"Why did you even come up here if you're so busy?" he asked her, giving out the rest of the cards. "What are you reading anyway [in the newspaper], if somebody is selling pants at a good price?"

"There's no need, I get them from free from your mom."

Shomki laughed, then quickly stretched his lips back, drawing his hand to his nose in pain [he had just pierced his septum].

"It's not for something shady, is it?"

"No."

He squinted at her. "Are you sure? Memory erasure is almost always for something shady."

"I'm sure."

"Do you have a thinker?" [he needs one to perform the memory erasure]

"Orion Ceara."

"My favorite."

"I'm not very good at detecting sarcasm."

A large blanket laid on the warm rooftiles, and the group was snoozing around in the sun. Felix and Anișoara were giggling on one of the corners, Shomkereki was shuffling a deck of cards, and Sașa was reading the new edition of the Soarer with sunglasses on her nose, their price tag still on.
