[grabby hands] can you do. Robin my beloved. my dfy kid light of my life. maybe they're chatting with another club kid (one of your ocs?) post-dfy? I can give u more info on their personality if u want :O if not that's totally ok!
Sundown. The moment they’d all been waiting for was upon them, and it was approaching fast. When was Sundown? No one knew. All anyone knew was that the voices, the ones who remained, would guide them to where they needed to go: To Bells. And until then, it was business as usual.
A cool window brushed against Vien’s face as she exited 920 Hoadly, the girl shouldering her backpack a bit under the weight of the Cryptograms she carried. Another mission for HQ, a mission that Vien wasn’t fully sure even mattered, but she was fine with carrying them out. It gave her something to do while they waited, and it probably kept HQ busy too. They were kind of a wreck last she’d heard… Slowly pulling themselves together, but kind of a wreck nonetheless. But it was fine. They weren’t the only ones having a hard time. Many other kids were as well, and perhaps that was why she wasn’t surprised when she spotted a kid standing by Hoadly’s Leap.
At this point, Vien had a more or less decent sense of the club and who was in it, especially when she happened to be one of the kids who trained the incoming baby ninjas. But this kid wasn’t one she’d ever interacted with before. They were one she knew of, but… they’d never really spoken. DFY kid, green devotion gear… Robin, if she remembered correctly. And, if her sight wasn’t failing her, they had an evidence bag on them too. Ah. So that was where her first mission had gone.
Shouldering her backpack once more, Vien decided to try and fetch them, the girl climbing over the fence and approaching from the left. It didn’t catch Robin’s attention at first, at least not in the beginning, but any club kid knew how to pick up footsteps, and she wasn’t looking on being stealthy.
“Uh, hey there,” Vien started, watching their head whip over in their direction. At that reaction, the kid paused, putting a hand in the air to give a small wave. “No worries. Not a stalker. Name’s Vien, or authorofworlds in the group chat.”
“Oh.” Robin seemed to loosen up a bit at that, the teen fully turning towards her now as she removed her mask. “Right, Scholar kid… you’re doing okay, right? Since the uh, you know-“
“The Summit?” Vien couldn’t help but frown as she said those words, the kid still not very happy about the outcome of that whole meeting. “Yeah, I’m doing okay. Not like my Voice Dad would appreciate me worrying about him in SatCon,” she snorted. “What about you? I know it’s been a while since Die Guy died, but-“
“It’s fine.” Robin cut her off a little too quickly, the kid immediately diverting their gaze as they crossed their arms and shuffled their feet. “It happened a while ago, we’ve got a new ally, and it’s fine.”
“…Hey- I know we aren’t friends but you lowkey sound like you’re not fine,” Vien wheezed, now biting her lip. “Which I mean, that’s fine. At this rate Chorus owes us so much therapy- We’re hella fucked up man. It’s bonkers.”
“…Yeah-“ Unfortunately, Robin didn’t quite know what to say to Vien, because she was right. They weren’t friends. They saw each other in the boxcar sometimes, but they didn’t really speak. In fact, they were kind of surprised she’d come over as is. After all, Vien could be social, but… they knew the kid had her ups and downs, and right now, they were pretty sure this was one of her downs. “…Why’d you come over here again? No offense-“
“Oh you’re good you’re good,” Vien told them. “Part of it was curiosity, and the other part was because, well, club’s on its last legs and I know I’m not great at this, but I figured it’d be smart to check in and make sure you’re good.” She then went quiet for a bit, not really sure about what else to add. “…You got someone to sacrifice to for Sundown-?”
As Vien asked, Robin then picked up a rock and chucked it over the edge, listening for a sound of it possibly hitting the lake or the ground. “No.” It was a short response. Curt. They didn’t know what they were doing right now. They didn’t know if it was wise to sacrifice to anyone. “…I mean, I had one, but the Summit wiped her out. Now she’s in Saturation Control.”
“Mood,” Vien replied quietly. Shouldering her backpack off her shoulders, she then picked up a rock herself and yeeted it off the Leap, also attempting to hear it hit the surface at the bottom. “I haven’t found anyone to sacrifice to yet myself. I mean, I’m looking at TID, but… I’m worried about the old man, yknow?”
“Yeah. You know, that’s fair.” Another rock off the Leap, this time from Robin. “I don’t think I have anyone in mind at all… I wanted to avenge Die-For-You, and now the one voice who could help me do it is gone. I know Tooth could do it, but she didn’t, and now she’s dying while we ally ourselves with him.” A tired bitterness filled their voice for a moment as yet another rock flew downward.
“…Yeah…” Man, this conversation wasn’t going well, but Vien didn’t want to end it on a bad note… “…But at least we have enough ammo now against our main enemy. Take out SAO, fetch Bells, run free. Go big or go home, you know?”
Robin didn’t really know what to say to that, but they did look towards her for a moment, just letting her know that they’d heard her speak.
“…We’re almost outta here, almost done with this mission. And I’ll bet that once we get out, we can find other versions of our lost voices, ones that aren’t getting crunched and munched. I mean… that’s my goal at least. Funny for the TMC kid to get too attached.” Vien then lobbed one last rock off the cliff, now staring across the cliff side as she digested her own words. Take out SAO, fetch Bells, then get the hell out… and maybe, find a TMC before she snapped into hosting age. This works.
“…HQ said the exit is nearby.” Robin’s voice drew her back to the conversation, the girl looking towards her fellow club kid as they picked up the evidence bag they’d snatched. “…You coming?”
And while it did take a small moment to reply, Vien did eventually follow their lead and grab her own bag. “Sure.”
