I unfortunately cannot find the astarion comic post to tag whoever made it, but if you know who did, please lmk and I'll add an update!

I'm usually super inconsistent with remembering to tag things, but I am diligently using both the "#veilguard spoilers" and "#datv spoilers" tags on *anything* related to da4 for the foreseeable future. please blacklist those tags if you wish to avoid spoilers.

my bg3 player character || sorcha agaric (they / she)
wood half-elf, dark urge, circle of spores druid + ranger
sorcha has no knowledge or memory of their parents. as an infant, she was left under a tree in a forest to die, but a nearby mycelium colony formed a symbiotic connection with them, spreading to their body and keeping them alive long enough to be found by a group of druids. the druids bring baby sorcha back to their grove and train her as their own. from a young age she shows a distinct talent for druidry, particularly in learning to channel and manipulate the mycelium spores that still inhabit their body.
but as sorcha grows up, something dark ebbs in and out of the shadows of their mind. they have moments, beginning in childhood, where they lose all control, blacking out in rage and committing acts of unspeakable violence.

I'm getting towards the end of my current BG3 playthrough—I just finished Astarion's companion quest, and am getting ready for my Durge to duel Orin next.
I love the character I created for this first playthrough, I don't regret going Dark Urge for my first time because I feel like the storyline is so rich, but now knowing all the lore behind the character, I find myself wishing that I'd have made some different character decisions in the beginning. (I wrote a really dope bit of backstory hoping it would leave enough room for the Dark Urge lore, but found that would've worked a lot better for a custom Tav than a Durge Tav. but, you live and you learn!) so now I'm just trying to complete my run and experience as much as I can, and hopefully next playthrough I can be a little more focused on roleplay.
that said, here I am already scheming on future playthroughs, so let me share with you the new Tavs I've created!~
Tiresia: Asmodeus tiefling, wild magic sorcerer (she/her) (left)
Tiresia is a very young and gifted—if chaotic and unpracticed—wild magic sorcerer, though she has been afraid to take advantage of her unpredictable magic for a long time. when she experienced one of their first surges of wild magic as a child, she accidentally set fire to her family home, leaving her parents dead and herself half-blinded and permanently scarred. she has a soft heart, but can be slow to trust, having spent a childhood living rough on the streets, forced to fend for herself.
before being abducted by the mindflayers, Tiresia was a refugee on the road from Elturel, choosing to travel as a lone wolf rather than with the caravan led by Zevlor. she isn't so much of an "adventurer," per se—she's a survivor, in every sense of the word. in time, will Tiresia learn to harness her wild magic? and will she ever find somewhere safe to call home?
Juno: Lolth-sworn drow, Dark Urge, Way of Shadow Monk (she/her) (right)
On the right is my new Dark Urge, Juno. Juno is a Lolth-sworn drow, and a Way of Shadow Monk, and I imagine her to be perhaps a century or two old. I read someone somewhere talking about how a monk Dark Urge would be cool because what's more metal than being a Bhaalspawn assassin who needs no blades, no magic, nothing more than their own body as the ultimate weapon of murder? There's also something poetic about the push and pull between the uncontrolled, murderous urges and the rather zen, principled martial arts practice of a monk, making for the ultimate internal dissonance and turmoil. I plan to play this one as a bit more of a darker playthrough than my current one, though still (hopefully) a redemptive one.

I'm glad the kiss is working now, but ngl the lil forehead kiss looked so sweet from the right angle. 10/10 pls let Astarion give Tav forehead kisses
something keeps happening with Astarion's kiss animation where it makes him look like he's making out with my Tav's forehead while she kisses the air, but from this angle it looks really sweet

I wrote this when I finished the game, about a week before the Patch 5 update came out. I am so glad they added the epilogue, it's everything I could've hoped for!
I finished my first BG3 playthrough last night after 210 hours with my redeemed Dark Urge spores druid Sorcha and I have so many emotions about it!
(spoilers for the ending)
the final battle was so good and I nearly cried seeing all the allies standing around in the main chamber right before. the emotional payoff for playing the Dark Urge, who masterminded this whole plan, to be reborn anew and save the world, was just incredible. we killed the Netherbrain in the last round with two companions dead-dead (Gale and Shadowheart), and Astarion, Sorcha, and Orpheus just wailing on it, hoping they don't die. got the brain down to 10 HP on the final turn, and a Potion of Speed is all we needed for Astarion to get in the final hit.
however, I was disappointed by all the bugs that happened at the very end. I had to click "skip" through Wyll and Karlach's cutscene in Avernus, because it wouldn't move forward without me doing that. then when my epilogue scene with Astarion started, first it was just a blue screen, none of the text was voiced, and I couldn't click the dialogue options it just said "continue." I reloaded, and it worked a little better, the lines were voiced but some got automatically skipped, but I also ended up in freecam mode, with... my summoned fire myrmidon still in the room with us, on top of my character. lol
I also never got a final conversation with Halsin, despite having romanced him too? I thought that's where the "daddy Halsin" dialogue comes from, but I never got it. is that dialogue only if you are exclusively dating Halsin?
I just wish there was a final celebration at the end after beating the game—which Gale even talks about in the dialogue on the docks!!!—where you can talk to all of your companions and allies one final time. also, you should be able to take ALL your companions into the final battle with you, it felt rude as hell just leaving them at the Elfsong and then not even seeing them when the rest of our allies were gathered. hopefully some of these bugs and things will be worked out and improved upon in future updates/whenever the Definitive Edition gets released.

this backstory ended up not being totally Dark Urge lore-compliant fwiw, but I still love Sorcha and her backstory so let's just pretend she's a custom Tav who still has a dark side!
