He’s built as sturdy as a rock, and his personality is just as solid. He stands his ground a lot in the Acceleracer movies, and although he’s got some fire behind his eyes, it’s usually only in response to being antagonized by one of the other racers. He’s the very foundation of the Metal Maniacs and like any good Earthbender, he seems to listen before he reacts. I also love the idea of Tork being a Metalbender.

Monkey McClurg - Monkey strikes me as a Nonbender, but if I had to give him an element, he would be an Earthbender. Mainly because I feel like he could make a great Metalbender. That being said, at my core, I really think he would end up not being able to bend, but he would make up for it by being an extremely creative inventor. He just reminds me of Sokka so much with how resourceful he is.

Porkchop Riggs - Porkchop is a full on Earthbender, baby! In fact, If Monkey ended up not being able to bend, he’d be who Monkey goes to for all of his Metalbending needs. He is one with the dirt. Especially since he's terrified of water.

Markie Wylde - Markie is 100% a Firebender as well. Like his older brother, he’s hot-headed and cocky. He gives off those Book One Zuko vibes in most of the Acceleracer movies. I don’t think he’d have the precision to be able to produce blue flames, but I do feel like he could pick up combustion. Could you imagine Markie with combustion tattoos up his arm instead of the stuff he's got now?

Brian Kadeem - Okay, I wanted to put Kadeem in the Earthbender category due to Sandbending, but Kadeem’s personality SCREAMS Airbender. He’s got too many pacifistic tendencies and is just so damn loveable I can’t not associate him with Aang. Not only that but due to the scenes in World Race where his mentor comes to him in visions, I feel like he would be able to connect to the Spirit World quite easily.

Banjee Castillo - Surprisingly, I feel like Banjee would be an Airbender too. If not an Airbender, then probably an Earthbender. He’s just so quick-witted and has such a lighthearted view on life that I can't help but stick him with the Airbenders. Also, the way he teases people (like when he waves at Kurt as he passes him in World Race) reminds me of when Aang is being mischievous.

Kingdom of Mistral

The Logistics and Landscape of Kingdom of Mistral, 793 E.A

Unlike the three other Kingdoms, The Kingdom of Mistral (In full "The United Free Cities of Mistral") is a coalition of multiple city-states, each often referred to as a Hearts - well-defended ancient metropolises that date to the ages of Once Upon a Time. Through the ages, the free city-states came together to represent themselves in the changing world, eventually earning the title of the Kingdom. Mistral as a unified whole was further solidified by them allying themselves with the Kingdom of Mantle during the Great War.

Each free city has its sphere of influence and a web of villages, logistics, and infrastructure it is responsible for.

Unlike, for example, The Kingdom of Vale, Mistral's Huntsmen don't travel through the continent clearing the Grimm. The Kingdom prides in it's ability to measure the spikes in Grimm pollution and the use of the Grimm Purges to prevent the expansion of the Neverlands areas or formation of the new ones.

Instead, most of the effort focuses on developing and expanding the Hearts, their surroundings, and specific logistics routes between them. The logistics network of roads and village outposts connects the industries and economies of the city-states, while anyone beyond is left on their own. Within the last century, Mistral's logistics further improved via the construction of Mistral's Railway - an achievement of technology and infrastructure that connects the remaining post-war Hearts with the newly expanding Argus and Haven.

The Dragon Fortress

In the northern Dragon Plateau lay Ryugu-jo, The Dragon Fortress, Mistral's heart of science and conquest. Built around a giant Anima Tree that dwarfs even the skyscrapers, the fortress houses the Kingdom's libraries and universities. Here thinktanks, corporations, research organizations, big or small, tirelessly work to explore the foundations of the world. Ryugu-jo also serves as the research point for Kingdom's military, developing technology and designing the next generation of war machines and naval ships.

Ryugu-jo's research initiatives are crucial keystones that also built the foundation on the environmental monitoring formula used to determine the state of the Grimm within Mistral, as well as in determining the threshold areas for the Grimm purges.

The fortress's position at the northmost point of the continent also makes it a crucial waypoint for interactions with the Kingdom of Atlas that lay across The Land of Roots - a highly poisonous part of the ocean and the key element of Mistral's folklore.

The Everforge

The outline of Nemea's districts.

Down south, surrounded by the Cedar Forest in the northeast and the Midsummer Forest in the northwest and almost touching one of Anima's Neverlands areas in the south, Nemea endures. The city's unique structure, defensive capabilities, and self-sufficiency have allowed it to persevere for a thousand years now.

Nemea is divided into multiple districts, each separated from the rest by Nemea's ancient walls.

In its center lay the titular Everforge - built by King Mistral a thousand years ago as he made the first huntsman weapons upon the dawn of Ever After. Through the centuries, the rest of the city slowly grew around it.

Around the Everforge sit the Administrative and Industrial districts, opposite of each other. Within the confines of the Administrative District of Nemea, one can find its governing institutions like the Council Hall, as well as the residences of The Noble Families of Nemea - Tramontane, Levante, Ponente, and Sirocco - four of Mistral's many nobility to claim that the blood of ancient kings of Mistral glows in their veins.

Around the Administrative and Industrial Districts lay the Residential and Commercial districts. The Commercial district primarily serves as the "tourist enclave" - most of the smithies and companies of Nemea offer their wares there. From weaponry to clothing and technological marvels - all the goods available make it easy for any traveling huntsman to part with their money. The district also contains a variety of taverns, hotels, and bars. The positioning of the Commercial District also ensures that any visitors to the city don't end up wandering into the Residential, unintentionally distracting their well-being.

The Judicial District, betraying the circular logic, pierces all the layers of Nemea, separating all the opposing districts from each other. The Judicial District is where most of the Kingdom of Mistral's laws emerge and the trials of the most heinous criminals happen. The military facilities here also handle the training of Mistral's police and sometimes even recruit promising candidates for the Department of Harmony. The Judicial district also houses the Kingdom of Mistral's most secure prison, where the criminals await their judgment.

And in its outer layer lay the farmlands, where the luckier Mistral's farmers dwell, unbothered by the encroaching tides of monsters that slither through the forests.

The Eternal City

In the far east, across the steppes, beyond the Lake Varun, sits Youdu, The Eternal City, Mistral's heart of Harmony and Union. Cradled inside a long-dead volcano, The Eternal City's title comes from the Kingdom of Mistral's mythological roots that label it the Birthplace of Humanity. A bustling metropolis surrounded by rock and long-since frozen lava, Youdu houses Mistral's economic and commerce center, with most of Mistral's wealthy elite nesting inside its skyscrapers peeking out of the crater. The city also houses the most crucial government facilities for the Department of Union and the Department of Harmony. The Council of Mistral convenes here once a year to decide the future of the entire Mistral, too. Beneath the modern buildings, wealth, and factories lies the labyrinthine Old City(known to locals as Siyue), whose existence dates back a thousand years to the original cataclysm, likely even predating it. The forces from The Department of Unity diligently guard the entrances to the old city, and only the most esteemed researchers get the license to enter.

In the thousand years since the City's myth came to be, it hasn't suffered a single breach or attack, rightfully being labeled as the safest place on the surface of Remnant. The self-sufficient metropolis with nearly unbreakable protections has long since become an inspiration to other similar projects like Kingdom of Mantle's Atlas Project or Kingdom of Vale's ill-fated Mountain Glenn.

The Eternal City also houses the primary copies of the Extinction Records - a thousand-year-old document that chronicles the rise and fall of life on the surface of Remnant.

Despite the growing turmoil and division in regards to The Faunus population and the political tension between the noble families, within the last century, Mistral saw many stories of successful growth and prosperity - notably the rise of the new future Heart in the port city of Argus and the ever-growing Huntsman Academy of Haven - as the Kingdom faces a promising and bright future ahead.

I finished watching ATLA live action and I've loved it! Yes, it's not the same as the original but it doesn't make it good.

Zuko and Iroh have beautiful bond and I loved scenes with them. Katara was badass in Northern Pole, Sokka was awesome, Aang was great. Overall I liked the show a lot.

Of course, there were things I didn't enjoy/could have been better. The dialogue and delivery was sometimes off to me, the scenes with Azula and Ozai, while giving us more context, make Ozai sort of... Weak? He's this powerful Fire Lord but Azula says to him whatever she wants without consequences. Yes, Azula is his favourite, but she should be respectful. Ozai's main trait is that he's cruel and prideful. I just don't feel he would be okay with Azula openly questioning him and telling him she has enough of his games.

From the things I loved: Kuruk!!! It's nice to see him and get to have more scenes with him and build on his story. He's cool. I also like how the siege of the Northern Water Tribe was shown, how there were victims for both sides and how powerful Aang as Ocean Spirit was. And I loved the fact that Sokka and Hahn weren't in a dick measuring contest and instead were cool with each other. And I feel like they want to make the Fire Nation Royal Family a little more complicated, or at least flesh out Ozai. In the cartoon he was one dimensional. I wonder how will they explore him if the show gets another season.

I feel like some people who don't like this show are too blinded by the nostalgia for the original cartoon. While yes, the cartoon was amazing, it also had flaws. But we ignored them because the overall story and characters are great. Here, we also have a cool story and characters. But somehow, the flaws are exaggerated simply because "in the cartoon it was different". Can we just like both shows? Can we accept that live action adaptation will be different from the original cartoon? Change doesn't have to be negative.

The Dawn of Hope:

At the dawn of the first homo sapiens, there is a simple small people of fishermen. They were the first men to travel on the waterway, to explore the world and resell their hard-earned winnings. The first of them are from what will become Greece. Atlas, led them.

A good, innovative and dreamy man. He dreams of the birth of a better world, to get rid of the madness of men. He suffered too much from them.

He keeps his thoughts secret from his companions, but transmits his ideologies to his orphaned children whom he collects along the way.

This people do not have a nearby village or city. It’s the sea their domain and it’s enough for them, according to Atlas. Their ships form like a giant sea turtle. The first fleet of humanity. A fleet that is not for war but for fishing, travel and beyond.

And then one night... that night... the night when an azure star fell from the sky. From his ocean inlaid with his fellow men, he detached himself. Crushing relentlessly in the ocean. The fleet was broken, cries of terror silenced the peaceful silence of the sea. Ships were shipwrecked, others dirty damaged. Atlas’ ship is the only one that was able to escape unscathed, hardly at least.

Tremors are felt. It was there that one of Atlas’s men saw with horror that a whirlwind was formed, where the star fell. The ship is taken from a torrent impossible to escape. The boat is dragged to the bottom of the water. The ship and the crew crash on the ground of an abyssal plain.

There were few survivors. Atlas and his last daughter Faya are narrowly doing with it. And they all saw him. Levitant in the center of the whirlpool. The blue star that blazes ardently. All remained motionless, paralyzed by a fascination mixed with fear. But not Faya. She hears a voice from the little azure sun. He was weak, tired and was not far from dying out. He needed a dwarf, a new breath. By compassion or innocence, no one knows, she accepted.

And this is where Atlas’ wishes were granted. Faya absorbs part of the star’s energy and vice versa. A crystal was growing on the girl’s torso. Without pain or pain. Atlas remains speechless of the scene. Stupor and anguish crosses it but only pride remains.

The blue sun, Faya, Atlas and the other survivors, emerge from the unnatural whirlwind that is already beginning to disappear. They were on a circular stone plateau, floating in the sky. The crews considered this event as an act of divine miracles and before they rejoice more than that, a disembodied voice ricochets in their heads to each of them. It was that of Crystal and Faya, both speaking in symbiosis, as one and the same entity.

- Listen and listen to me well. I am neither god, nor miracle, nor fantasy and certainly not a messiah. I am only the reason to listen. Innovation has surpassed. The truth has accepted. The balance to be respected. Your pain is mine. Your dreams are mine. Your thoughts are mine. And your silence is mine. I am the recipient of your past actions and you are the masters of tomorrow. Follow and be free. Now shine.

And the light was... thus was born the first founding pillar of the Atlantis empire.

A Deep Dive into Mythos Restaurant at Universal Islands of Adventure

A restaurant built for the gods? Table for me, please! If you're looking for a place to have lunch or dinner while you're at the theme parks, look no further than Mythos Restaurant at Universal Islands of Adventure. Whether you've dined here before or you're a first timer, I'm sure you'll be pleased with your experience (and with the food, of course).

Now, some of you might be wondering, "What is Mythos and why is it so great?" and you're in luck because that's exactly what we're going to dive into. Not only has Mythos been voted the #1 theme park restaurant in the world from 2003 to 2008 and again in 2018 by Theme Park Insider, but it also continues to be guest favorite, and after reading this, I'm certain you'll see just why.

So, let's get into the story behind Mythos and the absolutely mouthwatering food you can find there.

About Mythos

Mythos is a full-service restaurant located within the Lost Continent in Islands of Adventure. It opened May 28, 1999, making it one of the park's original restaurants. Mythos was built to resemble a cave that features cascading waterfalls, rock formations, and carvings of the mythical figures Zeus, Atlas and Narcissus with the idea that this would be the go-to place for all the gods to have a meal and a magnificent view of a grotto on a distant ocean- and it definitely delivers on that.

From the eye-catching exterior as you're walking in the cavernous interior that gives the restaurant an otherworldly feel, there are so many small details to admire while dining here. The interior of the restaurant features small streams and rock carvings, as well as the large, picturesque windows that overlook the lagoon in the center of Islands of Adventure. And I have to say, Mythos truly has one of the best views of the whole park that takes the dining experience to the next level. There is even outdoor seating where you can take in those impressive views while savoring the delectable flavors found on the menu- and it's also a great place to unwind and get away from the busy-ness of the parks.

The Food

An award-winning restaurant has to have incredible food as well. That is exactly what Chef Steve Jayson, Vice President and Corporate Executive Chef at Universal Destinations and Experiences (who has been working at Universal Orlando since 1989), was tasked with developing the menu for Mythos. "Mythos was going to be, we felt, a flagship restaurant for us," he says. "The design of the restaurant was unique and special and we really had a clean slate to do whatever wanted." Chef Steve took advantage of that clean slate and developed a menu that truly has something for everyone and has continued evolving.

Chef Justin Jones, Restaurant Chef at Mythos, is proud to continue on that legacy that Chef Steve has left behind and he works with his team to uphold the expectations that come with a flagship restaurant, "from my stewards to my chef assistants, to my chefs, we make sure that we carry ourselves with pride," Chef Justin explains. "They know from the start that quality is the end result, always."

The menu at Mythos changes four times every year to coordinate with the seasons and features a mix of Mediterranean, Asian, and American fare- you can't go wrong with whatever you choose here. Among the various menu items, you can find dished from Beef Loin Medallions to Pad Thai to a Souvlaki Couscous Bowl. I wasn't kidding when I said there's something for everyone and every single one of those dishes is absolutely delicious, btw.

Of course, this wouldn't be an article about Mythos without mentioning one of the most popular dishes among guests- and especially Annual Passholders- the Fork, Knife, and Spoon Grilled Cheese. "I always liked the idea of soup and sandwich combinations and I just thought what would it be like if we really made a really cool grilled cheese sandwich?" says Chef Steve. This isn't just any regular (albeit cool) grilled cheese- it takes the classic three cheese sandwich and set it in a Tuscan tomato soup and is topped with crispy pork belly and house made chips. This is definitely one of my favorite dishes here, too, and if you haven't tried it yet, you have to put it on your list for your next visit.

Another dish that Chef Steve left behind and that you can still find on the menu today is the Shrimp Sushi Katsu Roll. This one that the Chef says he always orders when he dines here and it's perfect to share with the table. As for Chef Justin, he recommends the seasonal Pan Roasted Wild Salmon, which was one of his creations. "I believe when something has that depth of flavor, you can tell the passion and time that went into it," he says. And that's what he did with this dish, which includes roasted carrot puree, fingerling potatoes, shiitake mushrooms, baby spinach, crispy shaved asparagus and macerated red grapes.

Now, if you're not the biggest fan of seafood, I recommend the Spanakopita Dip for your appetizer and the Gnocchi Bolognese for your entree- trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Mythos also has options for guests with dietary restrictions and Chef Justin plays a big role in making those accommodations possible. "We go out of our way to make sure that we can accommodate," he explains. "I do most of the table visits, so I speak with the guests, I ask what they like, what they would prefer and if there's something that is on the menu that is safe for them, I will go back with my allergy kit, grab fresh ingredients and prepare a fresh meal for them." So, whether you have allergies, you're vegetarian or vegan, or have any other dietary restrictions, ask to speak with Chef and they will gladly take care of you.

There are also some great options for kids to choose from like a Penne with Garlic Cream Sauce, Beef Medallions, or the classics like Grilled Cheese, Pizza, Chicken Fingers and a delicious burger.

The Drinks and Desserts

If you're someone who likes to enjoy a drink with your delicious meal, Mythos has you covered with a variety of options from cocktails to different wines and beers. One of the most popular drinks here is the Mythos Potion of the Gods, which includes coconut and spiced rum, black raspberry liqueur, orange, cranberry and pineapple juices, but you can also find drinks like the Immortal Old Fashioned, Mythos Margarita, or a Cucumber Martini just to name a few. Check the menu for great wine pairings for each entree or choose from a selection of draft or bottled beers.

And of course, we can't forget dessert. Mythos offers three absolutely mouthwatering desserts that will leave you wanting more. Starting with the Chocolate Banana Gooey Cake, which is a warm flourless chocolate cake drizzled with caramel sauce, topped with peanut butter ice cream, and candied bananas. And my personal favorite, the Chocolate-Hazelnut Creme Brulee (featured above), which is topped with a chocolate crumble, fresh raspberry, and whipped cream.
